If Wolves are at their best when the opposition attack, this might be the easiest game of the season.
I suspect that particular hypothesis only extends so far though.

But we can certainly travel to the Etihad with hope given what the lads have achieved this season and the number they did on Spurs still fresh in the memory.
They’ll need a similar performance on Monday to have any chance and as much as I admire Pep, it would be great to spoil the party for them again.
Man City
City might have scored 16 goals in their last two matches, but they’ve only managed one in two against Wolves – and that was a header from a set piece.
Still, it’s intimidating to be next in line after those morale boosting demolitions of Rotherham and Burton.

Prior to that there was the pivotal win over Liverpool too, so it feels like they’ve well and truly got over that despicable two game blip and are back to their juggernaut best.
Just as well because if they’re to get 100 points again nothing but perfection will do. A mid 90s haul may suffice to retain the title though.
Aguero didn’t play in either of the cup games but could feature on Monday. Vincent Kompany is also on his way back.
But whether those two make it or not, Pep has a wealth of options to choose from and we’ll be getting their strongest possible XI.
They average 3.7 goals per game at home in the Premier League so combating that statistic is the primary objective.

The home end
Some comments lifted from the match thread on a popular City forum:
We owe this lot for robbing us of 2 points that could be vital but this is going to be a really tough game, they’ll be flying after beating spurs and the dippers.
Think this will be the game that sets the tone for the rest of the League season. Expect a tough game but I also expect us to play with the relentless ferocity of the last three games.
Wolves have proved their worth in the PL by decent performances against the top 6. We do need to win this and keep our momentum up! High tempo with ruthless finishing and solid defending. They’re no mugs, we shouldn’t assume anything. Nothing would please the Dippocrites and Spuds to see us slip up. 2-1
God. We go into this one strong. Everyone fit (bar Memdy) and playing well, KDB improving every game, confidence and motivation high. We might give them a tonking.
We know what they can do…their speed on the break, and their ability to score from outside the box…but if we can’t beat Wolves at home at this stage of the season with 5 days between games and key players rested, then the PL is out of our reach, as is the CL.
Tough game, they’re probably the best team outside of the top 6, they just haven’t been as consistent playing against the other 13 teams.
The way they play I sense this might be our most difficult home fixture to come for the remainder of the season. Any win will be huge for us especially if Brighton who will give anybody a tough game at home grab something against Liverpool.
Wolves
In such a difficult environment it will be fascinating to see who Nuno deploys.

Midfield is probably the only area it’s tough to predict but he’s leaned towards that extra body in central areas of late and can see Saiss coming in for Dendoncker.
Jota looked good against Liverpool so would be worth starting as our most capable link-up man.
What the above arguably lacks is that outlet ball which the pace of Costa or Traore may afford, so wouldn’t be surprised if one of them starts either.

Up The Wolves!

Hard game but with this Wolves you just never know, be good to see us have a go, which I think we will. Respectful write up from the Man City fan as well.
You never know with Wolves. 1-1. Willy Boly
The less chance we’re given, the more hope I have. Long odds, I suspect, on Wolves gleaning anything from this game but this season, more than any I can remember, the boys seem to like it that way.
Very impressed with Dendonker against the Pool. Did anyone notice he was the first to reach Raul after his sprint and goal, so had obviously been bustin’ a gut to get up there.
No fear for me should Nuno start him.
Otherwise, the usual golden heroes could well have enough to shake Citeh’s apple tree and munch on the fruit as they fall.
Would be harsh if Dendonker got the nod ahead of Saiss, but I wouldn’t be upset to see either in the starting line-up. That said, as a realist I’ve still got to opt for a City win, but would love to see us mix it with the big boys again and pick up something from the game.
Afraid to be a doom merchant, but I can’t realistically see us getting anything at the Etihad. Move on and get ready for more winnable games.
Nuno’ s tactics seem to be careful and controlled in the first half and then to open up in the second. This game will be no different and once we are within one goal of City with 25 minutes to go anything can happen! My eternal optimism rules surpreme! Wolves to win!
Who on earth would have bet on Wolves hammering Spurs at Wembley…no-one…..
Who would have bet on us despatching Liverpool in the FA Cup…
Who, at the time would have bet on us whooping Chelsea 2-1….
We’ll bet to your hearts content … coz this is going to open some more of Paul Mersons’ eyebrows…
I’m so fortunate to be going to watch it…. I’d select Dendoncker for this one and in Nuno… well Benbow loves you …as do we all… xx
I stated that Spurs had used up all their Xmas pressies against Everton and Bournemouth. Could it just be that the same applies to Man City following the Rotherham and Burton cricket scores? Hopefully! Trouble is they hardly broke sweat against those lower order teams and have a much bigger squad to call on, never mind the prospect of a homer referee. Hope I’m wrong but:
Despite my prediction, I think that the bookies are taking the p as you can get 15/2 the draw and 17/2 the win . That’s insulting. So I’ve filled my boots. Hopefully!!
Nothing would surprise me with this team so an early goal then hang on 1-0 wolves
Hoping they’ve used up their goals ration and that (providing they cannot use their tactical cheating – come on ref) we can catch them on the break. Or from set piece (following tactical foul by Vincent Kompany).
Well, y’all know what score I am going to predict.
They lost at home to Palace.
Palace, for fuck’s sake!
It’s one thing to have target practice against those poor sods in their last two home “games”, quite another to come up against a team who don’t give a shit to reputations, and with a tiny bit more luck would have already beaten them once this season, as well as Arsenal and Manure.
All the experts went on about how many we would lose to Spurms by, since they’d scored a shed load before playing us.
What do they know?
They are “experts” coz they are too dumb and dim to get proper jobs.
Over confidence by Citeh and well founded confidence on our part should see a cracking game.
We may not win 5-1, but a lot of you had that score in mind at minute 89 at Wembley, didn’t you?
Come on, admit it!
Ya got me Clive. I can’t deny.
Like Nuno says repeatedly ‘we prepare to win’ and this game is no different. Yes City are a good side but they will be wary of our pace. Remember what Jota did to Walker & Co at the Mol ? Hit them on the break when ever we get the chance . I think he needs to unleash Traore and Gibbs White in the second half. I would take a draw but would love a sneaky win….
COYW
I had wolves to beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurms, albeit very tongue in cheek but with the knowledge and memories of watching some of the best football Iv’e witnessed as a Wolves fan since 1961.
This team are head and shoulders above previous Wolves teams, I know we can’t compare the football of yester year to todays feast, (Bully said the same on his interview with Nathan Judah), but this is lovely stuff and it makes supporting the Old Gold & Black a pleasure instead of a chore.
Next is City, next is the sort of football we are aspiring to acheive, there is no given in football, just because they scored 16 goals in the last couple of games does not mean they can’t lose on Monday.
The respect from City fans and the change of attitude from Pep warms the heart, we are being taken seriously, (certainly by Pep). He is bringing his own ball, the grass is their colour and shade, the wind is what they’re used to, so no excuses.
If we can hold on until halftime, boring or otherwise, then we can drive on change personell and who knows, who knows!
Man City 1
Wolves 2
COMBambinos
Practise match lol.. I’m interested who goes in goal…as he could dictate half the result no doubt we have some saves to make..
The other end who knows but I’m sure we will get the chances
Traore could tear through more than once but what will he do with the final pass?..Jota perhaps..
Neves from 30yds too..
2-1
Citeh will be expecting it to be easy like their cup games, they’ll get frustrated and we’ll do them as we did Spurs
Nice to see a top side giving us some respect at last
They are good and they really need to beat us but this wolves team is brilliant
The harder they come the harder they fall
Well, it could be the ‘tonking’ one City fan mentioned but the two easy wins against lower calibre may well leave them undercooked. How far we have come in 2 seasons to even consider taking the game to the league champions away from home with I believe a realistic chance of a result. What a debut season this is, even if we concede first we have the firepower to get back in the game. Forecast a 2.1 and the 12th man roaring themselves hoarse to another memorable win. Saiss MOTM with both goals.
By full time Pep will be sick all over his Matalan zip up jumper and chinos. The lumbering Vincent Kompany so bewildered by the on rushing pack he has to call the Samaritans for help at half time. Vincent “hello Vincent Kompany here. I seek counselling because I just don’t know what to do” Samaritans “Where are you now? ” VK “I am in the Manchester City dressing room ,Ethihad stadium” Samaritans ” I am afraid we have just spoken to Nuno Santo and he is bringing Adama Traore on next for more pace up front. There is nothing we can do to help. You might as well get a job serving in the Kabin on Coronation Street” VK ” aaaaaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhhhh”. John Stones buries his head in a barrel of Stones bitter and Leroy Sane puts a Christmas tree on his head and says “I am a Dalek. I am a Dalek”. The mass panic in Citeh ranks has the Etihad in disbelief as City crash 3-0 to WWFC. Little and Large begin punching each other in the face and The Gallagher’s set fire to each others hair. After the game Nuno said ‘ we don’t fucking care who we play. Wolves ay we’ Pep said ‘ I am a lamp post called Dorothy’. Citeh 0 WWFC 3.
Get real, there’s no way Sane would put a Christmas tree on his head. All the Christmas trees went back up the loft last Sunday.
I have it on good authority that Leroy hasn’t yet put his Christmas tree back up the loft…. probably…
Wolves will win this one.
City will be complacent as usual to our advantage.
2-1 win
Dendoncker for Saiss the only change I’d make. Impressed with the Donck v Liverpool. Looks good on the ball, can break up play and gets forward. A bit of an all action MF if you want.
In fact, Donck, Moutinho and Neves all looked good as a unit in the Cup and they compliment each other nicely. Donck has a bit of everything, Neves dictates play from deep (also gets his foot in) and Moutinho floats around gracefully collecting and making passes.
What the 3 man MF gives us is plenty of options in possession and hard to break down when without the ball. And we won’t be having much of it v City!
I see what Thomas means about the front 3 giving us that extra man for the out ball, but it was utlimately the introduction of Moutinho and change in shape that won us the game v Spurs.
For me, 343 leaves us with too many gaps in MF and the front 3. At times we can barely string a pass together and we’re too open, leaving the defence exposed.
Of course it’s going to be hard v City, but I’m hoping for a similar display to August. Soak up the pressure, play when we can and hit them on the counter.
Paddy.
I wish I could give your post 100 likes.
Spot on buddy, we were epic with that formation at Mol-in-ho against Liverpool.
I hope and pray Nun ho starts that team again.
Haha very kind of you Pete!
Yeah it worked well v Liverpool mate. For all the nice football the Scousers played, they never looked like getting through our MF. And when we had the ball, the MF were all close enough to interchange. There was also oceans of space for our WBs to exploit as the lack of a front 3 meant Cav and Costa weren’t getting in their way.
I just feel with a MF 2, especially when they’re stretched apart, our defence is too easy to get to.
343 still has its place at times but I think Nuno is warming to the 3421/352. It helps when Jota is undroppable as that second forward and we have 5 MFs all near the top of their game.
I think Dendonker will consider himself unlucky if he’s left out. We could trouble them on the break with the pace we have.
We could get something but head tells me it’ll be a home win.
As was mentioned earlier, Dendoncker was right up there waving for a pass from Jimenez when he scored. I read also that there was another time where he was doing likewise.
Maybe he should be in front of the two midfielders because he seems to want to be involved in the offense and we know that he knows how to play defense. (I hope I wrote this soon enough so that it will get back to Nuno.)
So Dendoncker instead of Moutinho in your diagram and Moutinho can come on later in the game if necessary.
Anyway, I think I’m going to go a little negative and predict 2-2.
And I will make a further prediction that neither team will score more than 3 goals.
I’m sure Nuno will be taking note of everything that you say, Tim.
Tim,
Thanks for the advise. I’m going play that way exactly.
I’m so blessed to have so many doing my job for me.
Cheers dudes
NES
No problem Nuno, glad to have helped.
By the way, I’m glad that advice I, and a couple other’s, gave you about making sure Jota could play closer to the centre of the pitch where he thrived last year, worked so well in turning his season around.
I must admit that idea of putting him in as part of a two striker system moving him even closer to the centre of the pitch was a brilliant extension of our advice.
But then, that’s what you are paid the big bucks for.
Tim,
What did you think of Paul Gladon?
Should I have kept him?
Do you think Hause is doing a great job for us at Veela?
Thanks in advance & yours truest
NES
If Nuno strengthens the middle and leaves Jota and Jiminez to do the scoring we may be OK.
I’m sure we all fear the worst, but Nuno does plan, and if we keep them out until half time, and even get one on the break or from outside the box, we could go on and win it.
They’ve got some awesome players there though !
This goes completely against my feelings for this wonderful Wolves team but I can’t see us doing what we did earlier in the season as the Citeh juggernaut rolls on…….
Heart says Wolves win; head would take a draw now.
Hoping for a great performance and a classic match.
Well, on paper this is as tough as they come I guess, except that all of us Wolves fans know that we turn up to play the big boys and struggle to deal with the lesser lights.
Given that the big boys don’t come any bigger than these on Monday, I’m going to go for a predictable shocker.
Very proud to belong to this https://youtu.be/1KthbXX-Tqg
Quite rightly so Matt, our strength is in the pack.
Brilliant
Love this LwL
That’s excellent Matt. Been thinking of getting something together down yer in Devon too. The backing music for our vid’ would have to be something by the Wurzels. Maybe ‘Drink up yer Cider George’.
I haven’t got a result right against the so-called ‘big six’ yet so predicting another defeat seems the right call.COYW.
City are still on paper the best team in the league. I expect us to give them a good game though.
Agree with bring Jota straight back. When he’s at his best he’s my favourite player.
I have been very wary in being too optimistic against the big clubs, especially away from home but I get some inspiration from fellow bloggers and their confidence. I felt really good when Clive mentioned that “They lost at home to Palace. Palace, for fuck’s sake!”.
Then I realised that we too didn’t do so well against Palace at home. So back to square one! Head says 3-1 City. Heart say 1-1 . Bugger it – go with the heart for a change!!
couple of questions:-
1 do our players call Nuno the ‘gaffer’? Its common parlance among footballers …but I can’t imagine that they do…but then what do they call him?
2 can we play 13 on Monday? Every perfect formation I come up with has a slight flaw, such as packing the middle with Saiss and Dendoncker and having MGW add creativity to Neves and Moutinho so that we can feed Jota and Jimenez on the break…
OK OK ….but we need to threaten on the break and that means J & J up front…and we probably shouldn’t try one at the back
so MGW and the big D need to wait their turn ….and Costa to sub for a J (all in second half)
No…… still prefer 13 in starting line up
My predictions have been useless and I’m hoping this one is too…but I think we are going to be on the receiving end of a tonking….Citeh have to focus on goal difference and they will also be looking to pay back for our effrontery at Molineux ( plus the iffy goal)
its a reverse Clive
Their match against liverpool was extraordinary. Top quality team and our finishing boots have to be on if we pick up anything from this match
We have more than proved our worth against the top 6 this season but City are just so blood good I can’t see us wining this one, I predicted a 3 – 1 defeat against Spurm and look what happened so the same again for me.
Wolves 1
City 3
We have shown twice that we have the defensive structure and know-how to suppress their attacking game. So we need to do it again. Our 3-4-3, as before, will almost definitely become a 5-4-1 because of the amount of possession they will have. Hence it may make sense to start with an extra defensive midfielder (Saiss or DenD). But if we can get to 60 mins without conceding there would be a strong case for bringing Traore on…
Agree with team selection but can’t see us getting much from this one.
Can we hold arguably the best team in Europe over 90 mins for the third game on the bounce? With all their quality you would expect them to get the better of us at some point. We do enjoy teams that come at us and City certainly will come at us. Team news I would bring in Patricio, Doherty and Saiss for Ruddy, Vinagre and Dendoncker.
I would ask that question the other way.
Can they hold out against us for a third game in a row?
Eventually we will beat them, as has been proven this season, they are deffo not invincible.
Hyper concentration for the entire 90 odd minutes will see us sneak this .
We have the players, we know we do, we have already done it home and away this season.
An early smash and grab goal then run them ragged and dont give them a second on the ball.
I really believe we can do this .
CANT WAIT !
Easiest prediction yet. Wolves to win.
Expecting us to get beat, but wouldn’t surprise me if we went up there and get a result. Head over heart.
Tight game I think
I’ve worked out if I say I think I we’ll lose & I predict a draw (refusing to predict a loss), they always prove me wrong & get a win.
So I’ll go with that.
COYW
Blimey!!! We’re a superstitious lot on here, ain’t we. 🙂
Too right! I had my lucky Wolves hat which never failed – I put it on & Dean Sturridge would score!! Lost it years ago & been gutted ever since!!!
I predict a riot!
There certainly WILL be one at our Wiltshire Estate if we get a win at the Citehad, or whatever it is they call Maine Road nowadays.
It’s almost impossible to see anything but a win for City, but people thought that about Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool.
I know one thing, the pressure will be on the Mancunians, and pressure can play merry hell with the smoothest and classiest of operators.
I will be sat in front of the magic lantern set, by a roaring log fire, in the Great Hall at DOOGooder Towers, a 200 year old Cognac in one hand and the PMDG’er in the other, waiting for the late breakaway goals that give us the points.
Having said that, I think I would also settle for a point.
I’ve given the entire staff, including Scrotum, the old wrinkled retainer, the night off just in case we come out on top because, if it happens, I might be on a promise on the bearskin rug in front of the Dying embers. (What a great band!).
I think that Jimenez and Jota could well end up as a damn good attacking duo, so I would play them and Dennis Donker in midfield. With the rest more or less picking themselves, let’s give it our best shot.
Or should I say shots.
Take a draw anyone?
Strangely enough DOOG …if we can get a point or a win the Lady Twix has promised that we will be emulating what yourself and the PMDG’r might be getting into…. only thing is we’ll be on the coach coming back….. omg I hope the other passengers can stomach some of that.
What am I saying …
Which coach you on Twix I must watch this……….she told me you couldn’t raise a gallop!!!!
The Exhibitionists one…..
There might be snow on the roof but the fire’s still going strong…. allegedly…..
Gallop …. you’re getting your furlong mixed up with for longer…..
A thoroughly excellent afternoon in the second division. Shit concede late equaliser . Small Heath lose at home. As for the dominant club of the Midlands lost 3-0 at Wigan. Apparently Agent Hauser had a shocker (job well done). Agent Jacobs scored from Agent Lee Evans cross. Managed of course by Agent Cook. Well done boys job done. Oh and Tammy. We are at the Etihad Monday night while you enjoy being 13th in division 2.
Ladbrokes have just given me odds of 14-1 for a Wolves win and 6-1 for a draw on Monday so I’ve invested the cost of a couple of pints on each result.
It’s got to be done. 14-1 on a two horse race?
Come on!
Who’s going to be riding ours?
Diogo is 6/1 to score a goal at anytime and whatever the result.
Considering he looks on fire at the moment it’s worth a punt.
What can’t speak can’t lie…
The best thing Pep can do is put nine men behind the ball for 80 minutes. Guaranteed 2-0 win!
Just like to say I have been on the piss all afternoon so if I come on here and say anything fundamentally stupid. Just tell me to fuck off.which you do any way ! Wolves ay we.
Theres them would say you are on piss all the time, that you say fundamentally stupid shit all the time.
But not me Mr. Death, not me.
I would never wish to offend you, or anyone else for that matter.
Soul of discretion is wot I are.
We love ya, dude!!
FWAW
Cheesy, I’m on the Voddy.
So if I come on here and tell you to feck off, (feck off Cheesy) then just tell me to feck off, because I won’t mean it?
City have so many ways to score that we will have to be beyond exceptional to keep them out. We have been fantastic in many games this season, but this one may be beyond us.
The fact that I’m finding it hard to predict whether we’ll win, lose or draw against the reigning champions is in itself a very gratifying feeling. We are now competing with the best there is. We are home!
Pep & his merry men are good, in fact very good, but unless they’ve changed the rules, they will only be allowed to start & play with 11.
Wolves on the other hand will also start with 11.
Pretty even so far.
The mancs will have their last 2 results still in their heads & think that just turning up will give them 3 points.
Nuno on the other hand will have installed a controlled approach with the pack with realism that they will play “our way” and to “fek the mancs”
They’ll have 52,000 Liam Galaghers there but the 3,000 strong 12th man will be like we have with another player in the pitch.
Our results this year prove we can play & beat anyone.
And whilst ‘pool played a weakened side Spurms didn’t and they finished the game with Clives twisted blood.
Coach leaves at 2.00, beer stop on way, in fine voice in the Etihed & another 3 points will make for a gratifying start to 2019.
COMB FWAW FOwb, Veela, Tammy & manc bathtubs. 🙂
I love to see the optimism recorded here and my heart is in the same place. We have done it before – so why can’t we do it again?
However I don’t think that City will make the same mistake of underestimating us. They will be properly focused – as will we.
I think it will be a tight game but I really hope that it will be end to end excitement. The more armchair viewers we can convert to being Wolve’s disciples the better.
It’s great to be on prime time TV, seen all over the world – I’m loving it.
Unfortunately I think they are a few years ahead of us in their transformation so will probably be a little too good on the night.
Almost because of, and in spite of, the one sided media bias ,Sky, most print media etc,( funnily enough not so much the BBC) I think we will turn them over. They share the arrogance – Pep saying he prefers to play promoted teams mid season not at the start etc – ,the disdain for non top six entities, what joy to see Merson et al chewing their bile once more!
Man City on Monday, Brexit on Tuesday holiday on Wednesday – life cannot get much better!
A few years ago I had a colleague at work that lived in Warrington and was an avid Man City supporter and season ticket holder. Whilst we got on very well, he used to give me a lot of stick, and we had many friendly arguments regards the standing of City (they had just been gifted the commonwealth stadium, now the Etihad) and the relative standing of Wolves.
Unfortunately we lost contact when I moved on to pastures new, how I would like to get back in touch so I could return the stick I received, like I already have to Albion, Villa and Blues supporting relatives and friends
They have Sheikh Mansour we now have Fosun, they have Pep we now have Nuno.
They have first class team, we too have a first class team capable of beating anyone on their day.
They have a fantastic (free) stadium, we will soon have a fantastic stadium.
Why should we travel up there with anything other than optimism?
It’s just another team, a good one, but capable of being beat, as we have proved.
My Manc supporting friend, I will be scanning the crowds for you!!
Latest round of games down at the bottom. Points per game ratio showing Huddersfield to finish on 19 points.Fulham 25 points. Newcastle 32 points and Cardiff 33 points. So based on that another 4 points and we are safe!
A point at such a great side like Man City would be brilliant, a win would be incredible. I cant see it though i think they’ll just have too much. I do think we’ll score however but its when that goal will come that’ll decide if its a good game or not. Jota to be back on the score sheet for me
Hi Ferris – I agree, but obviously hope that you and I are talking rubbish!
Cav to score.
UTW!
With all the talk of training ground spying, didn’t I read last year or so that Wolves had to build a higher fence or put more trees up to prevent people from watching them train?
This team of ours has already shown that it can compete with the best in the Prem. Playing Man City at the moment is a daunting task but what has impressed me about this squad of players is that they have never shied away from a challenge.
The partnership of Jiminez & Jota looked really good against Liverpool in the Cup and gives me hope that they can unlock the City defence. Neves (at last) has found form and his shooting boots to worry the City ranks.
I feel that we could earn a draw but in keeping with my New Year’s resolution I am predicting a fabulous victory.
Exactly one year ago today myself, Mrs Wing, Stu, Jenny, BOG, Bedders, Brompton and a whole load of other bloggers were at Oakwell, Barnsley to witness quite a boring 0-0 draw in The Championship. Move on a year and a day and we are at The Etihad playing Manchester City. No matter what the result is tomorrow night our football club has moved on in leaps and bounds in a very short space of time. Thank you Fosun and thank you Nuno and thank you to all the players that pull on that old gold shirt and make us so proud. I love Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club – always have and always will.
And thank you, Newark, for returning to the blog.
We luv ya, dude!!
Good to see you back Newark.
We missed you matey. And Mrs Newark.
I don’t know the details of why you took a sabbatical from the number one Wolves blog and I don’t need to.
But, whatever the reason, I always say to everyone who cares to listen (not many in my case):-
“LIFE’S TOO SHORT!”
We’re not here for long, let’s make the most of what we’re given.
Welcome back to the pack.
I love you too Clive and it has nothing to do with that pink shirt you wore at Sunderland last year.
Great to see you back chap. Although I don’t know you or have met you I have picked up from bloggers who do that you are regarded with great fondness. Here to stay this time old pal . FWAW. FOWB. ….er and Forest!
Hopefully we can get something from a game where most people will write us off.
But write us off at your peril I say,we have proved difficult to beat when we play the top 6 teams,so hoping for at least a point but wouldn’t be surprised if we came away with all three points in the bag.
About the midfielders I would like to see Dendonker get the call.
UTW FOWB.
If seventh place is now our target, this is a must win game, which like last week will not be a problem. Chitey will be thinking “oh no! the Mighty Wolves again, battern down the Hatches”.
Witley.
It’s got to be a 6th place finish this year.
Tottenham are going to lose Son to the Asian cup and Kane picked up a knock last night, so they could be coming downwards as we head upwards.
Yow gotta dream ah ya
Prediction more in hope than judgement
either way its a free hit and Citeh are beatable
COYW
We are in a fortunate position of not sliding down the league further IF we lose tonight. We’ve proved that we can mix it with the ‘big boy’s’ (that will be us in less than a handful of years) and that should bode well this evening. Of course our defence is going to be kept pretty busy tonight but if they can stop the opposition from getting their shots off, as with Liverpool, we stand a real chance of getting something out of this game.
Maybe we should ask to play every game on Monday. Then we will never slide down the league unless we are playing teams just behind us.
Tim, l believe we could do if it was only minimal goal difference putting us in front of a team below us and we were beaten by any team either above or below us.
We couldn’t could we?
Very excited about this game. Just hope the M6 is kind for a welcome change.
We couldn’t be playing City at a better time, for them!
One thing is for sure, we will give them a good game.
Few selection dilemmas. I’ll trust Nuno to get it right. I’d like to see a midfield of Saiss, Dendoncker &Neves with Moutinho to come on for last 25minutes.
Also, hope to see Traore come off the bench to score the winner!
Fingers crossed. UTW
VERDICT BET: Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has been touted as a possible replacement for City’s Fernandinho. Coral offer 33-1 for Neves to open the scoring tonight.
From the mail this morning.
The first bit a load of tosh, the second bit worth a cheeky fiver?
Call me delusional but I’ve just placed a couple of bets with BetVictor. £25 on a Wolves win at 11/1 and £25 for Wolves to win and both teams to score, at 30/1. You know where I stand then! I’m also going for 2-1 for the Prediction League.
The great thing about this fixture is that it is a free hit, we are expected to lose. It’s not just Paul Merson saying it. One thing for sure is that Nuno will go for the win. It won’t be like Mad Mick fielding the reserves at Old Trafford to save us for more winnable games, Nuno will go for it.
Think city are now in there swing, can’t really see anything apart from a defeat, all depends on what the score is at half time, if it’s close then nuno will work his wand.
16 goals in the last two games – they can’t keep that up – or can they? I’ve seem some good Wolves wins at City down the years and am hoping for another tonight. COYW
Oh er misses, tough one is this. Well a lot tougher than the other tough ones.
We had a bit of luck when we drew with them at home, though I think we deserved the point. City have hammered Rotherham and Burton, who? Yeh well we ain’t going there and hiding amongst the blades of grass, no sir!
We know that we are capable of beating them and they know that we are capable of beating them. We also know that they have some outstanding players, so do we!
Were am I going with this rambling? Nowhere it seems.
To win would be magnificent to draw would be excellent to loose would be disappointing.
Saiss needs to be in midfield so we will probably go 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 or 3-4-3 or …………..
Jota and Jim up front with pace to frighten any defence, then at 75 mins replace Jota with Adama to run their defence ragged.
I am going for excellent option but hoping for the magnificent option.
Onward’s & Upwards
🙂
I get the sneaky feeling Pep will be messing with the wind or something to throw us off.
If we get something tonight the Liverpool fans will be cheery, unbeknownst to them though is they will need to beat us on the last day of the season and then the citeh fans will be cheery!
I won’t be winning this prediction league but really fancy a draw here
Utw
Head or Heart or sit on the fence. Head says we have no chance, heart says 3rd time lucky and we win. Fence says draw.
Think I will sit on the fence for this one.
When we played them at home I felt fear and trembling. Now We should have nothing to fear cos we will take points off the top 6. Keep the discipline and be quick in the counter attack. We can just about steal the win.
It’s funny reading Blue Moon City fans forum. A lot of them are wary of us and the way we counter attack which apparently causes problems for their defence. Had to laugh as well when one poster said Wolves might as well be ten men if Traore plays because he is useless. This is answered further down the thread by a couple of other posts ‘ cue wonder goal by Traore’ and ‘that’s it then £50 on Traore to score the winner’. You can still see the old wounds in there from previously long suffering fans. A bit like us really!
Dead right. We share a painful history, City and Wolves and there are lots of similarities, including our black humour.
I can’t say I dislike ’em to be honest, especially when they boo the pompous Champions League tune, but I still wanna stuff ’em. A re-run of ’74 will do for me, ta.

If we can play like we did against Spurs and keep them to 0-0 at half time then we have a chance.
I fancy that we can sneak a goal at some stage and come away with a creditable draw.
The strength of their squad is frightening, having said that I think we will give them a game. I think they will probably have to much for us so I’m going for a loss with a good performance
The team have surprised in a number of games against the top clubs this season, so why not again. Must have a chance if in form
Not afraid of them, I’m honest.
Not changing my prediction for nobody!
Can’t see citeh going 90 minutes without scoring, but so long as Sergio keeps accurately hitting them there posts like game one, I’m convinced we’ll do ’em by the odd goal.
Come on you Wolves!!!!!

Well up for this. Plenty of.hope too. They’re way too strong for us, but it’s only one game and anything can happen.
3 goals on the break.
Almost forgot to post. Toughest game of the season, dreaming of a win, most likely a defeat. COMB
City need to win and I think they will be to strong to handle tonight. Hope we don’t get a drubbing but how many times have I thought and said the same thing only to see us victorious, alas not this time.
Useless fucking referee. Wat can you do. Clearly a good tackle.
Not a penalty either .fuckin give up
Thank you Cheesy! You are saying exactly what I’m thinking!! Clearly we’re playing 12 men!!!
Spot on Cheesie. Pogba can take a player out thigh high without a red. Boly wins the ball and City players bully ref for sending off.
Sterling pulls off same trick that won free kick that led to goal at the Mol – leaves leg in and the ref falls for it.
Commentators are the most biased since Mottie.
I am seriously considering taking out a contract to murder that fucking sky commentator.
What a pompous one sided wanker.
And if he says inevitable one more time I will put my foot through the fucking telly
Go on spikey lad. Fuck the cunts off !
I turned the sound off after twenty minutes, comentator drove me nuts.
Agreed Spikey boy, commentator is in love with City. Impressed with Dendoncker though.
Jammy jammy bastards
Black country born and bred. What we doe like is unjutice and that referee tonight totally bottled it. Totally wrong on both decisions. What a cunt.
Just leaving the ground cheesey… sick as a parrot that twat refs like Craig Pawson can get away with it.
The cynical foul on Jota just warranted a yellow. Foookin injustice.
Poor old adama thankless task but tried his heart out top marks
Congratulations to all ten of the Wolves players who the ref could n’t find a way to send off. Defended with skill and courage against Man City’s twelve men.
And congratulations to our own twelfth man who out did City’s smug but hardly heard support.
Move on .
Accept where we are in the hierarchy at the moment.
City are what we need to be .
We know it .
Nuno knows it.
Fosun know it.
Whatch out Leicester .
We are angry
Oh and just in case the commenter not showing sufficient bias analysis by Ya Ya Toure, carefully orchestrated by Sky host.
There is a very very long list ( even longer than that!) Of good players who are outright cheats.
Watched the game in Barcelona on hesgoal.com. Really hard day at the office after the Boly sending off. Not totally convinced by that decision, but it handed the game over to the home side.
We move on and focus on Leicester on Saturday (and I’ll be there). Just need to get those 11 points or so, soonest.
Three nil to the referee!
Two VERY iffy decisions as discussed already’
Even their third, we should have had a free kick for hand ball before the corner that lead to it.
Having said that, Citeh looked pretty impressive.
