For the first 45 minutes they were outplayed. For the second they were outstanding.
Wonderful Wolves at their wonderful best bringing down the curtain on 2018 in typically spectacular style.

Taking into account the opposition, the surroundings and the storm weathered in the early moments of this contest, it must be viewed as the finest result of the year.
Talk about saving the best for last.
When Harry Kane dropped the hammer there was a sense of the inevitable and as they continued to pour forward at will, I was gearing up for damage limitation.
Adama Traore was the only out ball and despite some neat footwork and the occasional blast of the turbo, no actual chances were created for anyone wearing gold in a routine first half for the hosts.
When our record signing came off on the hour you’d have been forgiven for thinking our chances of laying a glove on title chasing Spurs followed him down the tunnel.
But the introduction of Helder Costa and perhaps more tellingly Joao Moutinho changed the game. Wolves were suddenly the more assured in possession and controlling the play on the generous Wembley pitch.
It certainly helps when you’ve got a giant to head in set pieces, but if Boly’s goal was routine there was nothing straightforward about Raul Jimenez’s smart finish.
The Mexican was again exceptional in leading the line singlehandedly and his nutmegged, thread the needle goal was a moment of genius. What a sensational signing he has been.
Costa by contrast has found the going tougher of late but his match clinching strike – and first in the Premier League – should skyrocket his confidence levels heading into the new year.
Whether or not there’s significance to the claims of ‘we’re tired’ by Poch and co, the fact is they were outplayed in the second half and punished for complacency.
Wolves built up momentum, gradually dominated the ball and were simply rewarded with the goals their approach play warranted.
With 8 shots in the second half and zip from Spurs, there can be no discrediting the result.
[interaction id=”5c27e037f6c28245c4c6de8a”]As it was last December, it’s been a phenomenal month with four wins collected from six games and all the important questions addressed:
Can we use the squad?
Can we tweak the system?
Can we take enough of the chances?
Yes, yes and yes again.
Marry all that to technical ability, tactical intelligence, organisation, resilience, character and a growing belief that they belong amongst the very best and it makes for formidable opposition.
I’m not sure what 2019 has in store, but after a day like today – I can’t wait to find out.
Happy New Year!

What did I prefict? ?
You predicted 3-1 Mr Bucknell.
Nobody likes a smartarse.
But, in your case, I’ll make an exception!
Nice one Barry , I predicted 3-2 obviously I gave thyway too much respect! They were never going to score 2 against us ha
Oh how I wish I was there! Great result – but the thing is most of those of the Wolves persuasion will not be too surprised. Though coming back from one down away from home is special!
So pleased Helder scored – hopefully it will restore his confidence and he will return to being the player we all know he can be.
Nuno made all the right calls again. Just love him.
Meant to say – Merson, Merson, what’s the score?!
not forgetting Mark Lawrenson, the BBC Football Expert, who had us down to lose 2-0 as usual……….
OMG what a result.
I’ll never doubt Wolves again, even more satisfying than the Chelsea result, nothing better than going to shitty London and doing them in their own back yard. The London media will most probably say Spurs didn’t play well because of too many games bla bla bla.
Every Wolves player deserves a big 10.
Merson you can piss off…..
Well I didn’t predict that! I went for 2-1 and was counting my winnings at 25- 1 when we went and found the net again. Well done, Helder.
I watched the game in the pub up the road on the ‘unofficial’channel. In the second half we looked like Barcelona at times and I ay being a twat saying it. Spurs couldn’t get near us. They may say they were tired and all that shit. Truth is they were out classed. Once Big Willy got the goal there was only one winner. Stats second half show spurs nil shots Wolves eight.Such was the domination. Blimey where can we go now. I think we are probably 8 or 9 points short of our true position if you look at Leicester Arsenal Man Utd Brighton results. Only really Huddersfield and Watford we didn’t show up. I still say Cardiff we deserved a point. And we continue to be Wembley wonders. Six major wins in a row. Ecstatic. Perhaps the fucking experts will give us a mention on MOTD tonite. Once Liverpool and Fulham have been on of course.
On MOTD it will be about how Spurs failed not how Wolves won. But hey who cares?
Too right mate. Second half we made em look nothing.i look forward to MOTD. Lawro and fat bastard Merson giving us some credit. Just shows how these highly paid ‘experts’ know fuck all about teams outside the ‘big six’
Fat bastard Merson has never been on match of the day as far as I am aware. If he’s had a transfer from Sky then Sky must have paid a hell of a lot to get rid!
Never said Merson was on MOTD.
Apologies Cheese but that’s what it reads like.
No worries mate. Take no notice of me. I was full of beer last night when I posted that. Happy new year chap.
In fairness Shearer was raving about us earlier.
Especially pleased for Dendoncker and Costa both of whom will get much confidence from today .Second half was the best half of the campaign to date against a top form side .To be there will stay in the memory for many years .Thank you Fosun for making it possible .
Yes, kudos to Dendoncker. Not the easiest opposition to debut against.
A truly excellent performance by wolves. Absolutely brilliant. Full credit to the lads, spurs were reduced to only long range efforts in the first half (Kane’s finish was superb to be fair) our defending was outstanding. Then they came out second half, took the game to spurs and kept them camped in their half for pretty much 45 mins, played some top class football, scored 3 goals and sent us all into ecstasy.
Coady organised the defence like a general and Jiminez led the line like the top class centre forward he is.
Brilliant, absolutely fantastic. Well done Wolves.
What a result!
This was truly a game of two halves.
And those two halves encapsulated the reason why Adama Traore will never fit into a Wolves starting line up.
He had by far his best 45 minutes for Wolves yesterday. He made some good runs, beat a few players, didn’t fall over every time someone came near him and his final ball was usually good.
However, his presence in the side unbalances it horribly. We seem to change our play from the smooth passing style that we have all come to know and love, to hit and hope he can get on the end of it.
The first half saw us battling away but unable to string many passes together or create any chances. Our midfield, including, worryingly, Neves looked a poor second best.
But as soon as Adama left the field and Costa and, particularly, Moutinho came on, we started to play proper football and Spurs just couldn’t cope.
We were back to our imperious best and, Boy! didn’t we give the Spurs cock a spanking!
The PMDG’er and I watched it on HesGoal.com and it sounded like the Wolves fans were all miked up. Was the game played at Molineux?
All 3000+ players and supporters at Wembley deserve every bit of praise and credit today.
I salute you all!
I disagree. He’s progressed and he was one of our best players in the first half. If he can do his ‘magic’ in positions where there’s greater end product potential, he’ll represent a force we can reckon with – and different alternative to the other types of players we have (he already is). Of course, he’ll face tough competition from Costa and Jimenez – players which still are a bit inconsistent.
They say opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one.
Well, arseholes have opinions, and for arseholes read pundits.
Why they keep dragging these has beens and never weres to give us their “expert” take on upcoming matches baffles me.
Just because they were good footballers, a million years ago, doesn’t turn them into good analysts.
It is lovely to see them get their collective noses well and truly stuffed in the shit.
And as my mate Derek Williams said at half time, it was nice that we gave Spurs the first goal, it settled them down, and lulled them into a false sense of immenent
victory.
Ha ha
I have to say I was let down by our performance today since we could have scored two more, easily, and that would have made my prediction and day perfect!
We sat and screamed and lost our voices in Nick’s Place, Houston, and danced with delirium.
Unbelievable result, second half they didn’t have a single shot on target, and fabulous to see Kane, who did score a cracker to be fair, get booked for diving, and then later to be told to fuck off by the ref.
(it looked that way, any road )
The olays at the end was the finishing touch to a first class performance.
However, I am quite content to “be under the radar” for a lot longer.
I ay tekkin me shirt off till Wenzdi.
By the end, Clive, I thought your prediction may actually happen. 🙂
Brilliant Clive. Nearly everyone on this blog gave us a chance. No one outside it did. That is football. Long may it continue. The heart and soul in every Wolves fan.
What a fantastic game .
Clive, I drove back hoarse from Nicks place too.
Great atmosphere at Nicks Place in Houston with Clive and the great Wolves fans there.
I’ve watched the second half again .as I loved to see how they played and Moutinho changed things up a lot.
Proud to be a Wolves supporter in Texas!
Keep under the radar. Yes, I love it when pundits get it so wrong.
By the way , Clive, ( from Houston), who is Delirium? Is she a good dancer?
We have our tickets for Woy on Wednesday and Poo , in a fortnight or so.
Happy New Year to you and All.
Clive (of Kendal)
Not seen anything yet, only heard the commentary. So all I can say at the moment is, of all the wins we have enjoyed since Nuno became our main man, this one takes the biscuit. Absolutely bloody ecstatic. Still trying to get my head around it. Wowie Zowie. Nuno is indeed the special one.
Spurs fans pre-match – Easy win for us. – They’ll just ‘park the bus’ – Could be a cricket score.
Go suck on a jellied eel numpties.(and you Merson)
Brilliant just Brilliant Wolves – Wolves Ay We
I shall wait to comment fully after watching motd just to hear what “they” have to say.
Either they will give us the credit we deserve or as is more usual will make excuses for Mr Kane and his band of primodonas .
Let’s hope they are fair
I live in hope !
Can’t wait for MOTD ! Merson are you chocking yet ! Never underestimate this Wolves side ! NEVER
Every time I predict a Wolves defeat we win or draw. What a win.
When Mick’s team won 0-1 at WH Lane, I recall all the media “speak” ahead of that game was very similar. “Is this going to be Tottenham’s year ?” Nothing much about that afternoon’s match with Wolves almost as if we were irrelevant and that it would be but a formality.
That’s not Spurs’ fault of course but at last we are starting to get noticed by the media, thanks to Nuno and Fosun.
Not sure why we’re getting so upset with pundits. Are we accusing ex-Arsenal player Merson of bias towards spurs? Or is backing the second best team in the league to win at home outlandishly ridiculous? Not that it matters. A joy to be at Wembley today watching this outstanding side, Moutinho excellent when he came on, Jimenez is a genius, Boly is, well, Boly. Imperious. UTW
Being one of the “unlucky ones” that didn’t get a ticket today had to settle for watching a fully legal stream with Wolves TV commentary that was completely in sync.
Beer helped the first half after Able scored a super goal & 62:38 possession it was a risk of Spurs running away with it.
But then que “the best second half of football I can remember”.
For everything that has been wrong with us in the Prem, that 50 mins will have made up for every minute.
Possession, skill, tenacity, control, enjoyment but above all “the most complete team effort ever seen”.
Not willing to single out a MOTM but listening to 3,000 fans with voices like angels make me as proud as I could ever be.
2/01/19 will see me working with a Spurs fan & thanks to today “smugly mcsmugface” will be back.
Roll on Liverpool in the cup & Citeh – they both be sheetin it!
PS I like Shearer
PPS Danny Murphy, a weaselly Paul Merton
Friday morning
Don’t put your wolves shirt on today son
I want to wear it around the pool dad!
Save it until Sunday
Why?
Because we play at Wembley Saturday
So!
Well we can both wear them after we have stuffed spurs
Hello Sunday morning
Utw
so replaying 1972 …that leaves us winners 5-4 on aggregate I think
my prediction of 3-1 ( loss…may Nuno forgive me)..well at half time i felt it coming….but maybe the gods were with us as Traore’s substitution made such a difference (despite him having done well)….passing around to the same colour shirt is so much better than throwing a stick for your dog to run after thank you Mr Moutinho
sensational second half…btw did we play Fulham a few days ago?
have spent the afternoon recovering my voice and checking out the newspaper match commentaries…the Telegraph writer gets it just about right
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/12/29/tottenham-vs-wolves-premier-league-live-score-plus-latest-updates/
meantime back on the Spurs blog…….
11 hrs ago “We normally score 5 or 6 goals but today I go for a conservative 3-0”
9 hrs ago “Not playing well at all! ”
8 hrs ago ” bloody awful since we scored ”
8 hrs ago “FFS – what the hell are we doing? ”
next one’s a classic
2 hrs ago “I why did I watch match of the Day trippier is so bad he’s in no man’s land for both of their last goals. All the defence were just bullied like little boys today.I’ve paid in defence and there’s no way anyone would try and get to that ball on a cross and he more than me my head would try and get straight through that ball. They’ll just watched and jumped where they were standing. It’s one thing go forward we’ve got to sort out back 4 and practice against set pieces.times now I can bully us especially in the last minutes when we’re panicking and sitting back.”
Nice to see how articulate the Spurms can be….
onwards and upwards….
thanks for the Telegraph match report. Very fair.
It was great to be at Nicks place in Houston today with Clive and the other fantastic wolves fans, how good will this team be when they start to play in the first half as well. Kane’s goal slowed spurs down and allowed wolves to regroup and see the half out, who would have predicted that second half, this squad keep upping the bar- thanks lads.Clive see you at the next match at Nicks.utw
5:30 AM and I can’t sleep.
Maybe it’s because I watched the game live on hesgoal.com, accompanied by audio commentary from Wolves TV (not in sync), and then later the Sky TV highlights, followed by MOTD. So many thoughts going on in my head – and then I decide to get up and download off Amazon “Viva Nuno: The Chinese Revolution” by Michael Petalengro. Just so to read a bit, but maybe it was not such a good idea….
What a fabulous year this has been, finished in great style by our boys in gold.
Thank you also to Thomas and the guys that write this Blog and everyone else who contributes or reads it.
Happy New Year all!
Happy New Year Dougie. 🙂
And to you, Steve. Are you around for Palace?
I am Dougie. All being well.
Stick with the book, its a great read and very funny. For Wolves Fans Only.
Drink to me only with thine eyes, well bloggers we got well and truly pissed.
Nuno had a dream indeed.
That’s a day that will live long in the old memeroy box, we were there on the day we spanked the Spurms at Wemberleee.
Must be fair to Spurms, their manager and all their fans are now saying, “they were tired after a busy season”.
Other fans are demanding Trippier and Alli’s head.
Plastic fans…
Shit ground no fans,
Shit ground no fans.
We stuffed you good amd proppa, you bunch of whingers.

Happier New year bloggers one and all.
Largely the same team that squeaked past Bristol city a year ago, but with a few shrewd additions like Raul, Jonny and Joao. Immense how we’ve come on.
I’ve said it a few times, if we can now just find a way of crushing the smaller teams, we’ll be on course for European qualification which will be a superb achievement for a newly promoted club (and not even the biggest spenders outside the top six – I’m looking at you Fulham, West Ham and Everton!).
How do you turn arrogance into invisibility? Score three goals in 15 minutes and all the arrogant arseholes bugger off home.
This post is dedicated to:
A) the arrogant Spurs fan sat behind me who for over an hour declared that we were there for the taking, could get beat by 5 or 6, were not interested in winning, were just trying to keep the score down, couldn’t cope with Spurs pace, skill and movement and were the worst team he’d seen in a long time.
B) the arrogant Spurs fan to my left who after we’d equalised shouted “Come on Spurs, we’re playing Wolves for Christ’s sake”.
C) the rest of the arrogant, deluded Spurs fans who think they are some special big time successful club.
D) Paul Merson
WE ARE WOLVES AND WE OUT-FOUGHT, OUT-THOUGHT AND OUT-PLAYED YOU!
As some will know I have a life-long hatred of Spurs so to be there yesterday and witness this stunning victory will live with me forever. To see and hear 3,000 Wolves fans own Wembley made me so proud too. We floated home afterwards!
OODCL
I figured you find this result pretty special Bedders. Pure euphoria.
And thanks once more for the other day.
Forgot the photo – me and BOG enjoying the post-match celebration (just a bit)!
Brilliant pic guys , looks like you enjoyed that one
Utw
I was sat in amongst the shite spurs fans Bedders, what a pleasure it was, when we scored the third gooooooal, I stood up and turned round and all I could see was a sea of smiling faces, Wolves fans every where the moment imprinted in my brain forever, what a day out.
Wish we could of bumped into you and Bog, that would have been icing on the christmas cake. A great New Year to one and all, not including Merson.
Have a great one Witley. Can it be better than 2018?
It’s only just begun, Stroker. Happy New Year?
It was an “I was there” moment.
AND I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!! Nuff said!
Energy was a factor yesterday at Wembley but that is not an excuse for Spurs it is a massive compliment again to the master tactician Lord Nuno.
The game lasts for 90 minutes, Christmas is a busy period and I thought everyone knew that Wembley is a big pitch.
Spurs have an excellent energetic midfield but Poccetino will know that in Moutinho we have arguably the best 60 minute midfield conductor in the prem. David Silva is a close competitor but we paid just 5 million for ours. I loved the scene at the end of the Fulham game when Ranieri hugged Moutinho, total mutual respect.
I am going to make sure I savour every minute of his remaining game time at Wolves, even with Fosun’s billions we may not see his like again. When you share the legend of this game in future years around the camp fire, remember he came on with an hour already gone.
He’s a wonderful player for sure, Jackomac, for whom the word ‘composure’ was created.
Moutinho is the Nijinsky of the Premier league, no doubt about it….
Happy 2019 to all bloggers….
Credit to Alan Shearer who once again gave us a glowing review on MOTD. Seven games so far against the ‘big six’ and only 2 defeats. Nine points , 2 wins and 3 draws. With three of the seven away and unbeaten at Arsenal Man Utd and of course Spurs. We fear no one. I recall Phil Neville on MOTD early in the season and to be fair he got it spot on when he said Wolves will go to the big clubs and play with no fear. May be Lawro and Merse will think twice in the future! Happy new year to all bloggers on this site. And to the chaps who keep it running. We all go in to 2019 on a real high after yesterday.
Took the dag for his morning shit just as I did yesterday morning only we drove a little bit out of our way to a little spurs stronghold not far from here
I just wished I knew where Paul Merson lives
Matt,
If you can find his house, I will send you a tenner if you get the dog to shit on his grass.
He’s a knob.
Aaahhh, he’s a lovely fellah.
Have a great New Year Matt. Coming up for Palace?
Happy new year to you too and the rest of you
See you for palace
I had a superb view of the match, just to the right of the goal where all 4 goals were scored, and just far enough back to be able to see the opposite penalty area pretty well.
Unfortunately, except for my 3 mates, I was surrounded by Spurs fans. Most were fine, quiet, disappointed and all left before the end.
Some were incandescent with rage, not, in most cases, with their team but with Wolves and Wolves fans. It was quite funny for the most part, except the “outing” by one old chap of a group who stood up when Boly equalised. That got pretty nasty.
We kept our heads down, applauded their attempts (really it was our tackles we were celebrating).
I really missed not being able to let go and celebrate until we were well away from our seats but it was the only way to get a ticket. And there was a certain satisfaction in sitting there quietly smug whilst heads around were exploding (metaphorically). Not sure I’d do it again though.
It was fairly empty around us with plenty of time left (7+ minutes) for them to fight back. I could NEVER leave my team like that.
Fantastic performance from Wolves and the fans who could sing and shout. I’m loving watching it again and again.
So my 2-2 prediction was wrong (correct in the total number of goals – can I get a point?) but I don’t care.
Brilliant! Outstanding! Amazing!
Just aren’t enough words to describe this team. I knew we wouldn’t let too many in but I honestly didn’t expect to win, not like that! I thought a draw.
Didn’t bother with MOTD but sky had the full match showing last night so watched that.
Everyone played the same amount of games over this period and no other beaten teams moaned of being tired – that I know of!
Thank you Wolves & Fosun for an amazing 2018. Roll on 2019.
Happy New Year to everyone & thanks again to Thomas, both Bens & all who keep this brilliant blog running.
Where did that come from. I predicted the correct score but the wrong way round. What do I know? Obviously not a lot. Went down the local in my wolves shirt last night to piss off the local shit and vile fans. Very enjoyable. Also enjoyed taking the piss out of my Leeds supporting newsagent this morning.
What a wonderful end to a wonderful 2018, I will even stop moaning about Traeore for a few days but I totally agree with the Doogooder about the fact that he will never become a permanent starter for the Wolves.
Thanks to Thomas & Ben for all their hard work on this blog and to Fosun and Nuno for all the joys they bring to us long suffering old fans.
Wish all bloggers a happy and prosperous new year.
Sensational, just sensational.
Feel a little foolish now after questioning Nuno’s tactics during that rocky spell; my god are we lucky to have him as our manager.
The most pleasing thing with yesterday is that we beat Spurs playing OUR way in the second half – we played them off the park.
And what about that little magician Moutinho? Completely bossed the game when he came on, whilst Neves was getting back to his best as well. Looked more assured in possession and played a lovely ball to Doc in the lead up to the third goal.
Beat Palace on Weds and we can have a right good go at 6th/7th.
So many things are falling into place for Wolves (and their fans). All the players performed magnificently and I am sure now that most of us will be happy with any combination Nuno puts out for any game. Good to see Dendoncker perform well on his league debut, as now we have such a good choice in midfield (Neves, Mautinho, Saiss, Dendo, MGW). I have high hopes that when we meet L’Pool in the cup, we have the confidence we have shown at Wembley and progress to the next round.
And how about our travelling fans !! 3,000 drowning out and out supporting 40,000 Spurs fans.
Only regret is that I did not have enough faith to tip a win.
How many managers would have had sufficient faith in their own ideas to leave out the two outstanding performers in the last game(Saiss and Moutinho) and even replace one of them with a debutant ? This was almost rope-a-dope stuff, allowing Spurs to punch themselves out then moving in for the kill. Its unfair to single out any player but special mentions must go to Dendoncker who had a solid, if unspectacular, start to his Wolves career – much more to come from him – and to Big Wily who, even before his towering goal, was defending like the human brick-wall we have grown to know and love. But every man-jack of them stood tall and did his job.
Don’t forget Doherty!!! What is that man made of? (premier is probably a walk in the park for him compared to the life in the Championship;=))) He starts every match and deliver again and again. His work rate is fantastic.
Trouble nowadays Karlir, is that we have so many heroes out there that you can’t keep mentioning them all. Did anyone have a bad game for the Old Gold?
True. There’s always room for improvement and I believe perhaps Jonny Otto’s attacking wing play could improve. I expect it to, since it almost always takes time for a player to return to pre-injury form after a long injury. Cav is another player which has been a bit inconsistent since he came back from injury – an important player Wolves because of his endproductivity (and both Cav and Costa have produced good performances lately). Consistency is perhaps the biggest challenge. We’re one of the teams which have conceded least goals – yet our goal difference are: 0
I truly believe we’ll score loads of goals in 2019.
Now the ‘gold’ dust has settled and the euphoria has diminished slightly ….wow
I went to the Fulham game and left a little disappointed with the opinion like many of us that we were going to face something of an uphill battle to take anything at Wembley
Watching the game on Saturday on one of the Internet sites (Dutch commentary) after the 1st half my initial fears of being overrun seemed to be realised
But even watching the game on an I pad resting against a dining chair you could palpably feel the boys and the fans cranking it up …..what support by the way absolutely feck in amazing
Great goals , great performance and as someone else commented what would happen if we played the 1st hour the way we played the last 1/2 hour?
Congratulations to the team, the support and the guys contributing to the blog
May I wish you’ all a happy and prosperous New Year
With Manure looking for a new permanent manager in the summer, attention is on Pochettino. On yesterday’s performance I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they switched to Nuno. He’s young, an inspirational and talented coach, plus he is a real gentleman. But, Nuno has a project at Wolves and we all know how ambitious that project is now. No, he won’t leave.
I think everyone on this site has said it all about yesterday, surely our greatest victory under Fosun. I had forecast 2-2 but when I saw the team sheet I put money on with BetVictor for a win at 13/2. Other fans got 9/1 elsewhere! What changed my mind about a draw was that Traore was selected to start, and rightfully, on the right wing. He wouldn’t get marked out of the match by five defenders as he was on that tight pitch at Fulham. I thought Traore could terrorise the Spurs defence in those wide open spaces at Wembley. In my view, he softened Spurs up, ran their legs off, and set us up for that magnificent second half.
I’ve heard many different candidates for MOTM, which is a great result in itself. My choice is Mountinho, but what the hell, give it to them all. Boly? What a player and what a goal.Costa? My player of the calendar year 2018. Jimenez? Sign this guy up permanently and what a cheeky nutmeg of a goal. And a big cheer for Costa who showed us that his form in the championship was not a mirage. That lovely one-on-one goal was pure Costa at his best.
Oops. What happened to the edit facility?
Coady is my player of the calendar year 2018, not Costa.
Defining moment of this league and reluctant acceptance by our critics that we are formidable.
What a result and who do we fear now?
Can’t get better than this…
Dances,
Very good point about Traore softening up / tiring Spurs defence.
I think he’s come in for undue criticism on the blog, especially given that he has largely played out of position. People have tended to notice his falling over rather than the free kicks, corners he wins. And, despite not always making the best decision, (but who does?) often contributes a telling pass, cross.
And I certainly don’t think he disrupts our normal way of playing…. It would be odd if one member of the team were able to do that. On the other hand, he does bring something different… And that is the ability to terrorise defences, a quality found in only a handful of players.
The frequently trotted out cliche that he will only ever be an impact sub was surely scotched yesterday by Nuno’s brave decision to start him yesterday and by the fine way in which he responded.
And for those suggesting we offload him ASAP, please remember the guy is only 22. Like so many of the squad, he has huge potential to develop further.
Nuno deserves enormous respect for the way he sticks with his players even when they are going through tough times. Look at the way Jota was coming good again before injury. And thankfully he’s never given up on Costa or Dendoncker fot that matter. The fact that the players respond to this belief in them, even when ‘rested’ is testimony to Nuno’s management expertise. There’s room for many different talents in this great Wolves team.
3 goals in 4 shots on target says it all. When we capitalize on our chances, we can beat anyone and everyone.
Hopefully, our wingers are getting their confidence and will continue to contribute to the scoreline.
Did you notice Nuno wouldn’t say anything nice about Costa’s first goal. He said it was 20 games into the season and he has to do better.
Yep, good goal, well taken. But he has to do that more often before he deserves accolades.
Do you remember a few years ago Wolves beat Shearer’s high flying Newcastle. So excited were we that T-shirts were printed in celebration. Now I suspect we take victories like yesterday s in our stride. OK we love it but we’re beginning to expect it.
After all Wolves ay we!
Just got home from an absolutely fabulous Wembley Weekend … a special thanks to Stu and Jenny, Ken and Carmen and Lady Twix for making it so…..
From the Magic of Motown theatre night, drinking in Leicester Square at midnight, pissing about on the tube (pissed up on the tube) at 01:45 on the morning to yesterday at Wembley……. OMG
Then the match …. the gladiators of Spurs and Wolves…. some prematch banter with a bang tidy lady Police Seargent on the Wembley concourse…. and into the stadium….. fookin Wolves fans everywhere…
First half ….solid, still in the game and an opportunity…. maybe to get something…..
Half time …. an our master of ceremonies tells us all that in 39 matches against newly promoted teams …SPURS HAVE NEVER LOST… QUITE SPECIFIC … 39 Matches … Won 36 and drawn 3…..
Well Bollox and Up Yours mate……
Second half and 3000 fans harmonised into one fabulous, powered and volumous…. NUNO SANTOS BARMY ARMY……
ON AND ON, LOUDER AND LOUDER…..
When, and following the introduction of Costa and Moutinho, the noise from the terraces was electric……
Boly, then Jimenez and finally Costa…….silenced the Cocky Spurs faithful…. so much so that their fans exited in droves…
TO THE very end WE WERE MAGNIFICENT……
Walking back down Wembley Way …. Fans singing ‘Nuno had a dream..’……omg
Don’t be kidded by pundits …. “we’re on our way back … we’re Wolverhampton we’re on our way back….”
Yesterday will live with me forever …
Meant to ask, Twix. Did you enjoy your day out??? 🙂
Cheers Steve…
Absolutely electric.. Wolves fans made a right old noise.
Talk about the 12 man…. this was a special and very deserving win against a team that weren’t fatigued… they were overpowered by a dominant Wolves’ 2nd half display….. and Joao Moutinho….absolute class.
A real marker to what FOSUN want to achieve .
In my 57 years of following Wolves, there has never been an experience like that. When Wolves stepped up a gear and us fans launched into, “Nuno Santo’s barmey army” everyone of the 3186 fans around me seemed to be singing in unison. I will never forget that moment. Magical…

Nuno is a tactical genius.
Spurs perform like a whirlwind, lots of pace and movement which peters out about the middle of the second half.
Nuno’s tactics to defend resolutely allowed Spurs only ONE touch in our penalty area, ONE world class goal and the threat of Adama for a breakaway kept them busy at the back.
Then the second half, back to normal possession play, bring on our best midfield player.
Wolves then played them off the park, no Spurs goal attempts and three magical goals.
At the beginning of the season I would never have hoped for a Manure slip up so that Wolves would be pushing for a top six position, wow!!!!
I guess most of us are too busy still celebrating to notice but West Ham’s loss to Burnley today ensured we will finish in seventh place at year-end. Seventh heaven. All I want now is a draw at Bournemouth v Manure. OK, I’ll take a Manure loss as well.
For the unlucky fans that missed out on the tickets and didn’t have the hesgoal link, here’s a little consolation…

Enjoy.:-)
Brilliant mate… captures a lot of yesterday….
Wow, what a result! I’ll never doubt this team again. The gods must be punishing me for my reverse 3-1 prediction because the DVR only recorded 2 mins of the match and crashed, so I got nothing to watch. If anyone has a link to a recording of the match, I’d be much obliged for the pointer!
Happy New Year to everyone and go Wolves!
Should be on Wolves site by now.
Watching the live stream yesterday, the Wolves fans were loud throughout the entire match. “Nuno had a dream” and “Nuno Santo’s barmy army” ringing out non stop.
Watching the highlights on MOTD, there was general background crowd noise and cheering when goals went in, but the chanting of our supporters was notable by its absence.
Do the Beeb ‘censor’ crowd noise in some way, or is it my imagination?
Yes they can do that, the technology was ramped up for the World Cup in South Africa to reduce the noise of the vuvuzela’s.
One of the best comments on the R5 commentary – Upson (I think) saying we had three chances and were clinical. CLINICAL!! Music to our ears after the concerns about taking our chances. And amidst all those naff pundits, Alan Shearer again said we were magnificent – not for the first time on MOTD. And Savage seemed to forget on 606 how he’d questioned whether any other team would have wanted Moutinho.
To Thomas, Ben & Rasmin. Thank you for all the work you put in to provide us with such a wonderful Blog Site.
Thanks to all who contribute from near and far with entertaining, amusing and interesting posts expressing your opinions, views and memories on all matters relating to WWFC.
You all make WOLVES BLOG compulsive reading.
I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year.
I’m not one for making New Year resolutions but I will make this exception. Particularly after getting my score prediction so wrong for the match against Spurs, I vow never to predict other than a Wolves victory for the rest of the season – I’ve learned my lesson.
Peaky,
I would wager that all teams below us today (13) would all jump at the opportunity to sign him!
£5m I think we paid & yesterday was worth £5.1m alone.
He obviously ooses class, but pair him with Ruben & MGW and it’s magical.
Still waiting to wake up from this dream.
And as for Savage, Lawro & Mersin long may they continue to diss us for we know best.
Forever Wolves
Happy New Year everyone and thanks for a great site.
2019 the year of the Wolf!
Still bloody smiling
Been monitoring and the Spurs forums. Apart from the very occasional bit of praise it is quite depressing how no one realises we actually made them look silly that last 30 mins. Contrast that to the ad hoc contributions from some Man City and Liverpool fans who took it on themselves to visit our blog and make some constructive comments. Must be summat to do with them miserable cockney wankers .
Like MOTD, spurs goal and then suddenly 20 minutes to go.
Most BBC viewers must have wondered what Alan Shearer was talking about when he praised the Wolves.
Hopefully Wolves will stay under the radar until we win the premier league in 2021 and the top 6 becomes a top 7.
Yes, they underestimate us; long may it continue and hopefully better odds at the bookies. But after Tottenham’s previous form, and us losing to Liverpool and only drawing at Craven Cottage, the pundits were likely to be fooled. We’re not giant killers, are we, we’re giants !
I listened via the wolves app and manged to see the full 90 mins as it was the match choice on Sky Sports at 8:30pm 🙂
I thought we could nick this and at 2-1 was boasting to my brother, daughter & grandchildren I had predicted a 2-1. Smug I was! It was even better when Costa added a 3rd, brilliant!
Second half display was truly excellent, Spurs had not a clue what to do or how to handle our game play. Well done Nuno for the excellent subs. Genius.
Fantastic result, so proud of my Wolves!
🙂
Happy new year all you crazy diamonds from the happy hour ( hours) in Bali
Utw
Just listening Talk Sport. Spurs were tired. Spurs were leggy.Spurs were complacent….. Yawn yawn yawn……
When you are outside the Premier League you think that the media just concentrates on the Premier League and that all the other leagues hardly exist. However, when you are in the premier you realise that all they are really interested in is the so called big 6 and if they ever get beat by anyone else its always what went wrong rather than giving the other team credit. I’ve noticed this time and time again. Apart from the odd exception, eg Shearer who after all told manure to f off when they wanted to sign him, the majority are absolute tossers!
Just watched the second half in it’s entirety again, and I don’t care how tired those poor little cockney lambs were, it has been the same number of games for everyone over the holiday period, and if you ain’t fit, blame your training/fitness/management staff.
Not a single shot, on or off target, by them in the second half, in large due to our fabulous defending, especially from Jimmy Nez.
That bloke didn’t stop running, chasing, tackling back, defending, and scored the go ahead goal.
A mighty performance from him, closely followed by the rest of the pack.
So, trot out all the pathetic excuses you want Pochy, your poor little lambs were led to the slaughter by the hungry Wolves, and like Chelski before you, we even gave you a goal start!
It has been a fabulous footballing year for us, long may it continue.
I will now take this opportunity to wish all fellow bloggers, friends, acquaintances, World Wide Wolves fans, all players and staff at The Mol, and Cheesy, a very Happy and Prosperous New Year from Texas.
It does seem to be an unhealthy trend that teams who aren’t established within the top six are generally overlooked by the London based media moguls.
As you say they all tend to try and find excuses as to why they lost rather than praise the underdog for getting their team selection, general play and tactics correct.
I’ve just read the times and the mail reports from Sunday and both make great references to the fact that spurs had had a tough Christmas and were tired.
Hardly a mention to how the wolves held them first half then took them apart in the 2nd.
Match of the day coverage was little better with every spurs attack shown and just the three wolves goals with virtually no other moments given air time.
Shearer to his credit did give us his usual praise but lineker and gollum dismissed it as an off day for spurs with the latter even declaring Kane didn’t dive and accusing shearer of saying that he only thought it was a dive because he wanted him banned for the Newcastle match.
Do we care ! Do we bollocks !
Sooner rather than later these one eyed idiots will be given no choice but to recognise the usurper within their ranks and then we may get to be a regular first on motd.
I just point out that the same thing happened when we played Spurs at home. Second half we scored 2 goals and could have scored more.
Asked if they were tired then, too.
Just refute their comments with logic and eventually the readers will realize the truth.
Seems like most commenters (at the bottom of the articles) really like Wolves and realize what a good team they are.
I’m 42 so can’t really remember 80 league cup win
We have had some brilliant cup wins over the years but I’m going to go as far as say that was probably the best win since I have supported wolves, the opposition, where it was and the way we played. So proud of them, let’s kick on in 2019
Let’s not forget how we got here, there are “Golden Moments” sprinkled everywhere since Nuno arrived.
Until Saturday, this was my favourite, it had to take something special to de-throne this moment, but Saturday at Wemberrrleee thise wonderful boys did it.
“I was there” & I will never forget it.
If as they have promised they add some “better” players to this squad, then it’s going to get scary as a Wolves fan.
Enjoy the moment…
https://mobile.twitter.com/wolves/status/1079767248477278209
… and the icing on the cake when Colin almost had an apoplexy, boy was he red in the face.
Still my favourite end to a match.
Oh dear. What if Nuno gets coach of the month?
I always liked Matt le tissue.

And we get 3 players in team of the week. Onwards & Upwards.
Spent a few memorable days with Stu and Twix and their lovely ladies in London taking in two first class west end shows and two first class matches, well the Tottenham game was better than first class, it was as good as Cardiff in 2003 for the euphoria at the end.
We have vegged out today I’ve had a few beers and a few glasses of wine so a couple more before switching out the lights and sitting in the conservatory to watch the midnight firework display.
A happy and point filled and above all a healthy new year to all bloggers
Love from
The Lowves

ps hope you are better Lillian
Cheers Ken and Carmen..
…she’s passed it onto me …!!
Bong! Big Ben rings out over Wembley.Bong! Poch looks around London. Bong! He identifies sleeping sickness amongst his players. Bong ! The Spurs doctor thinks the squad have been bitten by a rare infestation encouraged by the mild weather. It is the African Tse Tse fly which can induce lethargy. Something which Sandwell Town know all about. Week after week they flock to the aluminium shack in a desperate attempt to see some entertainment. All they get is Frank Skinner and Adrian Chile’s in bizarre Baggie Bird outfits dribbling incoherently in to their shit sandwell bitter.Hopelessly reminiscing about Sir Gary Megson and his hoofball. And the jolly good laugh when Colin Wanker got all his blokes sent off at Sheffield Utd. It’s fading away as we disappear in to the distance never to be seen again. Happy new year !
To our blogger friends and family all over the world from Lilian and myself…….
BEST WISHES AND GOOD HEALTH FOR 2019……
Love you all…..xx

Fabulous start to the New year as the masters of the universe draw 2-2 with QPR. Leaves them in need of 13 wins from 20 to get to the play offs. But being European cup winners in 1982 this will be a doddle. The Shit lose and realistically they may be looking at the play offs at best. Small Heath are well….Small Heath. Our nearest and dearest amass 2 points from 9 between them. Dream scenario is a Shit v Vile play off final and no one wins because there is a pungent stench coming from both sets of fans resulting in an infestation of flies causing Jack Grealish to fall over as they all gather in his socks. The match is abandoned and Shit/Vile are punished for having smelly fans and QPR are promoted instead. It is written in the stars….. probably.
Wolves sign 18 year old Right winger David Wang from Spanish team Jumilla, he goes straight out on loan to Sporting Lisbon.
One for our future…
Love this Spurs vlogger. Giving the Wolves lad the microphone.
A heart warming bit of film blood, innit!
