Carrow Road has provided the scene for many a famous Wolves moment throughout the last 20 years.
From Bully’s audacious lob over Brian Gunn, to Robbie Keane’s sensational league debut, with a sickening play-off defeat thrown in for good measure.

So what does Norwich City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers have in store for us in 2012?
Paul Lambert’s side are already safe for another top flight season, barring the biggest meltdown in Premier League history, but they’d probably like one more win to make their survival certain.
They’ll be banking on getting it this weekend against a Wolves side that have shipped 19 goals in their last 5 matches and deservedly slumped to the bottom of the table.
For us, midweek wins for QPR and Blackburn have only served to heap on the misery in a season that shows no signs of picking up.
Being realistic, TC needs to deliver a minimum 4 points from the next two matches, probably 6 to give us even a fighting chance of staying up.
Norwich and Bolton aren’t unbeatable by any means, even for our struggling group of players, but I’ve seen nothing to suggest they have the desire and belief to go and get the big results.
The Team
If there’s one thing that compounds the misery of our results, it’s the depleted numbers TC has to choose from. Guedioura, Hammill and Elokobi should all be here for selection but they’re not. Coupled with injuries to Henry, Davies and O’Hara as well as Ronald’s suspension, we’ve barely got eleven to choose from. It really is a shambles.
From what we have, this is the team I would send out:

We need to go back to basics i.e. working hard, cutting out the mistakes and using our one and only attacking outlet, funneling the ball to Jarvis in decent areas.
Johnson must start. We need someone with presence to get the team going. There has been no leadership since Henry limped off against Fulham and I think we paid for this big time against Blackburn and Man Utd.
I don’t like Stearman at right-back but hopefully he can make us a bit more solid. First and foremost we need to plug the holes at the back. If we’re going to concede three, four or five every game, we won’t take another point all season.
Milijas and Foley have done a job for us before, most notably in the 1-0 win at Anfield last season. They can both both find feet with passes and we’re desperately overdue a big performance from Nenad right now.
Please TC, stop farting around with Doyle out on the wing. Lets just play him up front with Fletch and hope that one or both of them can make something happen.
Prediction League
30 pundits predicted defeat against United last weekend, but only alf white, d3anb, Hudds Wolf & t’OM said 5-0. They take 3 points and the other 26 take a single.
I have absolutely no idea what result to go for this weekend.
Norwich have won 5, drawn 5 and lost 4 of their home games to date. It would be nice to even that up, but I think it might be a stretch too far.
I’ll go for 2-2.
If you’re making the long trip to East Anglia this weekend, have a great time and get right behind the lads. They certainly need it.
Up The Wolves.

I will go for a 2-1 loss I’m afraid.
Agree – Johnson looked pretty good when he played with Bassong against QPR, absolutely needs to start
FOJM
Obviously if we don’t win it will be because the Wolves away support were not good enought
All hope gone… 3-0 to Norwich
Oh and and I’m going for 2-1 Wolves, Johnson and Fletcher, both headers
FOYFGW
If we lose we’re finished. We’re not finished yet. 1-0 Wolves.
Shall we play 4-4-2 or 4-5-1? I would move Edwards into the middle and play Kightly on the right wing and start with Doyle on the bench. Milijas doesn’t have the workrate to come in and play gung hoo in 4-4-2 from start. I would rather bring on Doyle in the last part of the game if we are chasing an equalizer or a leading goal.
I’d go with that too, when Kightly came on against Man U he ran down everything, never gave up. We need that kind of spirit throughout the team, hopefully the work will cause Norwich to slip from there usual game. From there we might get an opportunity to force our way into it. We’ve lost the desire of late to hunt the ball down as a team, we’ve never really gained the confidence to do much more than this but, without that workrate, we’ve no chance – even against the teams with players who are about the same standard as ours, most of them have better confidence levels and strategy.
2-1 victory to Wolves
A lucky 1-1. But hope for more.
3-0 wolves.
Start Kightly please
Proper ‘balls out’ prediction this. Like it.
My predictions have been rubbish this season so throwing caution to the wind
3-1 wolves. With a display that will leave us scratching our heads as to why we can’t play like tht every week
2-0 to Norwich is my prediction. I can see Pilkington ripping our back four to pieces.
Unfotunately I cannot attend the game this weekend however my son faithfully assures me I can watch it on the internet so fingers crossed.
The next two games are very winnable and I believe six points are necessary in order for Wolves to have a realistic chance of staying in the premier league. April is not a good month although I’m not ruling out a point or a shock win somewhere in the schedule.
The opposition need to be terminated with extreme prejudice via the Jarvis-Fletcher route at every given opportunity.
I know Carrow Road has held mixed fortunes for the club over the years but I will be bold and say 3-2 Wolves, I think a clean sheet is too much to ask these days.
Best wishes to everyone travelling to the game.
You’ll do well to watch it online Edward given the new regulations about foreign streams.
This is the first league match in a very long time that I don’t think I’ll see.
If anyone does find a link to a feed, definitely post it here.
Wiziwig is a good site
http://atdhenet.tv/index.html
Usually always has Wolves and usually a good stream.
I have to agree with Edward. April looks torrid so even 4 points from the next two is not enough.
Norwich have a decent manager in Lambert…their success has been built on his ability to construct a team and utilise tactics. We on the other hand have a threadbare squad, no shape…and an average coach with minimal understanding of tactics as our manager! Sorry to be so negative…but I don’t see any change in our fortunes…2-0 to Norwich
We will lose and Surman will score. Result probably 2-0 but could be much worse as they rip us to shreds with their new-fangled passing football.
I’d fancy our chances more if they got 11 lads off the terraces to play…
Mysterious are the ways of the Canaries. Norwich 1-0 Wolves. Hmmm.
Norwich 1-1 Wolves
A game of two halves. We’ll play in our all black kit, do the haka, and for the first 45 the Canaries will crap themselves. Second half they’ll realise it’s just us after all.
My ‘water’ hasn’t been too reliable this season for predicting Wolves results, but for some reason I can ‘feel’ a 1-2 win tomorrow. Edwards & Fletcher. They’ll score, as it’s an impossibility that we’ll keep a clean sheet!
It seems like Stearman will revert to RB. I’d have liked to see Foley there, but he looks set for DM. TC should set-up 4-4-2 & just go for it. There’s just no creativity at the moment; nor anyone to deliver a dead ball, so Kightly & Jarvis need to do something on the wings.
I’m thinking that you should hit them with two 6mill forwards in Fletcher & Doyle, but if I was being clinical, I’d drop the latter for SEB as he has a good record against Delia’s Birds. I don’t think that’ll happen though.
I think we’d be too flimsy with Milijas as the other CM, so this position goes to Edwards for me so he can run around a bit!
Hennessey
Stearman Johnson Bassong Ward
Kightly Foley Edwards Jarvis
Doyle Fletcher
funny , but I’m actually looking forward to tomorrow !
I need to feel involved , being there does that for me .
The daily midweek depression of no positive news , other
results that go against us , mates who keep pointing out
how incredibly crap we are …..at least the game is an
outlet to shout out .
Norwich are a good football team and are , I reckon
already safe . It’s a must win game for us …lose and it
will all be over . Play Craddock please TC , with Johnson or
preferably Bassong . two strikers and go for it from the off .
Give us a performance to get behind ….then we have a chance
.!! Norwich 0 – Wolves 2 .
I know . Gaga land . UTW
The real point is , if we’re going down , let’s do it
fighting for our lives…have a real go and not be
remembered as a laughing stock ….two wins in the
next two games ? a whole new perspective .
how could you not have kightly on? he was the only decent thing against man utd. as soon as he came on the players wanted a goal. i think we will struugle in this game. norwich have nothing to play for and nothing to lose. so they will want to take advantage of our shakey defence. the will know to just hit us on the counter everytime. if you do want to watch it try firstrowsports. just put it in goole thats what i do.
Were so poor at the moment I can’t see us getting anything. Norwich to gain safety with a performance showing all the guile, tenacity and skill that we’ve been lacking recently, Canaries 4-0 Wolves. Jez to state afterwards “it was the result we needed to galvanise our season and that we are ahead of our targets”. TC to say “it was a strong perfomance against a top team and although the result didn’t go our way if we play like that between now and of the season we’ll be fine”. God its depressing being a Wolves fan right now.
2-0 to Norwich i’m afraid.
Haven’t done this prediction thing for a while now…..
There’s always time for a first and I can feel a 4-1 win for wolves with fletch, kightly, milijas and johnson scoring
Yeah. I’m an optimistic guy.
Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Got to be 4 4 2. Probably go 4 5 1.
Norwich 2 Wolves 0
im loving the humour..but unfortunately its all we have left
MM said wolves are a 4-4-2 team.
We are a 4 4 2 team whether we like it or not.
3-1 to Norwich, can’t defend…maybe someone will score this week.
my head keeps telling me …support someone else but my psyciatrist tells me dont listen!!loverly man -going to be goals and lots of them me thinks but could go either way….lets get right behind the lads tomorrow and make some serious noise..all we can do 4-3 to wolves
you’re tapping my dreams …..well , some of them ….!
yeah a dream…………come on-wake up ,wake up!!!!what was the albion result?? at least we are staying up..arent we….must wake up!!! ah europe at last…………..zzzzzzzz
Norwich 3 Wolves 0
Realistically, we are crap.
Surman will wind up his fellow players.
They have a manager playing with a brain.
We have scored 2 goals only since TC took over, what makes people think we will get another?
We played better last week than the week before, especially when Zubar was on the pitch. The last time Kightly started he was anonymous.
I hope I am wrong!
Not a chance. 3-0 Norwich.
Tactics are easy. Get an early goal, watch us over extend and hit on the counter.
I’d play a different team though to give it best shot … I’d get rid of donkey Stearman and play Foley at right back, along Johnson, Bassong and Ward.
I’d stick Edwards in central mid with Milijas and play Hunt/Kightly and Jarvo on the wing,
Fletch and Doyle up front.
Not to worry guys, TC is still confident he can do this and doesn’t need help. He’ll still be saying that at the end of the season when we’re down rooted to the bottom of the table. How one man can put his own ego ahead of the club’s best interests confounds me. Another clown to join the circus.
Norwich Shitty 0 – 5 The MIGHTY Wolves
Now where are my pills………….
ah we CAN BUT DREAM….Taxi!!!!
A much needed win, 2-1 to Wolves.
We’ll score and most would be happy with that. It’s a long way to go for a thrashing. 2-1, could go either way
Well I don’t think we’ll concede 5 so I see some improvement, but not enough. Norwich 2-1 Wolves.
Last chance saloon. Hard to see where the spark will come from, but we may just hang-in there for another week with some (diminishing) hope. 1-1.
Norwich 2:0 Wolves – another shambles
After going over the bottom five teams run in twice daily for the last month, we really can still get away with it, but it has to be 4 from the next 2 games for us. I can’t see any sence in Foley anywhere but rightback, i’d rather see Stearman in the DM role than foley atleast it would get him out of the danger zone.
But having said that I would go Foley RB, Edwards midfield and Kightly rw in a 442.
Get to watch every game live here in OZ on pay TV but I’m saving the links for the live streams, IF! we go down I’ll be lucky to get a game once every few months. Please Wolves don’t do it to me!!!
wolves are all over the world aye we!! i still think for the best results 11 in goal and quicksand and land mines in defence…snipers in midfield and electric fencing up front….that should ensure a draw?!?!
Stupid, I know, nothing I’ve seen or read suggests that I might be right but……..
Norwich 0 (I know, can you believe how stupid I am, a clean sheet for Wolves) – 1 Wolves
to confirm my stupidity:
Norwich 0-1 Wolves
I know its all over and it has made life a lot less stressful knowing, but……. if we win this and the next game ;0)
Talking team selection a bit like re-arranging the chairs on the Titanic. The midfield would struggle in the championship – 4-1 norwich.
Loss I predict because if TC has been taking advice from McCarthy as he has implied then im not surprised at results and you can tell by players body language they still dont understand the way they are being asked to play TC still sticking to McCarthys tryed and trusted 1 up front nice man they both probably are but they carnt organise a p…up in a breewery never mind a Premier footy team low on morale and confidence.MORGAN, MOXEY TAKE YOUR EARLY BIRD A F..K OFF

This could easily be the match when we finally get it together and storm to victory.
3-1 to Wolves.
Not been right all season but got a feelin we can win tomorrow. If the team feel anything like the fans i feel wounded so come on wolves show your teeth and bite the the heads off the canary’s and just go and do it for yourselves, and the fans…..show some black country fight.
give um sum omma….no score prediction but a win.
But if we lose tomorrow,TC,DO US A FAVOUR RESIGN…..UTW.
FOJM.
With 10 games left I expected ten wins with a score of 2-1. Haven`t got near to a correct score yet, but feel lucky about tomorrow.
The fact that our current form is appalling, we have so many injuries unfortunately all midfielders, and we have a temporary manager out of his depth, I see no reason we can`t get the three points.
Anybody remember what those are, apparently they are available when a team wins a match, I`d forgotton.
Mind you I`m travelling to Wembly on Sunday to support Chesterfield in the Johnston paint final. I mean what are the chances of my black & gold heroes ever getting there, about as high as another point this season. Football does kick you in the balls though, both Wolves and Chesterfield bottom of their respective divisions. The coach trip would be so much more enjoyable if my team got a result against the Canaries, wishful thinking I suspect though.
I saw nothing last weekend that would indicate that we will not be two down again by half time. However something will happen after the break to spur us on and we’ll get one back. We’ll chase and chase to no avail and Norwich will catch us on the break with too many players going forward and finish the game 3 – 1.
Life will be less stressful as we’ll know we are going down because we’re sure to lose next week as it’s a home match!
3 – 1 to Norwich (Optimism all gone only realism left)
2-1 wolves
These next 2 games decide our fate.
I think the last four games determined our fate!
I think moxey and Morgan determined our fate…
Wolves go to war…
Norwich 0 – Wolves 1 (Johnson header 69′)
Can’t even be arsed to think of a comment to rile you lot up.
In a funk of major proportions, football wise.
Fuck ’em all, none of them deserve us.
Norwich to break the record for goals scored in a Prem match…..before half time.
FO all of them.
So your going for the draw then Clive!
Norwich just too lively. Canaries 2-1 Wolves. Fletch for us.
My son, like many of yours I’m sure, went to school for sports relief in full wolves kit. He came home with a tooth missing from defending Wolves’ honour (and his black n gold Grandad’s)…
Just effing fight lads. For the love of the gold n black play some football and forget your premier salaries..
Hopes pinned on Fletch. Can’t stop loving his attitude..
ms wolves…so proud of your lad-wolves fan no 1 me thinks! nothing more i can add to your blog as you put it so well!! wish the players could read this stuff…would make an excellent rally cry….always wolves!!!
Get your son as mascot for the next home game, and get him to chew the ears off our team in the tunnel like the Sport Relief sketch with Frank Lampard last night. I reckon he could do a better job of inspiring the team than TC at the moment.
I just can’t see us scoring or keeping a clean sheet at the moment.
Norwich 2-0 Wolves
Norwich 2-0 wolves
Norwich have nothing to play for. Wolves keep a clean sheet and Kightly comes off a bench delpleted by injuries and loans to crash home the winner. Norwich 0 Wolves 1.
There is a sports psychologist that’s on our payroll, what has this guy been doing all season, from the fourth game of the season on our confidence levels have dropped like a stone? Whatever he’s been doing, I reckon he needs a change of tactics……
Why not try a hypnotism instead……
When I snap my fingers, you will be footballers, you will be able to pass the ball to a member of your team, you will then find space and look to receive the ball in a more advanced position. You will look to work the ball forward in adventurous ways attempting to surprise the opposition using a varied approach sometimes using speed down the wings and a crossed ball or a pull back for an onrushing midfielder to hit, but other times short sharp incisive passing in triangles will see you through on goal. When faced with an opportunity to score, you will have a go, but more than that, you will do so with confidence, you will know that you’re about to score.
You will defend your goal by putting pressure on the opponents who have the ball, tackling them when the opportunity arises, you will defend as a team not allowing your man any space unless you are sure another member of the team has taken over the responsibility of marking that man to allow you to press the ball. You will play with confidence a bit like the team that played in and won the Championship a few years ago, they were called Wolves, when I snap my fingers you will be that Wolves. You will have forgotten about all the crap negative tactics that have been drummed into you for the last 3 years, you will play like a team who has earned the right to play at this level.
See I could have taken this much further and told them that they would each wake up as the best player in the Premier League in their position and that they had been playing as a successfully integrated team for the last three seasons. But I still believe that if all our players were playing to their potential, and indeed the team as a unit was, we could be safe. We should not be struggling against the likes of Norwich, given the same coaching and management but their lies the problem.
You got the job, Hudds x
Oh and my lad couldn’t chew any ears of at the mo- although a great idea-it was a front tooth…anyway must dash gotta get to Norwich to watch some kinda game..
With my optimistic Wolves hat on……
A forward pass from Foley.
Milijas’s pinged left footed pass, deftly, finds Ward in acres of space….
He races down the byline and sends over a cross that is met by Johnson, who has sprinted to get into a forward position…..
A bullet header into the left hand corner of the net.
It lifts the lads.
They play like Barcelona, scoring three more.
A screamer from Milijas, header from Fletcher and a cheeky dink over the goalie by Edwards.
Norwich 0 Wolves 4
Shame neither Foley nor Milijas will start then 🙂
Maybe Stears and Jonsson can copy it?
What I don’t understand is what this Jonsson guy is doing in the team?
Agree – even with McCarthy gone the ridiculous team selections continue – Foley was excellent last week (Zubar was the problem…ahem!)
Here we go again.. Giving up another super sunny Saturday afternoon to watch my favourite team.
The missus wants to know why I bother to watch now ??
She doesn’t understand.. Hope the weather
holds so we can go out for the day together tomorrow.
Prediction ???
I can’t be arsed.. Say what you like we are going down. Wonder if we will be 2 down by halftime again. Thanks Morgan, thanks Moxey, and Thanks Mick and TC..
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!!
Come on you lot let’s have a bit of common sense. If we win, and that is a massive IF, it’ll probably be 1-0. More likely is a draw 0-0 or 1-1, but most likely we will lose with the question being ” by how many..? ” and then as ever we’ll glance at the other matches which affect us and we’ll see that yes we are all sh**e at the bottom, there’s still only 1 or 2 points in it, which means we’re still in with a shout and the road show moves on to the next match. This is as I’ve always believed going to the wire yet again and we have as much chance as the others of staying or dropping. When I was younger we learned a little rule which we called P6, and it goes…prior planning and preparation prevents poor performance. You can even call it P7 if you wish by putting a p**s between prevents and poor. I’m afraid this is as true today as it always was.
Keep the faith lads…UTW. I’ve decided not to put FOWB any more because they actually epitomise what P7 actually stands for, as much as it pains me to admit it, but credit where it’s due.
I can’t see us get a win anywhere at the moment. We are an absolute shambles.
Norwich 2 Wolves 0
Twelve minutes gone and we haven’t conceded. Doesn’t get a lot better if you’re a Wolves fan. C’mon you Wolves.
Well at least we have played reasonably well.
Shame we didn’t have Bassong all season.
Still think we can get a result.
I agree that Bassong is a different class – makes you wonder what McCarthy and Moxey were playing at last summer.
I do think the time for blind optimism has passed; even if we beat Bolton it isn’t going to be enough.
We are going down, we are going down, We are going down, we are going down. The wolves are going down like a fucking lead ballon. Rubbish
Well that’s that then. I had a little false hope for all of the minute we were in the lead then it went t*ts up again. Mathematically we can still stay up but in my head and even in my heart, I know it’s all over. Wins for Wigan and Bolton and we are adrift now. We’re back in the championship and I don’t want to be there – I’d rather struggle in the premier any day. It’s been a shambles for the last 12 months, especially the last few weeks. I honestly don’t think those running the club have helped our cause at all. In fact I feel they have been a major contributory factor to our relegation.
Well, that was poor, even by the recent low standards. Apart from the goal, we never really looked like scoring, even when they went down to 10 men. We just aimlessly hoof it into their box and – lo and behold – they just clear it comfortably.
QPR aside, all the other results have gone against us today. Football’s a funny old game, but it’s really difficult to see how we get out of this.
Can’t see TC here next season; his position is just about untenable. After the recent shambles of a search for a manager I just wonder who we can get now. Will anyone worth their salt want to manage us? How I would love to see Curbs with Wilkins as his number 2 or as director of football. I kind of get the feeling that director of football is what Moxey has been trying to carry off – and failed miserably. Instead I think we’ll get a no hoper – not sure who else is out there – can’t see us paying enough to get someone like Rafa in and perhaps that is the bottom line. Will we pay to get some quality or will we continue to try to do it all on the cheap? We’ll soon know. What a fc*k*ng lash up. So upset! A few wins in the championship won’t make up for the disappointment of this season. Gutted.
Oh shit. Lost in the prediction league Yoda has.
We did play with more passion but the management is clueless.
Morgan could save some money by not bothering to put any seats in the top tier of the new stand!!
We aren’t going to need em..
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!!
How could anyone ring up Ray Wilkins and say no thanks we have still got Terry Connor ?
Don’t think ray would come now and work for those pair of baffoons.FOJM,TC Resign NOW.
BIG SAM’s On his way.
Dont think ray would come now,who wants to work for a pair of baffoons.FOJM..TC Resign.
BIB SAM’S ON HIS WAY END OF SEASON.
Played rather OK. Jarvis and Kightly were good, rest were decent. To be honest the first goal was just really well done by Holt, and the penalty was Jonsson not thinking to far ahead. I still feel we played better than Norwich, even if we didn’t have many huge chances.
Looking forward now. The management and team are lost; the situation being compounded by current injuries.
Ned not starting over Jonsson = shocking. Roll on the end of May, roll on the Championship and new management.
Also, if players want to go, let them go. Most aren’t good enough at this level. Bassong aside, Steven Fletcher is the only exception for me – and I’d hate to see him leave.
just got back from the game ..lost my voice again..cant fault the fans or the effort of the players-we just arent good enough to stay up me thinks. lack of quality in midfield together with a complete lack of goals and some silly mistakes at the back cost us again…it has to be said though the lads really did give everything..night night x
Ever the optimist,i thought we could of won this.but i wrong again.
Time and time again the defence let us down again also the so called manager chose the wrong midfield fancy playing jonsson what was he thinking, well it serves them right,sm.jm.
for choosing a secondrate coach.but we’er the one’s who’s really hurting,we look a beaten
side can’t see us now getting any more points.
The sooner they f##k them off the better and get someone in NOW ready for the championshit…FOJM.AND BIG FOTC.
Can’t say I am surprised. We never looked like getting anything out of this match. Beaten by a promoted side ages ahead of us in all departments. TC – like Mick – doesn’t know his best team and the way he wants to play. We are so poor that I struggle to find words. We were second best for 94 minutes against a team that played in League 1 when we were a PL side. What a joke.
We are shocking and I can’t wait for the next season with a new manager and a new team. I sincerely hope that Moxey will be axed as well.
If there is to be real and meaningful change Moxey simply has to go.
