Listening to Neil Warnock live on Talksport on Sunday probably underlined why he thinks us Wolves fans are such a miserable lot.
When talking about promising young Englishmen to knock on Fabio Capello’s door, the QPR gaffer – in somewhat infectious Yorkshire brogue – said: “I love Matt Jarvis me. I wouldn’t swap him for any other winger in the country at the moment, that’s how highly I rate him.”
Good old Warnock!
His opinions of the game immediately fast tracked their way to the top drawer, alongside Andy Gray’s, Charles Ross’s, and John Lalley’s.
Five minutes later and Micky Quinn was looking ahead to our six pointer against West Ham at the weekend.
“The thing about those Wolves fans,” said Warnock….
…Go on Neil, don’t stop at Jarvis. Preach man, preach!
“They aren’t half demanding. They’re some of the most difficult fans to please that I’ve come across.”

Oh do f**k off you poisonous little dwarf. Get back on your tractor and go home, where there’ll be a tape of Arsenal’s FA Cup goal against Sheffield United on your doorstep. Hah!
Warnock does at least make a point though, even if I don’t agree with it.
We’ve all got to rally round and make the Molineux the cauldron it was against Stoke City on the opening day of the season.
Every time that cretinous ‘blowing bubbles’ song pipes up, we drown it out like we did the equally gay ‘Delilah’ anthem.
Every time the referee gives so many outrageously bad decisions (which will surely happen yet again) we will let him know what we think of him.
But above all, we must have faith in our own convictions, and stick to the pre-match rituals that got us here in the first place.
Once upon a time, I’d be more than likely to have a crafty tug over SM:TV on a Saturday morning, depending on the length of Cat Deeley’s skirt.
So when we’d end up losing to some non-descript opposition later in the day at Molineux, I’d take it quite personally when their fans would sing: “Wanky, wanky, wanky, wanky Wanderers.”
It was as if they knew something and were mocking me directly.
So from that day forth, Saturday morning tugs were off the agenda, due to the obvious bad luck they were bringing the team.
Then there are those feelings of ‘imbalance’ that often need addressing on a match day, of which I can cite many examples, but will leave you with one.
The double thigh nudge: I must nudge the thigh of the bloke sitting next to me with my own thigh, if I have already done so by accident while cheering on the lads. This is because twice is even, and one nudge is odd, thus making me feel uncomfortable otherwise.
Not as odd and uncomfortable for the bloke sat next to me mind, who probably thinks I’m a homosexual who wanks over Ant and Dec.
So this convoluted waffle is a rallying call I guess – a simple equation that we must all follow.
If we all stick to our strange idiosyncrasies before and during the game, and add that to 90 minutes of non-stop support, we will definitely beat the Hammers and give Neil Warnock something else to talk about.
Just don’t stick Sky Sports News on this Saturday morning in case Charlotte Jackson is on.

Well I`m 60 years of age in a week and a half. I really am an old fart. Been going down the Molineux since they gave away free tickets for the reserve matches when I was a nipper at junior school.
Keep the faith, well then, over time I`ve changed the wife, my job, my house, but never my football team. Out of darkness cometh light, keeping the failth is what draws me and thousands other wolves fans down to the games, season after season, year after year.
All we ask is for 100% effort, commitment and players fit for purpose are picked. As for the totty on Sky – bring on the short skirts and tight tops, at my age the more cleavage the better, so why don`t those pre match dancers strut their stuff in front of the Billy Wright every week? A 3-1 win on Saturday please Mick and players, so I can drive home to Nottingham a happy old fart on Saturday night.
I’ll come clean, I quite like Neil Warnock.
In fact, if Clive got his wish and MM got the sack tomorrow, he’d be my leading contender for the job (although he probably wouldn’t want it judging by his comments and the fact QPR could be taking our place in the Prem next year).
My Saturday ritual has remained the same for the last seven years: Drag myself out of bed at silly o’clock, aimlessly run around a football field for 90 minutes, drive like a man possessed back home, 3.5 second shower, 10 seconds to change, 15 seconds to wolf down a sandwich, 5 seconds to berate my old man for rushing me, sit in traffic on the Penn Road, mad-clamber to find a parking space, 1 hour 25 minutes in the Clarendon watching my dad neck 4 pints of mild, followed by a power walk to Molineux with cramp shooting up the back of my leg as I didn’t have time to warm down after playing.
I love matchdays.
Thomas, I know you love me, but why would I be your leading contender for manager????
I know what you meant, but work is slow today, and having missed a league game this weekend, there really is not a lot to write about. Case in point, see Ben’s blog above, talk about Waffle!!!!
My leading contender would be Arsene Wenger.
Yeah, I know there is a little detail about him already being under contract at Arsenal, but I would love him to be at the Mol.
His moaning would fit right in with us, and he would not understand a word of Black Country. Bit like McCowardly, actually!!!
At least he’s had some success.
Anyroad, I’m off.
FOMM and WB
Our next Manager just has to be someone who knows what he’s doing, a master tactician, a saviour, bargain spotter … look no further than Roberto di Matteo
On the ‘tug or not to tug’ debate Ben, i reckon Charlotte Jackson’s got falsies meself. Try to bear that in mind if you find yourself waivering, it might just make the difference.
As far as next manager is concerned Thomas, i reckon it will be our most impotrtant decision for many years, much more than any one individual signing. Personally, i’m hoping Morgan will make an inspired choice based on his knowledge and experience in the game, not one of the usual suspects on the merry-go-round. Here,s three young managers i really rate. Whether they are ready yet i don’t know but i reckon they’re rising stars who will make a big impact somewhere.
Eddie Howe- Bournemouth. Dean Holdsworth-Newport County. Sean O’Driscoll-Doncaster, a Wolverhampton boy as well.
The worry though is if we’re in the PL, then they might be caught out like Ince was at Blackburn (I do have a lot of time for him as a manager, just needs more of this time). I’d rather a decent or up and coming continental top flight manager. Someone like Christian Gourcuff or Frederic Antonetti. This is after Mick has resigned after winning us a treble of course.
Perth Glory just sacked their manager and made him Director of Football, promoting the assistant. Please can Wolves NOT do this.
Personally never fancied Ince as a manager great player though he was. I think Wenger, Muourinho(? spelling) show you don’t need to have played at the top, it’s brains that count. Promote the assistant? Didn’t know we had one.
Hey t’OM ..is that the same Perth Glory that lost at home to the Roar last week 🙂
