Last season a good friend of mine said to me ‘If Norwich aren’t relegated from the Premier League, it will make me question everything I know to be true about football.’

Fortunately for him no deep, internal repercussions were necessary as the Canaries fell at the last to keep the earth spinning on its axis.
I’ve been thinking a lot about that moment of honest self reflection this week with all that’s been going on at Molineux and Compton Park.
The bizarre appointment of Walter Zenga, the questionable signings and a general sense that this isn’t a blueprint for success are giving me a similar sensation.
None of it convinces.
This isn’t to say it can’t and won’t work, but everything I know to be true of football makes me think disaster lurks around the corner.

Success in the Championship relies on a deep knowledge and understanding of the league. We know that. Every single manager or player who’ve tasted it says the same.
There’s also empirical evidence that it’s nearly always the teams who pack either their squad or their dugout or preferably both with the necessary experience that triumph.
Look at Sean Dyche and Steve Bruce last year. Both veterans of this grueling contest. Aitor Karanka was a relative newcomer but he invested heavily in domestic talent and know-how to get over the line.
If the exception proves the rule, Watford are the shining light we look towards in the hope that our new model can work.
Their owners used connections to bring in previously unheard of names like Forestieri and Ighalo, chopped and changed their managers endlessly, yet still delivered success.
It can work. I just don’t think it’s the easiest path.
My hope was that Fosun’s investment would provide the clout to buy those proven Championship performers with a track record of doing the business.
Nugent, Foreshaw and Pritchard are three names mentioned and I’d be reassured if those players or alike were added to our more experimental signings to date.
It’s still very early of course, but if the early signs are to be considered an indication of what’s to come, I’ll either be questioning myself or the club by Christmas.

I think we ll be ok .. There’s a momentum gathering at wolves everything seems really positive .
We too knew that league and we too have done things that way in the past , but apart fom 3 years , we’ve spent a life time where we are. 18 years last time .
Come on ! This looks like it’s going to be a blast . They ll be no stopping us !
I agree totally, Steve Bruce would have been an excellent choice as Manager,
however he would have wanted to call the shots which would have not suited our new owners. We are just a pit stop for the Jorge Mendez unemployed.
Young players signed on loan from Benfica reserves with no aspirations is not the way forward. Fosun are not football people and like you I have a “Solbakken “feeling that suggests bottom three by Christmas and all change again.
I really hope I’m wrong as a supporter of over 50 years.
Yes a bit of a mixed bag but I’ll reserve judgement. Seems a bit scattergun really with the latest Icelandic World Cup hero added as a central striker.
Zenga, well anything can happen. The three from Benfica are reputed to be good players.
The expensive signing or would be signing Talsica is supposed to be the worst of the 4. Think it was Wolves 1st that had the views of a Benfica fan on our new guys.
I understand people’s concern but I also understand people’s excitement around the happenings at the Mol. We have hope this season, yes we have hope every season but the whirlwind that is moving through the Mol is exciting me. It has two outcomes – success or failure. Let’s get onboard for a wild ride.
It’s going to be anything but dull.
Im happier now we have signed this Iceland lad.
I was very upset with the sacking of KJ and appointing of WZ. However, after the WZ press conference I felt better.
Awful CV true but he spoke with passion and strength and I for one think he may be an inspired choice. Only time will tell..
At the moment it could go either way, a couple of real quality signings and the world is a different place…
– I was a bit puzzled by Zenga’s answer on philosophy :=): Fight for every ball until it’s out and until the game is finished (or something like that)! He didn’t comment on any aspects of his tactical approach. Solbakken’s press conference was much more convincing in that department.
– Who knows how long time it takes for the board to fire him if he get’s a bad start? Zenga’s challenge is huge.
I think he said ‘the ball is never out and the game never ends’. If Lee Naylor had adhered to that we would have picked up another two points away at Bolton in 2003 for a start. Do you remember : we were winning one nil with a few minutes left. The ball went out , Lee kindly collected it and gave the ball to a Bolton player who took a long throw before Lee had even re entered the pitch. They equalised from it and dropped two points. We were destined to not win an away game that season.
I am guessing what he means is we need to never relax and must give 100% every second of every game.
Doesn’t every manager want their players to do that?
I’m far more optimistic than you Thomas. I had no reservations about seeing off Kenny. Zenga may seem a bizarre appointment but so was the sacking of Nigel Pearson and the hiring of Claudio Ranieri at Leicester.
If the signings so far are not the dogged Championship players you favour, the names you mention are, but at the same time are not necessarily good enough for the PL (and they would cost a packet). Admittedly, Mendes is not familiar with Championship players, and Kenny is but a fat lot of good that did us. I’d be alarmed if we were signing the likes of McCormack for the £12 mil Fulham want for him.
We’re hardly a week into the new regime. Early days to be making judgements. Pele was clearly going to sign for us but retreated with a foot in plaster. I hope that wasn’t a crunch tackle from Conor Coady.
Steve Bruce and Sean Dyche deserve honourable mention but they are yo-yo coaches between the divisions. I would also call them percentage coaches as this is their brand of football. Karanka is a cut above them.. Zenga may be too.
After all the turmoil and change that has gone on in the past few days – is it only days, it seems like centuries – the truth is that we’re all still in limbo.
What has happened to our club?
Are we 100% behind the takeover?
Who is this Walter Zenga?
Is he the saviour of Wolves, the suave, sophisticated, brilliant tactician with the sexy foreign accent, ala Arsene Wenger, or is he just a Wally without a brolly, a bit of a clown with a poor grasp of English and not the first idea of how to run a schoolboys’ eleven let alone a club with Premier League aspirations.
…Like Dean Saunders.
And are the ace foreign players we are signing the new Ronaldos or Messies.
Or more like Alan Sugar’s old mate ‘Carlos Kickaball’.
Because we haven’t seen them perform or know their strengths and weaknesses we can’t judge how they are going to fare in the Championship.
You know that if you buy ‘one for the future’ from a non league club he’s most probably going to be rubbish.
We’ve been there and done that.
And they mostly were.
But now?
Until the season starts all we can do is ponder and give our varied opinions in our usual friendly and non confrontational way.
I haven’t got the faintest idea what will unfold over the next few months but I have copied Steve Showcases’ comment about betting his pub on us getting promoted so that I can wheel it out at the end of the season if it all goes tits up.
For now, what we all wished for has happened.
There are lots of old sayings that are warnings:-
“Beware of what you wish for…”
“Better the devil you know…”
“The grass is always greener…”
But I have a quote from one of the great writers of our time:-
“You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.”
That’s good enough for me.
Well I can’t get the smile off my face I have to admit , and I think a few other clubs will be more than a tad jelous atm , I do get where your coming from though Thomas , I would feel better if the next guy was Bamford or Andre grey but maybe it’s just the Unknown , either way I haven’t looked forward to a game as much for years , new players , team , formation , tactics etc. Utw
We have to give them time and our support, new sighnings seem to work full back-left wing-striker it is what we have wanted for a long time keep the faith lads.
SAKO??? Is he after a pension fund?? Grass was not as green as he thought
The 20 million player GET ON PLANE OR GET ON YOUR BIKE
zenga happy with what he has seen so far???
Ball watching defenders not picking up runners, we started 2-o down sat if it had been a better team we might have been 5-0!!.
WAKE UP WALTER we NEED defenders with a brain and eyes
Zenger lottery unlucky dip more chance of winning lottery than Zenger picking a winning team. He should be the one( rotated )OUT
SORRY LADS BUT HE AINT GOT A CLUE
Thomas,
You probably wrote this piece kid before today’s signing. Jon Dadi B is anything but a flaky signing. He will be good with Dicko, Mason, Zyro etc.
If Zenga doesn’t cut it, he will go the same way as Jackett, but quicker. Anyone who isn’t good enough will feel the weight of one of Jeff Shi’s Kung Fu kicks into touch.
I don’t know what’s going to happen, but it’ll be fun watching and finding out. I think we will do well in the end because Fosun want to make their investment pay.
The loyal fans like us can look forward to some entertainment and success.
It doesn’t have to end in tesrs, anything is possible, that’s what makes life and supporting Wolves worthwhile.
Am amazed at you being a doubting Thomas.
Goodness.
Let’s at least see how we do against Rotherham.
Disagree with the whole concept you are trying to portray.
Much prefer Zenga to Bruce.
Come on.
Let’s get into the 21st century.
I’ve been checking wolvesblog quite a few times a day waiting to hear what the good people on here think off all this. I agree with the blog. I, like others are concerned. Zengas appointment alone is enough to worry about let alone players with no championship experience. I also wanted bruce as there’s nobody better out there to get us out of this league. If we had put him in charge and financially backed him I’d be confident we’d be pushing for promotion. This is all either going to be amazing or its going to be complete failure, I don’t think there will be any middle ground. I really do want this to work and I’m very excited in many ways but very pessimistic at the same time. My prediction (before a balls been kicked) is zenga, with all his enthusiasm will be gone before Christmas. Hope I’m wrong
Something isn’t right. It just feels wrong, wrong, wrong. Like agreeing to a third date with a girl you know you’re not into. You just go along with it anyway because she kind of seems… okay in a weird way.
Wolves fans are born with the pessimism gene so I share your doubts Thomas. However, it’s far too early to worry too much, so I’m going along for the ride. I still feel bad for KJ though, I really hope his next club is a success and I shall be following them whoever they are.
Very early days yet in terms of signing British based players. We all know that most of them are over priced in normal circumstances but the fees will suddenly have gone a lot higher now that we are a ‘loadsamoney’ club. I think that we will get the balance right over the next 4 weeks but we will have to be patient while negotiations go on. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Greasy Weasel is still chipping away at some of the quoted prices – he’s not on gardening leave and I suspect that he is still the best negotiator at the club.
Roll on Saturday – breakfast in Wetherspoons then off up north!!!
OODCL
I’m not exactly ecstatic about Zenga but I think that the Championship being a league that requires deep-seated knowledge and experience to get out of is now an out-of-date truism. Watford, as mentioned, showed that other strategies can work; equally the likes of Derby and Fulham have proved that throwing big bucks at established British players doesn’t guarantee success either.
The Champo is becoming more and more like the PL every season, with increasing numbers of foreign players and managers all coming in to have a crack at it. Who’d have thought that a manager of the calibre of Benitez would be here when still at a decent point in his career? And the lesser-known likes of Carlos Carvalhal and Oscar Garcia have come in with no background in English football and done well for themselves.
This experiment with Zenga and Mendes could go horribly wrong for us, but that doesn’t mean a meat and potatoes boss like Bruce or Dyche is the best solution either.
All I can say is lets see what happens – I hear alot of skepticism from alot of fans but I have seen more positivity in a week than in 10 years. At least we have got new owners willing to try and make a difference , make us the club we once were . Zenga has a great personality and thats what our youthful team needs . Ill keep my opinions to myself and my fingers crossed . Even if fosuns stay is short and we were to go forward and win a cup in the next few years , I’d snatch your hand off for a taste of that success again .
The Zenga press conference really cheered me up.
I was down over the weekend at the thought that all was not as it should be. Then when i got home i watched the press conference and the video in full and was really impressed by Zenga.
Maybe he is only here for a year but I for one am looking forward to seeing what he can do.
Zenga brings the fun factor back to Wolves..
I am feeling reasonably optimistic but more out of hope than any rational logic. However my rational logic told me England were definitely going to beat Iceland and that Leicester were definitely going to be relegated the season before last. So perhaps a little bit of belief is not as ill conceived as some think.
When all is said and done Thomas I would have been somewhat underwhelmed if our brave new world had been heralded with the appointment of either Steve Bruce or Sean Dyche. We need to challenge ourselves rather than settle for another safe pair of hands.
I reckon by Christmas you will be eating your words with your Christmas pud.
I have reservations about all these signings we have never heard of but they are from benfica who are known for the youth system so they cant be as bad as some of the players we have wasted millions on in the past as for kj going and wz moving in well on that one no one knows but on the plus its new ideas and systems this could be a major factor in this tough league lets show them something new yeah ppl are raving on about Newcastle villa Norwich brighton
remember never kick a sleeping dog ( wolf )
come on wolves lets back the team and board and enjoy the ride
Agree with your concerns
I’d rather have had Bruce or Martinez and proven championship players but time will tell.
If Fosun are serious about promotion then results will quickly dictate the fate of Zenga anyway.
Fosun bought this club to make money. You don’t make money in the Championship (without parachute payments). Every decision they make and every £1 they spend is aimed at getting to the Premiership and, hopefully, into Europe so they can cash in. Last seasons squad were not good enough, it needs changing/strengthening and I’m happy that the players they are bringing in are filling some of the gaps everyone knows are there. I believe in Fosun and I applaud and fully embrace their work so far.
tThose who daré win.
I have to disagree Thomas, let the football do the talking and then we can all have a shout and a cheer or a shout and a moan. If KJ had been left with full control I suspect we would still be looking for our 1st new signing and frightened to death of getting slaughtered on Saturday. Anyway I am looking forward to Walters team selection for Saturday to give us more of a clue how all this lot are fitting together and for once I can honestly say I can’t wait for kick off.
Nice blog Thomas. I echo your feelings and those of several others on here. TFFT as I felt I was on my own. I’m just not sure – not sure about Zenga or some of the signings we have made. Even the Icelandic lad signed today – he’s struggled to score in the German second division. The others are mainly Benfica reserves. I’m a bit underwhelmed if I’m honest but don’t wish to appear negative. I wonder if we are going a bit over the top given what we had before the takeover. I’m sure it will be exciting after the turgid fare of last season but I would swap all that points on the board. As Kenneth would have siad, “Ten games in will tell us a lot”. I just hope this isn’t going to end in tears.
Jeff has the Power.
Let Fosun do what ever they like. So far they been excellent at making the right decisions. Fosun make about £20,000,000.00 a day. I think if it doesn’t work right off, it will within 3 years. They want to create the most powerful Wolfpack that has ever set foot in the world. Come on you Wolves, Jeff has the Power.
I’m a bit of a doubting Thomas as well at the moment, I have to say I was glad to see Kenny go as I think he’d taken us as far as he could (even with money to play with). Initially shocked and unimpressed with the appointment of WZ but I liked him at the press conference yesterday so I’m quite prepared to give him a chance. As for the new signings not overly impressed thus far, but it is certainly filling in some gaps in our paper thin squad. I shall reserve judgement until I’ve seen them play a few matches. Hoping for a mix of British based Chump players as well just to steady things down, but with Mendes running the show not sure we’re going to get any.
This is either going to be a very exciting season or a complete disaster, could go either way IMHO at the moment anyway. I shall fasten up my seatbelt, sit back and hopefully enjoy the ride!
I can’t believe any Wolves fan is anything other than excited and optimistic about what is happening at the moment. This is just the start of a fantastic journey. If we don’t go up this season, the world will still be spinning. We’ll go up next season instead. The alternative was perenially struggling to go up with an average manager and a mixed bag of players. Just enjoy the football, enjoy the goals, enjoy the wins when they come along, and enjoy the ride. You can start worrying and moaning later if it ain’t working.
Saturday’s drubbing was a fitting legacy of the old regime. An inadequate squad and a first team sadly lacking in experience, talent and creativity.
So now we have owners who are prepared to back up their ambition with a financial commitment. A year ago, we were all crying out for this level of investment, so let’s be thankful, strap ourselves in and enjoy the ride. It’s got to better than where we were; and you feel the new owners are just as keen to succeed as the fans are.
And we have just captured a striker who scored at the Euros.. for a million quid. Can’t be disappointed with that!!
Jayne, a complete disaster would be relegation. That isn’t going to happen.
I also really need to point out that we weren’t going up this season under Jackett and Morgan. We may not this season either but this is a completely different kettle of fish now.
Good blog. I am looking forward to the season more than for a while and it will be interesting to see how some of our younger players do alongside more technically gifted players. Worried that we have heard nothing about ourvright back since hex went off in the friendly. I have no idea what my expectations are… Know we will not be immediately challenging for promotion with the squad as it stands and would love to see an established striker to support Dicko and Mason. Worried that zen garden was about emotions and no mention of tactics but after our last three managers maybe that is what is needed. Delighted that rob Edwards and others are staying on with local experience… Shows respect.
Gosh there are two Robin’s on the blog now!
My ornithologist friend told me robins are very territorial and you won’t see two together. Just goes to show, in this summer of surprises.
Yeah, and we just got rid of another, although he spelt his name Robbin’
Excellent Clive!!!
Yes Wolfstroker….
You rarely see two Robins together!
Unless of course they are, as Clive says, Robbin’
I’ve been a rocking Robin and a rip-off Robin.
Even Robin the Head in a Keith Christmas song (anyone remember him?)
Maybe I will transmute into Robin Zenga for distinguishing purposes!!!
Like you Thomas I have my doubts about some of the goings on at the moment.
As many others have said my initial reaction to Zenga was WTTF?, but having watched the press conf I began to wonder if just maybe the guy would do OK. His motto appears to be basically “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings”. Can’t see him standing on the line with his arms folded in the last 5mins if someone is pissing about. The rollickings will be heard back on West Park let alone in the Billy Wright.
As for the players who knows? Untried and unproven we may think them to be, BUT would Mendes risk his business with Fosun to send us rubbish, I somehow doubt it. We may have some gems in there.
We are in for the ride of a lifetime I think, my original suggestion and prediction was that Zenga would be gone by December, now I am prepared to hedge my bets, and hope that I was wrong.
Life is going to be interesting it certainly ain’t going to be dull.
Failure will NOT be an option with Fosun, as someone sles said it will only take a Shi Kung Fu kick to get rid of anybody, player, manager or backroom staff who is not performing at 100% of the expected mark.
I would rather be in our position than most of the other clubs in the championship and I am not turning into a happy clapper.
Onwards & Upwards to the promised land (PL)
FoWB
If some of these new signings turn out to be average at worst then are they going to be any more average than what we ve already got ?
Totally agree Finsbury Park
I like many on here are cautiously optimistic. I had a look at the clips of Teixeira who has good balance, skilful on the ball and can put a tackle in. I know it is just showing his best bits but he can do things our current crop can’t e.g. play that killer pass and please don’t mention Macdonald!
I also like the fact that we have actually outbid another club (QPR) for once, to land Bodvarsson. His confidence will be high if nothing else.
The other Portuguese players ares ones that are on the fringes of a top European side, so they should be able to make a contribution.
However, l agree we need some Championship grit so hopefully we can attract the likes of Nugent and Forshaw from Boro.
At least we will now have some sort of team to face Rotherham.
I also agree that Jeff Shi made the right decision to sack Jackett, and no doubt Mendes was behind that. Jackett knows the management game, will get a nice pay off, take a few months off and be back with a decent Division 1 side. That’s how it is!!
Zenga, well who knows!
Just thinking what a good welcome for our new striker if we knocked the ‘ huh ‘ ( Iceland / Motherwell chant from the euros)
Change the hoooo to wolves and be the first to knick it !
What the hell! Its unlikely to be the enfeebled drivel of last season, without hope, without belief or a perceivable end to the vacuous life draining supernova which was the end of the Steve Morgan era…
I for one say hoorah for optimism and the un-chartered forthcoming saga that offers the glimmer of a golden sun over the horizon, instead of another grey day in the doldrums in the sea of sh!t!!
Well said, Mike. All doubters should take a leaf out of your book! 😉
Mike.
Well said buddy, obviously there are some on the blog who for one reason or another sadly cannot attend matches, they don’t see the 90 minutes of paint drying experience we have to endure.
I support your post 100%.
I think needs must.
We have been left in a position where we have to add numbers and quickly.
We can’t start buying tried and trusted Championship players within two weeks of a change of ownership. Those take time.
I think anyone who knows anything about football, Thomas, will share your concerns. Likewise anyone who has been a Wolves fan for the last ten years or more, with a few shining exceptions, will be relieved to be rid of the mediocrity and apathy.
KJ would have been , in my opinion, a safe pair of hands. Walt is the exact opposite. Relegation is as likely as promotion, except that if things seem to be going spectacularly wrong, our Walt will be clutching his P45 by christmas.
I feel that Mr Shi wants us to be living on the edge a little, as it will increase our appeal in his homeland, which is where his real profit will come from.
Ah well, que sera sera an all that. I have to admit to being enthralled to see how it’s all gonna turn out.
For the first time for a long time.
the time has come be afraid be very afraid the wolves are awakening
I would tend to agree with the reservations about installing anproven manager in charge in the championship but at the end of the day we should give him a go and get right behind him……it may work?!
Venga’s barmy army……….???
Clearly its going to take the new players and coach some time to bed-in and become a force, which I have little doubt we will do in time. What I don’t get is this love-in for Steve Bruce who doesn’t have a fantastic record and whose expensively-assembled team struggled to see off KJ’s depleted teams twice last season. As for the Forshaws and Nugents of this world – no thanks. I remember Fulham under Keegan – they went out and spent money on real quality to ensure promotion (Louis Saha anybody ?). We should be looking to do the same. In the meantime I’m happy to take Mendes’ youngsters on loan.
This springs to mind…
Yes, but look what happened to him!
If nothing else, the events over the last week will surely bring an end to the mid-table mediocrity type games we saw so many of last season. There was a lethargy throughout Molineux, so lets hope the ‘ new broom’ brings the life back into watching games at home because there was certainly something missing last year. Looking forward to the journey, whatever happens.
This is a revolution, not an evolution. Evolutions take months, years….
If Fosun And Shi want Premier League football in 2017, then a revolution is our only chance. As risky as it is, it’s exactly what I feel most of us were calling for just a month or so ago.
I can empathise with all of you feeling so anxious about the board signings, back room and player signings. It’s only natural we are apprehensive. Our beloved club is going through rapid change in weeks, and we simply don’t know how long it will take until we start seeing cohesion and results on the pitch. But I cannot help but feel excited about it all. I’m embracing every change with optimistic rose tinted glasses, it’s what I do best.
I hope. I pray. I dream.
Up the Wolves
If.
The biggest word in the English language.
If Morgan had invested, blah, blah, blah
If Moxey had agreed to wages of blah, blah, blah
If Jackett had picked so and so, substituted blah, blah, blah
If my Auntie had balls she would be my Uncle.
They didn’t, she don’t and she aint.
Get over it, and stop living in the “If” world.
Living in the past, regretting and wishful thinking is for the birds. (throstles!)
Get real, people, and start thinking of cups and championships and honours, coz that’s what is in our future.
No more inverse snobbery, complaining about being crap, and wallowing in self pity.
Lets start believing and expecting to win every match, as our new owners do.
Lets give all the new players and the old the warmest welcome we can.
A fuckin’ magical mystery tour starts in Rotherham on Saturday, and I am positive every single Wolves fan is going to be 100% behind whomsoever turns out in an old gold and black strip, cheer them on to hoarsedom, and scare the snot out of the opposition.
Bollocks to all the doubters, naysayers and worry warts, forget the past, its done and dusted.
The light that cometh is blinding in its intensity.
WOLVES AY WE,
and FO wb
Was Going to Comment but don’t think I’ll bother now..
As I cant top that.. Sums it all up..
Well Said Clive.
Having listened to what Ryan Mcnight spouted at the fans Parliament a few months ago theorising that fans shouldn’t have hope or expectation….. and then adding into the mix our chances of signing someone that wasn’t for the future or aged 17….. and adding also to the mix the stranglehold of a wage structure and limited purchasing power …without foregoing Moxeys huge disgusting salary …..
I’m buying into the new regime …lock, stock and two smokin barrels…. Bollox to the OLD ….bring in the NEW…..
Ha ha, very true Doog…don’t think Tony Daley’s capable of lobotomising anyone though.
I think it’s natural we’re cautious/sceptical. We’ve spent many hours/days/weeks lamenting false dawns and ruminating over potential solutions. This would not have been a scenario that any of us played out in our heads but it is an exciting time to be a Wolves fan. Don’t let the fear of failure ruin it in advance. Embrace the change. Enjoy football again. UTW.
Well said that man.
Hi fellows
Seeing things from a distance, I live in Greece, I dare say that enthusiasm and passion do not always work or at least up to some extent or until some time. Usually more things are needed on the part of a coach such as being systematic, well-prepared for each separate game, mastery during the game as well as having a quality backstage team, let alone successful treatment of each and every player. It’s a good thing to have been a star, the club will always hit the headlines with your deeds but this little counts if the results are poor. I’m convinced that the club should rely on British players mostly and there should be a blend of young talented and older but in good shape experienced players. Players who join on loan are a great risk as long as they know that there is always a safe place waiting for them, that is they have a contract somewhere else.
There is little proof that an excellent player will necessarily be a successful coach. A well-travelled coach may be a travelling freak who enjoys life to the full changing clubs and following a particular way of living as a cosmopolitan. Time will show. Let’s be optimistic and wish him luck!
Thanks for the chance and I apologise for being a little too formal but I just couldn’t help it.
Can’t disagree with you Wolfcat, but the point is, it’s a whole lot better than boredom.
Certainly yes. Being in the ground every week you feel the atmosphere better than me as I’m away and see only attendance and not the fans’ reaction. So I agree, action is preferable to boredom. especially when you aim high and the target is set in advance. Then you can do wonders!
Kenny jacket was employed to get us out of league one, mission accomplished, he was then tasked to get us up but when sako left and Dicko and Grahame got injured no money was made available for replacements.
Jeff shi has watched , listened to kj for a week and decided he is simply not good enough as his tactics showed last season,
Zenga has experience, has contacts, and will take no prisoners in the dressing room and has had advice from ranierri, and then with the additions of , Silvio, Costa, texiera, bodvarsson, and more will complement, price, dicko, jordan graham, henry, iorfa, hause, enobhakare, Ennis, and others, the future is bright, and this season will be exciting.
Faint heart never f&@?ed a fair maiden..yep we are going a bit kamikaze ..I would like to bring in a no 5 defender …if I say that any more I’ll be thrown off the blog but if we don’t concede then these new guys can tear into the attack (Brompton style)
I can see the new players going hell for leather because of faith in the manager and unfortunately our existing guys will have to fit in..
Dave Edwards looks at risk so dies price even Henry.. Wallace too..
Dicko will demand a place so will graham when he’s fit and then there is Innes of course ..it’s all a bit disjointed I know and risky – but let’s wait ..
It’s when or if we start loosing that’s when we need to insure a few results but of course we now have the resources to do so..
So it’s going to go like this..
1.We are going to steam it from the first match
2.we start drawing and Nick a win here and there
3. We win a lot at home and draw away (good strategy)
4.we start loosing and conceding shit loads (my biggest fear conceding)
5 we go mid table and creep in at the end
6 we buy players to add to graham and Dicko after Xmas and buy our way up..
I’ll go for 3 5 or 6..
I to have reservations I’m not overly impressed with the signings of players or manager. I’d of liked to go to the old experience of the knowing the league etc. Dicanio was full of passion etc got no where. And I’m pretty sure we signed harvard flo on the back of a world cup or euros and he was hardly prolific. I’d love to be totally wrong and have egg on my face as we storm the league I just can’t see it.
I’m happy and optimistic. Fosun have only been here a week. Give them chance and cut the bloody moaning!
I don’t think we are moaning. We are just expressing our opinions – which I thought was the purpose of this blog. I’m really pleased to hear that you are happy and optimistic. I sincerely hope your optimism is rewarded.
I certainly didn’t want anymore of the Morgan era which was boring and going nowhere. I’m excited by what is happening but am uncertain if it is a recipe for success – or at least promotion. So far I am not over impressed with the signings we have made given the boasts of £20M – £30M or more. that would be spent. Perhaps things will change. Perhaps these guys will fire us to the prem. I really hope that is the case. We will have a good idea after ten games. It will give you an indication as to whether your optimism or my caution is justified. That is not moaning – it is simply my opinion.
From being over the blue moon I now have the blues. Non of these signings shout quality, experience or even the pre-requisite fitness. Sure we are now buying/borrowing the designer labels of Benfica and Atletico Madrid but I think we are still sifting through the designer bargain rail where nothing fits, is from the 90’s or is actually a second. With billionaires running the gaffe I thought the days of endless ‘might work’ signings was behind us. WTF FSUN you sold me a dream but now I’m having nightmares!!!
Maybe we are getting the best who are available and will come and play for us.
Do you think everyone in the world wants to play in the Championship for Wolverhampton?
No more than Aston, Norwich, Newcastle, Brighton, Stoke or Smethwick for that matter.
I’m sorry but for a minute I thought Wolverhampton could now compete with these destinations. Like I say, we are buying from better brands but its only the bargain rail and its more in hope than expectation. That is the ‘internal truth’ at the moment.
ps sign Nugent and I will be happy!!!
There one big mistake has to be the manager.Sorry but it was a joke of an appointment. The fact that one of the reasons why he was chosen was his name gave me shudders.Makes me wonder how serious they are going up this season.Privately I think the 2017/18 one they are targetting.Bet they are already planning ahead for next manager.
Saying all that its great to get rid of the morgan era he was sucking the life out of the club.Moxey just had to much influence and you could smell the air of apathy at Molineux last season so whatever mistakes they have made its a positive for me this summer.
He came close to being a national team coach for a fairly decent team.\
Is that a joke?
I’ve been off this blog for a few months, and likely will continue to be more absent for a while due to the 12-16 hr working days I’ve been having to put in … all good. I read about so much change and so much concern. Understandable.
But here is how I see it. We were going nowhere as we were. Morgan showed he did not have the dough or the will to spend it to take us to the promised land. Thought it could be done by means of the academy alone, and basically undid all forward progress and took us back to the same level as Mark McGhee.
Now we have a chance. Change is good. I cannot say I agree with all the decisions so far, but neither do I agree with most of the alternatives either. Zenga would not have been my choice. But it would have also been a grave mistake to leave Jackett in charge. His time was done and he was never that capable. He would never have earned the respect of top flight professionals. I don’t agree with Steve Bruce either. He’s just another Mick McCarthy. Championship promotion dude then hits a brick wall. We needed better. Someone who has good EPL experience and can command an EPL level team. For me the man would have been Martinez. But it’s moot now.
Zenga is interesting. Let’s see what he can do. If he turns out to be another Solbaken, he’ll be gone by Xmas. But at least now we have an owner who is ambitious and will look for someone even better. Shi will make mistakes. He is new to this. Let’s give it all a chance. I’m not sure we are on the right path yet either. But I am certain we were on the wrong one before.
At least now I am looking forward to the season. It will be interesting to find out where it goes. I know where the previous lot were going, and it wasn’t up!
OK, Walter, show us what you can do!
Go Wolves!
Glass half empty Thomas ?
Love the DOOGooder’s piece !!
It’s absolutely fabulous to see so much activity on the BLOG ( and the transfer market ! ).
Recent events have generated loads of interest ! Brilliant !! Many of us worried about the future direction of the club, others positively bubbling over with optimism, whilst some are saying let’s wait and see how this goes ………
And the fact is none of us know.
No one, including Fosun, Jeff Shi or Walter Zenga have a Scooby Doo how this is going to turn out.
But let’s not make up our minds before a ball has been kicked, or indeed after the first game, or 5th game. Let’s see how things develop before making too many judgements or reaching too many conclusions.
Wolves is very important to us as supporters and we quite rightly care deeply and passionately about the clubs welfare but first and foremost a lot of employees make their living from the club.
For me, as long as those guys are OK, my sentiments are :-
Life is short.
Life is for living.
This leaning over the edge of precipice, looking into the unknown, heart hammering in your chest, palms sweaty, rapid breaths – this confirms your alive.
It has to be an improvement on recent times.
Let’s enjoy it and be positive !!
UTW !
I agree. I read a lot of concern about getting Benfica rejects … seriously?! Would everyone rather we get them from Huddersfield again? This is exciting. We are now getting international level players. We now have a coach that has played internationally with one of the best footballing nations in the world; would we rather go back to a coach whose only footballing achievement was playing for Watford? Would we rather go back to an owner who wasn’t interested in investing in good players?
This is exciting!
GW
Feet on the ground head in the clouds. That’s us.
What will the team look like. If all the new guys play then (I don’t expect anyone to agree) it may look something like this.
Ikeme
Iorfa, Batth, House, SILVIO
Price, Coady
Henry, TEXAS, COSTA
BODVARSON
Not really sure exactly where new guys will play and may get TALISCA yet.
Also name another manager in the football league who’s shagged Madonna !
Not you PULIS you back end of the bus ugly Albion bastard
Now I don’t like him.
Did you mean Maradonna ?
Well he may be able to explain the coke in the restaurant .
Our boy s a nutter !
Fantastic
We were all crying out for change and now we have it by the bucketload. I was dreading the coming season but am now looking forward to it.
Saturday showed how much we were down to the bare bones, so I’m pleased to have the reinforcements. It will take some time for them to gel, but hopefully they will. Both they and WZ will need our full support.
Jump on board and enjoy the ride. It is going to be a roller coaster!
N
PS: Pity we are not on Sky for a while, but perhaps that is not such a bad thing as the team has a chance to develop without being on full show.
I’m definitely taking the positives from Fosun.
I can’t see how a billion pound company can not have a clear strategy in place. Ok zenga was not first choice that is obvious but he gets my full backing for what it’s worth.
The zenga boys are coming!
Very surprised a the negativity, we haven’t even kicked a competitive ball yet.
Every player was “an unknown” to begin with, had you heard of bakary sako when he was 20 years old, who knew who jamie vardy was 8 years ago. We’re certainly signing players in volume and until today’s signing they were all on short term deals and low risk (pick the ones that work move the rest on/terminate the loan) These guys are going to be hungry for a chance in English football, mendes will have sold them this as a springboard to the premiership (with or without Wolves) they will be looking to prove themselves.
As for today’s signing, he’s a guy that we may have signed anyway, he performed well for iceland in the euros and players often head for england after a performing well in a major championships. I could have seen kenny or Mick mccarthy signing him.
As for zenga, the looks like a hard task master in private, but will defend his players to the media. “I have the best players in the world quote” says it all.
We saw hard work achieve a lot last year in the prem!
The first thing I want to see as a fan is my team working as hard as they can every week, hopefully that’s what zengas team will do!
Hopefully good times to come!!
Based on what I have seen and heard over the past week we will be more or less relegated by the end of 2016. I have the same feeling as when Solbaken took over. You simply cannot play lip service to friends by signing dross. We expected proven performers a la Sir Jack and Jones with Blake Sturridge Ince Rae Irwin Miller etc etc. These boys will be overwhelmed and drag down the few with potential left. Hope I am wrong.
My excitement is based on the belief that Jeff Shi and Walter Zenga couldn’t be more different from Morgan and Solbakken if they tried. I hope I’m right!
great to read such positive and enthusiastic feelings. we’ll be entertained every week with new signings, old favourites coming back from injury, some of the old squad on their way, never a dull moment. entertainment for sure, and won’t be difficult to achieve much better results than last season.
Sounds like I am in a minority but I am massively excited by the past couple of weeks. Everything I had yearned for is coming true. Sure I don’t expect it all to slip into place immediately necessarily but we are at least doing something, signing players, getting press coverage, being exciting. After the dire Morgan and Moxey years when apathy ruled we at last have something to look forward to. After all without hope or dreams or ambition what is the point? Without those things you might as well be a Sandwell Shadow Dweller plodding along going nowhere and merely existing. We don’t want to merely exist we want to live!
My bet on us getting promoted – which I made in late May by the way – is looking good. We WILL go up this season. We WILL rejoin the so called big boys. Another year of mid table Championship mediocrity and we’d have been buggered – cast adrift, too far behind, no chance of ever reclaiming former glories. Money rules. The Premier League, much as I hate it, is where the money is and if you are not in it you are nothing, nowhere.
Am off to that Liverpool tomorrow for my eldest son’s wedding on Thursday. Steve Bull is coming to the evening reception (for a fee!) as a suprise for my son and looking forward to chatting with him about Fosun and the likes. Will post a picture of him on here – as long as I am still sober enough!
Out of darkness cometh ……..THE WOLVES!
Can’t wait to see the selfie Bedford…..
I’m in total agreement with your euphoria…… at the bloggers ball this year I made a plea (or wish) …. manyana man ….like a great Christmas ….I got pretty well everything I asked for …..
Alright la, calm down, calm down.
Sorry just practising my Scouse for the next few days.
Sign on,
Sign on,
With a pen in your hand,
Coz you’ll never work again.
Imagine if we sign Talisca before the weekend – me in that Liverpool and us signing someone they wanted to sign? Magic.
Actually the new in laws are all Evertonians and the bride’s father is even called William (Bill) after William ‘Dixie’ Dean.
Agree totally Bedford.
We’ve been waiting for a revolution.
Now it is here and some are saying ‘hold on’…
Come on, let’s enjoy the ride…..
Well we have tried the ‘British’ way and experienced the Premier League in 4 of 32 seasons despite millions inveated in ‘good’ players. Embrace the revolutuon it may not be perfect and there will be ups and downs. But fuck sake. Fosun are here for a reason. The premier league. There will be no other goal. Perhaps a CHINA/PORTUGAL/ITALY/ICELAND phrase book will be in order. Further complicated by the Black Country interpretation. Lovin every minute and fascinated how things develop as we go. FWAW.
Zenger is the coach so whatever we think of him he’s here to do a job,so let’s be positive and get behind him.
I’m sure if its not going to Fosuns plans come Christmas, hell I be gone, let’s give him a chance you never know it could be something special.UTW.
How the hell does Coady still get a game,Jim? You may have missed out one or two new players the way things are going. Oh, I see you have a new centre half called House (known as ” brick shit” to his mates!).
I can’t wait and still 28 shopping days till the end of the transfer window.
Let the good times roll.
Blog tells its own story we are buzzin. Its like coming out of a coma. I can just imagine Jeff thinking WTF. Gamble but after last seasons near Death Experience whats to lose. London what time you North Bank Bar for your swift half bollocks.
If we are bottom early on he needs to be f___ed off promptly I belueve this is inevitable. I see the eligible squad as lacking pace in attack and resolution in defence. We will not score many and concede a few or a lot depending on organisation of the coach. We have bever gone into a season in such bad shape in the second tier since Tommy Docherty had us down in no time. I hated him that I met him at a Sporting Dinner abd he took the piss. Hope I am proved badly wrong though but I only comment when I see it going badly wrong. When Mick put the 2008 team together I thought we had a grear chance but did not see the run after Xmas come with Jones when we won The Play Pff on Cardiff. In short they need an advusor and to throw a bucket load of moneu at it. It is the blind leading no one at the moment. They are being fleeced by this agent. Need to be more savy.Jez is demob happy and paying lip servuce.
Think as a Wolves fan you owe it to the new owners to give it a chance.
Lets not forget it was the overpaid players who thought they were better than what they were that Mad Mick and Moxey signed that got Solbaken the sack.. and in turn M&M’s decisions that got us relegated to League one… Nothing to do with Solbaken they just refused to play his way..
Short Memories…
Can’t see that happening under this ownership and this manager.
Fair play to Kenny to get us out of league one in style… to be honest me and you could have done that.
Jackett out of his league last season and used injuries and lack of investment as an excuse..
Lets move on..
The most exciting time in Wolves History for many a year..
If Zenga doesn’t do it he will soon be gone and another man will be found until we do.
This is because the new owners have the ambition to do it. Unlike the previous ownership.
Mendes is the most powerful man in football ! Google it..
Give them a chance.
Onwards and upwards.
It’s true the treacherous players weren’t able to play the type of football Stale Solbakken was asking for. He could have done well if the players had had the footballing skills to play the way he was asking.
Jez will be gone before the weekend.
Jeff Shi’s face said it all when Moxey deflected the why did you sack Kenny question to a surprised Jeff Shi.
“Dead man Walking”
I can’t see there was much else Jez could do Stu. After all, it wasn’t him that sacked Kenny. It was Jeff Shi.
See even the negative is positive bloggers who couldnt be bothered to blog all last season are finding a voice all good.
Bring it on!!!! Time needed to settle. Never been online so much in my entire life with the most used tap/click being the refresh button. Pure excitement regarding the only football club that is in my heart. Not felt like this since the days of sir jack, and the days of Steve Bull & Andy Mutch partnership. Bring it on and on and on!!!!!!!!!!! Love you WFC
You can’t compare the Docherty era to now. Fuck off. Fosun are worth 8 billion quid. I had more money in my pocket money than the fuckin Bhattis. They wouldn’t turn the floodlights on till 4pm in mid december to save 30p. Thank god wolvo council/the gallaghers saved us from extinction in 86.
Graham turner and just highlighting the bull & Mutch partnership as a highlight the way they played and terrorised defenders.
Fosun assets are a lot more than 8 billion
Never was the city’s motto more appropriate; there really is light coming out of the darkness of last season
Nev, Fosun has an extremely high debt to earnings ratio so they are not necessarily as rich as you think. The good news is that the acquisition of WWFC is very small fry compared to the deals they normally get involved with so,as long as Jeff is seen to perform, his bosses in China will hopefully be prepared to get out the cheque book. As others have said, their goal is clearly the premier league and,if that is realised quickly,£45 million or whatever the actual price was, will look a pretty sound investment.
I do not think so.
I have a close friend who does Interior design work in India and China.
Believe me, £100m is small change in Jeff Shi’s pocket.
Anyone doubting their liquidity, stop worrying.
For The People who still Doubt…
Read this Article and understand this guy is pulling all the strings..
Jeff’s best mate is the Main Man..
Have faith.. Jeff can afford him..
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3608589/Jorge-Mendes-super-agent-centre-Jose-Mourinho-s-Manchester-United-move.html
Without Fosun we would have been 100% relegated this season.
Morgan & Moxey have gone thank God, I’m confident that Fosun will get it right, they ain’t even started yet give them a chance.
Sure it might take a month for the new players to gel but for once we don’t have to accept mediocrity from players or a manager because we know the smiling assassin Big Jeff won’t hesitate to pull that trigger.
Wolves forever.
It’s not just the pl but also as we are all aware of the branding. They are the two big earners for this investment company. Their asset value is well big SP ??
I choose to embrace the new regime. It’s still better than the boring old. What happened in the last 2-3 weeks is unprecedented for wolves and we should expect more. Exciting times.
I go to Jeff’s Golden Palace for kne reason only, to be entertained, to watch football of a standard that I can get on the bus at 4.55 on a Saturday feeling elated at some of the skills I have witnessed.
For the last two seasons that has just not happened, albeit the odd game produced the goods, but slowly and painfully that became less and less as KJj ran out of ideas over the latter end of last season.
As the Eagles Put it, “There’s a New Kid in Town”
Fosun are here, they have bought into Wolverhampton big style, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, they are taking no prisoners and anyone who thinks Moxey is getting off lightly, then they need to think again. He is the preverbal “Dead man walking”. No way on God’s earth did Jeff Shi want him to stay, we have witnessed paper talk, football speak and to save face for the slimy geaseball
IMHO, He Will be gone by the weekend, he did what the greasy twat that he is does so well and dropped Jeff Shi right up to his neck in it. He deflected the “Why back KJ on Monday only to sack him Friday” question squarely on an obviously deeply embarrassed Jeff Shi’s lap.
Again IMHO, I think once the dust has settled and the feet are squarely under the table in the English style of footy, we shall see that useless lump, Thelwell go too, Tony Daley will be the only one to survive the chop as he was a freind of Zenga somewhere down the line. So all in all there will be a clean Broom sweeping the halls of the Golden Palace and long overdue it is too.
I am delighted with it all, I don’t give a flying fettle if Zenga fecks up, Jeff will weild his sword and he will ge gone, if Memdes as big a name as he is, tries to put one over on Jeff by dumping crap at our door, then again the sword will fall.
In the last two weeks, I have had more entertainment than in the last two brain numbing seasons with KJ, and before some of you try to tell me we came close our first season back in the Chumpionship forget it, I was there every game home and away and it’s just not true. We were the luckiest team in the league, scraping 1-0 games by the skin of our teeth getting turned over by the likes of Bristol City and Listening to KJ tell us how rosy the garden was. So bring it on, lets get back to winning ways and seeing good goals and quality footy, if these Portuguese p, Icelandics and Italians are only half as good as their fellow Countrymen, then they will be ten times better than the Coady’s, Savilles, Rowes and a million times better than Sagbo and Leon Clarkes of this team of ours.
I for one don’t want a safe pair of hands, if I wanted to be feckin bored I would stay at home and watch Coronation Street or Eastenders. Let’s roll the dice, I’m excited and by the look of the ticket sales so are many others. STH’s have jumped up dramatically in tne last week, and with every new name added to the list of incoming players, another blogger tells us how he or she have renewed theirs. We’ve sold out of 2500 for Rotherham, I bet there’s 25000 for the Reading game and we are allocated 4000 for Huddersfield I will put money on us selling that out too.
Happy days are back, there’s more optimism than pessimism about the palace, if we get Talisca then we will give out a scary message to the Chumpionship, hey we mean business.
Bring it on I say, Iv’e had enough shit football to last me a lifetime. I want better days ahead. That’s what I want and I think we are going to get it.
If you want to see the stars, you’ve got to stop looking in the gutter.
COMBambinos.
Exactly how I feel Stuwolf ; the entertainment is already top class, and what if we lose some matches over the first few weeks, we’ll love seeing it all develop, and have so much more interesting match reports and post match interviews. Who could ever want to endure any more of what we had last season.
Bring it on – actually it’s already on, even without playing, being a Wolves fan is rewarding !
Spot on Stu.
Taking the Eagles link a little further – “Life in the Fast Lane”!
UTW!
Great blog and great comments everyone.
There seems to be valid reasoning made for why this could work and why it may not work. We wont have to wait long to find out, I’m looking forward to it and lets face it, we watch football to be entertained.
A quick comment on Fosun and finances, I was initially a bit concerned that the manager and the first three players signed were all on 1 year contracts, I was worried we were being set up to be flipped when promoted. But thinking about it the purchase price of £30-40m is small fry to Fosun, I watched an interview yesterday on Bloomberg with the Chairman, they will be selling assets to improve their investment rating and the figure mentioned was 8 billion. I’m hoping they are in this for the long term.
I’ve just read the Mendes story via here and elsewhere..my God the bloke has influence..and he is intrinsically linked to us for a long time.
I said a long time.. and that’s through Fosun..They, are with us for a long time as they specialise in investment. They are good at it and they are growing. What an insurance.
Zenga will be a messiah if he gets us up but my point is it could be anyone because of the (business) aim too to reach the PL which I can see we will do one way or the other…
The ground is destined to be revamped (it so far) to remain as
Molineux and the future into the PL is destined too..
This season as important as it is to us is not the be all and end all (although I’d be disappointed if we don’t do it first time) it’s the club ..we are definitely back and now with huge resources ..
Back to Mendes ..he’s playing at it with our new players they are not marquee signings (the Icelandic guy is a great signing) but just you wait when we get to the PL when we go again,… I bet all that £180M will be spent on players..
His reputation is staked on these new players ..incidentally if they bomb guessed what happens ..We buy some more!!
How much better than this do we want or need?..
This is still a life time experience certainly for me our beloved Wolves although early days in the current new regime has arrived not only here but also on the other side of the world too where only Man Utd dare to mkt themselves..Our potential shirt sales one day could cover the club sale cost!
Wolves are not only being elevated ..but potentially transformed back into one of the greats again….
Great rant Stu.You’ve said it all. Hope you didn’t burn too much midnight oil!
You know what it’s like, youv’e got summit sticking in your craw and you can’t settle till youv’e said it.
Plus, I don’t sleep well anyway, guilty conscience and all that.
Brilliant stu !
Col .. Hour before ko .. And anyone else who wants to say hello !
The more I read about talisca the more I think they should jog that deal on
Good blog Thomas and I for one agree with what you are saying. We were definitely in need of new owners in order to move forwards but so far Fosun and Jeff are making me a little nervous.
Jeff clearly doesn’t know how to run a football club. If things are going to be so successful then why has Moxey jumped ship. We need a proper CEO who has experience of running an English club. I don’t like the influence Mendes seems to have. Our new manager has a really poor track record. Our new players have no idea what English football is like.
It would defy all the laws of football logic if we have a successful season. I really hope I’m wrong but all I can see at the moment is another season of struggling.
I really hope I’m wrong.

Surely not ?!!
Hope so and my names not Shirley.
I hope for the best but expect the worst. As someone said in earlier post this gives a Solbakken deja vue feeling. The players he signed were (in retrospect) very expensive unknown & unproven yet sounded exciting at the time. Only Sako came through. Solbakken was quickly proven to be clueless.Moxey looked bewildered by the nonsense he was witnessing. No doubt he realised the writing was on the wall and bailed out for Norwich. Why otherwise would he leave Wolves for Norwich?
He was kicked out and he is just staying to get his severance package. He is hoping to piss Shi off enough so that Jeff tells him to just leave.
“Last season a good friend of mine said to me ‘If Norwich aren’t relegated from the Premier League, it will make me question everything I know to be true about football.”
Thomas, I presume your good friend was commenting at the start of last season? If that’s what he felt about Norwich, what in hell would he have thought if someone said, Leicester won’t be relegated, they will win the title instead!
In other words, not everything we know to be true about football will come true. Like StuWolf and other perceptive folk above, sod what’s supposed to be true, we have an exciting new owner and an exciting new head coach in Zenga. Forget what’s supposed to happen, Leicester didn’t give a toss did they? They played with gusto the whole season, rather like we used to in the 1950s. If Zenga doesn’t work out he will be replaced. If we moan that we haven’t a head coach and players with experience of the championship, we will talk ourselves into relegation, or rather we would if the Jackett-Moxey-Morgan philosophy was still in place. Thankfully we are thinking outside the box.
I agree Thomas but the one difference between the new owners and the previously owner is they won’t turn there back on the club if it doesn’t work failure is not in there DNA they will just rip up that plan and go with another one.
The new owners are either going to find out the hard way what it takes to get out of this League or they might just rip up the form book and pull it off.
They have invested a lot of money in buying Wolves even by there standards its still a lot of money and I have a couple of Chinese friends and they say these people will not stop until the succeed its bred into them………Failure is not an option.
Come on Thomas!
Get the Prediction League Forecast thingy going!
Cor wait until Saturday!
I’m gonna be right more often than not this season!
And while you’re at it, change the big photo, and get the writing the correct way round this time!
Rotherham 1 Wolves 5, in case anyone is wondering about my crystal ball watchings.
FOwb
Icelandic clap def coming you could say we are winding up…so is this Talisca fella by the sound of it..
Icelandic clap Steve? Sounds painful.
Just read that Rotherham have only 1000 tickets left for Saturday. We have sold all ours so it has the potential to be tbe first full house of the season away from home.
Bring it on…..
Is there any news on Nouha Dicko? How far is he away from full fitness?
I think they were looking at the end of the month Barry, if all goes well.
Villa have 12m bid accepted from McCormack – good to see Mr Xia is walking the walk, lets hope we can also show we mean business.
Wolf fondler ..is a form of super advanced chlamydia..
Chlamydia eh. They reckon that’s very itchy.
Super
Advanced
Chlamydia
Itchy SAC.
Scraping the barrel now.
Two snippets…..
Wolves are on 14000 Season tickets sold and climbing fast.
Talisca has been given approval by Benfica to talk to us not Liverpool. ( ain’t got a clue what that means but that’s the message)
No new signings today.. BOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I’m going for a 2-1 win to the Wolves against Rotherham. A scrappy game but with the new boys providing a couple of moments of quality to edge it. Bit nervous about our defence but, as it stands, the back line are pretty much the same.
COME ON YOU WANDERERS!!!
Well, I have my own thoughts on the big match Kford, but I’m gonna save them for the preview blog, otherwise we’ll have nothing to discuss. 🙂
I understand mate but I couldn’t wait!! 😀
I know. It’s absolute bloody torment waiting for the big kick-off.
Just stay calm and have a pint of Banks’. 🙂
Well, I work for Marstons so having a pint of Banks’s would be very loyal of me as well as a damn good idea 🙂
Are you allowed to share samples (or 24packs) with your mates?
He must get staff discount, at least.
I certainly get a staff discount.
I just ain’t got any mates 😀
You have now good buddy ….Wolfstroker and me mate…..

London, for fuck’s sake, how many times have we got to reprimand you for swearing on the blog.
It is a family show and you just cannot use the word A…….
the polite name is the shit.
manners, dear boy, manners and decorum at all times.
London that was one of your best llol
Lots of nervous banter here is it something to do with buying half a team ..just give me a no5…
I’m not nervous either. Can’t see promotion happening this season though. New players will need to gel, understand ofhers style of play etc. This season will be a season of consolidation and when we are fully established we will kick ass next season, be promoted as champions and then remain in the Prem for ever. Long term we will compete for Prem League title and be regular participants in the Champions League. All that without a new No 5.
I am not worried about our defence, I am not worried if we concede. I would rather have 3 losses and 2 wins than 5 draws.
Getting excited now. Come on you Wolves.
I’m not nervous . I think we’re going to romp it !
Sorry about the A word
The reason that most teams in this division prefer English players or players with experience in the Championship is because most teams don’t bring in European players and managers of high enough quality to try to win the Championship.
Good European football beats good Championship style football or they would be playing Championship style football at the top of the Premier League using only English players or those who have a lot of experience in English football.
Many teams play a lot of games in both their league and the Champions’ League so it is not any more grueling than that.
Alberto no less?..Wolves top 6 ..3-1 top half finish 4-9 ..good £90k bet Clive..
We really need a creative midfielder to replace McDonald. Price, Coady and Evans are not that type of player.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is available, he could wear the captains armband and command the middle ground where we lack any sense of controlling a game. And he can pass to our own team, tackle and has a good head.
I would take him in a heartbeat, he would do an Ince, Emlyn, Irwin, Alex Rae job for us, he’s still got a couple of years left in those legs.
I expect to see, some more names today,
Luis Alberto
Anderson Tulisca
Junior Hoilett
The deadline for AC Milan passed yesterday, Fosun are going in for them with a new bid, £440 million apparently, don’t you just love that worm Bellysconni
Not a bad idea, Stuwolf, not bad at all.
There is life in that old noggin of yours after all!
Always rated him, and why not go for Mertersacker as well.
Bit slow but good in the air and could be a better defense organizer that DB
The buzz around my Molineux shrine in Downtown Houston is unbearable

Jez Moxey butted in saying Kenny had a job and would be part of new path at first press conference. Jeff had no option but to agree at this time, Jez was out of order. At second press conference when Jez passed over question to Jeff, well. Jez should have answered question saying he had at last press conference, stated Kenny had a job for the future without discussing this first with the owners, apologised to Jeff for putting him in such a position. Admitted that he had spoken out of turn, that he did not have Jeff’s authority to make such a statement. But Jez doesn’t work like that. He has not a clue, and would not last for 5 minutes in any other business than CE of a football club.
Jeff has the Power. (Not Jez any more thank god).
Latest speculation includes David Nugent and a certain Peter Crouch. Either one, I’m sure, could do a good job for us in the Championship, but I’ve had enough of speculation. 48 hours without a signing. I want action. Now. Otherwise I’ll start to worry again. 🙁

According to the Wikepedia site I just looked at, in 2012 he made 104 appearances for the Senegalise Olympic team, and between 2012 and 2014 he made 500 appearances for the National team.
must be pretty good, eh??!!
Must be pretty much worn out I would think.
Should be fit enough for the championship then
Bodvarsson is too much of a tongue twister, I think we should refer to him as ‘big dadi’ from now on
As a WOLVES fan this may not be received well but after last nights match i think messers IORFA and HAWES need a rest because they ball watch or nod off, players left on their own unmarked while the above stand watching the ball and not the opposition getting into scoring positions behind them Sorry Wolves fans but it happens match after match. Midfielders on the left and right who was to blame for the cam goal messers I and H
