There’s been a fair old kerfuffle over tickets for this one with those who missed out understandably disappointed.
The club have taken some pelters because some feel the loyalty points system is being manipulated, which it definitely is. But in their defence, I’m not sure there’s a system that wouldn’t be similarly gamed.
It’s a shame for those supporters, but now it’s done I prefer to focus on the tremendous backing the team will get when they walk out onto that famous pitch come Saturday lunchtime.
Plenty of fans will have been to Anfield before, but never flanked by 8,500 old gold and black comrades. It promises to be a unique experience.
With such vociferous backing the team will hopefully raise their game as they did at Stoke and push one of the Premier League’s best all the way.
Liverpool
I’ve come to the conclusion that Jurgen Klopp is the perfect modern football manager – intelligent and charismatic with a clear style of play and that magic ability to extract every last drop from his players.
I think much of what Paul Lambert is trying to do at Wolves takes inspiration from what Klopp was able to achieve at Dortmund, a club he of course knows very well himself, and what he’s building at Liverpool.
The German’s team have been fantastic this season but are still 10 points off the pace (owing to Chelsea’s ridiculous run). I hope they can carry on playing well and still be in contention come May.
Not having to contend with European football has been helpful to them, as I don’t think their fairly thin squad could cope with those extra fixtures.
Speaking of congestion, much of how this game will pan out probably comes down to the team Klopp sends out.
They’ve got Southampton in the League Cup semi-final tonight and a crunch game against Chelsea next Tuesday, so it doesn’t seem likely we’ll face their best eleven.
Equally though, I don’t think Klopp would risk sending out the kids against Championship opposition, so I’d expect a sprinkling of big names to make an appearance.
Anfield has been formidable this season with Swansea’s shock victory last weekend the only serious blemish in their 10 home Premier League fixtures. They’ve won seven and drew the other two.
Wolves
Much like his opposite number, Paul Lambert also has the option to ring the changes for the cup. He did just that at the Brittania in the previous round and was handsomely rewarded.

One definite change is between the sticks after Carl Ikeme’s ban was reduced but not expunged. For what it’s worth I’d give Harry Burgoyne the shirt. Investing in that experience for him would be worth the risk.
I really hope Conor Coady gets the nod against his boyhood club. It would be a special kind of cruelty to leave him out, particularly having played so well at right-back.
Hause might get a start but as we already know Williamson is out. I think one or both of Evans and Saville will also get a game, but I’ve got dreamy visions of a thumping Dave Edwards header in front of the Kop so would like to see him feature at some point.
I think Weimann will play (I don’t think he’s cup-tied despite being an unused sub in Derby’s third round win at the Hawthorns). He scored for Villa at Anfield and with Cavaleiro stalling I’d be surprised if Lambert didn’t opt for the Austrian’s tenacity.
Mason, Enobokhare, Bodvarsson or Dicko could all play and I wouldn’t be disappointed with any combination.
There’s been paper talk this week about a deal to sign Costa permanently this month. However that unfolds I can’t see him playing in the Championship next season. It’s unfathomable.
Much like every game, we’ll be hoping for a moment of inspiration from the Portuguese man and if we get a penalty, I’ll feel confident with him standing over the ball.
Paul Lambert
Conor Coady
Predictions
It’s nigh-on impossible to predict how this one will go down. If Klopp really takes the Michael with his team selection I can see us causing them some real grief.
But I don’t think he’ll do that, even with three games to contend with inside a week, so expecting a very tough examination.
This will be a test of Lambert’s ‘play on the front foot mentality’. We came out of the blocks quickly against Stoke though, so no reason to expect this will be any different.
If the conditions are as I expect them to be, I’ll back us to get a replay, just as Plymouth were able to do in the previous round.
2-2.
Up The Wolves!

Getting excited already. Early start on Saturday morning, bacon sarnies and a mug of tea then a couple of pints before the match. 8,300 of us there singing like maniacs – it will be feckin’ brilliant!! Ikeme not playing puts a bit of a dampener on expectations but I still fancy a draw at Anfield and then beat them in the replay.
Liverpool 2
Wolves 2
OODCL
I am confident that we will play to our best and deliver a blow to my favourite manager in the Prem
Sorry Jurgen but:
Liverpool: 1
Wolves: 2
Oh yeah, and
OODCL
Of all the so called “top sides” in the prem, I`ve always had a soft spot for Liverpool, preferring they and no London or Manchester side would win the league or FA cup each season. To visit Anfield for only the second time in my 50 years of supporting my black & gold heroes, seems an immense privilege, and a real treat, what a fabulous day out Saturday is going to be.
In some ways we can`t lose whatever the result may be, only our 8300 fans, and maybe not many of those really expect us to win. The occasion is the winner, and is a taster of what lies ahead should Fosun get WWFC back into the premiership. Underdogs aye we by a country mile, but if the lads turn up, start quickly – who knows. Lets go for an unlikely victory because you never know in the cup – do you? I didn`t think we`d get a corner at Stoke, so what do I know?
2-1to the lads from the Black Country.
You coming in on the train mate …what time do you get in to Lime St…?
Just hope we have the balls and money to buy costa read we have a price agreed beforehand of £13mill and it would be a proper signal from fosun, if we really do not invest in these players when the opportunity comes along we will be going back to the m & m era.
Anyway back to the free shot game against Liverpool think we are good eneough to get a draw and bring them back to the molineux COYW 2 – 2
Agree its a shot-to-nothing kind of game ..just hope we don’t get smacked around. We’ve silenced the Kop before, like after Ward’s goal when they turned on Hodgson. Still adjusting to the missed chance at Carrow Rd of keeping our unbeaten 2017 intact and now suspecting we will lose gamely and narrowly at Anfield, Will be fun to watch the Old Gold & Black (please lets wear it and not the rubbish green stuff) on the telly.
UTW
Difficult day in our house Saturday: my wife is a passionate Liverpool supporter. I too have a soft spot for Liverpool, again ahead of London/Manchester clubs, but obviously will set that aside on Saturday. Hope all 8300 Wolves faithful have a great day whatever the result.
Gut feeling Klopp will send out much reduced starting 11 and Wolves will at least get them back to the Molineaux.
So jealous of you guys going to Anfield. Me and Sue went to the shit (Forest), Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke and Norwich but can’t be at this one. Would have loved to meet up with you bloggers in Wetherspoons for a few pints but hey, there is always round five :-). Hope you all have a fantastic day out no matter what the result. I am going for a narrow Wolves win and I am that confident that I have had a £10 bet at 9/1 at Mark Jarvis. Look forward to reading your posts on Sunday. UTW.
Part time supporters!!!
I know Clive, sorry, but I do have a genuine excuse. It is the mother-in-laws birthday and the party at our house was planned before the Stoke game. We will watch the game on BT Sport and then have a right old piss up to celebrate / drown our sorrows. Oh, and can you believe that the in-laws both support the shit (Forest) ?
I have always been a Wolves fan, never changed my team, never deserted the club with the exception being a period after the Heysel Stadium disaster, I gave up on football full stop after such a tragic loss of life. But Bully came along and I was sucked back into it all watching he that was a God.
I did my Paramedic training 500 metres from Anfield, on the Anfield road and then straight away went right back to do my Instructors course at the same training school, so I have always had an interest in Liverpool. Had I not walked onto the South bank that day in 1961 when my heart was lost forever, I may have supported Liverpool. But I did and so I didn’t. I’m Wolves through to the core
Iv’e been to Anfield a few times with the Wolves, but non can hold a candle to the atmosphere I am expecting on Saturday, the crowd should lift the Wolves and give us a day to remember win or lose.
Great news about Costa and any other potential targets, what an absolute nailed on message that would be for the fans, they would get right behind Fosun after that statement of intent.
On our day, With all 11 players turning up and performing to their capabilities, we are still no match for a Liverpool firing on all cylinders. But, we are capable of holding them and taking them to the Golden Palace, even capable of snatching a goal late in the 2nd half and holding them.
Agree with Thomas on the ticket allocation, it was a shambles, I was able to get 11 tickets and many, many fans in front of me had A4 pieces of paper with 10 – 20 names on. Being greedy I have mine, but it was an unfair system.
So,
Liverpool 0 – Wolves 1
COMB’s
The last time we took this many to an away game we scraped a one nil win
Think we ll probably do the same again !
See you lot for a boozy fa cup breakfast , somewhere far away . Then on to Anfield to cheer the boys in old gold . Fucking fabulous!!
CMON ME BABBIES
I’m getting soooo exited about this one …if we can produce the same performance that we did against Stoke …then we’ve got a massive chance.
I shall be amongst good friends as well as 8300 otter supporters at Anfield ….bring it on AND …..
JUST FOR GOOD LUCK I SHALL BE WEARING MY LUCKY PANTS ….see below
Err. …
No thanks!!!!
I’ll show you Mrs Twix’s then
January 1984 and we are bottom of the top league. Liverpool are top and boast a number of household names. We go to Anfield and Steve Mardenborough’s shoulder assists the ball to the goal. 1-0. Amazingly we hang on and win 1-0. Sadly it does not lead to any great escape. We go down. In 84/85 we go down again 85/86 we go down again. 86/87 we find our selves in the 4th tier and dumped out of the cup by Chorley. Billy Wright is visibly upset by the woeful position the once mighty Wolves (when Liverpool were nothing) are now in. Then along came Graham Turner. Bully. Thommo. Robbie. Floyd Street and more unlikely heroes and we claw ourselves back from oblivion. So on to Saturday and the ferry across the Mersey gets in to difficulty when a burger munching Jan Molby climbs aboard. Luckily Ken Dodd is aboard as well and his hefty consignment of tickling sticks helps balance the ferry by being placed directly opposite Mr Molby. So disaster averted. Meanwhile a startled Ringo Starr is taken aback when a pissed up Dave Hill of Slade sings ‘come and av a goo if ya think yam ard enuff’. Only to fall over after tripping up on a statue of Cilla Black. He recovers in time to see WWFC pull off a thrilling 1-1 draw. So my friends. With 8300 of us out and about round Liverpool it is gonna be a mega day. As previously stated our gang arrives about 9 am. I believe there is another Spoons in the city centre in case the one by lime st is chocca. In fact there is cos I have beeb in it. Just can’t remember what it is called! Over and out. For now.
It is closed now I believe. The Richard John Blacker we are going to is opposite Boots.
Hope everyone with a ticket has a great day at Liverpool. Here in New Zealand we have to rely on ESPN for cup games so still waiting to see which live game we get.
A tough game to predict, the Red’s will be all out to prevent two home losses on the bounce and we will miss Ikeme between the posts so for me a very hopeful 1-1
Hiya Kiwiwolf …where are you based? …. my daughter lives in Christchurch……
I am in Whangaparaoa just north of Auckland
Beautiful part of NZ …..have been to Auckland once before so if we’re up that way again we’ll look you up.
Kiwi, Wolves at Anfield is definitely on ESPN in Aus
Thanks for that. Probably the same here as I think its the only 12-00 UK kick off but still saying “Teams to be Announced”
Gutted couldn’t get tickets. Have a great day out guys,I wonder when the Pool last lost three home games on the trot??
Will losing against the Saints tonight make any difference to the team klippety klopp is going to put out I wonder?
Like to see Ronan start.
The two centre backs for Southampton tonight were outstanding.
Am excited to see it, even if just on T.V.
Either Liverpool are having a mini slump/crisis we can take advantage of, or we will get thumped.
No idea which will happen.
4-2
Have lurked on here for a while without posting (they can’t arrest you for that – well possibly they can depending on who you are lurking near to, but that’s another story)
Unable to get a ticket & anyway from way down in the South West a luchtime kick off there is a pig to get to.
Liverpool will be smarting after tonight, but Klopp will also have at least one eye (& hopefully both) on the Chelsea game.
Fancy us to get a draw out of this
1 – 1 & a probability that I can get up to the replay
I’ve got a ticket going with my brother his lad and few mates. When ever we go away we always say, we hope Wolves score so we can go mental for a few minutes to go way espeacilly with such a huge backing it would be horrible to loss or draw without scoring.
I hope my brothers lad is a good omen Wolves haven’t lost a game away when he’s been in attendance.
I’m not bothered about what Liverppol team they put out or Klopps pears of wisdom or respect…….bollocks to that I just hope we give it our all and the footballing gods make this a watershed in Wolves history as the game that convinced Costa to sign and we go on to promotion, the Premier League and beyond……and no I haven’t been drinking just having my tea finished my shift an hour ago.
My daughter’s partner is a fanatical Everton fan, who says the blue half of Merseyside will be rooting for us, and will bost out loffin as Liverfool see their Title, League Cup and FA Cup hopes go up in smoke in the space of a week.
When indeed have they lost three on the trot, in a week, at Anfield?
Well, the record books are about to get re writ.
Our wistful dreams of the play offs were scuppered, finally, last weekend, but unlike the shit, who have fuck all to play for, we are still in the cup.
I have a really strong feeling we are going to win, at the first time of asking.
We don’t want a fixture congestion!
Anyone who thinks we can stuff ’em 5-1 is an idiot, so I’m going to go for a 5-0 victory!!
The shit have a free weekend coming up, don’t they?
Ha Ha
FOwb
Come on you. ……Wolves
Just thought you’d like to see this picture of how golf clothing is changing……..I cannot be certain but is that a Pringle bikini ..?
To all those going have a great day and make sure Matt doesnt end up having an all day breakfast in spoons (wont be the first time).
Lol … would have been nice to sit down with you Col and have a few rounds of of toasts !
Two more sleeps Matt. See you in spoons. Dead easy to find. I did a “dry recce” on google maps and it will only take you a couple of minutes to walk from the Station.
As if I wasnt pysched up enough for the cup game, I gets this tube in the mail.
Inside, a fuck off sized wall sticker, with the ” I was born under a Wanderers scarf” song on it.
Priceless, absolutely fuckin’ priceless!!
Where the hell I’m going to put it dog knows, and whether ‘er indoors will let me have those two words beginning with a w and a b on display is another question, but what a fabbo gift from a fabbo couple.
Bedders and Julie, many, many thanks.
Really appreciated.
See y’all in May
Bugger! Did I send it YOU? I blame Royal Mail. You try and send something to your mate in Euston and they bloody deliver it to some bloke in Houston.
Did he get the Black Country ranting goldfish as well ?
I am cheering for a win. 2-0. Looking forward to you guys singing your hearts out at the Kop. Have a great day out.
Big day out for the fans and the players PL I reckon will go for it and try to take the game to them and show off to Klopp or as he says on the front foot …
This is Costa in lights and I hope they give him some space to play..Bod and Dicko could be famous in this fixture particularly if we win ..Dicko could even score….if we start well then why not…
I feel some juniors might make the bench and dangerous Dave must feature sometime..
I wish I was there..It’s in everyone’s interest I’m not lol..I won’t be to blame if we loose..
but I’m doubting that actually..
Steers to the sideways and off the line rescue…
2-1to us..
COYW
I will have a bacon buttie and a pint for you mate.
This will be a tough contest, but Liverpool without Mane is doome. So, 0-1 is the likely result. Wolve up!
Exited but wary now after there last few performances
Hope they don’t take it out on us
If we keep.a clean sheet in first half there fans will get unsettled
Been up there twice to see us two defeats not going Saturday I’m Away with the missus for weekend already told I’m watching it on TV
I’m going for a draw take them back to molineux cmon my boys up the wolves
Jealous don’t come close. Not close at all. Thanks go to BT for putting it on the box and you’ll hear me and my Wolves-mad buddies from 300+ miles away if, no, when we score.
Strangely, I’d be less surprised if we get a result at Anfield than I was at Stoke. Liverpool, no doubt, will be prioritising the league although last night’s defeat will have done us no favours. But hey, if our heroes are on song, we won’t need favours.
I can’t possibly predict the team but in the main, those that served us so well at the Britannia, with the obvious exceptions, will probably be rewarded with the start here. And why not?
Reds 1 v 2 Wolves
It’s certainly an important few days in this Wolves supporter’s life.
The PMDG’er is 21 again today.
She says thanks very much for the card Clive and the promise of some of your seed in May.
I don’t quite know what that’s all about but if it’s Clive it can’t be anything untoward… Can it?
My lovely mum is 92 years old on Saturday. Still going strong.
I think there’s something else going on over the weekend but I can’t quite call it to mind.
Something about a football match? I’m sure it’ll come back to me.
Oh! Yes! I remember.
I’m as sick as a very sick thing from sandwell that I’m not going to Anfield but will not hold it against any of you bloggers who picked up twenty tickets each and will be touting them round the bars of The ‘Pool.
As a small consolation I’m taking the PMDG’er to The Rec to see Bath knock seven shades of shit out of Gloucester on Friday night.
And tonight we’re off to our favourite restaurant, The Sign of The Angel in Lacock, to celebrate her special day.
To all you bloggers lucky enough to be going to Anfield, give the boys a big shout from us and enjoy yourselves. I’m hoping for a draw and get them back to Molineux.
A Dave Edwards equaliser in the last minute followed by The Icelandic Clap in front of 8,000+ delirious fans.
1-1
PS. Please drink responsibly.
I never understand a word you say. What is ‘responsibly’?
Mark,
I just deleted the word “responsibly”. It reads better that way.
I will try. I will even have one for you. As I already said I am having one for Steve Showcase , I am glad I chose to go by train!!!
So looking forward to this one.
Happy birthday to Sue… you’re not 21 but you don’t look any older than 24…..
Have a great evening and weekend …
Cheers Mike.
You have a great weekend too!
Good morning Twixfix.
If East Midlands trains are running on time (happens very occasionally – its the Norwich to Liverpool cross country diesel which is frequently delayed) should arrive Lime St around 11.20am or so. I`ll be in need of a Wetherspoon cup of tea, only £1.20 for a mugful, I`ll have eaten my bacon sandwiches on the journey. See you both Sat.
you’ll need to get your skates on if you’re arriving that time…it might be best to go straight to the ground …
I like history. I also like tradition. The Irish in me also likes omens.
That’s why I am going for a hat-trick this Saturday.
In my short life I have seen (from afar) us win at Anfield twice. Both times 1-0. Both times unexpectedly. So this Saturday I expect us to win 1-0, against the odds. Hat-trick.
Both times we won 1-0 it was with a goal from a player unlikely to grace the annals of our club as one of the ‘greats’. So Saturday step forward George Saville (hopefully introduced from the bench and not a starter!) for the winner. Hat-trick.
The two previous winning goalscorers both had an ‘S’ in their initials and so has George. See? Hat-trick!
This will be my third visit to Liverpool, though my first to Anfield, with the previous two occasions being joyous ones and the most recent in August 2016 for my eldest son Daryl’s wedding to his Scouse bride, Jen, when the mighty Steve Bull was in attendance. This Saturday will be a third joyous visit. Hat-trick.
The last time Wolves took over 8,000 fans to an away game was 29 March 2014 (I know the date as twas the day my first grandchild was born) at MK Franchise and we won 1-0. Omen? Goalscorer was another soon to be forgotten player and he also has an ‘S’ in his initials – Liam Sean McAlinden. Omens?
Now I may be older than Methuselah but I am incredibly excited about Saturday. Not felt this way about a match for ages. Taxi picks me up at 7.15am, train from Milton Keynes gets into Liverpool Lime Street 10.11am then the short walk down to find Twixfix and his good lady and their respective lucky pants, Brompton and his son-in-law and London Wolves Loyal – though I think I arrive 10 minutes before him so might wait – in one of about 17 different Wetherspoons (only joshing chief I know which one it is) for some grub and beer. Will the legendary Cheeseburger of Death and his posse come along too? Then onto the ground – maybe via Arkles pub? – to get my ticket from StuWolf for what should be a fabulous day. Rain is forecast for the afternoon but it will be sunshine all the way in that incredible old gold and black end of the ground. I expect it to be noisy, raucous and good natured. I expect to stand the whole time and go mental when we score. Please note WHEN not if.
One final thought – a word of advice for all Bloggers heading for Anfield on Saturday. We don’t want to upset anybody so I implore you all;
DON’T mention the Ward, I did once but I think I got away with it.
p.s. BOG – where are ya? where are ya?
I’ve got your ticket Dave and Bromptons…see you Saturday..
Just don’t keep them in your pants ok?
They’re in an envelope so my pants won’t get too soiled….
A brown envelope? Hope there is two in there for me lol.
Who’s that bloke basking in Bedder’s sunshine?
Bedders, Brompton
I am cautiously awaiting the arrival of said Mr Twixfix, hoping the good lady Twixfix and said underpants are still at home. I shall procede to give said Twixfix your tickets as he will definitely see you before me on Saturday. I depart on the coach at 8-30am on Saturday and with the roadworks on the M6 I may arrive at anytime on Saturday, so that is definitely the safest option. You guys are two rows in front of us, so we hope to share the joyous occasion on Saturday. If the Brown sticky stuff hits the fan (see what I did there) then enjoy the game. Those of you with BT Sports 2 enjoy the game in the comfort of your own home.
COMB’s
Fuck the comfort of home Stu, me and my lad want to be there with you bunch of tossers. If we travel do you think we would pick up a couple of tickets in Whitherspoons ??
If you had said last week, we could have got the tickets buddy. When we draw United away on Monday let me know.
I’d prefer the Mancs at home, have a great day. COYW.
If the drink gets the better of all of there will be 10 going….
Thanks Stu. As I said to you before, when I meet up with Mike Twixfix Oldfield in Spoons I will get the tickets off him there. Cheers mate.
One more thing………can we please play in Gold and Black there’s no reason in the world why we should wear the worsed away (colour) top in history I want to see gold shirts on the Anfield pitch.
It does look as though the Costa deal is going through , although, there seems to be a lot of speculation that wolves may sell him on almost straight away .
Tough one now after Liverpool got beat last night. Klopp will be reading them (and himself) the riot act. They surely can’t lose three in a row at Anfield? I’m a bit nervous that they will find their form and take it out on us. I’m at the Chelsea v Brentford match at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, 3pm kick-off. Luckily I’m going to be in one of the posh hospitality suites with a Liverpool mate and the Wolves match will be on the screen as we arrive. There will be a few pints downed (responsibly of course…)
Young Harry in goal for us. Coady must play, that’s how the psychology goes, put one over his old club. Dicko will break his run. Weimann’s PL experience will be needed in this fixture. Costa will show his class. Sadly I think Liverpool will pull themselves together and try to go all the way in the FA Cup as everything else is slipping away from them. I think we will give a good account of ourselves though. Can we please play in old gold? I hate the baby-shit green away kit. Narrow win to the Reds.
2-1.
This is our Club, these are our colours and he is our future…….
The fans will give us a day to remember! Without Ikeme, with Countinho in his second game back and the Reds smarting from their Saints defeat, I see us going down 3-2. But Icelandic delirium on the way when we score!
We can and wiki win this one 2-1. I have never been to Anfield, I am really looking forward to joining the other 8,299 Wolves fans watch a famous win.
I too like Liverpool and Herr Klopp, so I will feel a bit sorry for them when we dump them ignominiously out of the cup. Dicke will thump the winner, celebrating his new contract.
Can’t wait, this is what football’s about.
Expect a signing within the next 12 hours, gathering pace at Molineux at the moment, if he’s not cup tied we may see a new face on Saturday. (It’s not Costa) but I pray he signs too.
Ben Marshall is the rumour.
First of all, all you lucky buggers going to Anfield on Saturday – have a great day and whatever the outcome enjoy it!
Secondly, I have £20 @ 11/1 for Wolves to win 🙂
Thirdly, I think we should line up with Stearman and Batth at the centre of the defense, Coady and Doc complete the back four. Midfield is a bit more tricky. Jack P has not been at his best for the last two games so who will take his place? Evans, though it would be a big call as he is still not 100% match fit, with that in mind I think Jack P will retain his place. Of course Dangerous Dave is a must to start. Up front I would like to see Bod with Mason playing just behind him. Costa and Cav on the flanks.
I do not fear Liverpool but do respect that they have talent in abundance and could easily give us a thumping. However I have faith that my Wolves will come out on top in a close fought game.
We have the talent, we have the passion and we have the belief.
We can do this!
Onwards & Upwards
🙂
2-1 to the Wolves
Stu . Did you attend the u 23 s v Everton the other night . Was wandering how the new striker looked
He played half a game on Saturday and on what I saw I would be happy with him starting on Saturday. Couldn’t make the match on Monday, but I don’t think he started, could be wrong but I don’t think so.
On Saturday Dave Edwards saw him make a diagonal run from the left and sent a good ball through, but the defender spotted it and luckily for them cleared the ball. He’s pacy and can read the game, once he’s got a feel of the other players style he should be ok.
Is this Duckens Nazon we’re talking about?
Not me, I had forgotten about him, I was talking about Weisman. Now you’ve said that, I suspect Matt is talking about Dukens.
Don’t wish to be a name dropper Stew, but it’s Duckens with a ‘c’ and Weimann with 2’n’s and no ‘s’.
No worries. I’m rubbish at names too. Must be an age thing.
Proppa Name dropper yow am.
So many feckin foreigners, ain’t got time to look up something as trivial as spelling. Any roads like Ola John, Prince Teixeria they are not here long enough to remember spelling.
On my report card, (must try harder) honest.
Actually it was Duckens that I was referring to , but I couldn’t remember his name
Would play Weimann instead of Mason for this one – can play as a no 10, but also wide if changes are needed & has more experience than Mason.
Not fussed between Bod & Dicko up front – neither are scoring at the moment, but both are quite likely to at some point. Bring different challenges to the opposition defence
Looking forward to Saturday.
Ordered my brekkie at ‘spoons already followed by a few beers.
You’ll never get out of the door if you scoff that lot…!!!
With his girth, he wont even get IN the doors, unless they take out a wall or two……….
Oooooooh get you …….. bet you are gutted you aint going mate.
Never mind, see you in May buddy.
Now I am jealous, you bastid!!
Haven’t had one of them since last May, and then I missed out on a couple, before anyone mentions my runner!!!
Oops …… should have read this before I posted my last one lol.
This ones for you Clive, for upsetting the lovely Mr Brompton.
Is that the famous grand slam Wetherspoons brekkie, if so where`s the toast to make the bacon sandwiches, and the giant mug of tea. I`ll have to pass on this Sat morning, have to look after my cholesterol levels at my age.
As it would take me at least 30 minutes to eat all that, have to defer the pleasure, and get a taxi to Anfield straight from Lime Street, maybe catch you in the ground Mr & Mrs Twixfix.
Hope Stuwolf is right about the signing!!
See you there Mark. I will bring a sausage sandwich for you for half time
Is Marshall the replacement for Costa if he goes? Just asking.
Sspect that Marshall is an upgrade on Coady at right back if Lambert decides that Iorfa doesn’t have the right head on
Can play there as well as further forward – PL knows him from earlier days & seems to put some store in that.Don’t have a real problem with this deal (though it won’t take us much more forward than we are now) though really not sure that we need this now – wait till the summer & pick him up for nowt.
I ve got to be honest , Ben Marshall would be a good signing but Conor Coady has not put a foot wrong at right back . In fact I can’t help but think that if he plays on sat then I bet he scores the sort of screamer that he used to score against us for Huddersfield
I am sure Lambert knows the type of players he wants to work with.
I trust him on that.
First job is to stay up, both Weimann & Marshall he must think good additions relative to what he has in mind for that & the future.
I think 5 have gone out so a good window so far, especially if we sign Costa.
As for Liverpool love to see Coady, Bod & Bright score.
Klopp stroking his stubbled chin worried by another defeat!
All this talk of Wetherspoons breakfasts is making me hungry – and very jealous of all you lucky Wolves Bloggers heading for Anfield on Saturday. Enjoy the day and have a safe trip. I will be encouraging my better half to join me in our local for a sedate pie and pint.
Last night’s result will make things a little tougher as Liverpool won’t want to slip up again. I do hope that PL picks his strongest available team and that we just go for it and see what happens on the day. I’d be happy with a draw and then a packed-out Molineux for the decider.
I’ve just reconfirmed my room at the APV DOUGIE….love to meet you and Barbara there on the night May 6th) before the last game (May 7th) at the Mol….
Hi Mike. We’re already booked in and paid for at the APV on 6 May (there didn’t seem to be an option to just make a booking) and looking forward to the Bloggers Ball.
As that seems so far away I’m minded to get a ticket or two for the Rotherham game on 11 March. Would be great to meet up then also.
Of course there is a more pressing engagement before then: fingers crossed for Anfield. Enjoy the trip!
I’ll put that on the calendar…maybe meet up in the North bank bar with Stuey and the others..
Great! Should be a good turnout as I think it is the only home match in March.
I hope the Forest medical team don’t ask him to pass water for a sample, he will just dribble for ages until he loses his ball.
http://www.footballinsider247.com/22-year-old-midfielder-undergoes-medical-at-nottingham-forest-report/
I wonder what the medical team would think of all those Weatherspoon Bacon sarnies!
So only 2 more sleeps to Livermus
Can,t remember when there was so much of a buz around a game & its only 4th round – reckon the City will need prescription medicine if we get to the final
With 8,300 of the barmy army in one of the most famous of stages arat 12.30 there will only be 1 winner WWFC
We’ve had some false starts, but this is a one off Klipperty won’t want a replay and its 1,000,000 years since th’pool lost 3 on the bounce at Anfield we go in to this game with nothing to lose, the tabloids will say we have no chance the bookies reinforce that but who’d of thought Swansea or S’ton would win???
It can be done, it has been done & “thy” will be done
I,d be happy with a desmond in scouseland followed by 95th minute penalty winner by King Costa
So drink irresponsibility, sing your hearts out for the lads & let th’pool know the Wanderers have been in town
COYW
Ps, Hollyoaks omnibus is on E4 at 12.30 Sat for sandwell town inbreds
Now I’m torn. The DOOGooder said to drink responsibly. You are saying drink irresponsibly. What’s a chap to do? It’s at times like this that I tend to think to myself “Now, what would Rod Stewart do?”.
He would remove the words “Responsibly” and “Irresponsibly” and just drink.
Did you say you’re waiting for me at the station tomorrow?
Did I? Can’t remember lol. As you can see ‘spoons from the road outside the station it may be best to meet there. What’s your tipple I’ll have one ready for you.
Bedders will take a small sherry and make mine a babycham
Na fuck it …lager
Matt I will wait as I get in 1011 and think you are 1021. Ken Dodd statue in the station.
Ok bedders ! Keep moving about so I dont get you and ken mixed up
Lol. Will do. Just remember that love is like a violin – even if you fiddle your taxes.
Brompton s getting them in for our arrival , get your order in ! ( must have dug a couple of his krugerrands up from the hard shoulder )
Torn between a Campari and a Cinzano.
Personally, I always start off drinking responsibly, but find that my level of responsibility is inversely proportional to the amount of alcohol consumed.
Then, when I wake up in the morning, I realise I haven’t been very responsible at all. 🙁
I find that I start out with the best intentions in the world to be responsible when drinking. When I wake up next morning and see the mayhem and damage and all the fingers start pointing at me. They all say, “he was responsible”.
Job done in my eyes.
Great conundrum Wolfstroker…including a bit of mathematical formulae to wet the appetite…
Just hope it isn’t lost on a poor referring decision – unless it goes in our favour in which case I’ll be delighted. 2 – 1 Wolves
Just finished organising our coach travel for the Wolves Disabled Supporters Association, we were told we are coach No 68 and that Liverpool coach parking can only tale 70 coaches, so, well done all you fans this is going to be another Wolves away-day to remember.
Wolves secured the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White on a two and a half years contract, the PL puzzle is coming together.
Looks probable that Gibbs-White will be in the squad tomorrow, probably on the bench as PL has hinted at playing some of our youngsters, though I guess that includes Harry in goal.
PL also confirmed that we are in negotiations to make a permanent deal for Helda Costa.
Hi Brompton, please don`t forget the brown sauce, thankyou.
Did anyone else read on the Birmingham Evening Mail website, they`ve just done a top 50 rich list in the West Midlands. The owner of Fosun was at number one, head and shoulders ( and deep pockets) in wealth terms ahead of all the other Chinese owners of the local football clubs.
The Villa owner is obviously spending the parachute payments, as a result of which I`m hoping that it will make my trip to Barnsley next Tuesday a little bit more interesting.
Anfield first though, and home by 6pm for a celebratory curry, life really doesn`t get better than this for a wolves fan.
I’ll look out for you Mark …you may be able to spot me though…I’ll be wearing the Wolves shirt…..
Not long got up been on nights starting to get the buzz don’t think ill sleep much tonight no beer don’t want to sleep in miss the train in the morning got to meet my brother at lads at station 08:00.
No beer and none of the other either total ban although the other only happens on birthdays and wedding these days.
No I’m going to obstain total focused on making the train in morning………well may be a checks one later…beer that is.
To everyone going I hope we have a day to remeber stay safe and enjoy we Wolves fans have had some massive crosses to bear of the years untold suffering to the football gods I say ” you owe us this one ” you really do don’t let 8,500 and many more thousands of people down
0800? That’s a lie in. Mine leaves at 0659.
To get my train I’ve got to get up three hours before I go to bed etc etc
I hope the players have had it drilled into them the enormity of this match.
It’s not just another 4th round cup tie.
It is David v Goliath, it is a real chance to make millions watching around the world aware of Wolverhampton Wanderers, if they were not already.
Liverpool have a vast global following, and this is a statement waiting to be made, not only to the tens of thousands, nay hundreds of thousands, of Wolves fans around the world who cannot attend, but countless Everton fans, and neutrals who cannot abide Liverpool and their “You’ll never walk alone” dirge.
They aint anything special, but by stuffing them on their own muckheap, the footballing world will wake up, good players will be flocking to the Molineux doors, and we shall rise like the proverbial rocket to the summit of the Prem.
Eventually!!
I have not been this excited since the house fell on me sister!!
It’s like Christmas Eve.
I hope Santa turns up then!!
No pressure then.
One more sleep.
Just saying.
win lose or draw,i know its gonna be a day to remember, especially with 8300 fans at Anfield.
With a depleted team thanks to that prick Hoolahan i still think we can get at least a draw.
All i hope now is we turn up as we did against the clay heads and wear the shirt with PRIDE and maybe we can at least get them back to the Mol,with a full house and cheer them on to victory.I’m one of the lucky ones who managed to obtain a ticket, Traveling up on the train from wolvo and hoping to get a beer when we get there.UTW
Well bloggers, can I just say that I hope you have a fantastic day tomorrow. How many teams take 8300 fans away ? I am gutted to miss it but I have BT Sport so I will be watching with my front room decked out in the old gold and black. It is also nice that the crap has stopped on the blog over the past few days. This is a massive weekend if you support Wolves and win, draw or lose, I am so proud to support this football club. I was a fat kid and that is why I support one of the greatest football teams on the planet. Stu, Mike, Dave and all the bloggers who I have had the pleasure to meet, looking forward to round 5. FWAW
Cheers Ian. Will raise a glass to you and Sue. Oh and Paul of course. Lol

No more to say appart from our reserves are better than theirs!!
Actually, that’s probably true Pottsey. We’ll find out today, won’t we.
Here we go! See some of you up there in that Liverpool. Day do dough don’t day?
I don’t think I can take reading more from you lucky bu**ers heading up to Anfield this morning.
But rest assured gentlemen(and ladies), we, the ticketless majority, have been preparing for this game with meticulous precision too, since it’s presence on the magic telebox was announced.
I’ve a 45min walk to the pub where the local Wolves fans congregate to cheer on their heroes in televised fixtures. Just about to take breakfast to properly line the stomach. Ensure Mrs Stroker has plenty of firewood in, don my Wolves regalia and we’re off.
I’m feeling a strange combination of excitement, trepidation and yes, confidence. I know that if we play the way we can, we can beat them. On their own patch. We have it within us. We just need to bring it out on the day. Seize the moment lads.
Have a great day fellow Wolves fans, with or without a ticket. They don’t come around every season, games like this. Savour it……..and drink responsibly. 🙂
It could well be the biggest Icelandic clap yet..Dicko to score ..Bod to score.. Costa MOM..

I want Richard Stearman’s babies.

On second thoughts I’d love his hair as well, I could always get it cut properly.
Awesome performance!
Smartest line-up & substitutions
Proud,proud,proud.
I watched it on Greek cable tv with friends all of whom were stunned at the performance. Most of them were fans of Liverpool but in the end they all congratulated me. I wish I were there!

Fantastic win really stressful the last 15mins.
What a result…
What an amazing occasion and result today, these times for Wolves fans don’t come much better than this. To take 8,300 of our supporters to the citidel of football which is Anfield, a top top Premiership side and Champions League giant and known and respected throughout the world and play only 3/4 of our first team regulars and come away with victory is incredible. I have to take my hat off to the whole team and replacements for the monumental effort today and also the skill craft and guile of our wonderful players. The 100 commitment and bloody tenacious hard graft of our team had to be seen to be believed. Our players covered every blade of grass this lunchtime and made me proud to be what I am ‘a lifelong Wolves supporter’. Talking of supporters, our fans were amazing today out singing the ‘mighty kop’ and and generally silencing the Liverpool fans. To use a well worn cliché the supporters played their part as the teams proverbial 12th man. I wasn’t going to single out individuals but I have to heap praise on our manager Paul Lambert. I like many would have raised eyebrows when examining the team sheet, but his bold selections worked quite brilliantly and so did his replacements even bravely bringing on young Conner Ronan for the last 23 minutes. If I’m looking to make any sense of this amazing results I put it down to desire, put simply we wanted it more than them. Carry the memory of today for the rest of your life for this is what football is all about. I must finally say a big thank you to the Liverpool supporters. The fans were mingling freely before and after the match with no animosity or hostility and no segregation required. The wonderful Liverpool fans were magnanimous in defeat and the ones that I spoke too congratulated me warmly. A great day in the history of Wolverhampton Wanders Football club.
Who’s this liverpool anyway???
Fantastic, absolutely bloody fantastic.
Stearman- Immense, who are these feckin idiots who keep slagging the bloke off? His performance along with dangerous Dave’s was awesome. Costa? caffeine injection of the highest octane, ran himself into the ground(s) as did Dikho, never looked like scoring…but the scally’s didn’t know that!….or how deadly Weinmann was!
Savile travelled around the midfield like the predator he shares his name with, and Evans was successfully in top-gear, while Hause looked and played like a young Bob Hazel and did Docherty or Coady allow a single cross from the by-line? I can’t remember it happening….
The subs, Mason, Ronan and especially Bodvarsson installed exactly at the right point by Paul Lambert who will rarely mastermind a win quite so perfectly as this one.
Oh and we had a goalie there too, Harry somebody-or-other can’t be sure though, the guy was hardly mentioned…..
I just hope there’s enough room on that cup for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
Fantastic…..lets just enjoy this guys…..Fantastic!!!
Oh and thanks to Fred who gave me 18/1 for the win as long as the scallys got a goal. So thank you kindly Divock Origi (whatever that means) you bagged me £90 quid with only 9 minutes to go. Good on ya son!
Snowy . Absolutely spot on . Liverpool fans were great , but best of all , I’ve just been reading the tweets from the wolves players and they were just as proud of us as we are of them
Strength in the pack
Fuckin wolves ay we
3.30 am kick off time on board the Pand O cruise across the North Pacific to Hawaii from San Francisco.
The bloody game was not screened on board!’
Pissed off or what! Wi fi very intermittent.
Reawoke at 7am tuned cabin tv to Sky Sports news and YIP bloody YEE,
Amazing – well done you Wolves and fans.
Brekkie never tasted so good guys
BOG
Y’know BOG. Many of us would fancy a nice Pacific cruise. But I would have swapped a life on the ocean wave for a ticket for Anfield, that’s for sure.
Yes Yes Yes its magic you know…
BUT!!!
Why cant we play like this in the League.. ??
Fuck the league ..we re concentrating on the cup this season
For get everything
As a Wolves fan
A day to remember.
No clean sheet lets not get carried away !
Had a good feeling about this game though i didnt jinx it with one of my predictions and reading the blog maybe we were all on this one. Dont think its that significant that we havent torn up the league. Fosun’s quick fix didnt work but PL looks the right person to iron things out and is cutting an impressive figure. Fosun also look ready now to go again with more backing. Can see us going into next season in much much better shape.
I spent a couple of minutes of reflection at the Hillsborough memorial before the game yesterday. It was lovely to see Wolves scarves and flags there as well as the Liverpool tributes.
Yesterday was one of the best days of my footballing life but —- It’s still only a game.

Comeeeeeeeeeee Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Youuuuuuuuuuuuu Wolvessssssssssssssssssssssss
Not long got up, where do I start yesterday ranks along the birth of my daughter it was that good I said the footballing Gods owed us and boy did they deliver.
My hands are red raw my voice is horse but in my 50th year I will not recieve a better present than that winning at Anfield going 2.0 up and celebrating with 8,299 other long suffering Wolves addicts.
If we don’t go any further in the cup it will not take anything away from yesterday fro the Everton cabbie who dropped us off the the words ” I hope you beat the Red site ” ringing in our ears to the cabbie that picked us up who said ” lads you deserved that and I hope you go all the way ” to a couple of Liverpools fans in the Irsh theme pub wo were full of praise both of the team and the support Wolves have.
I lost my hat for the first goal no in fact I threw it in the air and it disappear somewhere into the lower tear of the stand.
I explained to the Liverppol fans I gave them an insight into supporting a club like Wolves I said as I watch the goals over and over again, ” you’ll have to if give me I said we haven’t had much to cheers about he last 5 years and fare play they lauaged and took it with good grace.
When they had finished there drinks they stood up patted me on the back said well done lads have a good night you deserve it.
Brilliant, the team Stearman to I’ve not been his biggest fan but he was faultless yesterday and what a goal wolverhampton born and breed every player stuck to there task and we made Liverpool look ordinary yes ordinary and people will says but he wasn’t playing and he wasn’t playing no matter Klopp thought they were good enough to beat us so fare do’s.
Speacil thanks goes to the other 8,299 Wolves addicts they sang all through the game the best being, ” where’s your famous atmospher ” and ” shall we sing a song for you ” and my fave ” wanky, wanky, wanderers ” you were amazing thanks for a day ill rember the rest of my days.
The future.. it’s looking good to me.
Some thing that I would like to get off my chest ,
I don’t know if any wolves players read this blog , but there have been a few on here including myself who have been very critical of George Saville .
Well mr Saville, yesterday you were immense !
Matt,
You and a few hundered others have taken to the twitter and blog sites to say exactly the same thing. We pay good money to be entertained if we are not we have the right to say so or criticise.
But, by the same token we must stand up and be counted when we see those sort of performances, Saville has been praised in many quarters for his work rate and effort yesterday.
If we are wrong we have to be honest enough to admit it.
Well done George Saville yesterday.
Good of you to own up, London Wolves Loyal. There’s a fair few on here would go to hell and back in a handcart if they see George Saville’s name in the starting line-up. I’ve seen him play a couple of good games in a Brentford shirt against the Wanderers, and clearly Lambert rates him, and he’s shone against Stoke and Liverpool. It’s interesting to see Lambert getting the best out of players many had written off.
I had a sneaky feeling that the second half against Fulham was a turning point for this side. Thoroughly outplayed in the first half and going in 1 – 3 down the writing was on the wall. The fighting spirit they showed that day (even though they only managed to draw) is starting to blossom, and they were clearly not second class against both Stoke and Liverpool. With it looking like Costa will be signed in the next couple of days we’re going to have some interesting (and exciting) attacking options next season when Graham and Zyro return.
As for the rest of this season Lambert’s going to get them to play in a much more organised way and he’ll experiment with some of the youngsters to test their mettle. He’ll be concentrating on developing the nucleus of a team that will challenge for automatic promotion next season. Hopefully the moaners will now stop groaning about Fosun’s parsimonious ways. I think with Costa they’ve nailed their colours (old gold and black), firmly to the mast, and shown that they’re in it for the long haul.
It’s not all going to be a bed of roses for the rest of this season as this is such a difficult league, with virtually every club capable of a surprise result. But I’m firmly of the opinion we’ll see some good attacking football and the general direction will be “Onwards and upwards”.
Great result! Makes up a little for 1976! Hopefully this leads to the demise of Klipperty Klopp Kop Flop! Remember what happened to Woy after our last victory there. This victory made even sweeter when you see stuff like this eejiot!

Up the Wolves! Come on the old Gold n Black!
