Amidst the euphoria of wrapping up promotion and the League One title, I neglected to update the final Prediction League standings.

So a belated and apologetic congratulations to Dave H, who romped home to victory, amassing a colossal 45 points in the process.
To average nearly a point per game is impressive. Nobody got even close to that, as the six point margin between first and the chasing pack demonstrates:

But well done to the top 10, who can all be very pleased with their efforts. I think about late 20s, early 30s was the par if you were predicting regularly. I was well below this mark.
You can view the complete final standings on the Prediction League page here. Thanks to everyone who took part. It seems to get bigger and more competitive every season, which is great.
The goal for me next season is to automate the whole process so the table is updated in real time and it doesn’t rely on me manually entering everyone’s score. All ideas and input welcome as always.
Pre-season predos
Some of you might recall an article published back in July 2013, titled ‘Cards on the table‘, in which I encouraged you to share some insights into how you felt the season would go.
My three predictions were as follows:
1. Wolves will finish in the top 6, but fall short of automatic promotion.
2. Richard Stearman will be our best performing defender.
3. Dave Edwards will score at least 10 goals.
Glad to have been proven wrong with prediction 1.
Richard Stearman had an excellent season and I would personally say he was our best central defender, out-performing Danny Batth. However, Sam Ricketts was my defender of the season.
Dave Edwards fell just one goal short of allowing me to feel smug, but given that he only played regularly for half a season, his 9 goals represented an excellent return.
So in short, I was wrong on all counts.
But it’s all good fun and interesting to reflect on how most of our opinions have been altered over the course of this wonderful season.
I encourage you to check out that post here, look at your respective predictions and comment below on how you did.
And remember, good or bad, you were brave enough to comment.
That’s what I tell myself anyway.

Well Done to Dave h.
Enjoyed taking part, it adds to the seasons enjoyment. Hope to see it back next season when predictions will be harder!
Congratulations to Dave h.
I made five predictions.
I was right with one,
half right with another,
wrong with two…
…and I’m still working on the fifth.
Two weeks in Cyprus might help my cause.
Off on Wednesday, I’ll let you know what happens when I get back.
I look forward to next season! Aiming for number top this time, instead of joint 2nd!
Or even number 1…d’oh!
Oh dear, I didn’t do very well at all!
1. England to win the Ashes
2. Griffiths L1 top scorer
3. Wolves away following to outnumber the home support on at least 2 occasions
4. Morgan and Jackett make earnest attempts to re-engage the supporters, Moxey tries but is about as believable as a tory minister saying “we’re all in this together”
5. First (serious) ‘Jackett Out’ cries start around Christmas time
6. Promotion with a new, homegrown young and hungry team
I did get number 6 bang on the money though, and that was the best of all of them!
Regarding next year’s league, is there a way to set up a survey or voting tool or similar? It could run along side the traditional comment section, and would have the benefits of allowing people to waffle on for ages about various score permutations knowing that none of it counted for the league, while also reducing the scores of people whose comments consist of nought but a score line.
I think I remember you saying something about a voting /survey system at the meet up but can’t recall the conclusion.
Congratulations Dave h United had Golden Balls, we’ve got Crystal Balls.
Damn good work that man.
🙂
I went for
1. We’ll be solid until the New Year without threatening to win the League.
2. Purchases of 2 or 3 new players in the January transfer window will see us catapult to the top.
3. We’ll slip up at the end and only get promoted via the play-offs.
4. We will still despise Moxey.
So 1&2 (Dicko, Clarke) were ok, 3 was plain wrong and I guess the jury is still out on 4.
First of all, again, thanks to you and Ben for the regular blogs and running the prediction league to add a bit of fun to our journey through league 1. I think predictions next season will be a bit more challenging with a tougher league to be playing in. Looking forward to it.
In hindsight, my predictions (below) from last July were a little “safe” – I was in a very dark place with Wolves management at the time, and really had no idea where they were going with it all after the shenanigans of blunderous managerial appointments. Honestly, I had little hope for Mr Jackett at the time and had no idea what to expect. At this stage I should acknowledge all those who told me to give him a chance at the time … they were right, I was wrong. In hindsight I can say without any hesitation he was the best man for the job. Thank you Mr Jackett.
Back to last year’s predictions, well, I guess I got #1 and #3 (safely) right, but I would say that on #2 they spent the right amount on the right players and got the job done. I don’t know what to predict for next season yet though and will want to see what happens over summer first. Not all my cynicism about Wolves management is gone yet. I still think the underlying traits of going cheap and skimping whenever they can are still there. (Sorry guys, I’ll apologize if they prove me wrong, but still am skeptical about how much they’ll invest this summer and whether they will bring in the right players to get promoted again.) So I’ll wait until end of July to make up my mind.
Meantime, I wish everyone on here a great summer.
Go Wolves!!

1. Morgan and Moxey will still be in charge.
2. Barely any money (if any) will be spent on new players.
3. Top ten finish.
I have said this before getting out of the championship is more difficult than staying in the prem, in a well run club that is.
The sooner that we get managers to manage and the money men to do what the manager says the better all round for football.
If you are a head coach what do you do coach heads? But seriously coach in your title suggests that you are in charge of training and others are in charge of transfer dealings, that’s never going to work is it.
1/ If Clarke goes to a championship team as I’m hearing he will score against us.
2/ If Ward goes to Brighton he will score against us.
3/ If Johnson goes to Wednesday he will score against us.
Here is hoping for another great season and further progression of this young team. Can’t wait for it to start!!!!
Thanks Ben and Tom for all your long hours putting out the blog every week. It made my season that much more enjoyable.
Your pre-match analyses, and the prediction challenge, helped us to focus from week to week, altho I did believe last season that we must surely win it – I expected us to be 10 points clear by Xmas, but it took a little bit longer for Kenny to get it all together. It was fun winning at the bookies most weeks, and to get a payout from Paddy Power on Wolves winning the league -they were 4 to 1 at the start of the season.
Have already had a fiver on our team to win the Championsip at 20 to 1.
Whoever recommended ‘Family Life. Death andf Football’, by Michael Calvin, the book about Kenny Jackett’s 2009/10 season at Millwall – thanks a lot – it’s a gem -shows just how clued up he really is.
Looking forward to August ! Have a good holiday everyone.
Congratulations Dave H, you had more faith in the team and it paid dividends, and like The Wolves it was a brilliant performance!
Thanks to Thomas for your meticulous counting and dedication.
I actually joined too late for last seasons ‘cards on the table’ was busy hanging myself….lol
But…. I look forward to predicting with everyone this coming season ..it’s going to be difficult ..I reckon there will be 10 capable teams in it..us being in the better 5….
Ps . Who’d be Hodgson currently…
Well done Dave H & on a personal note I’m well chuffed to finish joint 2nd. Not bad for my 1st attempt.
I predicted that we would finish in the top 6, Griffiths would be our top scorer but can’t remember what my last one was as my iphone won’t bring it up!
We now have 4 hens added to our family, 2 are Gingernet Rangers – closest I could get to old gold & black!
Hope everyone has a great summer & let’s take the championship by storm next season.
Nov again big thank you to Thomas & Ben for the hard work producing this blog.

Sorry damn phone changed it!! Was meant to read once again!!
Not a great year for predictions from Kowloon. Dour football and a mid-table finish, or so I thought. How nice to be so completely wrong.
are you guys doing some kind of World Cup prediction league or dream Team type of thing for Wolves Bloggers? How about https://www.dreamteamfc.com/?
