It’s always an entertaining game at Carrow Road.

From Robbie Keane’s emphatic league debut in 1997 to Bully’s sublime chip over Bryan Gunn, Wolves have some fond memories from East Anglia.
But there’s been some misery too. Play-off heartache in 2002 stands out and we haven’t had a decent result there for a good few years now.
The Canaries turned us over 5-2 in our promotion season under McCarthy and having climbed up into the Premier League themselves a few years later, won 2-1 in the fixture to help condemn their opponents to the drop.
This game is beautifully poised with both clubs on the fringes of the play-offs and looking to break in.
Norwich
Beating Norwich on the first day of the season was a wonderful tonic. I was convinced they’d be towards the top of the league and haven’t been proven wrong.
Like Wolves, they’ve been consistent if not spectacular home and away. Unlike Wolves though (until this week anyway), they haven’t had a problem finding the net.
They’ve already scored 36 goals at Carrow Road this term, a Championship record that can only be equaled by Watford.
Cameron Jerome has 14 in the league already and has been ably supported by Gary Hooper (9) and Lewis Grabban (8). They must have one of the strongest forward lines in the league.
New boss Alex Neil has certainly inherited one of the strongest squads, so the play-offs must be considered a minimum requirement.
Wolves
It’s a daunting fixture this, but away from home Wolves have shown that they can be a dangerous outfit of late. There’s bags of pace in the attacking third, which can stretch teams on the break.

I don’t think many defences will fancy taking on our front four and after the goals and result at Huddersfield, it would be a bold move from the manager to make wholesale changes.
By all accounts the 442 left us open in midweek, but it created space for our attacking players to do the damage. I suppose Kenny has to weigh up whether we can win a similar type of shootout against Norwich?
I think Golbourne and Iorfa can count themselves unlucky to be out of the team, but like Edwards, Henry and Evans, they’ll get another chance at some point.
The gaffer
Predictions
Definitely plonking myself firmly on the fence for this one. Can see Norwich doing a number on us, but if Wolves can get their best attacking players into the game, we’ll create chances and could easily win.
This isn’t must win for either team, but with the top six keeping a steady pace neither will want to lose any further ground.
I think it might be cagey, but the stats suggest goals galore at Carrow Road this season.
My best guess is 2-2.
Up The Wolves!

Expecting a good game. The win in the week could be the result that puts our foot down on the home straight. Dicko 1 sako 1 afobe 1
Hope I’m wrong, and we find some consistency. Afobe to score again (though I think it’ll have to be off the bench as KJ will play Edwards).
Agreed Chris. I got it wrong against Huddersfield, so have gone for the same score again!
COYW!
Have to ask if KJ has finally stumbled on his best line up after the win at Huddersfield. If he has and he keeps with it I think we could be in for a goal fest at Carrow Road.
Hopefully he plays an unchanged team and the lads do us proud.
Going for the win but would accept a draw.
Come on me babbies
S o, a lot of fans are smiling after the Huddersfield game but
T o be honest, I feel that Norwich are going to be more difficult
O ppponents. I believe Kenny should not change too much but should
P lay Iorfa in place of Doherty.
T aking 3 points at Carrow Road is not going to be easy. I agree that the game
I s going to see a few goals though, and if we can keep good possession and
N ot become sloppy in midfield then I do not see why we can not win this one.
K enny knows what he is doing, but he can frustrate us as his changes are not
E asily understood by us fans. We all seem to know what our best side is but it is
R eally up to him, not us, even though we sigh when we see him picking a team that
I s not the team we would have selected. Having said that, I like what I see just
N ow and apart from Iorfa not playing I am happy with what he is giving us. I am
G oing away for a while so my next game is not until April. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!
You’re right about the names that should feel unlucky about being left out of the side Thomas.
Particularly Edwards.
If it hadn’t have been for his goals and work rate over the last few matches, we would have been down among the dead men, worrying about relegation rather than still in with a play off chance.
But worrying about who you leave out is a sign of a strong squad and, on paper, our squad is up there with the best in the division.
We’ve just got to translate the ‘on paper’ to ‘on grass’!
One swallow doesn’t make a Summer but the front four that Kenny fielded on Saturday really looked the business and could give any defence a good going over.
I think a draw is the most realistic result but, dammit!, I’m going for a win.
Don’t let me down lads.
I, of course, meant the front four Kenny fielded on Tuesday!
Was it Tuesday… or Wednesday… or last week…OH! Bugger, I can’t remember…
…What’s my name again?
Nurse. The screens!
I would nub it out in the ashtray if I were you, besides it is a tad early to be partaking!
Goal crazy! Would be nice to get a win, but think Carrow Road might not be as fruitful as our Tuesday night trip to Huddersfield.
Ben, Thomas,
I may not be able to get on the blog for a while as I off to “top up” my tan in the Caribbean so ask if the following predictions could be placed for me:
Wolves 3 Rotherham 0
Wolves 3 Fulham 0
Cardiff 1 Wolves 2
Bournemouth 2 Wolves 2
Wolves 2 Watford 1
Thanks
Caribbean Eh?
Sounds good mate. Which particular part?
Cruising dude, cruising.
You can get arrested for doing that in the wrong place!!!
and you would know of course!!!
Its obviously an undercover mission. ‘ts a far far better thing etc’. Get back safe Brompto.
Take a look at the Mexican striker while your’e there Brompton Wolf. That one we discussed at Huddersfield, him with only 1 tooth in his head.
You remember his name Jauneata (one eater)
Disappointed you went for a 2-1 at Cardiff, I’m taking my 10 year old Grandson since your’e abondoning me for the gorgeous Jill, i was banking on agoal fest for him.
🙂
There probably will be a goal fest – just look at how many predictions I get right.
Why the ef can’t we beat effinfing Bournemouth ? Controversial mate !
Crikey Steve …. 5 predictions .. no-ones picked up on the fact that’s a heck of a holiday mate … how long you there for ? ….. The clocks will be going back again by the time you return ….
Nice preview Thomas.
As you said, I too, think there will be some goals in this one, especially if Kenny sticks with the formidable four up top.
They were some well taken goals on Tuesday night, and from the highlights anyway, RVLP, Dicko, Afobe and Sako look as if they link well together.
So optimistic as ever with my prediction, but can’t see us getting away without perhaps shipping one or two though.
Come on Me Babbies!!!
How many times down the years have we looked at form book with teams full of goals to then see a boring 0-0?
Would be good to do the double over a decent team… Let’s hope it starts today (this is not a prediction) but I’d be happy with a 0-1.
We seem, of late, to have done much better against teams that have the confidence to come at us and struggled to break down teams who come looking for a point. I’m sure Norwich, with their fine home record and quality attacking players, will feel more than capable of taking all three points and this has the makings of a real humdinger.
I think our defense will need to really show their metal in this one and on that the final result could rest. Stearman has been a monster in the last few games and if the other three, whoever they may be, can show the same commitment then victory could well be ours. Overall though, I’d be happy with a draw.
i don’t know. #headsgone #shotoutofthedark #terrybutcher
Yes there may well be a hatful of goals, but I’ll go hopefully a narrow Wolves win which we will need to stay up with the play off places.
May I make one point and beef up the fantastic form of Jack Price – he is the one who has shored up the midfield and at times a shaky defence, doing the dirty work and being a ball winner. Every team needs someone to do the unheralded necessary grit and he is just as important as the play-maker Macdonald alongside him.
When Evans/Rowe etc take up a central midfield position we look extremely vulnerable.
If Kenny is going to play a counter-attacking policy away from home with the speed of our forwards and wingers then inclusion of Price is imperative, we are simply not they same team without him, though I admit that Dave Edwards is unlucky to lose out (as is the pretty much un-played Jacobs this season.)
Can’t see Kenny sticking with Tuesday’s team after Hudd had 30 odd shots and 13 on target. I expect to see Edwards back to shore-up the midfield, but with an emphasis still on counter-attacking. I’d also like to see Iorfa and Hause both in to counter the aerial threat of Hooper and Jerome. Us to sneak it.
Mmm ..I think that wolves could possibly win or Maybe draw . Norwich , on the other hand could win but that would only lead to their supporters going to turnip field s and celebrating with their sisters cousins and aunties . Better hope that wolves win as there are already a lot of those special children walking around Sandwell . Difficult to call though, plenty to ponder on .
U T W
Check out the Bloggers Unite thread I posted on 29 Jan mate to confirm your Polo shirt details are correct and I will then place the order. See you soon my friend.
London Wolves
Oye reely take eggseption to your blog, my wife is from Norwich, I married him after he divorced his sister ( whi incidently was his mother from his first marriage.)
We’re quits….. That’s a pint you owe me.
🙂
Terrific result on Tuesday and a real boost to our play off chances. Looking for a similar game with a similar result but I have to predict a loss as every time I do we up our game and blow the opposition away.
we are so unpredictable at the moment, but think Norwich will get one more goal.
I going for a loss. I can’t see us keeping a clean sheet and Norwich appear to have plenty of goals in them….
As consistent and steady (commanding even at times) as Batth and Stearman have looked recently, those around them still look vulnerable, Hause and Doherty were found wanting a number of times on Tuesday and with someone willing to run at them, as Scannell did, they both at times left the central two a little exposed. i thought Iorfa was doing ok so would be happy to see his althetic and unruffled presence back in.
I’m not totally sold on TK in nets either. He made some good saves on Tuesday but he loves a mistake and his kicking is terrible. Maybe it’s an adjustment to surroundings but I’m also not convinced of his ability in commanding those around him. We’ll see.
i think it’s all coming together a bit further up the pitch and am happy that Price is getting the run his influence on the team deserves.
VLP is frustration and opportunity in the same package. He does however seem to be building an understanding with those around him and Afobe has slotted in well.
I like Jacobs so would love to know what’s going on there? And Edwards is always reliable and adds a positive edge and has to be above Evans in the pecking order….he just doesn’t effect the game enough – from what I’ve seen of him!
Like you I doubt there will be any changes – except maybe Iorfa?
Hope I’m wrong, however I just have a feeling we’re going to be disappointed come 5pm on Saturday….
Agree with Thomas, score draw.
Norwich fan here…
If you come to Carrow Road playing so open as you did Tuesday night, you will likely get beaten. Norwich love playing in an open game. However, if you keep it tight, there’s no reason why you can’t win by knicking the odd goal. I’ll go for a Norwich win, but I don’t think it will be a comfortable afternoon. All the best for your season, aside playing the Canaries 😉
Thanks for your comment Daniel. You are playing some good stuff and very different from the opening fixture, but we are playing slightly better now too. I expect a glut of goals and in my opinion I think we will nick it.
Regardless of the result, good luck for the rest of the season my friend.
Final details of the Wolves Blog Polo Shirts are now in the Bloggers Unite thread posted on the 29th Jan. All those who have ordered are now asked to revisit that thread and confirm they are content with the details.
So I put the new design in front of my people during a blue sky, thinking outside the box session, ran it up the flag pole in a robust manner, and it was duly saluted.
If you want my two cents I think you have really brought your ‘A’ game to the party and taken polo shirts to the next level.
At the end of the day I literally look forward to touching base going forward.
If you ever feel you need to reinvent the wheel, ping me.
Ciao!
Just wanted everyone to check the details, such as name spelling and size, and of course how much it will cost, before I commit to ordering mate. Still not sure if the colour of the logo is “old gold” though. But I think it will be less yellow than what I had on the one I wore last time and less orange than the Sir Jack T Shirt too.
I’m going for an entertaining and high scoring draw. I can’t imagine KJ changing a winning team and at the same time I fear Norwich’s goal power. As usual I’m conflicted about this, but I can even see it as a 6-4 win. Hope so.
I nearly had it right, finally, on Tuesday, and I get the vibe off the blog that everyone, players, manager, greasel included, feels extremely sorry for me, and will get in spot on tomorrow.
It doesn’t matter who the opposition is, they have to fear our attacking line up as much as we supposedly fear theirs.
Look at our fantastic goals for column!!
Nah, I have never been a pessimist, and will NEVER forecast us to lose or draw.
Easy three points down there among the tractors.
Nice to see Villa in relegation trouble, could only happen to one “nicer” team.
FOwb
I don’t feel sorry for you … you’ve got more PL points than me !!
First goal is all important. If we get it we can win.
Hope I am wrong.
But we are too inconsistent.
Usually we play well, optimism increases, then we lose.
Suspect a draw but I’ll opt for an away win & a tight game.
UTW
We want 4, we want 4, well i do at least….as long as we score one more ill be a happy bunny
Easy win for Wolves.
Late on parade..
close one this…I hope Mrs ‘let’s be havin ya’ Delia will have a face like a shrunken prune at the end.. we could smash and grab here..
I’m unfortunately sitting with the Norwich neandathols with my son (I can’t read,I can’t write, but I can drive a tractor) so when we score it will be interesting..watch the news.
Our front runners (I hope Afobe and Dicko play together) no doubt will be single out to be marked so Mr Sako
could lead the scoring..or how about K-Mac?
Stinks of a draw but if we score early..
….COYW
Think we will struggle with this one.
If you are going to play Afobe and Dicko together I would play Evans whose range of passing could utilise their pace – probably with Price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The play offs still well within reach – a little strengthening of the squad wouldn’t go amiss. We missed out on additional strengthening in the transfer window so maybe the loan wiondow. We’ve made a statement of intent in holding onto Sako so let’s show some ambition.
I’m banking on us to re-discover some consistency going into the final 16 games of the season. We’re safe on 48 points and 48 more points are up for grabs. I think Ipswich and Brentford will falter by the end of the season, leaving us and Norwich to take their places in the top six. My head says 2-2 tomorrow but my heart says 3-2 to us.
29 games later and Norwich away still presents a formidable challenge.
If I’m honest we did well to win the first game but it was tight … so me thinks it will be another cat and mouse affair (No not Tom and Jerry …) I’m going for a steady 1 – 1
Pressed wrong button … looks like I’ve got some of the DOOG’s symptoms.!
I didn’t get any points even though I predicted wolves would beat huddersfield. Any way to fix That? I should be at 34. Thanks!
I think we pull out the win in a tightly contested match.
I really can’t see KJ approaching this one without considerable caution so I expect a more defensive-minded team and use our considerable pace to hit them on the break.
Huddersfield was a great result but a similar policy at Norwich could be fatal. Can see us nicking it but a point would allow me to enjoy my Saturday night pints.
I’m going to be. Bold and go for a 2.1 win for Wolves that’s assuming Jackett sticks with the same team that beat Huddersfield.
A few goals, us to sneak it I hope.
I can’t see anything else other than a defeat, we will get ploughed into the ground and well and truly buried under the soil.
Well that’s my Bollox over we’re guaranteed a win now, Come on me Babbies.
5-1 if you Love young Clive
5-1 if you Love young Clive
And on and on and on……
🙂
Young? Young? lol
Bollocks
Double and triple bollocks
Lock up your scarecrows. Gonna be a SAINT VALENTINES DAY MASSACRE in Norfolk. Well, 3-1 anyway. Benik (2), Bakary screamer that will quite literally take the nets off and leave Ruddy sort of ruddy faced really. And why does everyone in Norwich look like John Bond?
Confidence from last weeks great win can roll on to Carrow Road.
Agree with most posts on here,it could be a goal-fest.
Don’t think we can afford to be as open as we were on Tuesday, Norwich are a much better side than HT and won’t waste chances in front of goal.
I won’t be too concerned if we lose this one as Carrow Road is one of the hardest places to visit. I think getting our home form right will be the key to the end of the season.
Tough one this. I am still not convinced about our keeper – he makes me nervous. That said Norwich will struggle to match our front line for pace so I fancy us to have enough scoring opportunities to bag a couple. My view is we are a better away side at the moment so let’s see if Norwich fall into the trap and throw everything at us.
I’d take a draw but I think it’ll be a narrow defeat can’t bank on Norwich being as wasteful as Huddersfield. Still I’ll be happy as party if Kenny proves me wrong.
I really like the attacking intent at Huddersfield and for sure it will bring us goals , Also we will give opponents chances huddersfield missed theirs. Norwich are a better team but lets go for it and between now and the end of the season we will win more than we lose.
Hoping for another win but as long as we don’t lose I will be happy.
I would prefer Golbourne in and Lorfa but can’t really change a winning side so lets wait and see.
we should take confidence from our win on Tuesday so why not a win as long as we score first.
Still hope for reinforcements in midfield area though..UTW Fickle fan..
Just to prove the King Kenny is also a God.
Donovan Wilson who we secured from Bristol City under Kenny’s keen nose scored 2 today to put us 2-0 up against Stoke U21’s at Macclesfield’s ground.
This was duly countered by Stoke after Sam Ricketts brought down a player and got sent off,
Game ended 2-2 both the youngster who got two and the chappie who gave the foul away and was sent off were down to Kenny’s vision.
He spotted the one on the way up and noticed the one going the other way.
Justifies his actions in a small way.
🙂
after conceeding 1 in midweek I think we will keep a clean sheet and I fancy us to score 1
Archbishop Desmond.
Wolves to prevent Norwich from playing and hopefully to scrape a draw.
My twin brother lives in Norwich and all his sons support Norwich so lets get singing.
You only sing when you are ploughing, sing when you are ploughing.
You only sing when you are ploughing, sing when you are ploughing.
.. repeat until the cows come home
I have no idea so going with the standard 2-1 Wolves
I’ve had some great away days at Carrow Road, such a shame the pub near the ground was knocked down for houses. Most memorable was Robbie’s debut, though I had seen him Stirling the week before.
Easter Monday 2003 was just brilliant with a 0-3 win.
Couple of horror stories too with the Play-offs defeat and the 5-2 disaster under Mick.
Hope we stick with 4-4-2 tomorrow. Expecting another 3 points.
Classic championship scrap but i think we have enough to disrupt them with our improving forward line.
I think this one will be tough.
Got an odd feeling we’re going to thump them tomorrow.
I’ve been looking at the scores on here and well darn, I’ll go for the Canaries to win this one. Sorry chaps.. I think they want us bad after we beat them at their first game back in the Championship. I hope I’m dead wrong on this score line..
Unbeaten run has started again and needs to last to early March at least now or this seasons done. We have to get up for a slice of the new Prem money. Brentford are definitely going to still off now so their place will be up for grabs, this game will set the tone for who gets it.
I can well understand those predicting a loss for wolves but i think it will be a very cagey game as neither side will want to lose.
So those who predict the draw will most likely be right, however i think there’s a good chance of us winning this if the def fence remain solid.
So I’ll predict a win for wolves, by the way i agree completely about peoples comments on Jack Price and never understood why he wasn’t played from the start, but I’m no manager so what wood i know.
Still bewildered by Huddersfield result….but we’re due to lose one and I think this is it..hope not
Hoping for another good win. Tougher team this time though. I have faith in the boys.
Going for the win again last minute winner from sako
Last time we played Norwich was tough and nothing to suggest otherwise with this game.
Three points would be awesome but I’ll go for a draw.
Tough game today, i fancy a draw.
If we are to challenge for the play offs we need to win this one
UTW
Well – don’t think we can quite win this one. And why not a goalless draw? After all we are unpredictive.
A great test of our confidence, skill and determination. It seems that whenever we get close to pushing on this year, we turn in a poor performance.
Here’s hoping the last result was the start of an ongoing improvement in our goal difference.
I like our form away from home.
If Kenny doesn’t tinker with the team again I think we can win.
More wishful thinking than a prediction based on detailed analysis of past results
Hope we start with the same line up and finish as clinically as we did on Tuesday.
COME ON YOU WOLVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Head says that 6 pointers are rare, as are two big wins in a week. Also that we’ll struggle to contain their forward line. Heart says we did it against Watford, we’re better away and it’s time for an upset – in our favour that is. They’re bound to score, but we’ll edge it as the forward line continues to gel.
Hoping for more goals than just the one though!
I don’t mean to be negative after a great result the other night but I think Norwich might be too strong for us.
Happy if we Nick a point……
Anyone know if I can stream the game anywhere as I had to work last night and can’t make the game
Happy Valentine’s day wanderers! 3 East Anglian points please.
Sako to level it up
Counter attacks + plenty of luck = 3 points
Based on our knack of getting the better of the sides above us, hoping we grab a narrow win. Batth and Stearman are certainly going to need to be on top of their game for us to take away anything today!
Today has got a make or break feel 2-1 Wolves.
If we play the same line-up as Tuesday I’ll back us to score goals. Trouble is we’ll be weaker in midfield so a strong Norwich side could take advantage. It could well be 2-2 but I’ll back our frontline to edge it at 2-3. Come on me babbies!!
