Some of you might recall that at this exact time last season, we all registered our predictions for how many points we thought Wolves would get from their remaining 12 fixtures.
I skillfully managed to get pretty much every result wrong, yet still somehow came within a single point of correctly guessing how many we’d end up with (I said 39 and we got 38).
Incidentally, Stourbridge Wolf, Jon Worcester and my good friend Ben all got it spot on.
So for a bit of a larf, how about we give it another whirl?
Currently we have 24 points from 26 games, exactly the same as last season.
Taking a look at the final 14 matches, guessing purely the outcome and not the goals scored / conceded, here’s my guess:
WBA (a) – 3pts
Blackpool (h) – 3pts
Spurs (h) – 0pts
Villa (a) – 0pts
Newcastle (a) – 1pt
Everton (h) – 1pt
Stoke (a) – 0pts
Fulham (h) – 3pts
Blues (a) – 1pt
WBA (h) – 1pt
Sunderland (a) – 0pts
Blackburn (h) – 3pts
===============
Total (24+16) = 40pts
===============
If that prediction came to fruition, I reckon we’d have enough points on the board to beat the drop. Just.
I don’t think it’s too ambitious either. 4 wins, 4 draws, 4 defeats isn’t a huge ask given the fixtures we have.
Sure, that’s a statistically bigger return than we’ve averaged so far this season, but I think we all accept we need an upturn in our results to stave off relegation.
Of course, our impressions of these games could and probably will change as the weeks roll by. So don’t worry about predicting one outcome here and then saying something completely different ahead of the matches. It won’t effect your Prediction League status! 🙂
Anyway, feel free to copy, paste and leave your own predos in the comments.

WBA (a) – 1pts
Blackpool (h) – 0pts
Spurs (h) – 3pts

Fulham (h) – 1pts

WBA (h) – 3pt
Sunderland (a) – 1pts
Blackburn (h) – 1pts
19 points in total, assuming we continue to do well against tougher opposition and falter against the crap ones.
Blackpool at home zero points Sleachy!
Come on, they’re on the slide now. We need to be beating them on our own patch.
Defeat is unthinkable in that one.
I went with the maxim that we play poorly against teams we should beat and visa versa, although looking again I notice I’ve got us down for back to back wins twice, which I doubt we’ll achieve.
I don’t know exactly where they’ll come from, as we’re unpredictable even by our own standards this term, but I’m confident we’ll get the points to stay up
I can see that logic Sleachy – we tend to get get nothing from ‘must win’ games!
I’d love us to stay up and blackpool to go down – Holloway has shown everyone just how much of a tw@t he really is this season.
Key to our fate will be the fortunes of Subderland and Blackburn. If they’re pushing for Europe and scrapping for points they’ll be much tougher opposition than if they are firmly entrenched midtable with nothing to play for…
4 wins on the bounce??? Not sure about that!

I suspect the team that finishes 3rd bottom will get about 38pts, so we might be talking goal-difference. I’m convinced that will play a major role in determining who goes down this season.

Can’t see us doing it tbh … although, I hope we do and I’ll still be there regardless. Come on me babbies!!!
Something is quite right with the squad, I’m not sure if it’s the tactics or the players, because on paper we’ve got a better team this year, however, we’re just not doing it. Maybe Mick’s time is up? Big Sam is out there! …

Bloody hell, we’re going to do it!!
I can’t even remember what it feels like to win 3 games on the spin, but I’m pretty sure it would involve liquid in underwear, particularly if Albion and Blues were turned over on the glory run!
Loving your enthusiasm.
Or two games!!!
Thomas – as i got it spot on last year can I get a bonus point on this years predictions league please? Or perhaps a three point deduction could be made to anyone who got it wrong?

I’m going for the all out optimism route. Our position in the league is absolutely not deserved based on the level of play our players have put in this season. We’ve been very unlucky to lose so many games and I think with the big 4 out the way i think the boys can focus their efforts on one level of team to go up against for the rest of the season.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team play such good football in the position that Wolves are currently in. Usually at this time of the season, the teams at the bottom are playing poorly with their heads down, managers losing their jobs and the fans complaining(pretty much like the Shite, West Ham, Blackppool), but Wolves look like a team excited by the challenge and with a belief in their ability who play well, with their “tails” up(did you see what I did there lol), manager safe in his job and the majority of the fans happy with the effort and play of their team.
First part of my prediction is thrapin the Albion on Sunday! Come on the Wolves!
Are you some crazy Mexican?
ai ai ai ai arriba arriba! ……. no.
ps. i take it we didn’t do great in Geography did we?
Shit me – is Mexico not South America? I’ve been there as well.
Crazy Peruvian?
better! lol
I’m in Colombia actually. Crazier than any of the others mothers!
If you know anything about geography, you will know that Houston is the capital of Mexico, and we aint in South America, just the south of America.
FOMM
You must have been on the Columbian Marching Powder given the optimism of some of those predictions ha,ha,ha!
Let’s face it: we’re capable of *any* result in *any* of those final games. So what follows is laughably speculative. I can see 40 pts being the minimum for safety, and 38/39 being ‘on the borderline’, though.

Tight tight tight. To be on the safe side, I reckon we could do with improving our goal diff by +6 at least on top of those results …
The way we “played” against Arsenal leads me to think we will not pick up another win this season.
We will finish bottom, thanks to a dearth of tactical nous all season from our beloved Dinosaur, and his penchant for playing his love child Ward.
Yes we’ve played some good football at times, but the league table does not lie, and we are firmly entrenched at the bottom of it.
Wish we wern’t but then wishes don’t always come true.
If they did I would own the club and McCowardly would be history!!!
By the way watched a bit of Bristol City v Leeds on tv, what a load of shite.
That should be shown to our players as a precurser to next season, maybe that would give them the incentive they need!!

and ultimately relegation! But this is a Wolves side no-one can predict so just hope I’ve got it well and truly wrong!
My maths has failed me, 14 points and 38 total, who knows, may actually be enough if West Ham/West Brom and Blackpool continue to crash and burn!!
At least we’d enjoy 3 pts at St Andrews mate!
Yeah but i’d rather have them on Sunday!! Not sure whether I’m looking forward to it or dreading it at the mo!!

So why do we ALWAYS send the ball straight back to the keeper when we kick off, and then he hoofs it up the pitch, straight to the opposition, coz we aint got a tall target man???
Why not let them have the ball immediately, at least it will be in their half, if only momentarily??
Fucked up tactics, straight from the off!!
FOWB
I don’t think it is as complicated as this.
We need 3 or more points from the next two games, any less and we are very likely to go down.
Up the Wolves.
The key games are the home games, but can’t see us beating Fulham or Blackburn… we are crap in local derbies, so rule them out. Away from home, we are dire….so a handful of points from them

I’ve been reading the blog for a while now, but first time posting. Felt I had to get in thw swing of things and back the lads. I’m being fairly optimistic, especially I think with the 3pts at home to Fulham, but if we make sure we pick up points consistently in the home stretch, hopefully the likes of Blackpool and West Ham (and lets hope The Baggies) will self-destruct all by themselves and we’ll just sneak survival by a point or two. Up the Wolves!
Thanks for the comment Bagsy. Appreciate you making the leap of faith!
I don’t think any of the results you’ve plumped for are that ambitious. Fulham are notoriously poor away from home and only have one win on their travels to date, which is as bad as Wolves (granted they’ve taken 7 draws though).
By the looks of it, everyone seems to appreciate the need for a positive return over the next two games. We can’t afford to keep giving ground to our closest rivals.
Although it would be just like Wolves to lose the next two and then beat Spurs and Villa.
Bagsy!!!!!! I’d take a draw on Sunday and 3 pts v Blackpool. I am crapping it already TBH. I’ve never been so nervous about a match in all my life.

Sound like a pessimist don’t I??
That’s in keeping with our form for much of the season, so you’re not being too pessimistic! I don’t know why, but I have gone all positive of late. I think we have it in us – provided Mick sticks with the same, settled side.
I hope you’re right Ben. I reckon the Championship is getting harder and harder to get out of.
Anyway, shouldn’t you be working?!?!?
Anyone know if any pubs are showing the game via a dodgy internet feed / foreign channel??
I don’t know any pubs but I watch most of the wolves games on http://www.myp2p.eu . They usually show our 3 o’clocks on this site too, unless we’re playing wigan…. Usually good quality feeds and some even have English commentary! Hope this helps.
I’ll have a look, cheers

can we do a predict 3 to go down??
Wham/West Brom/Wigan
each of them has horendous remaining fixtures especially in April
Totally off the subject of Wolves, the question of the day is:
How did Gattuso know what Joe Jordan said to him, causing the head butt last night?
A greaseball eyetie able to translate the words of a toothless jock?
Puhleeze!!!!
FOWB
Gattuso played for Rangers for a year and is married to a Scottish bird if I remember correctly.
Hopefully we can rile the albion up enough on Sunday for someone to drop the nut on Clipboard.
And the Dinosaur, might straighten his nose!!
It is now Wednesday evening, time to ramp up the insults for Sunday, so all my endings will be shouted.

From a position of bottom, with the worst away record, the worst goal difference, and our championship defence etc etc, Ward etc etc etc, our points per game ratio is 0.92. Carrying on like that we get 35 points which spells relegation. If only some of those defeats had been converted to draws we would be so much in the s***e.
Heres my prediction.
WBA (a) 3 points
Blackpool (h) 3 points
Spurs 0 pts
Villa 1pts
Newcastle 0 pts
Everton 1 pt
Stoke 0 pts
Fulham 0 pts
Blues 1 pt
WBA 3 points

Thats 12 points and overall 36, bottom and relegated. Hope I`m wrong but we have been seriously undercooked this season, and I fear the worst. Please prove me wrong, I`m buying an early bird anyway.
