If we can avoid finishing with three straight losses and extract some decent performances in the process, that would be satisfactory.
That’s not to say I’m downhearted heading into the final week of the season – it’s just a difficult sequence.

Confidence will be high in camp and rightly so. Both Albions had something to play for and our young side matched their desire and showed real quality at times to get the results.
They’ll need to repeat that in the next two.
It’s the Europa League or bust for both Spurs and Everton, but they’ll still be pushing hard for the points, making it a good experience for many of our junior players.
There’s nothing to lose so hopefully they attack these fixtures, seize the opportunity and show what they’re about.
Spurs
Is Tottenham’s failure to break into the top four down to mismanagement or are the players just not good enough? I know what Jose would say.
Someone else will get a chance to make things right in the summer and Nuno’s name is unsurprisingly being associated with the vacancy.

If it’s a change of style they’re looking for, I’d be surprised if they turned to our head coach given his own preference for building from the back. But someone will be getting the job and he’s as qualified as any of the other names on the list.
In the meantime, Ryan Mason is guiding the ship and he’s managed two wins and two defeats from his four games thus far.
They’re blessed with a rich variety of attacking options, including Harry Kane; out for personal glory, tied with Mo Salah on 21 goals in the hunt for the Premier League golden boot.
Son has 17 league goals himself and with such a prolific duo leading the line, it’s hard to believe they haven’t been able to establish themselves in the Champions League places.

The home end
Thanks to Tottenham, fan Declan from Spurs for Life who sent the following over:
I’m still reeling from another disappointing Spurs defeat, this time against Leeds United. There were flashes of promise in the game, but a lot of chances wasted. Despite the scoreline, it felt as though Tottenham could have and should have got more out of that game. But the ongoing issue is the defence which kept getting split apart by Leeds, and now Wolves will lick their lips in anticipation of our meeting.
With Ryan Mason at the helm, things feel more exciting with the re-introduction of the likes of Dele Alli, and by fielding Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale as a front three. But it still feels as if Tottenham are not quite clicking together in a post-Mourinho hangover.
Spurs and Wolves have both had disappointing seasons with disappointing defensive records. But the Lilywhites do have the more exciting front line which could prove to be the difference in what should be another close encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Wolves hungry to pick up more momentum after their last victory and with the home side trying to rally themselves once again under Mason.
Prediction: 2-1 Tottenham.
Wolves
There are two things I’m wondering. The first is whether Nuno will revert to a back three against stronger opponents and the second being whether he’ll use more senior players.

I’d start Traore and Dendoncker in place of Podence and Moutinho (or Neves), just to give us more pace and power. Brighton bullied us in the first half in much the same way Burnley did and we were definitely short at least one good header of the ball to defend set-pieces.
It’s a shame Otasowie missed out against Brighton after a positive outing against West Brom. I didn’t read anything about why he was missing from the squad, but he’s the exact blend of energy and brute strength we need, so I hope he’s involved this time.
If Nuno did want something more tried and tested, then Saiss, Moutinho, Podence, Semedo, Willian Jose and maybe even Willy Boly are all viable options.
Last time out
We’ve won this fixture on the last two occasions, coming from behind twice last season to win it with Raul’s dreamy breakaway goal, having also come out on top 3-1 at Wembley the previous year.

It was 1-1 at Molineux at Christmas with Romain Saiss grabbing us a deserved point late on after Spurs took an early lead and in typical Mourinho style parked the bus.

Well done to London wolvesloyal, theDOOGooder, Woodend wolf, Steve, Corbywolf, Johnok, DeptfordWolf, WOLFSTROKER, DancesWithWolves, Tipton Exile, MARNHULL WOLVES, Dallas Bob and Border Wolf for all collecting a maximum with a spot-on score prediction against Brighton.
Steve is sitting pretty at the top of the overall table at the end of Gameweek 35, locked on 34 points with Bedford Wolf, having made one fewer prediction.

Up The Wolves!

I was mean pre-Brighton and didn’t show faith in the boys so will back them to get a point on Sunday.
There’s no way we’ll keep them out, particularly if we setup in the same way we’ve done for the last two matches, but if Traore comes to the party and we show adventure in possession, maybe we can inflict some damage of our own?
Typical Lawro has us loosing this one 2-0 …twat ! He said that about the Brighton game and ended up with egg on his face . The guys at Sky have us down to win this game 1-0 and that’s good enough for me.
Plenty of pace and ambition please Dr Nuno…COYW
Their defence could be the key
Obvious cause for concern is Spurs strength going forward. But Kane has n’t looked at his best of late. Maybe because he’s looking for the exit door, or is nursing an injury or a combination of those. But Son is a very good player though Bale looks to be proving Zidane right.
Defensively and midfield they have looked a mess.
So this is a winnable game but whoever is selected all need to be on top of their game from the start.
Caught a piece in my paper: someone has come up with a formula for each clubs performance in relation to their spend on wages and consequent expected points. Based on this Wolves were rated fifth. I guess from that you could be pleased or take the view that if more was invested in wages we could have finished so much higher.
Any road – I expect a Wolves win.
Due to the fact I grew up in North London (and in an Arsenal household too) Spurs are the club I despise above all others. Horrible, arrogant, deluded. They pretend they are a big club but they are not. It’s 60 years since they won the league. What WBA are to Wolves – smaller, less successful, less supported etc – they are to Arsenal. Forever in their shadow.
Their current crop of players are irritating beyond belief. Diver Kane, gangsta Alli, dire Dier.
The Spurs result is always the third one I look out – to see if they’ve lost. I don’t even like it when they win a corner or even the toss to choose ends at kick off.
Being their in the past two seasons when we beat them at their place(s) are two of my happiest memories supporting Wolves.
No reason why we can’t make it a hat-trick this time. PLEASE!!!
OODCL
With three world-class forwards in the Spurs lineup, I’m struggling to be optimistic about this one. Normally I’m more glass-overflowing rather than glass half-empty. Sometimes I think we’d struggle against a bloody pub team in the first half! I read somewhere that we would be relegated on our first half performances, but would finish third on our second half performances. At least we recovered after a disastrous period in the first half against Brighton. Sometimes though the first half is fatal, as recent fixtures with West Ham and Burnley proved.
With Jimenez and Neto in the team, and Traore putting a shift in, I would be forecasting a win. Best outcome I see is 1-1 although I think Spurs will shade it.
Three world class forwards? Son and Jimmy Greaves twice?
To be World Class, I think you’d need to be picked for the squad a hypothetical World Team at a World Cup. Don’t think Son would get in but Kane might as cover for Lewandowski.
Correction to my forecast…
Too late Dances. Your first choice is the only one that counts ……. I think.
If, by some miracle we can win our next 3 (i know, not likely) but even still if we did, we will only finish 2 points worse off then last season. Not too shabby to say the least with missing 15+ goals a season from Raul, along with the other losses.
If Nuno, manages to keep everyone, without people jumping ship – and we bring in a few decent midfielders, I think teams next season should be very worried about playing us.
I think across this season on this blog, People have been like a see-saw. When, even if we lose the remaining games, we are only 11points off of last season. Now its drawing to an end its not been half as bad as we have been making out.
A good final 3 games and we have a lot to look forward to.
Let’s hope they play better in the first half Spurs are not playing that well easy win for Wolves. A 2-1 win for Wolves Silva to score first goal.
A lot of the time recently I’ve been predicting us not to score but looking back we’ve scored in nine of our last 12 games, although only once did we score more than 1.
Spurs on the other hand regularly score 2 or more, and not surprising with their options up front.
So no prizes for guessing my predictable prediction.
Bar Burnley, the only teams to score less goals than us have been relegated…
If we want points from this I think we need to revert to a back 3 and play the tried and tested performers as they have players up front that can hurt anyone.
My preference would be to roll the dice and stick with a back 4 and the youngsters.
We might get walloped but so what? Let’s just not start handing out stick if it doesn’t pay off.
What do we have to lose?
I honestly cannot see us getting anything from this game. Mind you, football results often dumbfound us, or , at least me, so I’m hopeful for a pleasant surprise. If Spurs forwards play to their potential, then we have nothing comparable at present to combat that.
It was good to see MGW looking stronger physically and mentally than in previous times. These next few games will show us whether that was a one off performance or not. Some of our players continue to look shot away compared to their old selves and I agree with Coady about the two year season; oh for a break to rest, recover and recharge.
These final games are easily losable but, our guys seem able to turn it on at times and, especially when not expected.
I’m, sadly, expecting a loss, 3-1 to Spurs, but any result will not surprise me at present.
If I play to my potential, I’d eat that lot for breakfast and don’t forget I love those wide open spaces in north London.
I would love to get a result but feel that Tottenham has too much up front and we are too weak at the back…
Getting an away point on balance would be ok.
Could we nick it? Yes, we could – again. Will we? Not so sure.
Still happy to continue with NUS experimenting for these last 3 games; badly need some height in the team though – we were dwarfed against BHA especially at the set pieces.
Score draw l feel.
On paper, a routine win for Spurs but I will support our mix of young and experienced players to again overcome the odds and take the points. I really admire Nuno’s qualities of achieving improbable comebacks from losing positions and this game may well go the same way. As ever, Adama, is the key for me. He is the one game changing player we have as witnessed by Spurs fouling tactics last season. I fully expect Spurs to have a player red carded.
Can’t see any red cards for Spuds if they just take it in turns hacking down Adama like last year.
Just can’t see us getting anything from this game – their front three will be too much for us.
There’s a solidarity amongst these new bloods … wouldn’t put it past them to nick a big scalp
I’m still clinging to the belief we will get 50 points
Don’t know how but it will certainly need 3 here
Maybe Otasowie brings some magic
and Traore runs riot?
Hopefully Boly and the Donck help eliminate our weakness from corners …or have Neves stand on a box
Whatever

What the **** is that supposed to mean?
LOVE A WIN, TAKE A DRAW, PREDICT A DEFEAT…
WENT
WENT ? IGU
Strange that post-WBA Otasowie didn’t even make the bench last Sunday, but instead Corbeanu, Cundle and Richards were preferred. And that against a physically imposing Brighton team. I suspect his days at Molineux may be numbered for some reason unknown to us.
As for this one, I’m not too bothered about the result. What I do want to see is a continuing commitment to giving some of the younger players more game-time, and a team which will compete strongly even if under the hammer. Oh, and sort out the marking at defensive corners…
All is not happy down at the Lane. Had enough of Mason already. Go and give it a go boys and score the 1st goal.
Dear Nuno
I hope you are well. Here are a couple of suggestions to bear in mind for future games.
Please forget the zonal marking from opposition corners. Your tall back three should be marking forwards, not empty space that they might possibly run into. More often than not the attackers just head the ball from the edge of the box after out-jumping our vertically challenged midfielders.
When we win one, please forget the short corner routine. I seem to remember that in the dim and distant past, we might have once scored a goal from one of these set pieces, but mostly it sets off an opposition attack which leaves us short of defenders due to them waiting patiently in the penalty area for a cross that never comes.
Please give your half time team talk before the game starts. That way, the rocket you normally have to deliver at the break will have an immediate effect.
This season has been difficult for everyone, and you in particular have my sympathy over not being able to see your family. It must have been heart breaking for you.
But things are getting better, and you retain my – and the PMDG’er’s – full support. I know that this will give you great comfort.
Wishing you a good Summer and look forward to seeing you next season from my usual vantage point in The Steve Bull.
Remember to give us a wave.
Kind regards
theDOOGooder.
I remember a shortish corner against Villa, passed straight to Neves, who scored with a great shot. That’s ancient history now. Neves is more likely to hit Row Z these days!
And, yes please, deliver the half-time bollocking before the match.
When I was coaching I used to deliver my half time team talks half an hour before I went to bed the night before from a shoebox in the middle of t’road. But you try telling the young people of today that – and they won’t believe you.

Luxury, sheer luxury…
Getting in early, just for a change. It will be interesting to see the mix of youngsters and older heads Nuno chooses to start. I do think we can get at least a point.
As this is still Mental Health Awareness week you guys might appreciate the attached, which includes yours truly trying to sing https://youtu.be/VywZWyz0HMQ
That’s absolutely brilliant Dougie!!!
Even the sandwell supporter dun good. (But I hope you gave him a kicking).
Eat your heart out Band Aid!
Thanks Mark. I would have done but he is bigger than me.
Well done Dougie…. there’s an obvious opportunity for you to appear on ‘The Voice’ … good to see some of the other guys too….
Good fun that Walk in the Park….
Cheers Mike. Mine is one of the off-key voices.
Can I have an autograph, please, before you get too famous.
Or just send me one of Barb’s turkey pies.
Turkey pie will be waiting for you…..next season.
That’s brilliant Dougie. Thanks for the link.
Just one question. When’s the album out??
Christmas, Steve. I jest, but it was fun to do.
Impressive mate. Respect. Will see you Sunday for a hello at a suitable distance if you want.
Cheers mate. Yes it will be good to see you.
Barbara says she can do you turkey pie if you want to come over prematch.
Clive will be upset if I did. It takes about 3 1/2 hrs to get down so I may be pushed for time mate. I will call you when I get to Wolves and might have time for a coffee and chat though.
I would post it to Clive….but US Customs might not be too happy.
Coffee and chat, time permitting, will be good.
Turkey pie…?
Well that’s me and Lady Twix pitching up for lunch mate…
You’re always welcome mate.
Amazing, brilliant. If we perform half as well against Spurs well lamp them.
I was in the chip shop down Gornal the other day and someone said ” You know that piano which Chas and Dave used on Top of the Pops to sing Spurs are on their way to Wembley? Well it belonged to my great Auntie Shazza who lived in a cave on the Wrenner near Dudley” . Intrigued, I finished my chips and had a look around the cave. Jolly splendid it was too. A nice roof, a couple of walls and a large rock up the corner behind which you could go for a s**t. I mean Ben Fogle is always interviewing people who live in caves and eat boiled snails for tea. Clearly there is nothing wrong with it. Ex Spurs player Ralph Coates looked like the sort of person who could live in a cave. The massive comb over hair would have acted as splendid shield against rampaging wildebeest and stuff. And spurs will certainly wish they had Ralph Coates ‘comb over shield’ in their midfield Sunday as nothing will stop a pumped up MGW / Vithina axis and Adama rampage. Even Harry Kane will be a hapless bystander as WWFC complete a hat trick of away wins at Spurs by 2 -1. After the game Nuno said ” I am so glad Ralph Coates retired many years ago. Trying to stop a huge comb over hair style flapping around in midfield is difficult. Even worse when it’s windy. It could literally put someone’s eye out. Relief. Big relief” Ralph Coates said ” Look. That f**kin comb over was in the 1970’s when all sorts of people had one. I’ve shaved it all off now grade 1 so f**k off” Spurs 1 WWFC 2.
Can’t argue with that sort of logic.
We’ve had some great wins v Spurs (never forget the Wembley match, mainly bc we were sat in the middle of the Spurs fans and had to keep quiet (until we got outside). They get very, very irate with away fans in their midst, even though there was plenty of room).
We won’t keep them out. Be nice if we score first.
I think a carefully curated mix of experience and youth can get us at least a draw.
From the lofty heights of 9th in the PL (Prediction League) I’m going for 2 – 3 to us.
We were in amongst the arrogant Spuds fans too and kept quiet ……until Boly scored and BOG went mental. When we went 2-1 up I thought it was going to get nasty but by the time Costa slotted in the third we were dancing on the seats as the home fans streamed out in silence. Oh happy day!
OODCL
They started leaving really early. I can’t understand that. They could have lifted their team to victory; but Spurned seem to give up as well.
Some Wolves fans near us celebrated our 1st goal and almost got set upon. When the 2nd one went in the stewards were called!!!
Nothing to lose for the youngsters, but think Sperms will be up for it as they need European football to pay for their glitzy and expensive gin Palace.
I expect their forwards to play havoc with our defence, and our midfield is just not creating enough to get the forwards going. Hope I’m wrong ! Would be happy to see a couple of the young ones show their talent, and Fabio at least to score again.
We can win this game if we take a leaf out of Leeds book, we know Spurs have some really good players and are probably favourites to win this encounter. The way we rallied the second half against Brighton showed we can still play football even though they had a player red carded.we have only pride to play for but spurs need to win,so hopefully they’ll leave them selves open at the back to sneak a goal.
Up the wolves.
This is not a good Spurs side. With the likes of Matt, Sanchez, Sissoko, Moura, Ndombele, Bergwijn (and the now departed) Gedson Fernandes scrabbling for crumbs of playing time, this is the very essence of a too large unbalanced squad.
On the back of that ridiculous wage bill and stadium expense to initially intend to claim govt furlough funding (decision reversed following fan uproar) and then ‘weedle’ into the Euro Super League – this is currently not a club that has anything to teach us about ethics efficiency management or leadership.
But they do possess some dangerous experienced players. For this game they have us at a disadvantage and we should accept that a win is unlikely.
Nuno’s team selection must straddle the need for developing youngsters and remaining competitive. My hope is that Vitinha and MGW both start, I really feel this is the heart of a potential way forward.
I don’t fear the game or the likely result. I am fascinated to see how our youngsters compete and really hopeful we carry at least some threat.
Personally I would try to bridge the wages bill with Adams, but I fear money alone will not dampen his move ambitions.
We just don’t look anything like good enough to win most games. Particularly those against teams with a genuinely potent attacking force like this one.
Why do we still persist with Neves? He’s the latest addition to the “was once superb but am now invisible and impotent” clique.
Three tough games left for us on paper so it will be interesting to see if Nuno sticks with the kids but to be honest they have not let us down well called upon. Some of the senior players have been our worst performaners recently. Would love to see the kind of team that finished the game with Vitinha a bit deeper and Gibbs-White in the 10. As far the defence who knows is Boly ready?? Who plays at the back will have their hands full with Kane, Son & Bale
No matter how poor they have been by their own standards Spurs will be far too strong for us.
Spurs 3 – 1 Wolves
I will be ecstatically happy with a point from this encounter. We still have a way to go before we get ahead of ourselves.
Sending off Dunk was a game changer
Do Spurs players want to be in the Europa anyway, virtually 2 continuous seasons Euro’s then back early for Europa
Will Boly play ? Makes a huge difference at the back
With Kane, Son and Bale in their team, I fear a bad day for us. Hope I’m wrong.
Let’s face it, Spurs are in turmoil. When they go for an attacking team, their defence is at least as leaky as ours and when they don’t they rely too much on Kane and Son to get them out of mire. Basically, I’m saying that they are there for the taking and why not when we’ve done it many times before?
Since entering the fray, our youngsters have, in the main, outshone their older, more experienced colleagues. Are they actually better players? I would say not. I feel the reason is that our old guard are knackered whereas our youngsters are fresh. The blades we’ve seen slice through the opposition so cleanly in previous seasons have been blunted by overuse whereas the kids cutting edge has been freshly honed and is keen to show what it can do on the big stage.
A proper rest over the summer for our erstwhile heroes will work wonders. Stir in the best of our youngsters and a sprinkling of new signings, especially at the back, and we will see a completely revitalised Wolves, taking on, and beating, the best in the league. As we all know they can.
However, we still have three tough games to come and these will be a massive test for the kids. But from what I’ve seen, three points in this, the first of those three, is far from impossible.
Wolfstroker… your comments are always spot on mate…. and a pleasure to read…
Can’t wait to see you in the Combemere next season…
Blimey Twix, you can’t wait?? I’m climbing the walls here. It’s been a long dark winter, for sure. I’m sure though, that ”Out of darkness cometh light”
Thanks for the kind words and can’t wait to bump elbows in the autumn.
First went in there when Irene and Brian were running the place and they provided the best pint of Draught Bass anywhere. Early 80’s.
Proper pub tis. Still do excellent ale too.
Agree with Thomas tea apart from Dendonker doesn’t do enough for me. It’s a difficult one to predict this one both teams not firering on all cylinders. Kane and Soul are a threat so is Bale although he’s not the player he was then again he’s not got world class players around him at Spuds.
Be good to stick with the kids playing in a stadium like Spuds even empty should be something to motivate them. It won’t be 0.0 that for sure but it could go either way. Adama has to start.
I’ve lost count of the number of our players who it’s suggested should be shown the door.
Neves now?
Looks like we’ll be a little shorthanded when they all go so, if you’re reading Nuno, I’m available!!!
And I’m cheap!!!!
Me and Raul up front? What a forward line!!
Continue to blood the youngsters! And keep Killman in the team!
Can’t honestly see us getting anything from this ( or last 2 for that matter) but cannot vote against us. 2-1 Wolves.
I’m wearing my lucky wig tomorrow.
So all will be well….

Spurs v Wolves
May 17th 1972 – The EUFA cup final second leg. 49 years ago on Monday – where HAS the time gone eh bloggers?
Wolves, 2-1 down from the first leg at Molineux, had it all to do but as we travelled to North London in Mickey Poole’s Ford Corsair, optimism was high. I don’t give a flying fig what Spurs fans and Fleet Street claimed, Wolves did not deserve to lose that first leg. Many years later I had the pleasure of a natter with Martin Chivers and he admitted he closed his eyes before smacking that howitzer past an out of position Phil Parkes from 30 + yards.
Parking up somewhere near Broadwater Farm and walking to White Hart Lane I felt sure Wolves would do it. As we approached the stadium with thousands of fans milling about, the street sellers were flogging silk scarves with “SPURS 1971/72 UEFA CUP WINNERS” printed on them. Before the second leg had even kicked off! Boastful bastards.
We eventually squeezed into the packed Paxton Road End and with the attendance approaching 55,000 it was pretty crowded.
Well we all know the result. Wolves conceded a goal after 30 minutes when Alan Mullery netted only for David Wagstaffe make it 1-1 some 10 minutes later and to pull it back to 3-2 on aggregate.
Urged on by their travelling support, Wolves gave it their all in the second 45 and at times ran rings round Tottenham. Dave Wagstaffe was unplayable but Wolves could not find the killer touch. So the first all English European final ended in defeat for Wolves.
Looking back at those two games and with the passing of nearly 50 years, we probably thought this was the first of many European finals, especially considering the quality in our squad at that time, but it was not to be. Nuno has come the closest since then and we all can hope for that elusive second appearance in a European final.
However looking at it another way, not that many football supporters can say they have been to a European final and for that experience alone I am truly grateful.
Looking at tomorrow, lets make it a hat trick of successive away victories v Spurs.
One further memory to come this season- a trip to Goodison when Andy Gray made his debut for Wolves and Emlyn Hughes really wound up the Toffees way back in September 1979. That really WAS a game and a half.
If not – well have a good summer Bloggers. I enjoy reading the thoughts and opinions of all the different contributors and long may it continue.

Pat Banks, Ada, Big Mark Davies, myself and a bunch of others met up in the Tavern, by the Man on The Oss.
At noon.
By 2.00pm, mostly pissed, we got on a private coach, where we continued drinking Newcastle brown, coz the organizers had loaded dog knows how many crates up front!
Half way down the M1, most of us desperate for a pee, and the driver went sailing past the services!
Cue empty beer bottles, now pee filled.
Got to White Hart Lane just before kick off, coz there had been bad traffic, so the driver told us to meet him, in Trafalgar Square, at midnight.
Don’t remember much about the game, too pissed, but I remember afterwards walking past Sadlers Wells Opera place, where there was a big crowd outside, coz Princess Anne was inside.
She got some nice remarks as she walked out, from a bunch of drunken Wolves fans!
Midnight in Trafalgar Square.
Us up top, waiting for coach.
Square full of rowdy Spurs fans, celebrating by climbing on the lions.
So, drunk as skunks, me and Ada started down the steps to sort them out, thinking the rest of the coachload would be right behind.
Wrong.
They just stood there watching, but the funny thing was, the Spurs fans thought our lot would be down as well, and they all ran off!
Bunch of wussies.
Loff, we had a plateful!
So, back on the coach, drinking Newcastle brown all the way to ‘Ampton, getting back around 4.00am, and piling into Pat Banks’s blue Cortina, and he dropped us off on the Penn Road.
Cannot remember the next day, except I didn’t go to work.
Those were the days, my friends.
Ha ha ha
Brilliant!!
Cracking story mucka…….
Nothing changes with Wolves’ die hards…. and there’s always a few beers to remind oneself of a good day out…
Oh btw… is it Marla’s birthday today..?
AHH
Memories of the Boys Brigade day out?
Lol
I couldn’t make the last game v Spurms away … cuz BOG had my ticket..!! But I was at Wembley for that swashbuckling performance by the boys the year before.. and boy did I sing like a bird walking back to Wembley tube station.. along with thousands of other Wolves fans… then I got pissed in a pub in Uxbridge with Stuwolf and Lowves (with the ladies of coarse) ….
and to quote a Spurs fan when we went 3-1 up … ‘f@@k me it only Wolves’
Well hopefully we’re their bogey team and why not….
Another sweet victory over them tomorrow will do very nicely….
Nuno knows best…. and with Boly returning, Traore giving Dier twisted blood and Neves pulling the shots … what’s not to like about feeling confident of a result…
Lord Twix !
You always tell me your body is your temple and you never ever touched alcohol!
It was … I used to take wine at the Temple and Tavern.. as well as pints of Black and Tan, Banks’ mild and never missing out on super Tennants ….
Grateful thanks for that Spurs ticket last season Mike – the last away match we were allowed to attend before the lockdown.
It was a truly memorable day out.
Jota, Doherty and Jimenez!
Get in!!
I have to say their new stadium is pretty impressive.
See you next season !
Ring you tomorrow.

I love it, just love it when I’m wrong. So:
Guess thats one for the prediction league?
Well done Leicester!
Beat the fancy Dans.
I got quite emotional. A down to earth club that Wolves’ could do a lot worse than try to emulate.
Properly run, responsibly owned and well managed.
And if anyone says that the FA Cup doesn’t mean doodlesquat to players or fans anymore…
… You are deluded!
Absolutely Doog. One in the eye for the ‘Big Six’. I remember Chelsea crowds of 7000/8000 in the late 80’s. And don’t get me started on Spurs who have won about as much as Accrington Stanley in the last 30 years. And Gareth Bale and his ‘man bun’. The most ridiculous haircut since Phil Oakey out of the Human League in 1981. Well. Apart from that bloke out of The Flock of Seagulls.
If I had a photograph of you…….something to remind me……I wouldn’t spend my life just dreaming.
Bloody hell Cheesy going back a bit there mate.
Yes son. Probably 1982 or 1983 summat like. Although not really punk like my bag still some good stuff in the early 80’s.
Hate to predict this but…
Let’s Go Wolves!
Really hope I’m wrong.
We’ve more to play for than Spurs in this one. Let’s catch Villa!
Come on Wanderers!
Can’t see us keeping them out. Let’s just try and give them a game. If only we could replicate the scenes of last season, even minus the star names of that day.
Hate predicting against us but it will be difficult to win this one.
Their front three will cause us lots of problems.
I hope that we stick with a younger squad to provide some experience for next season and also to help us decide which of the current loanees to keep.
I dread the likelihood of Kane threading a through ball that splits our defenders to have Son through on goal. And any corner or set piece that we have to defend. And our poor start and concession of the first goal…
We can’t always fight back from losing positions.
Sadly don’t realistically see us getting anything out of this one. Simply don’t fancy our back 4 against their front three.
I’m with you on this Steppen, particularly as I’ve now seen the line up. The defence particularly at wing back look shaky and will need plenty of cover from MF
Easy win. Solid record against Spurs. Fully confident. Three glorious points
More seriously, we’ve got no strikers and they’ve only got strikers so could be well balanced.
Not going to predict anything less than a win for the remaining games
Not a lot to play for? Bollocks, deluded top 6 club need bringing back to earth. Hope we thrash the cockney gits but doubt we will.
Just a win will do.

Not sure what to think about this one. Team and formation is up for grabs. I hope he sticks with the young potential players who can earn themselves deals for next season.
No reason why we can’t get a result, but we have to go for it and not sit back.
Let’s hope we do!
Should be an open game.
Would take a draw but going for a win!

35 million pound is ???????????????
When are you admirable, loyal but deluded bloggers going to wake up to the fact
that Fabio Silva is no where near this level and in my opinion a very very poor
player. It is my pet subject I know ,but another factor about him is his desire
to chat and paw opposition players !! A truly dreadful signing who will quietly
disappear into the football wilderness !
I agree 100%
Do you also agree that gibbs whyte is of the same breed .
How is he on that pitch ???
He’s on the pitch because he had a pretty good last game and scored a bostin’ goal.
That’s how.
Hilarious your blinkered pal.
What did he do in the last game ???????
Except score after he’d missed an open goal .
Pathetic
I’m sure my blinkered pal is not hilarious, whoever he may be.
I’m certainly not blinkered and I’m CERTAINLY not your pal.
He did more than most other players on the pitch in the last game.
He probably had more right to be on the pitch than most of them.
Spot on doogey
Are you his brother or related ? ??????????????
Am I his brother OR related?
If I was his brother, I WOULD be related.
Are you confused or just a bit simple?
PS. I’m not his brother.
…or related.
Oh dear dear ,you are upset .you should handle defeat a little better .we’ve got so use to it .
Never mind ok let’s keep players like him and let’s enjoy life again without VAR.
Incase you don’t understand that means in the championship.
Just in case your simple like me x
The silence says everything !!!
.
Totally right Tim. No support. Shame.
The epitome of a (potential) languishing club to be,now without player resource …
If we don’t buy seriously ,change the manager or both then nxt season will be dire..
This result not that relevant but as we are- the writing is on the wall..
I’m not sure that I would single out Silva and MGW for criticism, the more senior pros just haven’t stood up to the plate this season and God forbid they don’t look as if they’re trying. Our midfield simply haven’t got the legs and are overrun far too easily – for the life of me I can’t see what Dendonker brings to the team – he’s had a really poor 12 months.
It’s almost a roots and branches job for me. We need a midfield with more skill, pace and physicality and despite some skill I don’t think that Vitinha fits the bill, he gets knocked off the ball too easily.
You could say the same about our defence where we need at least one central rock. I’m also not sure that Hoever and Ait-Nouri are ready for the constant rigours of the Premiership just yet.
Disappointed with today and we should have had at least one goal.
Agree totally and your point about Dendonker spot on.
The commentators before the game talked as if them scoring first was a certainty. And that we wouldn’t score afterwards.
Time to go to Spec Savers !
Another woefully inadequate performance- too many of them this season. No pointing over analysing why we are here as all the arguments and counter arguments have been explored. I just go the feeling today that everything about us reeked of staleness. Manager impassive on the touch line, players going through the motions, no energy, no ingenuity etc. As many have said let’s forget this season and go again in august hopefully with players fit, organised and a manager re-energised for the task ahead after some useful acquisitions in the summer. Nuno deserves a few months to sort this mess out. One thing is absolutely definite, if we start next season like we have played the majority of this season we will be in the market for a new manager before the next transfer window.
Too many hanging out with Leonardo me thinks.
Watching on Sky and listening on the App bit too much delusion there today. We never looked like doing anything . Apart from Adama we did diddly squat.
For the guy above saying Silva is nowhere near good enough at this level obviously your opinion but he is 18 and has in my humble opinion , touch, movement, intelligence, work ethic but above all youth on his side to develop into a really decent player. If, as individuals we are honest with ourselves and think back into that cloudy distant memory and can say without conviction “yes at 18 I was my finished article, this is as far as I am going to soar at my chosen field” then fair enough. There are not too many, with apart, arguably, from the exception of Pele, youngsters at that age who are the finished article. Most are really rough diamonds, they need to be given a decent chance with us as supporters backing them all the way, because at all ages, but especially around the time you’ve just started shaving, confidence is everything. That said, we are all entitled to our opinions and those opinions will vary massively. Life is about perception from the viewer. Whether we are looking at a painting, watching a film, listening to a piece of music or watching a guy running along a wing with a football at his feet we will all see things differently and for me this is the beauty of the game. One mans frustration can be another mans inspiration. If however, we all saw the same thing there would be no discussion over the after match pint.
As I’ve said in previous contributions, our season is over and it was, in all honesty over after Raul was malleted by that thug from Arsenal (still can’t believe there was no retro action on that assault against a decent footballing man). We can only look forward to the guys getting a decent rest followed by a good pre-season interspersed with some astute dealings in the transfer market both in and out and hopefully full stadiums next season. As Ruben says he has not played in an atmosphere as good as at the Molineux and that my friends is worth points when you’re up against teams like the Villains and in the last seconds you have the 12th man urging you on rather than an overpriced desperate defender gifting them a penalty. Again only my opinion and for what it’s worth my opinion on our team today which will differ greatly for many, was as follows:
Rui : A decent game and one of our better players. Definitely kept the score down. A lot in the media this week about him going off to join Jose, for me one of the best shot stoppers in the league. If he could sort out his distribution and commanding his area he could be the best in the league, however the old idiom, new tricks and old dogs springs to mind. If he wants to go then take the 8 mil being touted about.
Kai, huge potential in this young man. Yes making errors but he has to cut his teeth and now is as good a time as any to do it.
Conor, undoubtedly a great leader and some great last line defence but if we are serious about moving up levels, he does not have the speed and athleticism to deal with the best at this level.
Romain, nowhere near good enough to take us to the next level. For every good thing he does you can put a minus 5 next to that. He has removed the probable/definite yellow card tag this season but it could be argued has been more than lucky to get this far.
Barcelona must be having a good chuckle about Mr Nelson, good speed and nice gravity but not good enough defensive wise, like a fair few of our current team, inconsistent and unreliable.
Joao, one of the best technical footballers I’ve seen play for Wolves but maybe time together out with honour. A shadow of his former self.
Mr Dead Donkey, headless chicken. So so disappointing another one who had the potential but never materialised.
Adama, best on the pitch today and with the exception of Neto the only one throughout the season who could really make a real change on a game. How many times when we have been devoid of any creativity and ideas has it been reassuring to see those biceps getting baby oiled?
Vitinha, potential but non-existent today
.
Morgan, have never understood the hype about this young man. Not and never has been good enough and I feel never will be.
Fabio, over the season there has been improvement but some regression today.
None of the subs did much, I know Jose has mainly knockers but I have liked a lot of what I have seen this season. Yes not enough goals but to be fair diabolical service since he arrived. For a big lad he has a beautiful deft touch but why oh why do they not play to his greatest strength, get that ball in high around the penalty spot and he will head them in for fun.
Anyway lads and lassies only two left and we can cheer on Mr Coady at the Euros enjoy your big reopening over there tomorrow and stay safe – UTW
Agree with most of what you say Norsk except for Patricio. He made a good save today but he doesn’t command his box and he’s really weak low down both sides
Hi Ernie, I actually mention that if he could sort out his distribution and commanding his area he would be the best in the league because I think he is woeful in both areas although he has improved slightly on the distribution side from early days
Very good analysis but I think patricio is edging towards moutinho status. Number of mistakes this season mixed with excellent performances
…..one more point…. given the context why did Saiss and dendoncker get in ahead of kilman and otasowie? Surely Nuno has seen enough of Saiss and dendoncker to know what they are capable of, why not give max and Owen another test?
Well i am utterly disappointed yet again.
I really do hope Fabio Silva has some sort of a revelation in the closed season and comes back to blow us all away with his speed and guile, pin point accuracy and goal scoring majesty.
As of now i see very little to excite me in his game and have gilded myself to believe i know nothing worth knowing about football or footballers and nuno and his minions know best.
But a little numscull in the depths of my mind is telling me we have completely wasted 30 odd million on a youngster who somehow has managed to navigate his way through the savage footballing junior ranks to get to where he is purely on his own merit and footballing skills.
Exactly !
how has he done it?
Either his parents are billionaires and like some formula one drivers they have paid their way in or he has genuine talent that nuno is about to unleash on the world,
I have decided to trust nuno and dream of Fabios super future .
Show us what you’ve got Fabio and get your hair cut .
No energy ok so this has been a bitch of a season buy where the professional pide.
Adama for all his critics already he tried.
I know we all want this season to be over a forget it …..but end the season on a low and it could spill over into next season…. remember it was only our good start this season that saved us from being dragged into a relegation battle and the three teams coming up will be a lot better than the tree going down.
Given that the three teams getting promoted could easily be the same three that got relegated last season that may not necessarily be the case.
Since the low point of the Sandwell defeat in January we have taken 23 points from 17 games. If that is translated over a season it means 51/52 points. If there is a successful summer transfer window with recruitment of additional quality over what we have now then I don’t think we need to be overly concerned. BUT. This all depends on what direction Fosun intend.
Trouble is Cheese, your statistic points to how little progress we have made. 22 points from first 19 games, 23 from the next 17. What will Nuno achieve with this squad in the next 3 months that he hasn’t achieved in the last 9 months? Why will our recruitment in the summer be any better than what we did last summer ? £60m was available from the sale of jota and Doherty and we’ve bought what to improve our squad – Semedo and Silva? Neto won’t play until October at the earliest, we will be lucky to see Jonny play much at all next season and the spine of the team over the last couple of seasons I.e patricio, boly, moutinho are I’m sad to say on the wane. Unless Fosun get a lot smarter in their recruitment and/or spend an awful lot of money I am struggling to see how things will improve much. Nuno has done very well for us up until this season but nothing he has done this year has instilled belief that he is going to crack this particular challenge. We will soon enter the sixth season of Fosun’s 10 year plan and Nuno deserves the chance to get things back on track but the dependency on mendes signings has to end as I fear we have reached the summit of what his player roster can bring to our anbitions
Yes. Astute observations Sutton. I am pleased you are prepared to support Nuno going forward. And yes lots of questions around Fosun, Mendes, transfer policy. I think Fosun deserve some slack. They made a few mistakes in the early days. They probably made some more in last years transfer window in the emphasis on youthful signings. But overall, compared to previous owners they have come up with the goods. March 2017 to now demonstrates the progression. Sure, there has been a stalling in the progression this year but I am confident Fosun will continue to learn lessons and move us forward. Jeff is an astute individual who is the face of Fosun. He has recently made a committed statement. We are fans and we all want what is best for the club. We will see what unfolds over the summer.
All those teams especially Norwich will have learned from there mistakes last time around Sheffield Utd have been the worse team for a good while to finish bottom and Albion have done what Albion having been doing for the last 10 years they coined the phrase ” yo yo club ” and Fulham haven’t been able to stay up even when they spent big.
We cannot guarantee our Premier League status on the basis there will always be 3 worse teams than us.
Happy to have a bet anytime any day that Norwich won’t survive despite probably having a pretty good start. Learning is one thing, having the players to put in place such learning is another. I’ll definitely be researching those relegation prices. The other two promoted teams won’t fare better unless their owners are as astute as Fosun were.
Marvellous scenes at Smethwick. The liverpool goalie gets the winner in injury time. Great defence by Big Sam. Perhaps we should have him as manager instead of Nuno.
Clearly defining current problems and issues is one thing, however, the hard part is finding solutions. No implied criticism of anyone but I’d be very interested to see more detailed comments from fellow bloggers on exactly how they would go about improving Wolves’ current situation. It’s easy to say we need to improve our recruitment policy, we need to buy new players, Nuno has reached the limit of his capabilities etc. but Jeff and Fosun have a very difficult task and can only do what they’re capable of and what is possible. They’re competing with other human beings of similar stature. Sometimes you have to wait a while for the right opportunities. I don’t know the answers and all I will say is that the top priority surely, is to stay in the Premier for a long time no matter where we finish.
Finally, Fosun have a ten year plan with the objective of achieving Champions League football. It is eminently sensible for a business to set objectives but they are no more than that; they aren’t promises. I’ m always optimistic but if they don’t succeed I hope as the end of the period approaches people don’t start criticising them for failing to deliver.
