With the first Black Country derby of the season just a few days away, my brain is well and truly frazzled.
You see, ahead of any big match I continually turn over every possible permutation in my head.

How bad will it be if lose?
What position will a win put us in?
Would I take a draw here and now?
It’s tiring.
Why I persist with this largely pointless exercise, I’m not sure.
It’s likely a self-preservation technique that was developed to help me through the traumatic and frequent low points of supporting Wolves throughout the 1990s.
Regardless, one particularly irksome hypothetical kept bouncing around my noggin and I was hoping you could help me come to a logical conclusion.
The proposition is this:
Wolves next two matches are West Brom away and Swansea at home.
You have two choices.
Option one – Win at the Hawthorns and lose to Swansea.
Options two – Draw at the Hawthorns and beat Swansea.
On the face of it, it’s a no-brainer right? Pick the second option because 4 points are better than 3 points. Easy.
But is beating clomid clomiphene infertility treatment Albion on their own patch for the first time in over 15 years worth sacrificing a point for?
A big part of me thinks it is.
Call it petty, call it short term joy, call it bragging rights, call it whatever the hell you want to – the temptation is just too great.
After all, football is about savouring the high points and victory over our stripey neighbours would be as delicious as anything else we’re likely to sample this season.
Decision made.
But just when I’m about to push the imaginary button for Option two, I can’t bring myself to do it.
The pragmatist within suddenly rears his bespectacled face, reminding me that every point is prisoner in the Premier League.
He’s right too.
But for a single point, we’d be playing Championship football this season, so can I in all good conscience be so frivolous?
Sure, beating the Baggies would be obscenely gratifying but relegation would surely be a pain like no other.
Anyway, you can see the hypothetical hell I’m living in, so my question is simple.
What would you do?

Points all day. I love Premier Wolves. I hate the a****n. But I’d hate to be playing them in the Championship even more so.
simple. beat the a****n, then stuff the swans, then win the next 3 home games on sky as well, then win the league, then…. oops, bit carried away there.
but of those 2 options: beat the a****n lose to swansea every time.
can we choose the manner of victory? how about we demolish the tescos 8-0, and then batter swansea but they have a motm performance from the keeper and the ref fails to award 2 blatant goals meaning everyone knows we should have won really.
Option 2 could in the end work out better because defeat to Swansea would almost wipe out any victory against Albion and have us all dejected again. However, a win at the Hawthorns is priceless. I’ve said myself 4 points out of the next two would have us back on track again. I’ve dodged the question really..
I’m an optimist so six points and champions league football by the end of the season!
Seriously, though as much as it pains me to say it (I’ve got a couple of mates who are big a****n fans and spent far too much time crowing last season) premiership points are much more important right now than bragging rights so option 2 it is. However, I also liked last season where we got the last laugh as we won at home and stayed up. I still love watching Fletch’s break away goal and how I really wish that that shot from Wardy had gone in!
Interesting conundrum Thomas, but it’s the extra point for me every time. But, then again, i’m not a local. I don’t have to take the shit off the shit, so to speak.
One other point. ‘relegation would surely be a pain like no other’. If i’m honest, i can’t say i’m enjoying this premiership experience that much. Seems pretty painful in itself. I think i could cope ok. But then again i didn’t have to go to Grimsby, Scunthorpe etc like the real supporters, so Arsenal, Man U etc would be more appealing . I just hate losing all the bleeding time.
Also, the graphics remind me of the joke where a bloke goes in a brothel and he comes to doors with a choice on each. FANNY or C*NT. Not unnaturally, he goes for the latter, opens the door and ends up on the street!
I know a few on here who would say that both doors should have C*NT on them.
Why limit yourself to 2 options?
The third option is obviously winning both, but option 4 will probably happen, we lose both.
Logic dictates that if we lose 6 on the bounce the manager will go……………but logic, Morgan and moxey are not words usually lumped together in the same sentence.
I will happily eat pie of the humble variety if we start, and keep winning, and finish respectably up the table…………….but quite honestly, I think my diet for the next 6 months will be of the liquid type, as my sorrows are well and truely drowned.
FOMM
Why the negativity? We can do without the negativity. Regardless of your personal views, support the team POSITIVELY. You are right, there should be a third option – WIN BOTH. But the question is 1 or 2. I go for door 2. Even though I BELIEVE there will be an option 3 – Come on you Wolves
Clive’s always like this lol
Probably go looking for a door that says win both and ending up losing both for my greed…
But still, since I’m fairly confident about a win at home against Swansea, I’ll take option 2!
Of course, I was that confident when Wolves went against QPR as well…
Rats, you beat me to it… Yes, it has to be said, mick is clueless, and his cluelessness will result in eons of staving off relegation until something somewhere gives and this very average manager is shown the door.
Ad Mant is being Negative AGAIN – Yawn!!!!
Bite my arse. Its my opinion, your only contribution is to comment on mine. Sad.
Westbrom has progressed since last year and is a difficult team to play against, so I’m quite happy with 1 point, thrilled with 3. Now we’re playing the games MM wants Wolves to win, to progress to the next level.
How long time do you think it takes before Zele Ismail features in a premier league match? He scored for the reserves not long ago and has adapted well.
I’m quite certain it will happen this season.
I’d put good money on it not happening this season, in the league, if ever.
Well i`m sorry but there is no excuse not to win both matches. MM has had these players long enough, they should know what he expects by now. If he gets the tactics right, as he does sometimes then we can win both games.
Form usually goes out of the window in frenetic local derbies, if we are slightly low in confidence – they must be on the floor. Losing will be a disaster, 5 on the trot is simply unacceptable, not good enough, utter cr*p.
Swansea have three players who made Ward look a complete tosser in the championship, so how we cope with their electric pace will be interesting. I`d bring Zubar in at right back, and put Searman in the centre as they are our quickest defenders. If we lose that one as well, MM will have some explaining to do, losing 6 on the trot, four of these at home and two to last season`s promoted sides is sack the manager fodder.
Especially when we’ll not get a result against Everton away, more likely than not… but I can’t see us not getting any points in these next two games!
*we probably won’t get a result against Everton*
Last match was very positive and we are going to win at least one of the games. 1 point away and 3 points home.
How can you say last match was positive?
We fuckin’ lost, for fuck’s sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boring – performance WAS positive. Just need to tidy up a few lapses in concentration – we will move upwards – Support the team you moron!!!
That’s 3 digs on the blog, from memory your first visit to our site.
Haven’t you got anything original to say?
Are you going to be like this every time you write something, or have you in fact got any constructive thought process in your head?
For your information, mormon, we are not negative on this site, but passionate about our team and also realistic.
We all support the club, and because we have such deep feelings we are super critical when things are going wrong and nothing appears to be happening to fix them.
So, get off your fuckin’ high horse, come up with something useful to say, other than “stop being negative” in that whiny assed voice of yours, or don’t bother at all.
In other words, of one sylable so you understand, shit or get off the pot.
FOMM
You’re the negativity, he’s the positivity – ying yang and all that! 🙂
He’s right mate, we are not negative on this site, he is 😉
I’ll take option 2 any day of the week, draw at the shit ground will do for me
beat the swans, then save the beating of the shit until we meet again at the
mol..that would do for me for know..The down side is it will prolong mm
stay, but for now i’ll take that.
MM is here for life anyway…
His guardian angel: Zele Ismail
Out of darkness cometh light
MM is here for life time anyway…
His guardian angel: Zele Ismail
Out of darkness cometh light
I checked with a maths professor and he assures me that:
4 > 3
At the end of the season, I am pretty sure that they add up the numbers not the amount of “good feelings and satisfaction”.
I would stop reading your blog for a week so you did not have to torture and involve me with your pyschological anguish about picking the correct door. The correct door by the way is a win away and then a win at home, 6 points. More than possible, up the wolves.
I would take the 4 points.
After recent results I am convinced that if we lose both of these games then it’ll be Championship next season, as really for a team that’s in its 3rd year in the Prem we ‘should’ be able to win games like this or certainly draw.
3 points good; 4 points better.
Three points fair, four better, six the best!
However there is the possibility of no points or one point.
The way we have been playing I will be surprised if we get one point.
Hodgson is likely to outthink McCarthy and Swansea are playing more cohesive football than we are.
I hope I am eating humble pie Saturday night and that miraculously the confidence will return but I am dubious.
If Henry and O’Hara start in midfield no points….
To be even thinking, Thomas, of the possibility of three points, let alone four is, considering the state of the team, setting your self up for heartache!
ahhh, but what if we draw both – then we’d have 2 points! didn’t think of that one, did yer?!
Why shouldn’t we assume that? In both games – especially Swansea – we can get at least a point and there’s a good chance of a win as well!
The only door available should be the one McMuppet is closing on his way out of our club.
As that door is still being constructed I will choose door two – points make prizes and all.
Is there no Guest House again this week then? THAT would’ve got the juices flowing…
Yeah, Thomas, haven’t you found a shit fan who can read and converse in more than the occasional grunt?
Thomas said when explaining the lack of Guest House before the Newcastle game that he was “keeping his powder dry” for this weekend. My breath is duly bated. At this point I’ll settle for nothing less than hurling some choice invective at Frank Skinner.
haha can we get chiles involved too please?
Sorry boys 🙁

…I did try, but never got a response.
I’ll cook something up for the return match.
Over analysis to my mind!
Objective: Avoid relegation, push top half finish
Approach: One game at a time.
Measure: Obtain 3 points from each game + good performance + no injuries.
Shimples!
We’ve got more possession but no real scoring chances… Need to pull something off in the second half!
