As many of us wait for news of our schools reopening fully, it appears that a pocket of Wolverhampton has been beavering away in the classroom all along.

With Nuno representing the most studious head teacher we’ve known for a generation and with months to prepare for our long awaited return, should we ever have doubted a spectacle like this in the days leading up to the game?
No stone is ever left unturned during a typical working week under this genius as it is, so when he’s got three months to draw up a timetable of work – with the calibre of students he’s assembled in his dressing room – then a result like this was always likely.
The ’P’ in performance owed everything to power, pace and endless preparation. To the pundits charged with marking the work, it was an ‘A’ grade submission.
It was understandable many of us would be so unsure of how we’d fare in the build-up to kick-off amid such uncertainty. What have we been able to do during lockdown and how would it stack up compared to our rivals? Would gaps close as a result? With a lack of atmosphere in grounds, might we expect more anomalies? On yesterday’s evidence and with Nuno at the helm, any gaps between our rivals might just be about to widen.
The formation made perfect sense before kick-off, with Dendoncker drafted in to midfield to ensure we could up our possession percentage; a crucial factor at times like these. It ensured we ended the first half as the better side with more chances created, compared to one good Fornels opening for West Ham near the break.
Then, as Nuno would have planned, tired legs began to show after so much inactivity of late – aided by the non-stop running of Jota. Cue Adama Traore and the hosts were put to bed, in dazzling, scintillating fashion.
In a cameo that you’d be hard pressed to think of any other player in the Premier League being able to muster he was simply unplayable; directly assisting the first for Raul with a devilish run and cross, and some fleet footed wizardry to release Doherty for Neto’s netbusting second.
With nobody inside an empty ground to make a murmur, the noise of a pin dropping could be heard when the substitution was made, if not a collective shudder from the home side.
It was the perfect away performance yielding not just three points, but one or two envious looks from Premier League classmates sat around us in the table.
In other words, textbook stuff.

Steady and very professional performance, great substitutions too. 3 points against Bournemouth will do nicely too. Well done lads.
A gold star for the author too. Nice work
Typical performance by Wolves, solid in the first half without scoring, and upping the ante in the second for the win. And Adamas’s value just increased by another 10 million, must be approaching 100 M by now! Dig deep Klop dig deep, or no go!!
A very good team that was in dire need of a break……..and now they’ve had one.
The mind boggles for what the rest of the “season” may bring.
Brilliant all round team performance which includes the management team. Pedro has such potential- he reminds me of Luis Suarez.
Top teams do that and that’s wot we are coyw Penk wolfs
Nice to see more folk joining the blog, welcome people!
Some good comments there , enjoy this great blog.
Dunston Wolves
Hopefully without Suarez’s unhealthy appetite for ears.
As well as swearing and racism no Earism on this blog please.
‘Ere ‘ere!!
…or that timeless classic: ‘shoulder of Chiellini’, great with a bit of mint sauce!
This was an accomplished display. I always thought we were in first gear. When Adama and Neto came on it gave us a bit of momentum. And there you go. Job done. Nuno the true philosopher afterwards. Lamenting the absence of fans. Advocating their return as soon as possible. Classic Nuno . Classic Wolves. Victory v Bournemouth and I will really believe in the 4th place finish. FWAW!
A word about the class of Neto. The manner in which his goal was taken is worthy of analysis.
Watching a replay in slow motion it is clear that from the moment the cross was on its way, he knew instinctively what he was going to do. Rather than go to meet the cross, you can see that he deliberately hangs back and waits for the ball to come to him. He has already identified the volleying opportunity, and then shows the huge technical skill to execute with devastating effect. Absolutely magnificent technique.
This guy is going to be the real deal. He has the lot.
Really like that comment. Fabulous execution of a very difficult skill.
Having said that, fabulous work again by Nuno and his back up team for identifying talent, bringing it to our club, working with the players to improve them then giving them opportunity to express their talent. That goes for all of them. Think also of the effect he has had on the supporters and the city as a whole. Huge.
The Sunday Mail carries the headline (for Klopp) ” Let’s build a dynasty”.
That would be great if it’s Nuno’s dream too.
Wow, what a restart! Honestly I was nervous because I thought players may be a bit rusty, etc., but this surpassed all expectations. Outstanding!
And yes, Neto is going to be special. Another one for the Wolves!
Go Wolves!
Fantastic effort from both players and coaches. Onward and upward.
Go Wolves!
You can see the useless big six friendly reporters now
Hold on, I thought we’d sorted wolves out, Traore to klopp, Neves and Jota to spuds, jimi to Man U
Who’s bleeding Neto ?
Where can we link him?
And they haven’t even seen Podence or Jordao yet .
What a season climax we could be seeing
Tatdmf
Utw
A good start to the end of the season, never in any trouble in my opinion.
Noticed that MoTD has not improved. The highlights (so called) only seemed to show the Hammers on top. Not a mention of the first 10 – 15 mins when we were all over them. Nothing changes, however to be fair the so called experts were complimentary when reviewing the game but I did notice that they were advocating Raul joining a bigger club. (Manure they must be having a laugh)
Yeah Tipton MOTD at it again. Only Jota ‘s effort shown before the winning goals. Meanwhile WHU ‘s feeble efforts, non on target, highlighted making it look as though were having the better game. Is there a WBA supporter lurking in BBC’s editorial department?
I don’t want to get bogged down in negativity after such a brilliant performance but re MOTD, they didn’t even show the mind-boggling tackle and crossfield pass by Neves to Jota. If anything had have come of that we’d be adding it to the ever expanding compilation of Neves classics.
A* for that write-up old boy.
Funny to look back at the preview and one of the West Ham fans saying:
‘wolves are an absolute teachers’ pet of a club and will probably one of the most fit, disciplined and well prepared outfits going into the restart. ‘
He must be feeling pretty smug now 😀
Traore and Neto will rightly take the headlines but I also thought Neves was exceptional in midfield.
The Amount I now pay for Sky per Month having added my Broadband and BT Sports, is what I average on one match day to sit in front of the tv on a super padded warm seat.
Food for thought there.
Like Cheesy, I don’t think we ever got out of first gear, to be honest we never really had to either. A good solid all round performance with two excellent substitutions and equally good goals.gone are the days of it rolling over the line off the arse of Leon Clarke at Leeds, or Michael Jacobs rolling it over the line whilst In the process of falling over.
I had us down for a slow start and to get beat, nobody happier than me this morning, Nuno praising the backroom and medical staff for how they got the guys ready speaks volumes.
As a footnote, I’m absolutely delighted to see Nuno and Wolves are to sit down soon and sort his future contract out, losing Traore, Neves, Jimenez or Dendonker I could bear, as they can Easily be replaced.
Now Nuno, that’s a different thing altogether.
Next job Nuno,
Wiping the smirk of Eddie Howe’s face……
Key point. Losing Nuno is unthinkable but I’d imagine he and Fosun will have anticipated the poaching of Traore, Jiminez and Neves. I wonder though. How committed are they to playing for a manager who has transformed them … and even if we don’t make it into the Champions League.
Bring on Bournemouth.
I, and I think all of us here, could see how the match was going and how it would end. West Ham could too but they were like rabbits caught in the headlights. Adama and Pedro bedazzled and befuddled them then supplied their deadly coup-de-grace with predictable aplomb. How frustrating for them to know what was coming but be able to do sod all about it? How satisfying for us?
At least they had the consolation of the coverage by Auntie Beeb which must have made Wham fans think they ever had a toehold in the game. Deluded fools. Nice of Auntie to try to cheer them up though.
Overall, fantastic stuff from Nuno and the lads and I have a feeling that the Nuno dream is becoming more and more of a reality. For sure mine is.
Very true. Nuno’s team appear to take to the task well prepared and with the confidence to use the tools coached into them to good effect. Always humble, always seeking to improve. By contrast, David Moyes admitted his team were fearful of Adama’s ability to change a game and, by implication, expecting to lose. The negative body language of his players prior to kickoff and his nervous demeanour reinforced this. They have a timid, losing mindset and when playing a competitive sport there is only one result. No loss to the PL.
A very satisfying win that. Wolves a top Prem side now but as others have said, our headline grabbers will be courted by the moneybags elite sides.
Agree Neves for me mom, & Coady was top, the latter should be in Gareth Southgate’s thoughts now especially after taxi gate & the pace of Harry McGuire!
For Moyes it was Adama who was unplayable, but they didn’t do very well against the others either. Although all Wolves fans will admit Traore & Neto are matchwinners.
Fans now being virtual, the comfy armchair a pint and snacks on the side. This is the new match day experience! The pesky adverts drive me mad but overall the new fan experience were not too bad.
Really hope it’s COVID-19 safe for a return to proper fandom come September!
But can see the days coming when you’ll have the choice between a virtual and a real season ticket!
Virtual season ticket ??????????.
What a superb idea .!!!!!
I could see fosun and a few other big clubs getting their teeth into that one.
As for the media stupidity about our stars off elswhere to so called bigger clubs well
i think we have to rise above all that shite as supporters or we just get angry my advice… ignore them or just laugh it off. I firmly believe no one is going anywhere as they have all signed up to the project which is real not pie in the sky and lets face it nuno is there god as well as ours and as a player you couldn’t wish for a better boss.
Yesterday was interesting as most players were well on their game.
i thought dendonker was a tad rusty and bolys distribution was crap but his defending in general was spot on.
This was a poor west ham side managed by a bloke that just cant do it at this level so i wont get too carried away but we managed the game superbly did what we had to and got the hell out of there. very very professional .
On to boringmouth and the same destruction derby is on the cards but i look at the table and see we have to start scoring more goals to get on an even keel with the mancs.
Great oppurtunity to get some goals here and i wonder if nuno will go for it i think he should as this team is about to light up bigstyle .
The stars are in alignment and the football gods are on our side .
LETS GO FOR IT !!
I’ve never really had much of an axe to grind about the Beeb and their coverage of Wolves. Mr Shearer always waxes lyrical about Nuno and The Nunoettes, even though we are usually low down the list of matches shown.
Yesterday made me change my mind.
First me and the PMDG’er sat watching Football Focus and, by the end of it, I was starting to think that we had got the wrong day. Did they mention Wolves? If they did I must have dozed off.
All was fine though, we caught the free Sky stream kindly supplied by the Wolves and saw us look pretty good for the first game back, dominate possession and score two cracking goals.
Then later, after a few celebratory sherbets, we both watched MOTD and our jaws were dropping almost as much as when we first saw the Pedro Neto volley rocket like Adama Traore on Speed into the back of the net.
How on Earth did we win that game when West Ham were all over us and we scored from our only two chances?
David Moyes said that they didn’t deserve to lose 2-0. Well, after watching the highlights, I had to agree with the poor chap.
Come on BBC – as the ‘popular’ Radio 5 Live pundit Chris Sutton would say:-
“You’re better than that!”
Now to the real game.
‘A Tale of Two Subs’.
Neto is going to every bit as good as we hoped he would.
And Adama…
Everybody knows exactly what he intends to do – but, failing ripping his shoulder out of its socket – no poor sod can stop him.
This man is a complete one off. There is no-one else in any class of football who is capable of doing what he can do.
He is priceless!
Long may he remain in Nuno’s Pack.
Agreed, Doog.
Adama has made me eat my words the last 12 months, because apart from his pace, I didn’t really see a footballer.
Fast forward a year and he is now looking the real deal. Yesterday his awareness of his team mates was spot on, that delicious drag back at pace and cool lay off to Doherty to supply the cross for Neto’s goal summed it up.
Did anyone notice the embrace between Adama and Nuno at the final whistle? It looked like a father and the return of his favourite son after a long absence, with total respect between the two of them – priceless!
UTW!
Yes, it was heart warming to watch. It’s that sort of man management that will help keep our stars at Molineux.
Is there a manager you would rather work under?
Simply put – NO
Stevie showcase and I were just chatting, and a point that is becoming very clear now Iv’e had some kip is, our that backroom wizards may have just given us an edge over teams around us with their lockdown training schedules.
What a pleasant change for us wanderers to watch our team play well & score 2 crackers with another clean sheet.
Wot a shock that we was so prepared for the inaugural game back.
No need for us to wax lyrical, it’s what we are becoming used too. No fear of any opponents, but reserved in judgement of winning ever game cus we not quite at that level today! (But not far off)
Shocked that anyone thinks that a team doing the double over Cithe would be so good &/or prepared.
But we know the truth, the truth will prevail, this club (not just the team) is on the ascendancy and I reckon there only be two players leaving: 1) them that don’t buy in to this project 2) them that Nuno doesn’t want to keep.
Missing being there? Yes – expecting more of the same? Yes
But I’ll take this after years & years of dismay.
COYW and long to reign over us Nuno Rex
No one outside the pack has accepted yet that Wolves are no longer a selling club! Why would we lose our best players to our competitors anyway? I’ve seen comments that a deal is in place for Traore to Liverpool!! Yeah right! Have they not seem Nuno with Traore? Why would they leave for a so called bigger club?
The team looked eager and raring to go. Ok they lacked some sharpness but with such a long gap between playing that’s to be expected.
3 points more and we can keep going. Onto the next one!
Of course Traore is off to Liverpool. They need him as back up for their regular front three and Adama can’t wait to go stand in their shadows.
Well said!
Great result for the lads. Just had a quick check on the predictions for the game and ONLY two people went for DRAW and two for a DEFEAT…(shame on you !) Looking like a record number of correct score (0-2) predictions also, well done.
Great to have some ‘proper’ football back though disappointing not to see it in the flesh…so to speak.
Nuno got his tactics spot on again, and while everyone is waxing lyrical, rightly so, about Traore and Neto I must give a mention to Neves his all round game was fantastic with some brilliant defensive tackles. Also Doherty his cross for ‘the goal’s goal was superb, Jonny too his work rate is fantastic, but let’s cut to the chase they were all fantastic!
Who likes the canned crowd noise? Personally I prefer it to the silence of the Olympiacos game that we watched in Athens
All in a all a good restart to the season, but what’s happening about the remainder of the European games?
Keep looking for a word of that I can disagree with Lowves, but I can’t find one. Sums it all up perfectly.
Might be interesting to have a vote on the canned noise. I thought that I’d hate it (as I do for canned laughter on tv comedies) but I do actually prefer it to the silence option. Having said that the noise on the German football does come across as more realistic. It’ll be interesting to see if any chants are used during our home games.
I much prefer the crowd noise. But not sure how realistic it is. Not heard a single ‘fuck VAR’ chant yet
Sorry bout the Fry pic. Thought it would appear in that little circle
Steve.
You have to go into the settings on the blog site home page and add it as an avatar.
Or just ask Thomas and he will send you the link.
Thanks
West Ham were the poorest team to play at Molineux before the lockdown so I’m pleased to win , in the past that has been a problem but once again Nuno has sorted it.
All the speculation about selling AT and RJ is annoying especially when fuelled by Lineker, he says ” Wolves fans will hate me for saying this but…” Too right mate, we do.
These guys are playing regularly, winning matches, have the support of the manager, loved by the fans so lots of reasons not to move ..unless it’s a money thing for them and a healthy profit for Fosun.
I don’t hate Sineker “because” of his comments, I hated him well before that.
No one wants to loose any of our players but people like Jimenez has given a lot to Wolves and at his age range deserves to earn mega bucks like other class players do.
With this in mind it looks like teams are doing their homework and boxing clever in an attempt to get their man.
Juve are offering two players plus a ransom In an effort to twist our arm, we are in need of a defender and a backup winger.
This makes good business sense to me.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8444539/Juventus-set-offer-Daniele-Rugani-Federico-Bernardeschi-Wolves-Raul-Jimenez-deal.html
My opinion, (not treason)
Would we really be interested in Juve also rans? Seems to me that thorough research is carried out before we acquire players so player plus cash deals will be unlikely.
Ped Ant.
Where does it say I said “we are interested” in Juve also rans.
I’m highlighting what is allegedly being offered.
As for doing their thorough research, let me just point you to Jesus, (Real Madrid also ran) Leo Bonatini, (also ran) and Patrick Catrone (Future World class superstar) who finally tipped the scales on the whether to get rid of Kevin Thelwell, the man in place to do this thorough research.
At this precise moment, we have no one in place for the thorough research, but if the papers are to believed, then we are in for another also ran from wait for it…..(Nottingham Forest) sorry for swearing Newark Wolf. So the chances of us getting World Class players in this window Is slim.
I’m going to be you now.
Neymar, Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes (now at Man U) Werner and the like are NOT coming to Wolves anytime soon, so unfortunately much to the displeasure of you and others on this site, I’m afraid the stark reality until we do something better that beating the West Hams of this league more than 2-0, we are going to be having more also rans in amongst the cherry picked up and coming starlets.
I take your point partly, Stu, but Patricio, Moutinho, Jota, Neves, Dendoncker, Traore, Jonny, Neto, Vinagre, Saiss, Boly and Jiminez were hardly also rans and, between them, make up a pretty good squad I think you’ll agree.
Also Bonatini did pretty well in the first half of the promotion season and his goals helped set us on the path to where we now are. Given our league position and Europa league winning possibilities we are going to be setting our sights on Champions league calibre players, such as many of those mentioned above. Like it or not? I like it a lot and so I’m sure do you and all fellow bloggers. All the best, Ant.
Not many failures there, Ant. Research relates to a player’s character aswell as ability which is another reason why player plus cash deals will be unlikely. Anyway I’m in the Clive camp of no-one goes unless Dr Nuno agrees.
Ant.
I could not agree more with all three of you guys, (Ant, Sea Pigeon and Dances) I don’t know how long you’ve been reading the blog, as some folk read it years before contributing.
If you have been around for a while you will already know I am one of the biggest fans of the up and coming talent which must include 95% of the current team probably 100% if you count Doc as he was dropped to the bench by some of our previous coaches until Nuno spotted the potential.
As you eluded to, like most on here, I do like it a lot, well actually very much indeed.
On Bonatini, I Will reserve my right to totally disagree with you on him, had the management not Insisted he be trialled to death, I feel someone else in his slot would have scored many, many more. But again that’s only my opinion from the terraces.
Stu. As much as I would love more world-class players at Wolves, surely our bag is not really signing the finished article but rather developing it? That seems to be Fosun’s strategy as well as Nuno’s.
Yes, the cherry-picked up-and-coming starlets are very much in our sights. I for one had to Google Pedro Neto when we signed him. Plus, any gems from the academy. As for also-rans, I sincerely hope they will keep running, well away from Molineux, maybe towards Sandwell…?
Dances,
100% in agreement with that,
You’ve been on this blog long enough to know my passion for watching the youngsters coming through, i.e. Jota, Costa, Vinagre, Conor Ronan and the best so far my grandsons Favourite (and mine) Pedro Neto.
I trust Nuno and his judgement, the also rans I highlighted have all been moved along by Nuno.
Firstly, to echo Stu’s words from above, a warm blog welcome to all our new readers/contributors.
We’ve had three months of so called journalists spouting their “expert” reporting skills, about our stars, and we have a squad of them, going to the “big” clubs as soon as a price has been agreed.
What none of them has even faintly considered, is how any of our players will fare or improve under a different, and far inferior, management team from ours.
How can they not see the vast improvements the likes of Raul, Adama, Ruben, Diogo and Matt, nay ALL of our team, have made under Nuno and team?
They were also rans at other clubs, no one seeing their full potential, hence their sales to Wolves.
But Dr. N. saw.
And bought.
And improved.
And how they have flourished under his magical wing.
We are now the epitome of a team, everyone delighting and celebrating in every goal.
No more desultory handshakes or fist bumps of old.
Sheer unadulterated joy with all team mates.
Never before seen at The Mol.
The other point they all miss is the fact we do not need to sell to survive.
But, with the shrewdness we have seen over the past four years, we might not become a buying club either.
We have no need to cherry pick “stars” from other clubs, when we can source and improve lesser known players from anywhere in the world, as well as develop from our academy.
Plus, everyone at the club can see we are going places, and they all want to be part of it.
As for our guys deserving big pay days, as per the buzz worded headlines, I am sure when contract re negotiation times come along, Fosun, Jeff and Nuno will take care of our lads.
Yesterday was a training exercise, nothing more.
I have always liked West Ham for their footballing philosophy, but their current squad and manager are totally lacking in every department, and it showed yesterday.
Eddie How? and his boring mouth lot will be working out how to knobble Adama and Pedro on Wednesday, if they watch more than MOD highlights.
Talking of, Ol’ Big Ears, and mouth, has always hated Wolves ever since he was floored by Bully at World Cup 90, in Italy…………….allegedly.
A thoroughly deserved three points, and an excellent result fro St. James Park just now.
Onwards, upwards, and not a friggin’ swear word in sight.
Yet.
FOwb
One thinks, that one talks an awful lot of sense.
I would concede that the only one to go, will be with our blessings a la Afobe, Bennett, Douglas, Cavalero
Dr Nuno knows best
My grandchildren said to tell you, “THANK YOU.”
Blimey, full of accurate sensible comments that I 100% agree with!
One of this blogs classic posts Clive. Agree with every word.
Spot on Clive. Your best line being “When it comes to contract renegotiation, I’m sure Fosun, Jeff and Nuno will take care of our lads” . Let’s hope so, it would be good to hear that from the club, Nuno’s contract being the top priority. That is crucial to the project.
Doog. I too watched Football Focus yesterday. They showed highlights of games so far. Discussed them. Mainly Manute v Spurs of course. To be fair they had a feature on their first ever live Prem TV game. They announced 4 games today but didn’t actually mention West Ham v Wolves. They had a live reporter talking about Watford game from the ground. They had a live reporter talking about the Brighton game from the ground. And no. The Wolves game was not even mentioned. Not even reading the fixture out. Then Brighton (almost safe anyway) v Arsenal (mid table nobody’s) took centre stage on MOTD. I nearly spilled me lager when the Wolves match came on 2nd. We then saw Ian Wright discussing Bournemouth upcoming fixtures and it was laughable that he was indicating they really needed to get points out of the Wolves Newcastle games up next as then it was Man Utd (we are on the same points Wrighty). And finally to finish my moan I spotted a league table after all teams on 29 games. The table was based on no VAR this season. Wolves were 5th. Man Utd were 10th.
And why does Carlo Ancelotti’s left eyebrow always go about 3 inches above his right one when he is answering questions. ? Has it got covid 19?
I think it’s trying to socially distance itself from the other one.
If we can’t have earism Cheesey, then we’re certainly not having any eyebrowism.
We cannot have swearing, racism, earism OR eyebrowism but some leeway will be given to sarcasmism.
Great win none of our players are going any where Lineaker is a knobhead.
Me too…………..
Well I did say West Ham were shhhhh (not very good)
One win post lockdown doesn’t make us worldbeaters but the signs are very promising.
Continuing my moan about the BBC. I have just noticed there is no Match of the Day highlights show this Saturday coming at 10.30. Ok there is only 1 prem game which happens to be Villa v Wolves. Had the 1 game been Spurs v Arsenal I am pretty sure the BBC would have had a MOTD highlights show scheduled in on Saturday night.
Brilliant Traore, came on, three moves, all world class and 2 goals resulted. Been a big fan of his from day one. He will lose the magic the day he moves from under Uncle Nuno’s wing. Jota looked in dreamland and think Neto needs to start next game.
Well, I thought Jota’s tireless running at their defence helped knacker it and set things up for the brilliance of the last 20 minutes. I think we all knew that the hammers were punch drunk and played right into Nuno’s hands/tactics. Even Moyes admitted as much.
Kind of agree with that, but think Neto would have done it a bit better; need to rotate anyway.
Interesting stat coming up;
On first half performances we would be bottom of the League.
On second half performances we would be third.
Discuss
It is a very interesting stat mate. It is all down to the way Nuno plays. Keep it tight. And go for the jugular late on. The number of times we get goals between 70 and 90 minutes is telling. Also testament to the fitness regime. Sheffield utd at home was a classic example. Although we didn’t win we came back from a goal down as usual and the last 25 mins we were all over them but couldn’t quite sneak the win. That’s my theory anyway.
It ain’t over until the fat lady sings, game of 2 halves etc. Superior fitness and tactical changes explains it maybe? If we can improve first half performance and keep second half performance, the Champions League is ours.
This is a great video of an Arsenal fan praising Wolves…
I cried with happiness and pride watching that! Thanks Thomas.
Lovely stuff!
Clearly a man of taste.
Good to be back? Bloody marvellous to be back! I felt that the lockdown might benefit Wolves as we had played more games than any other team when we locked down. Plus Traore’s shoulder could recover after suffering several instances of assault and battery. Traore has scarily emerged even stronger and faster then before. Defenders are going to have to shoot him now to stop him. Clearly West Ham were scared stiff when he came on. Many commentators rightly call him unplayable when he’s on form. It’s not just Traore, we have a seriously good team. Jimenez has the happy knack of being in the right place at the right time. And Pedro Neto, what an amazing, sublime goal that was! Had Harry Kane scored it, the ‘experts’ on MOTD would still be waxing lyrical about it as I write, but it didn’t even get a mention. I spoke to a fellow Chelsea season-ticket holder this morning, who was so over the moon about beating Villa, with Sheffield and Wolves dropping points. It was news to him that Wolves won! That’s the level of under-estimation we’re faced with, and that will only go in our favour in matches.
PS: I forecast a 3-1 win for Wolves so at least I was right about the 2-goal margin. Interesting to ask what’s best, 2-0 or 3-1 ? I think 2-0 as it’s another clean sheet but I’m then denying someone another goal, which would add to their value. Either way I’m happy.
Good video that. I think the Arsenal fan reflects the admiration a lot of neutrals have for us. It’s
rather nice. I think there should be a health warning before Mildenhall watches though due to the colourful language on display!
Thomas
thx for the video clip of HUGHWIZZY…wonder how we could get him onto the MOTD team? Lovely to see the suffering of a Gunners supporter.
meantime a few random thoughts
1 there was a goal bound shot deflected off I think Coady…that was not going to be stopped by Patricio….in the past we would have been down 1-0
2 so everyone now knows what Traore is going to do….but so what? Great sports stars don’t surprise… they just can’t be stopped
Curry at 3 point line
Bonds at home plate
Gretzky skating towards puck
Lets just enjoy the experience of what might soon be a TEAM that’s unplayable
3 Every pro has a limited time at the top ..and at top money …and I for one would not begrudge Raul if someone offers him a Bale/Sanchez type deal…yes we would all be frustrated (and he might not be as happy) but getting financial security for the Jimenez family is I think an understandable motivation
4 Really happy to see a glimpse of MGW……hope that he is past his back issues and can soon join the rest of the group transformed by the powers of Nuno and his team into superb footballers
5 Looking at the last 8 games…no reason not to get 24 points( assuming no critical injuries) ,,,,then in August lets see the best of the Europa rest, bring home a trophy from Germany and sharpen up for CL next season
OODCL
I’m sure it’s not meant, Marin, but your point 3 is a little bit insulting to the vast majority of the populace because virtually EVERY footballer in the premier league has a contract that will give financial security to their family. As for Raul himself, he already has it in spades and his times at Benfica and Atletico are proof that the grass isn’t always greener. Personally, I don’t think he has any inclination to leave. He’s just angling for a better contract.
Fair point Hindsight
They are all only a bad knee injury away from end of career…he’s 29 I believe and I was just saying I wouldn’t begrudge him a massive pay day…by PL standards …no insult meant
Well, I have to hold my hands up and admit to being one of those doubting Thomases that went for the draw. I thought Wolves might be a tad rusty after the lengthy break and could need time adjusting to playing in library-like surroundings. I did say “prove me wrong” and they did!
I’m still smiling at the way Wolves toyed with the opposition and then, right on cue, delivered the coup de grace – twice. That Neto volley was a stunner that made me jump up from my cosy armchair.
Just one more thing: last night (well, Sunday evening) I sat down to see if Fosun could work their magic on the silver screen, as they were one of the producers of the latest Will Smith offering ‘Gemini Man’. I would put it in the ‘commendable’ bracket. Perhaps a remake of ‘Dances with Wolves’ next?
