The hype around the new Adidas kit has been considerable, but I wanted to wait until I’d got up close and personal before commenting.

So along with hundreds of others (I’ve never seen the megastore so busy on a non-matchday) I wandered down to Molineux earlier to pick up the home shirt and form an opinion.
Colour
If I’m being pedantic (and that’s my job as a blogger right?) I’d point out this isn’t really ‘old gold’. In fact, the marketing campaign should probably have been #NewGoldNewChallenge for the sake of accuracy. It’s really more ‘Adidas yellow’.

The above shows the new top (left) against a few of the old shirts and it’s relative luminosity. It’s a lot more vibrant than any Wolves home kit I can remember. This isn’t necessarily a criticism, it’s just a radical departure from my perception of what old gold should look like, which is probably the colour of this top from 2001:

This idea might be incorrect of course and some of the *cough* more senior bloggers might like to educate me further on what constitutes classic old gold.
Fit
I’m what the fashion conscious like to call a lanky weed, but the benefit of this is that a size Medium is nearly always the correct benchmark to assess fit.

Sportswear in my experience is usually larger than regular clothing, so I’d suggest this top is a bit more fitted than expected but more or less true to size. If you’re ordering online, unable to try on the top before buying and straddle the line between two sizes, I would advise going bigger if unsure. But what do I know?
Design
I like the trademark Adidas stripes across the shoulders and would probably have preferred to see them run all the way down the arms too, but I might be in the minority there.

The Adidas and Wolves logos are stitched on, which give it a more premium feel. Unlike others, I don’t think the size or design of the W88 logo is too much of an issue.
Cost
£49 is a hefty old sum for an adult shirt that will probably be replaced this time next summer, but it’s the accepted standard and most people seem to have made their peace with the cost.

Judging by the queue for printing names, numbers and Premier League badges, many are even happy to part with £10-15 extra for personalisation and/or bragging rights.
Overall
Although the above might suggest otherwise, this is probably the best Wolves top I’ve seen in my lifetime, but that’s not saying much. I’d have preferred a darker shade of gold but the quality – on first impressions – certainly can’t be faulted. It’s great to have the association of a prestige brand and I fully expect both replica shirts, as well as the equally smart training wear to fly off the shelves.

Received my home top Saturday morning and was well pleased with it overall. Less pleased that I had paid for a Prem Badge which was missing. Noticed on We Are Wolves Facebook page a few had the same problem.
I probably won’t buy the shirt. Being a bit of a fat bastard I might not fit in to it. That said I quite like it. And the all white away strip. Sort of fresh and vibrant which reflects where we are now. Top dogs in the West Midlands. The shit fan at work text me yesterday with a picture of a bloke celebrating England’s win on top of a bus in Wolverhampton and the words ‘typical low life Dingle’ I replied that in Wolverhampton we are used to being on top these days. No reply.
Id agree “a little more yellow” than I thought but the Top for me is the best in my last 30yrs buying them
I love it and would agree Adidas have gone for the more comfortable fit which means I have moved from an XL for the last 20 yrs to a Size L
Happy Days
In Nuno We Trust
I too think it should be darker, I have the “old gold” on my gates and fence, well you have to don’t you living in Hill Top, not far from the unmentionables and have one or two living by me.
Should be a great season, fetching my home and away Wednesday having pre ordered.
Wolves aywe.
Just looking at the news. May be Brexit is dead. Fuckin hope so. The thought of the posh buffoon Boris taking us forward is truly worrying. Perhaps the minister for the, 18th century Rees-mogg will come to save us from the dreadful frogs and Germans. Fuckin loff ay it.
Cheeso, who is this Brexit of whom you speak, and why would he be dead?
When we win the World Cup, them Froggies and Phlegms will deffo kick us out of Europe.
But the good news is they have changed the rules for the Euros, in two years time.
If your club side is good enough, and has at least six different nationalities in the line up, then it can be entered as a country!!
So, we will win The Prem, then the following season both the Champions League and the European World Cup thingy!
Think yourself lucky over there with Boris, we got Trumpton.
Cor weight till Wensday.
Yeah Clive. Roll on Wednesday nite and Croatia demolition!
Don’t forget that if Tottenham do win the world cup and then we beat Tottenham you all know what that makes us don’t ya?
(and not for the first time)
My new shirt arrived at 8.30 last Saturday morning. First impression nice but not old gold as I remembered it from the 50’s when I first went to the Mol.
As regards the logo can’t say I really wanted a betting company on the shirt but the appearance is not to bad in my opinion.
Being an old fart of a fat bastard I had gone for the 3XXL size which fitted me very comfortably. Not tight but room enough to breath. (Must have been OK because the missus didn’t laugh).
Despite it not really being true old gold I do like the colour just that little bit different. It got some snide remarks from Leeds & Villa fans in the village on Saturday & Sunday so that was a bit of a result.
Think I might have to get a white away one as well.
I like it, but will probably just be picking up the away shirt – looks classier in my humble opinion. The home is tidy and sharp looking, but I can’t get past thinking it’s too yellow. Maybe gives us an excuse to air the away one a bit more? If we keep adidas for a few years, this design is sweet… Just needs darkening to proper old gold and it’ll be a classic.
Mine arrived today, certainly agree that its very bright yellow, er indoors says yellowy orange, but I’m colourblind so how would I know!
I guess it was old gold that got highly polished like everything else at the club!
I have definitely felt for a few years that our strips had gone away from old gold and towards orange, I’ve not physically seen one yet but from pictures it looks like this may have been an overcorrection in the yellow direction. Ah well, those three stripes on the arm and the global Premier League audience will mean that Wolves badge will end up on the chest of kids all over the world, probably with Neves on the back. Which is pretty cool.
I like the kit but it’s certainly not Old Gold.
Too bright and yellow for that.
Perhaps, after a few muddy Tuesday night matches and several washes, it’ll calm down a bit.
It used to work with my school kit.
More forward thinking from Fosun!
Mine arrived Saturday morning the fit and quality are amazing other half said it is yellow but after a while you get used to it. l think again this is a master stoke from the Wolves PR as our younger fans will go nuts on it.
New app called CKayTV. Good resolution. You have to create a free account.
Don’t forget to practice safe surfing. Use a VPN.
Cheers Tim but a couple of questions?
I’m currently on holiday & only have a body board but no surf board Q? Do I still need to be safe?
Also Q? What do I need a Visable Panty Line for? At 53 my missus ain’t too fussed if I show where my jockies start & finish ?
Hey, you can drown in an inch of water so, yes, bodyboard safe too (also, I said VPN, not VPL).
Hope everyone saw that the Basel was showing the game free on their website.
Can’t wait for the season to start to see how we measure up against the best in the land.
Strange transfer shenanigans to say the least. Afobe here, Bonatini gone then hey presto & it’s reversed. Feel we need more in. But not Boris Johnson on a free.
The shirt, I’m a bit curmudgeonly about these new advertising logo led kits. So won’t be sporting one. I’ll make do with the free Fosun scarf & wait for the cooler weather!
Have to concede though I like the adidas design. Up the Wolves.

Just seen a picture of Jota after scoring the second goal against Basel
The new shirt without the advertising looks great
Does anyone know how the hell you can get one of those ???
Mine arrived last week. Like most on here, I do not see it as old gold, but like it nonetheless. Bloody costly though lol. Might have to get my kids and my missus to buy me a white one for my birthday.
My highost visit jacket arrived on time although it’s taken me this long to regain my sight having opened it in the garden !
Not sure howhat the steel toecap sidecar and hard hat will affect the style of play ?
Should read hi vis !
Lol I just love predictive text ?
Having a great time among the dreaming spires.
They’m all talk real posh ‘ere.
A bit like the man who does the drives.

I don’t like it.
It’s not the true Wolves Old Gold, so it’s not authentic and it’s a garish yellow.
Why do these merchandise people mess with a good tradition?
