I was unequivocal when speaking to Paul Lambert about this – Wolves needs a cup run.
This message will be repeated ad nauseum until we finally make it into the latter stages of one of the competitions, preferably this one.
The draw hasn’t been particularly kind but progression is possible if the stars align. Some of these factors we can’t control, but I just want to see the manager doing everything within his power to help us progress.
That means picking a decent team and giving us a real chance of upsetting a solid Premier League outfit. The army of supporters heading up the M6 deserve nothing less.
Stoke
Speaking of solid, Mark Hughes was a good horse to back after parting ways with Tony Pulis. I was impressed by the teams he built at Blackburn and Fulham. There was a blip at QPR but he’s returned to form at the Britannia.
The Potters are once again safely ensconced in midtable after a slow start and seem like a much different beast to the Pulis-era team that established them as a top flight club.
They’ve still got a bit of muscle, but there’s been a significant upgrade in technical proficiency in recent years with the likes of Arnautovic, Shaqiri and Bojan underlining the shift in philosophy.
I think Stoke would be stupid not to go all out to win this match and progress in the competition (what do they have to lose?) so would be surprised if a strong team wasn’t fielded.
Unlike us, they’ve tasted Wembley in the not-too-distant past, making it to the final (after beating Wolves along the way) in 2011, eventually losing out to Manchester City.
Wolves
Despite my protestations, Lambert has made noises about a few changes, but I hope that means one or two, rather than five or six. We have to retain some sort of continuity.

Perhaps giving Iorfa and Hause another crack at the first team after a few weeks out of the firing line might not be a bad move?
But even that seems unnecessary with Stearman and Coady both contributing to a couple of cleansheets on the road in recent times against Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.
Mike Williamson could be given a first team return after over a year out too if defensive changes are the order of the day.
Further forward, there are endless options, particularly with Ronan and Enobakhare both well on their way towards being in regular contention.
I have no idea what sort of team we’ll see, but I suppose like Lambert suggests in the video below, nobody will complain as long as we make a decent fist of things.
Paul Lambert
Predictions
Logic dictates we’ll lose and I’d probably have to go with that assessment. They’re a midtable Premier League team and we’re not quite a midtable Championship side, so the gap is significant.
I would see it as a considerable upset if we were to progress, particularly away, but we have the attacking players to inflict damage if they’re allowed to play.
And hopefully the likes of Costa, Cavaleiro and co will relish the big occasion. But overall, I think we’ll get edged out.
3-1.
Up The Wolves!

Come on Stoke we should be your load of Sh*te easily
Your comment might have been half decent if you learned to type something that resembled English.
BEAT. The word is BEAT.
I hope you eat your nonsense words when we play you off the park.
Are you Amanda Hugandkiss in disguise?
Q How to kill 30 seconds if you are ever in the Potteries?
A A trip round the Stoke City trophy room.
(it only takes 5 seconds but you need to allow an extra 25 seconds for laughing)
Come on Bedford be sensible. It’ll take 30 minutes, not 30 seconds.
It’ll take them that long to try and find the key to the rarely used door…..
You ARE my load of shite… very easily!!
So how does it go Beatrix? Our second team with a 16 year old beat you out of sight. You were never, ever in it.
Haha typical dog head nibble every time. See you outside the away end tomorrow then eh?
You’re a brave man Beatrice.
We should spot you easy enough , you’ll be the one dragging your knuckles on the floor then, you need to put your watch forward 30 years you mutt.
Can’t see us doing much to be honest. Not expecting much of a cup run this season. Maybe a 2-0 defeat?
Loyal stop.smoking that shit and do one! Happy new year too u all.went Away for Xmas and new year
Never predict a defeat but on this occasion I think we will
As long as we play well put in a decent performance
Wouldn’t change it too much though we do have,a chance,of beating them
Don’t like stoke aswell
Up the wolves
What do you get if you cross a pig with a loyal potter ? Dont know there are some things a pig just wont do.
Anyway enough of that nonesense 1-1.
I think we might just bring them back to ours for a replay. 1-1
They’re half decent by Prem standards. Hughsie has built a good team that can give anyone a run when they are at home. Sadly can’t see us getting close. Can see us going down by 3 to nothing but who knows – stranger things have happened at sea. I think it would be worth giving Iorfa and Hause a run out just to see what they can do against Prem standard strikers. All part of the learning curve.
Delighted to be so hopelessly wrong. Great to see Williamson and Evans back. They will make a difference defensively.
Stoke 2 Wolves 3
Our season starts here folks
Hard to see anything other than a defeat but going to predict 2-1 to the Wolves because illogically I can’t bring myself to write Wolves off in a two horse race. Been bigger upsets.
We play better away.
The fans are ALWAYS 100% solidly behind us away.
Stoke assumed they were already in the fourth round after the third round draw was made.
Never corner a hungry wolf.
Any team that has had poolis as manager has no morals, brains or ethics.
So, easiest 5-1 of the season, as well as the first.
FOwb and sc
Not convinced either Club is actually going to take this competition that seriously to be honest. Then again if PL doesn’t believe we need a new centre back what is ‘serious’ anyway?
Hope for a win as always and good luck to the Bloggers who are making the trip.
Stoke 2-1 Wolves
Yeah I read that. Bet Steve Showcase makes a comment. As for me, I trust Pl and as long as he gets a quality striker in we wil be okay.
As for the game tomorrow, 3-0 to Stoke with PL reviewing his statement about tge CB slot lol.
How can PL be serious about believing that we don’t need a new centre-half? A fascinating question, Bedford. I speak as one who has been rubbished by his mates for years for saying that Stears should be switched to the midfield. I’m surprised nobody else can see it.? Stears is a bloody good player who quite frequently makes a howler. Good, but not suitable for the last line of defence. I suspect that, as a new manager, Lambert has not yet realised how chronic Stears’s proneness to howlers is. Who knows? Maybe old age will cure the Stears disease.
Then, probably, Lambert wants to take a long look at Williamson, Iorfa and Hause. And, maybe, a couple of those outstanding kids PL talks about are CDs.
Well, if we don’t buy a new CD, let’s hope Lambert is right! !! !!!
If we are not looking to recruit a centre half, and from all the noises being made, need to sell or give away a few players before new ones arrive, that’s fairly much common sense, but what wasn`t was getting all those players in close season without any point apart from lining the pockets of that dodgy agent.
I share the sentiments of Bedford Wolf, how serious are the owners currently.
For those hardy fans travelling, expect an airiel bombardment of major proportions towards Crouch. Just who the hell is going to mark him tomorrow. We`ll be lucky to get a corner, unless our keeper has been told to come for every cross heading for the six yard area.
I`d love to see us win this game, but just can`t see it I`m afraid, although I`d go to a replay if there was one.
I’m beginning to admire Lambert.
He is trying to mould a team with what he has.
Bright and Ronan should play.
Baath and Stearman are an improving partnership.
These young men need confidence not contempt for their efforts.
Getting out a cheque book will not help Wolves as a team.
A manager who can instill confidence and create an environment for a team to develop will.
Stoke 1 Wolves 3
Bod, Bright & Mason to score.
Well said Robin. The signs are there for all to see. And if new players are needed, the summer is the time to get them, not now. We can’t really make the playoffs this season anyway.
Quite right, Robin. That’s the best if the manager can do it. And Paul L looks the right man to me!
Yes, putting all Loyal Potter jibes aside, we could be in for a torrid time if Hughes has done his homework.
DB gets out jumped by midgets, let alone stilt men like Peter Crouch.
The prognosis is not particularly healthy.
But, as it’s a Cup game and I just want to make our Loyal Potter’s eyes GLAZE over, I will go for a draw.
There’s many a SLIP between CUP and lip and Crouch might get CROCKED so let’s look for positives.
1-1
Are you going potty my friend. Even if we play well I cannot see us clayming a victory.
I Spode you think that’s funny!
I guess they will play their ball-players – Arnautovic, Shaqiri and Bojan – which should be enough. But we tend to put up a fight when written-off, so maybe a loss to a late strike like at WHU is on the cards. Maybe resurrect the Iorfa/Hause central defensive partnership and give Burgoyne a place – he’s a big boy and can take crosses off Crouch’s head.
Well, loyal putter, me old China, I wonder, as you Wade through the dirt and trash of Stokie, whether you are a Sagger makers Bottom Knocker, or do you just Wedge Wood??
0-1
Dicko or Mason scores the winning goal – if they play.
We took the game to West Ham last season but it was not to be thanks to a good goal in the dying minutes, (sounds familiar this season)
We can give em a game, wipe the smile off Loyal Putter’s mug, but I am not so romantic as some and don’t care too much for this competition. So, I want to see a stronger run in the league at the expense of the cup. It all depends on what PL wants so we’re in his sweaty mitts.
I am going to go for a Stoke 0 – Wolves 1 result in hope more than anything else. As long as we play well I’m not to fussed, give us something to shout about and we shall shout our heads off.
Taking all the Grandchildren tomorrow, so looking forward to seeing Twix, Newark and who ever else is going to the match tomorrow.
COYW’s
Have a great day Stu’ wish I could have be their. C O Y W !!!!
There’s no dout about it the creation of the Premier League has over the 20 or more years its been going has almost turned the F.A cup into a side show.
The greed of the Premier League Clubs to stay there and most of the Championship Clubs try ing to get there means it has been and continues to be devalued not by the supporters but the managers and owners.
Which bring me to Lambertts team selection which he has already stated he will rest some player, WHY if they are in form, WHY most of the player are dying to play in this game a big crowd Premier League opersition and the small matter of 4600 Wolves fans paying hard earned money to watch the secound string slug it out, I think it’s a disgrace to each and every one of those fans if Lambertt doesn’t play our strongest team and Ill tell you why.
What’s the point in entering the cup in the first place if all you are going to do is given it lip service it just show total lack of respect for the cup and the fans.
As for the game I think we have a chance IF we play our strongest side posible draw bring them back to Molinuex then anything is posible. My brother and his lad are going but I’m working for the there sake and the rest of the Wolves support I hope Lambertt plays the strongest team posible……..I dout it though..!
As ever it will be a let down… No cup run for us, and I don’t understand why cos I don’t think we will go down but we are nowhere near the playoffs either so we should give it a go…
Wolves 0-3 Stoke City
A cup run would be lovely but I’m not expecting much from this game, particularly if the likes of Shaqiri play for SC. Going with my head and a 2-0 win for the home side.
I too would REALLY like to see a great cup run. It’s been way too long since we had one, and let’s face it, it’s not like we’re going to win the league this year, so I would personally actually try to play it up in the cup, rather than down this year. But I do fear PL may make too many changes … we’ll see.
On a totally different note, for those of you Blues fans out there like me (not the Brummie kind – the music kind ;-)), I just saw that one of my favorite contemporary, female Blues singers, Ana Popovic, is performing in Wolverhampton on Jan 17th.
http://www.therobin.co.uk/whats_on/giginfo.asp?gigid=4768
I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is in my opinion one of the best contemporary guitarists out there. I have watched her 3 times, including in a Jimi Hendrix tribute where she was the only female guitarist playing along with the likes of Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Johhny Lang and others. If you are free on the 17th, I highly recommend go watch the concert. Curious if anyone else on the blog is also familiar with her music.
GW
An unexpected natural phenomena involving the hair of Mark Hughes, the moon, high atmospheric pressure and a pigeon called Alan will force a huge influx of salmon up the river trent. Thus creating a minor tsunami in Stoke city centre ( causing £85 million worth of improvements). The wave will continue in to the stadium just as Peter Crouch is about to head a goal and sweeping him off his feet in to the home fans. As the wave recedes panic will ensue in the Stoke defence allowing BOD to score. There then follows a period of end to end football and a mistake by Baath when he trips over a salmon allowing Whelan to net. Controversy follows when another stray salmon volleys home from a corner to put Stoke 2-1 up. In injury time, true to cup tradition, a penalty is awarded after Shawcross treads on the head of a confused octopus. CAV steps up to slot home. 2-2. The FA launch an inquiry after Mark Hughes is seen kicking out at a bewildered sea horse. Draw 2-2.
Please, please, please come to the Bloggers Ball in May, and bring copious amounts of what you are drinking!!!
I love the FA Cup, really love it, I mean a lot. I love that lesser teams get to play the big boys and sometimes come out on top, love it.
As for tomorrow it would be brilliant to beat Stoke and go on a cup run. However, I doubt that we will manage it. Team wise I don’t think that much will change, maybe a surprise with Mike Williamson at the back with DB, Iorfa at right back and maybe Prince Onion in midfield.
Don’t know if both Prince and Williamson had a few minutes this afternoon against Walsall, possibly someone on here will know?
Stoke to have to much quality and despite a valiant attempt we will lose 2-1.
Is Chipperfield’s Circus still in business?
If so, they can have their clown back in 14 days.
Looks like all those expectations of three or four essential January reinforcements won’t be happening; it’s back to the promise of a couple of Academy players and perhaps a couple returning from injury for this window now that Lambert has found the semblance of a decent enough team to keep us up for this season.
And talk of changes in the starting line up tomorrow sounds like another sub standard team going to Stoke. Our large contingent of traveling fans deserve a full on attempt to win this. It really depends on whether Stoke want it; I think they will, and our shadow team will be just going through the motions in the FA Cup yet again.
Nice to see everybody being so positive…
The only game I ever walked out of before the final whistle was against this bunch of wankers. Not because of the four goals, but the endless Delilah and taunts that accompanied the thrashing.
So, if you read these blogs Paul, send a team out that can do a job and figure a way to beat ’em, because I don’t want to hear that shit again, ta!
UTW
3-0 to the lads
Now folks, I have got a feeling that this game will go the same way as Dave Jones’ first FA Cup 3rd round tie – a 1-0 away win.It was at the shit (Not the Albion but Forest if you come from around here). No Adam Proudlock this time but Dicko to send the near 5000 Wolves fans wild. I have actually had a substantial double bet on this along with my nearest league club, Lincoln City, to put one over Micks Ipswich. Yes, I have been on the Newcastle Brown and the Strongbow but good times are just around the corner. Tomorrow is pay back time for when 15 Stoke fans “did me” on the train back to Derby in the ’80’s. Yes, 15 “hardmen” from Blyth Bridge ! I know some of the bloggers that are going to the game but would love to meet up with others. Me and Susan are in Block 38 Row 7 Seats 917 & 918. The Harvester pub next to the stadium is shut on matchdays but if you fancy a cider or white wine, look out for the red Hyundai Getz in the Holiday Inn Express car park next to the ground. COYW
I think PL will ring the changes tomorrow, he needs to showcase some of the players who he intends to sell to enable him to bring a couple of players he wants, reducing the playing staff, giving the fringe players some game time but more importantly, keeping an eye on the local derby with AV coming up fast. Let’s face it we are never going to win the bloody thing so let’s concentrate on all things championship. All that said, I will still be dreaming of a win and impressive Icelandic clap to boot by 4,500 super loyal supporters, our team might not be premiership but those supporters certainly are, bet they win the singing and make more noise then those Burslem lot. The strength of the wolf is in the pack, the strength of the pack is in the wolf (jungle book, it was written for us) CYW.
Couldn’t think of a better place to be than with 4600 other screaming headbangers.
Whatever the team selection I just hope that the players chosen give it their all to secure a win….just can’t see the clay heads starting with a full strength team.
I do have an nkling that the same pattern will follow a previous encounter at the Brit stadium…us going 2-0 down and then coming up with a couple of goals to snatch a draw. (Craddock style)…..that shut the Stokies up last time and should be good enoygh tomorrow.
Looking fwd to meeting up with Stuey and The Newarks…
Likewise Mike. Always good to see you.
Hey all. Our gang of 9 is gettin off the train in Stafford at 10.30 for pre match beer. Back on train to stoke about 2.15. So might see some of you about round there. I know there are a load of Wolves doing the same. Cheers all.
They ain’t much better than us . Don’t write our boys off
It’s 11 against 11 in the fa cup . stoke are shit and wolves can be excellent sometimes !
Oh and loyal potter …aka a Amanda
Get a life you bell end . You are so full of it
” see you outside the away end ”
… I mean , even if you ve got something about you and you fancied having it away with wolves tomorrow, you wouldn’t say ” see you outside the away end tomorrow !!
you Albion bell end ..absolutely laughable you mug .
You ve only ever had a tear up sitting behind a key board . That is
obvious
London wolves loyal – calm down me old china and whilst you’re at it go and get some grammar lessons you inarticulate little Toby. And if you want it I’ll be in Wetherspoons in Stafford tomorrow morning waiting for your soft lot.
Loyal potter, I don’t usually bite but grow up. It is a football match between two of the most famous teams Staffordshire has ever seen. As I have posted earlier I have been “done” at Stoke in the ’80’s. I want Wolves to win of course I do but if we lose so be it. We move on. You go on about meeting “our lot” at the away end or in Wetherspoons in Stafford. How old are you ? I have friends who are Stoke fans and if we lose, good for them. I will look out for who they get in the next round and just wish that it could have been us. Football violence belongs in the ’80’s and should remain there. As I said in the first sentence – please GROW UP !
Loyal putter,
Got ya mate, sussed you. Looked up your URL and there you are, a TWAT (Troglodyte With Added Training)
I’m putting your photo up so all will spot you in Wetherspoons. You’ll be the one sitting on your own, you relic.
Get a life you Bentilee throwback.
Thanks for the clue .. wear a red rose ….we wouldn’t want to meet up with the wrong idiot
I’m easy to find Amanda .,. In fact while you re in stafford , ask around after me . I grew up there , I was well known there . You find me Amanda . I drink in the north bank bar on a home game .
Like I say , I’m easy to find , come and say hello .
London wolves loyal ?
I don’t usually bite but ignore THRUSH. It just comes on here to wind us up. It is quite sad actually.Let’s go on another clubs blog and leave negative comments. I have got a life and so have you but unfortunately – IT hasn’t.
Burgoyne
Silvio Williamson me Deslandes
Evans Saville
Wallace Teixeira John
Gladon
Well PL said to expect changes!
Why Wolves should take the FA Cup seriously this season.
A real opportunity to get us fans a trip to Wembley.
A possible shortcut to European football at Molineux.
4,632 great fans going to Stoke.
Lets not hear Wolves sheep in the stands and forums as here, as they did losing to Newcastle in the EFL Cup, bleating ‘sooner have the 3 points’. Baaaaaa WHY WHY WHY..
THRUSH ?
Where have you been ? Not at Stoke tomorrow, that’s for sure. And not at Sheffield Wednesday or Forest or Norwich ? I was/will be at all of them but hey, I am a Wolves fan…………………………………………………………..you’re not. Muppet.
Poor Amanda Hugandkiss, he’s all confused. Should someone tell him his boys are at home to Derby? Tony Clueless v The Wally with the Brolly. I hear Derby fans likely to outnumber Sandwell Shadow Dwellers.
I’ve been on the Rodeo Clown double IPA and I make no apologies for being maudlin’ and sentimental, but i just fuckin’ love this quote:
Fate whispers to the Wolf;
“You cannot withstand the storm”
and the Wolf whispers back,
I am the fuckin’ storm!
My intensely diligent knowledge of beers of the world tells me that Rodeo Clown Double IPA is 9.5% proof – so you are doing damned well to even put a coherent sentence together me old lad. If that doesn’t currently make any sense to you then try this – doing coherent so you are even sentence to damned put a well together.
Yes
What you said
I am on my second Rodeo Clown, after three Hopadillos, which are a pathetic 6.3 % proof!
I am nearly as wasted as Cheeseburger will be by nine in the morning!!
FOwb
I’m jealous!!,
And here’s another;
The Wolf only needs enough luck to find you once.
Love the quotes Clive!
Looks like the FA Cup (surprisingly and refreshingly still kept its proper name) doesn’t count for the prediction league as no box to put in the scores.
For what it’s worth I think Stoke will be a little bit too classy for us, but as it’s a one off cup tie, I hope we sneak a draw and bring ’em back to the Mol.
So 2-2 for me with Cav to score.
COMBs!!
Loyal potter …Stoke fans -hard as nails.. twice as easy to hammer…Oh the Boothen end in the old days..
So…PL ‘why in Gods name do we need a centre back’ is to do with the faith in Williamson to do it which he can ..re his fitness – call PL a gambler I must say..Who stands down DB or Steers? ( I say both) and bring in a big purchase but I remember PL knows Williamson – seems also to back DB ..there is loyalty in his veins..
The Stoke preview to PL…I can’t understand the Lambert Glasgow accent ramblings with the succinct interviewer Mike Burrows king of the dumb questions..but I did understand ‘there’s no point in being in the FA cup if you don’t want to win it’ ..positiveness indeed…
I’m not so sure …but if Williamson plays then I rate the possibility of a smash and grab -we are capable with Costa and Bod on form if we don’t concede more than 1 …
So 2-1 to Wolves..
There are no scores up incidentally..
COYW
No scores up as it is only league games that count for the predictions league Steve. This is just for fun.
How’s the pub progressing buddy? Dying to get down to taste the ale. Are you going to have a “Bloggers Opening Night” lol
Not getting promoted ,
Not getting relegated
May as well win the cup , one of the worst games I ever went to was at villa park being beat by the arse ( again) in the semi final 2 0 ex Wolves Alan Sunderland playing up for them. We used to make quarters and semis back then and finish in a healthy league position so bollox to the players being tired,
Tired to me is working 5 and a half days and then rushing to get to the game in time for kickoff Utw 2 1 to us
When a cup draw is made, you either want a glamour tie or one you can win. There ain’t much glamour in a trip to the potteries so we’d best get the win.
No one knows who the two managers will pick so predictions are a bit spurious. But I think whoever PL chooses will play their hearts out and I know our away following will give them ample reward for their efforts. I’d love it we beat them. Just love it.
Stoke 1 v 2 Wolves
Good post KeeganWolf, good post !
As a veteran who can remember the 1947-48 season (Cullis’s first) as a 10-year-old, the fans’ mood this season reminds me of then. But it was 48-49 by the time Stan won the Cup. So I’ll be positive at this time next season! But for today 2-0 with no scorer.
Not expecting much from this.
Will settle for a draw and a replay at the Mol.
I wish
Just come out of Weatherspoons in Stafford and ….WOW ….ITS RAMMED WITH WOLVES FANS…..
Just said good morning to two policemen heading in there….. just saying….
Having just seen the teams I hope you had plenty of beer, Stoke full strength, Wokves include Iorfa, Hause, Williamson, Evans and Saville, So much for PL wanting a cup run! Hope I’m wrong but I fear the worst.
Wolves to win and give us fans a cup run COYW
Got to agree with Bedders could get slaughtered.
We could get slaughtered, yes Colin, but then again………
Just heard the line-up. We could ship a load of goals with the defensive changes PL has made but equally we look good up front. Gonna need to score a few goals to win this I feel.
Brompton you should be a consultant administrator…..
What post are you referring to? I did suggest you use the reply button …..
After being chastised by Miss Cape this last week (and I’m still decifering what she wrote. I think a few pints of Rodeo needed to begin to make sense of her ramblings), onto cup glories, and racking my brains thinking of crocked pot jokes, which have already been done.
Therefore, I will mention the not so luscious Amanda darling.
I scrolled down and saw her name. And the post under hers, in capital letters, said THRUSH. Hmmm. Can you get cream for that? Or suppositories?
FFFFFUUUUUCCCCKKKKKIIIIINNNNNNN
A!!!!!!
So, loyal potter and amanda thrush, how do you like them onions?
Premier League?
You are ‘avin’ a laff!!
And the shit and cheatmouth got stuffed as well.
Life dont much better in the football world than this!!!
Ha ha ha
Yes, yes, yes my babbies!!!
Let me be the first to say two things.
First well done PL, your team selection baffled me and worried the life out of me but you were spot on and I was wrong. Brilliant.
Secondly to Loyal Potter, Amanda Cape, Thrush, Amanda Hugandkiss, Amanda Holden and all other sad little trolls – your boys took a hell of a beating so up yours.
I don’t bloody believe it. Where did that come from. Large steak and a bottle of red to celebrate tonight.
Icing on the cake the SHIT lost
Come us fuck u stoke
What do I know I predicted a loss
Round four for us wba at home will do me cmon
Er, the shit got knocked out today.
Just sayin,
I’m definitely not one to say ‘I told you so’ but under the circumstances…..’I told you so’. Yeeee Haaaa. 🙂
Two clean sheets on the bounce aswell
What is going on
Forgot to say
Fuck u stoke
Lambs to the slaughter no Lambert walking on water.
Loyal potter, do you want salt and pepper with those words?
You were shite again today.
Up the Wolves.
To all our Stoke friends…….
Oh, Oh Oh, that’s not unusal…
Hause and Williamson at the back look decent. Throw up a few questions about defensive partnerships!
Brilliant win- I see good things for wolves coming !
UTW
Brilliant! Just Brilliant! Lost for words.
Wow!
My admiration for Lambert increases tenfold.
A great win, which will give confidence to owners, players, staff and fans.
Who needs Sako when we’ve got Costa?
Hi guys,
It would be cowardly of me not to enter this arena and say well played to the wolves today. Well and truly rammed my words down my now rather hoarse throat! I thought you did all 4,600 fans proud today and your manager clearly did something right. Unfortunately for me it means another cup run ended and questioning a number of our players commitment namely Bojan! Second half Ikeme kept you in it but you did more than enough for the win. Well done an good luck in the next round.
P.S a few of your fans have let you down by beating a bouncer in wetherspoons stoke.
Well played and peace out!
Thank you for your kind words, potty, and also for having the balls to come on here to grovel!
Good luck in the Prem, hope you stay there coz on this display, it will be six easy points for us when we come up!
Loyal Putter.
Fair play to you Duck, you put your money where your mouth was and when it went pear shaped you apologised, unlike your manager you accepted we played good enough to beat you guys.
Good luck for the rest of the season, I would love to recreate that atmosphere again in the league in the future.
Loyal not surprised you have enjoyed your excursion with a football club and football fans that are still special.
Okay so I was a goal out…
Fantastic result! Abso-bloody-lutely fantastic.
Fabulous away support too. I love beating Stoke. Lambert gets manager of the month for me ’til next week!
Flamboyant Lambert V scratch my head Hughes..no contest..in Stokes own back yard too…Historic.
See you all at Wembley..
Can’t wait for the draw. Who do you want us to beat next?
Didn’t see that coming well done to the players and Lambertt. I feared when Saville appeared but hats off to everyone, most pleased for the fantastic support we are defiantly Premier League in that department.
Bring on Man Utd at the Molinuex there record in recent years isn’t very good…!
Well done again to one and all.
Unexpected.
Well done the lads.
Ok. Ill ask it. Who is Morgan Gibbs White?
I have heard and read about a few kids coming thru but this lad had leap frogged them all.
me too Jim, but if you google him there are articles reporting how good he is from some time ago – played for the U16, under 18 teams, but ‘tipped for the top’.
What with him, and a few other youngsters they’ll soon be talking of Lambert’s lambs – like Busby’s babes ?….
All I can say is WTF
Where did that come from !!
Its called the FA cup, anything can happen, home draw next, please. COYW.
I did not expect that. I will wait until after I watch MOTD before I comment on our performance, but chuffed with the result.
Believe you me Brompton ..that was a great performance….at it from the start…Bodi could have had a couple early on …but we stuck to the task and Costa …..well ……I could drink his coffee all week man.
Well worth a watch on MOTD.
Just saw the 10 seconds of the highlights shown. Why do we get such short coverage. All I noted from that was that Ikeme had a safe pair of hands. Loved Doherty’s free kick -brilliant.
Who was that young 16 year old? How did he play?
I am coming down for the ‘uddersfield game on the 28th. Will park in the Park View and be there around 13.30, if you are free for a coffee.
Brompton.
Don’t bother, the Huddersfield game is moved because we won yesterday, so it will be a refund and tickets to the 4th round of the FA Cup boy.
It was Morgan Gibbs-White from Cannock, he has been tearing up trees in the U 17’s, 19’s and of late in the U23’s. The club rate him above Ennis, Ronan and Enokhabare. 16 years old, and ran rings around Premiership defenders.
Ah well. At least MOTD showed us plenty of Manure and Arse nal. As though we don’t see enough.
I stayed up especially to watch the coverage…. a bit of a waste of time. And the dude on MOTD said Carl Ikeme was the ‘difference between the sides’ … WTF ??!?! What game was he watching because it sure as hell wasn’t the Wolves game.
Gutted that MOTD showed so little of our game and made it look as if it was a smash and grab win when it was quite the opposite. Infuriating!
I’d love to watch the whole game so if anyone finds this online, please share!! Particularly to see our 16 year old startlet mixing with the Premier League boys. Amazing.
Looking forward to the Villa game now, I’m literally creaming my pants with anticipation for who PL will pick…. it’s a real conundrum but I’d love to see both Williamson and Hause again at CB. Luckily for me it’s on Sky Sports as I can’t get to the Mol this weekend.
Let’s give Steve Bruce a massive headache for the entire game. Win this and we’ll be just 4 points behind them.
Come on Wolves!
Absolutely spot on and echoed my thoughts of MOTD exactly.
Quote from Mark Hughes “credit to Wolves, they showed a lot of energy and enthusiasm and their keeper had an outstanding day at the office”.
So he is trying to perpetuate the lie that we just ran around a lot and were saved by our keeper. Nonsense! We outplayed, out-fought and basically outclassed his Premier League stars and he knows it. Not only that but we did so without normal first teamers like Coady, Batth, Stearman, Price, Edwards, Dicko and Cavaleiro, had a centre back who hadn’t played for 14 months, a central midfielder who hadn’t played for 5 months and even gave a debut to a 16 year old kid.
What a great Sunday morning feeling. Fantastic win, great performance and looking forward to the 4th round draw with interest for a change. Sandwell lost as well so happy days all round. What team next Saturday will PL pick?
Messaged BOG yesterday as he was following the game on Sky aboard his cruise liner – somewhere mid-Atlantic heading for Barbados. Lucky git!
Happy birthday today to David Bowie and Elvis Presley.
I predicted a win but if I’m honest I wasn’t too confident once I saw that lineup, the interesting thing is though, how does this performance affect pl team selection v villa and trimming the squad? Interesting times ahead. Utw
Fucking great old fashioned day out that was yesterday !
A few of us were in stoke pubs ( titanic brewery )
Great banter , no fists , pissed up singing on the bus and all that stuff !
Don’t you just love fa cup days
Well me and Susan have just got back from a fab weekend in Stoke (everything paid for by her as one of my christmas pressies) and I have to say days like yesterday make me so proud to be a Wolves fan. I did predict a win further up but when I saw the team I have to admit that I was a little unsure. I needn’t have been as we were outstanding from start to finish. Carl Ikeme was world class and Williamson looked like he had never been away. Doherty was superb and Costa, well what can you say ? Then the young kid comes on and isn’t fazed in the slightest. I am sure that some of the ball boys and mascots are older than some of our players. And the support, what can you say. It does make me smile when grown men you have never met before in your life give you a hug when we score. Thought the steward who got “kidnapped” on the concourse was a good sport too. Lovely to see Stu and Mike again, even if just briefly. Onwards and upwards and see you at Carrow Road for hopefully another great away day.
And to top it off I have just watched the FAN CAM video on YouTube and you can see me going barmy behind the goal and actually with my hands together – praying ! Do I really look that old ?

Thanks for that Stu
Where. Watched it 3 times lol. Not seen you once.
Brompton, thought I was blind. Row 7, right bang centre of the goal – the twat in the glasses !
