19 points from 12 games represents the best start we’ve ever made to a Premier League season.
When you consider we lost the first three matches without scoring a goal, that’s some turnaround.

We now go back-to-back against two of the bottom three with a golden opportunity to cement an already strong position heading into a tough December.
The home form gives me confidence we’ll perform against Burnley on Wednesday, but we haven’t sparkled on our travels despite some decent results.
New manager bounce and a couple of good results have got the engine turning over for Norwich so this could be a difficult assignment.
Norwich
If you asked 100 football fans (outside of Norwich) if they thought the Canaries would be relegated, I’d wager 99 would say yes.
That’s what Dean Smith has inherited – a deeply ingrained belief that they’re heading straight back to the Championship.

The stats are equally damning. Not just the meagre points tally, but the seven goals scored (easily the lowest in the league) and the whopping 27 conceded (the highest in the league).
If there’s a whiff of hope, it’s the back-to-back wins against Brentford and Southampton, showing they can compete and get their fair share against teams in the bottom half.
Despite our lofty position, they’ll be looking at this game and next Tuesday’s six-pointer at Newcastle as a big opportunity to put themselves back in the survival picture.
Whatever the results, there’s no question they’ll have to enter the market in January and recruit well if they’re to have any chance because I don’t think the current squad can do it.

The home end
Some thoughts lifted from the pre-match through on a popular Norwich forum.
Everyone confident of a third straight win? Decent side are Wolves but a repeat of that second half on Saturday should keep the run going.
A point would be a good result. I am feeling more confident after Saturday , not just because we won as we could easily have lost … Yet our manager was able to change the way we played when needed and I think he will be shrewd enough to put a side out that will give Wolves a good game.
Avoiding defeat is the main object because that would set things right back. Three points would be nice but I wouldn’t be too upset with one. The main thing is a decent performance and looking like we belong in this league.
Wolves’ current league position is partially down to a fortunate start to the season fixture-wise – they will be in and around us by the end of the season. They have only played Man U and a misfiring Spurs of the ‘big 6’ and lost both. The only surprise result for me is that West Ham didn’t beat them. They don’t score or concede many. It’ll be like Brighton and we can match up and go toe-to-toe. I fancy another 2-1.
I think they’ll comfortably finish mid-table, possibly top ten. Would love a win, but would take a draw if offered it now.
Just shows how important wins are, Wolves have lost only 1 less than Newcastle yet in the top 6 courtesy of 6 wins. Our first 10 games yielded so few points and already put us so far behind most in this division that getting good results from just those around us or lower mid table will not be enough for survivability. Hence we have to somehow pick up points, wins to be honest, against teams like Wolves. They are a decent side, in good form and beating them would be even more impressive than the win against Saints.
Wolves
I can’t see any changes from the team that saw off West Ham, unless there are injuries or Bruno has picked up on some detail about the way Norwich play.

I would never have selected Podence last weekend and it took him a good while to grow into the game, but once he did he caused them a lot of problems.
There’s no doubt he’s at his best when the team are up the pitch and he can use that low centre of gravity to turn in tight spaces and manufacture shots and final passes. He’s the opposite of Traore in that his overall play isn’t spectacular but he does produce the goods.
Other than that one outside forward position, the team feels pretty settled and everyone knows their job. I think that’s the way to get results in the Premier League.
Last time out
We doubled Norwich the last time they were in the Premier League. They battered us in the first half at Carrow Road but somehow only went in one goal ahead. Once Romain Saiss equalised they wilted and Raul smashed in the winner after good play by Neto down the left.

At Molineux, it was a routine home victory for Wolves with Diogo Jota scoring twice and Raul getting the third after Jota’s hat-trick attempt came back off the post
Predictions
Well done to St.Kitts Wolves and KENDAL WOLVES for correctly guessing the 1-0 scoreline against West Ham last weekend. Both collect a maximum.
Brompton Wolf leads the way at the top of the overall table at the end of Gameweek 12.
As always, if you’d like to join in, it’s simple – just leave your prediction in the comment section below using the boxes provided. Then repeat for every preview article throughout the season, making sure you always use the same email address to make your prediction. Your email is what ties you to your overall score.

Up The Wolves!
Polite request – when commenting in the preview article after the game has finished, can you not place score predictions in the boxes, please? It confuses the system. Many thanks.

A draw wouldn’t be too bad for either side, but perhaps I should be more confident given that we’ve swatted away most of the bottom half sides we’ve played (5 of our 6 wins have come from these fixtures).
The slick performance against West Ham hasn’t entirely erased my memory of what I saw at Selhurst Park. We looked a soft away team in that game and were eased out of it. Norwich aren’t at the same level as Palace but I think they’ll employ similar tactics to stop us from playing out.
What was encouraging against West Ham was seeing the team persevere with their passing game despite an uncomfortable first 15 where they struggled to get out. They didn’t just toss in the towel and start going long and were eventually rewarded by taking complete control of the game. Hopefully, that can give us the confidence to be more consistent and get our midfielders dictating the game to bring the front three into it more often.
Four points from the next two should be the minimum objective, so I’ll go for a point here and hopefully a long overdue win over Burnley a few days later.
I just find it comical that 2 results against 2 below par teams can change the confidence of fans.
They barely hung on against Southampton – and Dean Smith is a useless manager. The fact they state we will be around them at the end of the season is a Joke, Norwich will be relegated ain’t no body saving them. They have an awful squad, bar 2 players – If we do not run rings around them I will be very very surprised. They like to mention we lost to Tottenham and United, not mentioning we should of won those games as it was bedding in a new style. Delirious fans if they think they deserve even a point this weekend.
I guess you never know with football but generating a wild opinion like a few of those have is laughable. They should of written this game off – they shouldn’t “expect” anything from this. We are in 6th, they are in the bottom 3 – cannot even compare. They don’t like to mention we gave West ham and lesson after they had took 3 points from Liverpool.
It is a funny ol game this
Great win last week but the performance against Palace was very poor and if it recurs we will probably lose. Would like to see Traore get more game time.
On balance of probabilities we should win ….just
yeah, should have played Adama from the start.
I agree he is deluded if he thinks we will be close to them at the end of the season just repeat the West Ham game all over bar the shouting 2-1 the Wolves I really think it could be 3 or 4.
‘they will be in and around us by the end of the season’
I’m almost insulted by that comment but i suppose everyone can dream.
I think Daniel Farke’s self-delusion must have been contagious reading some of the comments on that Norwich thread.
We’ve already done Smith’s better team once this season and we’re are about to do his second but this time without the wonderful high drama.
I hope Norwich stay up, as a neutral that would fun to watch but tomorrow we’ll smash em 3-0. Hopefully next week they’ll recover to beat blood soaked Newcastle and send them one step further into the Championship quagmire for the ironies of ironies as the richest club in Europe.
UTW
I know its ego – and you have to back your own club. But it is insulting. To think a team that finished 7th twice, had one off season to injuries, who are now 6th will be in and around a team that are 95% likely to get relegated. Why do people look at our team like this? They wouldn’t say it about Arsenal, Tottenham etc… We ain’t classed as a BIG 6 team but we are fighting our way in currently. It is disrespectful for them to even think it.
It’s laughable.
We are poles apart whichever way you look at it.
We are a totally different prospect to those first 3 games as Norwich are under Smith now Farke has gone. Not gonna be enough to beat us tomorrow but they’ll make a fist of their relegation battle and that’s their best case scenario really.
I have no truck with Norwich, i hope they do well, any club outside the ‘big’ six and not in London gets my support from a neutral perspective.
Hence our under the radar up to sixth, no one’s even noticed us creep up the table. Everyone’s gone to bed by the time we get on MOTD.
I’m glad it wasn’t just me thinking that about the Norwich fans confidence. They must be on drugs if they think they are most likely to win. I’m not saying they won’t but to be that confident is deluded.
One even says “it goes to show how important wins are”. You new to sport are you? Up to this point you didn’t realise wins were useful? That does explain Norwich’s form every time they get to the top league I suppose.
.
We looked really good against West Ham. What pleased me most, given our difficulty in scoring in previous months, was the quality of the shots on target. Fabianski kept them in it. On another day, against a keeper not in the zone, we could have given the Hammers, a very decent team, a real spanking.
I’m banking on us having found our feet under Lage and Norwich, the unfortunate side to have to play us just at the wrong time.
Not gonna say anything derogatory about Norwich, these things have a habit of coming back and biting you on the bum, but stuff me, the arrogance of that tosser!!
There’s a reason teams like Norwich, Fulham etc play yo yo between the divisions……. They are shit!
Crap squads, coz no one wants to play for them.
Our next two games are against Prem cannon fodder, and we have to win both.
A. To give us the points.
B. To silence the doubters.
No one ever says the top teams struggle against dross like them, yet always dig up the fact that we’ve only beaten one of the top six.
Well, duh, we’ve only played one of the current top six so far, West Ham, so until we play and beat the others, starting next weekend, they should shut the f… up.
And, they need to look at the table, if those sheep “herders” can read, and take in the fact that WE are a top six side.
We are beginning to look like a very efficient team, and barring too many injuries, a very settled team.
For the detractors who think/thought Sa was a retro step from Rui, think again.
For this old fart in sunny Texas ( I hear its cold over there, ha ha) Sa has given our defense a lot more confidence than Rui ever did, and it shows.
Our goals against column is stingy, and our for column will inprove with a tiny bit more clinical finishing and luck.
Wednesday we owe that prick of a manager Shorn Dick a thrashing, and Kloppe’s luck against us next week will finally run out, as we stuff them 4-0 and Diogo begs Raul for his shirt, and crawls on his knees to Bruno, begging to come back.
I waffle early in the mornings, don’t I??
And by the way, how come Chalkie the Cheat is up to his usual tricks, and is top of the prediction league?
How much is he bunging you, Thomas??!!
Sheep “herders”! Welcome to the new politically correct Clive.
You are correct.
We cannot say sheepshaggers when referring to Norwich fans.
That description is for the Cardiff morons.
Don’t get me started on the p.c. bollocks.
I am currently serving a one month ban on Facebook, coz I said summat they consider “against their standards”.
Seven days to go, and then I can let rip again!
Only 4-0? What happened to 5-1?
No surprise you’re banned on Facebook, and the likes of ‘sheepshaggers’ and ‘prick of a manager Shorn Dyke’ should be enough to get you off here.
Don’t know what’s happened to you lately but I think we’ll batter those fucking inbreds
U T W
A 2-1 battering,?
embarrassing…………
I’ll be watching from San Antonio, Clive. Can’t get across to Houston like I’d planned. Maybe next year. I did recommend Nick’s Place to four Wolves STHs that I met on the plane. Don’t know if they turned last week. A 9:00am KO might have put them off. Perhaps they’ll show tomorrow. I told them to look out for a fat bloke in NHS specs.
COYW Don’t F It UP
Dan
I hope nobody laughs when they read this but I think some might – when I was watching Man City passing their way through and around PSG and Everton I was reminded of Wolves against West Ham. The same quick movement on and off the ball. OK we don’t produce that all of the time but Wolves are, under Lage, growing into a proper football team. Lage said after the game every player did what was asked of them which suggests this is not always the case. Is this why Traore finds himself starting games on the bench?
Judging by the comments on the Norwich thread Dean Smith has certainly increased confidence among the Norwich faithful. Can he do the same with his players?Probably not. Cut off the supply to Pukki and it will be comfortable for Wolves.
You know what pennroad i embarrassingly thought exactly the same so your not mad unless we both are !
Man cities passing and movement was sublime with its pace and accuracy and i thought “bloody hell wolves looked like that against the ammers ”
Any way back to earth and even smithy cant make make a silk purse out of a sows ear so the stupid comments of that knob on their blog will be short lived for sure.
The speed accuracy and determination we showed against west ham must become the norm for the wolves from now on.
A stick to your guns attitude no matter if things go slightly off course is a mentality that seems to be being instilled into the players after that display and will only become better as the games come and go.
Well done to Bruno who it seems has no favourites and stands no nonsense.
I am very confident even over confident you could say about this game as this is the new wolves and knawwich simply don’t have a prayer
Its taken a while but I think we have finally cracked it.
Would love to just do the simple things, play to our strengths, defend properly with no lapses of concentration, attack with speed, finish clinically…
But we can’t do that for 90 minutes, nor can many.
A nice professional performance should do it
Still not convinced that this wolves side really has top 6 or even top 10 quality but Bruno is doing the right things. Jiminez is showing exactly how much we missed him last year.
The game against palace shows we still have a soft underbelly especially away. Id be ok with four points from the next two, Dyche always seems to get lucky against wolves so I’m going for a win here.
We’re starting to show some fluid movement, especially in midfield and wingback positions which all bodes well if we can continue in the same vein.
Despite the deluded comments by some Norwich fans we HAVE to be brushing sides like this aside.
With that in mind and my current prediction form needing some serious rehabilitation I’m going for a comfortable win.
Just don’t spend the last 20 minutes defending on the 6 yard line please lads.
No complacency from me, Norwich have some confidence on the back of 2 wins, the weather forecast for tomorrow is awful and we will have to dig deep. Our quality should show through but the Palace no show leaves a doubt in my mind. Same side and subs. Wolves yo edge it one nil. On another note, the Code Red documentary is brilliant as was Cody on MOTD2, how lucky we are to have two such magnificent men and players at Wolves. Proper role models in a world seemingly losing its moral compass regarding decency to fellow man and doing the right thing.
We can do this I’m sure
I guess the 40mph wind may help their cause and blow us off course. That’s their only hope. Personally I expect us to ruffle the canaries feathers whatever the conditions. I also have a feeling Rubens next expertly chopped pass will end up top bins and everyone will say it was genius.
Consistency. That’s what’s required to become a top 4 side. Every team in this division can turn on the style but some do it one game in ten and others nine. We are becoming better but have the odd failures such as Brentford and Palace and it was just like us though to produce a performance against West Ham. Thankfully, I predicted that one but believe that this fixture is going to be a difficult one to secure all three points from particularly with the Canaries benefitting from new manager bounce. A draw beckons therefore.
Got to be fairly positive of taking all 3 points with this one.
Be nice to keep a clean sheet but Pukki can be a handful at times.
I think we need to take the next 6 points as December (on paper) is going to be a tough run. That said, Wolves rarely conform to what it looks like on paper so who knows? Not me.
Let’s dream 6 pts from next two
Fingers crossed Basher.
The weather forecast is shocking, so let’s hope it doesn’t work to the Canaries’ advantage. This’ll be a tough game.
COMBs!
After last week I think I will have to have slightly more faith in Bruno and the team. They really should win this and I fully expect them to do so, BUT this is the Wolves and Norwich might still have the new boss bounce in them.
Probably be a tight game but I expect us to win.
My son is taking his Baltic sea girlfriend to the home game against Burnley …. I trust he will be witness to the 2nd part of the 6 points haul collected from these next 2 games…we are on a roll
Gonna be a bit Baltic at Carrow Road too, so I’m told.
WW 2-1 NC
Can still hear my old Norwich housemate singing
‘ on the ball city…never mind the danger…’ in the middle of the night after he’d bonked yet another blonde
So bring it on lads and shut him up please
Bruno seems to have a favoured way of playing.
High pressing, dominating possession and using the creative skills of Neves and Moutinho to feed the forwards and wing backs.
Basically – Attack!
And recently, the team have proved that they can translate his tactics and thoughts into action on the field… Everton, West Ham.
The one thing that is missing is doing it consistently… Crystal Palace.
Saturday provides the perfect platform for us to continue the overall upward trajectory that we are following.
Norwich are a side that, in spite of an improvement in results, are there to be beaten.
That and three points against Burnley next week will lead us into a difficult December in a good place.
Let’s do it and make it a “Merry Xmas everybody”.
Brilliant piccy both….
Norwich v Wolves
It was 1972, when I eventually (and reluctantly) got off my arse and found a job after spending fulfilling years learning about bar billiards, table soccer and scoffing gravy and chips with everything at Wolverhampton Polytechnic. I joined Monmore Tubes in the Monmore Green area in the sales department. I loved it…all football mad workmates.
One of my erstwhile colleagues in those days of yore was a cracking geezer named Jim O’Donnell. I suppose he was about 10/15 years older than me, so he would have been in his early to mid-thirties. Now Jim had a peculiar mannerism. Like 75% of the adult population in the early 70’s he smoked fags. By the dozen. Or the hundred. Nowt peculiar about that except he used to hold the fag in between his teeth and could hold a perfect conversation without removing the fag whilst the nicotine enriched blue smoke would curl up into his nose and eyes as he chatted away biting on the filter tip as he did so. Think Yul Brynner as Chris in “The Magnificent Seven” smoking his cheroot or George Peppard as Hannibal in the A team with his cigar and you get the picture. The filter tip had deep teeth marks embedded when he eventually discarded the “scut” end and lit up another Number 6/Embassy. It all used to fascinate me for some obscure reason.
Now Jim was a big Wolves fan but in 1973 he moved to Long Sutton in South Lincolnshire to the west of Kings Lynn and about 55 miles from Norwich. This wasn’t just moving house to the country; this was moving to another continent. With principal train lines and the early 70’s motorway system running North to South, it was easier getting to Narvik than Norwich and the Wash. Apart from writing letters, the only other communication were state owned landline telephones and he duly gave us his number. “See you at Carrow Road” was his parting shot at his leaving do in the New Inns on the Bilson Road. “No fecking chance” I muttered to another work mate Phil (we used to do football together) “it’s virtually on the Hook of Holland”.
Well, blow me down – fast forward to January 1974 Wolves were due to visit Carrow Road twice in 4 days. The first visit was for a league match and the second the semi final first leg in the League Cup. Jim phoned Monmore Tubes (Wolverhampton 27091 as it was back then). “I take it you are coming over for the games?” he questioned in a rhetorical manner as if Norwich was just the other side of Stafford. Phil and I held a summit far more important than COP 26. “Shall we do both games?” he asked. What a silly question as I had no intention of doing ONE. “Ok” I stupidly said “let’s go” … We telephoned Jim “Yes we are coming for both games”.
Saturday 19th January dawned….
Getting to Norwich in January 1974 involved the still to be completed M6/M1 to Bedford and then a tortuous cross-country epic trek via Bedford, St Neots, Cambridge, Mildenhall, Thetford bouncing along on what seemed like little more than dirt tracks at times across the boring as hell flat lands of East Anglia. No A14 in those days and no trunk roads at all from East to West. Eventually (200 miles later) the 4 coaches (each with a support driver) and 200 supporters that departed Falkland Street at 7 am arrived in Norwich. It felt like a foreign city. “We must be insane” I remarked to Phil.
As the coach neared the low-set floodlight pylons of Carrow Road I spotted him – Jim! He was dressed top to bottom in blue denim with gold/yellow and black silk scarves trailing from his wrists and belt loops on his jeans. From a distance he looked like a walking advert for a Levi Strauss sponsored Morris Dancer. Alighting from the coach we shook hands. It was smashing to see him again and he greeted us with a fag-end crunching wide grin.
The three of us entered the stadium and stood on the open terrace opposite the Barclay End on a surprisingly sunny afternoon. I have no idea where the few Wolves fans who made the journey were situated.
The Doog netted for Wolves as the match ended 1/1 as we played in an all-white strip if my hazy memory serves me correctly. When the Wolves goal hit the net I have this vision of Jim, arms akimbo, silk scarves going round like a windmill sail, a Players Number 6 filter tipped clasped in the vice like grip between his upper and lower incisors, head tilted skyward and enjoying the moment. (I was quite worried that if he did utter a yell, he would have swallowed the whole cigarette but as a master smoker there was no chance of that). Quite what the home fans made of it all is open to conjecture.
After a quite emotional “goodbye” we boarded the coach for the ultra-long mind-numbing journey home. Fortunately sleep took over for a while.
400 miles but well worth it to meet up with an old works colleague.
4 days later on Wednesday 23rd January we did it all over again. Another 1/1 draw (John Richards) in the League Cup semi-final first leg under the Carrow Road lights. This time around 25 coaches departed Falkland Street and we didn’t meet up with Jim but it was well into the early hours of Thursday morning by the time I opened the front door.
In fact, and very sadly, I have not seen him from that day to this. I don’t really know why.
Norwich – now one of my favourite cities as I must have made well over a dozen trips since 1974 including a few weekend breaks incorporating a Wolves fixture.
If you read this Jim (you must be over 80 now), I hope you are well and thanks for the memories.

Brilliant BOG
Thanks for sharing!
Bog you should write a novel, it would defo be a number one best seller.
Something went wrong !!
As ever Mike (BOG) awesome.
Have to agree with BJ Wilson… You should write a book. On tour by BOG! snappy title too, hey 🙂
Looks like Delia Smith woke up and smelt the coffee when she told the last manager to Farke off. But, is it too late? Wins over Brentford and Southampton may just be a dead-cat bounce on the way back to the championship. Or they may not be. I fancy Dean Smith’s chances to improve things, but not a lot. Stranger things have happened. Leicester were virtually down and recovered to win the title the next season.
Molineux is becoming a fortress again. We put three consecutive PL wins together for the first time. I’m a huge fan of Bruno but I hope we’ve not overachieved a bit at sixth place. I want to be there on merit. I was at Stamford Bridge to see Chelsea demolish Juventus on Tuesday. It was total football, I don’t think I saw a back pass from Chelsea and the scoreline flattered Juve. That said, Bruno-ball is closer to the Chelsea model than Nuno’s counterpunching could ever be. Currently there’s a gulf between the top three and the next four teams. Right now I’ll take a seventh place finish at the end of the season and be ecstatic and not surprised if we make sixth. The next two windows will define Wolves under Bruno. Exciting times.
Tomorrow I think we will squeeze a win at 1-0.
This match is a banana skin, lets attack from the start, got better players, then playing phil mitchels mob wednesday, expecting 4 points, love to all my bloggers, wolves aie we.
I am the eternal optimist! We are only 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, and still have to play them twice!! Well, dreaming is for free, not so?
We showed more than glimpses of Liquid football against Everton, and at times against West Ham. Don’t think Norwich will give us the space to be fluent, but barring some horrendous bad luck, we should win, and eventually win comfortably! But then, we are Wolves and will probably be squeeky bum time all through the second half.
Same team as last week, slightly better result! Tarore to come on in the second half — he must be chomping at the bit– and finally get a goal. He HAS to score sooner or later given the chances he has had!
As with squirrels and nuts – and we have plenty of the former around these parts – it is all about accumulating as much as we can ahead of winter. For winter read Wolves’ December fixtures.
No disrespect to Norwich, but I would like to think that Wolves have enough to see off Norwich. I might try to catch the match live on hesgoal, but then again I might go off to see the Christmas lights. Out of darkness and all that.
Disappointing news regarding Boly. Another injury delaying his return. With our other casualties it leaves us with 16 outfield players and 2 keepers. As Bruno said, we play with 3 centre backs, and only have 3 to choose from. He’s asked for understanding from supporters, but such was the quality of the win on Saturday, expectations are bound to have been raised.
Preferring to look at the repeatedly mentioned Palace performance as a blip, we’ve been producing points at a rate only bettered by Chelsea. With that in mind, even taking into account the new manager bounce that Norwich may be enjoying, I have to believe we will turn up with the same attitude and application we showed in that excellent win over West Ham, and win. Again.
Podence had a good game after a quiet start, Neves and Moutinho were superb, Kilman brilliant, and Sa’s distribution excellent. In fact it’s difficult to pick a sub standard game from last weekend from anyone in a Wolves shirt.
So, more of the same please and another win before heading into a tough December.
UTW
we’ll win this easily
and every time we redict 1-1 we do so
Easy game
I’ve been a pessimist this season and been mostly proven wrong. Let’s hope I’m not proven wrong this time (although I’d love to see us thump them 0-5!).
Despite them winning the last two and also having the “new manager bounce” I think that our class will tell. If we perform like we did against West Ham we will win comfortably. If we perform like we did against Palace ……………
Are we good enough to stay in the top six though? Beating the likes of Norwich and Burnley is the indicator “Yes we are”, then giving the clearly superior top three something to worry about confirms it. Drawing or losing tells us that we’re not ready or deserving of the status.
Norwich will start with the wind in their sails (literally judging by the weather forecast) and Smithy will wind them up as you might expect, we must keep calm and keep a clean sheet , if we score ,we win.
Not sure what part the weather will play tomorrow with strong winds and the possibility of snow. Am driving to Norwich in the morning which should be an interesting trip. Hoping that the result will make the return trip more enjoyable.
I think those chaps in Norfolk are overly fond of Combine Harvesters. I mean it’s jolly well fine to drive around a country lane next to some Canada Geese in a field preparing to migrate to South Africa or something. But it’s another thing driving one around Norwich city centre pretending to be all enthusiastic about the new ‘Dean Fucking Smith’ revolution. Waving a yellow and green scarf about. Remembering the days when Jeremy Goss scored away at Bayern Munich. Unfortunately for Norwich the only way they will get into Europe next season is via a late entry to the Eurovision Song Contest with a tribute act singing “I’ve got a brand new combine harvester”. And thats it really. Naarwich 0 WWFC 2.
I’m expecting the same starting 11 for this game.
Won’t be easy, as Norwich are on a little run of their own. They don’t score many tho and I’m backing our defence to keep a clean sheet.
I’d like to get at least 4 points from the next 2 games.
The West Ham performance was very good, West Ham where not poor we where just really at it particularly from 15 mins until we finally scored. Produce that performance Saturday we win but sadly football is never that straight forward
Horribly wrong last week. No clue …
They have some momentum now, but so do we. And we’re not Brentford or Southhampton. We are Wolves!
KA/TNs
Wanted to predict us going on a bit of a scoring spree tomorrow, but think the atrocious weather will play its part. Still expect us to win. UTW.
I’m going for a Wolves win. I’d love to see us batter them but i’ll settle for a single goal margin. UTW
Looking for a comfortable victory Norwich + Burnley before the ‘hard’ fixtures kick in.
I believe the result of this game depends largely on which Wolves team turns up. If we are on our ‘A’ game, Norwich won’t know what’s hit ’em! Having said that, we haven’t had too many good “back to back’ games.
If ‘slick Wolves’ turn up. we should win comfortably.
Consistency has been a problem for us so far, if we play anywhere near as well as last week a comfortable win should be the result but anything less with them on a bounce we could give away a point.
Norwich 2 – 2 Wolves
Comments about the possible effects of bad weather underline the amazing progress that’s been made with pitches over recent years. I’m sure many will remember how the one at Derby’s Baseball Ground used to resemble Blackpool beach by this time of the season, and there was that famous photo of Tom Finney looking as though he was water-skiing. By the end ofthe season most grounds had extensive ‘bald patches’ and the last few games were often played on pitches as hard as concrete. I suppose the measure is how few games are postponed these days compared with then. Forecasting the result might still have its difficulties, but at least we can be almost certain the game will be played,
As someone else has said, I prefer to see the Palace game as an aberration and our recent results as what we should expect – barring too many injuries with our small squad – and so am expecting us not to have a wasted trip. A safe journey to all who will be travelling – and an enjoyable journey home.
COYW
Like others I find the Noooorwitch fans comments a bit insulting.
We are not the finished article yet, but we are showing signs of a cohesive unit.
Professional and controlled performance required and I think we can win this. Bruno will have warned against a repeat of Palace. Attack, pacey movement of the ball (yep agree with Spikey & “Penn) Citehesque and we will come away with the points.
Agreed regarding the arrogant Northwich Victoria fan Marney
Really got up my conk and just for that I really hope that we step up a gear today.
Fancy a draw but being in a mood of rare optimism I going to mpredict a win.
Looking for a strong, fast start. Concerned about the weather, though we have players who are tremendous with the ball on the ground.
Has to be a Wolves win.
Enjoy the snow those of you in Wolverhampton but stay safe.
PS I’m not getting email notifications until very late on. Most weeks though I remember to go direct to the blog.
Link to the blog arrived at 14:38.
Easy win
To the Wolves
Need to stay on top now that I am on top, so:
When you reach the top Brompto, the only way is………?.
…… to make the gap bigger?
I want to win the league this time because it will be my hat trick lol
Hoping the team that beat West Ham turns up and not the one that lost to Palace, if so, comfortable win. We really need consistency now…
Love the comment from the Norwich fan about the importance of wins. Top marks for stating the bleeding obvious. This one could go either way, especially the way we have been performing away from home but we should have enough quality to see them off.
I can see a pretty dire game coming up here but just hope we can get the job done. 6 points from the next two would put us in a fantastic position going into the festive period. Let’s hope we can do it
3 points please lads.

Given rising sea levels due to global warming, relegation isn’t all the Canaries have to worry about. I fully expect East Anglia to be underwater in ten years.
My first, and sad to say, only trip to the Mol, 4.3.1978, was a 3-3 draw with Norwich, and they managed to snatch a point from the jaws of victory, a game we should have won. Kenny Hibbitt scored on Half time, Steve Daley got 2. Martin Peters was playing for Norwich.
One of my least fav sporting headlines ever, though comic in hindsight, was the Express & Star’s
‘Toothless Wolves savaged by Canaries’
following a 5-1 away loss to the pesky birds. We were in terminal decline sometime in the 80’s.
Thankfully times have changed and though I have few teeth left, we can expect to give these Canaries a good mauling, cementing our dentures in the top 6.
1 lv & COYW.
Thanks Rasta. Whenever I read about the disastrous Wolves period in the 1980s, I’m reminded of the famous quote by LP Hartley: “The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.”
We weren’t the only football club to have been threatened with oblivion and sadly we won’t be the last. It may be three steps forward and two steps back at times, but our future is very bright under Fosun ownership.
Hoping last week’s superb team turns up and will go for a 3-1 win…
Can we get a banner out, specially for Dean Smith, and the Trollop who thinks they’re as good as us? I suggest that it says ‘mind the gap’
A home brace of goals for three more points…
This has 9-0 written all over it .
Lol. To be honest I also thought we would score a few. How wrong were we?
Well I got half the score right ( smiley face emoji)Steve.
The weather can make this match a little unpredictable, but quality will always shine through and we have much more of it than them.
Interesting that Trincao is in and Podence not even on the bench. Injured? Or saving him for Burnley.
Don’t mind a bit of rotation with a tough schedule coming up.
Play like we can and the points will be ours.
Struck down with Covid- major disappointment given his ability to influence tight games vis Villa and West Ham. Hope he’s available against the Pool.
Easy win, but I’ll stick with a modest 2-0n to us, could be much more. Maybe Trincao will oblige with a welcome goal too.
Well that was quite pants. Ait Nouri’s worst match by far. A point is more than we deserved tbh, but a point I will take.
I only listened on Wolves radio commentary, but Rayan seemed to be doing Ok, It was the terible weather perhaps, and Trincao still not really firing still. Maybe Podence would have done better if available, and Traore could on be introduced much earlier……….
I listened on WM DAB radio. We sounded a bit insipid if im honest but you have to take into acount Podence missing and Norwich new manager bounce. A point away from home is never to be sniffed at. Especially in the prem. A win v Burnley will make todays draw a very good one.
Every time i see Kalvin Phillips hair on telly I expect a sparrow to emerge from it.
