If the near 5,000 contingent of Wolves supporters heading to Deepdale is anything to go by, optimism has returned.

I think Kenny Jackett deserves a lot of credit for that.
He’s done everything within his power to cultivate a strong relationship between himself, the team and the fans.
There’s now a genuine sense, for the first time in a long time, that we’re all in it together. That’s a very good place to start from.
Still, quite how much can realistically be expected from his young side is another matter completely.
For all the positives to come out of pre-season, nobody can say with any degree of certainty what this team is capable of doing until the competitive action starts.
I remain optimistic about our prospects, but cautious at the same time given that we’ve only added one player (a free transfer) to the squad.
Preston
The last time we visited Deepdale, Chris Iwelumo scored a superb hat-trick in a 3-1 win before getting himself sent off for a headbutt. Wolves went up to the Premier League as champions that year and Preston made the play-offs.
The Lilywhites finished midtable last season with Simon Grayson taking charge late in the day. Given his past success with Leeds and Huddersfield, you would think he’d be a good appointment at this level.
A quick look at this thread on a Preston fans forum suggests they feel promotion is a realistic objective. If that’s the case this should be a good barometer to see how our young side are shaping up.
Kevin Davies has been their marquee summer signing and, as he always does, will be causing lots of problems on Saturday. I’m not seeing many other names I’m familiar with in their squad. That could be a good or bad thing.
They won 8, drew 9 and lost 6 at Deepdale last season, which is a solid enough record. However, they’ll need to do better this time if they’re too mount a serious promotion charge.
Wolves
It’s likely that only 2 players (Elokobi and Sako) who started the game at Brighton back in May will be in the team on Saturday. That’s a good thing. Based on last weekend’s defeat to Real Betis, I would think the team will shape up like this:

That eleven shouldn’t be short of goals. I’m particularly excited to see if Leigh Griffiths can continue scoring regularly and if Sigurdarson can find consistency.
The defence continues to leak goals, but I look at that back four and believe it’s perfectly adequate for League One. I think Wolves’ defensive problems stem from how they defend as a team, not just as a back line.
I think if you take Sako out of the side we’re definitely short in the creative stakes. At some point we’re going to need at least one of Ismail, Forde or Boukari to make an impact.
Midfield is the area of concern for me so I’m hoping David Davis really finds his feet this season, Lee Evans lives up to the hype and Dave Edwards remains fit long enough to deliver.
The odds
Preston are slight favourites for this fixture with odds of 8/5 on the home win.
Wolves are just outside that at 17/10 and if you fancy the draw it’s 9/4.
A repeat of the 3-1 victory Wolves secured on their last visit to Deepdale, is available at odds of 20/1.
Predictions
The Wolves Blog Prediction League is once again open for business and as always, anyone can join in.
Simply leave your predicted scoreline for the game as a comment below and I’ll collate the results. Easy.
It’s 1 point for getting the correct outcome (e.g. a Wolves victory, a draw or a loss) and 2 points if you also get the scoreline correct.
As we’ve won one and lost one of our last two opening day fixtures, I’ll go for a draw.
2-2.
Up The Wolves.

Since we’ve had a lot of 2-1 victories that’s what I’m going with for this one too! COYW!
I just want to see a good performance from the boys, Three points would make for a welcome start to the season, I’ll go for PNE 0-2 Wolves. COYW !
cant help but think that 2-2 is the most likely outcome as well.
2-1 Wolves, The defence hasnt had enough time together so they will leak goals for the first quarter of the season
UP THE WOLVES
Have not got a clue about the teams we face this season, going by the pre-season games agree about the defence. Just hope the new confidence we seem to be gaining is not too brittle now the games that matter start.
COME ON ME BABIES 2-1 TO THE WOLVES
W ith the pre-season fiendlies out the way, our form is quite good with
O nly one loss over that period, and that against a classy opposition.
L ast season is behind us and even with all the youngsters I believe we have a
V ery good chance of doing well in our new campaign. I know that Jacket is trying
E very day to gel the squad and get us playing as a team, and I trust he will be
S uccessful in making this season a very good one.
A bsolute faith has to be shown and the fans loyalty is already being delivered.
Y esterday I heard that over 5000 fans will travel to Preston and I think that
E xemplifies that loyalty.
W e only want commitment, drive, determination and for the players to show us that
E ach and everyone of them want to play well for the Club. That is all we ask.
Aye why not? Wolves win 3-1 🙂
UTW!
Preston is getting slaughtered, a 4-1 victory to the Wolves.
I’m sure there will be a lot of exciting combinations between our 3 strikers. They are gonna be very difficult to stop. It’s a pity the first match isn’t telvised. The cupmatch against Morecambe is 6th aug. Maybe we’ll see another line up then with more youngsters like Ismail and Cassidy from start.
3-0 Wolves, Griffiths 2 Sako 1.
Preston think they are contenders because they have Kevin Davies and Iain Hume up front, this league is desperately poor and we need to be ruthless. It’s a big challenge but one we should achieve..
Careful Louie…
2-2
Decent start to what should be a good season.
3-1 Wolves (Griffiths (2), Edwards).
So , here we go again . To be honest I’m still feeling the horror effects of the last two years . However , if Griffiths can get of to a flier then we will score goals aplenty ….balanced by the almost certainty that we concede .
I hope that five thousand or so of are dancing come Saturday evening !!
PNE 1 WOLVES 3 oh yes ….
I agree the only concern is the defence I carnt see us grinding out 1.0 wins you need to threw out the season I still think Stearman is our biggest weakness in defence we will always concede with him in the team, the only plus to that is that Griffiths is on fire and has the potential to score 20 plus but carnt help think we will need th come from behind to win, hope I’m wrong 3 . 2 to Wolves.
3-2 to wolves, don’t know why
It’s great to have this blog, thanks guys. If we kept Sako and got off to a good start you could see us doing well, but keeping Sako is very unlikely. We need another striker, a big old classic no.9
I think playing big George at Left back is a risk too far, ( I’d love to be proved wrong ) Agree with your team except Doherty should be RB and Sam LB.
Lets hope Dave Edwards stays fit and he could surely score 10 goals +. OK 3-2 to Wolves I have to be hopeful, that’s why I’m forever a Wolves fan.
Griffiths played as a lone striker for Hibs so I don’t think that’s necessary. And we have Cassidy which played in the classic no 9 role at Tranmere.
I believe it will be very difficult to replace Sako, if it becomes necessary, but Ismail showed great stuff in the last pre-season game he played in. When he was younger the manager took him off the field, because he scored so many goals, to prevent interest from big clubs.
I am going for a 1-1 result. A win is good, a loss is bad, but is a draw a good or bad result for us at Deepdale?
3-1 win for Wolves and a great start to the season!
3-3 for the opener
I’m hoping for a positive start to the season. A 2-1 win is my prediction. Here’s to a better season than the last two!
1-2 I’m afraid. It’ll be a good performance though. And the ref will turn down a stone waller
aw, Ben! you are hurting mate aren’t you? 2-1 the other way onwards and upwards, UTW!!
I’ll go for 2-2 too.
I think Doherty will start at RB and Ricketts at LB. In D1 I’m prepared to go with Ricketts at LB, backed up by Elokobi, Reckord and Ebanks-Landell. I’m happy with Doherty at RB, but we need back-up there—very thin. Stearman and Batth should be good in this division, but we probably need more back-up than just Big George.
In midfield we’ve got Sako (for now), Boukari, Edwards and a sizeable group of promising young players. Best to see how Jackett can juggle these players and how well they can do. We may, or may not, need to buy in January.
If Griffiths can avoid arrest, we should be alright further forward with him, Cassidy, McAlinden and, possibly, Doyle. It’s difficult to have too many strikers so, now we’re in D1, I regret that we’ve lost Winnall and Nouble. I hope Wolves don’t live to rue their departures.
Of course, any supplementary players that Jackett chooses to acquire will be welcome but, apart from back-ups for right-back and central defence, additions don’t look really urgent.
‘ I’m happy with Doherty at RB, but we need back-up there’
Foley ?
yes, I believe it is very difficult to attract players better than the ones we already have when we’re in division one. Loans from premiership is possibly the best alternative on the transfer market.
Quietly confident about this season, going for a PNE 2-3 Wolves, come on me babbies!!
Preston 3 Wolves 2.
Agree with the team but I think Doherty will play at right back, Ricketts on the left and Elokobi on the bench.
I think we’ll do well this season but I’m afraid we’ll lose this first match, Preston is a tricky place to go and I can see Kevin Davies (who I really wanted us to sign) causing our leaky defence problems.
2-1 to Preston.
I’ll start with an optimistic 2-1 win to us! I’m back in it to win it this season!
AND……….were back! preston 2-4 wolves … come on me babbies and do it for all the wolves fans everywhere !! bloody hell its nearly Christmas !
Be very surprised if Kenny plays Elokobi other than when he has to this season so it’s Ricketts and Doherty at full back for me.
I reckon this is a pretty difficult first game with PNE under Simon Grayson now and Kevin Davies going to be a handful.
However, our 5000 supporters will make a huge difference so i’m going for 2-2.
Going for a 3-2 Wolves win – we’ve been scoring a lot lately, but our defence continues to stink.
I must confess, I was not pleased when Jackett was appointed. There were a few names I liked the look of more. But as pre-season has gone on, I’ve been forced to eat my own words, and regardless of results, I would like to give Jackett the season – and another if we don’t get relegated again!
We’ve not made many signings which is a shame – though Jackett seems to have at least tried (the pains of being a league one club I suppose). Having said that, Griffiths is as good as a new signing – we should have recalled him ages ago – and the looming prospect of retaining Sako is as good as another (just waiting for Moxey to cave and sell him)…
I’ve feeling confident, but I did last season as well. There is a different feeling about the team though – the loss of big name players has cleared the air, and the young pups are looking eager, keen and supportive.
UTW!
Ah thank god the season is starting again! And with it the old prediction league. I’m going with an optimistic 3-1 win to the young and hungry wolves. Griffiths with 2. Siggy stardust with the other
1-1 draw. Don’t see things starting too spectacularly lot of pressure on a young team.
3-1 the Wolves. Can’t wait for this season to start. I’ve been very impressed with what’s gone on pre-season and, like all of us, really hope this carries on throughout the whole season.
Let’s get the season off on the right foot…2 – 1 Wolves.
Not many have gone for a clean sheet based on pre-seasons results. Mainly silly mistakes though, so how about 0-1 Wolves (that boy Griffiths). 5000 Wolves fans on the Deepdale terraces deserve so much. COYW.
well after years of optimism i’ll hold my hand up and say i really lost interest towards the end of last season but now the butterflies have returned…… the club actually appointed the manager that myself and another 4.8% of express and star readers voted for against the run of play and i cant wait for the bell to ring on our new season so i’ll predict a 1-2 wolves win…. COYW
This really is a no brainer.
Preston away, with Moan all the time Davis trying to impress with his pushing and shoving style?
Easiest prediction of the season.
Preston 1 Wolves 5
I do hope you’re right, but I think it’ll be a hell of a lot tighter!
PNE 2-3 Wolves
On the subject of replacing Sako, I’ve been watching this lad who plays for my local team, looks a class apart from everyone else in his (admittedly pretty dire) division:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Forrester
Just on the off-chance that any of our scouts keep an eye on the blog 😉
His teammate Jake Carroll was snapped up by the ‘Udders a few months back, so it can happen…
lol. That’s what I like about you Clive – straight to the Point.
Preston 0 – Wolves 2. No-one is predicting a clean sheet, and I know it is very unlikely, but ………… UTW
Just scrolled down – I am NOT the only clean sheet predictor damn!!!
Preston 1 wolves 2 and moxey to get the sack we can but dream
Preston 2 Wolves 4
Preston 0 Wolves 3
Got a good feeling about this season, but then again, so had I when Solbakken was appointed. I still think he should have been given the season.
Anyway…..Wolves 3 Preston 1
A draw will be a good start. (2-2)
Good luck Wolves-supporters.
3-1 victory to the mighty Wolves!!!
Feeding of the 5000 – 3-2 to Wolves – Amen.
2-2 with Griffiths on the scoresheet for us and Davies on the scoresheet for them.
I’m back after my pre-season break…
An overly-optimistic Steve Bull away at Grimsby opening day hat-trick. This time, it’s Lee Griffiths!
PNE 0 – 3 WWFC
3-1 to Preston and reality sets in.
We Need a defence urgently. I cant believe this has not been addressed
An astonishing 4-1 to Wolves because Preston will expect us to be even worse than we were last season.
I live in the hope that the last 2 seasons will be forgotten. With the squad we have we should finish in the top 4. Confidence is the key this season, so ………..PNE 1-2 Wolves.COYW.
It’s good to see so much optimism after last season’s misery but we shouldn’t forget that it’s still early days for this “new” team. They need time to gel so we might not immediately get the results we desire. Too much expectation from fans and being bookies favourites for promotion puts a heavy weight on young inexperienced players.
I would love us to start off with a win but a 2-2 draw is as much as I would hope for. Anything more would be a bonus
Good luck
Draw: PNE 3 Wolves 3
It’s a ‘Desmond’ to start the season.
2-2.
Preston 1 – 3 Wolves
Id go for a switch at the back with Ricketts on the left and Doherty on the right but otherwise I think that team looks good. I’m not sure whether its a 3,4 or 5 man midfield though.
I think you’re right about us looking fragile at the back and I’m concerned that we’ve lost a bit of steel in midfield. I fear that we may be overrun if we come against a tough tackling, no-nonsense set of League One veterans.
I’ll be there on Saturday for a rare trip out from the North Bank. Enjoy the game everyone
Don’t know what to expect,1st game of a new season would like to think a win is possible
so for that reason i’m sticking my neck out and hoping for a 0-1 win.
still think we lack an experienced ball playing midfielder to steady the ship.UTW.
Keep moxey out of things.
In a difficult opening fixture I can see us struggling, but let’s be optimistic and go 2-2
We need a new centre-back!
Back at last! Going for a Wolves win 2-1!
Looking forward to the game my first trip to the dale!
Hoping to see a fit, Hungary and effective young team and a 2-0 win
COYW
I’m going for 3-2 Wolves. Wish we would buy some defenders, but still got to get rid of big earners first.
Don’t think any of us know how good we are or how bad this league is, Preston are probably a mid table side so should give some idea what to expect .
I was already looking forward to the trip but 5,000 fans is amazing I really hope these kids are up to it ,Wolves fans will always back their own kids so bring it on lets have fun for the first fime in years. I’ll take a 2-2 draw to start with
Preston 2-2 Wolves
Pessimistic about the season and about this fixture: 2 – 1 to PNE
Well, if we can’t be optimistic about the first game of the season, what can be optimistic about??
Good luck, Kenny…you’re about to learn just how much Wolves fans demand.
Preston 1-3 Wolves
Preston 1 Wolves 2
Got to live the dream
Our first game in division 3, could be a reality check or could our young squad now start our long overdue comeback.
Have to be positive, so for me Preston 1 Wolves 5. If I get this right I deserve twenty points and prediction of the month award. Come on you wolves, see you at deepdale everyone !!
Mr Davies, please don’t copy my prediction, from 6 hours previously prior to yours!!!
You’ve forgotten that England is six hours ahead of Houston, so Mark Davies could have posted his prediction before you.
….Or am I getting confused?!
idsay more like light years ahead… AWESOME !!! have a nice day
Preston 1 Wolves 2
looking forward to this 1-4 wolves griffo hat trick
Not enough quality in the Wolves midfield and defense shortcomings still haven’t been addressed.
3-1 Preston.
3-1 wolves (it is the first game must stay optimistic)
“sack the fat man for a brighter future”
PNE 1 – Wolves 2
I’m going for a 2-1 win for Wolves 🙂
Traditionally, Wolves like to raise our hopes and dash them later so I predict we get off to a flying start with a Griffiths hat-trick and a 4-2 win.
Glancing very quickly down the comments, I couldn’t see anybody going for a 0-0, so I’ll make that my wild guess.
Looking forward to the weekend but a work in progress squad for me might just get edged off a draw.
Preston 2 – 1 Wolves.
It’s so amazing (and pretty wonderful really) to see optimism flowering so profusely amongst the majority of my fellow bloggers.
After all the crap that we have put up with over the last few seasons we are still up for it.
And I’m no different.
The little I have seen of pre-season has shown a couple of things that warrant being optimistic.
We are getting quite good at playing the ball quickly out of defence and we have front players with pace.
At any level that is an important ability for a team to possess.
At this level it’s priceless!
Even if we are being pushed back, we still have a good chance on the counter.
Cut out the silly mistakes and we have a side capable of challenging for promotion.
In the words of the great Oscar Wilde, who was quite a decent defender I think, ( well I’ve heard he was very good at the back):
“Between the optimist and the pessimist, the difference is droll.
The optimist sees the doughnut; the pessimist the hole!”
I’m a doughnut person – a great big jammy, sugary, creamy, sticky one.
And I’m going for a win on Saturday.
3-1
All you pessimists can stick your fingers in the hole!
and moxey ate the bleeding doughnut in one !
yes but his did not have a hole in the middle. His was full of the jam the fat feker!!!
thinking about it he does resemble a doughnut with pretzel arms and legs whilst being a lot less useful bilesey mate..moxey out by the way !
Had to laugh mate. I aint been called Bilesey since I was at school ……… and that was a long time ago!! Off to Morcambe tonight as I’ve never been near the seaside for a long time now lol
the only other thing that you’ve not seen for a while is a Wolves win eh 🙂
I can’t wait for this season…new beginnings and a much needed new look wolves.
PNE 1-2 Wolves
Got a bad feeling about this, particularly with respect to kevin davies, the sort of older experienced player i would have loved to see down here. With heavy heart and a fragile defence, lose 3-1 and fans in meltdown. ho hum.
Preston 2 Wolves 1
Hoping to be proven hopelessly wrong.
Many thanks to Ben and Thomas for the blog – a godsend for those of us on the far side of the world! After the last two seasons I’m actually excited about this season. If we can stay relatively injury-free then I think we have a chance for automatic promotion. If not then at least the play-offs. Need a win to start us off so a slightly optimistic Wolves win for me. COYW
Preston 1 Wolves 2
ill take it that youre not going Saturday then jw ? 🙂
goldy if your calling him a part timer i think thats a touch harsh mate.
it does seem a feeble excuse colin …a bit lame. ive even gone with a COLD !!
can’t make it this week, promised the wife I’d take her shopping… only a couple of games a season when I’m back – a long way to come to watch crawley (not even sure where crawley is)
near Gatwick airport and the closest away match for me this season…what time will it be at 3 o clock mate ?I mean when its 3 here by the way – whereabouts in japan are you ?
Well I have had my tenner on Griffiths to be top goalscorer in Div 3….hopefully he gets 25 by xmas as no doubt fat man will sell him at that point!
Had forgotten what it was like to look forward to my team playing but the optimism has returned, although I do think this will be a tight game, and they will be in the shake up at the end of the season along with us, I am going for a draw.
Preston 2 – 2 Wolves
UTW
I’m going for 2-2.
Wolves are still a fledgling team but I can see goals from both sides, due to our porous defence and Goal machine Griffiths up front.
I think we should just concentrate on the important things like jacket is!! However I am optimistic about the new season and I will support wolves regardless of what league we’re in. I think this squad is going to be the blackpool premiership team of league 1 a lot of goals my bets on Griffiths to score 30 and concede a lot aswell. Would like us to sign 4 players preferably for me Frimpong, Maguire and a striker if doyle goes. Although I can see sako going and I don’t know whether fullbacks have really be sorted sad to see Doherty not getting chance he played well last season.
Yeah can see this going either way, but I favour a 2-2 draw first up with Griffiths to score at least one.
Not an easy one to start with or predict. I suspect we’ll leak a couple and score a couple so I’ll go for 2-2 draw.
Last season I predicted with my heart not my brain.
At this stage far to many unknowns, but I hope I am wrong, I can not realisitically see a win for us. A draw maybe.
I am going 2-2, but hope i am proved wrong.
I agree with you Thomas, not defending as a team looks as if it could be a problem in the short term at least, but we do seem to be strong going forward so perhaps we’ll score more goals than we let in. I’ll predict Preston 2 Wolves 3 and just hope I’m right.
I’m sure PNE will score, but I think we will too – PNE 2 Wolves 4 for me.
Sigurdarson goal for a
1-1 Draw
I’m going Preston 1 wolves 2
Tettenhall Wolf and I will be listening in from Udine in northern Italy on our way to see two world class Wolves, Freddie Lindgren and Tai Woffinden, in the Italian speedway grand prix. I don’t think there’ll be too many world class footballers from Wolverhampton for the timebeing but let’s be positive.
PNE 2 Wolves 3
Well its been a long time coming…but with a traveling support of 5000 I feel a wave of positivity!
I agree our defence will be leaky…as per usual…but I think our attacking play will overpower many teams in this division without too many problems…
Wolves to win 3-2
UTW…
1-1 wish I could be there but I have to marry Katherine Jenkins on Saturday
🙂
May the team give you a win as a present!
I think his mind will be elsewhere robin ! I bet they met on online dating site….
Preston 1 wolves 3 Griffiths hatrick!!!!
Kevin Davies against our greenhorns,he’s got to score ; but so will we.I’ll go for a Wolves win.
PNE 1 Wolves 2
Excited to have the season start and have the opportunity to defend my Wolvesblog prediction title.
Pessimism worked for me last year…
PNE 2-Wolves 1
Really want to predict a win but I know better. 2-2. Just get something, boys.
One of the toughest matches of the season I reckon. 1-1.
Watched Swansea last night. A little over a year ago we were both in the prem. I look at the players Swansea have bought and the ones that we have sold. Look at were the sides are now. Swansea are in Europe and we are in the third division. It has to tell you something. Not being negative – stating a fact.
2-1 To the Wolves.
Optimism Lives!
Hi everyone – its good to be back! Better if we were an a higher division, but here we are!
Head on the block – a 2-1 win in our favour.
We will go behind to an early goal because we are still asleep. we will then batter our way back in and take the lead. Then there will be a pretty frantic last 10 minutes, where PNE hit us with everything!
With Jez still lurking the corridors of power I’m not sure we’ve reached the bottom of our downward spiral yet.
Preston 2-1 Wolves
I’d really like to think we’d win, but after the pre-season friendlies I can’t see us not conceding which means that for some period of the game Preston will be upbeat and putting pressure on.
I don’t like to be pessimistic because I truly believe this is a new dawn, but I wish we’d got an easier first fixture.
Preston 2 Wolves 1.
Still I’ll be there and be more than happy to be proved wrong!
Three more sent to the saltmines making six. I believe eight have left though I stand to be corrected. Total fourteen. Sako is expected to leave. Jackett wants to find a temporary home,at least, for one of the goalkeepers. Total now sixteen. Arrivals one. Can anyone tell me the strength of our first team squad now ? And how many have started a league game ?
Hi All
Followed the blog through for a season or two, thought Id contribute witticisms, satire and actually predict games. Feeling positive about the team and direction, but have a strange feeling for tomorrow. I think we will score, I think we will also concede and maybe Preston being a bit seasoned to this league, being dark horses and our fresh faced kids still stepping up, they may beat us. 2-1 Preston, sorry!
dark horses ..fresh faced kids-sounds like world war one . I really hope no-ones dug a trench across their lovely pitch…..lets hope as in world war one we win the division 3 war ! welcome Suffolk wolf mate 🙂
Thanks mate.
Overall and in the bigger picture, I am feeling very positive. Loving the chance the youth are getting. A slug in League 1 will toughen them up further!
…and who couldn’t possibly support KJ in his dumping of O’Hara and Johnson
Cant help but feel the treatement of Doyle is shabby. A year ago M**** was proud of his loyalty now he is ostracized with the bad boys. If we dont want him let him go with our blessing even if it means we all get one beef and potato pie less.
4-2 to the Old Gold n Black!
Well, here we are, the new season ready to begin.
Who knows how we will do, with only 2 of last game starting 11 likely to start tomorrow.
The 5000 fans deserve a result, but football aint like that.
Deepdale is a great place to go. Proper club.
Preston 1 Wolves 3
UTW
I was going to start with a hint of pessimism (realism?) and suggest a loss caused by a late leaked goal but I’m so excited by what I’ve seen pre-season and overcome by optimism that I’m going to start off my prediction season with a big ol’ win – 3-1 to Wolves.
Watching Sheffield utd v notts county I must say I’m quite impressed with both teams and the style of football , this league may be a lot tougher than we give it credit for wolves will certainly have to be on their game every week if tonight is anything to go by. GREASEL OUT!
After travelling to Barnsley and watching last weekend, I’m concerned that we will continue to give away soft goals due to a leaky defence. I’m guessing we’ll let two go past us again and unlikely to score three so expecting a 2 – 2 draw. No negativity though if we happen to lose tomorrow, we must be patient; based on the level of entertainment last weekend, things are getting better,
Wolves 2 Preston 1
We should have firepower, but then they have Kevin D and he’s nailed on to score against us. Also our defence still needs to settle down and the realities of L1 will kick in with the young guns (as well as the old ones). So it could mean plenty of goals, unless early season caution takes over. So I’ll go for the perhaps unlikely score of 3-3. A good score for a FL 125yrs anniversary game (or however old it is).
Don’t think we’ll keep a clean sheet so going for PNE 1 – 2 Wolves
Hope im proved wrong but I go for Preston 3 Wolves 1
My heart says 2-1, but my mind says 2-2 and a point to start the campaign. I am going with 2-2 and the draw for my pick from sunny Phoenix Arizona.
I was just heading out for my wife’s 40th birthday party and I thought shit I haven’t got my prediction in. I was going to go with a 2 – 1 win to our boys, but there seems a lot of those. So Preston 0 wolves1. Siggy.
PNE 3-5 Wolves.
I may be nuts but I hope that the lads have a good go at it this afternoon.
Though I’m pretty sure that Davies will nail us.
1-2. Sako’s last goal in gold and black. Wont be watching as league 1 doesnt airs in india.
Not enough has changed for me yet. I think we’ll still be in this division next year. I think we will end up closer to the bottom than the top so I go 2-0 Preston.
Good to see everyone, hope everyone has had a good end of season break and are now refreshed for what is likely to be another rollercoaster season of being a wolves fan. A good few positives to take from pre season is the amount of quality we have in youth and the unity starting to show again. Not all deadwood has been cleared although on that same note the best haven’t yet gone either. If Sako is still here at the end of the month he will be decisive in this league i doubt he will be here though so why he is still here lets take advantage. Im going for a strong start against a good preston side, and i think that hopefully the experiences of the last few years are gone and were going start with a 2-1 win. Win, lose or draw its a start to a very long season. Get your scarves back out boys cause its saturday 3pm again!
Up the wolves
I’m going for optimism & I’ll say Preston 1 Wolves 2. My worry like others is our leaky defense & I would like to see that strengthened before the window closes plus another couple of signings.
My hubby (who’s an Ipswich supporter) is going for a clear win Preston 0 Wolves 3. He isn’t quite so positive about his own teams chances thought!!!
Lets just get out there, back the lads & do our best.
Come on Wanderers!!!!
My apologies I misheard him (well wasn’t really listening). He says Preston 1 Wolves 3 & he thinks Ipswich will win 2-0!
Wolves 1 preston 1
Clean sheet 0-0, what a great start to the season!
Very good point from several perspectives.
We didnt lose.
We didnt concede.
We are still unbeaten.
A good point from a difficult fixture.
The shit didnt win.
we want doughnut out !! the jammy git is STILL at wolves
