One of the biggest criticisms of Mick McCarthy and his team in recent weeks has been ‘not having a go’ at the opposition.
Well today, whatever else you might accuse them of, Wolves most certainly had a go.
The team selection was bold; sticking with two forwards and effectively going blow for blow with the reigning champions.

Looking back on it now of course, that approach seems foolish given that we were completely blown away inside the first half an hour.
The gaping holes that appeared between midfield and defence during that time were suicidal, giving Wayne Rooney freedom to roam throughout.
The England striker eventually made us pay too with a rasping drive to double the lead, after Nani’s carbon-copy opener.
I felt the central midfield duo were highly culpable for this first half struggle. Henry was caught in possession a number of times and looked off the pace. O’Hara just seemed to go missing in the defensive third.
In the coverage I was watching, Gary Breen and Matt Holland both offered some excellent insights. One of the points they repeated numerous times was that O’Hara isn’t mobile enough to play as part of a two man central midfield. You’re hard pressed to disagree, particularly away from home against one of the top sides.
Both Nani and Rooney were able to get their shots away far too easily, shown inside and allowed to pull the trigger. Great finishes but still very disappointing.
The second half was better and Wolves deserve credit for getting back into it, even if it only lasted for 10 minutes.
It was nice build up play too with a handful of neat passes leading up to a wonderful Jarvis cross and a trademark Fletcher header.
That good work was wiped out with Nani and Rooney grabbing another goal apiece to leave us wondering how many more it would be.
Thankfully, Wolves managed to get a foot on the ball for the last half an hour and enjoy xanaxcost.com more of the possession. United still should have had a couple more goals, but Wolves were unquestionably worth at least another one themselves; something Sir Alex himself pointed out in his post-match interview.
The biggest positive today was without doubt the performance of Matt Jarvis. He twisted, turned and terrorised Chris Smalling all afternoon, putting over a handful of excellent crosses to match his incisive running.
Mick McCarthy said prior to this match that he’d accepted Jarvis needs to play down the left and I think that’s crucial because he’s considerably more effective when he’s in that comfort zone, facing the play with the ball on his right foot.
Ward and Zubar were both pluses for me too. Yes, they struggled against the pace and trickery of Nani, Valencia and co, but they stuck to their tasks and got forward effectively when they could, particularly Ward whose interchange with Jarvis down the left is our most potent attacking weapon.
There wasn’t much to separate the performances of the two forwards, but the crucial difference is that Fletcher is the only one who looks a threat in front of goal. Doyle again didn’t get on the end of anything in the box, which is disappointing even against such lofty opposition.
Milijas was neat and tidy but again a lack of mobility in a 442 is a huge issue with the Serb. It seems increasingly likely that Mick will be in the market for an energetic midfielder come January. Edwards can of course occupy this role but quality in the ball remains a problem for him.
Overall, we can only accept that we were overwhelmed by a better side with better players. There were mistakes but 3 of the 4 goals were excellent finishes, however the chances came about.
Stoke will represent an altogether different obstacle next week, which should be one this Wolves side are more capable of overcoming.
If they have a go like they did today, they shouldn’t go too far wrong.

Well, we’ve seen two types of play from Wolves – one where we try and defend and just see the game out and one where we actually go forward and try to attack! I know which one I prefer!
Hopefully Jarvis can keep on form, because he was brilliant today! 🙂
Haven’t seen any of the game and only listened on 5 live. I guess I should reserve judgement but it sounded like our full backs were culpable for one if not more goals?
They also kept saying repetitively that we never closed down or tried to pressure them? Disappointing if true. Sounds like this was down to that midfield pairing you alluded to mate.
Speaking of which, why mess with the 11 that came off the pitch last week if we are ‘going to have a go.’
Hindsight is great I know, but why not play Hammill and SEB when hunt (off bench) and Doyle were so predictably poor again (if commentary) to go by.
I know we always surrender away games like this, but Mick still baffled me with these double standards.
When we’ve waited so, so long to find a winning combination, why dismantle it and refuse to even resort to it for one single second today?
Particularly if we were ‘going for it anyway?
What’s the betting we don’t see the team that finished the sunderland game at any moment on Saturday as well?
Ps, if that kick up the arse was meant to gee up Johnson, it sounded like it didn’t do the trick. He sounds awful!
Another Radio 5 listener here mate.
Dont know about ‘having a go’ as the commentary kept going on about us ‘not turning up’ today and how ‘disappointed Mick will be’ at allowing Manure to treat this like a ‘practice session’.
They weren’t going on about Palace like that last week. They certainly did have a go.
Well, Palace played United’s thirds, so we can’t compare the two to be fair.
As I said in the report, we were torn to pieces at times and it did indeed feel like a practice game at times, but the point is we had more thrust going forward, but this came at the cost of being more open at the back as a consequence.
With the players we have, there will always be this compromise.
You were listening to Danny Mills I believe, who was talking absolute bollocks all game. (I was watching and had 5Live on 😉 )
Ferguson sounded impressed with us (and Jarvis mainly) too from listening to him on the radio, which made Mills look like bit of a numpty
I should know better Louie. The media have always delighted in rubbishing us no matter what we do so fair play to the lads if they did deserve some plaudits today.
By the way, CFH is over. Fancy meeting up for a curry Mon evening? Ben, Thomas – you up for that?
Ben, surrendering is when we set up like we did at Stamford Bridge. We played well today going forward (I thought Doyle played okay, just didn’t look like scoring). Doyle and Fletcher are probably our two best footballers, and I think it’s hard to drop either if we play 442.
I was impressed with Zubar today, he’s getting fitter with every game and Ward for most parts was his usual self although struggled with the pace of Valencia at times.
Jarvis was a joy to watch, I bet Smalling hope’s he isn’t playing right back when they come to Molineux!
Oh, and Johnson played better than he had recently (although that doesn’t mean he played particularly great).
Fair point Louie. I’d put Everton away into that Stamford Bridge category too BTW, from painful experience.
I don’t think the set-up is as cut and dried as 4-5-1 (surrender) and 4-4-2 (having a go) though.
I just think Mick usually picks the wrong players in a 451 system and now we all just accept it doesn’t work instead of looking closer.
Whats wrong with 451 with Hammill and Jarvis on the wings? He started neither at Everton (if memory serves).
Yet he did play them away at Villa last season when we won and he’s steadfastly refused the same personel since.
My point being that mick’s 451 is regressive (hunt and Edwards out wide FFS!) when such a system needn’t be if he picked the right players.
It’s always ‘bingo or bollocks’ with him.
To be honest, I prefer 4-5-1! I think we play better football, today is a good example. We were playing alright with 442, but we got the ball to Jarvis quicker with Milijas in there with O’Hara. as much as I like Hammill if we are going to play 442 at Old Trafford it’s hard to see him starting, I would like to see him against Stoke though.
The big problem really is the fact that we have two quality (and quite expensive) forwards in Doyle and Fletcher. If we can find the right balance in a 442 I think we’ll be alright. We need Henry and O’Hara to be better than today, that’s for sure!
I prefer it too Louie, definitely. I know it was United away, but today was another game we were 2 down at HT playing 442. The stat is pretty damning. All us Wolves fans are more pragmatic than most, and with that in mind, I personally think 451 is the only way to go for the rest of the season. We can be as progressive as we want with it at home if Hammill slots into it.
This is the whole crux for me Louie – we are too rigid and noway near decisive enough tactically.
Remember when Everton pumped us 3-0 last season?
Moyes had fellaini, arteta, saha, cahill and Coleman out, but he stuck to his mantra, kept square pegs in square holes and they smashed us.
We lurch from one formation to the next depending on loads of things.
I cant see a scenario where we should ever play 442 again this term – unless we are 2 down at HT at home. (Coincidentally enough!)
Or, if we buy some quality in Jan.
O’Hara bossed the midfield last week, so I think it’s a little harsh to say that he went missing at Old Trafford. We do need him in our midfield two, especially in the next two games. I’d say it’s not his job to be in the defensive third as much as say, Henry. Without him Fletch would be on his own up there! Not too much bone picking to be done here I don’t think. We sit back we get beat, we have a go we get beat. Best to focus on the next two games. UTW.
We were always going to lose this one whatever formation was played against a much superior side, however some good performances today, better to watch. Easy to identify where we need to improve the quality in January with this type of game. Important to pick up some points over the next couple of tough games, UTW
O’Hara was absolutely dreadful. Lazy and jogging (maybe not that fast) back to the defensive line but never putting a tackle in. He pointed out where threats were coming from but never once closed anyone down. If he had headed straight for Nani on the first goal Nani would not have been able to take the shot but he just stood there and ball watched. Other than that he did a lot of arm raising and the odd bad pass. I like O’Hara and I think he has a lot of talent but today he was just plain shit. It is not harsh to say he went missing at all and I would have taken him off at about 35 mins.
Why Mick will not start with Hammill is mystifying. If you are going to go at a team with the ‘let’s have a go attitude’ then he is the man to put out on the wing.
Edwards as usual very poor. Just seems to skip about the place but not actually do much.
Fletcher and Doyle were good up front and would agree that Fletcher is the better at the minute, goals return would prove that. But Doyley still works his butt off.
Jarvis was reborn and hopefully will keep it up against the teams heading our way before xmas.
We desperately need a player or two come January we are still missing someone in the midfield with fight in their belly as well as good distribution. If ever we needed an Ince type.
Thought Johnson looked lacklustre at times and struggles to keep up with the play.
Someone above said Zubar is getting fitter, he should not be playing if he is not fit. Give some of the youngsters a chance. If Mick doesn’t put them in a team except for the odd 10 minute cameo role then they will never develop and just move on to other clubs.
As for where we are at the minute. Not too bad really but I think a lot of that is how poor some of the teams below are (and long may that continue).
For the squad we have and the money we have spent we are where I would expect. Right now I would settle for this position at the end of the season but I feel if Mick had the balls to play with the best team available including picking from the youngsters we would maybe surprise a few teams and get a mid table finish. I remember a young Robbie Keane ripping into defences at 17 why not give the kids a go?
Edwards isn’t a wide man. He shouldn’t be playing on the wing. Mick should have kept him in the middle with o’hara and had hammill on the wing. There was nothing to lose in this game so why not give it go?! Also I’d play zubes over the kids at old Trafford, it would be one hell of baptism of fire!
Pace pace and more pace + passing beat us today can’t argue with the way we played we gave it a go,better than sitting back and getting beat. Our midfield and defence can’t cope with it i’m afraid, but we were playing one of the best teams in the world..
3rd season in the top flight and we’re commended for ‘having a go!’
am i the only one to recognise that the wins against Wigan and Sunderland are likely to be the highlights of the season? fact is, we’re simply not good enough. and we certainly have no strength or quality in any depth.
would love to see us bring in some additional premier-quality players in January. we don’t need any more average-quality Championship players who fail to make the grade and then get moved on as quickly as possible. we’ve seen too much of that.
i know i’ve said it before, but we DO deserve better.
Well, what else do you expect against a team like United? Are you not even going to recognise Jarvis’ performance?
so there you go, hamlet. in a nutshell, you’ve got the MM mindset. ‘what do you expect against a team like Utd?’ so we just lie down and let bigger clubs ‘in crisis’ (chelsea, Man utd) roll us over?
until we feel we can genuinely compete, we will suffer the same results.
good to see jarvis return to some form-but we still lost 4-1.
Ps. vokes offers an alternative upfront, if jarvis is supplying crosses. so why is he on loan again?
What I mean is you talk as if we were expected to draw or beat Manchester United, and for a team like ours that’s a tall order! Realistically, we are nowhere near as good as them and the only way in which we can beat them is if we are great and they are bad…
But I don’t buy into this ‘let bigger clubs roll us over’ thing – that was true with Chelsea but we actually tried to attack in the United game; our defence was just not good enough, as the scoreline shows!
I also want to mention this little pet peeve of mind with the wins we do get… every single result we have achieved so far (even the Fulham one – ‘they were tired’) has been put down by some as being just because the other side were crap, or that we shouldn’t have won at all! Yeah, I’m looking at robin’s post typing this… but for god’s sake, at least give our players SOME credit for the results
I agree with you 100% mikewright.
We play like a team that is beaten before it starts the game.
If MM thinks that we will beaten, then as others have mentioned, why not give the youngsters a go?
All very well to say its a baptism of fire, but we are going to lose anyway with the attitude we have.
To those who say we must strengthen in January let me ask you a question – Who will come and play for a manager that thinks his team cannot compete?
I think it more likely we will lose a good player or two in January.
We must get a new manager for we are a sinking ship at the moment and flukey wins against Wigan and Sunderland should not paper over the cracks of a dire situation….
United are a top side, no denying that, forget what happened mid week.
The thing that frustrates me is how terrible we were today at on the ball defending, obviously it’s tough to look good with the likes of Valencia and Nani but especially on the 1st 2 goals, Henry needs to be tighter, just inexcusable to give them that much space.
Henry had an awful game in my opinion and I was shocked to not see him taken off. Terrible defending, gave the ball away in our own third, created nothing at all offensively, I just don’t feel comfortable when he’s on the ball.
Fletcher and Jarvis proved they are top class, for how immobile Fletch sometimes looks, he gets goals and that’s all you can ask, Doyle has looked poor as of late and like MM said, unlikely to score.
Disappointing but proud we had a go and that we adjusted and played decent football at times, it was always a tough ask to grab points at Old Trafford, when United are desperate for an emphatic win
Well beaten by the much better side, but I thought it was a very open game (perhaps too open), and enjoyable to watch. Both teams played some good football and there were classy goals. But the time and space we allowed them in front of our back four in the 1st half was huge and we paid the price. In the 2nd period, Ward was exposed defensively (for the first time this season) albeit against top-class players. Henry and O’Hara were relatively poor throughout; Milijas had nice touches but let’s face it he’s about as mobile as a fridge. All three look better in a 4-5-1.
Jarvis was top-notch brilliant. The most eye-catching player on the pitch, even with Nani and Rooney firing. That’s easily as good as I’ve ever seen him. I’m usually the first to slate him, but I’ll find a hat and eat it gladly.
Still no zeli……….I do hope that my vision isn’t a year early, although it would mean that we’d still be in with the big boys next year. Don’t really want to wait all season with us scraping the odd result though, lets hope he’s on the bench against Stoke. You know that would get those hairs on the back of your neck standing up.
Can’t lose either way, get your money on us staying up.
In Zeli we trust.
I’m not convinced he will make it, he definitely won’t be the first ‘100m’ player.
Bah humbug……
The main worry for me at the moment is Doyle. I know he works hard and holds the ball up well but he neither creates or scores goals. Time to give him a rest and someone else a chance in my opinion.
Exactly the point I’ve been making for quite some time, Martin, but most fans just won’t have it. The sad fact is that with Mick in charge, players that have done little to warrant their place based on a string of meaningless or poor performances will continue to start – Roger Johnson anyone?
Before anyone pipes up with “but Johnson was dropped last week”, leaving him out the side for one game is hardly a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Yeah, but since Craddock was injured MM didn’t have much choice in the matter, did he?
I do agree about Doyle though – things just aren’t clicking for him!
Ben, please call your Dad, I’m in town, having a curry with him Monday night, so come on down and bring Thomas along.
FOMM
Cool, I’ll see if Wardy fancies a Bhuna too!
Louie’s gone all shy! Thought he’d jump at the chance of a curry with you but the silence is deafening!
Meant to reply, as I saw it on my phone! just got back online.
I’m going to the Stoke game (hoping to keep my 100% tecord this season going 😉 ) and am in Wolverhampton over the weekend!
I only saw Setanta’s highlights on Footytube, but I lost count of how many times co-commentator Brian Little mentioned the chasm of space between our defence and midfield. As Ben said, Mick has dismantled a winning side by putting Henry and Johnson straight back into the mix, which clearly didn’t work. It’s also clear we can’t play 4-4-2, so why the manager persists in sticking with this formation is beyond me.
Yesterday’s game was also another example of how reliant we are on Fletcher – no big Steve, no goals. It’s that simple. Doyle is still awful in my opinion (doesn’t create anything, doesn’t score). If Mick persists with 4-4-2, which he will, then surely Fletcher and Ebanks-Blake should start together. They are, after all, a far more accomplished partnership then either of them and Doyle.
O’hara not mobile enough??! What about Henry!???
Also why haven’t you highlighted Henry failing to get a tackle in for opening two goals.
Flippin’ heck Bazza, I thought I did mate.
What about this:
“I felt the central midfield duo were highly culpable for this first half struggle. Henry was caught in possession a number of times and looked off the pace. ”
“Both Nani and Rooney were able to get their shots away far too easily, shown inside and allowed to pull the trigger. ”
Even the picture has a picture of Henry with the caption ‘not close enough’. Not sure what more I could have said. Ha!
In fairness, it wasn’t just Karl who was culpable for not getting blocks in. Edwards was also left for dead by Nani and one of the two center backs definitely should have got closer to Rooney.
Thomas – I hold my hands up to what was a grossly unfair post. Think I was still a bit drunk from Sat night and wanted Henry’s head on a platter! Apologies mate. Agree that Dave Edwards was very poor for the first goal.
I’ve been seeing and hearing good things about Kightly from Watford…….perhaps when he returns in January he may be the player he once was, if he is then he would easily make our right hand side look far more threatening than Hunt and Jarvis can (although not hammill but McCarthy dislikes him so he’s out of the equation)
Don’t be fooled people, we were awful again yesterday. We may have looked better but only because we were allowed to by a man ure side who were happy to allow us to come onto them knowing full well that they could pick us off at will.
Our defence is shocking, Henry woeful. We have a true gem in Fletch and it was good to see Jarvis actually take his man on.
We are heading to the Championshit. Anyone who thought we would get points against Sjoke City next week should watch how they are destroying Spurs at the moment. Norwich are no mugs either!
So bottom 3 for xmas which is where we will stay til the train arrives to take us down.
McCarty Out!
We’re only good when the opposing team allows us to be, aren’t we? Of course Wigan, Sunderland, Fulham and Blackburn could have done the same but they just couldn’t be asked, could they?
Man United are all too kind to us for letting us believe that we may actually be a Premier League side, aren’t they? I bet that was Ferguson’s pep talk at half-time; “Now I know that Wolves suck but I want you guys to just let them have just one goal – think of it as an early Christmas present!”
I’m all for opinions and all that but I can’t help but get pissed off by some at times! Sorry.
Oh, and before you bust out the happy clapper/delusional quote, we have had some truly awful games but there are signs that we’re getting better IMO
if you are happy getting smacked 4-1 by anyone then good for you. If youre happy that we are 4th from bottom then good for you. If youre happy that we already have a -12 goal difference then good for you. I want more and i expect more and after 50 million spent that is not too unreasonable to ask imo.
Clap happy, happy clapper because we were lucky to beat 3 of the 4 teams you mention.
“we were lucky to beat 3 of the 4 teams you mention.”
Our position in the table wasn’t my point – THIS was my point! It’s as if the team can do no right and it’s rarely due to their play and effort when they do get a result. I’ve already mentioned this above but the team deserves credit for the wins, and yet you brush it off as ‘lucky’ – it infuriates me!
I guess if we beat Stoke next week you’ll be saying, “Well, they beat Everton and Tottenham so they should have beaten us – we’re lucky they were s**t today!”
Oh, and on a side note I’d like Wolves to be further up the table as well – we would all like that!
Its not about the team, its about the manager – the team is as good or as bad as the manager. We’re bad because our manager is inept at this level.
I love the team always have always will which is why its painful to see them getting smacked week in week out.
Oh and Stoke will beat us so your comment is irrelevant.
I didn’t know that you were a fortune teller!
Just to let you know, I’m gonna stop commenting after this – seems that both of us will remain stubborn in our views! 😛
Just like we weren’t going to beat Sunderland wasn’t it?
Give over Jed, I can understand anyone’s frustrations at the Chelsea/Everton games because of how we set up. It was shocking and that was Mick’s fault. Yes, we were too open but Man utd were looking to bounce back from the midweek and it’s a tough game whatever their form is at Old Trafford.. We defended poorly at times, the defence were left horribly exposed by Henry and O’Hara (both had poor games) but it was a damn sight better than at Stamford Bridge as we looked a decent side for periods of the game and played reasonably well.
The next two games are very important and we need atleast 4 pts (6 really). Both good teams but also sides we can expect to beat at home.
Again Louie you have your opinion I have mine but 4 wins in 15 speaks for itself. I’m happy you think those are acceptable stats but I don’t. Excuse me if my expectations are unreasonably high, but we should be doing better I think even you Louie would agree that we have been extremely poor for the majority of the season.
I don’t understand why we should expect to beat Stoke and Norwich. Both play better football than we do, both have more points on the board, both have good confidence levels. I hope we do beat them (especially Stoke) I just don’t think we will, that’s not being negative, its being a realist and based on current form.
I agree that we have been poor for the majority of the season, worryingly so. However, the Sunderland game and this one were a big improvement in footballing terms. We got the ball down and looked to attack, which we hadn’t for a while.
Stoke don’t play football, and Norwich’s ‘great football’ people talk about is nowhere near as good as made out. I’d say when we want to we play better football than both but we are just so inconsistent with out style that we don’t get recognised for it (which is fair enough really)
In terms of Pulis v McCarthy, then the game is already over and we have lost.
Hamlet you are defending the indefensible.
We are bad and, as Jed said, heading for the championship.
Could Jarvis have suddenly played better to impress Sir Alex?
Kightly might be our only hope.
We looked like we were heading for the championship last season though, weren’t we? And I wager perhaps the season before that!
And are we in the championship?
Jed, robin – a little faith in the team can’t hurt, surely? I’m not talking up to this so-called ‘happy clapper’ level, but you two seem intent on looking at the things in the most negative light possible; understandable in quite a few of our games so far, but not so understandable when we’ve improved in the last two games.
p.s. It’d probably only take one Kightly game for you to ‘discover’ that you’ve proved yourself wrong…
Kightly is a has been, he’s as much use as SEB in this league – overweight, no pace, not enough in his locker to beat quality Premier League defenders.
As for being overly negative, what choice do I have when I get served up the dross we se week in week out. I to;d you before, I’m a realist not a pessimist or an optimist. I see it for what we are – an extremely poor team in a strong division, with bad management, bad tactics and poor team selections, getting beat more often than not – so lets see you argue that point. There is nothing positive about the position we are in in this league, other than we haven’t been relegated YET!
SEB has proved that he can cut it at this level, he needs more games (which he’s more likely to get elsewhere! His goals to game ratio last season was very good.
Kights, well we don’t really know whether he can do it or if he can’t. The Watford fans love him, and it sounds like he is getting sharper and better with everygame. I want to see him given a chance to prove he can do it because if he can, then well we have a very good player on our hands.
Having just watched the Stoke v Sours game I am worried about our defence against the Stoke set piece machine!
Come on me babbies!
3 points a necessity next game
I hope the next two games brings us a least 4 points because if we don’t its bottom three
come christmas and if we do drop in the mire its gonna be harder this time to get out of it.
Having said that i do agree that with a better manager i think we can avoid the bottom three.
It calls for some balls by the chairman and the board to give us the christmas present we all
crave, if the truths known, oops except the happy clappers.
Wrong idea, wrong time, wrong thinking. Anyyone who does not want MM to go before xmas is a happy clapper. Thats a really intelligent debating topic. Keep up the good work. Oh sorry, i must be a happy clapper.
I will keep up the good work as you call it,As long as he’s manager he’s a bit of a joke just
like yourself. Its my opinion and a lot more of you happy-clappers are starting to see the
light so i suggest you prehominid do the same.FOMM.
Thankyou. Its not every day you get called a prehominid happy clapper. Until next time, Mr Johnok, you old dinasaur. In Mick we trust. UTW.
Less of the dinosaur. Why don’t you post your photo on the blog,it would be nice
to see how old you look, but i’ve got to say if you look bad then keep the wolf’s head
you neanderthal.FOMM.
I have complied with your request but feel i should have stuck with the wolfs head. As for being a neanderthal, it is a vast improvement on a prehominid. All we need now is an improvement in your concept of timing for when MM departs and we maybe able to have an intelligent debate. In Mick we trust. UTW.
OK,thai wolf.Nice to see whom i’m blogging with a bit of misconception on
my part on calling you a prehominid you look like any other happy clapper.
On having an intelligent debate, until mm moves on or he gets moved on i’m
afraid my stance remains the same. Happy christmas to you and your family.
ps blog with you again sometime soon i presume.
Modus vivendi. Happy Christmas to you to. From A Happy Clapper.
Abnormis sapiens,,Happy Taiwanese newyear when ever it is.
From a MM Dissenter.
With the misses working on Saturday I braved the household chores listening to Sky Sports. While Merson may not be the most eloquent of commenatators on Sky, he knows his football, and when I heard him say the full back is standing too far off, I checked and it was Ward.
Later Merson said Valencia was giving Ward the runaround, and this was confirmed on MOD.
Ward has improved this season, from out of his depth to barely adequate, yet MM decides to give him a 3 and a half year contract.
Its not Wards fault he doesn`t have the pace to play in the premier, MM failure to bring in more players with pace could cost us dear this year. And as for two in midfield, kamikaze tactics, with neither o`Hara or Mijas quick enough to play in a two man midfield. MM tried a 2 man midfield in the championship, and teams played 3 players and caught us out, but still he hasn`t grasped in the modern game a two man midfield doesn`t work.
I`d have though protecting our goal difference was more important than having a go, its about not conceeding , at least then there is a chance of getting something out of the game. Dinasur tactics, player purchases and team selection. Amongst our squad there must be 11 players who are able to do more with better tactics and team management.
Finally got to see the goals last night, and ,oh my, wasn’t our favorite big nosed left back up to his usual tricks, standing off the winger then trying to play catch up.
Totally at fault for the last 2 goals………..but he’s improved!!!
Fuckin’ rubbish, utter dross, piss poor selection and tactics, yet again, and another nail in our championship coffin, or whatever the trite cliche is.
Saying this was better than at Chelsea is total bollocks from the crappy happer brigade as usual. We gave them a 2 goal start, we lost, and we lost by 3 clear goals. How is there any difference?
Thank god I didn’t waste my pretty colored pound notes to go up there, much prefering to get wasted at the curry house on the Penn Road……..as I will again tonight!!
FOMM
Penn Road.. I’m staying on mount road on Saturday which is only a stones throw away from there! I hope you aren’t trying to track me down 😛
