You’ll forgive me if I keep this brief.
I’m drifting somewhere between Christmas pudding and the Quality Streets and my mind isn’t fully able to comprehend another game of football.
Anyway…
In season’s gone by I would have called this a difficult fixture given the opposition, the unique atmosphere of The Den and a couple of former Wolves boys desperate to spoil our turkey sandwiches.
But the juggernaut shows fews signs of stopping and truth be told, I fancy us to win again.
Millwall
All six of Millwall’s league wins have come at home so maybe there should be greater trepidation?
They got taken apart by Derby last time out to make it 12 away games without a victory. That’s something they’ll have to address to avoid being sucked back towards the bottom three.
But sitting seven points above the drop zone with what looks to me like a well formed team, I don’t think Neil Harris will have much trouble keeping them up.
Perhaps they don’t have the names of some of the top half clubs, but they appear to have a togetherness and a clear way of playing.
George Saville is having a great time back in London and has netted 7 goals already. Jed Wallace has got 4 himself, so it’s likely those familiar faces will be the ones to cause Wolves pain if the game doesn’t go to plan.
Wolves
To rotate or not to rotate? That is the question. I’d consider one change.

I thought Costa looked more up for it against Ipswich and with Bonatini a few per cent off his usual standard, I wouldn’t mind a revised front three.
Not many people are championing Bright but I still think his all round game is good enough that he could be used more often. OK, he can’t finish for toffee, but he’s doing better at releasing the ball and his strength back to goal is incredible. He could lead the line and even if he didn’t score, his presence alone could open doors for Jota and Cav.
N’Diaye is another I’m never disappointed to see in the side, particularly in difficult away matches. Tough to drop Saiss or Neves but I’m just thinking with one eye on Bristol.
Knowing Nuno we’ll see the same XI for the next two games and everyone will wonder what the fuss was about. It’s nice not to be particularly bothered either way.
Predictions
Until they give me a reason not to predict a win, I will continue to predict a win. We’re better on paper and in reality than most teams so you can only reach one logical conclusion.
I suppose the only game where we’ve been well beaten was Sheffield United and that stemmed from the home side coming out fast and getting on top of us. Millwall are capable of the same.
But I think Wolves are more streetwise now than they were back then and will once again manage the occasion.
2-0.
Up The Wolves!

I have a nightmare for some reason and that Saville is capable of breaking someone’s leg in this match he’s a dirty B when he’s out played so the thought worries me.
Any way to form we should also win this and once ahead we have proved that we can hold the lead so I’m predicting 2-0 here..
Costa first half Bonatini 2nd …its Neves I worry about as his legs are made of gold to me..What a player..
I’d really love to go to this match but I wouldn’t relish the company of all those lunatics who as John Cleese said once
I’m a bit on edge…They certainly will be when we take the piss..
COYW
The transfer window is soon open once again and we’re already linked with Rafa Silva, a potential big signing, which would add even more creativity to the squad. Saiss has been a rumored target for Liverpool. IF they are gonna have a chance, they would probably have to mount a bid at least five times bigger than the sum we bought him for.
I don’t know if Saiss is interested in going anywhere.
Am going to the game so both hoping to see a win and to get there and back in one piece .The lack of trains does not help but I am hoping Uber will help me ! Would actually like to see a couple of changes to freshen things up but suspect I will need to wait for Swansea .
Can’t resist mentioning that my girl made a small woolen glove with a picture of Nuno on it and put it on top of our Christmas tree .No greater love hath a girl than that surely 🙂
1st April 1967, my first visit to Millwall v Wolves. We were on our way to promotion under Ronnie Allen and Millwall were unbeaten at home for something like 2 years or something ridiculous like that. Len Julians, their burly striker, put Millwall ahead early in the second half before Dave Wagstaffe’s penalty was saved by the even burlier Millwall keeper Lawrie Leslie with a quarter of an hour to go. We were saved were Derek Dougan scored a 90th minute equaliser before being attacked by an irate Millwall fan who ran onto the pitch.
I was actually born about half a mile from the old Den so by right s I should be a Millwall fan.
A hard fought draw I think.,
A very Merry Christmas to everyone on this blog from me and Sue in a very sunny Newark on Trent today. Really enjoyed your company this season and we are looking forward to Swansea, the shit and Barnsley in January. Enjoy the rest of your day folks and see many of you soon. And don’t forget, this IS the year.
Can’t see any reason we shouldn’t keep on with the winning run. If he plays, Bonatini treble.
Exhibition match and methodical demolition of cockney twats !
Another 3 points thank you. Run the turkey and Christmas pud off? Probably don’t get a sniff of such luxuries these days. Really feel that the end of year matches will go the way of our recent ones. Can’t remember who recently said that we would have a lead of 10 points by May; looks very much like it could be by January.
Hard to see any team scoring against Wolves and am expecting Wolves to return to goal scoring form.
Wolves in the Lion’s den..very apt. Can’t help but fancy another win and clean sheet. Bonatini definitely looking a little jaded to me, so a chance for Bright. As others have said he needs to prove himself or a loan away to get some match experience. Onwards and upwards, sorry still Can’t can we so I’ll settle for sideways.
Happy christmas and a great new year as well to all bloggers and readers.
A steady win tommorow , stay safe and have a great day all you who are going to the Den.
I’ve been a bit negative for this sort of game in recent weeks but playing with so much control I have to go for a win.UTW
As Shakin’ Stephens said, “Merry Christmas Everyone”.
Too much to eat and drink and several hours still to go – Lovely Jubbely.
Defence remains key and then we can keep notching up the 1-0’s. Like arsenal of the olden days.
Hope we get them at home next Christmas
Lots to look
Forward to…
Mmmmm Millwall – useless away record – better homerecord.
Ex Wolves in their midst thirsting to stick one over on us.
Everyone wants to “stick one over” the league leaders.
Looks really tricky for me.
Thinking this one through very deeply.
Mashing my grey mattter until it spews out a prediction on a truly difficult game.
Mmmmmmm
Wolves 4
Millwall 0
Lions devoured by Wolves.
Hard fought away win
Hope everyone hasn’t imbibed so much they’re too asleep to make a prediction!
Agreed Telford.
Leo to score if selected.
COMBs! ?
Spending Christmas Day with my lovely mum and favourite ma-in law.
It’s gone six pm and I am just sampling my first drop of alcohol of the day.
Is this a record I hear you ask?
No, it’s a travesty!
Back to things football.
Wolves should be too strong for the Lions tomorrow. Although it could be a close run thing.
U.T.W. D.T.L. F.O.W.B. O.O.D.C.L. H.C.T.A.B.
I’m rubbish at working out abbreviations DG. Help me out.
Down the Lions. Happy Christmas to all bloggers. I suspect you know the rest.
By the way, what’s DG?
Dirty Git ??? Your still up ! Happy Boxing Day.
Times are a changing……good away win!
Merry Christmas to all from Southern California. Thanks to Ben, Thomas and Rasmin for all your contributions throughout the year … special best wishes to the three of you and your families. The Wolves renaissance continues. This is the season of dreams.
Go Wolves!
Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to all WWFC supporters.
I was undecided which bubble would burst first, WWFC or my bitcoin collection, it now looks like the latter with the former going on and on and on.
Merry Christmas to everyone. No better present than this wolves season however.
Hmmmmmmmmmm. Not sure, but am going for:
Take the fall..Millwall…keep the away winning run and clean sheets going………..
Another clean sheet, another 3 points.
Seasons Greetings to all.
I foolishly predicted a draw against Ipswich, oh I of little faith. We will slip up sooner or later, who knows when that will be. Millwall, like their fans are a bunch of thugs, class will shine through. ……..I hope.
Iv’e got to say, Millwall has a decent away record and a fairly good home record, but who against I ask you. Tomorrow me and Jen de Wollf will be at the Den sticking it up those feckin Gobshites. I watched the dickheads performing in the stand off to our right last year, they are absolute feckin cretenous morons. Salivating and eyes popping at everything that drew breath, they are 100 years behind the rest of the planet, they need a feckin good talking to, I have just the team to do it too.
For me, I can’t see them getting past our defence, not Saville or Wallace that’s for feckin sure. So easy peasey for me.
Wolves 4-0 Millwall troglodites.
Wolves 10 points clear before the 3pm kick offs tomorrow, come and feckin catch us the rest of you.
Come on me Dahhhhling Bambinos.
Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to see The Wanderers win away
LADS!
Wholehearted thanks to Ben, Thomas and Rasmin for their sterling work over the year. Have a great Christmas and New Year guys. And while I’m at it, the same to the rest of you all and all Wolves fans wherever y’all may be.
As for the game, I don’t foresee many changes in line-up. Nuno doesn’t seem keen to meddle with his winning formula. Millwall will provide a stern test, but we’ve faced down a lot of stern tests this season and generally come out smelling of roses. So, the sweet smell of three points will keep our nostrils twitching this Boxing Day and we’ll move on to Ashton Gate for the even sterner test to come.
Think their defence has too many mistakes in it to stop us and not enough guile to unlock us. Like a few have mentioned I would like Bright, Helda and Alfred to get some more game time. Fair play to Nuno though he’s certainly justified his consistent starting selections.
Evening all. Hope you are well. I have been on the pop since 2 this afternoon and still going. Four straight clean sheets. Law of averages says we will concede a goal sooner or later and it could be the case tomorrow. A tough assignment. Could be a draw. I will be taken 4 points from Millwall brizzle. In whatever order. Well done to all those making the trip. Not the best boxing day fixture is it. I am going 1-1.
On paper it looks a toughie .. but on the pitch I just can’t see how Millwall can either keeps us out or breech our defence.
We’ve got, by far more Technically gifted players and provided we return the attrition that will undoubtedly come at us ..then we’ll be in good shape. (Keeping 11 on the pitch of course… although I get the feeling Millwall will lose a player)
Bonatini and Costa to score.
No need for a calculator…. 10 points ahead of 2nd place come 3pm tomorrow afternoon.
Think they will try and play which will be good for us can see us scoring 3 but possibly conceding 1
Well I did finaly get Christmas Day sorted to the right day, but still not used to the fact that here it is spent in bright sunshine and 25c temp. Enough to confuse anyone. We are into Boxing Day here now , recovery time.
Difficult to predict the goals as we do seem to have lost our way a little up front so for me anothe 1-0 win.
We often do better away from home; we’ll know how to deal with Saville and Wallace. I too would like to see a couple of our other lads given a chance to shine, but maybe we will have to wait until Swansea, who I hope we’ll take seriously. A run in the FA Cup would be good for the squad.
Bizzy fixing house.
No time for pontifications
Fuck tge ex players
Wolves 5 them 1
Happy Christmas everybody. The Nuno juggernaut rolls on.
Going to go for a draw here. No particular reason why. Hopefully I will be wrong 🙂
I’ve read all contributions so far and am pleased to read the general positivity with the odd few reservations which I can only, and understandably, put down to previous regimes; let’s face it, the crap we’ve had to endure over the years is not something that fades too quickly.
But I’m not going there.
This defence that Nuno has developed just leaves me awestruck at times. All three of em can not only mix it with the opposition strikers, they can play the ball out from danger, pick a pass and stay in control. Ditto the wing backs, but they’re for another time.
This is why the likes of George saville and Jedward Wallace are gonna need to add to their goal tallys against some other bugger. They ain’t coming through our guys.
So I’m sticking with 2 goals even if we only need the one these days…it’ll give our excellent travelling support an extra chance to go mental in that miserable den of iniquity.
UTW
Good luck to all going to the match … you’re venturing where I’d hesitate to go since getting caught up in a running street battle complete with half bricks flying about after we’d knocked them out of the FA Cup at the Mol. Let’s hope the team coach is armour plated!
I did though like Danny Baker’s story of getting a rattle as a young Millwall fan and painstakingly burning into it with a hot poker “Up the Lions”. His older brother waited until he’d finished before pointing out that he’s actually burned in “Up the Loins”
So here we go again …. in common with most others I can see no reason to predict anything but a win ….it would be nice to go through December without conceding, so in hope I’m going for 2-0.
We are due an inexplicable ref’s decision – unearned penalty or stupid red card – costing us some points.
A Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy 2018 to all Wolves Blog Admin and bloggers from sunny Melbourne in Oz. This fixture should show the world the depth of the Wolves squad. Nuno has the luxury of bringing in fresh legs and still retain a top quality team. I believe this could be a good time to rest up some of our stars for the harder match at BC. Still too good for Millwall so going for a win (and a clean sheet to boot).
Happy Christmas to one and all. That’s all I think we will score tomorrow. Early kickoff will count against us with travel time. The ex-Wolves player hoodo might come back to haunt us, but maybe that’s the ghost of Christmas past? Fingers crossed, a tight win at best tomorrow. 1-0.
Too later to go into indepth analysis fancy a draw
Great to read all the mostly positive posts. COYW.
Cricket is fucked up already. Like me. Listening to 1977 punk on Absolute radio. How many times can you not fail to be fucking inspired when a classic from the Clash. Damned. Pistols Ramones Undertones Stranglers Comes on (not very often). I might be old and fucked but still fuckin love it and always will. Drunkenly signing off and growing old disgracefully with two fingers against the ARSE holes in this world.!
Another win
Nuno is our saviour
The team are his apostles
We even have a few wise men
Mol is our church
The only carol service I want to here is the south/north and even some times steve bull – stands in fine voice
You just got to love Christmas, but I think New Year, Easter and Whitsun will grow better with each bank hol in 2018
Now to go 10 points clear by 3.00pm on boxing is probs be another record!
So lads go for it – it’ll be worth it.
All that are going to the Den be careful and have a safe & prosperous journey.
We are Wolves…
FOwb
I’d take 1-0, but I think it’ll be a bit like the QPR match and Millwall may edge in front , but Costa to come on and star
We will lose sooner or later of course, but not today folks , get an early goal and it should be fairly routine, save a bit of energy for bcfc
Had plenty of wolfs shaking my hand today at the mcg , made up for the cricket boredom
Utw
going with my usual prediction here. merry christmas from sunny Phuket bloggers one and all! Im finally on vacation!
Anyone know why it’s a 1pm kick off?, Doesn’t look like it’s on TV.
My understanding is it’s at the insistence of the met. Lots of games on in The Smoke today.
Well if the best they have is Wallace and Saville ?
Redrow signs – DOWN or painted over
Money Shop – OUT as soon as possible
Liquidator – Back
Another 1-0 for me. Seeing Nuno’s reaction to the final whistle on Saturday was priceless.
Merry Christmas to you all,
Another straight forward win methinks
Two more players that were poor under previous managers now doing much better. Hey, Saville is even an international! A recurring theme it seems.
We should win. Maybe even increase our lead at the top. Eager to see who comes in January window.
Last season seems so long ago.. Yet still get nightmares.
Merry Christmas !
Millwall will be hard to beat, but I like a challenge.
I keep predicting that we’ll get 2 or 3 goals & we get 1! So I’ll predict 1-0 in the hope that we get 2 or 3 – sounds logical to me.
COYW
I have got such a bad hangover
What’s a hangover Matt? A fat lady sat on a small stool maybe ??
Can’t see why we can’t continue with our winning ways,I know millwall can be a intimidating place to play at anytime but I’m sure we have enough quality to add to our points tally to keep the juggernaut at full speed into the Newyear.UTW
a win possibly Wolves 2 Millwall 1
it’s 4.30 in the morning, I just paid me fiver, and I cor wait!
Second coffee on the way, bacon and eggs at half time, and three more points in the bag at full time.
Life is good!
Unless you are a shit fan.

Bucks Fizz for breakfast Clive or are you still Making Your Mind Up? I hope the house is coming together nicely.
Old wolves in lions clothing against new Wolves’ Portuguese men o war. No hope.
2-0
On our way to the Championship record points.
The pessimist in me says this will still be a tough game, so I’ll go for a draw. However, I loved seeing Jota and Cav both tracking back in the Ipswich game, winning the ball back and setting off back towards the Ipswich half. Hopefully they don’t get kicked off the pitch at The Den.
Good morning one and all and Merry Christmas.
It’s nice to know that whatever happens Wolves will finish the year top of the table. That said, I can’t see Nuno taking his foot off the pedal; so on we go.
A routine win for me with a couple of tweaks in the lineup. I’d certainly like to see N’Diaye come in to add a bit of steel.
Lets be controversial on Boxing Day, if Liverpool came in for Saiss I`d sell him. Point is though how the hell would Saiss keep up with the Liverpool attackers, he has nowhere near the pace or mobility to do so. Saiss was here before Nuno, and if we do sign a much vaunted £15 Portugese mifielder, he`d probably get left out anyway. Just passing well and from deeper and deeper isn`t enough where we are going to play next year, need pace and movement as well.
As for today, well Saville is a donkey and a pedestrian one at that, Wallace may be more of a threat, but can`t see that against our defence.
I agree with those who say Millwall will want to play, but its another 1-0 win for me, with Ruddy having at least one save to make.
Ex-Wolves players not to score, another clean sheet ans plenty of away goals.
It’s difficult at the minute to see the opposition scoring against us let alone winning. I can’t remember the last time we were this organised at the back. on that basis I’ll think another one nil win will bring us some more Xmas cheer
Halfway through and what an incredible first half it’s been. I think the second half of the season will be tougher and the team to watch out for will be Derby. Usually 90-95 points will get promotion so that’s only another 40 points to get or 45 to be on the safe side so 12 wins and 8 draws should do it. With the way we’re playing that is easily achievable. Only a Devon Loch style disaster will stop us now I think.
Two tricky away matches coming up and including the home match with Brentford I would gladly take 5 or 6 points from these three games. Anything more is a Brucie bonus.
Safe journey to all who are travelling today.
Hope everyone had a Great Christmas.
A win at Millwall will be a great way to carry on the festive period. I think Millwall will be bang up for it so a draw here and a win at Bristol will be fine.
Let’s keep rolling on.

Why is commentary for overseas subscribers only today?
I think this is a Wolves admin boob. Frustrating (as is the current score).
It’s live on Talk Sport radio http://talksport.com/radioplayer/live/talksport2.html?popup=1
2-2….so what’s all that about then?
It’s strange when we don’t win, isn’t it?
Sounds like we had a bit of a knob refereeing (for a change) but it’s Cav and Wily being withdrawn that concerns me, we’ve been leading a charmed existence this season injury-wise and I’d rather it stayed that way.
Cardiff have just conceded so that’s good.
Hopefully we can reply to this setback the way we have all season.
UTW
A point away to Millwall. I will have some of that all day long.
Will be interested in Boly and Cav’s withdrawal. Hope they are not long term injuries.
Absolutely no complaints at all, two good sides slugging it out taking no prisoners and taking it to the opposition. If Costa, Siass and Doherty had had their shooting boots on we would have had more. But not to be today, luckily all the teams around us struggled too, with the exception of Brizzle.
It’s going to be a humdinger on Saturday and I do think we will come out on top, which would leave us 11 points clear of Brizzle, with us hoping Cardiff and Derby can continue their slump. It’s ours to lose and we have to focus on our own performances.
But, guys and girls a goood performance and no complaints.
On a seperate issue.
Anyone see the picture of the Cardiff team coach coming away from Bolton. Some little wag had only gone and spray painted. SHEEP SHAGGES all over the front window and body, they had to drive back home like that. There are some naughty boys about.
Nuno says, “ Boly and Cav are not serious” Tim Spiers reckons, “they were walking ok at the final whistle”.
A point gained is a fair assessment of today.
You little rascals, straight to bed..
Stu,
I believed you to be a fair man & have to say I think those Bolton boys are being a little castigated when I check the evidence!
1) I guess there is no video of any perpetrators being caught in the act
2) the coach doesn’t seem to have any sign-writing informing the Colin Wanker followers which is their coach
3) maybe the team coach was the same colour as the supporters coach & therefore would need identification
Therefore I put it to you that this could have been the Welshies themselves!
In fact they do have their own song don’t they:
Sheep Shaggin Bathtubs, you know what you are!
Lmfro
Come to think about it, they had got turned over by said Bolton team, so maybe they did it for the sympathy card.
At the end of the day not a bad weekend. Cardiff stuffed and Bristol still 8 points adrift. No complaints.
Personally I would take a draw at Bristol and move on to Brentford next Tuesday.
Onwards & Upwards
Predicted a draw and happy with it. We will beat Brizzle. No fucking worries.
Great point. Well done lads. Well done Nuno. 4 points from last two games and 4 from our next two will be perfick by me.
Meanwhile Sandwell’s ‘revival’ continues a pace under Pardew. No wins from six games, one goal scored. When he was appointed they were 17th and one point above the drop zone. Now they are 19th and three points from safety.
In other news a Middlesbrough mate of mine has been on hold to the Samaritans for the past 4 hours.
OODCL
I hope big Wily hasnt gone limp.
I watched most of the game, once the video feed came on, and for once I wished we had gone up through the gears, instead of trying to coast in automatic.
Quite a few lazy and/ or misplaced passes, and I feel Miranda is a liability, and a disaster waiting to happen.
However, they were full of the turkey jollies, and up for turning us over, which they didnt, so a point away from home is as good as Fulham’s three away in wernockshire!!
And lovely to see the shit left their scoring boots in the changing room, as per usual!
FOwb
I think Miranda might be gone in the summer.
Her Xmas special was quite good though ….
just read on Molinuex Mix about racist abuse of our black players and Saiss at Millwall. 2018 and the Nazi idiots are still amongst us. I despair. I really do.
17 points in front of the super vile !
Courtney Hause not DB to replace Miranda if Boly is crocked…Is Boly the most important player of the year?
As soon as he’s off we concede..
Well played Fulham..
