Wolves have finally completed the signing of Stephen Hunt, ending one of the longest running transfer sagas in the club’s history. Read the full story on the club site here.
The deal is reported to be worth around £3 million by the Express and Star, but the club, as always, have not disclosed the exact figure paid to Hull to secure the Irish international.
I have mixed feelings about the deal. Signing an injured player is always a gamble, but a fully fit Stephen Hunt will certainly be an asset to Wolverhampton Wanderers, so hopefully he’ll be back out on the pitch sooner rather than later.
It feels like we’ve been talking about Hunt as a Wolves player for so long, that there’s not really much else to say.
But now that it’s finally official, what does everyone else think about Wolves latest acquisition?

Nice to see we have qualitiy signings this season..
well done Jez and Mick again..
I’m sure you all knew i meant quality…..
As long as we’ve got Kightly injury free, it’s not an imminent problem, but if he, Kightly, gets injured, it can become a problem, if Bia doesn’t perform. But of course Edwards can also play as a right wing.
I say our squad are much stronger prior to the next years campaign than the previous. My concerns is that our signings, besides Fletcher and the injured Hunt, strengthens our side defenseively. I would really like to see an offensive midfielder and a striker, someone with the capability to do things on their own. When one asses our activity on the transfer market it really comes down to how our newly bought players fits into our side and how much success they’ve got compared to players aquired from the other teams.
Mana Dembele is on his way, and might be the second striker i’ve wrote about. I doesn’t really know alot about this bloke, but I guess he’s quality.MM know the art of bringing in quality from lower divisions 🙂
4 news players and around £15 million spent.
Happy days!
Might be a gamble with the injury situation, but I get the feeling that Mick has just bought a player with experience and who can score and create, for a bargain price.
Kights, Jarvis and Bea can all play either side so we now will have good strong cover for both sides once Jarvis and Kights are fit.
My jury is out on Hunt
Not sure if he can cut it over a full season, and how injury prone he is.
Time will tell.

Preferred Ronaldo from Madrid would you Clive???
Didn’t Mick say recently that he wasn’t interested in Hunt?
Don’t think so mate, it’s been public knowledge that we’ve been after Hunt for yonks
I remember him saying he wasn’t after him too!
Must have been saying it just to screw the price down even more!
Good signing in my opinion. This summer, we’re buying first team players which is good. Building a really strong squad now
Smokescreens and not giving the game away, nice one MM. Hunt apart we seem to have signed three tall players, so much more of a danger from free kicks and corners. Another area improved possibly.
Good signings, Hunt was a top player for Reading, and Hull`s player of the season, can`t wait to see him with Doyle and Fletcher.
Can`t wait for the next signing or departure, what wonderful times for us WW faithfull.
Pleased with hunt signing – that should give us five players that can score a goal from scraps (Dolye, Jarvis, Fletcher & Adlene now).
Jury out on this one
That’s my line!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But what does a guilty verdict mean? Or maybe a mistrial for you Clive.
I don’t need no stinkin’ trial, I’m as guilty as hell to all the charges you wanna hit me with!!
Bring ’em on, I ain’t skeered!!!
Now, what was the question again?
I am not a big fan of Hunt, from what I’ve seen of him, which to be fair, is not much, so I really don’t have a strong opinion one way or the other.
Yeah, I know, that’s a first for me.
That said, I am sure that my impression will improve dramatically when he turns in match winning performances week after week.

Or match drawing performances against the likes of Blackpool and Wigan. Oh well, at least Pompey aren’t in the league to take 6 points off us this time round.
My (rash) prediction: He will be our Player of the Season 2010-2011 when the poll is taken. Top signing.
What about the Hof?
Different kind of rash altogether, Stourbridge 😀
Good signing for us. Should push for 15th-10th next season. Still no debt:)
I think Morgan and Moxey should be given some credit actually for the state that our club’s finances are in. We’ve spent within our means for the past four years and gradually improved. Now we’re reaping the benifits by being able to splash big cash on players like Doyle, Fletcher and Hunt
How football has changed! Even the fans have to worry about the finances now!
I remember when the only thing other than the result I had to worry about was standing in p*ss on the old south bank!
You just have to look at the two biggest clubs in England and see what kind of mess they’re in and how their fans are reacting. I’m just saying we should be thankful to be stable
The end is nigh Kightly fans!
Jarvis on the left, Hunt on the right – Kightly on the bench (that’s if he ever manages to drag himself off the treatment table!).
Lets hope Hunt can do a job on the Albion keeper just like he did with Petr Cech! ha,ha,ha!
Oh no it isn’t! Kites will be back!
I wouldn’t be so sure Stourbridge, Kightly will probably be back first
