With the Europa League qualifiers a little over three weeks away, there’s been talk from Jeff Shi concerning the importance of the U23s.
With that mind, here I assess both the state of the current squad and what positions the U23s might be called upon to fill.

Goalkeepers
Nothing doing here. Rui Patricio is our undoubted no.1, while John Ruddy and Will Norris are more than capable back-ups.
But a mention for highly-rated Andreas Søndergaard, who was handed a new deal in January until 2021. Head of Academy Scott Sellars rates the Dane’s distribution skills highly, so he could become our no.3 if Ruddy or Norris depart.
Defence
Willy Boly, Conor Coady and Ryan Bennett all had a full summer off, and a further centre back is being targeted for Bennett’s position, so this is another area that could be tough for the U23s to crack.
However, the versatility of Romain Saiss is currently being used at the African Cup of Nations, so Max Kilman could feature on the bench at least, especially if another centre half hasn’t joined by the end of July (let’s hope this isn’t the case).

Regarding Kilman, Nuno sees the former England futsal international as a full member of the first-team squad, so the 22-year-old should have no problem dealing with Crusaders or B36 Tórshavn.
P.S. almost forgot that Rodders Miranda is still at the club after an unsuccessful loan spell with Olympiacos last season. Could he have a role to play in the qualifiers? Can we even get rid of him? I, for one, still appreciate his quality on the ball, after enduring Danny Batth hoofs for years. Anyhow, I digress.
In the wing back positions, Jonny and Ruben Vinagre on the left mean Ryan Giles will more than likely seal a mooted loan move to Shrewsbury Town, but things are a little unclear as for back-up to Doc.
I think we all agree that we’d like cover brought in for Doc, but I struggle to see it happening. Adama Traore could certainly cause havoc from deep in the second qualifying round, but if Nuno wanted to call upon an U23, what about Oskar Buur Rasmussen? Unfortunately, I doubt it, especially as he’s not been seen since stepping up as the unlikely hero in that crucial 2-2 draw at home to Hull City in April 2018.
Midfield
I wonder if one of Elliot Watt or Pedro Goncalves will have a chance of featuring in the qualifiers, especially in the second and (hopefully) third rounds, when we play weaker opposition?
Both sound on the ball, could one of them step in for Joao Moutinho in the second leg v Crusaders or B36 Tórshavn when we hopefully have a healthy lead from the first tie? Despite being in fantastic condition last season, Joao, nearly 33, may still find the Thursday-Sunday schedule tough going.

You’d imagine Morgan Gibbs-White would be the one to step in for the Portuguese maestro, but I could see Watt or Goncalves on the bench, especially with Saiss possibly still to return after his international exertions.
Forwards
He doesn’t count as an U23 in the strictest sense of the word (despite the face he’s still only 21), but Bright Enobakhare has been thrown a lifeline.
Mexico are likely to reach the Gold Cup final on Monday (8 July), so that’s Raúl definitely out of the first leg. Diogo should be fit and firing but a back-up to the Portuguese doesn’t appear a priority, which quite frankly should be, as the 22-year-old is just as crucial as Raul to our unique style of play.

Noises from the club suggest Bright will get his chance in the qualifiers. Whilst it’s hard to see him cut out for where we’re heading as a club, he discovered a clinical edge in his stint at Coventry. Hopefully, he can take his chance against limited opposition.
In an ideal world, we’ll have signed a Raúl type to partner Diogo come 25 July, with Bright coming off the bench in the first leg, and possibly starting the second if we have a sizeable advantage. It shouldn’t matter too much against inferior opposition, but I don’t believe we’ll see the best of Bright alongside Diogo, as the front two struggle to function when we’re lacking that focal point in Raúl.
Niall Ennis may make the bench for the second leg if Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa have departed by that time, and Raúl isn’t risked.
Final thoughts
Jeff’s recent remarks sound positive for the U23s and our initial foray into Europe, but it’s hard to say how much of a chance they’ll be given.
Nuno is a fan of involving the youth in training and in cup competitions such as the Carabao, but the squad might have been greatly strengthened by 25 July, and we know Nuno is using the qualifiers as pre-season friendlies, so will the U23s even feature if we’re 6-0 up after the first leg?
I feel they won’t get extensive minutes, apart from Bright, but the odd substitute appearance and being around the squad in China and the qualifiers will be a great learning experience.

Great article Paddy, thanks mate.
I suspect if Ruddy gets the opportunity to be first choice somewhere else, he’ll be off. That said, with the domestic cup competitions and the chance to play in Europe there’s the potential for more minutes than last season.
I’ve seen nothing of Kilman but would like to see what he’s about. Must have a lot of skill based on his background so could be an exciting addition. If Miranda is happy to hang around on the periphery of the action I could see him being retained for the season and getting some minutes in the cups. We’ll bring in another centre half though, I’m confident of that.
I think Goncalves and Watt will definitely get minutes in pre-season. You didn’t mention Ronan either who may also be included. Big season for Gibbs-White. He should get even more minutes and hopefully, with improved physical stature and experience we’ll see development.
As frustrating as he can be, I’d like to see Bright retained. He’s got the talent and confidence to play in the Premier League. The only thing lacking is decision making, which hopefully has improved with that stint at the Ricoh. When I think back to games last season when we had no viable plan B on the bench, I would happily have introduced him as a curveball option. Obviously, we want to see big money spent on attacking reinforcements too but I still think there’s something there with this lad.
Cheers Thomas, always a pleasure mate.
If a top Championship team comes in for Ruddy, he faces a tough decision. You sense he loves being part of what’s happening at Wolves, but there will come a time when he wants to be first choice again. He would leave a big hole in terms of leadership in the dressing room.
Re Kilman, Nuno clearly likes his technical ability. He’s done brilliantly well to force his way into the first-team squad, just a year after playing in the Conference. But is he really going to be of PL quality? Yes, a few minutes here and there is the best Rodders can hope for, especially if we bring in another centre half. At least in the second leg of the early qualifiers and the Carabao Cup, we could potentially rest the whole of the first choice back 3.
I really like Ronan and believe him to be a better prospect than Watt or Goncalves (I know he’s a couple of years older), but Olofinjana tweeted that he’s staying on loan in Slovakia. I hope Ronan gets a chance at some stage, as he’d thrive in our midfield. MGW can offer so much in his favoured 10 role, if he can improve his decision making and sharpen his technical ability, he could be key to breaking the lesser sides down.
Agreed on Bright. He seems to have gone through that stage of improving his decision making and remaining calmer on the ball, but the PL is a huge step up from L1. Hopefully the qualifiers can give him a confidence boost. Bright is kind of a 9 and a 10 in the sense that he’s a creator and likes to roam, but can also get in behind with his pace.
We do seem to have been blessed with some very talented youngsters coming through the ranks but, as ever with top flight clubs, it’s difficult to know when and how to blood them into first team football. Every game is important, and to throw them in too soon could put them back a long way, confidence wise.
However, with Nuno’s preference for a minimalist first team squad, our youngsters probably have a better chance than most of breaking through.
In Nuno we trust.
I think we have to remember there is a big difference between being Premier League quality and being top quarter of the Premier League quality.
We can’t forget that Wolves want to be a top team and are these youngsters good enough now for that?
I read somewhere the other day an old article about Traore when he was signed by Wolves and the writer said he was coming in as a wingback. May be a lucky guess or an assumption, since we were short of right wingbacks.
I agree that we need backup for Jota as well as Raul, unless they are planning to keep Ivan. he scored 3 goals in less than 8 games so that projects to somewhere near 15 goals over a complete season as a starter. I would have no problem keeping him as backup.
Here is another article that states Traore could be a wingback.
https://metro.co.uk/2017/01/17/chelsea-make-shock-move-for-middlesbrough-winger-adama-traore-6387124/
Thank you Paddy for your insights into the U23s. I’m afraid I lack your depth of knowledge but am impressed with the investment made in the young players: we can expect this to feed into the 1st team squad going forward.
In particular the lad from PSG feels like a really good purchase. As to those already on the books I still believe Bright can come good: if his decision making can,or has been improved, then we may have a real asset able to prove himself in the Europa.
In general the decision makers seem to be getting it right most of the time. I’m hopeful that Helder can get back his mojo at Leeds or wherever. He gave us all so much before, it seems, a loss of confidence.
The future looks gold.
I don’t believe Bright is good enough for the PL and fear he will take a place on the bench which could be used by a better sub .
I fear we will again fail to buy a back up for Raul and will pay the price .
Naturally I hope I am wrong on both counts .
I am greatly reassured by a line in another article by Jeff Shi which stated “Nuno has the final say on all transfers” which suggests that the squad isn’t going to get bigger and he will continue to use training sessions as developmental time for the under 23s rather than Premier League games. If Costa and Cavaleiro leave, then quality replacements need to come in, I think everyone feels the same about that. None of us want to see players burning out by Christmas which might apply to all those who have been playing for their country over the summer. The Europa League qualifying rounds should be a real carrot for the younger players to show they can handle first team football, it sounds like Nuno has decided that already with no apparent signings imminent.
I agree use our young players.
I’m not sure if I like the idea of signing 19 year olds with one great year under their belts for 35 or 40 million pounds.
I hope these are just rumours.
This Joao Felix effect is getting ridiculous.
Goncalves won’t be getting any minutes as he’s just been sold.
Also, regarding a back up for Doc, it needs to be borne in mind that Jonny, being right footed, is equally adept at playing right side. So, assuming Traore is counted we have four competing players for the two wing back positions.
Acquisitions will be left field. Just wait and see.
Video ofWolves training at St Georges Park.
Team spirit looks solid.

Someone posted this on facebook, well that’s me in the bottom left hand corner about 18-20 years old, with hair. Amazing.(Waggy not me)
That cannot be you.
Waggy played for Wolves in the sixties and seventies.
You were a teenager in the forties and fifties!
Bloody hell!
What a coincidence.
See that copper?
That’s me.
It was a holiday job I had when I was at the art school.
Bloody hell, that’s me in my suit and tie. I also had hair in those days too. Did not realise that I was sat so close to you .
Just bought my ticket for the 25th. Hope to catch up with some of you before the game.
Great article Paddy. One point, Pedro Goncalves has been released by Wolves.
To digress. Combing through emails coming my way from local club Chelsea’s hospitality team, I see Wolves are highly rated from the point of view of hospitality admission charges. Only Man C, Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs games are more expensive in hospitality. Every other game, be it pretenders like Everton, Watford, Leicester etc., or rabble such as Villa, costs less to see in hospitality than Wolves. Market forces! You get what you pay for.
All the best helda
For a while, you were the light that comes from the darkness
Utw
Well said Marney.
He gave us some fantastic moments in the Championship, was unable to step it up to the next level after his knee injury.
Ithank you andI wish you all the best Helda, you deserve your place at Leeds.
The last part your final sentence, Stu, is almost akin to saying that you deserve your place at Sandwell Town. He deserves better, I think. Leeds are falling apart again.
Sorry to see Costa go he was the first big signing by Fosun rember he nearl scored amazing goal against Liverpool at Anfield .
I personally would have just loaned him out till christmas because if we get injuries well he knows how Nuno plays. It’s a shame because the talent is there but not always the application but he has skill his goal against Spurs at Wembly showed that .
He should walk the Championship Leeds have agot themselves a decent player.
Yes best of luck Helder. If all goes well we may be seeing you back at The Molineux 20-21 season. You’ll be given a good welcome.
The colour of the new home jersey is not Old Gold.
Last season didn’t you say that gold of any hue is just a version of yellow?
It met with such a reaction last time I decided not to.
Sky TV already pissing me off. Man Utd home now 8pm Monday nite 19 aug. Everton away 2pm Sunday 1 September.
Pissing us off too mate, this is why we don’t have season tickets and this is why we get called “plastic” fans. We can’t do night matches because of my job. Last season we went to 15 games and stayed in hotels at 12 of them and spent a fortune. We love to make a weekend of supporting Wolves and there is nothing better than leaving the stadium, having a nice walk back to your hotel, a few drinks, a nice meal, a good nights sleep and then a leisurely drive back to wherever you live in the UK. Because of Sky you can’t book hotels or train tickets in advance because a 3:00pm kick off on a Saturday is a rarity. I actually emailed Clive today because it affects the social part of supporting Wolves as well. I for one was looking forward to seeing him again at this game but it is not meant to be now. Sky Sports – it’s all about the MONEY, MONEY, MONEY !!!!!!!!!!
Exactly right chap. Look at the cricket world cup. Only half a million watch it on sky. The women’s world cup England v USA had 11 million viewers on free TV. People wonder why kids aren’t playing cricket no more. Well unless you are well off your kid ay gonna see no world cup action. It really really pisses me off. Football came from the working class and has been hijacked by money. Sickens me chap. Sickens me.
Hi lan great post mate you sum it up perfectly all about money, Sky do not careless about the pressure it puts us the fans under. Still l guess that is the price of success.
All the best mate.
I agree wholeheartedly with you Ian. Fortunately for me it does not have an effect. I am chuffed I made the decision to retire early lol.
Rumour Neves going to AC Milan in swap deal for Silva hope its bull…!
Total bull indeed.
please stop being bored neves is not going anywhere you know it and so does the rest of the sensible world
who the hell starts this bullshit !!!!!!!!
IT SEEMS SILVA MAY BE COMING OUR WAY AND THEY JUST THOUGHT THEY WOULD TRY THEIR LUCK TO GET NEVES
PISS OFF MILAN YOUR DREAMING
WOLVES ARE NOW A BIGGER CLUB GET USED TO IT
what do you mean, now?
Always have been bigger!!!
Ruben ay gooin nowhere. He is Wolves ay he. Already said that couple days ago. He loves wolves. Why go to some fascist dictatorship ?. Ruben is a sensible lad. He knows how much he is loved in Wolvo. Not going anywhere.
Looking forward to the England Womens Footie his afternoon. Except I’ll be watching it in Sweden with, I’m sure, plenty of home support in attendance. Best keep my head down and my mouth shut, methinks.
You must be bored if you have to watch girlie football, and the two losers at that!!!
Ooohhh, I’m going to hell for that one!!
To be honest Clive, it can make a refreshing change from all the playacting and histrionics which blight the male version of the game we all love. Although, I must admit, if it weren’t peeing down today, I would probably have something better to do.
Anyway, we lost, so now my mood matches the weather.
Half the players like chicks so there are a lot of similarities to the men players.
Bring on the fucking Aussies Edgbaston Thursday. Warner is a prick. England gonna do the mongrel twats this time…
The Media have described this as “pure filth”.
Our very own Raul Jimenez, player of the tournament and Gold cup winner, having scored 5 with two assists in 6 matches, only goes and does this to help Mexico win it.
https://mobile.twitter.com/tim_spiers_star/status/1148153628378783746
That back-heel was so filthy it was disgusting. When he’s not pulling stunts like that, he’s scoring! It’s hard to believe he’s a Wolves player. Who does he think he is? Denis Law? George Best? He he.
Have a bit of a rest Raul and come back ready for our best season ever since Stan Cullis’s day.
diego costa to wolves ???????
odds slashed to 4-1
our man is his agent
interesting ?
I would love him at the Mol.
he is such a wind up merchant, he can put an entire opposition team in dissarray.
Sign him up, Dr. Nuno, even if its just as a full time sub!!
i would keep your eye on this one clive it just may have some legs
costa in our front line
its what dreams are made of
didnt see that one coming did we
a fosun special maybe
Yeah
Him and Jonny
Two tough Spaniards.
It’ll be like having two Russell Crowes ( from Gladiator) in the team!
No one will mess with them !!
Except that Costa’s a fake Spaniard being Brazilian really.
And what language do they speak in Brazil?
Portuguese, which makes him Spanish coz of the Iberian peninsular, and his mum’s best friend’s auntie’s dog was a bulldog, which makes him eligible for Danish nationality, since we eat their bacon, Kevin.
Excellent day at the cricket. Worcestershire v Derbyshire at Kidderminster. Sun shone. Beers flowed. And walking down the high street early doors a chap in a Wolves shirt. So naturally ‘wolves ay we’ Thumps up !
I’m not saying it is true, but……
http://juanfutbol.com/articulo/asairinava/diego-costa-seria-la-competencia-de-jimenez-en-la-delantera-de-wolves
England knocks again at the door of Diego Costa. No matter what Simeone had considered for the next season, the Atleti killer wants to remember his glories in the Premier League , but this time with the Wolves.
According to Globo Esporte , the Lizard accepted the terms proposed by Wolverhampton to return to England and it would be the direct competition of Raúl Jiménez in front of the lycanthropes , although it would not be bad to see them as the most lethal pair of English football.
Wolverhampton fans would fall for the signing, because they would have more opportunities to compete for Champions positions , in addition to being the sensation of the Premier , and for Jiménez it is their chance to prove that they can be in the world elite.
And from Twitter:

A very messy affair, that puts Laurie in very bad light and trying to hold the club to ransom.
Absolutely stunned.
Spiers saying something to do with him and his relationship with board.
Very confusing I must say
Tim Spiers says he gathers it’s the result of a deterioration of the relationship between him and the board, his position became untenable.
Totally out the blue!!
I read another tweet that he came to blows with Shi.
I’m not saying it is true.
I am speculating that Shi was getting too involved in transfers and it p***d off Laurie.
Maybe all of the Asian players being signed.
Just guessing, though.
He was not involved in transfers, only commercial side and marketing.
Yes, you are correct, sir.
no one will ever know for sure so speculation is pointless
shrug of shoulders and move on
no one is bigger than the club and fosun call the shots
its a FIFO situation
fit in or f!!k off
thanks for what you did laurie you seemed a nice guy to me
Sad news about Laurie the ruthless side of Fosun l guess, bit unsettling before the start of our campaign.
This account on Twitter that was used to tweet the news of Laurie 5 days ago was set up July 2019.
Presumably, someone set it up specifically to leak this.
Curiouser and curiouser.
This is NOT a good piece of news.
He is a good man who certainly had MY respect. For what it’s worth.
Bad timing!
There are also rumours abounding that Fosun are looking to sell up, which is why there have been no players signed.
They’ll be saying that the moon landing was staged in a studio next.
And that Boris will make a good Prime Minister.
And that sandwell disunited will get promotion.
…No… that’s getting too silly!
I heard Diego Costa was shopping for some mushy peas in the ASDA over the back of the North Bank when Laurie Dalrymple accidentally tripped him up with his trolley. Costa got in a right strop and immediately got in a taxi for Birmingham airport never to be seen again. A furious George Mendez stormed in to Jeff Shi’s office to complain and hence the hasty departure of Laurie. So that is what happened. Probably.
Many a true word, said in jest.
Just a question for you Barry….
How far do you live from Great Witley…? as we were in Stourport-on-Severn this week and saw a traffic sign to GW….
You were only five miles away Mike, I live in Little Witley, at the end of Bank Road. Next time you’re in the vicinity call round , it would be great to see you and yours. Xxx
Besides the fact Laurie was drinking with Clive till early doors and out of nowhere he’s quit ….. anyone know anything ? I thought he was one of the good guys !?
Don’t blame me, unless Jeff is pissed off coz I gave Dr. Nuno some cigars, but what’s that got to do with Laurie?
I was impressed by him, and neither of us were drunk, like some I could mention!!
However, everything Fosun has done so far has been top notch, so whatever the reasons behind the sacking, I’m still a happy clappy.
And, Laurie didn’t score many goals in his time at The Mol, did he??!!
FOwb
As possibly the some Clive could mention I would like to place on record my appreciation of all Laurie Dalrymple achieved in pulling the Wolves executive team and Wolves fans closer together. He presented the club as a caring and forward looking organisation.
Is his abrupt departure a consequence of his high profile and ability to reach out to Wolves fans and growing popularity? Pure speculation on my part but he won’t be the first to toppled for becoming too much the centre of attention.
I suspect there are pictures floating around from that night.
Here ya go, Timmo
I’m thinking a little more salacious.
There’s always the one of Clive and the inflatable Jez Moxey, but I promised I’d never reveal it to anyone.
Compared to Moxey he was the real deal. I think he made a real effort with the fans and not just empty gestures, he seemed comfortable talking to and dealing with the fans. He kept us in the loop and seemed genuine.
It’s coming home
It’s coming home
It’s coming
Crickets coming home

A brilliant performance by the lads.
Smashed the Ozzies!
Superb stuff!
Edgbaston stronghold for England. Haven’t lost a ODI to Oz there since 1993 !
I’m sure Laurie has a lot of sensitive information and if Wolves did anything “questionable”, he may know about it.
So maybe that explains a mystery tweet about him trying to “hold the club to ransom”.
Clive man !
The more I think about this mysterious resignation, the more I think it has something to do with your fucking shirt
Bollocks!
Busted!!
Now Steve Daley will never buy it from me.
Looks like I will have to wear it every Blog Ball!
Anyone seen the rumour on another site that Peter Kenyon is coming in to replace Laurie? May be fake news but on the face of it, possible. Fosun seriously looked at buying Newcastle before Wolves, and Kenyon is mates with Fosun/Mendes. Kenyon would also have had a good look at Newcastle then. He also failed in a bid for Newcastle several months ago. To cap it all, he brought Wolves to the attention of Fosun.
I wonder if some of those older reports of Wolves being interested in certain player, that suddenly went quiet, are because they were signed but not actually announced at the time.
For instance, you don’t hear much about Andre Silva and his transfer. Has he been signed but not announced? What about that Mexican guy?
Maybe they want to make a big splash by having them show up in China.
Or maybe not.
Regarding Andre Silva, never mind.
Staff losing there perk of season tickets…………penny pinching or justified either way its not good worker relations, or publicity. Is this part of the reason Laurie fell out with the board.
It seems strange because the money involved is peanuts compared to FOSUN’s wealth and it not going to make any significant dent in the list of people waiting for a season ticket. Smacks of the sort of thing Moxey would do.
I think this reflects badly on the club and FOSUN in my humble opion……..what do you folks think……?
Paul I haven’t heard of staff losing their ticket perk. But the motive behind it could be the board feel it is inappropriate for staff to hold season tickets while fans remain on a waiting list however small the numbers involved.
Probably not connected but the seat next to mine has mainly remained unused for over two years. Only a couple of times has it been used, and never by the same person. When I have asked the ticket office about this they have said it is held by a season ticket holder.
I knew about this 5 weeks ago, because the guy across the road goes regularly on his granddaughters ticket, she works for Wolves and everyone of them get 2 tickets. One guy, doesn’t go and regularly sells his ticket (not good)
They have all been offered the tickets for 1/3 price this season (a huge bargain) next season they will pay 80% of the value then after that they pay full price. I would love to take my grandson to more but like Paul AD we have two corporate seats in front of our seats that are never used.
When they close the Steve Bull to redevelop the ground the people who have no season tickets will not be able to purchase tickets as the capacity will drop, that’s about 7500 unhappy people. When the Steve Bull is done their capacity will not shoot up because more corporate boxes are going in. (Love or hate it, that’s where the bulk of the cask comes in) If we were seen to be giving free tickets to staff when 7500 fans are displaced there would be hell to pay.
The problem will be solved when the South bank is redeveloped, the Steve Bull fans will be back in their shiny new stand and the South bank will be big enough to to accommodate Everyone on the waiting list.
But if our success on the pitch continues, even 45000-50000 will not be big enough and the Billy Quiet will have to be done. But that’s going to be 5/6 years from now, so expect more gripes from loyal fans.
This is the price we pay for watching Samba footy. Me I’m loving it, but I do feel for the guys and girls working hard on our behalf, but there are other perks they could have, I’m sure Fosun will be on it.
Stu, I agree with you some of the way but the tickets were to compensate for and in addition to there low pay.
I was a steward myself years ago when council run the ground and used to get £10 and get to watch the game as part of the deal.
The corporate thing is down to the club to sort out, and as I said the amount of tickets and money involved is minimal. I myself am on the waiting list but would not begrudge an employer season tickets as part of the wage.
Perhaps the club could give them a pay rise so they could afford a season ticket some of them are of pension age and cannot afford to buy one.
This has always been a perk/part payment at most clubs for decades it just shows lack of thinking and consideration for those employees who do there jobers for little money and love of Wolves….!
It’s a slippery slope this sort of thing. Just because we are watching great football it shouldn’t be at the cost of our morals.
Normally when a perk is taken away it is a contractual obligation to compensate for the loss. No idea what that was for programme sellers etc. I am not a lawyer. But there may be summat to look at. And well done England. Heroic win in the world cup. Ben Stokes heroe.
Paul,
I sympathise with all of them, I have loads of friends on the staff side too. I’m on the fans Parliament and because of the lack of tickets people are looking at all kind of ways of stopping folk buying tickets and not taking seats at the lesser games. I am just relaying what management have said, it WILL get worse before it gets better. But, it will get better.
I’ve just watched the most exciting and entertaining game of cricket I have EVER seen!!
England World Champions.
Brilliant!
And well played New Zealand. On another day…
