Not so much the cosy club these days, but the cut-throat corporation.

While I’m still in denial about Diogo Jota leaving for Liverpool (for up to £45 million with add-ons apparently), I still know which version Wolves I’d prefer, no matter how tough a transfer like this is to take.
Where once the likes of Edwards, Batth and co were consigned as a comfortable clique when treading water in the Championship, we’re now dispensing with one of the most talented kids to ever play in that league, in an attempt to ride the crest of a wave in the echelon above.
And while I can just about see the logic of doing so, I feel it’s a mistake and one we’ll regret.
The super-sleuths among you may have seen it coming when listening to Nuno’s interview after signing his contract extension. Tellingly, he said: “If our players go to big, big clubs in the Premier League, it is a sign that they have been working good and hard. What we did in the past can only show us the way in the future.”
Forty-four goals in 131 games is in the past now, as were some virtuoso displays that genuinely took the breath away. To obliterate the championship (alongside the limited Bonatini and mercurial Cavaleiro) at the tender age of 21 was an effort of freakish proportion. In fact, I can think of no other player of that age to adopt such a fearless approach to that notoriously obstinate league from Satan, which has chewed up and spat out many players of bigger reputation and stature. As was always the case with Diogo, he never took a backwards step and faced it all up with the effervescence of a kid in an amusement arcade. Our Pinball Wizard.
Memories of a Bolton pummelling at home – featuring a no-fear emasculation of Clogger Wheater – are still fresh, as were unplayable Premier League displays away at Newcastle in 2018/19, home to Leicester City and Brighton last year. And then there was the magic of the FA Cup.
But were they too few-and-far between? While I remember his brace at the AMEX with such fondness, I forget he hadn’t scored in the nine games before that fixture and in the 10 games after it. Nuno wouldn’t have.
And if adopting a Moneyball approach to the side as we know it, Adama Traore made 13 goal creating contributions (four goals and nine assists) to Diogo’s eight (seven goals and one assist) last season, including a handful of performances as wing back. Tellingly, Pedro Neto was beginning to contribute during this time, too.
Maybe Traore has joined the ‘sacred cow’ club over our beloved Little Wolf, who most would have classed as unsellable once. But maybe a replacement of similar electricity will really put the project into fifth gear?
As Nuno added: “A lot of people have been, a lot of people have come in. The team has evolved; has grown as a squad. It is something normal in football. Players go to different clubs because they need to, some of them want to. When new players come in, the project is moving forward.”
If a replacement hits the ground running – or Podence and Neto live up their own infectious levels of promise – then there might be method to this apparent madness.
It’s a big ‘if’ though and if you were putting me on the spot, I’d lean towards the madness.
Aside from his tender years which his performances have unfairly consigned as irrelevant (he was born after Euro 96 if you all want to feel old), you sensed his best was yet to come. A quick-fire hat-trick against Espanyol suggested he could poach like the best of them in time, while slaloming runs Old Trafford and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (if memory serves) were the stuff of a Life of Riley soundtrack and a Trevor Brooking superlative, had they ended in a goal. You sensed that such netbusters were just a drop of the shoulder away.
Rather than a glass ceiling which Doherty, Cavaleiro and Costa had surely reached, Diogo was approaching the tip of an iceberg. His recent goal for Portugal was more evidence of that, in a barrelling run and finish that became his bewitching trademark.
Maybe imitating a player that many of us would call our favourite is missing the point though.
“The standards are very, very high,” said the gaffer.
Vamos Diogo and thanks for the memories. You’ll never walk alone.

Ive asked this on the last post so apologies
But if we sell for say £35 million
Sold doc for £15 mill and got approx £30 mill for costa and cav doesnt that leave us about 45 mill up with what we have spent so far??
Im hoping for a creative attacking centre mid and a right back.
The money we got from Cav might have gone in part to buying Podence. But we got a total of 10 million in bonuses from the Cav and Costa sales because both teams were promoted.
A very good player but always struck me as somewhat petulant and very argumentative if things didn’t go his way. Put in some brilliant performances in his time but could then put in a few not so good. I wish him well at Liverpool (if he gets a regular game) but not against us.
Last year I stated that I think he wasn’t going to cut it if we wanted to take the team to the next level because of his inconsistency.
If we can use that money to buy a star right wing-back, and if Neto and Podence can continue to improve, we will have done alright on the deal.
Seemed like someone who didn’t cause trouble in the team and tried. Very hard to be a superstar every game you play, unless you are Ronny or Lionel.
When a club like Liverpool come calling and Diogo has his head turned and he wants to go (I am assuming he did) then to me it is quite simple. You don’t want to wear the Wolves shirt so off you go. Having said that there is sadness as Diogo was part of that euphoric transformation over the last 2 or 3 years. But I have no bitterness towards him. I wish him well. You have to hope that Nuno and Jeff are taking us in the right direction during the new phase of our evolution. If there was any doubt about that Nuno would surely have shown reluctance in his new contract. Tim Spiers confirmed Nuno wanted assurances from Fosun about the direction in which we are heading. You have to trust Nuno is part of the process. Still 17 days to go in the market. Let’s see what happens.
I see it as a sign that we will have the RWB we need to release Traore up front. At our stage of growth and development, we don’t need 4 high quality wingers with Traore, Neto, Podence and Jota, particularly now that we have a second striker. With only the EPL and FA Cup left for matches, someone was not going to get many minutes, so 45m is good compensation for the likely on-field minutes lost.
Very sad to see him go, but I was also very sad to hear about Bully’s retirement.
Bully never had his head turned by riches at other clubs, home or abroad.
I accept that football has changed mightily since the 80’s and 90’s mainly due to the influx of so much filthy lucre, and club loyalty is by and large a thing of the past.
However, I am still old school enough to think that Diogo might have bitten off more than he can look a gift horse for a stitch in time.
Or something.
If he don’t hit the ground running and score goals from the off, he might just find himself with more bench splinters in his arse at Anfield than he had at The Mol.
And those “wonderful” koppites will turn on him in a heartbeat.
Still, good luck to him, and just as with Matt, thanks for the memories.
As they say
The King is dead, long live the King.
I am alright with this. Diogo has been brilliant for us but now moves on. Podence and Neto are becoming just as good if not better. As I said in another thread players will leave and better will arrive. Don’t get me wrong I am sad to see him go but as Ben alludes to we are now a different club. Jiminez will leave, Mountinhio will leave, Neves will leave. Sometime. If replaced with a higher calibre player then I am happy.
I thank Diogo for his time at our Club and wish him all the very best.
Wolves ay we.
I believe ffp may have something to do with this transfer.Back in January l read somewhere that if the club can raise 50m in sales then it allows the club to spend 3 times as much.Lets see if that’s the case. Also are we getting short on the 5 home grown players in the squad? I know the under 23 s can count but if they are not up to the level required, then that must be a priority too.
When nuno said the squad isn’t complete and while the window is open anything can happen, I had a feeling it was with players going as well as arriving.
There still maybe a late offer for more of our guys but if we keep traore, neves, Jimi Coady then I don’t mind jota moving on.if we get the rwb.
I loved watching him rip up the championship though and the goals against Villa and Man U will stay in the memory, good luck to him .
Utw
Sooner or later it was going to happen, one of our ‘big guns’ was going to say ‘tchau’ to us.
With him expecting his first child in February, it’s an ideal opportunity for him to move on, rather than wait until the family are settled.
The word ‘family’, along with ‘pack’ has been used so much when it comes to this current Wolves team, the departure of Diogo feels like a family death/separation. But as with real family tragedies, time will heal the Wolf.
Business, I guess is business, as they say, and on paper this is, for Fosun, good business. A hefty return on their investment hopefully leaves them in a favourable position regarding further purchases. Whether it turns out be a good deal for Wolves, remains to be seen.
The arrival of a talented young rb, once hyped ad the next Virgil van Duke, is for me the most interesting part of this transfer scenario. Losing ‘The Doc’ wasn’t the best start to the transfer window, but the addition of Hoever will lessen the blow for sure. Again a profit for Fosun.
So Jota departs, but sitting in the wings are three very capable, but different types of player. Podence and Neto ooze class, pace and trickery, whilst Silva is a goalscorer/poacher. The next few months will see the fans, either celebrating the deal, or berating Fosun for their desire to return a profit in their investment.
I seem to remember the departure of one Mr Barry Douglas, had the fans banging their drums of disapproval, and then one Mr Jonny arrived.
Goodbye Diogo, thanks for the memories and your help in getting Wolves to where we currently are. Yes you will get games for Liverpool, especially when Sala and Marne leave for the African competition,. but when they return, I see you warming that bench again.
Now what Wolves need to do now, is re invest further. Money in the bank doesn’t win you games or trophies. A big name signing would take away the initial hurt many fans will be feeling, for me Memphis Depay or similar. Not similar Ruben Dias.
Oh well, 45 million return on 13m investment, added to the Doc, Cav and Costa deals show us all what Fosun are really about… if ever we needed reminding.
All part of the odyssey we are on I guess, Mr Homer.
Indeed, and what an odyssey it is becoming. To think but a few years ago, every season we would often be worried about Wolves’ achilles., not so much these days. Now all we need is Nelson and the young midfielder from Barca, plus a n other and we’ll be set fair for another decent season.
I think it’s a bad decision. But if a player wants to go, what can you do.
We better sign at least another 2 or 3 players of real quality, or I’m going to start thinking we’re just a stepping stone club to the poxy so called big 6 who I dispise.
Poxy big 6. I want Wolves to be one of them
Gutted about this
We even agreed to get only 10% of fee this year apparently
See what playing e sports with TAA got us
Neto and Podence may turn out ok but only ok and Podence height will always be a – in my opinion, will be horrendous watching Diogo knock them in at Liverpool and clipperty being called a genius which he will be.
Why do we always sell before we buy ? Leaves us exposed on incomings.
Lack of Diogo goals contributed to our missing out on champions league spot and wonder if he has had his head turned for a while
This is one transfer that does not sit well with me
You are a fan who annoys me. Moaning. Our club has changed. We conduct business differently and I have NEVER seen us play so well. I am loving how Wolves conduct themselves and believe totally in Fosun and Nuno. They have not let us down yet.
Moaning ?
Crikey ?
We are all entitled to our opinion
Yeah you are right everyone is entitled to their opinion. But you did appear to be moaning.
Another opinion of mine is that if Neves plays any further back he will be in goal
Not “moaning” just an opinion
‘We even agreed to get only 10% of fee this year apparently’
Doesn’t matter. The banks will lend you money against guaranteed future income. Don’t know why but I have a feeling Fosun know what they are doing when it comes to money.
I accept that players sooner or later will want to move on. I accept that sooner or later the club will receive offers they cannot refuse. I also accept that the club may need to sell some before they buy more. Peace. I have no issue with that, much as it may be disappointing when our favorites move on.
What does ruffle me a bit though, is that I’m not convinced the players we’re bringing in (so far) are necessarily upgrades. so I am still trying to understand the “improvement’ part Nuno talks about. Not trying to be negative, don’t get me wrong. I wouldn’t trade this Wolves team for the world compared to where we were not too many years ago, We’ve had three remarkable seasons!
But I don’t think anyone can deny it’s a very interesting situation if the agent and owners themselves allegedly get large cuts themselves from the players they buy and sell. I suppose that’s called business … but it feels a bit like a “player trafficking” business at times. I don’t see the top four teams selling their best players to buy speculative 18 year olds.
Our squad is not complete yet so I’ll reserve judgement. But if we’re talking improvement I’m expecting we should be challenging for top 4 and Champion’s league … have we improved our squad enough for that with the sale of Jota and Doc? Or are we going to convince ourselves that a couple of extra points at the end if the season and missing out on Europe is sufficient improvement?
OK, in full disclosure I admit I’m miffed cos I have a Diogo shirt 🙂
I agree with you thus far as even the guy we are getting from Liverpool is not PL ready so we have added two youngsters there with him and Fabio .Unless we add some proper experience before October 5 I think we will have regressed .
Still we have to trust Nuno and Fosun in past form as they have got far more right than wrong .At least we are getting a proper fee unlike the Doc fee which was at least£10 million too low .
I agree on the new signings- all seem to have potential- but no guarantee of success as they are young. Look like an eye on resale value rather than instant improvement of the starting 11 to push us up the league this season.
The big six just keep on swallowing the rest. Sad to see Jota go, other than Neves definitely my favourite player.
But evolution is the key, it just doesn’t do to get stale and team dynamics have to change, recycle etc. It doesn’t do to get overly sentimental, life teaches us that!
From the kit pics and his greater involvement in set pieces with Moutinho against Sheffield Utd it seems very much as if Pedro Neto has gone right up the food chain at Wolves, and with Nuno. There just isn’t space for all of our favourites, my family is from Liverpool and my brother a supporter so I’ m glad he’s gone there above one of the other big six.
I hope we don’t lose more because it seems one out the door and until someone shuts it others follow. Jimenez leaving would be too much to take, so I was glad to see him sporting the new Portuguese kit! But I’ve not yet seen one of Adama in the Portuguese red.
Liverpool are legion at parasitically feeding on other teams, I think there’s an open phone line from there to Southampton who they have fed off more than most.
But it was ever thus they bought Alun Evans off us in the late 60’s and then he turns up at Molineux, I think a week later, and bangs in two in a 6-0 victory for the “mighty reds”! I recall they also bought John Wark off Ipswich Town because he’d annoyingly always score against them!
Yes Fosun, Mendes etc are corporate business operators first and foremost, and it’s good business for them. For Jota too, he could shine even brighter. I hope he does but not with a brace v us at Molineux. Look forward to more signings, maybe someone older than 18. We really desperately need a solid RWB, Hoever at 18 may not have necessary experience yet to fill the Doc’s boots. But I am sure Uncle Jorge will find us someone before October 5 th, as he must be very happy with his latest returns on his business with our beloved team.
Interesting times indeed. Going to be one hell of an interesting season, I just hope we return through those turnstiles in numbers before the seasons out, as once football is back with its lifeblood, the fans, things will be getting back to some semblance of normality. The empty terraces are surreal.
Traore’s pic in the new strip is now on Twitter
Phew! At least we’ve got a temporary RWB! Just seen it myself.
It’s Diogo, not Diago……..
I do love the guy, not only as a player but as a person, he was never scared of tackling any oncoming Cardiff, Bournemouth or Burnley thug, he never pulled out of the tackle or shirked the challenge.
At the end of the season on the last home game, I always Leave the confines of the Upper tier of the North bank and go outside and enter the lower tier to take my 11 year old grandson to see the players. He’s a Neto fan but also likes Diogo. Last season 2019/20 Diogo came right by us to see a young fan who was holding up a piece of cardboard asking him for his shirt, he came over, had a photo and told the little kid he would be back because his shirt was filthy from the game. Off he trotted and true to his word, he had gone all the way to the dressing room for a clean, fresh, new one. If that was not enough, and with his team mates enjoying the spectacle on the pitch, he then agreed to stay there and get a photo with my Grandson. A small gesture, but one my Grandson will remember for the rest of his life, jus as I did, when as a teenager I piled onto the pitch and got the Doog’s shirt all those years ago.
But, as mentioned above My Grandson likes Neto, that’s in part to the fact his grandad raves about him during the match too, so there is a trade off in losing such a genuinely nice bloke like Jota. My Grandson and I love him, I respect the guy for his work ethic as a player and 100% fan commitment and we shall both miss him. But, he’s on his was, he leaves us with great memories of dumping Shaw on his arse on the way to scoring and we shall take heart that Neto is an amazing replacement..
Good luck Diogo, you’ve earned your opportunity and owe us nothing on your £13m fee.
My favourite post in a good while Stu.
Sums it all up nicely.
For the moment the storm clouds seem to be over Molineux. But standing still is no answer. We all know stagnation is a painful place. Selling players at what you call “ the right time “ is an art. Time will tell. Moving our club forward and onto better things is not always a straight line or forward path. But this is business and however much it hurts at the moment I’m right behind Nuno and Fosun. We need to replace even enhance Jota’s goals. This will sure be done with an experienced player. At the same time it must for us be a player still to reach his peak or that should be the goal.
Good point previously how to solve any issues with FFP. Keep moving that problem further down the road.
As long as the ends justify the means. Our main problem atm is we don’t have European football. So enticing proven players better than we have in ready made replacements is understandably difficult.
A tricky 3 weeks ahead, get 2 talented lads in namely a RWB and striker in and we’ll be moving forwards again.
Finally, thanks Diogo and good luck for 36 games a season.
The Reuters report that Blanksy drew our attention to a few weeks ago made two basic points. Firstly, that a few years ago Fosun identified global football as a very profitable area in which to invest. Secondly, that they specifically saw buying and selling players as the only way to make money from it. If these are true then in my opinion there are only two unanswered questions. (1)What level would they like to take Wolves to? Presumably, the higher Wolves go the greater the profit to be made. (2)To what extent is the journey to be self- financing? As I have said previously, I believe Fosun would have been open and honest with Nuno on both counts, to be otherwise would be self-defeating and I very much doubt Nuno would still be at the club if he hadn’t been given very positive assurances on each of them. Enjoy the journey everyone !
A very interesting analysis in the Wolverhampton Express and Star this morning from Sky Sports Johnny Phillip’s, who is also a big Wolves fan. Basically saying Nuno pulls all the strings regarding the players he wants. Also touches on the role of Mendes and Jeff Shi. He finishes by saying there is a RWB lined up ready to sign. So log on google and have a read. I think it does provide the assurance the fans are seeking.
Yes, I’m with you Cheese, I met Johny on Wembley Way before the FA Cup semi final, he’s a proper fan like us, part romantic but also a realist. We’re in a different world now, rubbing shoulders with serious global players. In every walk of life, China means big business. We, as fans, develop a relationship with players but Fosun see commodities . Fortunately we have Jeff Shi and Nuno to act as a link and while they are in place we’re not going to fail. Better to lose Doc and Diogo than certain other players and yes again,we need to bring in first team players not prospects for the future, our rivals now are (Everton, Arsenal, Spurs) all stronger than last year while at the moment, we aren’t.
Just a personal thought. Since the return from lockdown the 2 most under-performing players (imho) were Doherty and Jota. Jota was my favourite player but lacked the consistency that I think Nuno expects. He is not afraid to move players on, Afobe, Douglas, Cavaleiro and Costa if they do not come up to his exacting standards. Doherty, great going forward but not so great at defending and Jota, whilst absolutely unplayable on his day, had too few of them. If it can be believed £45m plus add-ons for a part time player who was not guaranteed a place in the team or even from the bench any more is brilliant business as long as it is reinvested in quality replacements. Under performing at Liverpool brings greater pressure than at the Mol but good luck to the lad and thanks for the great memories.
Hear hear
Here here!!
Spot on Mel. My thoughts exactly.
Shame, but onwards and upwards.
Farewell diogo jota and all the very best of luck for the future. You have served us well and we can have no complaints.
However… if we hadn’t had the automatic replacements in neto and podence i would not be so forgiving but we do and that’s why diogo was let loose.
He would not have gone to a smaller club and the fact its liverpool surely is a golden opportunity for him to hit the world stage a lot faster than at wolves only time will tell on that one.
I would expect at least one marquee signing before the window shuts maybe two.
I don’t see that there is cause to doubt fosuns intentions as we have now moved into the big boys club and our players will come and go so don’t be surprised by other moves that may happen.
Yes liverpool dont sell their best players (at the moment) because they are at the top of the tree and why would any of their team want to leave but even they may circum to ffp eventually.
Great kid who has done really well but i do believe neto or podence or both can be equally as good or even better so cheers diogo thanks for everything.
p.s well done fosun nice big profit
He’s given us some some exhilarating moment since his arrival at the Mol. The goal against Manure when the ecstacy of the moment seemed to overwhelm him briefly and he leapt and stamped his feet in sheer joy. The trick and amazing run against Spuds before setting up Raul. Moments that will live long in the memory.
Unfortunately, they had become just that. Moments. His general play had become slowly less penetrative and effective and his confidence levels were slowly draining away. Time for a move??
I sincerely hope the move to Anfield will help him reignite the fire that burns so brightly within because few can match him on his day. He deserves that. He’s a guy that wears his heart on his sleeve and no one can fail to respect his commitment to the cause. I do fear though, that game time will be rather elusive and when he does get on the pitch, rustiness may inhibit his performance.
Good luck for the future Diogo.
He had definitely lost his mojo last season despite the excellent goals scored in the European matches. I particularly liked Diogo’s attitude in the Championship season when defenders took it in turns to kick him on and off the ball and yet he was always willing to take the battle on. Will always be a wolf to me but it clearly is time for him to move on. Klopp was looking for a like for like replacement for Lallana and Diogo now has the opportunity to force his way into the best team in England. Good luck and thank you.
Best of luck to Diogo. He has done a great job for us and we have made a significant return on our original 12.8m investment. The intriguing part of this transfer for me is not the should we have sold/ not sold question but rather what we will now do with the money if anything? As fans we will all want to see it reinvested but the fact we appear to be only receiving 10% this season, there may well not be a lot to play with. If we do spend further, are we going to invest in established players to balance developing areas of the team? As good as hopefully Vitinha and Silva turn out to be, I’m hoping that we are also looking for players of the calibre of patricio and moutinho to help us through what may well be a season of evolution and transition
Thought this was/is going to be when we got a champions league spot
Will never have a better chance just having the league an fa cup to play in
Nuno at press conference was back on we have a small squad
3 weeks back he was “we need more players” which I took to mean a stronger bench
We wait and see
I’m gutted, Diogo has been my favourite player for the last 3 years, I’ve loved his bravery, passion & his goals. I’ll miss him. But as Cheesy said if he doesn’t want to wear the shirt then I wish him all the best for the future. But my son supports Liverpool which rubs salt into the wound a bit.
He’s given me some great memories, thrashing Bolton 5-1, his overhead kick into the net against Pyunik & his hat tricks.
I was torn between Diogo or Raul on my shirt this season, Raul won so now hoping we hold onto him.
I’m assuming that, (as our squad now appears smaller than ever), Fosun have new players ready to be announced that the news hounds have failed to pick up on. I don’t believe they would sell Diogo without good reason.
Farewell Diogo, thank you & good luck.
I’m as nostalgic as the next man and have loved Jota’s barnstorming runs over the last 3 years. Sadly as has already been mentioned they have become fewer and fewer.
As in all walks of life there comes a time to move on, be brave and make changes. This is probably one of those moments for both Wolves and Diogo.
I’ll feel proud when I see him play for Liverpool knowing we’ve played an important part in his journey and when we eventually get to watch live football again , whenever he revisits Molineux I’ll be giving him the standing ovation he deserves.
Good luck Diogo. Onward and upward for you and us,
I’m not sure about the varied comments about Diogo not wanting to wear the shirt. Who says this is the case?
Nuno has just signed a new 3 year contract and I believe he is more than content for Jota to move on because of his inconsistency and the fact that Neto is potentially going to be much, much better.
I like Jota but the deal makes good business and footballing sense.
I’ve seen nothing anywhere to indicate Diogo was looking for a move, though he could have flatly refused to go I guess. Not likely though if the club were happy to cash in and ‘pool were prepared to cash out. Kinda obvious where his best future would lie.
Ah fuck him
If he wants to get his hair permed at the back and walk around nicking car stereos while wearing a shell suit , that’s up to him
CMON YOU MIGHTY WOLVES
That’s ma boy.
Funny as Farouk.
Nice one Matt.
He could always make a few quid extra by looking after parked cars and maybe stealing a few hub caps.
Well that lightened the mood
Careful Matt. I wouldn’t want you accused of ‘stereotyping’.
Love it Matt. No stereo typing going on at all??
Like most on here sorry to see him go but life goes on. If he no longer wanted to play for Wolves so be it, thanks for the memories we will move on to the next hero.
I have a very unhappy grandson this morning when he found out the news, but he then commented that his Diogo shirt was getting too small anyway. Correct attitude in my opinion.
As I said to Border when she was having a text rant to me welcome to the real pragmatic world of top class football. We wanted it, we now have is and see one of the downsides of it. Liverpool are a lot larger beast than us so he has taken the opportunity, who in all honesty can blame him.
Just hope we spend the money wisely and bring in some more good players.
Onwards & Upwards
Tim Spiers latest tweet couple hours ago is the decision to sell Jota was pre planned before the season started. He also says there will be no direct replacement for him but that Wolves transfer business is NOT finished yet. Watch this space!
Unbelievable and a mistake……why……I mean why. First Doc now Jota doesn’t make sense.
I thought we were building for the future not selling just to make a profit because on the face of it that’s what it looks like.
We should be bring players in not selling one of our best. And who the new guy never heard of him….?
The squad has lost a valuable member which to replace would cost the same amount that we received for him……madness.
And I know he might have wanted to go once Liverpool came in but still…..
Have we a replacement lined up or is it like when we sold Doc no one identified to replace him.
The worry is will Adama or Raul be next these players you just don’t find every day.
What’s the bigger picture here because it looks like we are willing to sell anyone if the price is right.
That’s not building a team.
I’d never heard of any of them before they came to wolves
You’ve been going round with your head in the sand then, London.
So you and only you had heard of willy bolly , raul himenez , jota , Ruben neves before they signed for wolves .?
.. I ll keep my head in the sand thanks cos I won’t be able to smell, your Bullshit there
No bullshit, just a football supporter.
A bullshitter .
You knew nothing about portuguese reserve team players before they came to wolves
So don’t pretent you did cos your bullshit is obvious and you are making yourself look silly.
You probably haven’t heard of Semedo either. You’ll be saying Moutinho was a Portuguese reserve next.
I do know him because I’ve seen him playing for Portugal , but most of wolves recruits at that time had been in and around Porto and sporting reserves ( no matter what their nationality.. do tell me .. where we’re you getting your in-depth information about Porto s reserve team players when we were in the fucking championship? We’re you reading Portuguese papers ? I’ve looked and it’s quite difficult to find much info on pottos reserve games
Or have you only started following wolves recently?
And why were you following Portuguese fringe players before they came to wolves .. ?do you follow all Europe s fringe players in all leagues ? Must take up all your time
that .
Ok .. yeh sure . Whatever
Still think your full of shit
I do know him because I’ve seen him playing for Portugal ,and jmountinho was a later edition and well known but most of wolves recruits at that time had been in and around Porto and sporting reserves .. Jota , neves ..f Miranda lbonatinin. No one had heard of any of the.m except of course fucking you ( no matter what their nationality.. do tell me .. where we’re you getting your in-depth information about Porto s reserve team players when we were in the fucking championship? We’re you reading Portuguese papers ? I’ve looked and it’s quite difficult to find much info on pottos reserve games

Every team sells if the price is right, Paul.
I will attempt to put my slant on wolves not buying the direct replacements you are calling for.
During the first two seasons, but especially the second, we regularly substituted the forwards either side of Jiménez with similar players. The intention being to change our fortunes in a game either getting away from us or never having a foothold in the first place. The fact is, for me, this rarely worked. It was predictable, and teams were already set up during those games to deal with it. Jota most recently has been the least consistent. And that pains me to say, because I was there to see him score three against espanyol. But you could say we already had too many forward players of his type.
The team is evolving. And as supporters we all have to accept that this is the way Fosun and Nuno want to do things. I’m glad I’ve commented now that Nuno has spoken directly about the confirmed sale. I find his words reassuring. Why? Because I trust him, I believe what he says, and most of all I believe we are going in the right direction. All this despite the sale of two players that got us to this point.
Until we are languishing in the bottom half of the table, for large parts of the season, I won’t have a lack of faith.
Jeff once said we should enjoy the journey we are on, and not just celebrate once all is achieved. I personally cannot see what there is to gain from agonising over these moments. It may be a bad decision, it might be the right decision. Whichever way it falls, it’s still part of the journey.
Good luck Jota. And for one last time….. DIOGO, DIOGO, DIOGO!
“Not so much the cosy club these days, but the cut-throat corporation”????
Letting a player leave if he wants to is now cut-throat? Was he forced out the door or made available?
I see the glass as half-full! In fact, the glass is totally full and overflowing. Jota has provided us with many wonderful moments which we will cherish forever, but he was inconsistent. Neto, Podence and Jota were often fighting for the same spot on the team. However, we have bought 3 very young (and good) young players. Not enough to take the team forward this season. An experienced signing is a must! It will happen. Farewell Deigo, farewell!
It’s Diogo, not Deigo.
Exactly right Tom.
And Bruno j and shabani .. up and coming attacking midfielder s . And the lad that’s just done his a c l ..
All teams sell players. Barcelona are said to be making their Portuguese international Ruben Semedo available.
Are they a feeder team to the Premier League or just selling a player in order to bring in funds to buy someone else? Or are they just selling a player who the coach no longer feels is in their plans?
Man U – or is it the owners of Man U – sold Ronaldo. Are they a feeder club?
One problem is that Jeff Shi is so clearly a Fosun person that we have trouble deciding if the purchasing of players’ contracts are a Fosun thing or a Wolves thing.
Jeff bragged about how much investment Fosun were making when we signed Silva but I don’t see him making a statement about how much they are taking out of the club when they are selling Diogo.
Does it not go both ways? Shouldn’t we wait and see how things balance out before he gets up and says they are investing because, as it stands, no they are not. And unless they are investing more than a few million, then it ain’t nothing to get up and take a bow over.
Not that I am complaining or anything.
Think I read a few days ago from Fosun that they were pleased with there investment in Wolves and Shi had told them he did not need additional funds
Nelson Semedo, not Ruben.
We only still have one reconized striker in Raul. We have brought in 2 18 year olds and a 22 year old all have no experience of the Premier League .
Is Silva ready to step up if Raul is injured or sold is the 18 year old from Liverpool ready to step into Docs shoes.
Most clubs in Premier League have got there replacement players in by now and we have brought in two 18 year olds plus the other lad from Porto we have only brought them for ther potenial and the lad from Lyon. That’s 3 in total and we have let 3 the squad is not bigger in fact it’s the same but with less experience.
We now need to consentrate on bring in some experience recruits we seen to be obsessed with ones for the future again under 23 are bursting at the seems and it’s noticeable that at the end of last season some of the ones for the future were released loaned out or sold.
We need Premier League ready replacements. Just one more point people of been say Jota,s gone of the boil inconsistent ask your selfs this then, why are Liverpool reigning Champions willing to pay best part of £ 50 Millon for him.
Because they haven’t been watching him week in, week out like everyone on this blog.
Time for moaning, Paul, will be after Oct 5th, not now. Don’t you think Nuno sought assurances before signing his new 3 year contract?
Think Liverpool have most certainly been watching him
As you say by October things will be clearer
Of course they have but so have we, and more importantly so has Nuno. Interesting next 3 weeks, I’d think. That’s foresight, not hindsight.
No offence Paul but you are starting to resemble a broken record. Nuno has made it very clear he wishes to re-balance the squad and become more versatile in our method of play. Judge him after the window closes. He deserves our full support. The player acquisitions have the potential for greater heights than those leaving over the last 2 seasons. That is how we will progress. It takes years of intelligent investment to sustain a top 6 side.
Most clubs in premier league have their replacements in place ! Really!! Who are they then, as your in the know mr negative?
So glad I will never have to sit next to you at a game sucking my will to live out of me ,
Ever tried being positive and trusting the people in charge of our club who are doing a great job btw
Ya never know, you may even enjoy it
Come on you wolves
Stolen from facebook
To All of the conspiracy theorists out there, try reading this, and get a fix on reality. Nuno isn’t stupid or gullible and is key to every transfer in or out. Allow the man with the ability, experience and football knowledge to do his job and stop your continual whinging every time Wolves sell a player. Onwards and Upwards fwaw ??
well said couldn’t agree more ,
bloody armchair managers !
If it weren’t for armchair managers, this blog would be a much poorer and less humorous place.
The side that comfortably saw off Sheff Utd contained neither Doc or Diogo. You don’t know yet how Fabio, Vitinha and Marcal will unfold in a football sense. You don’t know if they are better or worse than Doc Diogo MGW. Nuno is the man who makes those decisions. He hasn’t done too bad so far. Trust him.
Firstly BEN… great to read your posts again and well structured.
I can’t think of anyone who is ecstatic to see him sold and generally big money sales (Purchases) usually involve first choice team players…..
This is not the case here.
As many a memorable moment Diogo has given us, and there have been many, duly listed by others above and his steely doggedness knowing his going to get mugged over by a defending thug… Lindelof coming to mind…
I’m happy to acknowledge that Jotas’ Wolves career does not cause me great concern.
Firstly he’d almost become a fringe player.. given that Neto and Podence are ahead of him in the pecking order.
Secondly…. I believe that to have a great future at Wolves (given Raul as being an exception) then you need to be versatile in where you play and what you contribute.
Thirdly… can anyone give a good reason why Nuno would sign another contract and have the rug pulled from under his feet with Fosun agreeing to this sale without his prior knowledge or consent… coz I can’t.
I believe that the balance of the team based on versatility, potential, options and Nuno’s agreement to a potential rejig of personnel is where we’re headed.
Of course there will be some doubts over better replacements but I trust Nuno’s judgement as to where we’re heading.
We haven’t sold our best player but what we have done is, IMO, filled our spending pot to further develop the team with better potential….. after all to stand still is to go backwards.
I’ll be diligently looking out to read about incomings and am sure that our management team and peers know exactly which path this is taking…. for the good I hope.
So thanks Diogo for some great memories and as Nuno says …
Dreaming is for free… and I’ll add … ‘as long as they’re all £35 Million plus players joining the project….’
Come on Fosun…. bring the new dawn on.
That Mr Twix, is a mini gem of a post.
I bit like you and I admitting to want Helda Costa’s babies…..
As one page in the book closes … another one opens..
We might be on a jolly to Tavistock soon… fancy a socially distanced beer…
Is the pope a catholic???
Not sure, he wears white so maybe a Leeds fan? ??
Wolfstroker is definitely not cut out for virgin white… fact…!!
Fully support the view that for all the great moments Diogo gave us they were getting more and more infrequent. Neto and Podence were looking more likely to be selected. And contrary to what you might expect he has a better chance of starts for Liverpool; beyond their regular front three they have little to choose from. Plus Mane and Salah will be off to the African Cup of Nations for upto six weeks.
Good business for Liverpool, great move for Jota and smart work by Wolves.
Talking about players we’ve sold. Anyone remember one Helder Costa? Absolute gem in my eyes but did go gradually off the boil. To remind yourself of those heady days when he could do no wrong, check out his goal for Leeds today against Flum. Absolute peach reminiscent of Pedro Neto’s recently.
And just to cheer everyone up Sandwell Town got royally bummed 5-2 at Everton this afternoon. Is that 8 goals conceded in 2 matches and yet to play any of the ‘big six’. Loff ay it. Gooin down ay ya…..Loffin me yed off.
Yes, it looks good Cheese but, as we all know, Sandwell are going to be relegated anyway so, personally, I’d have preferred them to take points after a team that may well be close rivals to us. Much as I dislike the baggies, Wolves interests must always come first.
I’m probably one of the first to feel negative about losing a top player but I’m trying to wait and see this time.
Nuno has done almost everything perfectly so on the law of averages we’ll be ok .
And I’ve not had a beer yet?!
Utw
I seem to be on here every 5 minutes today but………. log on to the official Wolves site about the welcome to Hoever and just see what Nuno has to say about the squad and the rest of the transfer market. Basically we haven’t finished yet. Players have been identified and Jeff knows who they are. So it couldn’t be more clear cut. Nuno. Jeff. Official Wolves site.
I loved Jota straight away when I saw the off ball attention he was getting from Cardiff City in the Championship. They thought that he would hide up and be no problem after a few off the ball thumps, but he continued to get up and go at them harder. I shall always revere him for that and his continuing attitude; a favourite player of mine. All the best to him at Liverpool, but I do wonder how much sitting on the bench he is going to be doing at this stage of his career. Hopefully, for his sake, he will make himself indispensable to the starting line up, but I do wonder… Endured the Carabao Cup game and was impressed by Vitinha. Silva impressed also but seems to need more bedding in. He seemed over anxious in the taking of his chances in my opinion, but working with Raul and Nuno will sort him out. Marcal and Vitinho appear to have the class and ability to fit straight in, which is very encouraging. Oscar Burr seemed a trifle nervous but didn’t put a foot wrong. Having seen him play for the youngsters I know he is capable of going past and beating players more so than he was willing to show in this game; feeling his way in, I suppose. It’ll be a tough game on Monday, especially with the little changes we have to adapt to. How many of us will miss the out ball to the right wing which Doc invariably won out on the line to nod on to a forward or midfielder? This was a little, nuanced part of our play which was a given and not always appreciated or remarked upon even by the pundits. Still, onwards and upwards. Those living in The West Midlands, take care of yourselves and here’s hoping for a vaccine in the New Year.
Those of you who hang on to my every word will remember how in the first season in the Premier League, Diogo was having trouble and I suggested that maybe he is being forced wider than he prefers by the new left back who is a right footed player. When Nuno changed to a two-up-front formation, he almost immediately improved and caught on fire.
You will also remember how I commented last year, upon the emergence of Adama that Nuno seemed to be willing to sacrifice Diogo for Adama, by returning to a three-up-front front line.
Nuno has seen the wisdom of my comments and decided he would rather play a three-up-front with Adama than two-up-front with Raul and Diogo.
Therefore, it makes sense to sell Diogo while his valuation is still high since maybe Pete doesn’t have an issue playing in a front three.
You guys are so lucky to be able to read my comments and see what is happening so you can understand immediately why Nuno does what he does.
(Sorry for thinking so much but I do like to find the answers and not wait for someone else to tell me.)
You’re welcome.
Can I have the winning lottery ticket numbers for this weekends draw, please Tim.
Nice to know that when Dr Nuno retires, we have a ready made replacement here, actually walking amongst us, almost like an ordinary man. How lucky are we? 🙂
Good riposte although it will probably be lost on our own ‘ nice but dim’ ’blogger.
I prefer the new Tim. Not the new Tim that is returning back to the old Tim. I thought it was too good to last.
I remember sale of Alun Evans to Liverpool and his return to Molineux hitting 2 in our 0-6 defeat.
He was never a patch on Peter Knowles and things didn’t
work out for him at Liverpool.
I hope it goes better for Jota, but no goals against us please.
Hope history doesn’t repeat itself am old enough to remember Alun Evans coming back in 1968 after being sold to Liverpool and he scored twice in a 6-0 rout at Molineux.
I also attended that 6-0 thumping but standing on the North Bank. Right in front of me was the worst keeper in Wolves history, Alan Boswell who had a lot to do with the scoreline.
Repeated from the previous post but who cares?
As the present Mrs DG’er will attest…
I don’t like changes.
And Diogo Jota leaving is a change too many for me at the moment.
It smacks of the start of the break up of ‘The Pack’.
The Band of Brothers that have seen us through two brilliant seasons where we have upset most of the odds and left many so called Top Six defenders on their backsides in our wake.
Which brings me to one of my all time favourite goals scored by a man in Old Gold over more years than I care to remember.
There have been many absolute crackers.
Waggy’s against Arsenal in the snow… or The Doog’s Molineux debut hat trick… or one of Kenny Hibbit’s rockets… or King John’s clinical finishes…or Bully’s barnstormers…or Raul’s volleys…or any of Ruben’s Worldies…
The list goes on and on.
But the one I remember most clearly is the one scored by Diogo Jota against Manchester United, that magical night at Molineux.
The way he twisted and turned Shaw until he ended on his fat bottom.
The pace he showed and the accuracy of his finish. The goal was never in doubt.
The way he celebrated in front of The adoring South Bank hordes.
Those memories will never go away and will live with me until I draw my dying breath.
Good luck Diogo.
But not against The Pack eh?
Just watched Manure get humbled by Palace. And it was very pleasant viewing. The lesson is they are not that good. Go back to the end of season ”non VAR ‘ table and Wolves were 3rd . Don’t forget that. We are a fucking great side. And we still are. Wolves ay we.
And last night I watched Doherty give away a penalty. Had to smile.
Deeply saddened by the sale of Jota, one of the most exciting players on Wolves’ books.
If Liverpool have been prepared to pay such big money for him, they must view him as one for the future. Why couldn’t he have seen Wolves towards the future and ‘ that next level’. All he needed was some regular games and the confidence that goes with it.
If he is criticised for his lack of consistency, then surely Traore was a more likely choice to leave. Not only is he inconsistent, but he is a more frustrating player, and he’s getting easier to play against.
It’s going to take a World class player to replace Jota.
Spot on
Think from reports Traore was touted round first but no takers at the price
Diogo did go off the boil but seemed to be dropped and this I think is where the problems set in
For me Neto is just as inconsistent and we have to see about Podence but worry about his height in premier football nowadays
Also why sell Diogo and Doherty to your supposed challengers to a top 4 place
Nuno is no fool and clipperty certainly is not so we shall have to see
Note; these are my opinions only and are not meant to be moaning
Neto is only 20 so is going to be inconsistent for a while.

I’m with you and don’t buy into this it’s a good deal for all parties theory. If Fosun are really serious about going all the way then we have to hang on to our best players and as I see this Liverpool have just picked up an exceptionally good player for £45 million who has the potential to become world class in the short term whereas we have acquired an 18 year old (Silva) with one full senior appearance for £35 million.
I’m all for investing in the future but not at the expense of the present and this deal smacks very much of the down side of the Mendes equation who is effectively operating in a fashion akin to an upmarket second car dealer offering a newer experimental model for your 3 year old Aston Martin. As stated by Valencia supporters when this show rolled into town – “beware, what Jorge giveth, Jorge also taketh away.”
To me the above scenario is not an upgrade for the present and is therefore arguably not in the best interests of WWFC. I will be happy to stand corrected if Jota is replaced on a like for like basis (ie, not just by Neto and Podence).
I think financial fair play has a lot to do with the wheeler dealering. We’ve already had our knuckles rapped.
Blimey, pool and spurs are now after our players,
Didn’t that used to be the other way around?
Top six after a month
Wolves
Palace
Leeds
Man city
Pool
Leicester
Once again, unashamedly stolen from facebook, but very apt.
In 2018 Liverpool sold Coutinho for €160 million euros (£146 million pounds). That money was used to fund purchases of Van Dijk (circa £75m) and Allison (circa £67m). These purchases strengthened areas of the team that Klopp felt needed it. Even a club like Liverpool with its history of years in the Premier league and European campaigns could not afford to resist the money on offer, and look what that did for them. Wolves, now in our 3rd season in the Premier league, with two successful 7th place finishes and a quarter final place in the Europa league, are now in a position of transition have sold 2 of their seasoned campaigners in Doherty and Jota. Two youngsters brought in along with a seasoned Pro. Silva £35m (18), Hoever £13.5m (18) and Marcal (31) £1.78m. Silva just nominated for top European accolade of Top Boy, Hoever compared to Van Dijk and Trent Alexander. The memories of Doherty (Doc), and Jota (Diogo) are great but, the club are developing and evolving, and Nuno and his team are behind its development and progress. Other players are being targeted now, Nuno has already said as much, remember it’s us fans that sing that song ‘Nuno had a dream’, so why do I read so much derision of young players, who have barely arrived at the club. They are here by invitation from Nuno, it’s part of his plan. Let’s get behind him and the lads. Onwards and Upwards fwaw ???
Fuckin right Clive. Sin so much negative bollocks all day. Meks me fuckin mad. The fuckin twats should just sit back and see what Wolves were and what we are now. If the fuckin twats cor see it knob off.
Succinctly put Cheese couldn’t agree more.
I’m sure some “fans” hope things go wrong so they can have a good moan.
apparently we need armchair managers !
There seems to be a lot of bloggers in Texas of late. But not many have posted anything better than that. And that includes Clive.
Sorry folks but on the face of it I think this is a mistake unless we have a like for like replacement lined up; we already have a problem scoring enough goals and now sell our most consistent long term goalscorer; Netto may fit the bill eventually but it puts a lot of pressure on young shoulders and neither Traore nor Podence are prolific.
Just hope things are going on in the background as we can’t assume a repeat from Jiminez and his back up is a rookie albeit apparently with huge potential.
Meanwhile good luck Diogo, I said from the very beginning that you had the makings of a world class “no 10” and you leave us with many happy memories.
I would refer you to Stilton’s mild and well worded post above.
I agree with you to a degree. However, if they turn the money into a quality right back (Semedo would be outstanding) then I think it’s a good move.
Apparently, Diogo is on record as saying he liked Everton when he was growing up in Portugal.
Of all of the teams to say you like best when you then get sold to Liverpool.
Not unlike the fact that Doc is an Arsenal fan…
I like Jota and think we’ve been a bit hard on him this past year.
That said. I think this was good business.
£45 million for a player that plays a position where we are deepest. If they turn around and pick up Semedo (like I’ve been hearing – bc all rumors are true, right?) for essentially the same amount of money, they will have solidified their weakest position with one of the ten best right backs in the world.
I’ve calmed down and I love everyone
Apart from Eric fuckin Clapton. The Sandwell twat.
What’s Eric Clapton done to you, miserable twat.:-)
He’s Sandwell Town ay he. Good enough reason to hate him in my book.
“In fact, I can think of no other player of that age to adopt such a fearless approach to that notoriously obstinate league from Satan, which has chewed up and spat out many players of bigger reputation and stature”
Kightly fits those lines more than Jota.
In his first 1-2 seasons before the injuries he was utterly fearless. Bloke from non league just taking every cunt on and driving at goal.
Apart from Mr.Tipton Exile, no one in this string of posts has mentioned the one glaring fact staring us all in the face.
We all, to a man and woman, wanted to join the top table.
And, we knew that would never happen without a mega influx of money from a major investor.
Well, we got it, in spades, and so far we are ahead of the projected plan.
If anyone has the time to check, I am sure that the so called top six, over the past ten years or so, have had their share of player sales which pissed off their fans initially.
We have now applied for membership to join the top table, and are paying our dues.
From the outside looking in, the majority of clubs are green with envy, as were we.
Having got what we longed for, over not the biblical forty days but forty friggin’ years, lets not start throwing our toys out of the pram, and see the big picture, of which we are finally a part.
Roller coasters have their ups and downs, just like the one we are on.
I for one hate them all with a passion…………except the Wolverhampton Wanderers roller coaster!!!
Sit back, strap in, and hold on.
We aint seen nuffink yet!!!!
Fowb
If this whinging and moaning and complaining does not desist on this site I may have to post elsewhere.
I loved this blog because I valued the posts, discussing the current issues and not whinging about how the club has failed and is getting it wrong. Opinions are great. Moaning is not.
Bromto….. I liked your post because … well … I liked it.
Don’t beat yourself up about tossers ( or Knobs as Cheesey puts it.)
Concentrate in the bigger picture…. which being the clever guy that I know you are will..!!
You on the same wavelength as many of us mate…. (203 metres on the waveband).
‘Nils illegitemi carborundum sous’
Translation… from Latin…
Don’t let the bastards grind you down..’
Love your posts Brompto…. love them …
You’re moaning about moaning
… Good tent weather though !
You’re wrong Steve.
Moaning IS great.
But it has to be with the right person
… in the right situation.
Preferably horizontal.
Oooh matron… that’s saucy….
And here’s another question.
From all the reports i read, we get 4.5 million up front from Liverfool, roughly 10% of the total fee, yet we have to fork out over 9 million for The Hoover.
Why?
Are Liverfool broke?
Answers on a postcard please.
Well CfH …. my take on that is … that we desperately wanted to offload Jota…. and…
Maybe to get someone better…
Time will tell..,
Well the hot news is we’re about to sign Semedo from Barcelona…..
Omg… bemused in Texas….
Might be summat to do with FFP. The accounting of ins and outs each year. But that is just a guess.
We got an extra few million (some say 10) by agreeing to take staged payments. And we only paid 5 million up front for Hoever.
My guess is, it’s something to do with FFP.
How times change? Not so long back it was Eggert Jonson and Jenes Dowe. Now it is Barcelona wing backs. Can anyone seriously doubt our owners ? Apart fro Chelsea and Man City our net spending since 2016/2017 is up there on a par with the rest. And still the moaners and groaned go on and on and on. Yawn.
In answer to the transfer payment question it actually doesn’t matter how or when you actually receive the money. For accounting purposes and presumably FFP any transfer fees paid out are spread across the length of contract. So Hoever at £9m on a 5 year deal will show in our accounts costing just £1.8m a year. Any add ons will likewise be spread across the remaining years left on the contract.
Players going out will have the entire transfer receipt shown in the year of sale less the cost remaining. It doesn’t matter if we don’t actually receive it because as a “football creditor” it has to be paid. So Jota signed a 4 year deal in 2018 for £13m fee which is £3.25m a year. So far in the accounts he will have cost us £3.25m for two years so £6.5m with another £6.5m unaccounted for. Sold him for £41m so profit shown in this season as £34.5m.
This doesn’t include signing on fees, agents etc which are treated the same way.
Hope this makes sense ?
Thanks mate. It’s getting there !
Compliments of John Smallman.

Interesting article from someone who has taken the trouble to look further than the bleedin’ obvious. Thanks Brompton.
Hmmm. Semedo or Doherty?
I knew there was a reason why I was not upset when he left. In Fosun and Nuno I trust.
It seems to me if you don’t agree with certain Bloggers on here your a ” moaner ” and in cure the Roth of ” The Flock ”
Keep on Blogging BasherBaz don’t let the sheep grind you down don’t become a other member of the flock…..say what you think that’s everyone’s right whether people agree, like it or not.
It is not a case of disagreeing with another persons view. I am all for that mate, everyone has their own opinion, it is just the niggling about the club not getting it right. We have never been in a better position, ever. So let the moaning stop about the club getting it wrong because they sold Doherty and don’t know what they are doing because they sold Jota. Because, they actually do so let them get on with it.
IMO .
That’s your option Brompton, mind differs doesn’t make me a moaner just means I have a different view to you.
Calling me a moaner isn’t going to change that.
Paul, Paul, Paul.
You are now selling an expired equine.
We know your views, and respect them.
We understand your initial frustrations with selling a couple of players and not replacing them instantly with marquee signings.
But for goodness sake, please give it a rest and move on.
Enough already.
This is a blog, a place for good natured banter and a bit of fun, amongst like minded Wolves fans, not a school playground to drum up support against some big bully.
Have a great day and enjoy the three points we shall get tonight.
Clive I am not talking about selling players. I’m making a serous point and observation which has been going on for a while now.
The ganging up and slurs and of your a ” moaner ” or ” whinger ” terms you have used yourself if you don’t go along with the views of certain bloggers and I include you in that..
No one is going to stop me putting my option across calling me a moaner isn’t going to stop me I’ve come across this type of behaviour before people trying to marginalise and isolated other people with these types of labels.
I come across bullies before and stood up to them and that s what I will continue to do.
Certain bloggers seem to think there views should not be challenged or a posed and when they are there fello bloggers step in to defend them and acuse people of be moaners.
Say anything against Nuno and your a moaner the blokes done a fantastic job but doesn’t mean he is infalable but according to some bloggers he is and the even suggest he is you should be hung.
I’m defending my right and the other bloggers rights on here to give there option without fear of backlash, ridicule or be pigeon holed as a moaner.
I hear you.
Well , not actually HEAR you, but understand.
I still prefer the other bloggers though.
As is your right Brompton and I will defend your right just as strongly mate…?
Paul.
You may well be aware that at the end of each season, and usually prior to the last game, we (us bloggers) gather somewhere in Wolverhampton. Clive and others have flown over from America and Australia etc on previous occasions and we have all gathered and enjoyed an evening together discussing the season. Whilst we are restricted in our movements due to this pandemic, arranging a date and actual location will be difficult, but it would be a pleasure if you would consider joining us once a date is confirmed. As the written word cannot be heard and the personality and character of a person could be misinterpreted, it would be good to meet you in person. Obviously the arrangement, once confirmed, will be placed on this blog nearer the end of the season.
Watch out Paul. It’s a trap.
Nice one Tim. You had your invite, but declined if I remember correctly.
I will try and attend work permitting I work shifts so, yes Bromton I accept your kind iinertation as soon as dates out I’ll check my shifts.
One thing I know we all have in common is a passion for Wolves we have come so far in such a short time I just want to see us go even further knock the so called elite clubs off there Perches I know I’m in a hurry to get there but that’s just me.
All the years clawing our way back to the top it would be nice to top it off with a trophy before I check out.
Before you check out? How old are you? Not the Paul who tried to burn down Rome AD67 surely? lol.
Maybe not but Nuno fiddled….sorry I’ll get my coat!!
Well it’s been 40 years since the last one cannot wait that long again.
Well done Paul, we would absolutely love it if you turned up. We always give plenty of notice on the date.
Brompto is a great bloke, Clive’s a timid mouse, (honestly) Matt is terrific too, and a good egg.
As Steve (Brompton) says, “we are all going the same direction and love Putting faces to the names on here”.
Good man, I for one would buy you a drink, Clive’s a tight arse.
Stu, thank,s
I just want what everyone wants to see Wolves prosper patients as you may have gathered is not my strong point and I do get carried away a bit sometimes would love to see a Wolves captain go a collect a trophy and turn to us fans and hold it up high for all the world to see.
The fact we have come so far ca n be a burden sometime because us fans always want more.
I was thinking about this the other day I was watching Liverpool celebrate winning the Premier League and they were going mental yet in the past when they were winning all the time they just took it for granted like Utd fans did under Fergie.
I thing it means more to fans when they haven’t won a trophy for a while espeacilly when you’ve been to hell and back like Woles have……..or should that be Hull……I’ve been to Hull it’s no picnic.
All talk everywhere about Semedo. Latest tweet was he is to be signed on our books to 2025 at a cost of £29m. If turns out to be confirmed then a great steal and a much much better player than Doherty. I am loving this club and how they are doing things.
I’m exhausted having read the entirety of this blog in one sitting
What a rich tapestry we weave!
I ,for one , am not settling for becoming the new Everton… the one that comes 7th
Yes Jota may yet be brilliant for Liverpool…but he will be playing alongside Mané Salah et al
We’re not there …. but we can get there and to my mind the” Reasons to Succeed” are in place.
1. Smart rich owners with ambition
2. Brilliant manager and coaching staff
3. Mendes… I know I know
4. Top quality players with a playing style that can be unstoppable
5. Fast growing reputation ( most folk don’t remember the 50’s)
6. We fans
Where do we go next? Focus on point 4 above….we sell/ we buy/ we transform individuals ( Coady, Traore, Neto…etc) and innovate playing style
This ride is a Roller Coaster but I’m
Strapped in!
OODCL
PS every mention of Podence says he’s small… is Messi 6’?
We broke yet another record the other day, the third kit (the maroon one) was the fastest selling Wolves kit ever.
Iv’e not really heard anyone say a bad word about it.
Bostin.
In response to Paul above. Mate dont take too much notice of what I post on here at the weekend. I’ve normally had 10 points of lager so I tend to unleash a load of b******s. Like the others have said come along when all this covid crap is over and have a beer. Like you rightly say we are all united by one thing. A passion for the mighty Wolves. Peace.
Ten POINTS of lager eh?
And what do points mean?…
How many have you had now Cheesy?
Yes well spotted. Only had 3 so far. Could be a long nite. Hoping Sheff utd put me in a good mood against the 1982’s in the build up. No work tomoz. Happy Mondays (who I once saw supporting New Order in Birmingham about 1986/87 and they were so good I went and bought their album- and I had never really heard of them at the time). Come on me babbies!
Happy Mondays.
One of my favourite bands mate!
Went to see them at The Cheese’n’Grain in Frome shortly before the lockdown.
Just as good as ever.
Bez is a legend.
Brilliant mate. I think these days Shaun Ryder spends more time riding his bike up and down canals than snorting substances. Bez I believe got in to politics for a bit. But yeah. All those bands came out of punk. Saw New Order loads of times. If they could be bothered (like Wolverhampton civic hall 2007 ) they were brilliant. But if they couldn’t and they were all pissed they were awful (Birmingham 1985).
Oh no, no, no!
Go, go, go Diogo’s gone, gone, gone.
My seventh favourite player!!!
Shut that door! While this window’s open, we’re losing our stars.
So long. Your Dad will now, no doubt, be proud of you.
Good luck. Be successful. Make us all proud of how we helped make you what you are.
I am sorry to read that BOLTON have slumped to 21st in League 2 which is their lowest league position in 143 years. The tears are welling up as I type.
Been there done tan got the scares……..well I don’t think we ever hit very bottom ,
I think it was mid table.
I went there in the ban in 1987. Bloke at work who knew a Bolton fan got us a couple of tickets in their main stand on the side. Funny when they started singing what’s it like to have no fans. And about 100 Wolves dotted around the ground sang We are Wolves. A few startled looks!
I was there too Cheese it was funny. Peterborough away too. We scored and half the stand went up also during the ban… Happy days when I could get away tickets.
Always there wor we . Remember ‘ you’ll never ban. A wanderers fan’. Sound mate.
I reckon Greasies new hair is a product
of Sutton Coldfield council lawnmower department.
Quote from sky sports news.
“Wolves have been in the market since selling Matt Doherty to Spurs, and Semedo is one of the best in the world having played regularly for Barcelona and Portugal.”
Just let that sink in!
First half did for us slow and ponderous secound half we were much better finishing was awful thought we could get a point when Raul pulled one back.
We are a team in transition that’s clear but we need to play for 90 minutes not 45 defence was unsure and shaky.
Work for Nuno and staff for sure total opersite to the Blades performance we came flying out the blocks. Let hope it was a one off and we can put it right at the ” Ham……mers “
Bang on. I also get frustrated with Saiss. MOTM performance v Sheff Utd and a feking liability tonight. As you said, need some work and could have even won if we put our chances away. And Nuno, please stop playing Traore as a RWB.
