Oldham away on a blustery Tuesday evening is the sort of fixture that can make or break a promotion-chasing season.

Digging out a result, particularly a win, you feel would be significant over a team we’ve already played three times this season.
The league match at Molineux back in October turned into a routine win after their goalie spilled a cross onto the foot of James Henry. But the performance was less than convincing.
Wolves weren’t as fortunate in the FA Cup where Oldham deservedly progressed after dominating the replay.
Kenny Jackett has been able to mastermind a significant increase in performance levels since then, so this promises to be an interesting encounter.
Oldham
Performance of the weekend belonged to the Latics as they battled back from 3-0 and 4-2 down to beat Peterborough 5-4 on Saturday.
Lee Johnson’s men needed that boost after narrow back-to-back defeats against Walsall and Port Vale had threatened to drag them back into relegation strife.
Their home form reads won 5, drawn 3, lost 4, scored 16, conceded 15 – so very little to pick out of that other than to expect a tight game.
When you take out the 9 goals that were shared around at the weekend, you realise how difficult it’s been for teams to take anything from Boundary Park this season.
Wolves
Other than resting players, there’s no real reason to change Saturday’s team. I just wonder if Kenny Jackett might be thinking of handing Sako a start?

It’s hard to foresee Griffiths or Doyle starting given that both are being heavily linked with the exit door. If both were to leave you wonder whether one striker (Leon Clarke) would be enough to fill the void.
A couple of interesting days lie ahead, which I’m sure we’ll all be reflecting on in May as being pivotal to our season.
The odds
Wolves are favourites for the win at 11/10. Oldham are 14/5 and the draw is 5/2.
If you fancy Nouha Dicko to carry on where he left off on Saturday you can get 5/1 on him opening the scoring. Kevin McDonald came close against Bristol City and he’s long overdue a goal. He’s at 12/1.
All odds are available here.

Predictions
It was points galore again in the PL as 54 people correctly thought we’d overcome Bristol City.
11 pundits also got the 3-1 scoreline to double up so well done to all of them.
Really stuck on the fence for this one. I don’t think Oldham will let us dictate the play as we’ve been able to do at home in recent weeks.
But we have the far superior quality, so on that basis I’ll back us to edge it.
2-1
Up The Wolves

The weathers not great in this part of the world , Is it anywhere at the moment though. I’m only 20 miles from Oldham, That said we should have enough quality to see this one through although I’m not sure it’ll be easy.
Oldham 1-3 Wolves – COYW !
another dominant display from the wanderers. 2-0, dicko and sako. (sako to start)
I’m feeling positive after recent weeks and I look at that team on paper and think surely we’re going to be able to beat Oldham. That said, football doesn’t really work like that. I’m still going to go for a 3-1 Wolves win though.
Gonna plump for 2-1 to the Old Gold – Dicko and McDonald
Not expecting a goal feast
Oldham 0 – Wolves 1
Like most I’m feeling pretty positive. Oldham 0 Wolves 2.
It’s been really tight up at their Park.
2-0 to Wolves.
Oldham 1-2 Wolves
I’m going with the Oldham 1 Wolves 2 prediction!
Dicko to score, Sako to start.
Oldham 1 – 2 Wolves
Come on Wanderers!
Oldham 0:2 Wolves
If ever there was 2 games that could prove really important to keep pace then it’s these nxt 2 ..confidence is up Sako has scored before he starts lol and our new man Dicko for one too ..I give them 1 so 1-2 to Wolves..
Oldham 0-4 Wolves
Look out for my hometown Gibraltars first ever apperance at the Euros qualifying draw soon, huge wolves fanbase over here!
I recon it will be one of those draws..
Oldham 1-1 Wolves
The title run has begun and will be a comfortable 3 points. Wolves 4-1. Easy.
Always positive.
Wolves 3 Oldham 1
I’m going for a 3-0 win expecting them to be tired from the weekend.
Oldham 1 Wolves 2
You have to win these to gain automatic promotion
Oldham 2 Wolves 3 – and I’m putting my thermals on tonight as I reckon it wil be cold down there (I am travelling from my home in North Yorkshire so only an hour and a half journey there)
UTW/FOWB
Oldham will be full of confidence tonight, so we will need to knock it out of them with an early goal. I reckon we can do it. It’s a close 2 -3 win for me.
Oldham 0 wolves 1 tight scrappy game but an all important win
Oldham 0 Wolves 2
First Wolves game today for me.
I hope we get that win to keep the pressure on the top teams.
I’m gonna go for a 2-0 routine win.
2-2; though I’m hoping for a win I think Oldham are a decent outfit
Oldham 1 – 2 Wolves
We should be doing the double over them! Hoping for a 2-1 win for Wolves, Dicko and Griffiths to score!
My heart tells me 2-1 to Wolves, so buggar what my head says.
After Saturday we will have to make sure we are four goals in front before we relax.
Oldham are obviously a team with great spirit.
Luckily we too are a team with great spirit and now, thanks to Kuddly Ken’s impressive imports, a large smattering of skill.
I think we will win by two goals.
3-1
By the way, I’ve put a few minutes of Saturday’s game up on Youtube.
I missed the first goal but managed to get the others, and some of Bert’s tribute.

Enjoy!
I did enjoy the footage. Many thanks.
You’re welcome mate.
I know there are a lot of Wolves supporters scattered around the known universe who appreciate a bit more than they get on sky highlights.
Even if it is a bit shaky and the odd goal is missed.
Excellent video coverage, you might think about a new career.
Don’t be surprised if you get a bill in the mail from greasel for copyright infringements or something.
The first time Mrs. ClivefromHouston graced the Mol with her presence she nearly got thrown out before the match, for taking pictures!!
It was years ago when we played Coventry, the same week Emlyn Hughes died, and we were on our first trip to the UK together, and of course the Golden Palace was one of the anticipated highlights for her.
Some officious prick took exception to her camera and threatened to throw her out.
I told him in no uncertain terms, a) what about all the cell phone cameras being used, are you going to eject virtually everyone else, b) she is from America where spectators are treated with a bit more respect, and c) I would sue him, his family, his dog, the Wolves and anyone else I could think of, especially after the untold thousands, nay millions, I’ve spent over the course of my lifetime supporting the team.
A calmer headed steward arrived and defused the situation, but I was royally pissed off at the time.
And to cap it all, we lost.
Anyway, I digress. I expect to see similar wonderful video highlights from every game for the rest of the season.
Stay warm in Oldham!!
Cheers for that Clive.
I appreciate a bit of positive criticism.
I only wish I could be at Oldham. Unfortunately other commitments, work etc., get in the way of following the lads around.
You can be sure that the next match I attend will be accompanied by a short filmed masterpiece.
And if we get bothered by any stewards, I’ll set the present Mrs DOOGooder on them.
Or mention your name… That’ll shut them up.
So very tricky to call . Dreadful conditions predicted ….so , just like Saturday against Bristol the clever footie we’ve just rediscovered is somewhat negated . I really can’t see Oldham reproducing those efforts twice in the same week . Fantastic for their fans but – we’ve all been there – reality comes knocking . A horribly tight game of attrition is what I foresee but with the home fans so disapointed …a late but narrow Wolves win .
I’ve given up on my regular optimistic predictions ,[ and even not leaving them ] and as a result our fortunes have changed !! I shan’t win the prediction league now anyway . So , I would not like this one nil away win to be counted .Instead ;
Oldham 2 Wolves 0 .
UTW
They’ve got to be leggy after that epic last weekend, surely. Plus, my recent negative predictions haven’t netted me any points. Oldham 0 – 3 Wolves.
In response to your question: yes, I think one good No. 10 with MacAlinden, Keita, Bradders & Bancessi as backup would be enough. But please, get a young, hungry, positive one in and not Leon.
Think it might be a tough one tonight we really need to win, but i think it will end 1-1
Saw Neil Lennon on Sky last night, looked very smug as he talked about Griffiths, almost as if he knew he was going to get his man.
I recall as a youngster Leon Clarke was billed as the next Steve Bull. Well that wasn`t the case of course, but the lad can score goals, has put in a transfer request, and it seems he wants to come home. Can`t think of anything else worse in football than playing for the sky blues, apart of course playing for, as my mate Clive says, fowb.
As for tonight – some pressure here, we need the points even though it sounds like a night for hard knocks and little football because of the weather and another heavy pitch., come on Wolves – a 3-1 win again please.
Major weather disaster in Houston this morning, we had snow!!
Yes, it lasted for about 3 minutes then turned back to rain, but freezing rain, so this little bunny is staying inside in the warm, I don’t do frost any more!
Anything below 65 degrees is friggin’ cold!
There will be five goals scored by one team for the second match running at Boundary Park, but it will be mighty Wanderers doing the scoring!
Wufflers 5 Old ’em 1
I’m predicting a loss, but im not sure which way this will go. The last 2 games I’ve said we would lose and we won so I’ve stick with that formula, for now anyway.
A win would keep up the pressure on the top two they’ll have games in hand on us but they’ve still got to win them anything else would be disappointing especially the way we’ve been playing although I’d gratefull for a win what ever the performance.
Diko has to start and if we are on top why not put Griffiths on as well.
Wolves 2 Oldham 1
I’m with you on this one Thomas. It’s not going to be an easy game but Wolves to win 2-1.
Oldham 1 Wolves 3
Hoping Oldham will be overconfident after the last result and we can shake them with an early goal.
More of the same, please.
I’d stick with same team as Saturday. Let’s hope Oldham have run out of goals!!!
Going for Oldham 1 Wolves 2
Would like to see more action around transfers – both out & in. No reason why we can’t win this league, but need to strengthen if we’re to do it. Kenny’s signings have been great, so far.
Tough one, they will be full of confidence after that result at the weekend…but then so should we…tight game but I think we will edge it.
Oldham 0 – 2 Wolves
UTW
Latics 1 Wolves 2
Hoping for a carbon copy of the home league game.
Oldham 0-2 Wolves
Working on the basis we can score more than them,Ill go for….
Oldham 1 Wolves3
Oldham 1-3 Wolves
Posh have been all over the place of late, the result at the weekend just shows that it has not really improved for them. We are playing good football and now have a player who is bang in form up front, in Dicko. We will have too much for them.
I agree that Oldham may be tired after Saturday, and our lads are fighting for their places, playing 90 mins these days (95 if necessary). Not sure who’ll start knowing Mr Jackett, but we have plenty of goalscorers.
Oldham 0 Wolves 3
Oldham 0 – 2 Wolves for me please
Looking to continue our form so I’m going for 2-1 like a lot of punters on this site.
UTW…
Be a bit of a slog tonight and a tough battle. I can only go for another Wolves win – this time by 3-1
🙂
Oldham 2 Wolves 2
Oldham 0 – 2 Wolves
1- 0 to the Wolves
UTW
Not sure how this one will go so I’m going for a draw.
Oldham 1-1 Wolves
Oldham 1 – 3 Wolves
Oldham 0 wolves 1
2-1 to WWFC.
Thinking of this game, an away game at Grimsby in our 2003 promotion winning season came to mind. I was thinking it was a foul night, with Sturridge scoring from a tight angle in one of his first games. But no – that was actually a cold night in November at Wimbledon the season before! But it feels similar to going to Oldham now. It was 1-0 to us in both of those games, so I’ll go for Oldham 0 Wolves 1.
Reckon it will be a tight nail biting wanderers 1-0 victory.
2-1 to the Wolves
I nearly went for 3 – 1 the other day, so I will go for it tonight!!!
i’am going for a 2-0 win for wolves
