There was an interesting stat doing the rounds this week.

Based solely on away form, Wolves would be 4th in the Championship table this season (and 20th based on home form).
Looking at the makeup of our team, that kind of makes sense.
Whereas last term we were more swashbuckling going forward and able to open teams up at Molineux, this season we’ve been more effective playing on the break.
This was again the case at Brighton where we were forced to endure long spells of pressure, but counterattacked effectively, particularly in the first half.
I suspect the lads will be doing their share of defending tomorrow and it’s a good test against a strong West Ham outfit.
West Ham
Slavan Bilic may ring the changes, but he’s limited by their lengthy injury list. Moses, Sakho and the impressive Lanzini are all on the sidelines.
But Dimitri Payet is back and he’s been an integral part of their impressive season to date.
Andy Carroll is also enjoying a run of games and he’ll be a handful for our burgeoning centre half partnership.
They’re a difficult team to beat these days because they have both physical power and technical ability.
They’ve won their last two Premier League matches and are unbeaten in seven, which has seen them rise sixth.
It’s been a great start for Bilic and they look ideally positioned for a decent cup run if they can avoid banana skins.
Wolves
There’s a midweek Championship game hot on the heels of tomorrow, but I don’t think Kenny will ring the changes.

Jordan Graham is rated as 50/50 and it’ll be a shame if he doesn’t get the chance to test himself against a good Premier League side.
But if he doesn’t make it, perhaps Michal Zyro will get an immediate start? I’m looking forward to seeing if he can add something different to our attacking threat.
The team will have to be compact defensively as they have been in recent times, but West Ham will have better quality and more importantly a variety of ways to hurt us.
The gaffer
Predictions
We’re well overdue a cup run and to do that you normally have to cause a couple of upsets, so this would be a decent start.
But it’s tough to expect anything other than a defeat if you’re examining the evidence logically.
I just hope the players give a good account of themselves to keep confidence in the camp high ahead of some winnable home fixtures in the league.
I think we’ll get skittled tomorrow but I’ll back us to get on the scoresheet.
3-1
Up The Wolves!

Sadly the magic of the FA Cup has long since disappeared, and the competition devalued by the greed of Champions League and Europa Cup football.
I would love to see both managers put out full strength sides, if only to give our defence a real good hammering, so we can gain some much needed experience, and hopefully toughness.
The old cliche of we gotta concentrate on the league will be trotted out, but I have no problem winning both cup and championship!!
Ammers 1 Wufflers 5
Against the odds l’m going for a 2-2 draw with a 1-0 win in the replay.
Posted from NZ … I think we’re in for a long afternoon.
Alf Garnett will be bellowing out … Come on you Ammers…… and Dandy Nicholls will call him a silly old fool….
Days gone by eh….. West Ham 4 v 2 Wolves.
Can you imagine if “Till death do us part” was on the telly now – well it wouldn’t be would it.
Not on the telly perhaps. But I’m sure I’ve heard the phrase ‘scouse git’ mentioned in these parts on occasions.
It will be interesting to see what team is put out tomorrow. Personally I will be suprised if Afobe plays, call me paranoid but he will be worth more in transfer fee if he is not cuptied.
Maybe we can get a draw and bring them back for a replay but I doubt it.
Being realistic Hammers 4 Wolves 2
£10 Million to Bournemouth so the Telegraph says today.
Not expecting anything but a first round exit I’m afraid.
Wham 2 Wanderers 0.
It would be nice to get back to McGarry’s 70’s when we would regularly whoop them!
Let’s just hope the player’s arn’t reading these comments off our ‘so’ called fan’s! Ffs talk about defeatists, and NO you ain’t realists!
John, please explain how optimism and Wolves go together, at this moment in time?
I can’t see us winning but would welcome a bit of a cup run.
West Ham 3 Wolves 1
PREDICTION ; WST HAM UNITED 1 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 2
I rather think KJ will make several changes as his interview earlier this week clearly indicated that the league is his (only) priority and with Fulham in midweek that game must be more important.
I did smile today reading KJ’s comments along the lines of “of course we want a Cup run, of course we won’t be taking the game lightly” etc which is virtually word for word what he said last season before we went out to Fulham in the 3rd round and the season before when we went out to Oldham in the 1st round. Good old Kenny, you can always trust him to toe the party line.
Team – I reckon Martinez will be in goal, wouldn’t be surprised to see Deslandes at left back, in midfield a return for Price and starts for Byrne and Zyro and up front Sigurdason or Le Fondre. As others on here have said will Afobe be risked/cup tied? Also saw somewhere that Grahma was only rated 50/50 for the game.
I will be there with the other 2,999 lunatics!
I’ll be disappointed if Lanzini doesn’t play, just because every time I hear his name it reminds me of the restaurant in Neighbours where they used to go if they fancied something a bit posher than Harold’s coffee shop or a pub lunch at The Waterhole. I imagine it was the sort of place that Mr Udagawa used to frequent when he stayed at Lassiters for business meetings with Paul Robinson.
On that note, I reckon we’ll do well to come away with anything other than a defeat, so am going to predict a 2-0 win for the Hammers and another year without a cup run for us.
I would like to see Sigardurson play up front with Afobe just behind in a 4411 set up. Although a single match won’t tell you everything I’m keen to see what Siggy can do in what many consider to be his natural and best position. I would also like to see Zyro get at least a half and perhaps Bright included at some stage. I’m not sure we need ALF anymore – I’d rather give our own lads some experience now that our season is all but over. I think Batth and EEL will have their hands full but they could also learn a lot from the experience. I’d love to have a good cup run but it is also the chance to rest a couple of regulars, (Dave E springs to mind), and give some fringe players a run out.
I can’t really see us getting much whoever plays. Bilic has done a good job at WH. Hammers 4 Wolves 1
Forecast – West Ham 1 Wolves 2.
Apart from that 3-2 epic victory over Sir Bobby Robson’s (had a long chat to Sir Bobby before the England v Portugal world cup game in Gelsenkirchen in 2006 – a true football man) Newcastle United at Molineux in 2003 I am hard pushed to recall an exciting cup victory (or indeed a decent cup run) in any competition since 1998. About time we put that right – starting tomorrow.
When I was a lad (Christ that was eons ago) the FA Cup was THE competition. Hells Bells in those days managers used to rest players in the league fixture before a cup tie such was the importance of the greatest cup competition the world has ever seen! (Song in there somewhere).
Times have changed and I believe Manchester United really undermined the competition in 1999 when as holders they decided to pull out of the 1999/2000 competition to participate in a “World Club Championship” tournament in Brazil to be held in January 2000. Martin Edwards stated that if they did not take part it would “harm England’s chances of hosting the 2006 World Cup”. Make of that what you will. Anyway…….
For me the FA Cup third round draw remains sacrosanct. Every December when the third round draw is made I sit in front of the box with a sheet of A4 and 32 “VS” down the middle with room to write the teams either side. This recalls memories of High Arcal Grammar school playground in the mid 60’s when we used to huddle round my red transistor radio (God bless you Mum) with a wavelength dial on front and tuned into the home service and later in the 60’s Radio 2 (Pete Murray show) with bated breath.
My beloved Wolves always seemed to be number 44 – this was the same a few weeks ago when we drew West Ham!
Anyway to wet our whistles a brief look back at some third round memories from yesteryear….
1959 – Barrow away won 4-2 with Deeley, Booth and Lill scoring – my dad and his mates made this arduous North West winter trip to the submarine and ship building town located in what was then known as Cumberland. Whilst the record books show Barrows highest home attendance is 16,874 v Swansea this is disputed as some put the attendance v Wolves as 18,900.
1960 – Newcastle away – drew 2-2 (Clamp and Flowers) in front of 62,443 fans. Wolves won the replay 4-2 on their way to winning the trophy.
1949 – Chesterfield home – Wolves romped home 6-0 (scorers and prepare to cry – Pye 2, Smyth 2 and one each for Hancocks and Mullen. Wonderful). The attendance at Molineux was a staggering 46,272 – in a blizzard! Wolves went onto clinch the trophy.
1921 – Stoke at home – Wolves won 3-2 in front of 35,140. In post first world war England this was a tremendous turnout – Wolves reached the final losing 1-0 to Tottenham at Stamford Bridge when nearly 73,000 filed through the turnstiles.
1973 – Manchester United at The Mol – Mike Bailey scored against a Manchester team that did include George Best and Bobby Charlton but was a pale shadow of the 1968 European Cup winning team – indeed they were relegated in 1974. Wolves battled through to the semi finals before losing to those distinctly unpleasant and utterly arrogant bunch of tossers Leeds United at Maine Road. I hated the journey home after getting lost in Moss Side. Nobody spoke a bloody word – it was truly awful. We would have beaten Sunderland in the final…….
1967 – the year of flower power and songs about San Francisco (Scott Mackenzie and The Flowerpot Men to name but two acts). Wolves were drawn to Oldham away and I travelled in the distinctive orange Don Everall coach from Sedgley with schoolmate Andy McCheyne.
Losing two nil with three minutes to go – we were on our way out! I glanced back and…..Wolves throwing everyone forward and…… GOAL Mike Bailey pulled one back. WAIT, WAIT for fucks sake WAIT I yelled at Andy. WE COULD DO THIS YOW TWAT! He rushed back onto the terrace – one last attack and GOAL, YES GOAL, NO, YES YES YESSSSSSS GET IN YOU BEAUTY (or words like that) – Bobby Thomson equalised!! We went ape shit indeed lost it completely as 14 year old football nuts tend to do – such was the emotions created by the FA Cup. Nearly 25,000 at Boundary Park, the second highest league ground above sea level.
In the replay a crowd of nearly 40,000 (I know that takes some believing) goals by Hunt, Mcllmoyle, Wharton and Duggie Woodfield saw Wolves win and clinch a home tie with Everton.
Hopefully we can generate more memories from the FA Cup fourth round after tomorrow……
Have a great weekend everyone
BOG
BOG, you are the fount of all Old Gold knowledge and I salute you.
The 1949 FA Cup victory against Leicester was notable for the fact that Don Revie couldn’t play for Leicester because of damage to his proboscis.
Not the only time that we put his nose out of joint:-
8th May 1972 anyone?
1-2 Carol Afobe Henry
Don’t forget Norwich won here this season in the PL so they are not unbeatable ..
Purist smash and grab for me thank you very much with our defensive rear guard on the block..Heart failures All round ..Shame re Ikeme unfit.
KJ to completely outfox the other bloke before the
match and during..
2-0 up with 15 mins to go ..Carol scores and we all crap ourselves until the final whistle..
Stranger things have happend ..looking forward to seeing Zyro..
COYW
I also remember that Oldham game. 2-0 down so Clive from Houston and me and our other footy mates retreated to the pub when the 2-2 draw came up on the black & white TV. Lesson learnt – never leave a game early when you are going to be late home anyway.
Logic dictates whu could give us a drubbing tomorrow, but if they don`t score an early goal and we settle down you never know.
I see Cardiff have loaned out Kenwyn Jones, so our defence should have no airiel (never could spell that word) problems against Cardiff in a weeks time, Andy C is a different kettle of fish though, and they will go route one if time passes without a goal.
The cup can be a great leveller so, come on you wolves, how about a fourth clean sheet and a 2-0 win. Don`t worry – the drugs will wear off shortly so I can drive home.
I don’t know why but I fancy a draw tomorrow.
3000 fans wouldn’t make the trip if they didn’t expect to get something out of it now would they.
2-2 should do it.
And a lottery win will put the icing on the FA Cupcake.
I cannot see us winning.
Hopefully KJ may blood some youngsters.
Like others, am apathetic, until the club gets a new owner.
Wolves 0 West Ham 3
We will certainly learn if the club intend to keep Afobe tomorrow. If he starts then he stays and nicks an unlikely winner for a gritty 1-0 victory.
Who cares ? If the clubs don’t, why should the fans ? Doubtless the trophy will go to a major Premiership club – the rest don’t take it seriously unless they somehow find themselves in the 1/4 finals with an easy draw. The big Prem clubs can put out reserve teams which can trounce the rest and the only ones who actually care about this competition are the lower league clubs looking for a quick pay-day. A lesson in how to kill the goose that laid the golden egg…
The last time I was at the Ammers, Don Everall dropped us about 3 miles from the ground and we had to tube it to the ground. Wolves were losing 2-0 with 10 mins to go and so me amd my mate elected to get a less busy tube and duly fecked orf.
Sitting on the coach with our smug looks we were greeted by loads of happy fans, Wolves had scored two and equalised.
So on that basis, Wolves 2-0 up with ten mins to go tomorrow, and were staying till the end.
So 2-0 to the Wanderers
2-0 to the Wanderers.
And on and on and on.
Tough game tomorrow against the ommers, but its the cup and we all know what happens in the cup,and every body loves a under dog. we could cause an upset,so I’m going for a draw of any sort.
It would be great to have a premier team back down the mol.
UTW.
Try as I might, and I do try, I just can’t rustle up any apathy regarding this or any other Wolves game. I can’t explain that tingle of excitement I get as KO time approaches, even though I usually only listen in on Wolves Player. Cup or League, it’s all the same to me. Desperate for at least a draw.
As for this one. West Ham, upper reaches of the Prem and probably looking at the cup as their best hope of a trophy this year. Quality throughout the team and the advantage of playing at home.
However, they do like to blow bubbles, and I figure, on recent performances, we can keep poppin’ ’em. We’re gonna need a resilient defence and by coincidence, just lately, we seem to have one.
Hammers 0 v 1 Wolves
I love the FA cup and I hope we can get a result down there. 2-1 to the Wolves – Zyro to score on his debut.
🙂
http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/wolves/transfer-talk/news/betting-suspended-on-afobe-to-bournemouth_263819.html
Looks like he’s off then, not a surprise to me.
I for one hope we play as strong a team as possible. If we’re realistic, we are not going to get promoted this season so why not go all out for some cup success? Teams of our level and below have made it to the semis/final in recent years so it can be done.
What I think is ridiculous is the fact the Football League has scheduled league games on Tuesday. They go on about teams playing weakened sides in the cup but you can hardly blame managers with the fixture pile up, most of whom know they are three of four losses from the sack.
Saw West Ham against Liverpool last week and they are a really good side. Let’s hope they rest a few players and we get a bit of luck. Magic of the cup and all that. Up the Wolves!
Last time I watched W Ham, Andrew Ridgley was miming and George Michael was just gay. They were good though, but no longer play together, so we should win this one. Based on that fact:
W Ham 2
Slade 3
It would be great to see a surprise but in all honesty this can only end one way.
Probably closer than expected but my two ‘Irons’ supporting mates are more likely to enjoy their pints tomorrow night.
West Ham 2 Wolves 1
Siggy deserves better. One of the few to give a shit in the team of embarrassing bastards of a few seasons ago.
He’s already done more for wolves than Rowe, saville, Leon Clarke, etc. Give him a fair shot you one eyed…. [calm down Jim calm down]
Wet Ham 3
Wolves 0
Afobe to Bournemouth for £10m. How low have we sunk when a piddling little seaside club with gates of 11,000 can buy our star player for more than we have spent on players in the last 3 years put together! Disgusted, pissed off, angry, depressed, annoyed, unhappy.
Or even West Ham !!!!
Just heared Afobe is going to Bournemouth for 10 Million.
Moron and Poxey will be rubbing them selves together.
PARASITES.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/bournemouth/12090292/Bournemouth-on-brink-of-signing-Benik-Afobe-from-Wolves-for-10m.html
We’ll know if he isn’t playing today.
A draw away and then get them back to the Mol.
West Ham 1
Wolves 1
A cup run would be a nice distraction from the league, but following our festive resurgence of results, I am in two minds as to whether wholesale changes and fresh faces would be a good thing, or keeping the same team as has got league results going.
Momentum is a good thing, but can we keep it going?
I think we might get beaten this weekend, but it is the FA Cup, so anything is possible!
West Ham Utd 2-0 Wolves
#UTW
Afobe almost gone, club telling us how good siggy is. Mr Morgan really as sold us down the river . Early bird sales should be interesting
Early bird sales should be zero until the fat controller goes
Yep .. Afobe off …
Fuck off Morgan . ….You ve robbed the grave of sir jack . You fucking football leach
And fuck off moxey . You podgy little shit with your greasy fat thieving fingers in the sweet jar .
Ennis next I suppose
Dicko, McDonald, Iorfa, Hause, Graham – theyll all be off as with the Scouse Mouse and Toxic Moxey at the helm we are stuffed. The FA Cup? For us it must be the Fuck All Cup!
People like us were born wolves … If we had a choice then we’d probably choose more wisely but it doesn’t work like that . These two slime bags don’t care for our club . Moxey has made over ten million in his stay and Morgan will pocket at least 40 million
They can’t even let the people who they ve bled dry , the decency of giving us even a glimmer of hope for the rest of the season .
Scum
If the rumours are true then they can’t play Afobe tomorrow.
I would of almost bet against it due to fan pressure
It’s crazy to add Afobe to the Sako debacle but it could show that he personally wanted to go.
I blame KJ (as always DG) if that’s true his tactics and defensive negligence exposed Afobe as a lone exile many times ..perhaps he had enough..
Our wage regime is so appalling it just plays into agents hands to prospect their man..money does talk..
However it’s perplexing to me that if we are near a sale then surely it would be right to keep the best assets for a punt at the PL..
I just hope that shedding Afobe does not indicate that a buyer is now not on the horizon as it would make more sense to me that his £10M rebuilds the defence and other positions towards getting our team balanced again..
Afobe to me was as valuable as Sako was.
The £10M will go straight into the pockets of M and M.
Next season wait for 10,000 crowds, hopefully M will take a pay cut but I doubt it.
If that is a done deal, then Jackett needs to resign in disgust.
After all the bullshit spouted about how a team will be built around him, etc etc we come to this.
One of the Prem big boys (!) cherry picking our supposedly unsellable best player.
If you take this and spin it, Jackett, we will all know your balls have long since disappeared and you are nothing but a low paid puppet for that red nosed scouse prick and his wormtongue sidekick.
Anyone who spends any more money at The Mol before the club is sold needs their bumps felt.
Lower feeling than relegation to the third division a couple of years ago.
Fuckin’ betrayed and shat on.
Dont ever come to Texas, morgan or greasel, we got open carry since Jan 1st
Bastards, greedy bastards
I think early bird sales should be boycotted, until we get a statement of intent, sorry just dreaming. I’m pretty low again the club I have loved all my life is playing mind games again, if we don’t get a buyer soon and SOME URGENT Changes next season will be as bad again.
Clive get off that bloody fence and say what you think for a change.
I see the big boys are wading in here lol Stu where are you on this…
I’ll go as far as to say I don’t think our Chinese man is committed..We would of heard by now and the Afobe sale is the clue..
I’m now tapping up Tim Spiers at E&S
Are You about tomorrow Steve ?
I’m about.. you could say ..I’m meeting a mate who’s a prominent WestHam supporter and who could be taking the piss out of me for some time ..
If you are in a pub near the ground I might
brave saying hello..the Wolves old school are about even tonight..
We ll be in the half moon ( Mile End road ) Stepney Green station turn left .
I thought at that time on a Saturday those old school hamsters would be too busy knocking doors and trying to sell ironing board covers
Expecting any snow today? That was their excuse last time they didnt want to play us in the prem I think!! Hope the 3000 have a great day and a few goals to celebrate. Them 2 us 3
Disgusted that Afobe has been sold. Am very concerned that Wolves will be adrift and continue to bleed resources until we’re sold which could take a long time. We’ll see what happens to the money raised from Afobe’s sale but one thing’s clear: we ain’t targeting promotion this year. As for tomorrow we’m doomed. Never die. West Ham 3 – Wolves 0
Sold down the river..
If Afobe goes so must Jackett.. walk away
He deserves better than Moxey and our board
Morgan has certainly proved the stereotype of a thieving Souse Git…
And if Mr Chinese Ding a ling is real he would surely of said don’t sell our best player in January..
If he is real and didn’t We don’t want him at our club either because he knows nothing about football..
Rant Over
Morgan Out !!! Moxey Out !!!
If Afobe goes wouldnt surprise me if KJ hadnt had some say in the decsion. As a manager he particularly likes to bring in new faces and it wasnt long ago he dropped him. This does assume he will get a chunk of the money to spend and he will need to spend it well or it could be his swan song.
Jacket. “There’s something worrying about our options defensively ‘. Well with afobe gone how would he describe our attacking options!! Fecking unbelievable! he isn’t this stupid. Is he !!!
With Afobe gone/going our attack consists of;
Dicko – injured, out for the season
Le Fondre – journeyman on loan, couldn’t even get into Cardiff’s team
Sigurdasson – wasn’t good enough in League 1 and spent recent times in some Scandinavian backwater
Enobakhare – untried 17 year old
Morgan and Moxey you are scumbags. A pair of odious little runts.
P.S. replace the ‘r’ with a ‘c’ and its more accurate.
Is this a play on words?
Odious = Odour = Smell = Stinking = Smelly = Fishy
Now we’re getting somewhere close to the truth.
It would be great to have a long overdue cup run but I am afraid I can’t see it this year. With Afobe on the way out that will have a negative effect on the club – from players to fans as we all know the proceeds will not be given to Kenny to reinvest. We can also forget being close to a sale- you don’t sell your most expensive assett if there is a deal waiting to be signed.
We will get stuffed today – in more ways than just on the pitch!
With the glaring lack of a denial by Wolves, I’d say Afobe is as good as sold. That may be good for the team’s performance today or bad. If the sale is a surprise and disappointment to his team mates then we may get a demoralised performance and a hammering. On the other hand we might get a defiant gritty showing and a replay. We’ve skated on thin ice for the last three games and now this, the Afobe sale. I think class will tell today. 4-0 to the Hammers.
I think the rest of the players knew. At the end against Charlton they were stood congratulating each other around the half way line and Afobe went alone to the Wolves fans end, applauded them, and then waved (goodbye). It certainly felt like a diva being allowed to take her final curtain call, and only after Afobe had run off did the rest of the team go to the Wolves end.
If the rest of the players knew at the Charlton game, that makes Kenny’s statement earlier this week (the no enquiries for Afobe bit) look strange, or a massive porky pie. I hope you’re right and if so the players will have moved on mentally. Maybe a draw is possible.
we’ve been very lucky over the last 3 games so I’m not going to hold my breath on a win hope we can get a draw and bring them back to ours, and what’s happening in the transfer window is Williamson coming or what but what ever is always COYW
The Afobe situation is disappointing to say the least, and made even more so by the fact that much of our profit on the deal will go to Arsenal on a sell-on clause(I would imagine). 🙁
Well that’s me in transit to the Ammers, doing my Stuart the coach Steward bit today.
Can’t really comment on the Afobe situation until 2pm when the team comes out, then if as expected Afobe’s name is not there, it’s a whole new ball game.
If we can have the money for other targets we’ve been linked with then I for one can’t see any difference in us playing Siggy up front on his own or anyone else for that matter, they will have as little effect as Adobe did. We fecked Bully’s knees up playing that game and we’ve fecked Afobe off if reports are true.
Iv’e said it before, we are but the shit on the shoes of the 2 M&M scumbags, we are fans and have no use to them at all, Sky TV makes it even worse, this takeaway take over is looking like a Peking Duck that’s dead in the water, obviously we are not impressing anyone out there.
When Ton Blair came in the played things can only get better. Look what happened next!
So let’s suck the shitty mop and move on in true Wolves fan fashion in the hope Morgan & Moxey tske a holiday in Texas.
W anchors the pair of them.
Am surprised so many people are upset/shocked, by the ‘proposed’ Afobe sale.
I think it possible that Grahame and Macdonald might go this ‘window’ as well.
We are owned by a cheap asset stripper, a ‘con’ man, out to bring, the club I have supported since being a boy, to its knees.
As far as I am concerned, anyone going to watch Wolves today, or any day, that Morgan and Moxey continue their fraudulence, is condoning their behaviour.
By paying you allow M & M to think:
‘The supporters will put up with anything, but still pay us,’ and they will carry on ‘asset stripping’, certain that your buying a ticket, underwrites their ability to ‘con’ you….
There is no potential buyer, it’s just another confidence trick, to keep the fans, paying money to them and not the club….
I am sure the players and management know it.
Sad indeed….
Could not agree more with your sentiments.
Pains me to say it after over 60 years supporting the Wolves but it will be a long time before I part with any more money if that fat git remains anywhere near the club after the scouse louse finally sells it. Sir Jack will be turning in his grave, especially with the upcomping sale of Afobe to cheatmouth of all shitheaps.
The highest paid at the Mol?
Look no further than http://www.molineuxmix.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?t=96037
So Afobe not even in the team for the FA Cup!!!!
Showcase .. If your hob nobbing with the big wigs .. Get em to hold the kick off as this tube full of wolves fans has had the emergency alarm pulled and we re all stuck
It’s always disappointing when your star player moves on, but it’s been on the cards for quite some time now. If we’d started the season as was predicted I’m sure Afobe would have wanted to stay, but as seems inevitable we’ll be a Championship side for the foreseeable future, and as such not much good at furthering his career. I’m sure there has been meddling from above as well, and the lure of good profit has been too much for our illustrious leaders. Such is life. I think we were a bit spoiled with Mr. Hayward.
I wish the team well for this afternoon, and hope that our new Polish recruit slots in quickly. Here’s hoping as well that some of the cash from the Afobe sale is used to strengthen the squad.
Hammers 2
Old Golders 4
One more niggle. AFC Bouremouth have done really well to get where they are, I think it’s very disengenuous to disparage them as being a lesser side than we are. Sure their stadium is small, but they are where they are because they’re a well managed, well run, up and coming club. You can’t say that about the mighty Wolves at the moment, love them though I do. But, circles and swings and all that stuff.
Good game to watch, lot’s of promise on the pitch, played well as a unit again and we were betean by a superbly well taken goal, simple as that. We can’t ask any more than that under the circumstances. With regards to Afobe, he’s nailed his flag to another mast so onwards without him. Le Fondle was just as lonely in his spot when he replaced siggy.
Anyone hear what happened to Siggy? He went down likew a felled tree with no one around him.
Fans were magnificent, P’d all over the Ammers fans.
I met up with Bedford Wolf and London Loyal had a chin wag.
I’m optomistic for the future the way we played against (better opposition) not a shambles like we’ve seen earlier in tne season on occasion.
So, I now await the promised “Club statement on Afobe” after 5 pm they said.
If they give Kenny the money, there’s still time to shore up the teamfor a push.
On to Molineux against Fulham, heads down for a push lads.

Wolves Club statement
http://mobile.wolves.co.uk/news/article/statement-benik-afobe-2892077.aspx
Oh well, time to trot out the excuses:
We can concentrate on the league now
We didn’t want to sell our player of the year, it was because of footballing reasons
We are going to build a team around the man we’ve just sold
We sold him for footballing reasons
We are going to buy a Sako replacement
We are going to reinvest the money from the Afobe sale
Siggy is like a new striker
Fate has been cruel with the injury to Dicko
Fate has been cruel with the injury to Siggy
We have no need for any experienced defenders, we defended wonderfully against premiership attackers
For 95% of the match we were neck and neck
I will still be there cheering my team on. I will still support the team. But the b.s. about Morgan still being in charge etc etc, just shows the contempt and short sightedness of those in charge. Any other business that treated it’s paying customers in such a way, would be out of business before long.
Jesus Moxey what kind of statement is that !!!
How much did we sell him for ?
How Much goes to Arsenal ?
How much does Thelwell Get to reinvest ?
Where is Mr Ding -A – Ling… ???
All I can say now ,is I hope and pray we get new owners in ASAP and we can be shot of those pair of leaches once and for all.
It doesn’t look like anyone’s coming to our rescue any time soon, but all we can hope for in the short term is that the sale of our prized asset BA,will allow KJ to bring in replacements if he is allocated any funds that is.
Furthermore we must remain in this division until we get the new owners.
SAD .
They are now saying he has wanted to go all season. Can’t say I blame him.
As a Wolves supporter living in Bournemouth can’t tell you how delighted I am to see our best player being sold to the Cherries he should do very well for them. If you believe that bollocks …….
WTF is going on, can’t believe anything our board says now nothing our manager says. This tells you more about where our club is going that Afobe would rather play in front 12,000 than the current regime running our club.
It’s the WAGES too
That says it all … Bet your not the only wolves fan in Bournemouth , how many Bournemouth fans are in Wolverhampton ?
Hi Mickey, how are you mare.
As a long time Bournemouth resident and life long Wolves fan this just about takes the biscuit.
Little ‘ole Bournemouth cherry picking our star striker. A club that a few years ago was going out of the league, trained on a local school’s sports ground and it’s few thousand supporters watched from a ground with only 3 sides!
Last year we pulled out of signing the prolific 21 year old Callum Wilson because £3m was too much and now Bournemouth have got the pair of them.
It shows what can be done at an ambitious well run club where both the owner and the CEO are interested in the team and the fans and not their bank balances. Moxey for years and now Morgan are destroying this club.
Sorry that’s mate of course. Mares are what Moxey gives me.
Let’s assume he didn’t want to stay since the summer..if that is true then the row with KJ would make sense too..
But if the club is run on crap wages with no hope of change, on a three yr contract, with big bucks PL interest (such as Norwich) it’s then over to his agent who I think did the damage and gets a slice of 10M too..
It was forgone by the very nature of the player terms that were set up..ie: we’ll never keep any decent player if we stick to this..
We are what we are….
A club that sells its best assets when they tell us they want to build the team around Afobe. = Bullshit
A club that has a manager trotting out … We move on and try and improve…. = Bullshit ( Improve …that’s a feckin joke … We haven’t improved for 18 years ..!!!!!)
A club with a CEO and OWNER who care jack shit for the fans and who have raped the club during their tenure.
A club where compared to a lot of PL clubs have been overtaken and made us look like pricks for believing we would reach that exalted status.
Our business model now resembles Crewe. ( no disrespect to Crewe by the way)… Fiddle about , sell the best players, sink into the lower league… ” oh but we didn’t lose money” crap.
I’m out
Apart from adding some swear words I am with you 100%..
Wolves will be lucky to get 10,000 crowds next year, thats losing out on £375,000 per home match, still not enough to pay the fat controllers wages.
Afobe has gone for the money… just as Sako did…. Who wouldn’t
He will warm a Premier League Bench…
Just as Sako does…
its money over regular first team football…
That’s the modern way..
We don’t pay enough and have no ambition to change that so right we will now always be a selling club and will buy cheaper lower league players and rely on kids hoping they come good…
The Club is a joke..
Meanwhile Morgan gets rich off his projects in the area and Moxey gets rich for being a scumbag…
And we have to suffer….
Nige …. That’s exactly what I was trying to say ….
I told everyone on this blog Months back, “of the training ground bust up with Afobe refusing to play where Jackett wanted him too”. That was not Bull shit, it came from the guy who the youngsters lodge with and who runs the coach travel, when the players came home and told him.
I told you, “of the bust up in the changing room, between Afobe and Jackett”, that was not bull shit, it was from my mate who was told by one of the players the day it happened.
Three weeks ago my mate was talking with Afobe’s dad and I told you “he said there was a 50/50 chance he would go and he had gone as far as he could with Wolves”.
Tonight Kenny takes a mammouth step and discloses, “Wolves had no option but to let him go as he desired the move”. Kenny for all his faults has never gone public like that, a very unusual step.
75 % of our bloggers have said, “there was something wrong on the pitch”. Brighton was a classic, Afobe lauding it up taking a bow the rest of the team huddled together in the centre circle, a team apart.
Afobe playing his own strange game week in week out and eventually getting dropped.
I am as passionate as the next Wolves fan, but if he wants to go to Boringmouth for better prospects, then stuff him I say. From what I witnessed today we were no better off or worse off without him. If he gets us £12 million ish then all well and good. He’s not been tearing up stands this season, and playing in the position that he prefers, “his words not mine” has he cost us.
I want to see players play for the manager/coach, play for the team and play for us fans. Afobe has not been doing this of late and many, many folk have grown weary of his antics.
£12 million in the arse pocket, let’s get players in that want to play for this club, as stated above, his arse will warm a bench somewhere amongst 12000 crowds, I can’t be arsed with feckin prima donna’s.
Give me the 14 players that tried their best today, that’s all we ask of them and they gave their all, whete’s the feckin loyalty in the world.
Morgan & Moxey I worship the shit storm that will eventually befall you pair of aerosols.
And by the way. We deserved something from that game today, beaten by a good goal not a good team.
Wolves Ay I
Memory of the day.
After 90 minutes of piss taking directed at the Ammers fans, we broke into a rendition of:-
We know what we are,
We know what we are,
Sarcastic Bastards
We knowwhat we are….
Priceless 🙂
I’m sorry Stu but I disagree, if Jackett had supported Afobe by playing to his strengths instead of leaving him isolated up front on his own then he would not want to leave and as for Bournmoth good luck to them they have an owner and manager who have real passion and pride for there club sadly we don’t.
I repeat what I’ve already blogged Afobe like the fans was promised he would have a team built around him and to his strengths, we have let the most natural goal scorerer since Bully go and he’s a thought, how many goals would Bully have scored up front on his own with Mutchy………!
Should read without Mutchy….
!
Paul,
That’s the beauty of this blog, we say what we believe and what we want, If you disagree that’s fine amd I respect your comments. I worked in a nano state where everyone kissed someone else’s arse to tow the party line, that’s probably why I never fitted in. This blog gives us feeedom to express OUR opinions and that’s what I love about it, so never apologise because at the end of rge day, Weemall Wolves ay we.
Something I forgot about yesterday…..
The West Ham fans were stunned to silence for 85 minutes of the game by our amazing away following, we were clapped by them as they left the ground, at least something’s right in this club.
🙂
Afobe sale could be a master stroke, he might as well go now with his star reasonably high as at the end of the season when the money runs out. Interesting Siggy has now gone down injured again; surely this will mean a fresh signing or two up front this month to go with the defensive reinforcement we have been promised. Meanwhile I’m looking forward to see Ebo get a run out or two.
On the other hand, I’m gutted the most exciting signing of Kennys tenure has departed. Had we been in the top 6 I doubt it would have happened but unfortunately with the loss of Sako and Dicko we just couldn’t recover in time. That’s the tale of the tape I’m afraid.
Still we mustn’t let this destroy the good work done in the last 4 games (without much input from Benik). Whoever plays now we can only hope they are committed to making it at Wolves for the foreseeable.
Saw an interview with a wolves fan about the Afobe sale . He admitted he was a top player and would be badly missed …. But would WE pay 12 million for him ?
No
The money will disappear once again. Just like fletcher and Jarvis. A couple of token signings blah di blah di blah.
Frustration beckons . Probably will be the same with Dicko this time next year or following summer window if he shows form again.
Honest board? No.
Selling club? Yes.
We are back to McCarthy style honest performances with a footballing coach.
What’s the common denominator?
Club transfer policy.
So Afobe has gone, partly, it is said, because he wouldnt or couldnt fit into the coach’s tactics.
So who is at fault here?
We know he’s a good player, because we were told so, and he proved it last season.
So what’s changed, with the guy we were going to build a team around?
A good player dont become bad over a summer break.
A good coach dont become a bad one during the same time period.
Greed
That is the root cause
Rudolph made the decision to asset strip and sell well before the start of the season.
His instructions were to get rid of any saleable player and not spend any money on bringing in new ones
Stearman sold for everything but footballing reasons.
Afobe not sold in the summer as the bids were not high enough, but KJ was told to change tactics, become defensively minded with the set up and coaching, thus pissing Afobe off, so he will want away, and hope some dummy will up the offer, which they have.
Watch him blossom now and help keep Bournmuff in the Prem.
Its as obvious as the grease on moxey’s head.
Graham will be next, on the bench for a winnable cup tie.
What baffles me is how two so greedy rapists fail to see the big picture of promotion equals even richer pickings and a much more saleable club.
They really are not as smart as they want us to believe.
Fowb
Your right Clive. Wolves are in a state of limbo on and off the pitch these years will become known as the The Dark Age darker and duller even than the Bhatti era because nothing positive is going to happen while Morgan and Moxey suck every drop of blood out of Wolves .
The worrying thing is who next are they, and I include Jackett in this he isolated Afobe playing him up front on his own to who’s orders . I don’t blame Afobe one bit he to was promised the world and given an atlas just like the fans.
So will it be McDonald, Graham are they going to be the next ones to ” want to leave” yeah Kenny. I’m sorry but Kenny is just as culpable in this saga it’s another idicatation of his weakness and willingness to do Morgan and Moxeys bidding I’ve no respect left at alll for Jackett…….none !
I agree with all comments here. I’m just waiting to see who gets sold off next, most likely Graham, but I can’t see any decent replacements coming in – they won’t spend the money needed, that’s been proven time & time again!
I’ve been baffled with the lone striker scenario as it’s clearly not worked so it’s a clear case of WTF is happening at WV1??!!!
At this rate no decent player will want to sign for us & no possible buyer will be interested, certainly not if we drop to the lower leagues yet again.
Congrats M & M, your intrepid ownership has completely ruined our once great club. It’s clear you don’t give a monkeys left one but we all do!!
Strangley today i am feeling invigorated and optimistic.
Forget the fact that we have a pathetic, timid, money grabbing tosser as an owner who couldn’t give a flying fig for the club or us, the fans.
Forget the fact that we have a fat, greasy CEO who understands less about football than the dining table I am currently sat at.
Forget the fact that we have a ‘yes man’ as a manager.
Forget the fact that we have just sold our star player to little Bournemouth with the chances of very much if any of the transfer fee being reinvested in the team.
Forget the fact that Afobe’s cheap/in house replacement Sigurdasson has buggered his back again leaving us with a strike force consisting of a journeyman loanee unable to get into Cardiff’s team and who couldn’t hit a cow’s backside with a banjo from two yards plus an untried 17 year old kid.
Forget all of that. Whilst annoying and frustrating it is not important. All those things will change at some point hopefully sooner rather than later.
What IS important are us, the fans, the loyal long suffering lunatics who follow the old gold and black through thick and thin. As the magical Stan Cullis once said – you only get one life and I gave mine to Wolves. That is us, all of us to a man (or woman).
Yesterday I went to the game and despite the loss – a draw would have been fair – not only had a great day out but was reminded of and transported back to those balmy days of the 70’s.
To begin with on the way there on the London underground there were Wolves fans EVERYWHERE. I went to a pub in Stepney – about 7 miles from the ground – to meet up with Matt (London Wolves Loyal) and Stuart (StuWolf). I had my colours hidden as I approached – Stepney can be a fierce old place at the best of times! – but entered to find a sea of old gold and black. The fabulous London Wolves Supporters Club were there too but more of that anon. After a few ales (Adnam’s Ghost Ship, mmmmmm), a bite to eat and a few songs we set off for the game. Again Wolves fans were everywhere, our tube train was packed and the Wolves songs were belted out in that most confined of spaces.
When we eventually got in to the ground – missed the first 7 or 8 minutes I think – we joined the rest of the 3,000 (YES THREE THOUSAND!) Wolves fans, young and old, who proceeded to sing, chant, shout and support the team for virtually the whole 90 minutes non-stop. The atmosphere and the humour was fabulous, the noise often deafening. Doubt the Hamsters, who were out-vocalised throughout, have seen such visiting support for years. Could this be? A team having a poor season with no money, up for sale, just sold their star player and mid-table in the Chumpionship being supported like this? Yes, because WE ARE WOLVES. Always will be despite the crap that rains down on us by the arseholes currently running our club.
As I made my way home (an hour queue in the pouring rain to get on a train at Upton Park!) I was thinking to myself that can you imagine that if we can get 3,000 fantastic fans going all that way at the moment in the circumstances we currently find ourselves in then the potential of our club is off the scale. A new owner with vision and ambition as well as money and a CEO who understands football and our club could transport us into the promised land, not just as a ‘struggling to survive’ 3rd tier Money League side but as a club capable of competing in the top 8. If someone as dim as me can see that then surely to goodness someone else MUST be able to?
So re-invigorated I am. Wolves and Wolves fans are special, unique, fabulous. We will be great again and never has the ‘out of darkness cometh light’ been more true. This time when the light comes I believe it will be bright, beaming almost blinding light.
P.S. London Wolves Supporters Club – they will be 50 years young this season (wonder if the Club or Morgan or Moxey cares?) and back in 1967 as an 11 year old living in London and knowing no other Wolves fans I became a member. For several years one of the founders of the LWSC called Dave Slape used to get me a programme from every away game (then as now I get all the home programmes on subscription) and post it to me each week. Not only that but he included a handwritten match report with each programme. I never met him and my membership lapsed about 1975 I guess. Yesterday in that pub in Stepney I met Dave for the first time and had a tear in my eyes as I shook his chand and thanked him for what he had done almost 50 years ago. Like I said Wolves fans are special!
I have to add a footnote here for Bedford Wolf,
Brilliant written account of what I limp wristedly tried to portray, well done that man.
But what you don’t realise about dave Snape is that he is Bulgarian, and little known to us mere mortals is that the word Chand means enourmous Penis in Bulgarian.
So I am thrilled that Bedford Wolf was able to finally shake Dave’s Chand after all these years.
Sorry buddy.
Left the door wide open there.
Stu
🙂
In my defence when I got to that bit I had my 22 month old grandson sitting on my lap and he likes pressing buttons. Anyway one man’s chand/hand is another man’s Snape/Slape.
Things I have read this morning;
1. Afobe will be on £50,000 a week at Bournemouth. £50,000! At Bournemouth!
2. Arsenal do have a sell on clause though it’s not known how much.
3. We are going to sign Agbonglahor.
4. We are signing a Senegalese left back M’Bengue from Rennes in France.
