I like sitting in the Stan Cullis stand.

The excitement of being stationed behind the goal coupled with the splendid views afforded from the upper tier, make it my ideal vantage point.
And by sitting in the North Bank you don’t have to look at the North Bank, which in itself is a major plus.
Yes, we must endure dogs abuse from our rowdy neighbours to the South and, despite 20 million-odd quid’s worth of investment, the toilets are no better now than they were nearly two decades ago.
But it suits me fine.
The only problem with being behind either goal is that you can’t always see exactly what’s going on at the other end of the pitch.
Case in point: Leigh Griffiths’ opening goal against Sheffield United. I couldn’t work out how he’d managed to squeeze the ball in after the keeper had pounced at his feet.
Fortunately, The Football League Show were kind enough to show me at about 3:42am (estimated time), some twelve hours after the ball had bounced back off the goalkeeper, hit our number 9 and trickled in.
Both my suspended curiosity and sleep deprivation could have been avoided had Molineux been equipped with a working video wall.
Can you help me out please Steve?
I know it wasn’t you who built those two giant granny television’s back in 1993 but only you have the power to end the blackout.
Screens were promised as part of ‘new Molineux’ but as that project has gone into indefinite lockdown, can a temporary solution be offered in the meantime?
I’ve trawled back through the most recent Fans’ Parliament meetings and nothing seems to be on the agenda. I think it should be.
Instant replays, latest scores from other games and a match timer would all enhance the matchday experience.
And in a season where Wolves look like being on the right end of the scoreline, it would be nice to see it.

Thomas, I place the importance of a screen above other projects simply because ,HOW MANY MORE LEGENDS DO WE HAVE TO BURY WHILST LISTENING TO THE PATHETIC DRONE OF OUR STADIUM ANNOUNCER !! THE WHOLE STADIUM SHOULD BE WATCHING A PURPOSE MADE FILM ON A GIANT SCREEN !! A PROPER SEND OFF !!! TYPICAL WOLVES ALWAYS REACTIVE RARELY PROACTIVE !! rant over !fwaw !
A video tribute is nice but it’s the fans – especially the older ones – that give the proper trade-off! It’s how it’s always been – I don’t think there was a video tribute for Gary Speed for example but the sentiment was there in all places he was applauded!
I couldn’t agree more, Thomas. Even that garden shed, the Greenhous Meadow, has a decent score card and clock!
The management did state that they weren’t going to spend any further money on the current screens so unless they are there to keep the draft out they may as well remove them. The scrap value alone would pay for a video wall for a season! Knowing my luck though, they’d put the wall on the roof of the new North Bank!
Mind you, if it came to the crunch, I would settle for a dry seat in the lower Stan Cullis. I’m twenty-four rows from the front and after the £16m investment I still get wet when it rains! I guess that’s the price you pay for having an upstairs in the same stand! Either that or the architects don’t know much about stadium design!
You spent £16m on your season ticket? You should’ve asked me mate. I could’ve got you one for £5m no worries.
What we need is a stadium that holds over 75,000, has a retractable roof, is fully air conditioned, has removable turf, a video screen going the full width of one end, ( biggest in the U.S.) and is home to a team who play primarily in blue and white, and have now lost 4 on the bounce !!!
Nah, I’ll stick to the useless screens at the Mol, and as the old saying goes, would stand in six feet of shit to watch us win titles.
Spend money on players who will win shiny things, not on shiny things to try and win us over!!
FOwb
Well said Thomas.
The present Mrs DG’er raises exactly the same points every time we visit the Mol, so you must be on to something.
She’s also tried to explain the offside law to me several times but I still can’t get the hang of it.
Check out the 50 pence piece coin … simples ..ha !!
A great Idea and yes it should be done.
However are we in danger of spending some of Morgans money…
Then NO CHANCE…
When I started going we were a division lower than we are now, and we used to have those letters on the big board on the old Waterloo Road stand. Being about 6 or 7 I had absolutely no idea what they meant, but they were a handy reinforcement of the ABCs I was learning at the time and so therefore infinitely better than what we have now. That being said, they are quite handy for hanging advertising off, so not entirely dead space.
The glory days of our present screen were back when they used to play the Liquidator, and no visiting keeper was safe from being called a slightly overweight person of dubious parentage. The bouncing ‘magic sponge’ when a player was being treated is for some reason the graphic I remember most from those days.
I used to scoff at the Anfield LED scoreboard, the Casio watch to our Sony Discman. How I envy it now. Goo on Morgan, blow theirs out the water with some 3D Holographic contraption. Give you something to be smug about next time you’re there discussing managers with Molby.
I actually put it in my fans’ survey as my one thing I’d like to see change or whatever the question was.
The best place I have seen them do it is Arsenal. They play pre-match interviews and half time highlights (of both teams) along with other bits and pieces.
It won’t happen, though. They’ll still say the long term goal is to redevelop the ground.
Yes totally in accord with the points made here, its poor of the Club to not have video playback like other clubs. I mentioned it on the famed fan survey, & on other occasions.
Can’t see it happening any time soon though as we’re still in limbo land in terms of where the club are going in terms of ground development, & until we’re certain to get out of this league, this season it must be, I don’t think we’re out of the mire football wise either.
Not many teams have had two seasons as bad as our last two to suffer, while Kenny Jackett is mvoing us on there is still a nagging doubt about where the current ownership and Management are taking us.
I just hope its out of League 1 at the first attempt & then consolidation in the Championship. But the Prem seems like the distant reaches of the Andes at the moment. There have been too many wrong choices made in the recent past to fully embrace an optimism that we will ever have a smooth ride any time soon.
Just hope the marvellous progress thus far continues, and that the team gel & start playing decent football consistently, and move us into an unassailable position atop this competitive league.
A money making idea for morgan and moxey! If the club played videos of previous successful games, cup finals etc, before the match, people would turn up earlier and spend money on drinks and food. A cinema type experience. It would also put the fans in a good mood before the proper match started.
Brilliant stuff Thomas. On face value,a couple of non-functioning screens shouldn’t be important, but they are when we are laying legends to rest and paying homage one final time.
We have some wonderful footage of our Hall of Fame heroes and to be able to screen it to fans who will never get the chance to see it would be wonderfully poignant. The away fans could receive a dewy eyed, classy insight into our history too.
To listen to the shouty man in sombre mode just doesn’t do Waggy, Broadbent and co justice. I felt the same when Deano passed away. There was a short tribute video on Sky Sports featuring James Beattie and others. The goosebumps would still be with me. Felt like a missed opportunity to make the farewell even more fitting.
It’s a shame as the club really does commemorate our former stars in style.
The ability to switch on a screen when circumstances dictate would make such a difference and reinforce why we’re so special. So in a nutshell, I agree with Haarlem Wolf!
Well said Clive . I used to swim in 6 foot of piss in the south bank . No video screens but we won stuff . Players please !
While I understand the logic here, how much is a screen likely to cost? I’m guessing at £50-100k. What quality of player could we buy for that? In the grand scheme of things, a nice screen isn’t going to break the bank and to put this into context, how much has having O’Hara on the books for months (not playing) cost us?
Weren’t there a pair of birds of prey nesting in one of the video walls, and wasn’t that the reason they can’t get rid of them?
Not any reason to stop them putting up a couple of new screens though…
The only birds of prey I remember were the nuns at Brewood convent in the sixties………….but that’s another story.
Oi ! My mum was at brewood convent !
To get vids working, Moxey has to move his stash of PIES!
Son of Ledbury Lupus has been appointed to new Young Fans Parliament, only one meeting so far but I understand that many of the members of this group asked about the video screens and were advised that the technology utilised is now outdated and thus too costly to make repairs financially viable. There are no plans to replace at present which is disappointing. Every young fan should have been given the opportunity to see video archive material of some of Waggy’s goals on the day of the tribute.
Surely advertising on the video screens would help pay for their installation, perhaps the WW marketing department could approach technology suppliers to assist with sponsorship.
It’s a bit of a worry about Danny Batth still not having signed a new contract.
I don’t know who to be angry at:-
Batth for being a typical greedy footballer who is after a lot more than he is worth.
Or JM for not opening his wallet and securing the services of a valuable defender who could make the difference between promotion and being also-rans.
Shall we take a vote on it?
Two other points of news here.
Liam McAlinden scoring on his debut on loan at Shrewsbury.
He seems like a good lad with the right attitude. He’s at the right place, working under exactly the right manager to bring him on and can only come back to us a better player.
Jamie O’Hara has changed his agent because there has been absolutely no interest in him from any club.
Well, it must have been his agent’s fault, it couldn’t be down to himself could it?
