I remember being at Villa Park 21 years ago for our last FA Cup semi-final appearance.
The atmosphere, the sense of occasion and if I’m honest, a game fairly low on quality.

Despite Arsenal being under par, there was never a moment I didn’t think they’d win, particularly after gifting them an early goal.
Things should be different on Sunday.
Watford
And we’re not the scrappy underdogs.
The bookies have Wolves down as marginal favourites, which is probably about right given their exploits in the big games and the slender advantage they hold in the Premier League.
We should all savour the occasion for sure then, but come kick-off make no mistake this is a bonafide opportunity to progress to the final and win the FA Cup.
Watford
The Hornets come into the game in good form. A second half demolition of Fulham was a nice morale booster after somehow failing to take anything from Old Trafford the weekend prior.
They also have the memory of a comfortable 2-0 win at Molineux earlier in the season to fall back on if they need any further belief.

I remember Abdoulaye Doucouré being untouchable in that game as their three man midfield rang circles around us in the first half.
Capoue and Pereyra got the goals and they along with Gerard Deulofeu are the danger men, playing off Troy Deeney who himself is into double figures for the season.
In the Premier League, they’ve scored seven more goals than Wolves but also conceded eight more.
That tallies in my head as I see them as a more direct, attacking team who leave some spaces in their defensive third.
Whatever happens on Sunday Javi Gracia has done a very good job and will surely be hanging around for at least one more season at Vicarage Road.

The opposite end
Some views lifted from the match thread on the Hornets Nest fans forum.
Wolves are a different side to when we turned them over at their place with them switching to a more solid 3-5-2 with Jiminez and Jota up top. The switch has led them to be more exposed on the flanks which should work in our favour and I’m sure Javi has a trick or two up his sleeve. Wolves tend to struggle against teams that sit deep and restrict space. I’d start with the same team that started on Tuesday with Pereyra raring to go after his wife going into labour during the match at Fulham. Gray to come on later and run at a stretched defence. Both teams to score but god knows what it will be.
The only positive about Wolves beating Man U last night is that Wolves only really seem to turn up against teams which are above them in the table, and we’re still one place below them.
Wolves
I can only see one potential selection dilemma for Nuno, which is whether to start Saiss or Bennett at the back.

Given the physical threat posed by Deeney there’s an argument to say Bennett would be better suited for the scrap.
But on that big Wembley pitch, if we’re going to play out from the back then Saiss gives us better distribution.
Based on what they’ve both done this season, I wouldn’t like to have to make the decision.
Vinagre did well against Man Utd but I can’t see Nuno overlooking the reliability of Jonny in a defensive capacity.
The news that Raul Jimenez has joined permanently is huge and another pleasing display of intent from the club that the goal is continued growth.
Predictions
No PL point up for grabs in the FA Cup, but well done to The Witley Wanderer, Pauluswolf, Andrew hadley, Lowves, DancesWithWolves, basherbaz, jazzwolf54 and Shrewdsimon for getting a maximum by correctly forecasting a 2-1 win over Man Utd.
Well done also to Teddy Eley who joins
As for Sunday, well it can only be one thing can’t it and that’s a Wolves victory. The fans deserve nothing more after decades of
I definitely rate Watford and they have all the tools to cause serious damage, but I think we’re more robust in midfield and sharper in attack than we were back in October.
If Wolves stay compact and do what they do well, which is break at speed when possession is turned over, I think we’ll win.
2-1.
If you’re going to Wembley, watching at home, in a pub or on the other side of the world, savour every second. You deserve it.
COME ON YOU WOLVES!

It’s 80 years since we last lost at Wembley and we won’t now especially as I’ve had a big bet at big odds to lift the trophy. Safe journey everyone.
Great write up Thomas and as things stand I’m on the other side of the world for this one…. I shall be getting my streaming sorted for 3am Monday morning.
There are some good reasons to think positive for this one….
The tactical hype in pronouncing Raul on a permanent deal….
The deafening noise of 34500 fanatics from Molineux…
The wide spaces of Wembley to showcase our modus operandi…
The resounding win over Man Utd on Tuesday….
And above all …. this is the year of the WOLF in the FA Cup.
Enjoy you lot and those sat in my seat!!
Wolves 2 v 1 Watford
Steve Showcase and his son, “thank you”
How are you going to watch the stream from Wembley in New Zealand, turn the telly upside down or stand on your head?
I pondered the dislike button….but seeing as you promised to get me pissed on the 18th May in Uxbridge …I ‘liked’ your wit.
Really struggling with how I’m going to watch this as there seems to be ‘an iron curtain’ around the two islands.
However I know that I’ll probably be able to hear you so give it large mate.
I shall certainly be handstanding during and after the match….
Thank you Twix
Only 1am for me in Sydney.
I will join you doing handstands when we win.
Seriously considering going to the final but not sure how to get a ticket.
Let me know tomorrow Mosman if we make it.
I believe there is a mechanism for accommodating folks like yourself.
Stuwolf will certainly know and if this fails I’m sure that someone, somewhere will be good for a ticket.
Hi Mosman
I am over in UK now to watch some games and the club have been fantastic in looking after me. Got tix to ManU game which was the best experience, and I am going to Wembley today. Contact the club as they do have a few tickets for overseas fans. Can’t wait for today. COYW
I think this is going to be a real ding-dong battle, and Dendonker could be key to that ding-dong if he puts his stamp on the midfield. It’ll be a nail-biter, but I’ve got to go with a Wolves win. 2-1.
2 more sleeps
Very nervous be much more nervous for this semi if we were to play city in final
I’m in club Wembley seats for this one which I hope will be a amazing experience if we win
Good luck to all our fans for tomorrow
It’s really hard to call I must admit. I don’t know what it is but I just have this feeling we’ll do it by the odd goal.
Even though we’re a completely different side since October with our 3-5-2 system, I do worry about Watford’s MF and how they stifled us in October. Huddersfield managed to press our 3 man MF into submission a few weeks back, and I thought we overcame that problem when we said goodbye 343. Ultimately though I don’t think we’ll see such aggressive pressing tactics from Watford this time around.
Like I say, it’s going to be a very even game. I hope we can get off to a fast start, score an early goal and then control things from there. If not, I fear we’ll be going beyond the 90 minutes.
Hard match Watford are good side but Wolverhampton wanderers are just that not better 3-1 to the WOLVES
Sorry I meant Wolverhampton wanderers are the better team 3-1 to the WOLVES
The waiting is nearly over folks. Apprehensive , nervous , excited . The thought of going to Wembley with my son unbelievable ! Come what may on the day win, loose or draw I will still be so proud of my team and there achievements . The memories of this season I will hold close to my heart . Anyway, enough of the sentiment……
That twat Merson is at it again . Reckons Watford will be too much physically for Wolves .
Look Merson you struggle to sit the right way round on the toilet mate let alone predict the outcome of an FA Cup semi final . Do us all a favour and fook off !
Wim Wolves aye we and wim gonna WIN !!!
2-1 Wolves FC
Imagine getting paid a six figure sum by S**te Sports just to *reckon* out loud that a team with some Portugese players will get easily muscled off the ball.
No English sports broadcaster will ever get a penny from me.
Just as I had an uncanny premonition before a ball had been kicked in all four quarter finals (it was that we would play Watford in the semi final) I had another one last night as I sat there watching Paranormal Lockdown (you know- where some mad bloke sleep in a haunted coffin or sits in an electric chair where prisoners were executed ). The same uncanny feeling came across me and it is this : Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 Watford 0. It is our year. No doubt. Even Adrian Durham off Talk Sport has been saying Wolves will win the FA cup because he ‘just has a feeling’ and he supports Peterborough Utd. Our record at Wembley is great and we will enjoy the wide open spaces. Troy Deeney sounds like he ought to be driving Thunderbird 3 in orbit and to be fair that is where most of his attempts will end up. Hoping the Sandwell Turd Foster is in goal for Watford. we owe him one for his tweets after Watford beat us at Molineux along the lines that he hadn’t had so much fun since the 5-1. We will see. We will see. What goes around comes around. Well hoping to be in Marylebone for about 10.15 Sunday morning then off on the tube to find a Spoons as most pubs in London don’t open till 12 noon. Our mini army is 8 strong. Expect some serious beer drinking and celebrations after!! Come on the mighty Wolves. WWFC 1 Watford 0.
Expecting a hard game with physical action plus a degree of technical craft that both teams can bring to the game.
Everyone knows Deeney likes to put himself about and will look to bully our danger men: e.g. Jota.
He and our other craftsmen can look after themselves but need to avoid being drawn into a kicking contest which would play into Watford’s hands.
I expect a tight game with Wolves just edging it.
My wife and I will be there on the day and wish all Wolves supporters, wherever they may be watching, a great day. See you all at the Final!
Yeah see you there mate. I’ll be the one in jeans and a Wolves top, gold and black scarf.
Can the real Sleachy please stand up?
Just wonder if Nuno will throw a curved ball and put Rui in goal ?
Nope. Next!
Hope not JR got us this far……he deserves his spot
Looking forward to Sunday although my son has not managed to get a ticket,so I shall be wending my own lonely way to Wembley from Suffolk; not quite the same when you can’t share the experience.
Make no mistake this will be as hard a game as we have faced this season; Capoue and Decoure are superb; hopefully the inclusion of Dendoncker to our midfield will go some way towards providing a better performance than when we last met.
Debenhams,
Gutted your son didn’t get a ticket, but seriously, you won’t be lonely, there’ll be 34,549 of your officials mates & probs a few in the Watford half too.
Reckon if you get to the boozers in the East End it’ll even feel like home.
Well, Debenham, I’ll be wending my way alone from Derbyshire via a friend’s place in Oxford, coach and tube, then meeting my ex-bro-in-law, a Watford fan, for a fraternal walk down Olympic Way before I join 33000 mates and battle commences! Nervous, I must say, because Watford certainly did a number on us at Molineux – similar approach to us but, on that day, quicker on and with the ball and physically stronger. But that was then…….Moutinho’s craft, Dendoncker’s drive, Neves’ strength and one of those long distance strikes to wipe the smile off Foster’s face, Raul & Jota hitting them etc etc. Gotta be us. Hasn’t it??
This is going to be as much about Nuno’s game plan as about the players.
Will he and his assistants choose the correct strategy?
1-2. Wolves to win.
Well regardless of the outcome our boys have done us proud this year. That is everyone involved top to bottom and fans and especially the unsung heroes in the medical room etc keeping that physio bench free practically all year.
3 – 2 to the boys in Old Gold and although the Wolverhampton diaspora in the far flung corners of the globe (Mid East for me at the minute) won’t be in the home of football, we will be using our powers of the pack to send all the best vibes to you guys there….
Is it too early to throw a corny suggestion for a Wolves Wembley song into the mix?
Enjoy it all folks, I was at the ’79 and ’81 Semis and never really felt especially with the ’79 one that we would win…..this time is different though….regardless of the result I just want the team to turn up and give it their ALL which I am sure they will

That is a jolly nice song. Let us sing like we ay never song before on Sunday. Yo con Tek the boy out of the Black Country but yo cor Tek the Black Country out of the boy. FWAW.
Hoping it will be a different story in the middle of the park this time around. Dendonker will be playing.
Everything crossed.
Beers and bacon sarnies here at 8 am Sunday
Then off for triumphant bike ride before more beers that wipe out the fleeting fitness benefits
Most bloggers and pundits are expecting a tight game
Me? I’m feeling it could go like the game at Cardiff vs Colin’s Sheffield United
3-0
By half time then hang on like grim death

Forward to hearing our singing mass choir
Great write up Thomas. I think Vinagre might not have the muscle against this Watford team, but we have options especially with Jonny. As a sub Traore has the speed and physicality required against Watford, and could thrive on the expansive pitch at Wembley.
It wouldn’t surprise me if we see a red card, probably against Watford. We have to keep our cool though. Jota will be targeted for a mugging as I think he is now generally identified as our main danger man. If only Costa could come out of the doldrums as Jota has done since December. If all goes to plan Watford could be left chasing shadows.
Our poor form against lower teams is always a concern. Relegated Huddersfield only won three matches so far and two were against us, for god’s sake! Watford might be tempted to sit deep as the lower teams have done. That said, we are a big occasion team, as our results against the top six show. I’m torn between 2-0, 2-1 and 3-1. I’ll plump for the latter and back it up with a bet or two,
I too was at that semi at Villa Park against Arsenal with my younger son. The manager at the time was Mark McGee, the only manager in my many years of supporting Wolves that I hated with a passion.
Sir Jack asked him what he needed to get to the final, his answer was to buy an over the hill Steve Claridge, and a donkey called Robert Slater, leaving Bully and Robbie Keane on the bench! The man was a total numpty!
On to Sunday, sure it will be tough, but if we can take Spurs apart at Wembly surely we can do the same to Elton John’s mob?
At the ground today and my wife took this photo of me with the cup, hope it doesn’t jinx us!
To all you “lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky sons of a gun” (British tv advert) able to get tickets, Wembley have put plastic bags on each seat for us to hold up as the team walks out showing a Wolves Mosaic covering our whole end.
Click on the link.
https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2019/04/05/massive-mosaic-for-wolves-wembley-semi-final/
To all you overseas bloggers, I hope it looks as spectacular as it does on the link.
Prediction time…
Wolves well and truly fired up for this game, I’m going for a win on the big wide pitch that Wolves players love and Watford are not used to.
Wolves (home team) 2
Watford 0
Only Dendonker to sign in the Summer now and we own the lot. I love Fosun.
my Wife did a mosaic once
I don’t think they are all there cracked up to be!!
But this one will be

Thanks Marney, nice early morning chuckle.
Just not prepared to predict on this one, but hoping desperately for the right result and channelling positive thoughts!
A fly on my wall would have witnessed me acting strangely this week. Randomly punching the air, or rubbing my hands over my face, or having to take a deep breath and calm down. Excited doesn’t come close.
I was at Villa Park to watch Bully and Keane keep the bench warm while Claridge did precisely sweet FA (cup) up top, and was it Sedgely who decided defending was a mug’s game and he’d rather be a spectator? Whoever it was, Thomas is right to point out that we never really had a hope in that game, no matter how optimistic I was as a 16 year old in the stands.
I was at the Millenium Stadium too, and I’m struggling with the question of which out of that and this match are the most significant. The primal joy I felt after the third goal went in is indescribable, and although I hope a win on Sunday might transport me back to that same transcendent plane, I can’t imagine it will be the same. We’d have to beat City in the final to top that moment, I reckon.
However, back to the question of significance: that day in Cardiff felt like the end of something. The end of the wait I’d endured my whole life to see Wolves in the top-flight. It proved to be a false dawn though, and as you all know, it was another 15 years before the shackles of underachievement were finally cast off.
In contrast, this Wembley appearance feels like the start of something. The first of many. City haven’t sold their tickets, but apparently they’ve played at Wembley 13 times in 8 years. Imagine suffering Wembley fatigue! That could be us in a few years time!
I’ve managed to get a seat 3 rows and 20 seats away from my step-dad, with any luck we’ll find someone to swap with and I’ll get to celebrate with him in the moment rather than after it.
As for the game? I fancy us to win it by a penalty shoot-out.
These are the days my friend, let’s hope they never end.
UTW
Watford fans really fancy this don’t they?
Fair play to them though, they did a number on us earlier in the season but we have evolved since then.
I can only see a wolves win here and possibly aided by a red card for a bit of rough stuff from one of the hornets
The winner of this game lifts the cup
Wolves 2
Watford 0
Hope All the lucky buggers who have tickets have a great day whatever the result
Utw
I absolutely, categorically, definitely, without doubt, and brooking no argument,
R E F U S E to accept that we will do anything but W I N on Sunday.
Wolves and I have been through so much to get to Wembley.
Wolves have gone through the trauma of nearly getting knocked out by Shrewsbury, followed by a close call at City and then a couple of stonking results against two of the best teams in the land.
And I… have been through about 20 rolls of industrial grade, triple ply toilet paper.
But against all odds we have both made it through and I just KNOW that we are going to beat Watford.
Our name is written on the Cup. (I won’t tell you what mine’s written in).
So here’s to a win Sunday – I don’t care by what score.
…and hopefully no squeaky bum time.
Glad to hear you are on the mend Doog!
🙂
I’m sticking with my “big pitches suit us” theory so I think this is ours to lose. But it may well take extra time.
3-2 to the mighty Wolves.
Javi Gracia showed that he is no mug when they visited us earlier in the season and I’m sure he will have plans to counteract our new 3-5-2 system. The question is, will Nuno and his team be able to find quick solutions to Watford’s set-up, much as they did on Tuesday night ? I’m guessing they will, but it ain’t going to be easy. From what I recall we have a reasonably good record against the Hornets in the cup – I’ve seen us win a couple of times at Vicarage Road – so I’m hoping the trend continues.
There are No sky changes in May for Wolves, so our planned ball bash will not be messed with.
I’m positive Dougie will post something when the FA Cup Semi final is out the way.
Yes, keeping the 3pm kickoff is the best possible outcome. I’ve contacted the Novotel to confirm that the Bloggers’ Ball will be on the evening of 4 May.
Watch this space.
Spending Sat night in Streatham at my lads` Chris house before an early start to find the stadium. I agree with DOOGooder, our name is on the cup. Would not care if we had Man City in the final, we beat a very talented Man City side as I recall the last time we played them there, was it 1974 or something like that?. Different world now of course and tomorrows game first, but I`m not in slightest bit nervous mmmmm…….
Two very evenly matched teams, will be won by the team that wants it more. Let’s hope it’s us. C.O.Y.W. 3-2 TO WOLVES.
I’m 54 now & worry that my memory is not what it should be. Some of the “ode timers” on here (yes you know who you are) talk about us playing a game in 1960 (when I was minus 5) and regailing the game, stadium, stand, team, score, scorers & being very accurate in their notation.
I very often struggle to remember a result from last season or a player that played in 1995, so whilst I’m like this now, I’m sure it’ll only get worse the older I get.
But my overriding memory from my youth was going in the “cow shed” & watching us score and seriously getting a rush of blood to the head, that I can only express as “complete euphoria” & was worried at the time what was happening.
That intensity isn’t there as much now but I’m sure it’s because I’ve come accustomed to us scoring goals or winning games, But to see what’s happening to my team now, the feeling I had when the first three goals went in at Millenium 2003, the two goals at Ainfield Feb 2017 then the extascy at Carduff last April (anniversary tomorrow) & after those 2 fekin peno’s after 93 minutes, brings all theses memories flooding back.
Whatever the score on Sunday will be and wherever we finish on 12th May, I have to thank WWFC for giving me back a bit of my youth & I solemnly promise to support & try my hardest to remember these memories for the remainder of my years.
As for the game on Sunday I’ve backed us to win all season & can’t change that now. So:
Elton Mess 1 : 3 Wolves
Proper, proper FWAW
Jota is up for Goal of the month for March 2019 with his strike against Colin’s cloggers when we had 17 passes from 9 outfield players and then into the net….
If you want to vote, use the like below.
https://carlingtap.carling.com/goal-of-the-month/2019-3
Just disappointing it only shows the last 3 passes, but we all know what happended… 🙂
Ah man that sucks, he’s not gonna win it if they don’t show the whole clip!
My apologies to those who were hoping I would be at the game and we could finally meet.
Unfortunately, I’m boycotting the team until they change their points system which discriminates against occasional ticket buyers.
I’m probably on the no-fly list anyway so even having a ticket wouldn’t guarantee me getting there.
WTF “you’re boycotting the team” ?????????
Do you have an alternate ticket priority arrangement that doesn’t discriminate against fans with points then ????????
Yeah, it’s called getting on with the redevelopment of Molineux.
Well that would certainly help over the remainder of this & next couple of seasons.
Whilst I understand not everyone can get to or can afford to go to every match, I reckon my club have reviewed the situation & genuinely tried to find the “best & fairest way forward”
At all times it is impossible to keep everyone happy so go for the majority.
As for development/re-development I’m 100% behind the project of WWFC for Fosun. Why would you build a 50,000 seat stadium and not previously invest in the playing staff so you only take 25,000 gates.
And then loose £39m and get points deduction and/or fines for failing to achieve sustainability under FFP rules.
In my humble opinion Tim, let the best people steer this club & via the likes of the Fans Parliament ensure the “remainder of the pack” are still heard.
Don’t waste your breath mate, the man’s just a knob.
I’m glad he is not coming, he would just bore us to death talking about 2 footed players etc.
And goal tenders
4 of us in club wembley staying in uxbridge sat and sun night is everyone going to wetherspoons after we win on sunday ?.
if so see you there i will be the one totally pissed .
Will the real Spikey please stand up.
Reckon there’ll be many Spikeys in there then.
We’ll be in Wetherspoons Sunday morning for breakfast then a meal in the Premier Inn Uxbridge after the game. We will be the ones with a shit kicking grin from ear to ear.
Lowves and StuWolf
I am travelling from the other side of the world, the Caribbean, and arrive in England Sunday morning—- plenty of time to see the game in a pub in the afternoon. I told my wife not to make any plans for Monday morning as I plan to celebrate well into the night!! —- once we win, —which we will 2– 0. Cautiously optimistic!!
First 15 minutes could be interesting- I think Deeney will look to bully and unsettle our defence into conceding an early goal as did Burnley and he will kick lumps out of Connor. Desperately tight but we will run out 2 nil winners with Moutinho MOTM.
Enjoy the match everyone. So proud to watch this team we should appreciate every second. Watching them working as a team, working out the tactics whilst celebrating the goal against Man U showed how well they work together and how much they want to achieve together. Wolves for the cup
Well feck me ! Our Ryan (Bennett) is on Radio 5 live with Jermain what’s his face. Don’t you get given our tatics away ffs
Like everyone else ,I think it’s gonna be a tough game .but I think we’ll come out on top by the odd goal ,so us taking the spoils to reach the final.
I think it’s gonna be 2-1 to me babbies.

It’s cold here in Scotland. Cant’t wait until tomorrow when I travel down to Wolverhampton, followed by a few hours kip and up and ready for the coach trip to Wembley.
Close, but a Wolves win for me.
I agree with those who reckon the Wembley pitch will suit our game. Watford certainly are a good side, but I believe our lads have a touch of class – more than a touch actually – and confidence and pride which will bring out their best on Sunday.
There will be goals, but not I beg extra time, and I’m expecting us to win, could be something like 4-3 – to us of course – but I’ll be betting on 2 -0
It’s all my own fault. No one to blame but myself.
Back in 1978 I was a sucker for a pretty face, a great figure and a winning personality. A tight pencil skirt and black seamed stockings may have played a part too I seem to recall. So I fell in love and 9 months later we got married. We still are.
Little did I know back then that when we sat down a year ago to plan my beloved’s 60th birthday celebrations she would pick a weekend break with all four of our children and their partners and our four grandchildren. This weekend.
That is why instead of being at Wembley with the 17 other Bedford Wolves I will be watching the game on the big screen at Center Parcs in Woburn.
Like I said – it’s all my fault!
Wolves to win 3-1. Please!
OODCL
And a very happy birthday weekend to a lovely lady from Ian & Sue. We will all just have to get together for the final Dave.
If ever a woman deserved a special Birthday treat it’s your lovely wife. More power to your elbow good sir.
Family first every time.
Now Wolves should play their part and reward your selflessness with a resounding win.
Like Newark, please pass on our best wishes and a very Happy Birthday to your good lady, from Jenny & I.
Cheers Stu and Jenny – see you real soon. OODCL
Cheers Ian and Sue – maybe see you at Southampton. OODCL
Woburn Center Parcs sounds a great place to celebrate, Dave. Happy birthday weekend to Julie. Hopefully Wolves will also oblige. Love, Dougie and Barbara.
Cheers Dougie – see you and Barbara at The Novotel on 4th May and hopefully at Wembley on 18th May!
OODCL
Bedder’s your a top man, you will be with us on Sunday in spirit. I hope you and yours have a fantastic day and with God willing we will see you for the final. Bring it on.
Read God, as Nuno.
Cheers Wittles – look forward to sharing a pint or two with you and Shaun at Wembley on 18th May. Dreams DO come true!
OODCL
Give Julie a birthday hug from me and Sue mate.
She deserves every good thing coming her way.
We’ll give the boys an extra shout on your behalf.
Cheers Doogie & Sue – give the lads a cheer for me and look out for the Bedford Wolves flag accompanied by at least 17 nutters!
Have a fantastic weekend Dave and best wishes to your good lady. I’m sure a handsome Wolves victory will be like the icing on her birthday cake.
Cheers Steve – enjoy the day out. Give the boys a right good Devonshire cheer on my behalf. See you soon.
Shit, I feel guilty now….. wifes birthday missed, sons birthday missed, grandaughters birthday missed. Guess I need to take note from you.
I think it’ll be a tense one with only the single goal to win it. It’ll be bloody tense on my sofa until we score that single goal. Watford schooled us earlier in the season but hopefully we can nick this one.
FA Cup Final? It’s what dreams are made of.
I remember going to a wolves game and there were no programs cos there was no money to print them
I was only about 17 and had been going to wolves for years . I was heartbroken at the decline as I was at games when Richards put a couple past United , I remember putting 4 past arsenal
Beating stoke away in the fa cup ( hibbett ) when they had the Greenhoffs
Etc
So I thought.. I love the wolves , I worked in and around factories in the midlands so I thought, I’ll do what I can to help save this I club that I love
Apart from attending every game home and away with Stafford wolves and Cannock wolves ( hello Bish )
I embarked on selling the wolves scratch cards to my gambling friends ( and there were lots of them) and then trapesing back to the mol with a bag of money and to collect my next sackful
I wasn’t the only one
I haven’t missed many games since then and for the 30 odd years since then ( season ticket holder ) and member of London wolves
I haven’t missed many games
Well today I was treated like a complete c##t by wolves
My 4 tickets – for which I paid wolves 321 .00 £ for have not turned up
I rang last Monday and after -another 45 mins queuing I was told that they should be with me by Thursday
In between then I’ve lost track of the amount or text and e mail from the commercial selling this and that but nothing to say that a large batch of tickets have just disappeared
The club asked me what I would like to do about it ?
I said what ?
If you could have let me know then I could have gone to Wembley ( 15 miles from my house ) and picked up some re prints
I said – what happened to the 321 pounds worth of tickets that I purchased off you
They said – you tell me ?
W t f
I said you have an account with my history my linked friend s
My bank account
The dates that o purchased the tickets
Ever game I’ve ever attended
Even though they have let me queue for hours on various occasions and assured me that the tickets are on their way and managed to send me a million texts to sell me shit
They couldn’t be bothered to let me know that a huge batch of tickets has gone missing
If they could have let me know on Friday then I could have gone to Wembley and picked up sone more
Instead they madden me feel like I was the inconvenience
Fuck you lot that have fucked this up
Admit your mistakes and make it right
You have not heard the last of this
Sorry to hear that mate, hope you manage to get it sorted
Don’t panic Mister Manering!! See you Sunday Matt, bring it on.
The Witley Wanderer. T…. what the …..
Whitley …. I’ve read your quarter of a post mate … have you been on the sherberts already prior to heading off to Wemberrrrleeee…
Just off out for a possum roast … hog roast equivalent in the UK…. lol….x
You can’t beat a bit of bully…
Matt,
Anything I can do let me know, I only live spitting distance away, I will gladly go down if you get any joy and want the tickets bringing to Wembley.
I lost two tickets myself and have already had reprints from Wembley which I did at home. So anything I can do please give me a call or text or send me to the ticket office.
I am there at 10 am this morning (Saturday) to collect Watford tickets for the league game, so anything I can do.
Text me your STN’s and I can chase it up for you.
Jeeze London, that’s awful. Brought back happy memories with the mention of Bish! Pipe going full puff. Happy days. Hope you get sorted mate
Bet we know each other mate
Jeez Matt, that’s a sorry tale. I can sense how p!$$*d off you are, and rightly so. It seems so unlike the club nowadays. Their relationship with we fans seems to be a top priority. They need to sort this out. Pronto!!!
So sorry to read this Matt. Any positive news this morning?
He’s sorted, picking them up at Wembley. 🙂 🙂 🙂
A fabulous weekend ahead. Enjoy the match however you choose to watch it.
This should be a close game between two well-matched teams. My money is on a Neves cracker to seal the game. Wolves 2-1.
The Bloggers’ Ball – more of that shortly – on 4th May will be a great night but it will be so much more if there is another date to look forward to.
UTW
What can I say! I’m beside myself with excitement. Of course it’s going to be tough, and of course Watford will be up for it. But I think this is our time. This is our year.
Let’s go Wanderers! You got this!
Go Wolves!
Watford 1-3 Wolves
I was just reading a review of the Liverpool game in the Guardian, and this little gem of a sentence was casually nestled amidst the article:
“They have only Chelsea and Wolves, both at Anfield, of the top seven still to play”
When we got promoted I was wondering how long it would take for the media to start talking about a ‘big 7’ instead of a ‘big 6’. Admittedly there’s a difference between ‘top’ and ‘big’, and we’ve a little way to go yet, but this is the first time I’ve seen us mentioned in the same breath as the others in this fashion.
Which is nice.
Should be a simple (!)prelude to the final.. ..destiny and after just 30 years who would hold it against us…?
(Quite a few lol)
Watford’s jinx is not applicable in this case so I’m trying to collar final tickets…
Neves has had a quiet season for him regards scoring a purler of a goal..I see a distance one off the bar or something..
As much as Triore is goal blind and my wife can distribute better..I reckon he could be a secret weapon to run at them on the big pitch ..imo he should come on..Jota to score. Jiminez to score Doherty to score Neves to score ..4-2 to us…COYW
10:55 into Marylebone for me. Few beers and we’re off.
I’m in club Wembley too whoever it was said they were. It’s none segregated so we better bloody win cause I don’t want to have to politely smile at some bloody eltonite.
So long as we are walking back up Wembley Way 15 minutes behind the fans of the club that can’t sell their tickets that will be ok for me. Don’t fret anybody as this will be won after 70 minutes. Boly , Jota , Moutinhio , Jota with our goals.
4 – 1 to us. Enjoy and make plenty of noise.
Weatherspoons Leicester Square at 10.30
Nearly time…….time to mark another great episode in the club’s history…..time to give 100%…………..time to show the world what the Wolves are about.
We have all been through the bad, the very bad and the very, very, very bad times.
Now it is our time.
🙂
Now, that is dedication !

🙂
Four of us coming up from South Devon for this, the biggest, most important game in many a long year. I’ve never been to Wembley before, for anything, so to break my duck to go watch the best team in the land is indeed doing it in style.
As for the game, this will be a real tight game played, like all the best games, between two teams who both believe they can win. Personally, I believe Wolves will win. We are unbeaten at Wembley since 1949. The big pitch suits our passing style and gives our technical players room to breathe. This will be our day. Watford will huff and puff, but it’s us who’ll be blowing down the houses.
Hope to catch a few of you around the ground pre-match.
WOLVES TO WIN 3-1.
COYW
So friggin’ jealous of all you lot this weekend!
However, I was at Wembley in ‘74 and’ ‘80, and I have now amassed enough brownie points to get time off to come over for the final.
I have no doubts whatsover that we’ll win tomorrow, my only problem is convincing Mrs CFH that the final will be such a special occassion that I must fly first class!
Watford fans are cocky, they think they only have to show up and bully us into submission.
Well, you London wannabees, it aint gonna happen a second time.
As the bloke in Crocodile Dundee said, we’ve got a Donk.
Nuno and the backroom boys know the history of our club, what shit we’ve endured for over 40 years, and will get our lads up for this.
And these occassions are what Fosun bought us for. World wide exposure, wonderful football, and this year we will have the first of many trophys.
Jimmy Nez signing permanently is a fuckin’ huge statement ftom the club, and I just hope the press, the media, other clubs and their fans finally get the message.
Our boys are NOT for sale, at any price, and we will be cherry picking the best of your players very soon!
5-1 to the boys from The Black Country!
Oh, and wba, eat your fuckin’ hearts out!
I think you’ll see one of the best performances yet under nuno and we’ll all be proud as punch come 6 o’clock. 2 nil wolves. Jimenez and neves to score
Iv’e been asked to post this for any bloggers fancying a get together before the game. As you come down Olympic Way (Wembley Way) we turn left to go to our half – 3/4’s of the ground. There is a large tented area with a few cabin style bars by our entrances and Wolves fans gather and drink there.
Since there are 34,500 official Wolves fans and probably 10,000 extras who scooped up pathetic Watfords left overs and Club Wembley tickets, it may be a tad busy, but we will be around that area, making merry.
Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
Weem gooin to Wembley
Que Sera Sera.
Have a great day you Wonderful bunch of bloggers, win or lose we have had an amazing season and we deserve this moment.
I’m assuming we want Man City to win today?
It doesn’t matter Timmo. We’re gonna win the thing either way.
Boycott over, Tim?
Come on me babbies. Make that twat Deaney grovel, grovel, grovel never mind that Elton crybaby wossisname who’ll be shedding bucketloads again.
OUT OF DARKNESS COMETH LIGHT. Let’s do it . We are the pack. We are Wolves.
Cheesey…. this is just for you.
What a place… spoke to the barman and he’s only Colin Larkin’s brother in law.
(He used to play for the Wolves).
Great place buddy … here’s to the Beef and Guiness hotpot….
Hello again…
So this time tomorrow it will all be decided and we will know which of us is going back to Wembley to take on Manchester City in the final. I think tomorrow is a really difficult game to call – two very good, pretty evenly matched teams which are capable of beating each other. I make Wolves slight favourites but have faith that once again Javi will come up with a tactical masterplan that will hopefully win us the game.
Interesting selection headaches for us are Foster or Gomes in goal (personally I would go Foster, as I hate the potential of Gomes making a howler in his last game for us and thereby tainting his time here) and then whether Gray starts up front, which would mean one of Pereyra or Deulofeu missing out. I have a suspicion Javi will stick with recent selections and leave Gray on the bench to come on when the game may be a bit more stretched.
The way City played today should encourage whoever wins that they can be beaten in the final.
I can’t quite bring myself to say ‘let the best team win’….because I will take being outplayed but winning all day long 🙂 …..but let’s hope for a good game that shows the rest of the country that Wolves and Watford genuinely are the ‘best of the rest’.
Cheers mate. Yes, agree that tomorrow’s game is a tough one to call. Like you, I’ll take a win however it comes.
Que sera indeed.
Hi AS
It certainly is a difficult one to call. Our relative League positions show that.
You’ve done us once, but I’m pretty sure that Nuno has done his homework since then.
Whatever happens, it’s surely got to be better than the boring load of rubbish we witnessed yesterday.
And 34,500+ Wolves fans will ensure a cracking atmosphere.
Make sure your lot are in good voice, they’ll need to be.
What this game has, which the first semi lacked, is ‘competition’. Both teams can win and both teams believe they can. That’s what will make it a cracker.
Bloody hell I’m bored, it’s like Christmas eve when I was a kid waiting for all the goodies that tomorrow brings. If we can get past Watford we can certainly do a number on City, they looked quite ordinary this evening against Brighton.
The one thing I am pissed off with over this cup run is that Sir Jack isn’t here to enjoy it , still he will be up there with his two thumbs up and that big grin on his face when Connor lifts the trophy. Roll on WEMBERLY!!
I’m not bored Ken but I can’t wait for the morning. Barbara and I are having a quiet drink in the Beefeater next to the Harrow Premier Inn.
Hopefully catch you tomorrow.
We’ll be round the fan zone left at top of Wembley way look forward to seeing you there Dougie if you can make it, I’m sure quite a few other bloggers will be there!
I find it really hard to predict this one but whatever the outcome Wolves have given us a great ride this season, let’s hope we can put the icing on the cake.
Hope you all have a great day out and a safe journey.
WOLVES Aye We
1-1 penalties win.
I will head out on my own tomorrow in NYC.I will watch and we will win.
I love this team.
Woke up this morning and did my first proper poo in nearly two weeks!
It’s an omen!!!
I was going to put a picture of it up here but the PMDG’er persuaded me not to.
So one of our rather subtly themed bedroom at Best Western Wembley will have to suffice.
Poo r result
Flushed with Disappointment
Shite result
Now bearing down on the league
Toi let on place in the cup
Shit on the Baggies
I smell a shit theme here
Sitting in Oxford, away from the usual Peak, reading all the pre-match stuff. Just want to get to the point of catching the Oxford Tube and then the real tube from Hillingdon. Excitement and apprehension in equal measure!
Disorganised chaos on boarding the coaches as many were parked in the wrong place and they weren’t parked in numerical order either! Should have put the numbers on after the coaches had parked up!!!!! On our way.
Have to love the BBC! Football home page this morning City, City & yet more City. Not one mention or sign of our match being today. Complete lack of respect to both us & Watford!!
Oh well! Best way to show them all is win the damn competition then!!!

My daughter is working today, she is a Wolves fan. We had a conversation the other day which went like this:-
Stacey: “Dad I won’t finish work until 5pm can you record the game and I will come down and we can watch it?”
Me: What???????????????????
Stacey: “I am your only daughter and I do love you xxx”
Me: “No chance, do you think I can sit there and wait for a hour and a half knowing that the game has probably finished, or is in extra time? Not going to happen!”
Stacey: “But, but xxx”
Me: “Tough titties!”
What can you do eh?
🙂
First mistake of the day, trying to get in to Wetherspoons for brekker, only to find that it is a Watford designated pub.
Luckily the nice doormen said we could go in if I made sure that the PMDG’er wouldn’t cause a scene.
I think we just about got away with it.
All their fans seem to be in there.
All six of them!
Avin a few beers round Camden Town. Few wolves knocking about. Good atmosphere. Loads of boozers! FWAW!
Thats unlike you, Stilton, thought you’d be looking for a church being as its Sunday!!!
I am getting the prayer mat out Clive. Divine retribution for all the years of fuckin misery. Out of darkness cometh light.
That’s what is wrong with the sport. So many fouls on Jota were allowed with no real consequences.
Gutted back to being a wolves fan again after so many weeks of feeling like we were on top of the world.
Credit Watford they didn’t give up and there quality players deeney and delafeau stood up. But Oliver where did you get 4mins in a half with no stoppages? And when delafaeu spent most of the second half of extra time on his arse we only get 2 minutes?
An amazing season but it wouldn’t be wolves if it wasn’t tinged regret!
That cheatin’ divin’ fuckin’ donkey deeney.
No way was that a penalty, despite The Donk breathing heavily on him.
Fuckin bastard.
City are gonna cream them, i hope, because they don’t know how to play anythingbut hoofball.
No credit to what ferd, they are a bunch of cheats.
And I agree about the four extra minutes.
Where did they come from?
Fuckin gutted.
You need new glasses Clive! 😉
On the way home now and feeling like a Pirelli with a nail in it – deflating.
At 2:0 I felt we were comfortable and think that’s what makes it feel worse in the now. We had the Diogo & Joao chances but today it didn’t happen.
Although this won’t be popular i’ll give Watford credit as their sub Deulofeu made a difference & ours, today, unfortunately, didn’t and I’m sure this will now ensure personnel changes in the summer.
At the Mol in the league, Watford bossed us & Deulofeu run the show.
Today with 20 minutes left he changed a loosing game around and now they’re in the final.
Good luck to Xavi & Watford and I’ll look forward to seeing us play them at least twice next season with Wolves being an even better team, players & management.
I’m also sure we’ll all learn from today. After all, it’s still been a great season to date.
Lastly, sometimes you have feel this pain to really appreciate the true highs of a cup win or exceptional league position.
Long day still on route to Brighton just gutted that’s all I can say
Gutted, sat in corporate seats today mostly wolves aswell, can’t put into words how I feel.onwards and upwards .
Disbelief. The old wounds re opened but then I sit back and think about the last two years and it ay so bad. Forever Wolves ay we.
History and to be there..fantastic second goal but our inexperience showed in the last 10 mins of the second half…
shock is the best word for what happened nxt…
Unbelievable..
Yes inexperience, naievity call it what you will. But we certainly let them push us back too far & dominate the final 15 minutes.
Like Wolves of old we failed to hold on from what 9 out of 10 is a winning position. Especially in a match of such importance.
I knew when the penalty went in that was it for us, Watford in the ascendancy when they were dead & buried.
We won the fans though, as we were waiting in the train queue some Wolves fans berated the Jubilant Hornets fans for not selling all their tickets.
But we’ve been spoilt this season & there’s still going to be big & massive disappointments for us along the glory trail.
But we’ve done this disappointment before, the highs & the lows were all there in a game the pundits are calling epic & a thriller!
I’m glad & pleased with the season, 47 points is awesome in our first season back & still 6 games to go.
One question about yesterday’s game. Does anyone know what or who the 2 VAR red card decisions were for.? It’s bad form the officials not informing the crowd. A farce if you ask me, then I’d pull the plug on VAR for good. It’s a nonsense.
Red card reviews were totally bizarre. Everyone around me going ‘WTF??’
Only one thing went wrong on an almost perfect day.
Sadly:-
Nuno got his Substitutions horribly wrong.WTF.
But, life goes on, we’re having an amazing year and Trot Deeney you will get your come uppence you arrogant tit you.
Apart from that, bring on Southampton.
You positive wolves fan you lol
I’ve never seen such pain on the faces of who was around me and on the way home..
I’m still shaking my head…
Huge disappointment to be 2-0 and to lose. When our second goal went in I thought it was done and dusted, after all this Wolves don’t let in three goals do they? On the very quiet train home I tried to think it through. Dulefeu came on and we subbed our two mid-fielders which with the benefit of hindsight was a mistake. We should have been able to see the game out but as we had been all game we were not at our best.
Basically Watford on the day were better than us. But we’ve had a great season with more to come and The Bloggers Ball to look forward to.
Disappointed but can only applaud all the players and coaches efforts in getting us this far. Over 750 clubs started out and only 4 get to play at Wembley. Not a time to criticise tactics/ substitutions- 2 years ago we were scrapping to keep in the Championship with Lambert. We will come back stronger. I thought the momentum was with Watford even before kickoff-their fans enthusiastically waving flags, we were holding plastic bags – it felt like a funeral party despite best efforts to get the team over the line. It’s clear we need reinforcements to the squad, forget Europe until we have the bench to make a real impact. It crippled a good Burnley side this season.
Definitely agree on the Europa League point – the last slot is the graveyard slot. Proud Wolves colours still in evidence at Warwick services as I head back to Derbyshire!
Good point above about pre match. I thought how come they are all waving flags about and we have plastic bags. Even though they couldn’t see their tickets it made their end look full. Ours just looked flat. Thought the ref gave them most decisions. I thought it was a penalty at the time but reading social media comments it seems it was contensious and Deeney knew exactly what he was doing. Once they equalised I thought there was only one winner. Oh well. Continuing to nurse my raging hangover. Got today and tomorrow off from work. Think it might be hair of the dog time in a bit.
