We were architects of our own downfall against Brentford.
Marcel’s bodyslam for the first and Kilman’s inability to deal with Toney for the second (combined with some shoddy marking from Saiss) were gifts you can’t offer in the Premier League.

Again in midweek, both goals resulted from mistakes, with Podence, Coady, Boly and Neves all culpable in some way for self-inflicted pain.
The good thing about this is that mistakes can be eradicated, either by changing the personnel most frequently responsible or just doing better.
I don’t think this squad is as useless as some fear, but Bruno has to find the right formula.
Southampton
I’ve got the Saints down as a team we definitely need to be finishing above.
I just don’t think you can lose influential players like Ings, Bertrand and Vestergaard from a team that didn’t perform that well last season and expect anything but pain.

However, they’ve had a solid, borderline impressive start and it’s already apparent in their performances I might have written them off too soon.
They haven’t won a league game yet but four draws mean they come into the game ahead of us in the table. Neither of the Manchesters could beat them and they emerged from the Etihad last weekend with a cleansheet to demonstrate their resilience.
They’ve brought in two players to help fill the void left by Danny Ings. Armando Broja has come in on loan from Chelsea and £16 million man Adam Armstrong was the marquee summer addition. He’s got 1 goal in the league so far, which by Wolves standards makes him Alan Shearer.
Mohamed Elyounoussi is also back from a long loan stint at Celtic and has looked useful in his outings thus far.

The home end
Some views lifted from the pre-match thread on Saints Web.
If we had more of a goal threat I’d be expecting to win, but wouldn’t surprise me if this is 0-0 until the hour, then anything could happen. An early goal would make a big difference IMO.
Wolves really were awful last weekend. I can’t see them playing that badly again, but their attack is really poor. Mark a slightly cautious Jiminez well and it doesn’t even matter if you let Traore cross. A loss for either side and it looks like a really poor start to the season for that club. So I guess another draw is very likely. Another 0-0 seems the most likely score but I hope not. Armstrong and Adams need to pick up rapidly.
Nothing less than 3 points for me. Need to get a win on the board quickly now, not just for the points, but confidence as well. After the way we imploded last season I worry that we won’t show a lot of fight if things do start to go wrong. If we can get points from City and Utd, we’ve got to get our first win against Wolves.
We’ve played much better than I expected at the beginning of the season and our four points could/should easily have been more. We looked a proper team against Man City. If we can keep the energy and confidence level up at home we can win this. On the other hand, I’ve watched Wolves games and they have been ridiculously unlucky not to have got more points as well – they have the highest expected goals ratio in the league apparently…so some poor mug is going to get that game when they start converting their chances. You know where this is going. Hope I’m wrong.
Wolves
Is it worth sacrificing some fluidity for greater impact?

The above would be more of a kamikaze approach, but if we’re committed to attacking football then why not? But it does seem like Bruno has settled on a back three with the wingbacks getting forward, so I’d be surprised if that changed all of a sudden.
I do think Boly, Podence and arguably Dendoncker should all come into the side to give us that fresh impetus. We might lose something elsewhere but if we don’t do better in both boxes, we’ll continue to struggle.
Raul hasn’t looked himself inside the penalty area, so Hwang could also be considered if Bruno really wanted to shake things up and put his own stamp on the team.
Last time out
After losing to Southampton in the FA Cup a few days earlier at Molineux, we travelled to St. Mary’s and picked up what felt like a seismic victory to keep us well away from the bottom three. Pedro Neto won it for us with a sumptuous solo goal.

It was all square at Molineux earlier in the season when both teams were doing considerably better. Again it was Neto on the scoresheet for Wolves cancelling out Theo Walcott’s opener.
Predictions
Nobody predicted a 2-0 defeat to Brentford last time out but a few did get the result without the scoreline. Ash K and AveburyWolf lead the overall Prediction League table at the end of Gameweek 5.

Up The Wolves!
Personal plea: I’m running the Manchester Marathon in a few weeks and looking to reach my fundraising goal. If you can spare a few quid to sponsor me, it would be greatly appreciated. The link to my sponsorship page is here.

There are some screaming relegation already but that’s premature. The Spurs game showed we’ve got major deficiencies but enough in this group to be competitive and there’s no reason we can’t regularly pick up results.
10 wins and 10 draws is the minimum for survival so we need to start chipping away at that objective.
We’ve won here on our last two visits, coming back from the dead both times. Is it fanciful to think we’ll win again?
It would be very nice to get ahead for a change, but I’ll settle for a goal and avoiding defeat minimum.
I personally don’t think the relegation fight talk is too soon. When you have 3 points and 2 goals (one an own goal) after 5 games… That is relegation form if ever I seen it. It is also highly justified to note that Lage is way, Way out of his depth in the prem. I hope I’m wrong. But I just cannot see us getting any leverage or momentum going. Not sure where points are coming from this season.
I have my ticket for Newcastle. Will be my third game this year, Lets hope 3 time is a charm.
Fair enough mate. You’re right about the current form but as I said, I just think it’s a bit early.
It seems like for a lot of people if you have a bad result it’s relegation and if you win a few, Europe becomes the aim. There’s a big gap in-between and although I don’t rule out anything, I still believe we’ll be somewhere in that pocket.
10 games is enough to determine which third of the of the table you can expect to be operating in. If we’re in a similar or worse position then, we can call it what it is.
Yeah it’s fair enough. I know it’s still early, but it’s the pessimist in me. I love wolves, and I live for football but the early signs are there… I just hope it clicks and soon.
Shake up time is here.
Saiss, Marcal and Coady would struggle to get in any other Prem team, and need the kick up the arse dropping them would provide.
Raul, Adama, and Trincao need a similar boot rearwards, although full sympathy must go out to Raul, he is trying too hard at the moment.
Our league top scorer from Korea needs to start, with Danny the Pod and A.N Other up front.
The basics were missing for a long time on Wednesday, trapping, passing, marking etc., and if we can’t get those right, we are doomed.
However, not being a gloom merchant, and never predicting a Wolves loss, I will plump for an extremely narrow 5-1 victory for me babbeez!
Fowb
Christ on a bike, we’ve got to get lucky in the box soon. Southampton are average. This could be the day…
We will struggle this season but hopefully backs to walls mentality will kick in and we’ll put in a few shifts.
If we’re still unable to get fresh faces in at the next transfer window then we will be in trouble possibly.
Still early days and still premier League so happy ish days
Going for a 2-1 win. Got to start getting more points on the board and get some momentum up.
I get a sneaky feeling that Coads may be getting a shock in the not too distant future.
Please give me something to cheer about boys as l sit in a Corfiot bar in the resort of Arillas on Sunday.
Sitting in a bar in Arillas on Sunday is plenty enough to cheer about Graham.
Lucky beggar!
Where’s that mate…
Sounds lovely wherever it is … and mine would be a GUINNESS….
So next time you’re Molineux bound look us up and I’ll happily accept your offer…
I didn’t read too much into the first half against a strong Spurs side. So many changes, we could not settle and the awful injury to Mosquero handed the opening period on a plate for Tottenham. The stirring comeback and Big John’s exceptional performance at least restored some confidence in the lads ability to battle. The conundrum regarding goals will stay with us, despite one Saints supporters misgivings above. Unless Raul is showing signs of returning confidence in training sessions then I would leave him on the bench. I like Thomas’s starting line-up but Hwang to start and Fabio in Trincao’s role- the latter is a luxury atm where points are imperative. Trincao is not a goal threat, lightweight and does not battle. Fabio would be more effective in the No. 10 role. Draw for me.
Think it is just to fit in Podence. Trincao will suit the less space roll with his feet over Silva in my opinion
Going for a win but I don’t believe it . All this fast passing intense football is great until we lose the ball and then we are wide open . I like Bruno lager but his inexperience in this division is showing. Players will want away and 4 years of building is about to go down the pan .
London Wolves … you seem to have the same vision as me mate regarding Bruno…
Hope I’m wrong but have this nagging doubt as to his Premiership credentials…
No doom and gloom then.
I think we’ll struggle.
Sorry, but my pessimism has yet to be lifted over the start of this season. Hope for a win, take a draw, expect a defeat…
Yeh, I reckon your scorecast will unfortunately be there or thereabouts Mildenhall.
So I’m in agreement.
We really need to win this one, never mind the draw. For me, I’d bring in Podence for Traore. I’ve always liked his feisty nature, plus he can score a goal. For all Traores pace and excitement, he has very little end product. I’m sick of watching him race down the wing, only to more often than not, boot it out of play (spurs game) or miss the target completely (most other games). Bring in Dendoncker, who has more energy than Moutinho (his free kicks and corner taking are woeful), A N for Marcal ( the pen he gave away was unforgivable, he had already been warned). Hwang Hee Chan must play from the off with Jimenez. We must win this one
Please dog let me be wrong
It’s rather alarming what is happening at the moment, but we’ve been here before. I think Matt is right though with his prediction of ‘wantaways & 4.years work being undone’
Is it too early to say this is a must win? Given the Manc 2 struggled to find away through, doesn’t bode too well for current capacity not to score. Got to go with my heart and a narrow win. But, for all intentions it’s got nil-nil written all over it…. But, hey if that happens it’s another point on the road to 40.
The comeback on Wednesday showed promise but the manner of us finding ourselves 2down in the first place was worrying.
However, we carry on working on the new style, or we revert to the tried and tested which many criticised under the old regime.
We have some excellent players and will do well when the cogs are meshing correctly.
Unfortunately, that patently isn’t happening just yet.
No score draw is our best outcome I reckon…
Too soon to be a must win but I have a feeling this is a pivotal game for both teams.
They both need a win to avoid slipping into the relegation zone. If someone on the coaching staff have succeeded in getting the message to Traore that crosses low and accurate work best then there is hope. (If not perhaps we should get what we can for him in January which would be a shame).
Hoping for a win.
I quite agree with one of the comments by the opposing fans, in that the game is likely to be at 0-0 for quite some time. I am hoping we eventually sneak a goal and then defend it for a narrow 1-0 win.
I hope Bruno read my previous comments and got the team some extra shooting practice 🙂
I recently bought my 5 year old son a Rubik’s cube. It only seems like yesterday when they first hit the shelves. It bought back fond memories, spending fruitless hours trying to get one side matched up.
It was very satisfying once one side had been solved. Unfortunately, within minutes that feeling turned to frustration. Inevitably, trying to solve another face meant the first face disintegrated.
It wasn’t until I’d bought the book, studied it ( no You Tube in those days ) and mastered the winning sequence that I was able to complete the seemingly impossible puzzle. Practice, patience, practice.
So, here we are. Sixth game in. Bruno Lage could be forgiven for thinking he has inherited an apparently impossible puzzle. We have Raul up front. He’s clearly not yet at the level he was prior to his awful injury. And he’s becoming frustrated. Does he play him or try something else ? Hwang Hee-chan is showing speed, strength and an aptitude for knowing where the goal is. You’d think he’d have to start. But what about Traore, our main threat ( minus the aforementioned aptitude) Trincao and Podence ? Daniel has made a difference to the team since returning. And Fabio ? He needs game time to develop. He won’t get that on the bench. Who starts ?
Despite Ruddy’s performance v Spurs, Sa will start as he’s done little wrong so far. But Coady – will he be benched ? That’s a big call. Boly and Kilman should start – Boly needs minutes and Kilman has been excellent, despite Toney getting past him on the wing.
Marcal – I can’t see him starting. But what about Dendoncker ? He had a good game midweek and you’d think he’d be chomping at the bit to be a regular starter. Neves must be a starter but with Moutinho ? Or Dendoncker ? And the wing backs ?
Do we stick with 3 at the back and keep the focus on possession and attack ? That’s generated great stats, except the most important ones. Goals and points. Or put more emphasis on defence, caution and game management and try not to lose ?
And here’s the problem. What has been attempted so far, as attractive and exciting as it has been, has simply not worked. We have scored 1 goal in 5 Premier League games ( plus one own goal ). Whilst that erodes our confidence, such a lacklustre attack does the exact opposite to the opposition. We don’t carry a threat. So Southampton will feel emboldened.
That’s the puzzle that Bruno needs to solve. Who does he drop? Or does he stick with the same starters, shape and high press?
It’s said that only a fool sticks with the same approach and expects a different result. But this is football. I for one don’t care how we do it. We could peel all the stickers off and stick them back on again. I’ll take any win, dirty or otherwise. Just bring home three points. Give us something to build on.
UTW
Rubik’s Cube? Nothing simpler.
All you need is a bottle of turps and some superglue.
The rest is easy.
When the turps is drunk and the glue sniffed, you are flying so friggin’ high, the cube will be rainbow pschycerdellicky coloured and so many different shapes it will blow your already bollixed up brain!!
Guess where I’ve been this morning, and had an IPA on an empty stummick?
Ha ha
Fowb
I like the analogy Muttleigh. Unfortunately you can’t complete a Rubix cube if pieces are missing. Fosun’s inabilty to deliver on Bruno’s transfer requests means he can’t use the combinations he wants that will solve the puzzle
Listen u wolves fans, stop moaning and groaning, get behind the team, give the guy a chance, watched wolves in bathi era, people want instant success, enjoy the ride, team off international players, sorry for rant, more beer, wolves aie wolves aie we.
Simple 2-1 Wolves.
Is it too early to start saying those calling for Nuno’s head were a little short sighted? For all of Bruno’s attacking flair so far the results are worse. The problem very rarely is the manager it’s usually the failure of the long term strategy for the club.
The Mendez Revolution looked great for a while but the limitations are now showing. The premier league is the hardest league to stand still in as all of your rivals can match and beat your spending. Get a few transfers wrong and you can drop like a stone.
Nuno was great at generating performances out of a threadbare squad. However, our failure to strengthen and expand that core led to last years slump when injuries finally took their toll. Now we have a much less experienced manager and squad and we’re expecting a major upturn in fortunes?
I think Southampton, in grinding out results against United and city, showed a resilience that our squad is missing. We may be prettier to watch but we’re easier to break down and I expect that will be our undoing.
Chester I agree with you the fact it appears Jeff and FOSUN have canceled “The Project” would have effected Nuno in fact it did effect him that’s why they pushed him before he jumped it affected him badly the last 12 months.
It would have effected his successor who ever that was indeed anyone that was given the job I suspect privately Bruno is a bit pissed off because the goal post were moved on him by Jeff.
I can’t predict a loss only 5 games in (or ever tbh) so my eternal optimism says we’ll turn a corner with a 3-0 win for Wolves if Bruno rings the changes with Ait Nouri (he can take corners!!) replacing Marcal, Dendonker in for Moutinho Hwang replacing Jiminez, Podence replacing Trincao. UTW!
I have been consulting my Guru and he has said that if we all predict a win and wish very hard, we will pick up three points on the South Coast.
Unfortunately, I should have told you all a bit sooner.
I see that negative waves have been emanating from Bloggers.
So I will just have to wish even harder on my own.
I don’t care what team Bruno picks. If we play anything like we did against Spurs (in the League) and Manchester United, we will get a positive result.
“Don’t hit me with those negative waves”. (Which film?).
Donald Sutherland in Kelly’s Heroes.
One of my favourite war films.
We need a battling performance.
“A Sherman Tank can give you… an edge”.
We’ve got the next best thing.
Just hope he learns how to cross a ball.
At least those fans dedicated enough to travel to Southampton won’t be negative I hope. I still remember that time we played well there and lost 6-0 ! And won our next match. I agree with the Saints fan who said we’ve been ridiculously unlucky unlucky, and this could be the game when we start converting our chances. The club have given Raul every chance to get his mojo back, but it;s time to start with Hwang, who could be the ideal partner for Adama. Marcal was stupid with the hugging and deserves to be put on the naughty bench.
A nervous 2-0 to us.
so unlucky I said it twice !
The Pessimism in me says we’ll draw……( take note)
The Optimism in me says we’ll win…
The Muscadet in me says we’ll slaughter the beggars at St Mary’s.
So which one is it..
We played ok on Wednesday and had a few big guns still on the bench…
The Southampton of today lack the metal of John McGrath and Hugh Fisher.., so we’ll just breeze through there defence like a dose of Andrews salts and score our usual 2 goals away from home…
As for the Saints … they’ll still be marching out…… not in…!!
Hwang and Jimenez (coz scoring at St Mary’s is easy peasy for him…)
Having just finished a Facetime with M’Lud, and seen his empty wine glass, I think the Muscadet has it.
Looking forward to seeing you next week.
Cheers mate!
Art student graduates always had a good eye for detail young DOOG.. and so it has proven to be so…
Great chat mate and looking forward to seeing you both next weekend.. oh.. don’t drink all of that Remy Martin I saw…!! ….Wouldn’t mind a little snifter of Quality Brandy….
Best wishes from her and his Lady and Lordship…xx
Podence and Hwang have to start I say may be even Dendonker I’ve not been his biggest fan…….still needs to put his considerable frame about but being out of the first few games seems to have given him the kick up the arse Nuno never got round to.
I’d take Raul out of the firming line and if Podence is struggling later on as he is coming back from injury then bring Raul on.
Marcel has to be dropped also Sais with Boly back and Coady in his natural postin we should be better equipped to cope with whatever Southampton throw at us…..he said.
I just like to point out those who are saying Bruno hasn’t a clue about the Premier League you are right…….and in some ways that might be an advantage. He has proved he can be ruthless u like Nuno when it comes to players not pulling there weight he needs to be given a chance 5 games is not the time to be calling for his head…I think he has been a breath of fresh air the style he wants to play is attractive and entertaining he just need time to get his way of doing things across to the players that going to take more than 5 games it might take a season.
At the end of the day Bruno was the first to acknowledge what we all new even before Nuno left the squad isn’t big enough or strong enough in some areas and Bruno told his boss……….it’s not his faul he didn’t listen..!
As always the question it seems, which Wolves team will turn up — we really are inconsistant!
I rather see Bruno ball far more than that awful dross served up for most of last season! I have never given up in my life, and I am not giving up on Wolves or Large, no, sir, not that easily.
The first three games have shown we have the ability to perform at a reasonable high level, and the potential is there. I am confident and optimistic, we will show up. And the goals will come!
Spaces must be found for Boly, Podence, Dendonker, however it is done. Raul will Come good!
Wolves to win!
I really like Lage and what he is trying to do, but not at all convinced the squad at his disposal (which is basically the same as last year give or take) is going to be able to deliver the performances and results on a consistent basis.
Nuno had that pragmatism to grind out results but will Lage? Is a high intensity, high press style possible with no one to bang in the goals?
The Saints are no mugs and I would bite your hand off for a draw right now.
Lose this and things don’t look good. Let’s hope it’s more Watford than Brentford. A return to form for me.
.
My heart and head are in conflict as many others. Sod it heart has won
This is a game against a side , like us, not good enough to be top 10 but hovering above the bottom 3. A point is ok at this stage.
I would go with a back three of Boly-Coady-Kilman for the next few games because it’s balanced and should cope with the opposition coming up.
Semedo needs to be our wing back and has to start delivering goals and assists.
Ait Nourri is on concussion leave but showed on Wednesday that he is developing a good attacking game and a sensible hair cut.
Put Marcal on the goal line for corners and everyone else mark a player of similar stature, Podence to take the other post as there will be no one for him to mark.
It’s winnable but both teams and supporters will think the same. Avoid defeat is a strong feeling.
Prediction
Don’t know what to predict after the showing we have had so far, though it is far too
early to be pondering relegation.
Saiss + Marcal must be dropped, Boly and Alt Nouri to start instead.
Dedonker deserves a start, as does Hwang.
Give Raul a rest and bring him on later with Daniel Podence.
And send Fabio out on loan as he is nowhere near Premier standard.
We can and should get points from Southampton, whether we do or not is pure speculation
Che Adams will be looking forward to roughing us up on Sunday in the style of Toney and Wood/Barnes.
We have to cope much better with the physical challenges we will face over the coming months and I’m not sure we have the answer in Coady and Saiss to name but two.
I still can’t see us scoring more goals than we let in this season, so my glass remains half empty at this stage.
I can’t predict another defeat. But I can’t see a win either. Maybe a goal each. I don’t care if it’s an OG again.
Dan
One thing for sure is this won’t be a goal- fest common sense is telling me to register a 0-0 or 1-1 score line but what the hell. I’m going all hung ho and predicting a massive 1-0 win
It’s a ‘like’ from me, if only for the typo!
Bloody predictive. After I’d posted I thought I’d found that elusive Chinese superstar Fosun have been searching for.
The one with the massive todger? No sorry, that’s Lung Lo.
Hung Lo
Brompton.. have you bin drinkin..
I think Saints are strong enough to give us grief…
Can only see one possible result here
Come on you wolves
I think the Rubik’s Cube is easier than trying to predict our results at the moment.
1 – 1
Someone will get hit soon
Confidence in the whole team must be affected by the lack of goals. The Traore contract issue must also affect players. Wish he would play like the first three games again. Now loses the ball too much and just stands around sometimes.
The injury to Mosquera is a major blow as reduced our options.
Am staying in Bournemouth so off to the game shortly and hoping for the early season performance but with a goal or two.
No points as yet but can’t predict a Wolves loss.
Blonde moment. Tomorrow not today!
Not picking on anyone in particular, but I wish all the “Bruno has no Prem experience” brigade would stop and think logically for a moment.
It don’t matter what walk of life one chooses, everyone has a first day on the job.
How can you get experience if you don’t start?
Yes, it would have been nice to get someone with a bit of Prem pedigree, but we haven’t, so give the guy a break, get behind him and the team and see where we are at the next transfer window.
If we are not performing well, and new blood does not arrive, then use your anger and vitriol against them what make the decisions, not the bloke with one hand tied behind his back.
As one of my exe’s said about me, it can only get better from here!
Fowb
Nuno had no premier League experience
The one main thing that will destroy the confidence of any team is when they feel the pressure from what should be the twelvth man .
Being nervous of making mistakes won’t help….
Well put Clive……could not agree more. I’ve come to realise that the players and the manager need our support they try there best which is all we can ask.
It’s those above that are the problem….enough said.
Just one of them?
And she was right…. Lol
I do hope bruno isn’t being bullied into playing silva .
He needs to be sent away somewhere to toughen up a lot , Hereford would be good , not the football club the sas training camp.
Will we play like the second half against spurs ?
Probably in the second half.
By then we will be in deficit again by two.
We know we can now score so i see a draw .
I think we may see a very good game here as long as silva is no where near it !
just got to dig in and ride the storm
still not panicking just yet , achieve 7 points by next Saturday teatime would be good
I think we’ll come flying out of the traps with Jimenez putting us in front inside 15 mins. They’ll score just before half time and we’ll go on to win it by scoring from a set piece on 65 mins. We’ll deserve the win and talk of Europe will be back!
Bit vague don’t you think.
I see Lawro’s put us down to lose…….which means we normally win.
Thank’s Lawro..!
Would play Boly and Kilman and if a 3 it will have to be Coady (boatman would have been better)
Dendonker and Neves midfield
Feel sorry for Jimenez who should not be slated on s m threw his head shield off in frustration at Brentford but surely just has to get used to it as it must be too big a risk to play without it
Expecting a typical Wolves comeback display after the Brentford debacle
Who knows. I certainly have no idea what Wolves side will turn up. I just know (or should I say believe) that we will try!
Hoping for a win but expect a draw.
We’ve got to stop giving away stupidly ridiculous goals (and penalties which generally amount to the same thing) but on the basis that we will still struggle to score it’s a bit of a bore draw for me with Bruno’s team morphing into Nuno’s.
Who on earth would follow a team whose name is shortened to Soton?
Someone from Soton?
Quite a lot of criticism and implied criticism of Bruno beginning to gather momentum already – lack of experience, tactics, subs etc.
For god’s sake the man asked for players and the club didn’t provide, same with Nuno. Alex Ferguson would fail in these circumstances. Until Shi and Fosun change their attitude things aren’t going to get much better,
There’s an excellent interview with Bruno in the Wolverhampton Express and Star, in which he explains in detail his thinking, strategy, formations, team selection, which may help those criticising him to understand what he’s about.
Can only see a win here.
We have to start scoring at some point. It might as well be this match.
Doog my husband was actually watching that film a couple of nights ago & said exactly the same phrase to Tipton Exile today about some fans. Great minds obviously think alike! Maybe it’s the graphic design aspect!
Border, if you look closely at the bridge building scene in that movie, you will catch a glimpse of Dooglegooder posing as an extra.
He is the old one!
Love it!
Win this and we’re mid table…
Things will get better…but unfortunately may be not just yet.
Finally some clarity on VAR ..its been put in place to overturn offside goals that Liverpool score . Thank goodness that Mo salah could get his hundredth goal while they were getting battered by the unfashionable Brentford side
The side that battered us.
Yep … those ones
It starts here and now!
KA/TNs
It’s simple ..
Must not lose.
The game today at Brentford puts into a little perspective our performance against them. No mugs, that’s for sure.
In my earlier prediction, I finished off by saying that I hoped Bruno gets stuck into the team to prectise their finishing and shooting from outside the penalty area. Well God Bless Wolves TV, they put on a video showing the team practising their finishing. Good I thought !! Bruno is listening to me !
Sadly all there was to see, was some fancy passing through a VERY static defence (metal figurines) and shooting at an unguarded goal (4 sticks) from 5 metres out.
I so sincerely hope this video was highly edited not to show our practising free kicks from outside the penalty area and other set pieces. Otherwise, I despair.
Up very early on a Sunday can only mean one thing a long away day. Last two performances have been worrying it would be nice to see a return to the early season form.
No confidence in this team yet.
In every League game we have played this season, one team has scored 0. Saints stopped Manchester City scoring, so I guess it is us with the zero again.
This game has become of great importance now as I feel the pressure is building on Lage.
Team selection will also be a dilemma after Wednesday’s game.
I’m still very positive as despite defences woes we are playing well but need to find the killer instinct.
Once again, I’m deflated by the previous League result.
Once again, I’ve left it until the last minute so haven’t read the other comments (yet!).
Once again, I’m not giving up hope.
I felt and acted similarly. It can be soul aching to support a football team. Hope we are right…
I’m still not judging until the first ten games have been played, but it’s a hard road to travel down at present. Watching Brentford yesterday puts that self inflicted, what’s new, result into some sort of context. Confidence in obtaining results must be being affected, but a win would soon change that.
I would certainly like to go with two up front, Hwang and Jimenez and four at the back, but do we have the personnel to suit that system?
I am going for a win but without real conviction; our play in many of the games warranted better dividends, but many, understandably, tend to be affected by the last game’s performance.
I’ll be interested to see if Raul sticks to his form of protection, adapts it or goes without because he evidently thought movement in contact with the ball affected his accuracy with that header hence his frustration and throwing off of the guard. Who knows?
At least we will have the usual noisy, supporting band of brothers there to urge the lads on, none to be bettered.
I am going fora seemingly optimistic three-one win.
Interesting question Debenham – “do we have the personnel to suit that system?”. Over the more years than I care to remember of my day job, I did my share of recruitment and often asked much the same question. I suppose footballers do their work in public so it ought to be easy to weed out the no-hopers, but there aren’t many jobs where fitting in with the prevailing style of the company isn’t important. I did work for one company who believed in not letting people settle in one role for too long – so, after a couple of years, the quality manager became the production manager and vice versa. Suffice it to say that they were not the most successful firm I worked for. That honourfell to the one who employed people who knew what was expected of them, gave them the authority they needed and left them to get on with it with a minimum of intervention. I suppose the football equivalent would be not picking Moutinho to play left back.
I suppose the question for us – at least til January – is actually “what style do we have the players to be able to make a decent fist of?”
Anyway,I have no idea how things will go today, but am just hoping it’s the day we find out colective shooting boots.

For some reason eason the forecast didn’t take!!!!
A win please…
So tempted to catch the match at the Clarendon but my dodgy knee – someone shoot me – suggests I would be better advised to get a day pass from Now TV. So, it’s the sofa and a Hobgoblin or two for me.
For me, its Raul and Hwang up front, complemented by Podence and Traore. Last week’s aberration notwithstanding, I think Marcel should start. He does gives us a bit of grit, but pity about his crossing.
I’ve no idea if Wolves will win or lose but when it is all done my glass won’t be half empty.
I downloaded an app ‘potato streams’ that was recommended to me. Better than hesgoal.com so far.
Might blame it for Podence’s erratic passing though.
Cheers mate. See on Saturday.
Hoping we don’t self destruct again
Come on Wolves!
Worried
A point won’t be a bad result away…
2 keepers on the bench?
Is BL trying to tell Fosun anything?
Just seen the team lineup!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Adama,Trincao,Neves benched. I sense now that if (when) we lose Bruno will be on his way out.You read it here.
Ha ha . Pillock
Greetings,
Like how the Nylons have brought it to the Prem. That was a minor classic v the Scouse yestarday. How they dominated the game with 38% posession against US was a lesson.
Best ‘expected goals ratio’. That’s a hatrick for Traore and 2 off the bench for the lad, 2 each for Hwang and Jimi. Thats 9. A number the Saints will be all too familiar with in relation to Midlands clubs they thought were dogs.
The Saints havn’t been the same since Mick Channon left. A feeder club for Liverpool.
All good in tha hood. 1 lv.
Very interesting team ? And bench
Come on you wolves
Late to the party this week but this is one of those games. Either 0-0 or 17-14 to WWFC. On reflection I’ll go Saints 14 WWFC 17.
31 goals coming up second half.
If I was Bruno, I would take Marcal off because he is a liability.
Move Saiss to left back.
Put Boly on.
Take Podence off.
Put Traore on.
Then we will win.
Your right doog, marcel having a shocker, unfortunately we don’t have sit Nouri so he stays on
Podence off – tick
Traore on- tick
Let’s hope we get our second before they equalise ?
Traore to score
Not pretty, but 3 points and only just down the road to get home.
Well it wasn’t 17-14 but 1-0 will do very nicely. WELL DONE LADS. Wolves ay we!:
He’s back…
So pleased for Raúl. That is a striker’s goal.
Si Senòr

Today isn’t about wolves
It isn’t about 3 points
It isn’t about us lot
It’s about Raul
Get in there mr Jimenez
I agree, in principal. But I also like my 3 points lol
” Come on me Babies”. …………….Raul is back it was pretty couldn’t care less we’ve played better and LOST………don’t give a shit 3pts and a Raul goal………he needed that……we needed that………this could be the break through we have been waiting for.
I’d just like to say a very speacil thank you to Marl Lawreson keep tipping us to lose ” Lawro “
Well said mate. I noticed that as well. Plonker. He said we would beat Brentford and lose to Saints. What a knob!
Cheesey, I disagee with your comparison between Mark Lawrenson and a Knob.
A knob is useful, has a purpose and ladies care about it.
Whereas Lawrenson is not useful, has no purpose and the ladies hate him……
Lawro is our lucky mascot.
Tie him to the top of the South Bank

Poor nuno may get his cards tonight if this continues
Yes. I fear for Nuno. He doesn’t deserve this really. But when you get spanked in a fierce local derby the writing is on the wall.
Just ask Big Mick McCarthy.
Great win today. So pleased for Jimi and WWFC general. Get home safe boys.
1 lv & COYW.
You are right there Rasta mate.
Well done Bruno and the team and particularly to Raul Jimenez- delighted for him. Performance overall left a lot to be desired- so many misplaced passes but it doesn’t matter one bit because we have played a lot better and got nothing out of games.
I will say that is 6 points from the previous 3 games which entirely acceptable. Glass half full ay it. But a massive win today. Sneak a win v Geordies and suddenly a very satisfactory start to the season.
