Thanks for all your help, Mick.
You took us as far as you were able.
Who now??
I’ve heard Redknapp is looking to move jobs? Capello?
Hi all….
it’s going to be Rafa Benitez!
I said this yesterday!
I think they’ll go with Bruce, or maybe Warnock, but even of by some minor miracle a bit of motivation works enough to compensate for a lack of class, we’ll find ourselves in a similar situation next season without sufficient backing from the other Ms.
If they want the club in the PL they should get they cash out, Ancelotti is still on the market isn’t he, or maybe Rogers?
A dead Parrot would be an improvement.
Jez Moxey has more to answer for than anyone, especially our best and most successful manager in a generation. Ok so we’ve had a poor season, is that any surprise when SM & JM don’t give Mick the backing to sign big players that we need, instead we’re left with a defense that would struggle against a conference team. Instead of building a new stand at a cost of god knows what, why not build up a team that is ‘stable’ in the premier league, and then start expanding Jez’s money making empire. The guy is a clown, Wolves needs to be run as a football team first, not a way to make a few quid. The turnover of £60m will be a great help in the Championship… Best of luck Mick, you’re better off away from the jokers on the board at molineux
It was the right decision. But I still feel down. He was the most successful manager we’ve had in a long time, longer than I’ve been watching. It’s a shame, he will always be Mick the magician but he just ran out of tricks and luck.
Thanks Mick and best of luck in the future.
Now for Curbishley.
Sheffield I fully endorse your comments. Good luck Mick
Look, in all honesty we need a manager, and a new back 4… berra and ward have improved, but are still not good enough. rj a waste of money, sell him to help bankroll our new defence !
the sooner fletch and co can stop having to help out defending, the sooner they can get up the other end and score. jarvis, fletch doyle, even hammil and kightly, are all very goor attacking players.
I agree with this. Whoever comes in, surely the priority has to be to stop leaking goals and overhaul our defence. How easy is this going to be now the window is shut though? Can we just play nine at the back with Fletch up front? I’d still back him to nick a couple of goals here and there.
Totally agree. I am interested who we get. SM and JM MUST however finance the new guy or we will be in the same position – that is no money being released to buy “quality” players.
I’m of two minds. Mick has done a fantastic job last few seasons, but this season has been an absolute disaster. I just hope we get someone who can keep us up… Grayson? Warnock – I hope not? Bruce – maybe? It’s not a promising field. Capello?
The sackings shouldn’t end here.
Moxey is even more culpable than Mick!
He’s the one who instigates the
Young and Hungry ethic .. might work in the Championship but NOT in the Premiership!
Buy players from Cash strapped clubs .. Don’t cost much but never get to play for us .. Mouyokolo, Jonsson, Surman
Buy players from the lower divisions .. again most never play .. eventually to get loaned out
NO .. I do feel sorry for Mick coz he can only strengthen on how much he’s given.. and if they get injured like Bassong and Frimpong .. Oh Shit!
The FAT CONTROLLER MOXEY is the slug I want OUT. Ask ANY STOKE CITY fan !
He is the other reason this has all gone tits up.
A new manager will only succeed if they haven’t got their hands tied behind their back from that meddling prat. He must think he is Bomb Proof .. “nothing to do with the team side of things” and only ever does what the owner says. In other words it’s never my Fault.
I bet he’s sitting smug now thinking the worst is over .. I for one hope he gets his come uppance one day.
(Just to share the arrogance of the man .. he recently said to a non footballing friend of mine whilst having a conversation with him … DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM !!)
How up your own back passage is that. GET RID
I’m not too sure this is the right decision. Yes, a bad result over the weekend but things could have got better. The fact that the Chairman steams into the team on a recent performance undermines the manager.
Mick McCarthy has been there for Wolves in the past but you could tell from his expression post match interview yesterday that he felt his time was up.
Will changing the manager really effect Wolves season? There will not be a Martin O’Neill effect in the coming months.
I said he would go after the Al**on game! Thanks for the memories…but it was glaringly obvious time was up!
Curbs in please!
Nobody feels good about someone losing their job but at the end of the day, if you’re unsatisfactory you have to go. He’s done well to hang on as long as he has.
Put it this way. How many premiership clubs will looking to employ him? A very round number in my opinion.
There will be a few in the changing room as well, championship quality players at best, who will know the gravty train just left town.
Well, I hope that this is a silver lining to the current cloud. Please let’s get a manager who plays players in their strongest positions and encourages them to pass the ball and move. The team my dad took me to see in the early 70s when I was a nipper are still in my mind. Let’s have some proper football from our beloved team for the rest of the season at least (however it all ends …)
Just so sad it come to this. Numb. I wish Mick well and thank him for what he has done. The club need to move on, think where we want to be and how to get there
I’ve never known watching Wolves to keep me awake at night but after spending hours pondering what happened yesterday afternoon, I guess the inevitable has happened. We can only hope that the local derby ends up being viewed as a ‘cloud with a silver lining’ and things start to improve immediately. One thing that did bring a smile to my face at about 4a.m. this morning was contemplating Moxey’s brilliant idea to launch the ‘Early Bird Season ticket scheme” the day after the WBA match; I for one will not be spending any more hard earned cash on WW until things get sorted. Left for work this morning without my WW jacket on for the first time ever!
Why wait till February to sack your manager? The transfer window in Jan has closed (which means the new manager has very little opportunity to affect things)… the team has gone up and down 2-3 places (as happened in previous seasons) in the past few weeks but need stability… Is sacking the manager creating that stability?
If someone made the right decision, Mick should have gone in December, otherwise stick to what you’ve got, invest in time and people and maybe things will work out.
Sad day but a definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a difference result…. Which, with hindsight (or Clivesight) has probably gone on too long.
I’ve got a sneeky feeling about Greame Souness.
He was linked with the take over with Brian Kennedy prior to the Morgan deal….Linked with Liverpool….
Souness. Absolutely no!!!!
it’s extremely sad, I love Mick to bits but simply, he had to go.
I’ m extremely grateful for what he’s done. he didn’t just get us into the PL and keep us there, he gave us our club back after Hoddle tried to destroy it.
Curbs is interested. Fingers crossed. I’m all for giving MM his dues on past merits but since we came up we have gone backwards. Lowest prem win record by a manager. He had more time and money than at Sunderland and he still messed around with it. Jarvis cm, Doyle mr, ward st, elokobi – anywhere? Madness. Not sorry he has gone. Hopefully new manager brings his own backroom staff and gets shot of clipboard.
I’m sooooooooo happy, should have gone ages ago.
Well, he’ll get no sympathy from me.
He was out of his depth the minute we got in the Prem, lost me forever when we went to Old Trafford and didn’t go for the jugular when they were in a bad patch of form, and since then I have led a one man campaign to get rid, and finally, far too late, he’s gone.
The depths we have sunk to under his mismanagement are unbelievable, and it will take a superhuman effort to recover enough to stay up.
I have no particular person in mind to replace him, but whoever we get, must be able to do a better job, and needs all of our support.
Unfortuneately, the cancer that is moxey has still not yet been eradicated from our club, and until it has been, we are on a course of destruction.
Morgan, get off the piste and open your eyes wider, you will see the whole rotten greaseball weasel who is the long term cause of our problems.
FOJM
Whoever, it’ll be done on the cheap. Wouldn’t be surprised if they stick with the caretaker or maybe bring in Paul Ince for the rest of the campaign
Sad day. He had to go but it feels a little bit like i’m watching a friend’s parents get divorced.

Keep taking those happy pills… That has to be the most depressing blog I’ve read for a while.
Any positive thoughts? “The depths we have sunk to”… We’re in the Premiership…
Happy days!!!
Any positive thoughts?
Well, I’m positive we won’t lose this coming weekend.
I’m positive we’ll be in a relegation struggle for the rest of the season.
I’m positive that until moxey goes we’ll be run as a business, not a football club.
I’m positive I’ll still be getting shit from some on this site in the future. As my wife often tells me, I have no filters.
And, I’m positive that all of us Wolves fans will STILL be Wolves fans until the day we die, whatever happens.
Its been a bot of a roller coaster this season…but we do now have a chance of building on what Mick has achieved at the club…we need to move forward now and act quickly…we have time before the Newcastle game to get an experienced manager in and let him get to know the squad! Curbishley would be an excellent choice to carry on where Mick couldnt quite go….
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11699/7518206/Curbishley-willing-to-talk
I should add a genuine heart felt thank you to Mick…as we wouldnt be a permiership club without him…
When all the hoo-ha dies down one thing will become clear over the next week or so.
Has the timing of Mick’s departure been taken at the right time to allow anyone to come in and save us from relegation?
For me it’s about motivation-players who should have been performing at a higher level need to step up to the mark-maybe the new manager could utilise some of the younger players and also be more tactically astute. Results are all that matter.
It’s all in the mix now.

“i’m positive we’ll be in a relegation struggle for the rest of the season.”. Is that positive?
This blog is about MM getting the sack. Unfortunately, it might not be the best decision. I do agree with you about Moxey.
The right decision has been made. But the alternatives don’t fill me with joy. Is Curbishley our greatest hope? Just as long as it’s not Warnock, Bruce or any other manager that is just like McCarthy. Thanks for the memories.
Roy Keane? Pual Ince? Strackan? AC? Stve Bruce?
The list goes on…..
Was it a month ago that the owner said results had to improve, well clearly they hadn`t even before Sundays debacle.
We may have lanced the boil with sacking MM, but how much damage has he done, which cannot be repaired quickly. The players he has signed, o`Hara, Hunt, Mijas, hardly suitable for the pass and move at pace game most premiership clubs play.
The players he has moved on who are so much better than those he kept, Mark Davies of course, Surman playing superbly for a good Norwich side, sold because he was a better left back than Ward, van Damme, single minded but dubious ability utility defender who told MM a few truths about Ward.
As for Ward – was he even on the pitch on Sunday, lost six or seven headers in a row against Odinwinke, was caught out of position, and WBA let him go forward and forward, as they new he couldn`t get back. Hodgson saw aginst Liverpool he was off the pace, and played on his weakness. Our worst player in a poor side, not his fault, he didn`t pick the team, he shouldn`t be allowed over the halfway line if he ever plays for our first team again. MM`s crap lovechild.
Its sad of course, who can ever forget the promotion campaign, but MM going was inevitable after Sundays result. Onwards and upwards.
A good honest man who arrived at this club with nothing to work with and has left it a thousand times better than he found it. Mick thanks for everything you have done and I am sorry we don’t know the whole story (I am sure we don’t with Mr Teflon Moxley in charge). You have our thanks and respect but the performances in this seasons home games has been unacceptable and at the end you knew it too.
If proof is needed Mr Moxley hasn’t a clue about football it is proven by him putting Terry Connor in charge of the team. This is the same TC who has seen off at least 3 managers whilst Wolves still play with the same lack of imagination and creativity. Who coaches the team? Probably a very nice man but we are talking about a man keeping his job when another loses his and being just as culpable – INTEGRITY – Mick has it in spades whilst others around him appear to have none.
And while we are at it let’s not forget those culpable members of the team – As Steve Kindon often recites from memory the poem ‘The Man in The Glass’ go read it Wolves players as some of you are a disgrace and have contributed to a good man getting the sack.
Our Goalkeeper has the makings of a world class keeper but needs some serious coaching re foot movement and concentration (too often beaten from long range (poor foot movement) and prone to too many schoolboy mistakes. Its no good making 3 world class saves if you are likely to have a catastrophic error every 4th game, this is premier league. Ward heart of a lion but left back positional sense is shocking. Its not his fault as he gives all he has but he is not aware of whats around him as the Peter Crouch goal so aptly demonstrated, far too much space that side. Foley proper right back – jury out as injured most of season.
Centre backs????????????????????????what can you say – as much use as a chocolate fireguard. No pace in midfield and worse still no cohesion or shape – Is it me or are you asking for the sack when you play an out of form forward (Doyle) on the right side of midfield with Edwards (who wouldn’t get in any other premier league side) a half fit O’Hara and an out of form Jarvis against a 5 man midfield. No problem with the forwards both always give everything and yesterday showed touches of a potential lethal partnership with the right team behind them.
Curbishly is the only man for the job, he knows about shape and balance of a football team and his teams play football – one other thing, he actually wants the job.
whilst most of you are saddened of mm demise from our club,i for one am glad he’s gone.
never wanted him in the first place, gotto say that.
He got us up thanks for that, but his style of football or lack of it was never going to do us any
good in the premiership, boring lethargic, boot it up to the forwards football,no pace in our team just put the shift in lads and we’ll be alright thats why where we are at the present in the
bottom three and probably where we’ll stay unless we get in a proper merlin who will get us out of this shite he put us in,what we should be doing is to forget him now he’s history and
hope and pray we get someone who can take us that little bit further from where he left us,and also get rid of clipboard connor who has also have played a large part in our down fall and to some extent mm’s aswell.Regarding that fat Moxey he’s here to stay as long as he keeps the money rolling in he’s safe..I know i sound a heartless bastard but thats the way i feel
I don’t wish him any harm but glad he’s gone.FOTC…KEEP UP THE WOLVES.
Should take a punt on Chris Hughton, don’t think he’s under contract of any sorts at brum
think he would come if asked.FOTC.
Sad day but the right thing, To take what he inherited in 2006 and leave us where we are now is a tremendous achievement, just sad he could’nt take that extra step to mid table. in reality the writing was on the wall last season and with only one major summer signing ( who as not improved on jody ) I could only see another year of struggle. Morgan showed to much loyalty and probably left it to late.
As for the future I’d love to see a move for a younger , modern manager Hughton fits the bill no harm in approaching blues and giving it a try. and if no one is available now give an experienced managerthe rest of the season and review it then.
However it looks like Curbishley is favoured, Hes been out for a while but is probably the safe option , But whoever it is we have to support them bigtime to have any hope of suvival,
