Kenny Jackett is unlikely to be an avid reader of local newspapers.

But the results of a midweek poll run by the Express & Star will have made interesting reading.
Because, when asked if Kenny should be allowed to continue in his role next season, the general consensus was that a change is needed.
Personally, that’s not a view that I share but it does reflect the frustration that is burgeoning amongst an under appreciated fanbase.
Once again, we forked out for the privilege of being underwhelmed in the freezing cold. Though the performance was a slight improvement on Tuesday’s debacle, the end result was the same and respite from our mediocrity seems more illusive than ever.
But how much blame can be laid at the door of our Head Coach?
Surely he hasn’t encouraged, let alone orchestrated, the disassembling of the fluid, free scoring team that had entertained us so very much over the last two seasons.
Cast your eye over yesterday’s starting eleven and you’ll find an assortment of players that, despite their willing, can only be considered downgrades on last season’s alternative.
You only need to consider how many players we have tried in Bakary Sako’s old left wing berth to see the folly of our pre and mid season recruitment drives.
Yesterday’s team selection was once again a case of flinging resources out of the pan and hoping that a winning formula would stick.
Forgotten man Tommy Rowe was restored to the nether regions and Joe Mason, quite amazingly, found himself benched just days after his goal scoring debut.
The result of this latest bout of tinkering was another languid display. Though we saw a lot more of the ball than was the case against Bolton, a lack of pace meant we rarely stretched our opposition.
The injuries that have befallen a number of key players have made Kenny’s job even more tasking but that is unlikely to stave off criticism, especially when we are made to wait three quarters of the game for a substitution.
Such perplexing behaviour is enough to make you consider whether our Head Coach is acting out of protest. Though I suspect otherwise, the reintegration of players formerly deemed surplus to requirements is behaviour befitting of a man who is trying to shine a light on the scarcity of his resources.
One resident of the Last Chance Saloon is at least grasping the opportunity with both hands. Bjorn Sigurdarson worked tirelessly in the lone striker role and, along with the improving Ethan Ebanks-Landell and dependable James Henry, was one of the few players that shined for either side.
However, that is but a crumb of comfort in an increasingly dispiriting tale of mid table mediocrity. The board’s seemingly relentless desire to run the club as little more than a profit centre renders a turnaround in fortunes unlikely and an easing of the dissension amongst the terraces even more so.
It will certainly be interesting to see what sort of response is given to Jez Moxey’s impending Early Bird offer. Surely the CEO can’t be expecting a rapturous uptake given the tripe we have had to put up with both on and off the pitch this season?
Periods of apathy are often remedied by a gesture of sorts and one wonders whether last week’s poll may become more prevalent if performances continue to stagnate.
Kenny has been bullet proof up until now but nobody is safe from the axe in this modern day iteration of the beautiful game.
Food for thought then for a man that needs to learn how to help himself during times of adversity.
Because one dimensional play and tactical inconsistencies are not going to capture the hearts and minds of a fanbase that deserves so much more than what we are currently receiving.

Interesting comments mate.
Looking at the highlights:
http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/competitions/championship/10158284/reading-0-0-wolves
We created enough to win it and James Henry should have scored after the goalkeeping mix up.
I fully understand that seeing the highlights and seeing the entire match offer two very different experiences, but I wonder if some fans were heading overboard last night in their criticism of KJ?
Of course we’re not pulling up trees, but what’s realistically fair to expect?
Given what’s left of our tired, trampled squad, getting a draw at Madejski where many teams have faltered this season seems a decent result.
And although I get the agitation over dropping Mason, Kenny wanted to play one up front to get more of the ball in midfield and to me the side looked more balanced on paper, with players in their proper positions.
Questions should be asked over substitutions and why he prefers to wait so deep into the game to make changes, but I suspect he’d have a decent answer.
Sorry guys, but if anyone really thinks sacking the manager is magically going to solve the problems at our club and suddenly transform this group of players into world beaters, I truly despair.
I agree Thomas, changing the manager is not going to solve the problem.
However, if that is the case then why not resign as Head Coach, for the sake of the club and your own self respect?
He is happy to coach with his hands ties behind his back by the owner.
His resignation would bring the problems at Wolves into the open.
Unfortunately, he has n’t the courage to do it.
He’s happy drawing his salary, like Moxey, and staying mid table…….
Well done Ziggy, for at least trying!
If every coach resigned because they disagreed with decisions handed down from above, the managerial roundabout would be even more ridiculous than it is now robin.
I don’t believe for one moment KJ is happy with midtable. I think he’s a pragmatist and knows we’re shy of the quality required to challenge at the very top, but remains confident he can rebuild a team capable of bridging the gap, even with the restrictions he’s working under.
But as I always say, if you’re going to make a change there HAS to be a compelling alternative. When Allardyce was available earlier in the season, I could almost see the argument, but looking around now you’re hard pushed to identify a realistic target who we could say with confidence would do better in our setup.
Thomas…
For me, a good manager, would rather fall on his sword, than work under the restrictions of Moxey and Morgan.
In my opinion, if KJ resigned, citing these ‘directorial restrictions’ as his reason for doing so, everyone would know, what is, at the moment, ‘suspected,’ regarding the lack of ambition, from the board.
Right now he’s condoning that lack of ambition and I don’t respect him for it.
In terms of ‘coaching’, well from what I’ve seen and heard, our attempts to play football are dreadful….
The injury nightmare of our attacking line and and a bit misfortune on the transfer market has indeed destroyed the season for us – not Jackett. Zyro strengthens our team when he retursn. I hope he may resurrect our playoff dream, but I doubt it, which causes me to think next season. Credit to the boys for getting one point away from home against Reading. When the situation is what it is, I think we also should look behind the result – we were the best team.
Hear hear Thomas!
I’ve been trying to get this point across for months.
How many bloggers would resign on a point of principle (and risk not getting another job) if they thought their boss was running the company badly?
And what difference would it make?
Better to try and change from within.
And if you want to get rid of the manager, at least put forward a practical alternative.
Kenny,Kenny, I’ve done a great deal on Mason.1M now and the rest based on appearances.
The main threat from last season, Sako, Dicko, Afobe, hav,nt been replaced. Simple?
I think J. Graham has replaced Sako. His productivity so far is probably better than Sako (average assists goal per game(?)
Mason is another kind of player. He clothes the same role and the future will tell if he can fill the Afobe shoes. Le Fondre was meant to replace Dicko. He hasn’t managed to do that. His game is totally different from Dicko, and he isn’t consistent enough to score goals on a regular basis.
I forgot to mention Zyro.
They are replaced. The problem is that they are all injured.
The result isn’t to be sniffed at, just the nature of our performances. We are so cumbersome in our play it’s untrue. But I do agree we’ve been massively hampered by injuries and board restrictions. As I said, I certainly don’t think sacking KJ is the answer but I just fear he’s going to become the scapegoat for Morgan and Moxey’s failings.
Fortunately missed the first half play!!
Listened in to the last 35 minutes, from what I heard it seemed that Wolves were on top and had more chances than Reading, much better than the Bolton debacle.
It was better than expected, I predicted it would be a drab 0-0 draw but I thought Wolves were unlucky not to get a winner from the second half performance.
We seem to play better away from home than the Mol, perhaps there are more expectations at home?
I’m not entirely anti-KJ even though some of his decisions are ranging from questionable to bizarre.
That said, he probably has the safest job in football in that in order to finish him off some more cash would need to change hands.
Can’t see that happening anytime soon…
As for yesterday, I surprised that we didn’t toss ALF on regardless, given how well the curse of the returning player always seems to work with remarkable affect against us.
See how I have resorted to fate and superstition over recruitment and tactics ? These are dark days indeed, my friends.
Well it was marginally better than Tuesday’s efforts but to be honest served to confirm just how far away we are from being a top half Championship side. Most of our starting line up would struggle to get into any of the top six sides and I would suggest are at best Championship squad level. We are devoid of any sort of class in all areas and have no devil or guile whatsoever about our play.
We need another center half to play alongside Williamson, we are crying out for some creativity in the middle of the park, a left back is a must and even with Dicko to come back we need a quality forward. With these additions the existing players would fill the gaps nicely but I guess until we get new owners what we have will have to do.
I will not protest, I will not stay away, I will not shout abuse at the players wearing the shirt because I am passionate about Wolverhampton Wanderers and can’t help myself!
As a long suffering fan we have seen and heard it all before, even worse, but do you know what? Once the old gold creeps into your veins your doomed, your committed, your lost, it’s hopeless!
I for one will be at the next, and the next and the one after that match and nothing that Mr Moxey and co will do can change that. The club and the indoctrinated fools like myself will hopefully still be there long after their demise.
We are Wolves
I can’t really let that comment go I’m afraid.
You said we are devoid of any sort of class in all areas.
Although they may not be at their best, or are growing into their game Iorfa, Saville, Byrne and (arguably) Siggy are talented, classy players. Add Graham and Dicko on the injury list, and also too soon to tell but Zyro looks a find.
Yup, at the moment we are not pulling up trees, and we do need some additions, (buying Williams was a great decision) but ‘devoid of all class?’ as a fellow ‘infected’ wolves fan (albeit from afar) I’ve got to disagree.
It’s just my opinion but I honestly believe that out of our current squad Iorfa has prem potential but to many mistakes as yet, Zyro I have not seen enough of yet so the jury is out. Dicko on his day may make a Norwich or Palace squad as a bit part player and Graham may make it one day as may Hause, well see. The rest are at best average Championship players or worse!
Sako was our best player and assisted/scored goals in the Championship but what game time has he had this year in a struggling Prem team, before him there was Jarvis. I am far from being on a downer I just think we need to manage our expectations.
it´s little bit too late to see how classy Siggy is.
I agree that sacking Kenny Jacket as manager would be a bad decision, I think he has bought himself time with the incredible job he has done over the last couple of years. We also have to remember that we have lost our 4 best players Stearmen, Dicko, Sako and Afobe. If you took any team in the world and removed the best 4 players they would struggle as well!
I would like to see the rest of this season used to find a balanced team which with a couple of signings in the summer can press next year. I have been impressed with Doherty at LB but really he is a RB, I think Deslandes should be given a chance. We will also see Hause and Williamson back this week, We should see what Saville has to offer, Price should be back in the team and why not have a look at how good Bright really is!!
The above post from Wolfman, is the first to mention Saville, I waited and looked through each one, & correct me if I’m wrong but I think this was his first mention.
He was excellent yesterday, he held the ball up, won it off the opposition, made space, good runs and thoroughly annoyed the shit out of Reading. His best game to date for Wolves by far. I waited for the fans vote for MOTM and true to form it was given to a forward (Siggy), but Saville did at least come second. We tend to look favourably at the forwards if they have a half decent game because sticking the ball into a net is what we go to see. But, even though Siggy was prevented from scoring only by the width of a Reading boot, IMO it was Saville who deserves the plaudits yesterday.
I’m not a fan but credit where credits due, he played his heart out, and what jumped to my mind in the game was Stearman, Saville threw his body in the way time and time again.
Siggy, was wonderful for his condition, and by that I mean for someone whos been out for so long with such a career threatening injury, he put in a great shift, he does not pull out or back down from a challenge and as JerryD pointed out so well, he never gives the ball away, always makes a good pass and never wastes an opportunity. Back withstanding and God willing he will grow and grow and we could have solved the problem of a long missing descent forward.
I had a great day, it was a better performance than Tuesday, I did vote on the Kenny stay-Kenny go and based purely on Tuesdays no show I voted Yes for him to go. But in reflection this was purely a kneejerk reaction from a jerk.
Mason on the bench RVLP instead of Byrne WTF, each time Byrne comes on he sets the game alive, I pay to see exciting football,if the goals come so be it but if it’s an exciting game I’m a happy camper. When Byrne plays he brings that to the table, RVLP has gone back to diving, complaining at every decision against him and was rightly substituted.
Mason???????
Why did we chase after him, has his ACL gone.
A better day, not perfect but certainly better.
I think sometimes we don’t give these players a chance, just because they have been out on loan does not mean we want to get rid of them but maybe its just good squad management by Kenny although maybe its just luck and we need him back lol
Siggy has been that good from day one but KJ is what he is…
I carnt except that this is a protest by Jackett because if it is the only people he is hurting is the fans.
I suspect it more out of desperation and a complete lack of ability to sort out this mess ill remind those Jackkett supporters of his comments at the start of the season ” I will known my best team and where we are going 12 games into the season ” we’ll 26 games in he’s still doesn’t know his best team, tatics or formation and yes we lost Diko and others but have they been replaced by 6 midfielders, 3 wingers one of which got injured the other Byrne he hardly plays loan wingers and strikers have come and gone surely not all down to Therwell.
Again we spend £3 million on a player who scores on his debut and Jackett drops him………work that one out all those who still think Jacketts the man for the job.
I’m not say get rid of him now but if my a miracle someone buys the club before next season Jackett would be the secound one to get his P45 I don’t need to tell you who would be the first…….
!
I tend to agree with both sides of the ” get rid/keep Jackett “arguement.
Yes he has a great record from the last two seasons, and yes this season the selection/tactics/ motivation/substitutions have been baffling to say the least.
As discussed above, there is not a viable alternative apparent, but one has to think, who would suddenly come crawling out of the out of work managerial woodwork if we get sold?
Now playing devils advocate, I would also put forward the theory that our long term injury players need replacing NOW since a) they are out until at least next season, but b) more importantly, there is absolutely no guarantee they will be as good as before, after such long lay offs, and will need lots of time to get match fit again.
I think it will be mid next season before either Dicko or Graham are back up to snuff, and that is far too long to muddle on in mid table mediocrity.
However, as usual, it doesnt matter what WE think, the idiots running the asylum that is WWFC will not listen or do anything.
Kj the hamsterface should stay until at least other more substantial changes occur. He may then be given much more freedom with purchases etc, and he may well tell the world exactly what constraints he has been working under.
Then, if nothing changes performance and results wise, it would be “off with his head” time.
This season is a write off, lets hope we dont go down, and lets direct ALL our anger and frustration at those two who deserve it most.
Oh, and great results yesterday from St James Park and citeh!!

Jerry told me off for elaborating the truth a little on the message he was actually passing to you during the game.
I put him straight though , I told him your’e not as stupid as you look in real life.
🙂
I’m in the ‘new manager ‘ side of things but with a condition , and it’s s big one, it’s on the condition that somebody other than our ceo and owner select the new man !! In other words I’d love a new guy who has achieved more than kj and actually managed in the prem but I have no confidence in our current regimes credentials in appointing such a person, or even being able to match such a persons ambition financially!! So I’m stuck really with actually not being bothered if we win a few games as I actually think lt would be detrimental to us as a club in the long term !! I watched my iPad until about the 60 minutes mark last night and then just couldn’t be arsed. And went to bed.
A not very good game between two mediocre mid-table teams played in a strong wind and heavy rain. Wolves were the better team by far and created much the better chances. If anyone deserved to win it was us.
Defensively we were very solid indeed although Reading’s attack was powder-puff at best. In midfield Coady, McDonald and, interestingly, Saville looked strong. Our problem though was out wide and up front we had very little to offer. Van La Parra reverted to type and Henry managed to miss an open goal – a miss so awful that even now almost 24 hoiurs later I still find it hard to believe he COULD miss! Sigurdasson looked OK and neat but never really offered a goal threat and given that he is our only striker in a 4231 system that’s a bit worrying.
Jackett as usual did his ‘stand on the side doing nothing’ act and as usual we only used one substitute. What is the point of having seven players – including attacking options – sitting there if you have no intention of using them?
Joe Mason in the bench? No idea why. Injured?
Interestingly my Reading based mate who came with me and who has never seen Wolves play before said that our outstanding player was Iorfa. He said Ebanks-Landell was our other Premier League standard player. He also said the standard of football was awful which I can’t argue with. He also remembered James Henry as a young boy playing local club football at the same time as his own son and said at the time he was an outstanding talent. After yesterday he agreed with me that the tears hadn’t been kind to him and that now he was pretty dire.
Good day out as all away games seem to be, nice few beverages in The Three Guineas beforehand and ever nicer Adnam’s Ghost Ship in The Allied Arms afterwards watching the Rugby.
I find it very difficult to understand any ongoing support for Mr. Jacket. The performance of the team, including the entertainment that it provides to supporters, is what he is judged on — and on both counts he is failing miserably. He selects the team. He is responsible for the tactics to be employed. Not one of us I think can have any idea at to just how he sets out to perform either task.
We are short of cash with which to develop the team. Mr Jacket has continually moaned about the dire need for an additional proven striker. We pay three million plus for such a man, and then find, after just one game, that he is immediately relegated to the bench. Did Mr Jacket not fancy Mason, and was he forced upon him ? Or did Thelwell intend that Mason be yet another “one for tomorrow “who can now be loaned out to Hartlepools ?
After the Bolton game, our coach made gave specific praise to the performance of Tommy Rowe [ Quite why he did this I have no idea ] Then, Rowe is relegated to the bench to be replaced by Saville — who having been cast aside as being substandard, is now restored into a pivotal role. Meanwhile, the admirable Price continues to be ignored. Where is there any logic in any of this ? The lack of consistency can only have a devastating effect on the team as a whole.
I believe that Mr Jacket has gone as far as he is able. We will improve only after he goes. But what coach of any real worth and with serious ambition would even consider joining Wolves at this time ? We are I`m afraid stuck with our coach until new ownership is in place, so what we now see, is what we will continue to get. Our consolation must be that if we can continue to pick up the odd points here and there, then at least we will avoid a dreaded relegation battle.
Well Said Mike Great Post
Ask Ourselves..
Are we the Only football Club up for Sale ?
Are we the only Football Club Where the owner, CEO and Board run it as a profit making business first ?
Are we the Only Football Club to get injuries to Key Players..?
The answers surprisingly are NO to all the questions..
I can name clubs playing better football and Higher than us in the League who are all in the same position and haven’t had the cash to spend that we have…
One such Club is just a few miles up the road in Blue Nose land..
This is where the Manager/Head Coach earns his very well paid wages !
This is where the Manager/Head Coach gets the best out of the players that he has available and plays to their strengths, not the same formation / Tactics week in week out..
That’s what good Managers/Head coaches do…
I’m afraid ours is simply not up the task…
Nige
The real problem is that too many of us are prepared endlessly to grasp at straws and make excuses. The draw at Reading was not, as some seek to imply, a good performance. We were just a bit better than the fiasco against Bolton, but still very poor. Ultimately, that performance is the responsibility of the man who picks the team and decides the tactics.
How can any team in our Division afford to pay three million plus for a [ supposed] great striker and then drop him to the bench after just one game ? This is sheer lunacy. If the manager is doubtful that Mason is good enough why pay out mega money for his services ?
The fact is that Mr. Jacket is completely out of his depth. Why do we continue to make endless excuses for his ineptitude ? Yes, we are stuck with him for now, but lets be clear, we can have no real long term ambitions with him in control, whoever owns the club.
Absolutely agree Mike
Almost certainly not the time to get rid of canny Ken. But rather than a weak squad that is going to get stronger i fear things are going to continue drifting the other way. This is partly compounded by Kenny’s restless selections and lack of player development. Can we send everybody out on loan ? What Price he is out the door next ! Incidently thought Rasmin’s piece excellent.
Looking at the list of injured/loaned players we have Williamson, Hause, Evans, Wallace, Edwards, Graham, Zyro, Dicko all to come back. Now, without questioning the quality of these players, we have to ask ourselves whether, with all of them on board, we have a ‘balanced’ squad ? Clearly the answer is no – a shortage of defensive cover, a surplus of players who can play off a main striker and a lack of main strikers. And that is without going into the surplus of wide-men most of whom were in yesterday’s squad.
So I guess a little pruning is required – Rowe to go, ALF’s loan to be terminated once Zyro is fit again, maybe RvLP or Henry to be released. Then we could maybe bring cover in for the areas where we lack it. But I really don’t know if it is Thelwell or KJ’s fault that we have such an imbalance.
Great write up, by the way, Rasmin.
KJ is an enigma… I constantly wonder, and if I continued to scratch my head I’d be going bald like Stu…
The current perlexing one is obviously Mason..incidently what must he be thinking? I know it could be tactics and 433 but one of Jacketts misdemeanours besides unrelentless changing is motivation and coaching support..Mason could be rinsed of confidence too..Wolves style..
He scores on his debut and then sits on the bench.!.Strangely Siggy who took his place played a blinder but why not play them together?
KJ either has personal confusion with our squad or I’m also wondering if he really has had a row with the powers that be and is making a point regarding purchases..
But I’m not sure it’s not natural for him to experience that being an oblivious coach is part of his make up..
We should of won at Reading by 1-0 ..Henry his favourite missed a real sitter and almost categorically by the virtue of now being 10 points adrift commits us to this league nxt season.
His post match comments are priceless ..
Even full up and firing on all cylinders with Williamson Graham Zyro Dicko I’m not sure if KJ is s good enough manager to pull off a promotion chasing season..
The way he comes across I’m not sure if he thinks he can either..
Good point yesterday but we really lost 2……8 points adrift might if given us a chance..
Steve,
You must have watched the highlights, Siggy’s effort was even harder to swallow than Henry’s, he took on three players, broke through and got a brilliant shot away under great pressure, ( look at him fending off the two defendes) only to be denied by a foot 3″ wide and 10″ long.
Soooo unlucky
🙁
I’m in the get rid now’ if we have someone like Pearson to come in,but I know its not gonna happen so we will have to stick with what we’ve got.
On the game apparently it was a tad better than Tuesday nights debacle.
We had a good chance in the second half to score but Henry fluffed his lines.
Apart from that the draw was all that we deserved.
I was listening to the latter part of the match and I couldn’t understand for the life of WHY Hackett didn’t put Mason on for the last 10 mins when we had nothing to lose and a perhaps have won the game.
I for one hope we get new owner’s in sooner that later but with moron holding out for 40 to 50 Million we will have to wait for a long long time, petty he doesn’t let it go for a tenner plus what he’s spent on the training ground, because he’s doubled his personal fortune since he’s been here, regardless what Red row has made him.
Consider this a year to develop home grown talent. Wait until Dicko and others come back and make a run for promotion next year.
I’m guessing that is what the management is thinking but they will not say it out loud.
Strange decisions being made by Jackett. Works on personnel system in training and sends a different side out on Saturday! One minute a player is on loan and the next his blue eyed boy.Like you say is he making a point or losing the plot?
Our away form is up there with the top 2 or 3 in the league. However, our home record is poor. Looking at the top 6 sides they all have decent home form. That seems to be the difference. Removing KJ is pointless at the moment. The club is in limbo. What manager with any ambition is going to work under the current austerity regime ?
Just a thought for those suggesting a change of Manager/Head Coach; who,of any quality is there to replace him.To my mind he’s doing a good job with what he’s got and I can’t see him ‘falling on his sword’ any time soon as I believe pride comes into it.He’s been very unlucky with injuries to key players who, when they do return, will make a massive difference. The likes of Sheffield Utd,Coventry,Portsmouth and others are good examples of how things can go tits-up.So if it’s a case of being where we are or where they are,I’ll take our position thank you.
That’s fine as I’ve said there’s not point in getting rid of Jackett now, but you don’t seem to acknowledge Jacketts part in all this, constant tinkering, tatics formations, playing players out of postion, playing players out of form and ignoring those in form thats why I don’t rate Jackett he’s banged on all season even in the last after match interview about goals conceded, but what’s he done about it 26 games in.
Where’s the coaching after all Jackett was a defender. Press interview after Press interview he keeps pointing out what’s wrong come the next game we repeat the same mistakes.
Everything with Jackett is a Ground hog Day.
Looks like we’re going to have to agree to disagree; I’m for him & you’re against him.Still, that’s what this blog is about, isn’t it ? We all have a say & long may it continue.
Apart from West Ham in the cup we have only lost one league game in our last 9 games .
If Zyro ,Williamson, Dicko and Graham weren’t injured we would not be debating when we should sack a perfectly good manager .
We all know the constraints put on him byJez moxey and co .
can’t get them out so we should get someone else the sack instead ? it’s bollocks

Yet another post match interview in which KJ does himself no favours and alienates himself still further from the fans. I guess his comments can be read in two ways; either negatively by suggesting that he’s in total denial or positively by applauding his strength in the face of adversity in trying to rally the troops.
As to the truth – don’t suppose we shall ever know until he writes his book in retirement. The trouble with an absence of truth is that we all make up our own minds based upon limited evidence.
Love this, Sums up the mood
Tinkering is in the eye of the beholder.
In KJ’s first two seasons, the team won far more than they lost and consequently the first team line-up remained pretty constant. If we’d have seen endless playing around with the team, I’d have been the first in the queue to moan. Unless we kept winning, of course.
Due mainly, IMO, to austerity and injuries to key players, this season has been a different kettle of fish. Poor performances and very indifferent results have been the order of the day.
KJ has to make the best of what he has. If the team, or certain players, perform badly, it’s his job to change things around. What’s he to do? Keep playing a losing eleven in case he’s accused of ‘tinkering’? Not in my book. Team adjustment is part of management.
I’d trust Kenny’s tactical nous and knowledge of his players above my own any day of the week and he retains my full support.
I do wish he’d play Byrne though. 🙂
You’ve contradicted yourself, you’ve said yourself he should play Byrne me thinks your as lost as Kenny….!
That’s very true, but I also said he knows better than me, so I don’t expect him to change his mind, or the board to sack him, because of what I think.
Unless I could save up 40mill and buy the club.
Paul Clement of Derby is taking a sabbatical
:-).
Team adjustment ..?
Ask Mason about that lol..or even Ikeme (first part of season)..then there was Afobe..then there was ….and…then…..
We have a dizzy manager..period.
The point I’m making is that ‘tinkering’ per se is not part of his make up. His first two seasons prove that. He’s doing it now because we ain’t performing and her’s looking for the right blend.
Slight gender discrepancy in the comment above. Tis my ‘Demshire’ accent. Sorry KJ. 🙂
Speaking again from the safe distance of bucolic Gloucestershire: respect to all dedicated enough to keep attending home and away in this disappointing season, and who keep the rest of us informed re issues in and around WWFC. Always, well nearly always, with great good humour and banter.
So from a safe distance some observations on the Kenny in or out debate.
Injuries and lack of support on transfer market, plus sale of best players and has made fielding a settled team impossible.
Tactics depend on circumstances, e.g home or away, weather, style and quality of opposition.
Factors regarding selection could depend on unknown factors, e.g. niggling injuries, health, form and attitude in training, settling new signings into squad.
Can’t think who is available who would see coming to Wolves, given our beloved M and M, as a good career move, especially as new ownership, if not imminent is inevitable.
So stick with Kenny and offer full support to him and the squad.
Many thanks for all the insights and good humour that makes this blog such a wonderful read.
I did not enjoy Saturday, it was cold, wet and, for the most part, pretty miserable. I was shocked to see the positive reviews of Saville. Yes, he gave a better performance than away at Brentford last season but not by much. He took every corner, which all came to nothing and many of the set-pieces, none of them worrying the keeper. The C5 highlights program made it look as though we were a lot nearer scoring than it felt like although I’m certain if James Henry had lashed at his chance in the 2nd half rather than trying to place it, we’d have been celebrating a 1-0 victory as Reading were dreadful. I was actually quite pleased on the drive home that I’m not a Reading fan as they were poor throughout. Sadly, we were not much better.
Is Van La Parra sulking? He was magnificent at QPR when the transfer window was open and having failed to escape is now putting in the typically turgid performances that marked his first season at Wolves. Amazing how his form has disappeared so rapidly.
Very pleased with Siggy, he doesn’t look like a goalscorer but he chased down everything hoofed forward and appeared happy to physically engage with the Reading defence to win the ball. He needs a strike partner up front to work off him but that would mean playing a 4-4-2 formation and that is not Jackett’s style and I’m not sure who can play the role anyway as Mason didn’t really fit in against Bolton and Edwards / Zyro are still a few weeks off fitness.
Ok 6 mins Afobe Paul … Man of vision .. Who are we replacing Kenny jackett with ?
If we did get rid of Hackett, I would go for Nigel Pearson, but the trouble is he wouldn’t last the week ,he would end up decking poxey & moron then we would back to square 1 or worse.!!!!!!
If you read my blog I actually said I wouldn’t get rid of Jackett doesn’t me I think long term he’s going to take us to the next Level.
What I have said is mid table championship is about his level. You seen to have gossed over the facts or ignored them.
The lack of consistency in team selection the lastest being our most expensive buy for a couple of season being dropped after a decent goal scoring debut for ” footbal reasons ” ring a bell.
Like say if you read my Blogg again you’ll find I actually said I’d get rid of Jackett WHEN a new owner comes in which will more than likely happen any way
I did not gloss over any facts
You implied that Kenny jackett should go .when that should happen was not stated
This blind man Just wanted to know who you thought we should replace him with ?
Paul clement sacked by Derby – just a thought
That speaks volumes, why can’t we do the same.
Just watch who’s gonna be their next manager-coach.
Nigel Pearson..or Hackett I hope.
My thought was Clement to Wolves! Not Jackett to Derby. Though really Jackett at Wolves is the only realistic option.
Like it,Cotswold wolf.
Even if I thought kj should be sacked, and I don’t currently , there would be little point in doing it now. Firstly, you would do it after safety had been secured, as we are not on a terminal run where we are losing game after game. Secondly, you would need a proven replacement lined up and who would join a club which could potentially be in new ownership within weeks or months? Kj has been unlucky with injuries and he has not been properly backed, however, this season he has not helped himself on a number of fronts. Some of his tactics have been very questionable at times. Some of his signings, assuming he has had final sanction, have been questionable and his some of his press statements have not done him any favours. Assuming no new ownership in the near future, I would give him a reasonable budget in the summer , say 5m plus anything he can recycle from the current squad, and expect him to have wolves in the play off positions by November. If he doesn’t achieve that then I’d sack him.
You’re probably right SCW on all accounts, but its frustration on my part with the way we’re playing and the lack of tactics and indecision from Hackett.
I’ll get over it with a couple of wins under our belt.
Nigel Pearson s a fucking weirdo . Even that shit down the road got rid of him .
His track record before that fluke of a team wasn’t great .. Carlisle Newcastle Albion Stoke ( while moxey was there I think !! )
There’s even people saying we should get shot of James Henry … He s our leading goal scorer now . Great idea
What’s the difference between a fat bird and a WBA striker? Even a fat bird scores occasionally. … sorry not very PC. Apologies to our female friends on this blog.
Here are my thoughts, I will be brief. Not a great game, but a point and clean sheet on the road is good enough.
We were solid defensively, EEL was the best of the bunch. I love Iorfa as ever, but he made more mistakes than usuual,
Saville had a good game, made a number of good passes, competed for every ball and made good tackles. MoM for Siggy was very good, hos day will come. StuWolf reiterated my comments, I noted that he never wasted a ball anrd passed intelligently into space. I like players who show composure and use the ball. Hr did that.
Negatives – VLP, he is so predictable. He may have talent, but he hides it well. What KJ sees in him, I don’t know, I would boot his petulant arse well out of the fist team. Byrne needs a chance to prove his worth.
KMac – he made the same error 3 or 4 times that I saw. When playing out if defence, he gave the ball away. I think that he coulldn’t decide whether to clear his lines a la Jackie Charkton, or play the ball out of defence like last year’s Wolves. He did neither due to indecision and gave the ball away. It aas a week display by his high standards. But hey, I would play Jack Price rather than save him for the under 21s next day.
Yes, James Henry missed a good chance, but he always gives his all and will create openings.
I am not in the sack KJ camp. As many say, he is a pragmatist. However, answer this Kenny why sign Mason and Byrne, then not pick them?
My views Use 3 subs, not just to waste time at the end if games. Go back to passing football again and don’t just settle for 1 point/ a nidtable finish.
Midtable is where we are – OK but at least aspire to greater things for the sake of the cold, wet faithful.
Interesting that most folk on this blog despite differing interpretations of JK’s worth decline to be rid of him. Perhaps a period of reflection has been of benefit after the Bolton horror.
Glen Hughes trending on Twitter re potential Wolves consortium..
Tue 21.00-22.00
Whoops Mon 21.00-22.00 even.
Lots of Rumours about a buy out again on Twitter tonight….
Glenn Hughes getting people excited
Anybody got any info…
Definitely a case of ‘Better the devil you know…’ I think and also, to use another old adage, Once bitten, twice shy’ after so many managerial appointment cock-ups previously.
Kevin Muscat anybody??
Sorry people ..Glen Hughes a wind up..see Twitter..
Talk about waiting for some action ..I fell for that..back to darkness then..
One last thought about the performance at Reading. The defence looked solid and the central midfield three worked hard and created chances, even the much maligned Coady who is still to my mind infinitely better than Price. The problem was the front three. Just think if instead of the insipid VLP, the dire Henry and the Kevin Doyle like Siggy (nice and neat, holds the ball up and works hard but will be lucky to score five goals a season) we had last season’s ‘magic’ trio of Dicko, Afobe and Sako. Imagine it. We’d have beaten Reading at least 3-0. THAT my friends is the big difference now. Going forward we have no pace, no power, no goal threat, no excitement, no flair, no quality, no nothing. We have instead willing runners lacking any of those things. Quality of course costs which is why we don’t have any. Moron and Toxic, with or without Jackett’s blessing have sold the family’s valuable silver at Sotheby’s and replaced it with cheap plastic from Poundland. Trouble is we have seen them do it but are powerless to do anything about it.
Not sure why we are all trying to make a purse out of a sow’s ear . We are devoid of quality throughout, and chasms away from where we need to be if we are to be truly challenging for the next level. So whether one player had a better game or not, or whether we gained a point or not, really doesn’t matter much, because in the big picture, we are going to be staying where we are (at best), about mid-table 2nd tier. Forgive me for not getting too excited.
I don’t want to be doing the cha-cha, with one step forward and another one back. I want to waltz through this division to the next level up. But it’s not going to happen with this team, whether we change manager or not, even if we brought in Jose Mourinho, because the money and the ambition aren’t going to be there.
Let me try explaining this a different way. Leicester are currently top of the Premier League. Now I don’t know how long they’ll stay there, but one thing is for sure, they have already ammassed more points than we were ever able to in our last exploits in the promised land. Not even close. The reason Leicester have done this is because the moment they went up, they sold their top players and strikers from the Championship, and replaced them with better ones of Premiership quality. They upgraded and they invested! Wolves on the other hand, weren’t even capable of paying for the surplus striker from Leicester, and instead proceeded to slowly sell on what gems of quality we had gained. We downgraded and devested (is that a word? I don’t think so, but you know what I mean).
The patronizing propaganda for selling season tickets has started once again. Jackett has sold his soul to Moxey and started to BS like the rest of them, saying things like how he still wants to make the playoffs. (Really Mr Jackett? Really! You can’t even beat bottom of the barrel Bolton and you want to have a go at the EPL via the playoffs? Are you really a total clown?)
Look guys, we’re up for sale and there’s no buyer. We’re in dire straits, treading water in the 2nd division until we’re sold. Until then, we can get excited for playing a little better and gaining a point in a toothless goalless draw against Reading. Woo hoo!! And that is the depressing state of affairs our benevolent Mr Morgan and Mr Moxey have put us in.
Go on! Buy their early bird season tickets! Drink the coolade! Sure, top-six. Oh yeah! And we’ll do an Everton right after that one. Oh yeah! Go for it. Keep lining up their pockets for doing the marvelous job they do.
Or perhaps just don’t buy the early bird. Just think for a minute … if they didn’t sell a single early bird (or at least enough of them) do you think they’ll put the prices up? I think not. I think maybe they’ll reduce them even further because they realize we’ve finally caught on and they won’t make enough gate money. And maybe they realize we’ve had enough. Enough lies, enough crap and enough bad management! And finally, maybe, just maybe, they might decide it’s time they faced their responsibilities, and all the promises and marketing they’ve been making all these years, and decide to finally invest in this once great club, and tried to make it great again. That’s all we ask.
And when they do, they won’t be able to build a stadium large enough to sell all the season tickets they’ll sell.
Is there no investor out there who can see this?
I hope your last paragraph is answered in the affirmative, GoWolves.
For everyone’s information, Redrow’s half year results are due out today and it is anticipated that the turnover and profits are above expectations – we’ll see, but one thing is for sure, none of the largesse will be reinvested in our football club!
Hurry up and sell up and take Moxey with you!
UTW!
3rd 4th 5th para so true..we had pulled off Afobe who was coming back from injury..spectacular purchase and unfortunately the theory sticks as in we can do this again..
The trouble is that the player see’s through us or can’t be initiated into a Wolves loyalty scenario which shoots us in the foot ultimately as we won’t pay decent wages …
The answer is sell and rebuild ..but Morgan seemingly is holding out for a taste of the potential new action..
I reckon it’s been fingers up to him three times buy potential buyers as he’s a greedy bastard living on Sir Jacks legacy..
I think we won’t sell in the end.
Steve,
I dont think its just a matter of we wont sell, I think we cant sell.
We have stagnated to the point of apathy, permeating throughout the club.
The board is a bunch of toothless yesmen, only concerned with keeping their “status” as board members.
The management are inept at best, recycling the same crocks, shuffling the same tired round pegs into different square holes.
And why is it we get so many long term injuries?
When we sign players, does no one look at their medical history?
The players themselves, and with a lot of them I use the word players loosly, have never seemed more disjointed and bereft of ideas, which can be partly attributed to coaching, management and tactics, but surely they have some pride in being footballers for a famous club?
And then there are the fans.
If this blog is indicative of others, and the general gloom is widespread, then we are seriously in danger of becoming as apathetic as those at the club.
We are all recycling the same old concerns and moans, ( especially me!)
I dont even know against whom our next fixture is, but I’m sure some nice fellow blogger will let me know!
When a prospective buyer looks at what is on offer, based on the dreary above, are they, in their right mind, going to be interested??
Having said all that, any potential buyer of a football club should know that in this business more than most others, change and a positive attitude can happen virtually overnight, especially if a buyer is a lifelong fan of the beautiful game.
The older we are, the more nostalgic we get for the glory days.
This is what keeps us going back, match after match, season after season.
This is why WWFC is in our blood, our soul and will never dissipate.
A potential purchaser, understanding this, should be able to see the vast potential there is at the Mol, and yes, the money to be made by running the club correctly, for the customers, the fans.
Play exciting, attractive, winning football and as said above, there will never be a stadium big enough to hold us all, and, most of us wont give a shit how much profit is being generated, as long as a significant chunk is reinvested for the betterment of the club.
As has been thrashed to death on here, it aint friggin’ rocket science.
I really hope there is someone out there with the vision, commitment and money to make our wishes come true.
At least we are not on the dark side, forever doomed to watch the shit play shit.
FOwb
Com on Clive.. You’ll be erecting a gallows soon not fences …there’s always nxt season..it’s jacket I really worry about (plus the return of our crocks from injuries)…
We have Villa v Wolves too….
All pretty much the same doom and gloom as ever on the blog.
The bottom line is that we all know that things will never change until Morgan sells or gets a heart transplant.
I heard him on Radio 4 this morning blowing his trumpet about the growing success and profitability of Redrow.
Well done him!!!!
On an even sadder note, I know that a few of you bloggers out there share my love of music, particularly from a certain era when ‘My people were fair and wore flowers in their hair’.
Join me then if you will in mourning the passing of yet another rock icon:-
Paul Kantner, late of Jefferson Airplane, whose music summed up for me those heady days of the late sixties.
Surrealistic Pillow and After Bathing at Baxters were two of the finest Psychedelic albums to be committed to vinyl and, in my not so humble opinion, Grace Slick possessed one of the two finest voices of that era.
So many people who defined our youth no longer with us.
When I can enjoy a drink again I’ve got a lot of people to raise a glass to.
I might need to refill it several times.
Yes, Gracie was good but who was t’other?
Janis had a very unique voice but IMHO not a fine one.
Vera Lynn????
A lot left us in the past twelve months but I guess its about that time of life.
We are all reaching that age and our pasts are begining to catch up with us.
I think the likes of Lemmy did bl**dy well to last as long as they did.
Keith Richards still going strong and playing like a good un.
Joe Walsh the same. He’s done REALLY well to get this far.
Shows what the love of a good woman can do.
I did mean Janis.
Perhaps ‘fine’ didn’t quite hit the nail on the head.
Powerful and ballsy might be closer, but she could certainly sing and had a whole lot of soul.
Yes, she could certainly belt it out. Good version of “Me & Bobby McGee”. The other end of the spectrum really, dying as young as she did along with Jim Morrison and the others.
On the subject of Kenny Jackett I feel he’s stuck in a no win situation, the fans are always going to jump on the managers back when things aren’t going well and in terms of team selection the players left out always seem like messi when the lad on the pitch is having a hard time.
I understand peoples frustration about Mason and the substitutions but in the end I have enough faith in Jackett to see that the man must have his reasons. After all this is the man that built one of the most attractive and attacking footballing teams we have had at the molineux in years out of the ashes of Dean Saunders (and MM) hoof it squad. Last season he showed he’s go the nous to be successful at this level as well, strengthening the squad with virtually no investement barring the Afobe buy. I know some of his transfers have backfired, but in all honestly when your paying peanuts what can you expect? Tommy Rowe looked like a sensible purchase at the time a solid player for Peterborough for a number of years. Saville and Wallace have bags of potential they just haven’t realised yet and even RVLP has his moments.
The biggest problem with the football club is the cancerous lack of ambition shown by the owner and CEO. At the end of last season we had a playoff team possibly better given that we had Afobe for a full season instead of half of it. At the same time Sheffield Wednesday had finished 13th with a squad full of decent players but few exceptional talents (Westwood mainly). In the summer they invested heavily bringing in Forestieri, Bannan, Matias and now Hooper. As well as securing the highly rated Westwood on a new contract despite the interest of premiership teams. Now obviously they spent money (something alien to our chairman) but they’ve got an established wage structure (aboviously substantialy better than ours at the minute and I doubt their CEO is the highest paid person at the club btw) but they aren’t at risk of being in trouble with financial fair play like Derby and Forest. Now they are in the playoffs and 6 points off the league leaders whilst being bang in form. There chairman has set a a two year plan for promotion. By the way they have also done all this without parachute payements!
Now I’m not saying that Afobe or Sako would have not had their heads turned by premiership clubs. But if we could have turned to them and said this is our two – three plan for promotion and here’s a new substantialluy better termed contract for a a year or two and a guarantee of investment in the squad it would have been a much harder task for Bournmouth and Palace to tempt them away. Also its a joke that after Sako, Stearman and Afobe are gone that were still forced to sell in order to buy (Golbourne).
I fear that we are set for a period of gradual decline, until we are sold. Jackett will keep us up for the time beeing but if he’s forced to sell or lose the rest of the family silver (Macdonald, Batth, Iorfa, Haus etc) in order to balance the ever decreasing books I fear we have more chance into slipping towards Sheffield Utd than we will have chasing down Wednesday.
I don’t want to kick bloggers when we’re all down but there is more than a whisper or rumour now circulating that Morgan is inclined to accept a bid from a moxey fronted consortium for our once great club. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse………..
Two interesting and quite amazing statistics that put into sharp context our current status amongst the have-nots and further adds weight to the mind boggling insanity of Steve Moron for not being prepared to spend money to gain promotion.
Read these at least twice – even then you will scarcely believe it.
1. Next season the TV money from China alone would mean that every Premier League club could afford to allow in all away supporters to every game completely free – and not lose any money.
2. Next season the TV money in total would mean every Premier League club could afford to let ALL supporters, home and away, into every game completely free of charge and STILL have the same money they have this season.
And they say football has become a money driven business aimed at the rich instead of a competitive sport for the masses! As if!
I’m more optimistic than many. On the plus side I think we will end the season around 6th to 10th position. Zyro and Williamson will soon be fit. Siggy could be good enough for the lone striker role. Byrne looks a great bet to me. Savile and Rowe will repay Kenny’s faith. The sacking of Paul Clement at Derby may well galvanise Kenny to pull all the stops out for the remainder of the season.
On the negative side VLP is becoming annoying again. It could be an attitude problem. He was fantastic against QPR when he was in the shop window but why can’t be do it now? Our midfield is clearly not good enough for the luxury of playing Mason behind a striker, so I think Mason will get fewer chances. We are definitely an unbalanced team.
I see that we are being asked to stump up the dosh for Sir Jack’s statue.
I would be more than happy to donate to the memory of the great man.
But when you think about it, shouldn’t a certain Mr ‘I bought the club for a tenner and am selling it for rather more than it’s worth’ Morgan put his hand in his fat wallet and pay for it himself?
Am I the only fan that feels slightly insulted by the request?
No you are not Mr D. While I think a statue is something we all want asking us to pay for it is taking the piss. . . . . but then we always try to do everything on the cheap.
A Morgan & Moxey pr disaster coming the day after Redrow announced that they had made record half year profits!
Unbelievable!
I think it’s disgusting that the club/owner etc can’t dip into their pockets and pay for the statue. it would not even be missed by Morgan – petty cash to him.
Whoever thought that this was a good idea want’s their arse’s kicking, big time.
I don’t feel slightly insulted DG I feel completely insulted! If wolves had offered a matching donation approach I would happily donate but no, nothing. What happened to us “all being in it togetherness”? However, I am not in the least bit surprised. And yet there are still those who refuse to overtly condemn Morgan and moxey as money grabbers who have not a scintilla of interest in the overall future direction of wolves and its passionate fan base. There are still those who will dutifully hand over their early bird money. How much more evidence is needed to show that we are being completely shafted by the owners and management and that they treat fans with utter, utter contempt? I feel sorry in my heart for sir Jack he has been completely betrayed. Moxey and Morgan hang your heads in shame and leave our club as soon as possible. It will be a cold day in hell before either of you are remembered with anything other than total loathing by any self respecting follower of this great club.
I agree regarding the statue of Sir Jack, Morgan pays a tenner for Wolves, makes countless millions from house building in the Wolverhampton area etc.
I wonder if any other club have asked the fans to pay for a statue?
Most probably not….
I’d pay a tenner in a heartbeat.
But,
No, No, No.
We as fans are ripped off from dawn to dusk and from pillar to post.
The boycott of Boro away is taking hold and gaining momentum, before I heard the price I had decided not to go, so I don’t feel so bad now.
Cough up you greedy bunch of bathplugs called the Wolves Board, because we are Bored shitless of your constant greedy demands.
( I read the story and I do believe it was the fans that started this initiative)
The Fans Parliament is tonight guys, so we should get the truth tomorrow, (see what I did there) the truth (my arse)
🙂
Do we know if Ben is still involved?
He seems to have fallen out of love with the club and we usually get a piece from him asking for suggestions for questions to The Lord High Moxey.
I understand perfectly well if he feels he can no longer take part in The Fans Parliament but it would be a great shame if we lost our ‘insider’.
Spoke with Ben two Sundays ago, he’s P’d off with everything Wolves but said, “he was determined to get back on track” and back to blogging.
To be honest, If you were Ben, would you ask if there are any points we want to bring up.
His feckin ears would bleed.
🙂
I think that the statue should be paid for by 100% fan’s donations.
Otherwise, if funded by the club, and by extension, rudolph and greasel, I can just imagine the plaque reading something like:
Sir Jack, greatest benefactor, etc etc etc,
And underneath, an even bigger plaque reading:
This statue was thought of, financed, designed, and built by Sir Steven Morgan and Lord Jezabel Moxey, the even greater benefactors of WWFC, and sponsored by Redrow and all their other wonderful associated companies.
The unveiling of the statue would coincide with the start of our first season back in the fourth division, as all profits from the sale of McDonald, Haus, Iorfa, Graham, Dicko, Zero and most of the rest of the squad would have been used for financing the statue, ie footballing reasons.
This is another chapter in the “you couldnt make this shit up” saga.
Fuck ’em both and wb
Maybe we should just go for a statue of those 3 monkeys – See no evil (Morgan), Hear no evil (Moxey) and Speak no evil (Jackett) – and be done with it.
Bit weird that Glenn Hughes stuff
Funny small world really , my X wife is (was ) John lords god daughter ( deep purple )
Glenn Hughes and Robbie Keane Eh?
Is this on the level?
He might get a game.
Keane I mean.
Hello Doogooder . Hope you re on the up mate … I don’t know … It seems to be more genuine than fake .. Did you realise boy George was fom Walsall ?
Hi LWL
I didn’t realise that Middle Age Man George was from Walsall. I assumed he was from the big smoke like your good self.
As it goes I’ve just been looking .. He is from bexley Heath but he spent a bit of time in Walsall when he was early teens . I think it’s just the press trying to find a link between Robbie Keane , Glenn Hughes and boy George .
So what is the link I wonder eh ..??
Glenn Hughes could get a game the way we are at the moment.
So could Boy George.
Regarding the club asking fans to donate a tenner for Sir Jack’s statue to cover the £250,000 costs.
As an alternative idea, why not ask fans to donate £10 each to get rid of Moxey!!!
Put me down for £100
We continually hear calls for the exit of Morgan, Moxey and increasingly Jacket from the Molineux; does anyone know who’s in charge of PR as they certainly need to be replaced. If a business competitor wanted to ruin the name of Wolves in the public domain, they certainly couldn’t do as good a job as our in-house team. Bad news is followed by ill thought out initiatives and timing is always atrocious. One couldn’t contrive a worse situation in which to try and sell us early bird tickets. Has anybody else realised that EB letters will arrive during a month when there will be no Saturday football at home, something else that really winds me up.
I just can’t believe the incompetence and lack of connection with supporters (but of course I can based on the last 15 years or so) why on earth are they asking supporters to pay for a statue for the great Sir Jack? Here are some possibilities – they are totally removed from reality, are living in a massive bubble, treat the fans as idiots, for God sake Morgan is looking to sell the club for millions yet can’t pay for a statue, rant nearly over but not quite, I’ve supported the club for many years and only just felt so frustrated to comment here, it’s got nothing to do with Kenny, a hard working, principled man and everything to do with the incompetent and condescending Board, don’t you remember when they cleared the south bank for Albion fans, yes cleared the south bank, I went in the family enclosure that day – Like I said no understanding of our great club I will love you Wolves forever!
Anybody following the live Blog of Fans Parliament…
What a Joke…
Best laugh since Only Fools and horses
No statue yet. Wait till Jiz & Stiffie have gone.
I’m following it word for word,
It has been repeated time and time again. The fans started the Statue stuff not the club, obviously the club won’t try to put anyone off from offering a donation, but they have assured the FP that whatever happens the Statue will be built.
Dennis Green is our Chairman on the Wolves Disabled Supporters Association and he confirmed that he was present when the fans asked for a statue.
🙂
Fans parliament : Spectacular fend off by Moxey ..the usual come and get me ,I’ll always win stance..
Even Thellwell came out with a rose..
Unless I’m mistaken was a Q asked ‘how close are we to selling the club’ ? coz the answer seems to be – ‘a million miles away..’
Reading some of the extracts from the fans parliament it seems that Moxey is as peed off as we are with regards to Morgan being a tight arse.
Just hope someone comes up with the cash in the summer and before the start of the next season.
Otherwise we will drift in the sea of uncertainty and despair.
Don’t believe that, he’s angling to keep his job with potential new owners….!
Oh sorry Jez all this time you’ve been miss understood by the fans……………….yeah right it EARLY BIRD propaganda……..!

🙂
Crap utter crap Therwell. Fans Paralement WHY do fans attend this puppet show its totally pointless.
WHY……………?
I see the PR machines gone into over drive for the much anticipated release of the” EARLY BIRD ” letters.
Therwell and Moxey has crawled out of there respected holes its amazing how suddenly open they’ve become, as usual there’s something familiar ” they didn’t want to come to Wolves ” oh and ” we worked really hard but the deals just didn’t come off ”
So it had nothing to do with offering peanuts no oh no……….!
I’d have more respect for these paracites if they at least try to come up with different excuses instead of the same BULL SHIT..!
Thanks for putting the two interviews up Stu.
I’ve just listened to the ‘My little pony’ interview (bloggers of a certain age or with daughters will know who I mean) and I have two things to say.
1) Why doesn’t he just admit that they dropped a big bollock selling Stearman? He talked himself round and round and eventually disappeared up his own player’s entrance when he was asked about the policy of the club selling older players to make room for the youngsters and then buying someone who was ‘ancient’ when things went tits up – as we all knew they would.
2) If Benik Afobe really did stop playing for us, and it certainly looked like it from the ‘performances’ on the pitch and the way KJ stopped picking him, then he has my utter contempt.
He always came across as enthusiastic in interviews and kept saying that he wasn’t ready for the Prem yet and the experience at Wolves was invaluable.
It just shows the shallowness of most footballers nowadays and that short term gain is everything.
I just hope that he feels that moving ‘up a level’ to Bournemouth is worthwhile in the long run.
If not, how long before he stops playing for them and tries to get transferred to an ‘even bigger’ club.
We are well shot of him!
I find myself saying a little prayer every time Bournemouth play that Afobe will be back in the Championship next season. It’s pretty much the only interest I have in the Premiership other than a desire for Wolves to participate in it again.
Mark.
I found it really interesting following the meeting (Almost-internet time delay permitting) as it happened. I shall try and do it every time from now on. there were a 1000 e-mails sent in during the meeting apparently, so I wasn’t the only one.
My little Mata Hari at the Molineux is usually pretty spot on with his information and as we found out to our pleasure or displeasure the club were after the people we hinted at on the blog, but for one reason or another they don’t want to come.
The level of greed amongst clubs and individual players certainly rose it’s head last night in the interview, and as you may recall the training room and pitch bust up’s with KJ and Afobe was confirmed by Poxey in the meeting. So the discord and lack of player support was there and on the pitch I certainly saw times when there was a ball NOT passed to Afobe and a huge smile on certain faces when he fecked up.
His agent had done a deal with Boringmouth long before the transfer window opened so little wonder he was sold on PDQ. I echo the sentiment, he can go forth and Multiply.
Thelwell states in his radio interview, if they don’t want to play for us then they can Foxtrot Oscar in short sharp jerky movements.
Oh the shit we fans have to contend with.
🙂
In fairness there are two sides to every story. It’s easy to slag Afobe off behind his back but I would like to hear his take on things. Given the spin that the club in general and Moxey in particular can put on things I doubt what we have heard is the whole story. We sold our best player – now we have to explain why. This story absolves the club of blame. It was all that b*stard Afobe’s fault, forgetting he nearly fired us to promotion last season and that we have made a profit of around £7M in a year. If we had built a team around him and were in the running for promotion would he have wanted to leave? Sorry but anyone thinking the club is blameless needs a reality check.
I see Benik has had his two penn’orth now. Whatever the rights and wrongs of this episode it was totally unprofessional of Thelwell to come out and say what he did. He would be far better off spending his time recruiting players who would improve the team . . . . . but perhaps this smokescreen is designed to hide his inability to do that. I can’t help thinking that if we had brought in players capable of mounting a serious promotion challenge Afobe would have been happy to stay. We didn’t, we won’t and we’ll lose our best players until the mindset at the top changes. That means a new owner.
This whole sad and sorry incident is best forgotten.
And there was us(me included) thinking Afobe was a sound,level-headed guy with his feet planted firmly on terra-firma.Watching him running around like a man possessed on Sunday v Arsenal,I found myself muttering ‘why didn’t he do that at the Mol’.Ah well,we move on.I couldn’t help but think back to Mark Davies and latterly,Michael Kightley when I saw the news of Graham & Hause being signed up on medium to long-term contracts.Someone at The Golden Palace has done their homework, methinks.
I’m not sure whether you picked up that he’d said his agent had told him before he came to us that his career would not be going in the right direction if he stayed at Molineux longer than two seasons. We were ‘just a station on the way’ as Leonard Cohen once sung. Perhaps he’s advised him if he can show he can score in the Premier for Bournemouth then the big boys will come looking for him ‘ere long. Proven goalscorers are a highly tradeable commodity, and in case we’ve all forgotten, the agent gets a healthy percentage on each trade, as well as a cut of the increased salary.
Stu, I certainly see players not wanting to come here, BUT its not all down to being in the Championship I can see one or two not coming for that reason espeailly forgin players who are internationals or on the fringes but its all about selling the club to them a vision and ambition and yes money financial reward it about the whole package and frankly Wolves package is about as attractive as a weekend in Prestatyn..!
It’s about as attractive as a month in Prestatyn.
I carnt believe there blaming Afobe, yes I a gree he lost heart no wonder up front on his own chasing balls neck high in that respect yes may be he could of tried harder BUT which came first the ” chicken or the egg ”
Jackett played him as a lone striker them dropped him because his form and goals dried up, that’s Jacketts fault not Afobe’s no wonder they had a bust up.
This hol thing with Afobe has been planned first play on his own, then drop him, then sell and finally blame him……….un fucking believable and do you know what I don’t believe it not a word from Moxey and Therwell…..oh and Jackett is conspicuous by his absence….!
Afobe lost interest a long time ago and lately he stank the place out,so I for one,am fairly glad to see the back of him.Fergie always had the right idea;anything, but anything out of kilter and they were out of the door, pronto.Beckham,Ince,Keane, they all got the treatment.Good on Thelwell for telling it like it is.
I have a different veiw now with Afobe ..we sharp eyed bloggers noticed his attitude and play and the other players reactions..He seemed to of played ‘us’ after the Norwich bid got refused..I rated him very very highly but as we all know if he abuses the shirt he is mince meat….(.KJs fault overall anyway )Doogooder ?
I thought Jez Moxey’s (repeated) performance under scrutiny was out of sight…Credit where credit is due..
Regarding his interview (Stu’s link) with Mike burrows it was a 2016 version almost as bad of when John Motson interviewed Brian Clough..as in – he ate the bloke for breakfast..
I rate Moxey as I’ve said before and I reckon he disguises well that Morgan has left him and the club in the shit….
He personally takes the flack well..
I would have no problem him staying with a wedge of money behind us..
Nb.Morgan is the real enemy IMO
What have I said lol..
I was really interested to hear that Moxey reckons a new owner willing to spend big ie £30m as have Derby and Boro, could turn the clubs fortunes round.
Nothing like stating the bloody obvious. The good news that you can take from that is that it probably rules out Moxey and any consortium taking over the club. I mean can you see that idiot CEO buying £30m of players, he should have kept, and should keep his inept fingers out of that side of the clubs affairs.
Morgan is the worse kind of owner, a no spend owner, could afford to but wo`nt. Reason – he is not a fan as we all know, it was just a business opportunity for him, he stuck up two fingers to Sir Jack, the fans and everyone else who loves our great club. I hope he chokes counting his Redrow dividend.
I have listened to the Moxey interview now and I can’t really argue with Steve showcase (well I can but choose not to on this occasion) that he said more or less what I would expect a competent CEO to say.
We can’t argue with his ambition of getting to the Premier League as quickly as possible, we can’t argue with the injuries and we can’t argue with his statement that Morgan said he was not going to be an open cheque book sort of owner.
In the end, his remit is to run the club within its means and to all intents and purposes he has done just that.
It will be very interesting to see if and when a new owner is in place, we will all suddenly discover a new Jez Moxey.
Only time will tell.
I listened to the interviews and have a slightly different interpretation.
I thought Moxey was spoon fed by the interviewer. The same went for Thelwell. I imagine the questions were agreed at some time prior to the interviews. Both M&T came over as being smug, arrogant and confident in the certain knowledge that they can’t be challenged or be made accountable. In behaving like this I believe they treat the fans with a disrespect bordering on contempt.
I also felt that both were unprofessional in their comments about Afobe. It was even more unprofessional than the comments made about Jezzer’s bungled attempt to sign Washington. Now why was that not raised in the interviews? Why didn’t anyone ask why we constantly seem to fail to land our prime targets? Why weren’t they asked about sending Graham out on loan or the many failed recruitments or about Siggy being our saviour when 6 months ago he was not even a part of our future?
Did you really learn anything new from the interviews apart from the party line on BA? Sorry guys but while Moxey stays where he is then so will Wolves.
Haven’t heard the interview but the whole thing smacks of Moxey tgrying to come out of all of the with some credit. The man’s a born liar I’m afraid … smacks of ColinLee gate again.
i’ve no doubt that Afobe slacked off BUT with all the PUBLIC promises made to replace SAKO and build a team around AFOBE … WTF happened to ALL OF THAT EH…. MOXEY SPIN OF COURSE.
The man lies as soon as his lips move (Allegedly) …. just like a lot of last nights rhetoric.
The Fans Parliament is a truly waste of FANS time
Let’s have some questions asked of MOXEY about accountability and Progress … he’d be long gone ..and Thelwell based on performance to date …!!!
Totally agree Twixfix great blog..!
I for one wouldn’t believe a single word that comes out of poxey’s arse let alone his mouth and that goes for that mouthpiece Thurwell what’s his job anyway he’s just another jobs worth.
I think all they’re doing is warming the bed for the early bird con trick ripoffs like they always do.
I think ticket sales will be down again this year.I’m seriously thinking about renewing mine this year for the first time in 25 years.
Steve Showcase is correct. Look behind the misty eyed romanticism and you will find that Sir Jack appointed Moxey to do a job following his fantastic but ultimately failed attempts to restore us to glory. Jack had enough of splashing his cash. Ultimately he failed to back Dave Jones on promotion in 2003. He and Jones fell out. Moxey was brought in to balance the books and he has followed his remit under the Morgan era. Moxey is an employee and he does what is required. I realise that like Steve Bull, Sir Jack is given the untouchable status. But amongst the great things he did should be balanced against his status as a tax exile (avoider) with massive wealth overseas.
As I recall, it took Sir Jack a while to find a buyer to fit his criteria and he wanted someone who would not let the Wolves sink back into the financial mire of previous years. Morgan must have fitted the bill so bought the club. Could it be that he’s simply honouring a pledge he made to Sir Jack that he would balance the books at all costs?
Like any other business man Steve Morgan was looking to get a massive return on any money he spent
By the way Public Image Limited at Wolves slade rooms 14/6/2016. Come and see John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) in action. True working class hero. Even if he is a fuckin gooner.!
I must admit that I never got the Sex Pistols, I thought that they were second division punk and, arguably, without the brains of Malcolm McLaren I’m pretty sure that they would have sunk without trace.
The Stranglers and the Clash were the Premier League for me.
However, I saw Public Image Ltd at Glastonbury a few years back and they really impressed me.
And John Lydon has gone from being the Antichrist to everybody’s favourite nan.
Couldn’t bring myself to watch or listen to any of the discussions as it is too predictable and depressing. Bottom line is that Morgan is a waste of space, Moxey is a liar, Thelwell is incompetent and Jackett is a weak ‘yes man’. Unless and until the club has new owners with vision, flair, ambition, business acumen, drive and an understanding of football in the 21st century – and we are shot of all four of those idiots – we will continue to wallow around amongst the have-nots. The clock is ticking and the almost mind boggling wealth that will arrive in the Premier League next season from the new TV deal will mean that very soon the have-nots like Wolves will be cast adrift as never-will-bes. Never will be again. Ever!
Concur completely and with you on the apathy bit Marney, never in 55 years in my case.
It amazes me how they have got away with it for so long.
Spot on Bedford, my thoughts exactly, we won’t do anything with this lot and the worst is they have probably ensured that we may never be as good again , because they wasn’t good enough ! My son is among a whole new generation of would be supporters who are rapidly losing interest, and frankly Iv given up pushing it , for the first time in 40 years I d know who we are playing next such is my apathy!! I really need to stop posting as its not fun anymore! Sorry for the negativity all ?
I know I am getting old and some may argue about senility setting in but WTF is going on at the Golden Palace.
KJ spends nearly 12 months chasing a player (Mason) and now says he has to find a way of fitting hime into the team. What a load of bollocks. We buy Williamson and he is still injured and not available for this weeked, another load of bollocks.
I have been following Wolves since 1953 and am becoming the most depressed I have evr been by this club. It will soon be worse that the dark days of the Bhatti brothers.
Oh for the arrival of new owners and the departure of the current set of useless idiots in charge at our club.
