We might boast world football’s most famous sprinter, but this is a team built for distance.
Robust, disciplined and when opportunity presents itself – deadly.

If anyone wondered whether Champions League football was a realistic aspiration, wonder no more.
Wolves aren’t going anywhere.
Tottenham’s lack of strikers has been well publicised and Raul Jimenez showed them exactly what they’re missing with a finish of devastating quality.
Jota made it of course with outrageous skill and dribbling, having already scored himself and played the role of architect for the first.
I’ve long suspected the difference between Wolves being a good side and a great one is Jota delivering the goods.
The prospect of brilliance is never far from the surface but until recently hasn’t come to the boil frequently enough.
It’s no surprise that serene progress in Europe and consecutive league wins coincide with a rapid injection of form from our number 18.
Doherty was similarly crucial with a goal and an assist to add to his own mind-boggling numbers from right wingback.
Some penalty area ping-pong and a fine Auerier strike either side of Doc’s goal threatened to take a relatively even contest away from us, but as is often the case, Wolves kept plenty in reserve.
Once Traore had finally had his say by muscling through some tackles and opening the door for Jota’s equaliser, there was always a sense another moment was coming.
And what a moment, seeing Jota slalom three quarters of the pitch and Jimenez deliver the killer blow.
It was a goal that belonged in Europe’s premier competition.
And if they continue to last the pace, it’s exactly where this team is going.

Wonderful result! Great game, Wolves performance through and through. Need to build up our goal difference when compared to Chelsea as we may need it come the last game of the season —-against Chelsea.
Finally, so many deliberate and blatant fouls against Tarore, where are those yellow cards? Every time he is about to break away, a clear and obvious foul, but no yellow!
Enjoy the moment folks, it does not get much better!
I checked the fixture list today too and was pleasantly surprised. If we only can beat the so called lowest rated teams in the league, we could easily qualify for champions league. Man U and Spurs continue to give away points. Leicesters fixture list compared to ours are tougher, in my opinion. And I believe Wolves can gather more points totally if they get a dip in form and Wolves continues to win evenly played matches.
Absolutely brilliant. In the words of Nuno. It was a good game. Difficult to play against this team…. we move on to the next game and look to Brighton; a tough opponent.
Keep calm. We are Wolves.
I thought Nuno was crazy playing Jota in a three man front line but it worked out well.
And it turns out that I was right – we scored more goals and we got all three points.
So there!!
BTW, as I said recently, the players have to look and make sure they are not offside. Then VAR can’t rule against you. That disallowed goal for Everton was an example. If the guy had gotten up and moved off to the side when he realized that Everton still had the ball, the goal would have counted. His sitting on the ground served not purpose whatsoever.
Maybe Nuno can use that as a teachable moment.
Curious if Dr. Nuno ever goes on line to pretend to be an expert about whatever it is you do for a living, and presumes to know more, though in your particular case that wouldn’t be difficult, and tells you what to do differently.
Very doubtful.
I would think that every Wolves fan in the World, bar one, is happy with how Dr. Nuno is performing.
You need to move to Wolverhampton Tim, and apply for a job as Nuno’s adviser. You certainly know what you are talking about and know exactly how to prepare a team to win.
Brompt,
Mountains & Mohamed, I think we could all move over to Tim would be much easier & probably cheaper too. Would save on the redevelopment too.
If we also got Fosun to fund it as a project I’m sure they’d get tax relief.
Not such a bad idea one thinks.
Brilliant well deserved win
Jiminez and Jota have developed a fantastic understanding. Playing like this there is not a better duo anywhere.
But what about Doherty. He is playing with the utmost confidence, like he fully expects to score in every game he plays. His ability to get himself in the right position at the right time is uncanny. I know of no other wing back who comes close to his attacking threat.
Yes, nice to have a full back who can score – almost like having an extra striker. In fact we have a goal scoring team, not only deadly strikers. No wonder we’re such a difficult team to play against.
I would like to point out that Clive and Brompton Wolf have nothing to say about the actual game.
And the blog is not any less informative because of that.
A brilliant TEAM performance!
As I predicted, there was a queue of Spurs players waiting their turn to bring down Adama. And most of them got away with it.
You couldn’t blame the bloke if he packed his bags and flew off to Barcelona.
The thing that pleased me most about the game was that we were ruthlessly clinical in our finishing.
Chances created – chances converted. You can’t ask for more.
The thing that worried me most was the continuing shakiness of big Willy.
Smutty pun intended. (I normally enjoy that sort of thing).
He’s looked decidedly dodgy in the last couple of games. An air shot in our penalty area today losing the ball in dangerous positions and some poor distribution is an ongoing concern.
I’m sure he’ll be back to his normal impeccable standard in the not too distant future – after all, form is temporary, class is permanent.
But please Nuno, it happens soon!
In the meantime, let’s bask in the brilliance of this result, the character of our team, and the superb management of the ‘Special One’.
And I don’t mean Mourinho.
Ohh matron
So you think that big willy needs some more time to get to his peak?
For Tim sake I could comment on the performance but after an hour and a half I was completely exhausted.
For those who haven’t noticed, we are now on a 1.5 points per game average. That’s the same as we ended up with last year for 57 points.
Loved the post match interview with Maureen.
Where he claimed Neves and The Donk should have been red carded.
I thought Atwell had his best game yet reffing a Wolves match.
If Maureen was any sort of coach he would have recognized Vinagre was our weakest link and pulverized our left.
But he didn’t, whereas our magician tweaked at half time, and the result was never in doubt.
Diogo back to him imperious best, Raul, one chance one magnificent goal, and a brilliant performance from our other Doc, Matt.
Nice week off, then what should be another three points.
Oh, what was the score from Wemberlee, anyone??!!
Agree with you totally Clive. I was a tad concerned that Adama’s passing, especially his short passes, were way off mark today.
Magnificent result. Was chuffed when I saw Nuno’s team sheet. Especially playing Jota in a 3 man front line. It worked so well.
Clive have you noticed that we are now on a 1.5 points per game average. Is that not the same as we ended up with last year when we hit 57 points.
I think you might be correct, Tentman.
Do you mind if I check with Tim, the blog expert on everything?
Clive, let`s take the comparison beween Maureen and Nuno further so that it is in real perspective.
** Maureen is a spoiled braggart, full of his own self importance. Nuno is a quiet ,self effacing man eager to praise others and to minimize his own impact.
** Maureen sees fit to lambast his team publicly after every loss — which by the way are becoming ever more regular events. Nuno never does so. seeking only to constructively discuss how improvements can be made
** Maureen regularly singles out individual players who he deems to have played poorly and who have thereby fouled up his supreme master plan. He personally never accepts any blame for failure. Nuno never disusses the merits of individual players, but refers only to the team`s efforts, happy to accept full responsibility for all results, good or bad alike.
** Maureen frequently chooses to give almighty praise to his favorites , even when their performances have been mediocre. Nuno will never be drawn to single out any player for individual praise , choosing only to extol the developing maturity of his team as a whole
** the successes that Maureen has achieved are long past, and were in any event largely based on a budget which at that time others could not match. Nuno has built a magnificent team from scratch, and on a relatively small budget. Coaching talent, not cash has brought about success
SUMMARY: The only thing these two have in common is their Portuguese nationality. Maureen`s lack of real abilty has long been exposed. He is a flawed coach on the way out. Conversely, Nuno is showing week on week a coaching talent and a tactical awareness that is unrivalled . He is the man of the future. And he coaches Wolves.
Enough said.
We’re on fire going forward but this must go down as the week the Wolves defence had off.
I think I’m starting to appreciate even more what Jonny brings to the party. We’re just not as good without him. Vinagre is a decent winger but not much of a wing back.
A great result though and sets us up nicely for a potential Champions League spot.
That last game of the season could turn out to be massive.
Now now Prawny, remember Dr. Nuno’s wise words, only focus on the next game. Three points at stake for a match at Molineux v. Brighton & Hove.
Nothing else matters OK?.
Fabulous result today , must have been great to have been there.
I know, I know. I just can’t help myself.
Listened to Thommo & Mikey B on Wolves radio whilst cutting out a new bathroom.
And reckon that was the least we deserved following the reverse fixture back in December.
Thank you Thomas for posting the highlights as the first I’ve seen the goals.
Wonder if Kane or Ali would have stayed on their feet when Adama was rugby tackled in the build up to Jota’s goal???
As Nuno says “these are a special group of buys” but Nuno really really is “the special one”.
Also has anyone noticed we’re smack on 1.5 points per game = to equiv of 57 points, sand as last year.
Well done Dave Whelan’s lot yesterday against the shadow dwellers and bad luck veeela (LMFAO)
Proper FWAW COMB FOwb
Never mind Kane or Ali, not even a sumo wrestler would have stayed on his feet. Absolutely brilliant, Adama.
Jose Mourinho, Bill Nicholson, Jimmy Greaves, my best man Paul Clarkson, Glen Hoddle, Martin Chivers, Chas and Dave, my old schoolmate Bob Cleavely, Peter Cook, Gary Line-aker, Paul Gascogne, Ossie Ardiles, my work colleague Mark Scott, Peter Cook, Alan Mullery, my son-in-law Ben Scutt and virtually my entire school from 1968 to 1975 – your boys took a hell-uva beating!
Brilliant! Ecstatic! Over the moon!

I figured that of all of us Bedders, you would enjoy this the most. 🙂

Don’t know WTF happened there.
Where’s the delete function Thomas.
Yes, that makes it absolute complete and utter bollox.
Stu Wolf, Stu Wolf,
So good he blogged it twice! 🙂
Loving how this weekend seems to have brought out amnesia for a couple of PL managers.
First off, as mentioned by others on this Blog, we had Brendan Rogers (who I don’t mind generally) whining about Leicester’s ‘goal’ against Norwich on Friday night being ruled out (“very, very harsh”, according to him, don’t remember him grinning too much in the post match interview either :-;…oh, Lineker’s bleating on MOTD last night was also quite satisfying).
Then after today’s fantastic win vs. Tottenham, Mr Mourinho claiming a “totally unfair” result against us…after we got mugged by them at the Mol. earlier on this season…again, I have a nice warm feeling of satisfaction this evening!
Great times, savour them!
And they complain about ref’s being inconsistent.
Mourinho said the result was ‘unfair’. Well your team should have buried their chances, it’s that simple.
Wolves were largely second best in the first half, Dele Alli should have made it 3 with his head but you can never ever ever write this wolves team off. Funny old game, football. We played a lot better against these at home and somehow lost.
They don’t know what giving up is. Jota’s skill and dribbling before pushing the ball out to Jimmy was exceptional. Jimmy’s finish was brilliant.
This really does feel like a massive result. No one can write us off now, we’re firmly involved in the race for the champions league qualification. The next 4 games are also huge. We’ve got to be looking at 10-12 points surely? Well done wolves excellent result.
That was fucking brilliant
Well done wolves
And cheers bedders / Twix for sorting those West Ham tickets.
Great winning goal . I’ll remember that for ever
Got home from Barcelona last night 12-30am, up at 7-45am for the train to Spurs, absolutely knackered, full of the Flu, throat feels like I’m swallowing razor blades, tired, lethargic but got to do my bit for the boys.
We were very slack in the first half but still slotted a goal in. But what a fight back, what a win and what a crowd that 12th man are.
A lot of folk on social media slating Reuben Vinagre, well lets look at the facts, the boy was marking someone I rate as a really great player in Serge Aurier. He twists and turns and has quality and skill. Reuben did his best but the lad’s best position is winger, to prove it he took on the Spurs defence and beat them to slot home a beauty to Doherty to pop in from close range.
In the second half he contributed more and all in all was an integral part of a good team win. I wish folk would give the boy more credit, he is still developing and will I’m sure grow with this manager. He certainly tore 3 Spurs defenders a new arsehole down the wing closest to us and put a tasty cross in.
Two hours after the draw on Thursday, Mr & Mrs Lowves and us were booked in for Athens, Tuesday to Saturday, 4 star Wyndham hotel and flights for £275 each. So a break until Saturday Vs Brighton, then off on Tuesday for our latest jaunt into Europe. Maybe if it goes our way, sitting 4th in the PL on goal difference.
I’m bloody loving this.
Completely agree with your comments about young Ruben Vinagre, Stu.
The kid’s got stacks of potential and tough games like today’s against Aurier will only help his defending over time.
Brilliant second half from the lads.
COMBs!
We have real Status even on TV..now champions league being mentioned..Stu Wolf in Athens..WTF….I remember being at Crawley not that long ago and now we have world beaters…
This game.. Jimenez winning goal pure class, Jota magnificent, Traore perhaps the player of the season ..
We have 4 at least very winnable games coming up…4 th place anyone?
Is that a bet?
As the second half progressed, you could sense how our lads had a wellspring of determination that they would not allow the points to slip from their grasp. We simply would not be denied and some of the quality we displayed was absolutely top drawer.
Raul’s winner was just sublime.
Our amazing record in the capitol goes on and I’m feeling that we are currently stronger than we have been at any point in this excellent season. Self belief exudes from every pore of our team and a top four finish is now very achievable.
Fantastic stuff.
A point of balance between the two teams for me was Serge Aurier and Ruben Vinagre. Both in many ways their team’s weak link (Vinagre is very young still and has the potential to be outstanding). Both were great going forward, but Vinagre held his own defensively (except for the Aurier goal) and his shape was much better at the end. How Jota got past Aurier for that 3rd goal is scandalous.
Irrepressible!
If I had to think of one word to describe this Wolves team, that would be it. There is absolutely no stopping this team. They will never accept defeat and will fight till the very last whistle (even when it’s minutes after the allotted extra time ;-)).
To go play a top club on their turf, in front of their fans, and spank them for 3 lovely goals (and not like it’s the first time this season) irrespective of having been behind twice, like it didn’t matter … .
I did lose a lot of respect for Mourinho today though for his unsporting comments. He’s bigger than that usually. We must have really got under his skin. Too nice … really? Was he watching them hack down Adama over and over? He wishes his lads played for him with half the loyalty and irrepressible commitment our players have for Nuno.
We’re rocking it at the moment. Another round of the same please boys!
Keep it going Wanderers!
The skill and ability in this Wolves team is unquestioned. But the commitment is incredible – epitomised by Doc, who (in addition to yet another goal and assist) busts a lung time and again to get into the action in the attacking 6 yard box and threw himself full length to get a vital block in the last minutes.
A fantastic interview by Sam Wallace with Dr Nuno in 1st March Sunday Times if you can get hold of it – sorry I am too technically challenged to try and get a copy to post. Describes how the team has become one pack and why Dr Nuno really is the special one ??
Thanks Liz great write up about the great man in the Sunday Mail aswell.
From Clive from Harstings
Sorry Clive, I’m assuming it’s a cockerel.
hey you pair of numpties, that’s a fekin throstle
Nuno is truly the Special One. A few wags dubbed Maureen as the Kosher One when he was appointed, due to Spurs’ Jewish following, but to me he is the Has-been One.
I cleaned up a bit with bets on Wolves to win and also with Wolves to win with BTTS, nice double whammy. My top six bet for Wolves this season isn’t looking too shabby either.
Why is it when I turn down a ticket to Spurs v Wolves, that Wolves win? I did it last season, and we won 3-1. Yesterday my cough kept me away. Nuno should pay me!
I can’t comment much on yesterday’s match apart from what I saw on MOTD. But, what a tremendous game for Jota! I laughed when I read that West Ham scouted him a few years ago but thought he wasn’t good enough!
A new King of the Capital.
Look out west ham & Chelsea, we’re coming for you next.
This bloody Coronavirus, it makes me forget things.
(The new King of the Capital)
Maureen was humble and more than a little complementary towards wolves when they stole 3 points in December
Not so much now though
Brendan was very smiley and thought var was funny when they stole points off us twice
Not so much now though
Pundits and fans laughed at the mention of wolves in the top four
Not so much now though
7-8 points from the next 4 games is very achievable and possibly the minimum this team can get,
Guilty of googling the 10 best things to do in Gdansk
Old town looks nice and the beer should be cheap , but I’m getting ahead of my self I know but we don’t have a game for a whole week

Breaking News.
The UK Government has announced it is considering banning all large gatherings, which would mean the postponement of a number of football matches.
West Bromwich Albion will be allowed to continue as normal.
Joking about a possible pandemic. Class!!
Pandemic?
Media scare mongering at its finest!
And who says I’m joking?
Oh, you, Timmy.
Shouldn’t you be with Julian, Dick, Anne and George, drinking some ginger beer?
Folk of my age will know what I’m on about, Enid.
Bit early for the comment made in your second sentence methinks, Clive. Octogenarians are the most vulnerable so please be careful.
3,000 people are dead already. But then, your president says that it will all go away in April once the warmer weather arrives.
And over 60,000 people died from flu in Britain alone last year.
Get some fuckin’ perspective, for fuck’s sake!
The rate of death of infected people is much higher for this. If 1/10 of the number of people get this that get the flu, then a million might die.
You are about as bright as your president.
Sorry, got my numbers wrong. It’s only 20 times as deadly. Still nothing to sniff at.
Last year we got 15 points more than we have this year.
Let’s put things into perspective. We were much better last year than this year, right Clive.
Sorry to be pedantic, Clive but you are talking total garbage. There were less than 100 deaths from flu in the UK in 2019. So you’ve only multplied the actual amount by 600. That would make your next prediction 3,000 – 1, assuming that the opposition still only get one goal. Should be an attacking feast.
Blimey, all this over a little joke,
Lighten up guys
Utw
Clive is getting his American statistics and UK statistics confused.
Everything’s bigger in Texas.
A performance in which the majority of the players were, like the Curate’s egg, good in parts showed the power of the collective. What I absolutely love about this team is that they remove the worry aspect from following them. We simply know that those on the bench will find a solution for those on the pitch, even when we are struggling a little. The strength is in the pack, on and off the field. On Saturday it took a little while but once the equaliser went in there was only going to be one winner. You could see the confidence evaporating from Spurs as they resorted to pumping high crosses into our box in the absence of any other solution.
Maureen, like so many before him, has yet to recognise the difference between ‘possession’ and ‘control’. One day he’ll see the light.
Maureen has had his day a bit like Warnock Dinosaur’s
While he is still managing the opposition I prefer to keep Maureen blindingly oblivious to the difference between possession and control. Let him continue to believe Spurs thrashed us based on the stats. And Eric Dier, far from being dire, played a blinder of course. And if it wasn’t for that biased referee, Neves would have been carded at 3 minutes, which would have made all the difference. And where’s VAR when Maureen needed it , three bleedin’ offside goals by Wolves! Outrageous. Of course Maureen, you are brilliant. Shame we won’t be seeing you next season. I quite like Three Points Lane, London N17.
Well I think it’s a good joke. Just a bit of banter at it?
I thought it was funny too.
Well what can you say. Goals of beauty. At a big stadium. Looking at the premier league table and there it is. Wolves sixth. I still have to rub my eyes in disbelief. Back in the day a point away at Grimsby on a Tuesday night was great. I know you shouldn’t keep harping back but I believe it keeps us, as Nuno will say, humble. So on we go. I was looking at the Spurs forums before the game and it is a TRUE marker that their fans were genuinely in fear of us. How times have changed! And a mention for the chap who got the winner for Wigan at Sandwell Town. An ardent Wolves fan who took extra delight at scoring. These are the days my friend.
Thanks Cheese, I’ve looked at the Spurs fans sites as you suggested. They aren’t happy with Moaninho at all. Before the game saying Wolves are too good, moaning during it and totally p****d off afterwards.
Ian Wright is a fan, Mark Chapman was impressed and even Jermaine Jenas was complimentary on MoTD 2.
Chaps,…..I think we’ve arrived. Isn’t life great.
Not in the slightest bit bothered about the pundits and experts jumping on our bandwagon.
They havent endured 40 years of shit, as all true Wolves fans have.
As you say, Stilton, keep looking back, stay humble, and remind ourselves of where we were.
I recall a lot of people saying what a roller coaster ride we are in for when Fosun came on board.
They were not wrong, how great it has been, and we still are not at the end of chapter one!!
I was there too Cheesy…..
Cold as you know what …. and admiring the Findus Stand….. watching us scrape a draw against high flying Grimsby..
‘Sing when you’re fishing… you only sing when you’re fishing…..
R and a few beers before in The Leaking Boot. Free juke box mind ya. The Jam , punk and ska. Brilliant!
I think last year the highest Wolves were in the league was seventh and this year I think the highest we are in the league is sixth?
So is our current sixth position the highest Wolves have ever been in the premier league, since it started in 1992?
Except for under Mick. Third season in the Prem (when we ended up relegated). Top at one stage. After 2 games.
Thats right BFAN (before Fosun and Nuno) when we had many false dawns and hopes.
August 2011 I think. After 3 games, 7 points, we were top of the PL. Fast forward to May 2012 and we were bottom.
I think we were fifth for a while last year.
Depends on how far into the season it has to be to be relevant.
Early season placings can give a false impression. Top of the PL with Mick was definitely false due to the small number of games.
We are currently sixth with ten games to play. We could look at the same stage last season to compare. At a guess I would say we were seventh last season with ten games to go, but I don’t know how to easily check.
Nice appreciative write-up about Diogo – enjoy!
https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/wolves-diogo-jota-nuno-espirito-santo-tottenham-spurs-goal-premier-league
Good spot Jazz, what an interesting and thoughtful article. Really enjoyed the read. How lucky we are to have Nuno and his pack- having seen so much tripe since the golden years of the 70’s at the Molineux
Yes good article but they are not suggesting that Jonny Otto is Portuguese are they?
It’s looking more and more likely that Adama is going to need surgery.
When would be the best time for that? Is he going to get it during the summer?
Does that mean he won’t get called up for Spain?
With so much happening for his club, I think Adama himself would rather put it off until the summer. After his date with Gdansk.
So he’ll miss any summer tournaments?
I can see this dragging on and on, like with Raul’s wrist.
BTW, it’ll be interesting to see what happens to the size of his shoulders if he is not able to do any upper body work for the months that he is recuperating.
Are the media finally waking up?

OK Tim I will ignore this posting.
Methinks Timmy needs his own zip code, he has more posts than USPS
The guy tries to post a comment with a fake name and forgets he has a picture of himself attached to the account.
Brilliant.
Wow Timmy you are the bomb!
That never occurred to me!
How smart you are!
Guess I should have thought about getting another e mail address if I’d wanted to be incognito.
Man, I wish I was Canadian and smart, eh?
Thanks Tim, I skipped over it as suggested.
St Petersburg is very nice in May. See you there?
I may have to stop posting on this site for a while. Please let me know when Tim does the same. He is too annoying and I no longer enjoy coming on here.
Until then. Be good.
Children. Children
Firstly let me say how impressed I was by the four four two article on Jota.
I think the credit is now being given to
how clever, professional, technically able and synchronized this team is becoming… and it really should just get better , injuries permitting .
( that said I’m given to
Understand that dislocated shoulders never fully heal and that means shady defenders will tug Traore’s arm as often as they can…it’s a shitty side of the game)
Meantime two thoughts
1 the news that Jorge Mendes has had both his homes raided by Tax folk isn’t good …. there’s no smoke without fire and even if we assume Wolves have kept all monies above board, if they uncover dodgy dealing by Mendes he could end up disbarred or whatever or in the slammer and he’s a big part of our winning formula …maybe there’s now enough critical mass of credibility talent and potential that his absence won’t matter but I’d rather him be around to continue advising Nuno et al
2. Tim clearly is a wind up merchant and he’s succeeding on the Blog
Just deaf him out as if he’s a baggies fan ( wouldn’t our season be further improved by them falling back into
Playoff places and getting to Wembley ..and well, you know..)
Anyway FO Tim
Tim may be a wind up merchant but there are certain bloggers on here who seem to take exception to everything that he has to say even on the odd occasions that he is talking sense. He’s not the only one who talks drivel particularly when the IPA is flowing.
Ped Ant…..
Do we really want to have ‘Wind Up merchants’ using this site …. a media forum for Wolves fans , so diligently and professionally constructed … and more to the point unfounded by its users…..to have it damaged and tarnished by people whose sole aim is to cause argument and offence…..
DEFINITELY NOT……
Unfunded
Maybe not but what would Clive, for one, do with all his spare time?
Thank you – I think.
The only person I wind up is that knob in Texas. And that chick.
You see what happens here. I don’t say anything bad and then Clive takes a shot at me.
I shoot back and it’s my fault.
Look at the thread and see who couldn’t resist commenting negatively on whose post first.
He’s like a stalker.
One last comment (hoepfully). Brompton Wolf says the blog is not more fun because I ruin it.
I would like to point out how she was mocking me earlier in the thread because I pointed out how we were on a point a game pace. Completely unprovoked against her.
She doesn’t seem to do anything wrong and it’s all me.
Tim. It is purely banter on my part and I apologise profusely if you have taken it in any other way. I shall refrain from commenting on your posts negatively from this point forward. Just for your information my name is Steve.
Thats a strange first name for a girl!!
Firstly many thanks to Mr and Mrs Twix for the loan of their away season tickets whilst they are visiting NZ. Three of us from Bedford (Bedford Wolf, Paddy and yours truly) travelled to the game.
The trip to Spurs last Sunday was another unforgettable sojourn to the Smoke and cemented our reputation as the scourge of London clubs as another brilliant season gathers even more momentum. After the disgraceful behaviour by certain Tottenham players at Molineux in December this surely was payback time.
When Raul netted the what turned out to be the winner after that amazing run by Diego Jota it was yet another most incredible “mental celebration” to add to all the others we have witnessed under Nuno’s supreme reign.
Full credit to Wolves for coming from behind twice and ultimately travelling home with all three points. Our never say die attitude comes to the fore yet again!
The Spurs fans on both the overground from WHL and underground from Seven Sisters back to St Pancras were remarkably quiet…..! Cant think why!
A word about the new stadium….
As the train from Liverpool Street (we had an early beer in Weatherspoons) pulled into White Hart Lane station it was impossible not to notice the gleaming stadium that totally dwarfed the dodgy- looking flats and questionable fast food outlets surrounding the stadium.
Up close it reminded me of a dockside cruise ship rising endlessly into the sky. It took about 20 minutes to walk round to the away entrance from Tottenham High Road.
Once inside, yes there is no doubt its very impressive and yes the catering and toilet facilities were more than acceptable (nice touch that the catering staff were wearing tops with a Wolves emblem emblazoned, even more amazing was the pints of beer that filled up from the bottom of the glass) but like a lot of these new build stadiums (Emirates, Etihad, Riverside etc) the atmosphere is sanitised for want of a better word. “Football in a library” sang the 3,000 or so away contingent on Sunday and frankly without the usual vociferous Wolves supporters it would have been akin to watching football over our local park. Our support was reflected upon by a Spurs fan on the train afterwards.
Anyway all in all a wonderful day out again. Waking up on Monday morning I waited and waited and waited for our postie to arrive (he is an avid Spurs fan) but guess what – according to the postie that eventually appeared “he has taken another round this week”. Basically he could not face the music…………!
Thanks Mr and Mrs Twix…..really appreciated.
