It took a while to get here, but almost five years to the day that Steve Morgan offered a tenner and a handshake for Sir Jack’s labour of love, he might have finally taken ownership of it.
Whichever calamitous straw it was that broke the camel’s back matters little right now, nor the 1800 odd days it took to break it.
The most significant point from last season’s car crash of a campaign is that the repair work has begun and the owner has finally started owning.

No more rubbernecking at the carnage, no more blaming the conditions and no more half-arsed repair jobs with the apprentice technician.
On March 28 Wolves Blog offered five solutions to help us get back on the road to recovery, barely believing that Mr Morgan would be streetwise enough to think along the same lines.
Maybe we underestimated him, because apart from the free-travel we were advocating for our hard suffering away fans, he has already acted on four of them.
- Terry Connor was effectively gone before the Wigan game had started, with a new pair of Nordic eyes already in place, seemingly with the minimum of fuss.
- The club confirmed that Guedioura would have a part to play next season and would not be sold forthwith (along with other top performing loanees including Batth and Cassidy)
- The club said sorry like we demanded they should, on numerous occasions in fact, with some degree of sincerity
- They kept the early bird prices open over the summer in a goodwill gesture that speaks far more eloquently than Jez Moxey ever could.
Fair’s fair.
To coin a Big Ron phrase from yesteryear, if they (the club) haven’t done enough, then I’ll whip ‘em (and have done so in more blogs than I care to remember)
But I ‘aint whipping them for that.
At some point, a line needs to be drawn under the farce that was last season. Moving it to the hard shoulder, towing it away and writing it off as a thoroughly bad job was imperative.
That Steve Morgan has done this, while assuming the role of police officer and emergency service worker all in one must surely be a good thing for the longer journeys that await – no matter how long it took to get there.

Well, if Stale lives up to his hype then we can look forward to a brighter future – the financial side has always been stable for Wolves under the current owner so here’s hoping Stale makes us a good footballing side as well!
Both nervous and excited about the new season – bring it on!
Nice one Ben. Let’s be positive.
Come on me babbies!!!!!!!!
Don’t think Stalle is the problem. Will Dumb and Dumber allow him to manage the way he wants?
Will Greaseball get in the way of team development and bringing in the players to make a winning team?
All of this remains unanswered.
Let’s hope lessons have been learnt.
What I am SO relieved about is that a firm decision was taken to get the new manager in place straightaway. Maybe Stale is a bit of a “left field” appointment, but you can see the merits.
Just imagine what the situation would be like if we were hanging on to see which (of the list of usual suspects) would care to consider us! There are so many manager posts up for grabs at the moment that we would have been right at the back of the queue – which would have lost valuable time.
All we can do is hope that Steve Morgan has made the right decision in appointing Stale but he may need time to rebuild. We must take into account that last seasons team is our worst team for many years based upon the points per game ratio. Read a quote from Gordon Strachan that once a player has been relegated with a team you can smell the relegation on them ! Too many in our squad even before last season and I worry that it may take 3 or 4 years to turn things around and I am unsure he will be given the time by our supporters.
But hey what the f*ck do I know ! This time next year we will be celebrating our return to the Premiership with Ebanks Blake called in to the England squad. UTW
I agree totally Ben, and the soon to be appointment of a Director of Football, is another step in the right direction, clipping Moxey`s wings at the same time. Someone who knows something about football, someone there who knows and understands the uk market, and will help the manager rebuild the squad and team.
All of this led me yesterday afternoon to renew my season ticket on line, and I hope that many thousands of other stalwart Wolves fans will do the same thing asap.
This post McCarthy era (starting probably a year too late) is very interesting, refreshing and offers genuine hope for the next few seasons that “out of darkness cometh light”. I would also say I was stone cold sober when I renewed my season ticket, and like every football supporter who loves his club, I believe better things are around the corner.
My season ticket was re-newed on the first day of the early bird, why can’t you and the other morons get of the back of Jez Moxey, bring another CEO in and see if they do anything different, we are in good shape because of his dealings problem is some of our fans can’t see it, the same way that they can’t see that they DO NOT RUN THE CLUB, they are customers, and has such can always shop somewere else.
It makes me laugh when I read comments like we demanded they apologise! lol, lol, lol, lol, who the hell do you think you are!
You say you love the club?????? so why has it took you this long to renew your season ticket?
we will see who loves the club if things don’t go right for us next season, I don’t think it will happen and will be looking forward to a very successful season, but if it doesn’t happen I will still renew my season ticket for the following season (out of my pension money).
John, i agree with you. I have previously asked on here why Jez Moxey gets all this abuse.
Its total nonsense although Iam in favour of getting a director of football in and leave Jez to look after financial affairs where he does a very good job. Like you I renewed in March and like you I will renew the following season from my pension money (God willing)
LOYALTY USED NEVER TO BE A QUESTION OF MONEY ! NOW ITS ONLY A QUESTION OF MONEY !! GET YA HEAD OUT OF THE SAND ! MUG!! fwaw NEWBRIDGE MASSIVE !
Johnwolf……
WTF are you on about again you complete and utter muppet
Everyone is entitled to and opinion its just that yours is as lopsided as the Tower of Pisa
People offer a un slanted view and you shoot them down!
Grow up man……..you sound like a school yard bully who only lets people “believe” their thoughts….
You are not the only wolves fan in fact you are probably one of the happy clapping lemmings that would have followed madmick straight off the edge of the cliff into oblivion if he had had his way and remained in charge!
Johnwolf, you are a first class prick.
Firstly, you criticize a bloke who wisely waited to spend his hard earned money, unlike you, I suspect, who is collecting a pension off the back of taxpayers, and you probably worked in the pits and were a big fan of Arthur Scargill, and then you have the fuckin’ nerve to call him a moron. Where do you get off having that right?
To someone whom you’ve never met?
By that logic, I reckon it’s fair for me to call you a thick, dickhead twat….as I’ve never met you.
Get a fuckin’ life and stop slaggin off my best mate.
The gloves are off, shitferbrains, you’ve opened a fuckin’ big can off whoop ass!!
“Pot calling the kettle black ?” When it comes to being offensive on here you win hands down mate ! So what makes you such a fucking authority ? I agree with Johnwolf about the ridiculous abuse that Moxey received, especially from you. Yes I have my pension and I worked fucking hard for 48 years to achieve it. Ripped off by governments and pension providers and you add insult to injury ! Also as a Wolves fan my support is unconditional. Its in my blood and i will always renew no matter what. Maybe people like you find that hard to understand. Yes I agree that Johnwolf goes over the top but how different is he from you ?
Put the handbags away, girls. I won’t be able to stand this until the new season starts and you find footballing matters to argue about again!! lol
I think Bemused Wolf and John Wolf should stop howling at the moon!
Do you, by the way, work for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, or some other bureaucratic organisation, who wish to justify lies as truth and political correctness ?
Unfortunately there is a subtle difference between tongue in cheek humor (Clive) and your rather bombastic ‘dictatorialism’ similar to Mr Moxey!
Remember guys, only Clive can call people pricks. Special treatment ya’know
Takes one to know one!!!!!!
Now if only the team shows this kind of spirit on the pitch, in 2 years we would be Champions of Europe, Now there’s a thought.
Johnwolf, firstly, if you’re going to insult someone please use correct grammar so your post makes sense.
Secondly, I agree Moxey, as well as Morgan, have been very stringent and stubborn on the finances, which looks great in the books BUT you have to remember it’s part of the reason we got relegated. ‘Only buying players from relegated teams – Johnson £40k a week and no relegation wage drop clause’. So part of the blame has to be put on his shoulders, as well as Morgans.
All of this could be forgiveable is he hadn’t pissed off the fans on numerous occasions over his tenure, each occasion eroded any positive feelings for the guy and turned most fans against him. Now we’re in a situation where he has a lot of making up to do and it looks like he and Morgan have realised this, as discussed is Bens blog.
Moxey still has a way to go though and reducing his control over the football side of the business will make a lot of fans happier. I dont think he’ll be sacked but Morgan is definitely looking for damage limitation between Moxey and the fans at the moment.
And finally, as many people reiterate, say something constructive or say nothing at all.
M&M are a joke!
Stalbokken out!!
I seriously hope the “Solbakken out” part of this post is sarcasm.
Leurn to spell mayte
Is that supposed to be joke, too? I either don’t get it or it’s not funny…I’m going to go with the latter.
God is good, God is Great
Ali Akbar and his mate!
What a moron you are, obiously a shit fan! just go and do one.
You are a moron of the lowest order.
good decision too to wait a while before appointing a director of football..learning to be wiser me thinks! at least it gives mr dead time to bed in and morgan a chance to step back and watch…then moxey will be an unnecessary board member and bye bye..
http://www.vargas12.com/2012/05/solbakken-wolves-is-a-dream-job-will-he-be-a-success/
Finally Mr Morgan did a brave decision and signed a fantastic manager. I am from Norway, I know a lot of Stales effort. As a player and as manager. He is top Class, get used to the thought!
He is a gaffer that can bring back glory times to Molineux in shortest time possible. In words of Premier League football.
Vargas
Norwegian Wolves fan forever!
His problem will be getting past some of our negative fans who think they run the club! think they are bigger than the club, think they know better than any manager we have, if Stale can learn how to tell them to **** off, then he will stand a good chance.
I do believe the bad fans will shut the f*** up when the results come in the right way. Someone will always be big in their mouth regardless of results.
Stale is a great choice and he will bring in good players!
Solbakken is in headlines in norwegian neewapapaers daily. Exiting times ahead.
To quote Spike in Notting Hill.
You daft prick.
Havent you realized, in all your years of watching football, trhat the fans ARE the club, and without them, the club would fade into obscurity and die?
Customers/fans are the lifeblood.
Owners/managers/players will come and go, but true fans will stay forever.
Johnwolf, the fans ARE the club. Without the supporters, Wolverhampton Wanderers would cease to exist, so forgive us for having the audacity to question bad management and inept leadership.
JohnWolf – Are you seeing a psychiatrist? – You seem to have anger management issues!
Don’t be so harsh on yourself John. Although I do think that Stan Stalbokken should tell you to f$ck off.
Johnwolf,Why don’t you,shut the f##k up putting it politely.FOJM,FOTC.
I just read this, and have to say that you write English a damn sight better than any Englishman could possibly write Norwegian………….and much, much better than any Albion fan can write English!!!
Sorry my bad english Clive, but I do see an asshole when I meet one. I dont think you are a true fan, just an ashole! the fans are ofcause important to any club, but so is a gaffer with a football brain as well.
Solbakken will surpise every supporter at Molineux, already before a ball is kicked in Championship!
I do believe that you will not understand anything in the matter of that? Will you Clive?
Vargas
You may write English very well, but I’m not sure you understand it half as well.
I paid you a big compliment, and I’m and asshole???
Thank you, that must be a compliment in Norway!!
Its not a complimant, when you call someone a prick and steal info from peoples blogs. Wolves dont need fans like you. And yes, I do understand every bullshit you come up with!
Well, excuse the fuck out of me!!!
Steal blogs? Theft is when you obtain something and keep it for yourself, not boldly announcing the fact that it’s stolen!
May I politely suggest that until you have something constructive to say, and have been a Wolves fan for as long as I have, and been to as many games, and spent as much money, all of which gives me as much right as anyone to espouse my opinions, that you shut the fuck up, and preferably go watch some Norwegian football.
If you want a war of words, bring it on, I will smother you in a plethora of lexiconable verbage.
FOWB
Clive you are a scumbag and you know it! You dont know a didle about Norwegian football and you havent heard of Solbakken in the first place.
People like you, you Prick- is the one hwo thinks they know everthing of the gaem, but just goes to games because their mates does! Grow up you silly twhat!
Yoy dont have any chance to win any war of words against me anyway so you keep it closed!!
Clive, you are a Clown!
Norwegian Football?
Now there’s an oxymoron if I ever saw one!
Kind of like Army Intelligence, or Scottish goalkeepers.
I don’t have any mates, they all emigrated to Norway.
I don’t think I know everything about the game, I KNOW I know!!
I do not want to grow up, adults are boring, I want to stay the child I’ve been for the last 61 years.
Y’all have a nice day now.
Signed, Clive the clownish scumbaggy plick!! ( chinese)
Oh dear oh dear- You realy dont get it Clive. Poor bastard!
Very sad to see that Wolves- MY club as much as yours, have people like you hanging around.
Dont waste my time on a idiot like you….
But you are……………….
hey! vargus the great cant dis Clive!! hes our leader..
I’m confused as to why he was having a go at clive in the first place? Severe Miscommunication?
Give the manager a chance, we haven’t seen him fully take charge yet. IF Morgan backs him with funds he can bring players which he feels that are needed. The replacing those who will leave is a key priority, as well is sorting our leaky defence.
COYW!
Guys……let’s stop all the in fighting and look forward to a Fantastic seasoning ahead….its nice to have views that are sometimes opposing, its good for the hormones……but like great supporters let’s all channel our energy in the same direction……all aboard for a crazy ride…..together…..WWFC forever.
Totally with you on that mate. I LOVE the banter, but let us all keep it as that – just banter. We all have our own personal views, which is correct, but let us not fight between ourselves. I am looking forward to the new season. Unfortunately because of my job and my location (I know I am only 3 hrs up the road), I cannot justify a season ticket but join the TPS. I think our season will be a good one, and my 3 hr journey back home after a game at the Mol might even see me smiling at times. UTW
It’s great to see positive steps being made…after the abortion that was last season it is good to have something to hope for.
Next let’s hope we can hold on to some of our better players!
Yeah it’s been an amazing turn around Ben. Suddenly the future looks bright, the future is orange; i mean old gold.
Before i was thinking another game, another defeat, same old shit; what’s the point. Now i’m genuinely excited by it all.
Irrespective of whether SS suceeds, i think it’s an intelligent and thoughtful appointment. Looks like there has been a complete rethink at the club what with the proposed director of football and so on. They seem to have been shaken from that awful lethargy and self satisfaction under the McCarthy regime. I do believe they have heard and listened at last to the huge amount of dissatisfaction voiced by fans on this and other sites and by the drop in income from ticket sales and so forth.( Not morons by yhe way, just genuine fans who have a brain and an opinion).
No one can predict how good the team will be but i, for one, can’t wait for the season to start.
Very sensible move to extend the Early Bird offer. I’ve just read on the Guardian that Albion are reducing all adult season ticket prices by £50 this year. I’m reluctantly impressed, though I suppose it must reflect a lack of demand to some extent.
Can someone explain to me what exactly a Director of Football does ? Is it just a posh name for a chief scout ?
A Director of Football is in charge of the strategic thinking of a Football Club and has responsibility for finding and signing new players, leaving the manager to concentrate on on-field tactics and coaching.
I think you’ll find that a chief scout wears a woggle and goes “Dib dib dib”.
Isn’t it great to be in a position where you have a new manager in place and are looking forward positively to the coming season – particularly when you see what a mess some other clubs are getting into trying to replace theirs. Do you think Liverpool and Villa asked Mr Moxey for advice on how it should be done?
To all you greasel lovers out there, lovingly ripping apart the wiser souls who kept their money in their pockets until they saw which way the Molineux winds were blowing, I ask the following:
If your beloved greasel, moxey, is so good, why, like other football club assets, has he not be snatched away by one of the “bigger” clubs?
If he is so brilliant, why has he not gone looking for further fame, glory and bonuses?
Simple.
He’s a coniving, lying, spinning, arse licking slimeball, and has been seen through by more savvy football authorities than Morgan.
That man is STILL a cancer at our beloved club, and always will be as long as he darkens the corridors of the Golden Palace.
How quickly the anger, hatred and vitriol directed his way has been conveniently swept under the carpet by those of you with very short memories.
As to our new manager, There is nothing more I would love to see, than the streets of Wolverhampton awash in old gold and black scarves, banners and shirts celebrating a title winning season.
No matter what he does in the off season, we have to be patient, and see how his team selection, tactics and performances pan out over the course of the year, and get behind him 100%.
Let’s hope he is the new broom we’ve been desperately needing for so long.
On a side note, I met a really nice German bloke yesterday, from Bavaria, …………and took great pleasure in discussing the finer points of victorious English football in Munich recently!!
FOWB
Just read that Villa are releasing, amongst others, big Emile Heskey – I personally think we’d be a great place for him to prolong his career by a year or two.
1. He has vast experience.
2. He’s well known to be a nice bloke and team player.
3. He gives us the option of fielding a big target man who can help create goals for a strike partner (like big Chris Iwelumo did to such great effect last time round in the Championship).
He might be good for a couple of goals, but he is a blundering carthorse most of the time, and the club’s money would be better spent elsewhere.
It would be a retrograde step to sign him. We need players who are hungry, nay starved, for success, and who can step up to Premiership and Champions League level after a victorious Championship winning season!!!
If Chelsea can win it, then we’ll have no problem.
Have you guys seen the montages of that classless buffoon, John Terry morphed on to other famous pix?
Look at Electronic Telegraph, it’s brill!
FOWB
i still say we need to bring the youth through with a few decent experienced players through the spine and a BETTER defence….just look at davies and how hungry he is…thats what i would love to see more of then we wouldnt have to rely on spending way over the odds for crap players like donkey johnson
You surprise me Clive, I had you down as a daily mail reader. Telegraph is bad enough mind.
I only log on to look at the pix!
I used to get it just for the crosswords, but the bastards started charging for them, and I can’t be arsed to change.
Reasonable footie coverage, and Formula One, but I prefer Sky Sports Live for up to date commentary. Guess I won’t be getting that very well for the next 12 months now!!
FOJM
Clive doesn’t need to read it anymore, he knows it all by heart.
Good blog Ben.
We all seem agreed that Staale is at least an interesting appointment.
I personally think he is an excellent one and am seriously thinking of a bet on us winning the championship next season.
There is an old Buddhist tale about how what appears to be terrible luck, at one moment in time, later can appear to be very good luck. This might be the case with the debacle last season that saw the end of MM & finally TC.
As other’s point out this is Morgan’s first real appointment at the club and it’s a shrewd one. I do not think he would have made it without having an idea of a new ‘structure’ that will not include Moxey.
Let’s not forget we do not know what sort of contract someone like Moxey has with the club, a contract made with Sir Jack not Morgan.
Am looking forward to the Staale influence beginning……
I’m going to ignore some of the downright insulting views from much earlier best to say Clive summed it up perfectly.
Stalle in my view and from talking to people who have supported his team will build a good team. However at Copenhagen he built about 4 teams as he was forced to sell his best players. He is adept at working with a boss who was very Corrporate and not that interested in the team, until the chance came to move up a tier.
Think we shouldn’t get carried away-like all supporters I would love to see Wolves return to the top table and compete with the best. This will take time.
We all don’t know who will depart and what sort of budget he has got.
While we all scoff at being ‘a well run club’ and ‘investment in infra-structure’ our odds for a quick return to the premier league are shorter than Blackburns or Bolton.
All i am asking is Moron show me some respect and let me run the club even if it means throwing shed loads of money at other clubs for shite like J*****n.
My mate a Villa fan had 2 wishes for the end of season, and they have both come good. Firstly Mcleish had to go, and he has, and secondly that lumbering carthorse Heskey to be released at the end of his contract.
Mcleish is probably gone golfing with his mate Mad Mick, and comparing notes who was the worst manager. Close call for me, but MM takes it with his second in command making sure WWFC were relegated before the season end.
i`ve been looking at the UEFA coaching manuals that MM read to get the badge, yet couldn`t find the chapter about “following a kick off – pass back to the goalkeeper, to launch upfield, to a non existant target man”, a system that failed for our team, MM must have had the manual with the pass and move chapter missing during his tenure at Molineux.
And in response to those who believe renewing their early bird on the first offer makes them a better supporter, or their views take precedence, and that everything in the golden palace was perfect and didn`t deserve criticsm of the club management or the football side, and that last season wasa great success and that nothing should change, please remove your head from up your arses and reflect.
It wasn`t the fans who sacked MM, it was the owner
It wasn`t the fans who got the club relegated
The second early bird offer is an admission of failure that the business on and off the pitch last year was also a failure. The pace of change has probably been accelerated by the large number of fans who didn`t renew, despite Moxey`s attempt to sell the benefits of a championship season ticket.
Enjoy every opinion on this marvellous blog, times they are a changing.
Just stole this (unashamedly! ) from a blog elsewhere in the world.
It was referring to Thuggy Barton, but could be used for anyone who is a moron, so in this case I’ll nominate Roger Johnson.
It appears the fire brigade were called out last night to his mansion as a fire had broken out in his library.
Unfortuneately, both his books were destroyed, and the real pity was that one of them hadn’t even been coloured in yet.
The managerial saga at Liverpool is getting funnier and funnier, now AVB is out of the running.
Glen Johnson seems to be out of the England squad for the upcoming friendly, with an infected toe.
What’s the problem, he’s got nine others?
I’m already missing the footie, roll on next season.
Meeting up with Paul Lappage from Rosenberg, Texas tonight for a few bevvies in The Richmond Arms, Houston. Any Wolves fans in Houston fancy joining us, we’ll be there about 7.00pm. Wear a Wolves top !!
FOWB
try to get pissed and get up on a STRONG table and drunkenly sing him the liquidator.. and can you video it please cos there is nothing on the telly ! cheers clive x
Why does it need to be a strong table?
Are you incineratin’ I gotta weight problem?
just you got heavy legs clive….AND a big purse
He’ll never remember the words! Does a mean Goodbye Horse though!
whats a goodbye horse? i bet im the only one on this blog that doesnt know aint i?
It was a song we singed in the North Bank in the seventies.
It usually broke out when the match was boring, so we sung it a lot!!
It went ” Good Bye Horse, good bye horse, he was saying good bye to his horse, and as he was saying good bye to his horse he was saying goodbye to his horse.”
Totally nonsensical, and this went on for several minutes.
Not every match, but most.
There were variations on the words, such as “Intercourse, intercourse, he was having it off with his horse, and as he was having off with his horse, he was having a great intercourse”
I don’t know what the tune was, or what other song i can refer you to, but we all sang it, in those days the choir was only in the North Bank, and I bet there are loads of you out there who can shed some more light onto it.
There was also an excellent article on the very same subject some years ago in A Load of Bull, that beloved publication.
Those of you who happen to keep back copies might look it up and post it on here.
I met a fellow Wolves nut, Paul Lappage, in The Richmond Arms in Houston last night. We had a very pleasant evening, talking all things Wolves, and an excellent steak and mushroom pie and chips, and good English beer.
Almost made me want to come back to ‘Hampton.
Almost.

If my memory serves me correctly Clive Goodbye Horse was sung to the tune of bless em all, the long and the short and the tall
YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!!!
You are correct sir.
Thanks a bunch.
Been bugging me for years.
not just a great blogging site but truly a great historical society! can it get any better.!… unfortunately i only did one game at the beautiful mol mk 1 in the seventies as my parents stupidly moved to eltham se london near charlton….there beckoned a few away games only for a long time..then a wolves nut barry baker london wolves moved opposite and here we go again..thanks baz!!

I like this… I wish I had one of those seats last season…
If we buy him it will show Staale influence and Morgan backing him!
Let’s hope it works out.
nooooo should have supplied seats outside the ground and i reckon THEY would have sold out first! fingers crossed for next season – nervously optomistic but hugely realistic…..thats me sat outside then!
What I find interesting is that the Wolves spokesman was Matt Grayson, not greasel.
On his way out…..pleeeeez??!!
“We are in reflective mode” says Grayson…..
Hopefully they are reflecting on Moxey’s P45
and his bloody huge pension pot!!!!!!!!!! gives me a real warm glow knowing we are ever increasing his enjoyable retirement to planet shiny fat head!! bless!
