Prior to last weekend our excuse has been conceding early and conceding first.
But despite getting ahead in the opening minutes against both Fulham and Cardiff, we’ve only mustered a one point return.
They say good teams find a way to win, but at the moment the opposite seems true for Wolves.
It’s worrying times for Paul Lambert and he’ll already know there are some crippling deficiencies in this team that must be addressed in January.
In the meantime, this is another fixture against a team in and around us in the table. Another defeat would be difficult to swallow.
Forest
The good news for Wolves is that it looks like Forest’s two most dangerous players will be ruled out.
Both Henri Lansbury and Britt Assombalonga – who’ve both netted against Wolves in recent encounters – have got hamstring injuries.
Still, they’re among the league’s top scorers so will likely possess a threat from others like former Blues and Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner.
Despite a thumping at Derby and a draw at home to Preston their recent form hasn’t been too shabby. Three wins preceded those matches.
Off the field they’re trying to push through a takeover and from the outside looking in it seems like they need that fresh impetus.
Wolves
Where does Paul Lambert go from here? Given that our midfield has been almost non-existent, perhaps going two up top again wouldn’t be a bad call?

Neither Bodvarsson or Dicko are thriving as the lone striker so playing a more direct game might suit the players we’ve got.
I’d still be taking Iorfa out of the firing line, who I think has seriously struggled in recent months.
It seems likely Helder Costa will miss out so perhaps playing Teixeira or someone else slightly tucked in down the right could be an option?
Predictions
Call me an optimist but I think we might win this one. Not because I’m seeing the shoots of recovery or anything, more I just think Forest are there for the taking.
With the exception of Cardiff, many of the away performances haven’t been too awful even though results haven’t really gone our way.
I foresee another topsy-turvy encounter tomorrow, but hopefully we’ll come out on the right side of the scoreline.
2-1.
Up The Wolves!

You could perm any 11 from the fit players we have and still not come up with a decent side you would honestly back to win a game at the moment.
Confidence is obviously shot in all our players.
I think Price should definately start the other 10 I couldn’t care less as long as they show some bloody effort and try to win the game.
Call me a stupid optimist but I am going for a win.
There’s not a chance Borthwick-Jackson will start. The back four will remain unchanged.
If Costa isn’t fit, the only change will be on the right of midfield as that will be enforced on Lambert. Price will probably come back in as well after being rested. I’d go with Bodvarsson on the right and stick with 4-3-3, he did it for Iceland in the Euros so don’t see why it can’t work for Wolves on Saturday.
Your’e a stupid optimist.
Thanks Bedford nice to have it confirmed
Getting into the Christmas spirit on this win and going for a crazy high scoring away win (must lay off that cheap Sherry).
Will be my 4th visit to the City Ground. First was a midweek 0-1 defeat when Shaun Newton missed a late penalty. Then a glorious 1-0 win in the sunshine under Super Mick as we were headed for the title and promotion when Kightly scored the only goal of the game about 10 minutes from the end in front of the packed away end. Lastly was a 2-1 win as we pushed, unsuccessfully, for the play-offs with goals from Afobe (ran from the half way line) and a Sako penalty.
Important to grab 3pts now so the team spirit can get a boost before we head into the christmas program.
I so wish I could share your optimism – but I can’t. Maybe me telling them they are going to lose will gee them up. Here’s hoping I am wrong once again.
It’s so disappointing to have your hopes for the season pretty much dashed before Christmas. I think lambert desperately needs January. One top quality centre half central midfielder and a striker, get rid of some just sign 3 quality players and make a push for a top ten finish.
I can’t see us winning at forest so I’ll go for a narrow defeat.
Let me tell all the wolvesbloggers something about January,
If we’re in the relegation zone in January NOBODY good will want to sign for us. They will stay put or sign for clubs like Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday that aren’t failing.
We’ll end up paying over the odds for a player of Joe Mason’s quality or worse. Or if Thelwell has any influence we’ll be buying children from Swindon and Newport.
Sorry to be a misery.
Oh, do cheer up!!!
Im my mind the midfield is key; given our defence it needs to be ultra competitive. Playing Edwards allows us to play 5 in midfield but still offer a threat going forward. So I would not play Bodvarrson but keep him on the bench and bring him on when we have earned the right to play. This would also allow you to play Iorfa by giving him more mid field protection.
Lets face it whilst our full backs have made mistakes both Iorfa and Doherty do help us get forward.
Like most people, I’m looking forward to seeing who we can bring in come January, but I don’t hold out much hope equally. It would be nice to let Lambert craft his own version of a side though, rather than have to rely on what we’ve already got and a few underwhelming foreign loan signings. On that note, my expectations are limited for Saturday.
If lambert plays Saville then he’s lost my support he can not justify keep picking him I’d go with Price to give the back four some protection and without doubt………Paul……we need 2 up front the lone striker hasn’t worked there just hasn’t been enough support from midfield.
I wouldn’t be bothered if we did to Forest what Cardiff did to us just get the ball in there box as much as possible the law of averages dictates we will get chances espeacilly with 2 up.
For me as I’ve said this is a make or break game as far as Lamberts concerned for me. He team selections, tatics and formations plus his subs have been average at best since he came in, I know he can only work with what he’s got but in my eyes he hasn’t helped himself as per above.
I cannot see a win purely because of the defence and like I say if he goes with Saville and 1 up front I fear a drubbing.
100% agree! Wolves don’t score goals, the defense don’t want to fight, the midfield? Omfg!!
Lambert should be given time to turn things around, but I am afraid we will stay in the bottom fighting for survival.
Forest 3
Wolves 0

Vargas
Wish I was going but it sold out before I got my sh*t together. In summary… I’m a stupid b***er.
Brilliant line-up there too. Right to drop Iorfa, two of our more physical midfielders holding the centre, and Coady and Edwards are wasted in central midfield as they’re both runners (and goalscorers in Dave’s case). I’d play Edwards on the wing or just behind Dicko in a 4411.
442 was the system that allowed our amazing comeback vs Fulham last weekend.
Is Lambert brave enough to go for it though, or will we have safety first?
I’m all for the Dadi and Dicko up front. Agree Price is a must and Saville is a definite no. We have the players in midfield and up front but not the right game plan. Over to you PL.
Personally I think the confidence is absolutely shot in the current group of players and January is a massively important month. A few new recruits and the return of some of our injured players may see us pull away from the bottom but the current group of available players look lost when the pressure is on.
I can’t see us winning this so I’m going for a draw but even that is with blind optimism.
I think the line up will be similar to what we’ve seen before as Lambert doesn’t have too many options at present but I hope personally never to see Teixeira in a Wolves shirt again. When he came on against Cardiff he was useless and his last few appearances have been so half hearted it would seem he wants to be elsewhere.
If Tex, Saville or Iorfa are anywhere near the first team we’re gonna get battered.
I get the impression with Tex that hes deliberately not trying so that we send him back to Portugal in January.
I’d replace Saville with Coady (if fit), and Iorfa with a traffic cone. I’d start Bod instead of Dicko for this one.
When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I support Wanderers
Will I be they be top
Here’s what she said to me
Que será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
So stop guessing the score and picking the team like a deluded Mystic Meg.
From one Wanderers to another Wycombes Aaron Pierre ?
Lamby could do with more inexperience to complement his incompetence.
Therefore,Wolves reported interest in Pierre,a 23 year old without a single second tier appearance to his name, fits Lamberts specifications.
Will I be they be top???
Lovely command of the English language.
Sums you up to a T
Cupid Stunt.
Skinskull from Skegness utters from his stairlift never ever seeing the Wolves.
The turkey has landed.
Do you just stick a pin in a book and write down whatever word is pricked?
Clive – come come now me lad, have some compassion, you know all them Sandwell Shadow Dwellers are as thick as bricks. Let’s face it if you supported a joke club like them and had to endure year after year of dire, desperate non-football under Tony Clueless you’d be a bit touched too. I blame Care In The Community.
The Sons of Rest from old mon Euston and Bedford have hijacked the Wolves Blog.
Get the Dominoes out, put your teeth in suckers and stop dribbling.
Oh mandy you came and you gave without taking
raining down as cold as ice
talking such a load of shite
happy people passed my way
looking in their eyes I see a memory
I never realised how angry you made me oh mandy
……. happy christmas
Love your optimism in such bleak times Thomas. I wish I could find the remaining strands of goodwill that are tucked away in the bottom of my stomach. It’s been a dreadful year, starting with the loss of David Bowie. I’m hoping next year will be the opposite, but in the meantime I can’t see us getting anything from the dregs of 2016.
I agree with Oliver. Terry Shearer definitely looks like he has thrown the towel in and cannot wait to get back to Portugal. I wouldn’t have him anywhere near the first team squad and I reckon we should be checking out Monarch flights to Lisbon right now!!
Every time I predict an away win we wind up losing so i’m using a bit of reverse psychology this week – Clever ‘eh?
“Will I be they be top?”
Amanda’s a Somerset girl then.
It’s not really fair to mock. We’ve all hit a wrong key and wished we could edit our remarks.
Seriously though, I am really worried about the Forest game.
I agree with most of my fellow bloggers that ‘Jimmy’ Saville should be allowed nowhere near the first team dressing room, let alone on the pitch.
Iorfa needs to go away for a while and consider his future. Performances like those we’ve seen from him won’t get him the move away he seems to want so badly.
But I would still retain Edwards for his goal threat.
We need SOMEONE who knows where the net is for God’s sake.
But as for the result, I be worried that I we will be beat by they boys from Forest, I be.
But I be not forecasting a defeat, I baint.
I be forecasting a draw.
I be.
Where’s that EDIT key?
Spot on DooGooder
I’ll settle for a point after the Cardiff second half disaster
COMBs!
We are a club in disarray.
Lambert’s midfield with Saville and Edwards does not inspire confidence.
The less said about the defence the better.
Can Lambert bring in the right players with the right attitude in January?
I shall be surprised.
So far, since the sacking of WZ the team performances have been disastrous.
I hope, but in reality cannot expect, an improvement.
Chastise me and beat me with a wet lettuce if I’m wrong, but isn’t the definition of the word professional “someone who gets paid for doing a job”?
Some of the employees at Wolverhampton Wanderers have the description “Professional Footballer” on their contracts.
The expression ” doing what you are paid to do” comes to mind.
Once these so called footballers have signed said contracts, then they are obliged to perform to the best of their abilities.
If they don’t, they should be dismissed, and not paid.
It’s not rocket science, just good business sense.
The current problem, following the above dubious logic, is the vast majority of the “professional footballers” on the books would be jobless.
If any of the squad are worth their salt, they should be kicking the others up the arse, both physically and verbally.
Edwards is not the most gifted in the world, but he tries.
If the others showed half of his commitment we might see some improvement.
Once again, flogging the dead horse, we all know the problems, as should you, Mr. Lambert.
We know you cannot do anything openly until the end of this month, but if nothing happens in the month of January, you can expect the full fury of the fans.
Get your shit together, Paul, as we all hope you can.
I fear another drop into the third division will be the death knell for our beloved club.
Oh, and Gump is gonna get stuffed 5-1 tomorrow.
FOwb
I’m putting the blame at Cardiff at lambos feet
I know we’ve got the players to put any of these teams to the sword cos I’ve watched it . Good support from a proper loyal away wolves following with backs to the wall footy
CMON ME BABBIES !!
Against the odds passed fit for the Prediction League and i am going to predict a win because
If Lambert plays Saville again then he will lose what remaining respect we have given him to start out with, and the match also. The honeymoon period flew away within days.
I have a simple message the middle of the midfield (ie where every team in your 5 matches has run rampant over us) is to filled with PRICE + SAISS – you build everything else up around them.
That is NO,NAY,NEVER SAVILLE NO MORE.
Heaven only help us – on the basis that they’ve lost their strike force I’ll go for a fantasy Wolves win.
Send some of them back early and send out a message to the rest of them.
And I think Lopetegui deserves some of the blame because I am convinced he was part of the team that chose which players to go after before he was signed by Spain.
Lambert has to pick the top 15 or so players and play them regularly so they get the confidence that regular play will bring.
We’re better than we seem.
Well, we can hardly be worse. 🙂
Faith little ye oh of
Don’t care what the score is, just don’t lose. I was born in Nottingham and have lived and worked in Nottinghamshire for 51 years. Sue’s mum, dad and brother support Forest. So does her ex and all his family. So do teachers and kids at the school where I work. My neighbours, you name it everyone round here supports them. I can’t face the thought of their smug bloody faces. Come on boys – you can do it……………….PLEASE.
P.S
Has anyone else bought tickets for Sheffield Wednesday away ? £75 for two bloody tickets !
Guess you need to take a sickie mate.
So let’s start with small steps
Pack the midfield (but no ‘Jimmy’)
Pass to each other
Smother any red shirt with the ball
Defend like our jobs depend on it(they do)
My Cardiff forecast was right after 85mins so this time I’m hoping the game ends early
I said keep Iorfa in last time and he let us down again (west ham talk must be getting to him) but I prefer Doherty on the right so Iorfa keeps his place (how many last chances I can give him ?) if dropped would play cody instead. Will play Dicko up front with Dave behind, and bring on bod after 60mins hope costa is fit. For f—s sake forest are no great shakes so hope for a reaction from Tues
cardiff were in the relegation zone before they played us. we are shit and we know we are.
in less than 6 months we’ve gone thru three managers and something worryingly resembling another bomb squad on our hands.
lambert is not the answer – in fact i worry we’ll be relegated and desperately looking for a kenny jackett to come and steady the ship.
of course i hope i am wrong – but ive seen nothing to suggest lambert has a scooby.
3-1 to forest.
Well maybe this week it is Dicko’s time to break his duck – he must be one hell of a frustrated striker. Then again all of our strikers must be blooming well so. Come on lad’s time to prove your worth your wages – cannot leave it all to our midfield and defenders to do your job. We must be holding some type of record for a professional football team to be devoid of a goal from one of its strikers for coming up to 4 months. Still going for a win though.
Newark Wolf,
If that numpty Saville plays then we will know Lambert is not fit for purpose, then on Monday you will surely be lambasted by all and Sundry around Sherwood forest. Always thought they were tossers, still think they are tossers and they will always be tossers. But unfortunately at this point in time I don’t think we’re anywhere near good enough to beat a bunch of tossers.
Can’t be there tomorrow due to a Bereavement, so whoever is going, give those slackers of ours a shout for me, but I do think we will get beat 2-0 tomorrow.
The fans Parliament is on Tuesday next week, I am on it for my first time, if we do lose tomorrow I can’t wait for the fallout from the game.
Hi Stu
Do you know, I have been kicked, punched and spat on by Forest fans – in Newark ffs. It all stems from the 1980 League Cup Final. I still get called “wan*y wanderer” even though I am in my 50’s. We just HAVE to win this one. If we get stuffed, can you say at the fans parliament that an old bloke from Notts has had to hide in his house with the curtains shut because of our crap football. Me and Susan are at Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke and Norwich so would be great to catch up with you again.
Yes mate,
I read your last post on the previous thread. I also posted a reply. I too have great reasons to hate those A-holes in Nottingham, one day this dog will have his day with a poisonous little man that crossed my path.
But I’m not bitter.
Stu,
At the fans parliament can you find out what the hell Paul Lambert was going on about when he referred to the state of the club in August?
Presumably we were in a right mess then but not now.
If you are living in Nottingham like Newark Wolf, and myself, this is a game not to lose. I`ll pretend to be optimistic as we usually do OK here, and I`ll add Proudlock`s goal in front of the wolves army in a cup game some years ago, to the list of gems outlined by Bedford Wolf.
The home sides best two players are out with hamstring injuries, they will play pass and move with lots of energy in midfield. So as others have said cram the midfield with bodies, and try to hit them on the break.
It won`t be easy as Mancienne is their quick defender, and he won`t give either of our strikers any time. BUT we can`t afford to lose, and I don`t care how awful the performance is, get a draw or a win preferably. I`ve got in-laws, friends ready to take the p*** if the home side beat us, so get the result the fans and the team need please lads.
Hi Mark
Where in Notts are you ? I remember being there when Proudlock scored. Correct me if I am wrong but it was Dave Jones first game in charge and our away support was so big due to Wolves paying for the coaches ?
I’m not doing predictions anymore, last season’s problems that apparently cost me the Win are continuing as I now appear to have 2 entries in the PL so I just can’t be arsed to bother trying anymore, pretty much like the Wolves.
Having watched the highlights of Cardiff, wtf is Stearman doing running away from their 2nd goalscorer? Does he not understand the role of a defender? He needs to be sent back to Fulham sharpish so he can run away from Dicko in a few weeks time.
Very despondent about prospects of any sort of recovery. Hard to see 3 teams worse than us at the moment.
No idea who PL will select tomorrow cause I have run out of ideas. I suspect he has as well.
As my predictions are worse than useless for the first time ever I am predicting a defeat and it’s sure to go the other way.
Stupid logic yes but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Have a great pre Christmas weekend all you bloggers and if you are travelling to Nottingham tomorrow I wish you a safe and successful journey.
My first Forest v Wolves game was back in 1968 when the game was played at Meafow Lane following a fire at the City ground. Two coaches of Arsenal fans stood with us as their game at Sheffield Wednesday had been called off an hour or two before kick off.
I think we lost 1 0 but I can’t quite remember accurately – Knocker Knowles blazed over from a couple of yards.
BOG
Sorry herewith score – don’t swear please it’s done for a reason
Like Thomas’s team but would have Coady at right back & Edwards over Price. Otherwise that’s our best side period.
We need a point at least from this with a Santa bonus 3 points please. Lambert’s looking shaky already!
A fraught place is Molineux these days. Has always been I guess we just don’t seem to be able to get a strong team together for very long.
A loss & I’d have to be asking myself can I renew again to see third tier football? I can’t believe it’s on the cards given the brightness of Fosun’s arrival. I was then hopeful of Prem football. Fat chance of that!
What’s all this knocking of Saville about? The bloke is pure class. After all,he almost managed to get picked when we loaned him out to Bristol City in League 1 (Division 3).
Let’s hope Lambert isn’t in the McCarthy cut my nose off to spite your face mould otherwise we’ll be seeing a lot more of him!
It will be 1-1 until Saville comes on as sub, so:
Time to smell the coffee, we are in disarray and spiralling towards Div 1 again. Either roll up yer sleeves and get stuck in or sod off so we can replace you with others that will. Supporters its now our time to stand up and be counted, and roar the team on………
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but can only see another flow of goals against. Forest tend to blow hot or cold and if they are at it our sad defence will not cope. This will continue to reinforcements come in hopefully in January
I almost can’t bear the commentary ..I have nightmares with the burrows comment ..’Oh no’..it’s now perpetual ..
If we keep the same at the back we are capable of loosing every match…(and) with a shrug from Iorfa’s shoulders…
January could be the most important month in Wolves history for some time ..in the meantime …oh me of little faith…
We are ( currently )doomed Mr Mannering..
I must say fair play and gold badges to bloggers who are going to the match ..
We can’t defend so may as well attack.
To be fair to PL, I wouldn’t have a clue who to pick either after recent performances.
Defeat on its way, Merry Christmas.
Tony woodcock can fuck off. And trevor francis.
I though we may have turned a corner before Cardiff, but then we must have reversed back around it agin..
I must mad but its gonna be a win.
Don’t ask me why I haven’t a clue.
UTW.Anyway.
Just read PL’s comments on the E&Shit re players adapting.
He is begining to sound more like Jacket every day. Getting his excuses in before we get stuffed.
I am begining to wonder if he was the right appointment after all
Can’t fault your team nominations Thomas …at least Iorfa and Saville have been binned…..What on this planet has happened to Iorfa….he’s terrible lately with everything football…positional sense..nah, marking,,nah, good attitude and effort…nah, head turned …oh yes….Surely his replacement can’t do any worse.
And Saville ….buff said.
Good luck to Newark Wolf and Sue tomorrow to brave the Notts nutters.
Don’t seem to fare too bad at Forest although it’s generally backs to the wall….so don’t be gobsmacked when I predict a narrow win…..Batth and Stearman with a shut out.
Thanks Mike,
I really do hate Forest. We are meeting Bedford Wolf at The Waterfront Bar so that makes 3 of us. I love the Wolves but anyone upsets me or my wife then bring it on. Are you going to Sheff Wed, Stoke or Norwich ?
I’m hoping Stuwolf is getting me tickets for the stoke game ..YES for that one … I’ll arrange to meet you when I know what’s happening..
I hate prediciting defeats, but with the way things are I can’t see anything but that tomorrow. Roll on January and Fosun’s cheque-book.
With the notable exceptions of QPR and Flum, the fare on offer this last few months has been dire. Just dire. All the more remarkable then that we’ve sold out our away allocation once more. Such fortitude from you fantastic fans can only be rewarded with a performance. Will that come against Forest? It may well do.
They are missing Assombalonga and Lansbury. We are sweating on Costa and he’s better than either of them. But, surely we can’t be as bad as recent results and our perilous league position might indicate. Surely not. We are Wolves, for chrissakes. When expectation is high, we usually flop disastrously, but when all seems lost, when the precipice looms before us, we are Wolves and with the terrific 2000 roaring them on, our boys will snap and snarl their way to victory. Well, maybe anyway.
Price and Saiss protecting the back four seems good to me and maybe Silvio in for the beleaguered Iorfa. Edwards behind the striker ’cause we need someone who can score. Bodvarsson to start and Dicko later against tiring legs.
Maybe we could try Saville on the left wing (snigger).
Full of hope for a strong performance from our heroes, but I always am on a Friday night.
Sitting on the fence with this one !
I think we could be in for a real pasting tomorrow. Forest have only lost 1 in 6. Not optimistic.
Expecting a defeat, predicting a draw and hoping for a win, that supporting WWFC for you.
Allow me to show my age…….in the good old days a skilful inside forward (midfielder in today’s jargon) was often referred to as a ‘schemer’. Think Haynes, think Eastham. But Wolves have had many, Broadbent, who should not have had to play second fiddle to Haynes for England so often, being pre-eminent but you could also cite Knocker, Melia, Hegan, Hibbitt, Burnside and a few more. But in the last 20 years, how many? Maybe Macdonald came closest but I always felt Jackett wanted to play him too deep. Tex Ritter looked as if might have qualified but of course no one had taken him for long training runs over Cannock Chase (the Cullis way) to give him the steel needed to express the skill.
O for a schemer, give me a schemer!
Nancy
Dave Burnside…..
Now that was a goal and a half he scored for us at the Albion from the half way line in 19 Oatcake.
Lives in my memory banks next to the unstoppable Waggy.
Well said. Similar to the broken record of my posts all season. We don’t have a creative midfielder. A number 10 in modern parlance or a schemer to the likes of me and thee. Someone with flair and skill who can unlock defences, who can put a slide rule pass through the defence, someone who can create chances, someone who can score goals, take on defenders. I also hoped Teixeira might be the one. We need that player in behind the striker. We need our own (Championship level) Ozil or Silva.
Setting off for Forest in 10 minutes. Come on lads!!!!!!!
I just can’t see a win any time soon I’m afraid. Desperately need a win so I hope I’m wrong. 2-2
I actually got the score right for the Cardiff game. Pity it was the wrong way round.
I went to the Forest ground in 1979 or 1980, because a neighbour raved about them. Well, about Cloughie really. They lost. Against crap opposition.
Maybe I should go again tomorrow…….
come on you Wolves three points nothing less, one nil will do!!!
We lack confidence, guile, invention. Basically we are totally inept.
Can PL pull a result out of the hat?
I don’t think so.
Given what I’ve seen confidence is very low, and we need to build it up. Edwards and Costa are the players that will make the difference. Dicko either needs to start scoring again or he should move over maybe for one of.the youngsters that has no fear of scoring. Hopefully in January we can strengthen the back line and look for the safety of mid table.
Just can’t see where a win is coming from
On the back page of today’s Daily Fail. Sam Allerdyce want’s a job. Just pointing it out in case anyone missed it.
Keeping the faith. Expecting a reaction from everyone now we are firmly in the shit. Hope they are playing for each other’s jobs, we can only win as a team.
See PL says Gladon not up to speed for championship.
Personally I don’t think he would be up to speed for Div 6 of Kidderminster Sunday League.
Who sanctioned his signing. Surely not the wonderful Thelwell
Tipton – I believe that Gladon was a signing by Butti and even Thelwell doesn’t rate him!
You couldn’t make it up could you?!
At anywhere other than Wolves I would agree, but at our club it is just par for the course I’m afraid.
Dear Santa,
For Christmas I would like –
– Some strikers who can find the net
– A defence that knows how to stop the ball finding the back of the net
– A team that tries to play their best until the whistle blows
– 3 points on this match
Thank you.
COYW
Going for the win don’t care it’s xmas COYW
I should really wait for the team announcement before entering my prediction but can’t really be bothered.
Surely a striker needs to score eventually and would like to see a midfield selected that is prepared to play for 90 minutes.
I was going to predict a Forest win because I always get my predictions wrong which would mean a win for us but I can’t do it.
That’s cheating Mosman….take your medicin like the rest of us.!
Hope you all ok down there..my daughter sent some NZ pictures this am …boy it looks hot…and she was in a vineyard!!
You should be getting the same..
I played golf yesterday and the temperature was 35 degrees celsius (95 farenheit) and humid as – don’t know what I was thinking.
All good here and I even got a prediction right without knowing the final team.
Trust you are well.
For some stupid reason I get this feeling we might nick a win today, I have no logical reason for this especially when the only player who gives me hope Costa is unlikely to play.
It’s a crying shame the Fosun takeover was botched by the non-appointment of the Spanish coach. The Zenga experiment and the cast of thousands of new players was destined to fail. We had more extras than Ben Hur according to Lambert. We’ll be back to square one as soon as Lambert can actually start selling, and then buying players in his own image. Roll on the happy New Year for Wolves fans, and it will be a happy one.
In the meantime I’ll be happy for small mercies, like the occasional win. If the lads have any sense they will know they are playing for their futures. A win at Forest is expected.
As one up front ain’t working may as well go 4-4-2. Can only lose one game at a time.
After another midweek mishap it is nice to get back to a Saturday fixture. For that reason alone, and absolutely nothing else to go on, I’m going for a surprise win. Dicko to get that elusive goal?
Now that’s more like a team to win and defend.
No Iorfa
No Hause
No Saville
Bright in
Price in
Ronan on the Bench
Blind optimism reigns.
At the moment a point seems decent. I’ll think we’ll get one from the city ground
Left it late,at poss to decide I’ve seen the, team going for a narrow win
Please
2-1 hopefully! Just made it!
3 points & a clean sheet. In the words of Victor Meldrew I don’t believe it
2-0 , yesssssss
Well, that’s the scene set for Boxing day.
Siass, Bodvarrson, Conor Ronan all on to bolster the team.
Redeemed themselves after Tuesday.
I remember you extolling the virtues of young Master Ronan yonks ago Stu. Well spotted sir.
Everyone at the club love him, he’s a Thommo and Psycho rolled into one.
And now you’re gonna believe us
And now you’re gonna believe us
And now you’re gonna believe us
We’re gonna win the league. 🙂
Fan……….FUCKIN……..tastic a clean sheet as well O.M.G. well done Wolves and Lambert……come on let’s push on and upwards now……..please NO MORE FALSE DAWNS..,
Really happy to get my prediction wrong. Excellent result.
I’m so happy to be proved feckin useless at this predicting stuff. A decent result ground out at the city ground.
Same team next week, the same result could potentially see us 13th in the league by 6pm Boxing day.
LIKEWISE.. I am going to continue predicting a loss if we win. Can’t comment on how we played etc as I have not seen or heard anything, but I don’t care if we pick up 3 points.
Well done PL and the lads. Delighted with the three points and even more so with a clean sheet!
Great result looks like PL learnt more midweek than he let on. Lets hope so. Good to see Ronan get a debut. Beginning to look like Christmas !
Cracking result. Made even more sweet by the brave Cardiff come back against Barnsley & then bang – they lose it in the last minute?
Get in good win clean sheet let’s start climbing the, league
Up the wolves
Just walked in the door from the game. Voice nearly gone. Will post my full thoughts later. However today was surely living proof that PL not only reads this blog but pays attention too as today – as a certain blogger (no names no pack drill but his name rhymes with Deadwood Skorf) has been imploring him to do – we played 4231 and it bloody worked a treat!
P.S. Bright Enobakhare – wow, what a player!
P.P.S. lovely to meet up with Ian and Sue the Newark Wolves – enjoy your gloating Monday Ian!
What? Amanda Cape suggested 4231?
No s/he suggested the Tony Clueless system of 8-2-0.
Me and Sue staggered through the door at midnight. We stayed in Nottingham for a beer, a Chinese and lots more beers. Did take my Wolves badge off my coat though as some of the numpties were giving me the evils. Great to meet up with you too Dave. Sue and I really enjoyed your company. Apologies for walking too fast on the way to the ground, I didn’t realise. Going round to Sue’s mum and dads later (Forest fans) and hopefully her brother will be there (Forest fan) and then back to school tomorrow to have words with the year 2 teacher (Forest season ticket holder) and all the little children with their little red and white back packs with the piece of deadwood on the back. Oh I love my life this weekend.
So pleased with this: 2 goals and a clean sheet to boot. Looks like young Bright has got a first team future here and good to see Connor make his debut.
A great way to go into the Christmas break. And the players can take a much needed breather and come back fresh for the fight.
And to cap a wonderful afternoon,
The shit lost at home!!
Merry fuckin’ bingle jells, poolis, ya prat!!
Yes Clive !!!
And yeS wolves !
CMON ME BABBIES AND FUCK OFF ALBION SHITE
Incredibly important 3 points could be a turning point.. looks like we need midfield defender help then ..marvellous clean sheet..
If Williamson comes in too then we have hope…
It could be still on……’we hate Nottingham Forest’…ha ha…
Yep, a DMF line certainly looked to help out our CBs. Loved our goals too. When we get our strikers doing what they are paid to do too, then we will be on our way. Unless, PL decides not to play this way again !
Well done me babies. Yes the Tesco carrier bags lost but it was to Man Utd who I personally hate more. Why can’t both teams lose?
If you are a Wolves fan, you are not allowed to hate anyone more than the shit – thems the rules.
Full credit Dave Edwards so many tackles won today and work rate pressing in the Forest half of the pitch. That was what set the platform for the flair players to shine. He has been the one shining light when everybody else’s heads have dropped. He leads from the front.
We must dedicate this win to Ian & Sue and Big Mark Davies. Enjoy the next few Months of Brinksmanship. Payback really is a bitch for those A-holes. WTF have they ever won, only the European cup.
Twice
When it meant something.
Just sayin’!!
But we beat ’em at Wembley, in 1980, when they were supposebly at their very bestest!!
I know, coz I was there, like ten million other bloggers, I’m guessing!
Long ball from Peter Daniel, its dropping over the top of Needham, Shilton fucks it up, and Andy Gray rounds them both, beating them with sheer speed, and volleys it into the empty net, in front of the five hundred thousand screaming horde from Wolverhampton.
So the commentary went.
Or something similar!!
Fuck ’em.
Guess what bud ….I was there too….get in and I didn’t get thrown out …!
I was there too. I was 15, in the Forest end and, how sad is this, I can remember what I was wearing, one of those blue parka’s with the fur round the hood. I bet I looked a right twat. But hey, nothing new there !
I wasn’t there – we had only been married 6 months, had just bought our first flat and had no money. I listened on the radio – it wasn’t shown on live TV back then – and consumed a bottle of whisky during the 90 minutes whilst sprawled across our brand new MFI dark brown suedette sofa. Was it really only 36 and a half years ago? lol
I was there….
Travelled by Don Everall coaches with my mates and had a right good day, loved stuffing the bath plugs, smarmy buggers thought we were cannon fodder. Nice one Andy. Met him at Donnington Park earlier that year.
Levis and Doc Martins.
Those were the days my friend. A shame they had to end.
Dave,
I can’t believe it either. It will soon be nearly 40 years ! Where have the years gone. One of the best days of my life and I thought Wolves were going places. Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to think we went out to Cambridge Utd in the first round the next season. But winning the cup meant we went into Europe and again, I seem to remember our only trip abroad was PSV Eiendhoven. Now I would love to know if any of you bloggers went to Holland.
Thank you Stu
What a day and night – Susan has just had some aspirin for her head as we celebrated in Nottingham well in to the night. Strangely, my mobile was very quiet unlike when Forest have won. Carrying on celebrating today and then back to school tomorrow where I am going to teach the kids the “jingle bells – Wolves win away” song. It is days like yesterday that makes me realise why I follow Wolverhampton Wanderers. Thank god I was a fat kid !
Fantastic that you saw a great win, got battered …and came up smiling…..
Stuwolf sorted me some tickets for Stoke …so I’ll see you there…
Have a great Xmas you two..
I’ve read it all before with Walter. Let’s just see if this is the staring point of something good or just a random win where we happened to match well with the opposition.
Hear hear!
Good win though, eh…
Well i said we would win 2-1 so not far off. Brilliant day. Arrived in nottm at 10.25. 8 pints before match. Wouldn’t let us in spoons no away fans (only the stupid fuckin dick eds that ruin it). But plenty more pubs and friendly. Match. We controlled it really. One or two scares but not much else Jack pulling the strings in mid field. Excellent scenes when the lads ran to away end for second goal. I was right in the corner near front. Think i was on telly when i looked this morning. So PL record now 2-2-2. Sort of solid mid table. I think we are on the up. 8 out of bottom 9 lost. Only the mighty WWFC won ! FWAW AND FOWB.
