It’s difficult to know what fact is more surprising.
Neil Warnock being shortlisted for the British Sports Book Award in 2008, or Neil Warnock being shortlisted for the Wolves job in 2012.
Despite seven promotions on seven shoestrings, not a lot of fans appear to like the man whose boots Mick used to clean.
But if any bloke would use a dissenting blog or two as motivation, Warnock would appear to be he.

Factor in no loss of love for one of his main challengers for the Molineux hotseat and Moxey and Morgan might have stumbled upon a spicy interview process.
It was Alan Curbishley who relegated Warnock’s Sheffield United on the last day of the 2007 season when West Ham beat Man United through Carlos Tevez, ‘football’s equivalent of a murderer on bail.’
Warnock never forgot. Neither did he forget Curbishley’s agent Phil Smith calling him before that final weekend, warning about a ‘flat cap collusion’ with Wigan, whom the Blades would eventually lose to.
He said: “It made me laugh. I was still thinking about Fergie presenting Curbishley with those first class tickets to New Zealand the year before (as a present for his last game as Charlton boss).
“Curbishley must hope he gets United on the last game of every season. In 2005/06 it was plane tickets, the next season it’s six players missing from Ferguson’s first team,” added Warnock.
Whether the ‘Two Ms’ realised this when they hastily drew up their shortlist is doubtful, but one thing is for sure…
…Warnock will be obsessing over finally getting his own back.
Whatever the interview process entails, such history might just make Warnock an unlikely winner from this whole process – once the DNA tests come back from the lab of course.
Steve Bruce will certainly have a say, and will be doing so right now. But his Mick-like ability to marginalise better players that he actually bought (for Hammill and Guedioura read McClean and Gardner), and an unwanted reference in the form Sunderland’s current Premier League position, the job might just be down to two.
And with all three men trying desperately to shake off stigmas in a London hotel this weekend, it might just come down to who wants the job more. In which case, there’d only be one winner.
That most of us don’t want Neil Warnock wouldn’t bother Jez Moxey either. It certainly wouldn’t bother the Yorkshireman, who’d go at it like a ‘red rag to a bull.’
If he says anything like the following in his pitch – having gone through his career achievements as a manager – then Moxey and Morgan’s faces are bound to be a picture.
“I realised that what I do best is to make poor players play averagely and average players play well. I make people believe.
“My challenge is this: With very little money, I want to finish above teams who have got everything – everything, that is, except the one ingredient they need, which I can provide. You can’t patent that ingredient.”
If Morgan and Moxey choose not to judge a book by its cover, then this managerial race might not be as nailed on as many might think.

Although my preference remains Curbishley, I wouldn’t throw my toys out the pram if Warnock was given a deal to the end of the season.
Like him or loathe him, at least the intent would be clear with his appointment.
A motivator, capable of immediate impact.
He’s also got a point to prove against QPR, which would spur him on to work even harder.
His record in the Prem worries me, but I’d take him over Bruce everyday of the week.
Agreed, although I wouldn’t see it as something progressive. If he kept us up great, but in the same way as proved to be the case with MM, would he turn us into a team that wouldn’t be fighting it out season after season? That I’d doubt – as Adam/Ghost Goal points out below, we’d just have to expect more of the same.
Curbishley would offer a new and interesting direction given sufficient backing. Bruce would slam the whole operation into reverse, he’s clueless.
I agree Thomas – I think Curbs is the best option, but Warnock DOES have the balls to shake things up and face up to a relegation battle.
If the worst happened as well, then you’d have to fancy Warnock to get us promoted.
I think Bruce is one of the most overrated managers I’ve seen in a long time, like Roy keane – I wouldn’t fancy him at all.
Isn’t he just an older version of McCarthy?
Except half the Wolves team hate him due to the Barton thing.
A 63-year-old who has never kept a team in the Premier League.
Talk about progress.
Put it this way, I’d rather Clive got the job.
I would rather Clive got the job than any other human being on the planet.
I’ll second that
Clive is human?
I can’t lie. That did make me laugh out loud or LOL, if you will.
I look forward to Clive’s mid-afternoon response to this string.
Hallo boys, I’m back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If McCarthorse is a dinosaur, then Warlock is his father.
Certain people should never be let out in public without a muzzle, and he’s one of them. ( I’m another, but that’s for another blog!)
Every bad thing that has been thrown at McDickhead, multiply that tenfold for Warlock.
If he holds a grudge against West Ham, what does he hold against us for thrashing his Sheffield Utd team, with their “I never miss penalties” player ( forgot his name ) at Cardiff?
The man is even older than Scooped, and should be put out to grass.
After he got fired by QPR, the paper talk was of his retirement. So why hasn’t he retired?
Too old, too bigoted, and totally fuckin’ useless.
No way, never, and any other negatives you can come up with.
Now, that other candidate you mention above, namely The Me, well, yes I’d vote for him in a heartbeat.
After twenty years of Champions League football, there would an unveiling of The Sir Clive of Wolverhampton stand, which would be filled to the maximum 95,000 capacity every week, even for reserve matches.
Son of Bully would be a national hero, beating his dad’s scoring record…in one season…and we would be feared across the continent.
We would have all home grown players, no Irish, and apart from Hennessey, we would make up the entire England team, winning World and Euro cups galore.
So, it’s easy.
Get on your twit and facial books to moxey and Morgan and convince them to hire me.
And I’d give a free season ticket to Hamsterlet.
FOWB
All ready for me to take over, I’d just about be old enough by then 😉
Michael Brown, just for the record 🙂
Any football based reasons behind that though Louie? Or more to the point, football reasons in favour of another candidate. This whole affair appears to be based on which candidate is less dislikable.
Warnock would appear to be the most dislikable for sure!
It all feels a bit underwhelming doesn’t it?! I’m trying to find some positives, and there might just be one or two out there, that’s all!
I’d base it on the fact that he has had three teams in the top flight and failed everytime. This time he even got money to spend but wasted it on SWP, Barton, Traore and Jay Bothroyd.
He’s also an extremely unlikable person and takes the chance to whinge about anything. I’d rather have soeone with a bit of integrity.
At the moment the only candidate seems to be Curbishley. He doesn’t shout his mouth off, he has a good record and he might get some bloody consistency out of our players.
I don’t like Warnock one bit, but I would stop short of saying he doens’t have integrity, I think you need to be a bit more careful with your language Louie
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Bramall_Lane
There are definite question marks over his integrity…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Bramall_Lane
I’ve said before, there’s more integrity in one of Mick McCarthy’s discarded toenail clippings than Warnock has in his entire body. He should go to Leeds, they were made for each other!!
See Sleachy’s posts
If we go for Warnock I’m a Man City fan. Simple as that
That’s a great shout.
Walsall for me guys!!
Call yourself a fan? Enjoy Mancini.
Warnock can do a job for Wolves and if he gets the job, he gets my support.
We’ve got 13 games. It’s about finding someone who can bring the best out of our players while tactically setting the team up to deal with Premier League opposition.
I trust Jez and Steve on making the right decision for our club.
It’s ok, he’s gone to Leeds. I can carry on supporting Wolves.
And yep, I defs call myself a fan. Do you call yourself gullible ever?
Nooooooooooooooooooo …….
I really dislike Warnock and think he is a stubborn horrible old man. Curbs would be my choice (out of the list available, but even so he doesn’t excite me) but to be honest as long as whoever comes in keeps us up, thats all that matters. So if Warnocksrash, arrogant manner actually gets the team playing better than great – i just dont see it personally.
Survival – by any means. That is what the rest of the season is about!
I know it isn’t going to happen and he hasn’t got any Premier League experience as a manager, but I’d love to see Lee Clark given a shot. Maybe the relegation battle might be a bit too much of a gamble, as I’m sure will prove the case for Morgan and Moxey, but I look at what Lambert and Rodgers have done at Norwich and Swansea, and can’t help but feel I’d like to see a bit of that at Wolves. As I said though, it isn’t going to happen.
i don’t want him after reading this from a huddersfield fan
http://www.sabotagetimes.com/football-sport/lee-clark-everything-wolves-and-leeds-need-to-know-about-the-available-gaffer/
He’s no better and less successful than McCarthy. Its a retrograde step. He had Millions to spend at QPR and still turned out a team that was really no better than us. If Warnock gets it I’ll immediately be starting the get Mick back campaign!
To be brutally honest, the selection will decide on whether I renew my TPS membership next season. If Warnock is appointed I most definitely will be watching the matches on my laptop and not travelling 3 hrs to Molineux. On the other hand, if Curbishley is appointed I WILL renew my TPS membership. If Bruce is appointed, I am going to need a new laptop!
The players hate him, the fans hate him – just what we need a man to divide the club in desperate times. It would be an awful, awful appointment and I would take it very personally if Jeremy and Stephen choose him as the next Wolves manager
Do you ever have anything constructive to say?
Yes plenty – just not about Mick McCarthy, Terry Connor or Neil Warnock. I would like to see a young dynamic manager drive this club forward, I believe that football should be an entertaining, passionate experience, not an angry, gritty drive towards some uninspiring goal. Look at Swansea, look at what they’ve achieved – then look at Wolves. We are a great club, the pioneers of European football, supporting Wolves should be an honour and a privilege. Under Neil Warnock, admitting you support Wolves will be greeted with the same reaction as admitting to sleeping with your 15 yr old sister. I’m not suggesting we bankrupt the club, but for God’s sake can we not make an appointment that will excite the fans and give us an identity and a vision for the next five to ten years. Rather than lurching from one journeyman “old hand” to another.
Constructive enough for you?
We all want that Tafkag! Unfortunately, our fabled ‘M’s were basking in their condescending, passive indifference when most of us were screaming out for action sooner to faciliate such progression. This whole season has been all about ‘lurching’, from on-field progression to stadium redevelopment.
That’s why we are stuck with three managers to choose from, none of whom filling us with a modicum of excitement. Kind of appropriate in the context of this season.
Yeah – apologies if I come across as negative, I just completely disagree with Jez Moxey on almost everything. I really, quite passionately wish that he would just f*ck off
i believe it goes something like FOJM?
FOJM – the title of my autobiography
You completely misunderstand where we are and what we need to get out of this situation…
No, you completely misunderstand the concept of how successful football clubs achieve their goals.
If i owned the club i would try to get David Moyes, he will leave Everton one day for a club run well, Moxey and Morgan run Wolves great and have ambition albeit the long way round
Wouldn’t come in a million years.
Yes, he could progress Wolves but he’d eventually hit the same wall he’s hit at Everton.
I think Moyes has done enough to be considered for one of the top four jobs personally, but more glamorous alternatives will continue to be selected above him no doubt.
We would only know that if the two Ms spent good money to try to get him, Man u job is a long way off so where else would he go
Well once Harry takes the England job…theres always Spurs…or maybe Chelsea after AVB…plus once the new Glasgow Rangers have been formed and have cash to spend he may want to head back to Scotland to collect some silverware!
He would see us a very much a backward step…but would be a very interesting choice mind you!
Haven’t you heard? Harry’s ruled himself out of the England job. He’s gonna be Glasgow Rangers’ tax advisor
Check this out for all you Curbishley fans
This followed yesterday’s sessions with bookies’ favourite Alan Curbishley, whose interview in London was later compromised by his son Michael using his Twitter account to suggest all had not gone well.
Listen to this week’s football podcast
He claimed his father had returned from the talks wanting the post but not confident about his prospects – although an embarrassed Curbishley Jnr swiftly deleted the tweets when they triggered a huge reaction among followers.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m living in a state of terror at the moment.
I just don’t trust Moxey & Morgan to get this right at all!
I genuinely think that if there was a match this weekend the South Bank would be chanting “You can shove your Bruce & Warnock up your arse” at some point.
I’m not saying that’s right, but that’s the atmosphere those managers would walk into.
Do the club realise this? Probably not, I fear.
So we risk a situation where we’ve given £1m to Mick and done nothing to improve the mood.
Scary times.
Don’t worry, Warnock is now odds on for the Leeds job
Phew!!! I wonder if Moxey and Morgan ever read this blog? If not – they bloody well should. They remind me of Ostriches!
Beginning to look like the 2 M’s had no plan B either heading for a Hull City/Dowie style fuck up.
My early bird has arrived with hunpty and dumpy trying to get the cheapest deal they can.
I keep looking at it and thinking bin it-they will choose wrong man and it’ll all go tits up. Over 50 years on My mood is still linked to my team. Sunday still haunts-that cock-up by Johnson and Hennessey flapping.
But then I realise nothing has changed I’m Wolves till I die.
Just sort it.
UTW
FOTC AND??????
I could have saved the time in doing that blog with those three words Alf…Just sort it!!! I’d love to be able to shout that at Steve and Jez!!
My thoughts on who we should bring in: http://www.sabotagetimes.com/football-sport/wolves-fan-wants-birminghams-chris-hughton-but-will-take-curbs/
Thanks Ben-guess we are awaiting Clive to wake up and put his penneth in.
? Why are we looking for a quick fix now when we could have sorted this months ago-I know we are in dire straits but why the hell didn’t hunpty and dumpy do something. QPR game the writing was on the wall,
In great big letters. DEFENCE, DEFENCE, DEFENCE.
Warnock can do a job until the end of the season and I believe keep us up. But he is in no way the longer term solution. Can’t abide the bloke either. So pleased we beat Sheff United at the Millenium Stadium!
Curbishley is my choice for the longer term and believe he should be given the role from now, even if it meant dropping down a division first, although I think Curbishley would still keep us up……just!!
The problem is, moxey and morgan don’t know football.
Business yes, football no.
They couldn’t recognize a good manager if he bit them in the arse. If SAF interviewed for the job he would be rejected.
All moxey is interested in is the bottom line, and what’s in it for him.
Nothing else.
He was like that at Stoke, and weasels never change their spots.
Neitrher of them appear to listen to fan’s opinions, so why waste our breath?
I’m convinced moxey can’t even read, too much grease rolling down his forehead, so expecting him to look at, let alone understand, our blog, is a forlorn hope.
Whoever we get will not be the popular choice, so we will have to suck it up, throw our prayer mats on the ground, face east and pray for a fuckin’ miracle.
Oh, the joys of being a Wolves fan!!!
FOWB
So Clive did you bite greasesleeze on the arse?
Warnock is the right man for the job – the job being – get Wolves to the end of the season and keep us in the Premiership.
Let us take stock then, in the summer.
Warnock til the summer
Then a new manager
Sorry that is not Steve’s comment – for some reason it defaulted to him
“Warnock is the right man for the job – the job being – get Wolves to the end of the season and keep us in the Premiership.
Let us take stock then, in the summer.
Warnock til the summer
Then a new manager
Thanks Dave. I was wondering when I said that! I dont agree with you though. I believe Curbishley is the best of a bad bunch. Key is the remit – that is keep us in the Prem and then review!
Out of the 3, i’d take Curbs. Warnock is not progression and Bruce would be a step backwards.
My biggest worry is that the final decision comes down to 2 people who i don’t feel have the clubs interests as their main priority. I’m sure it’ll come down to whoever is cheapest.
Out of the three I’d take Curbishley, though like others, I’d prefer young and hungry…
Lee Clarke, Ferguson, Poyet or Solksjaer, accepting a year in the Championship to rebuild.
Bruce or Warnock would be suicidal for the club.
Poyet is the man. It won’t happen but just look at his playing record, his contacts and the job he is doing at Brighton. We lack the courage
Yes, would love to see Poyet in charge, but agree our board lack the courage
Nor the time Robin! Considering the mess those 2 have made of the ground, it shouldnt surprise me that they’re making a proportionate mess of this whole saga. the only reason they’ll drag their feet over an announcement is to give them time to concoct some reactive PR to it all to cover their sizeable arses.
Yep I agree and I dislike moxey enough to join Clive’s campaign, to not even give his name a capital…….
My order of preference is Curbishey>Warnock>Bruce – Personally I feel that Warnock is at best aound the same level as McCarthy was, and as for Bruce…
Not gonna even consider it!
Nearly had a heart attack going on the BBC website and seeing a big picture of steve bruce. Thought the worst had happened. If it does. I’ll be going swiftly to this site:
http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/
I agree. Bruce couldn’t manage to get a side with players like Gyan and Sessegnon to score goals. How can anyone believe him to succeed at Wolves? No, I want Curbishley to take over Wolves. He has what it takes: knowledge of the game.
Karlir Im glad you now see reason my good man. I loved your stats though!
COYW
Here’s a nightmare scenario to consider. Hunpty and Dumpty get turned down by the current candidates
And TC is in charge for the rest of the season. Now that’s a real concern!
Don’t even joke about that Alf. I had that Friday feeling until you just posted that!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Warnock and Bruce were both sacked on the same number of points as Wolves (with better financial backing) – either appointment would look a bit ludicrous.
Greasy reports they are making progress. The Pope is chosen quicker. Think my earlier nightmare scenario might be moving to its conclusion. Whoever is in the frame has to think about it over the weekend-this is not good. It’s going to be about money and length of contract. It’s got fuck all to do with getting the right man. Who blinks first.
It really doesnt fill you with confidence does it! Jez and Steve having boys time and making progress! Will their bromance last or will they disagree on who to bring into bed with them to fill Micks old berth?
I really do fear we will end up with a Warnock or a Bruce…and that the opportunity to appoint a genuine premiership manager will pass us by…certainly if you read anything into Curbs sons tweets it looks like he is out…and no chance of even bringing in an old war horse like Walter Smith to keep us up…and then spend next season steadying our ship…whilst we take our time over a long term option!
‘Back to the Championship’ it is then!
Trying to work out why it didn’t go well for Curbs; he wouldn’t have messed up on a football issue as Poxey & Moron don’t know anything about football. Perhaps they argued over the duration of the contract or salary? He’s known to be a quiet man so I guess he may be poor at interviews and was pessimistic afterwards when talking to his son.
If we can’t have the ‘good’ candidate, we certainly don’t want the ‘bad’ or ‘ugly’ options as that leaves us no better off than with Mick. I’m afraid the PL dream is over and am trying to lighten my mood by contemplating the future pleasure of attending another play-off final after next season in the championshit.
I would only want Warnock if we were in the Championship
Got to be curbs for me even if we go down,i know this sounds grim but you can be sure if we
did go down with curbs i’m sure he will build a side to challenge midtable and not scramble
amongst the bottom of the prem like we have been the last three seasons.
Warnock please NO, it would be just as bad as it was with mick giving mick some credit worse.
so curbs for me.FOTC.&WARNOCK-BRUCE.
I will refuse to watch WWFC again if we were to employ Warnock. The guy is an idiot, a cheat and a thoroughly objectionable person. There is no room for him at our club.
Please nooooooooooooooooooo to Warnock he is a championship manager and also a step down from McCarthy. I will never stop supporting Wolves ever until my last breath but i will not go to anymore games if that is the avenue Moxey and Morgan take us down. They have a real chance here to steer this club in the right direction by appointing Curbishley. This is the man to take Wolves to the next level which is a regular place in the prem possible top ten finish some seasons and some decent cup runs. Load of crap well take a look at stoke if you think this is not possible. We all dream for more but I’m being realistic here ! That surely has to be in their minds or why go spending money on the Mol and training ground. Once we become established and the ground is finished the more Fans are there the more income the further progress on the field. It aint f**king rocket science but hey I’m a NUMPTY YAM YAM so what the F**K do I know.
I cannot believe we are even entertaining the idea of Bruce or Warnock..
Neither could do any better than mad Mick.
I still Think Mick should have gone but not to be replaced by someone equally bad or worse.
Curbishley is a risk because of being out of the game for so long, but it hasn’t done Dalglish any harm..
Out of the 3 I think we have to give it to Curbishley, otherwise we face being a laughing stock (it we aren’t already).
I think Morgan places too much faith in Moxley.. I believe if reports are true Morgan wanted Rid of Mick for a while. It’s only since the scale of the defeat last week and the abuse hurled at Directors that has forced Moxley’s hand in giving Mick the sack.
I just cannot commit to renewing the season tickets for me and the daughter until we know.. I wont except Bruce or Warnock. However if Bruce were to come in and keep us up how would I feel… Its a difficult one this… Bad timing..
Agree with every word of this, Nige.
Maybe Curbishley didnt hit it off straight away with the more shallow Morgan just suggests to me he really is the best man for the job – a quiet manager often gets deeper respect from his players – Bruce these days always looks like he’s come from a liquid lunch.
Ive said it too often, Curbs will show up Moxey’s inaptitude!!!
In a sick twisted way I hope Moxey messes up this appointment, and picks the wrong man. Then surely Morgan will have to get rid of him!
On holiday in florida missed the derby thank god. Sacking Mick has come two months too late. Curbishley has done f@ck all for four years, Bruce bought a team at Sunderland then could not make them play! And Warnock is a total gobshite! We should have gone for O’Neill when we went 10 straight games from August. The three season tickets I buy depend on this appointment and I am sure alot of other fans feel the same. Two hours each way with two kids and then explaining on the way back why Wolves are the only team to follow ! My speeches are mote motivational than McCarthys. Morgan get it right or your new stand will be very empty next season
None of the managers available are any better than Mick. It should be Roger Johnson who got the sack, we were getting on quite nicely before he arrived. I’ve heard from too many people that he’s a knobhead for it to be just a rumour. Before he came the team was progressing. Slowly, but still progressing. The passion that’s kept us going for the last few seasons has gone and I think that’s got a lot to do with our new captain.
If Warnock is appointed I’ll find it very hard to support him as I’ve despised the bloke since the “battle of Bramall Lane”. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour, on top of that he’s generally an annoying twat.
I’m struggling to think of anyone that could come in who would get me running to the ticket office to hand over my £500 early bird money. Curbishley is probably the best of a bad bunch, but not very exiting is he? Anyone else thinking we should have stuck with Mick? I believe in stability being the main ingredient for success and it’s going to be a while before we get any stability back at our club. As Clive would say FOSW & FOSB.
Who our next manager is is far more important than ANY signing we will ever make. It shouldn’t be a snap decision by two non football men. Whoever they choose, has to be a temporary appointment til the end of the season. They should then take stock and advice from people within the game and spend big on it. The right manager will make the club money in the long run.
As to who we appoint, I’ve always found this idea of wanting a manager who is ‘likeable’ very odd. I couldn’t give a toss whether he’s a nice bloke or not. The more he annoys the opposition and their fans the better as far as i am concerned.
The manager i would chose is,
One who motivates and has the respect of the players.
One who knows football and recognises a premiership player when he sees one and where to play him.
One who picks the team on performance and ability only and never on misguided loyalty or friendship.
One who realises his ultimate responsibility is not to his players and himself but to the club and the supporters.
One who gives my cat’s arse a break and wins his fair share of games.
And , oh dear Lord please, one whose players’ first instinct is to get the ball down on the ground and pass to someone in a gold shirt.
Sorry if this has been done already but I think Warnock will get it to restore the balance. A “W” is an upside down “M”
Warnock has been appointed Leeds manager . Thank God !
Warnock has gone to Leeds
And Bruce’s odds at the Bookies are shortening while Curbishley’s odds lengthen.
If Bruce becomes manager we are doomed…..
I agree and I have this bad feeling Poxey will give Bruce the job, if he does it will back fire on him big time, the fans
will want blood, Poxey s blood
Be surprised if he appoints Bruce when he’s trying to shift early birds. Only if he’s the only choice.
I agree Martin. I just can’t see how they can appoint Bruce, when he was so god awful at Sunderland, pulling the same hairbrained tricks that Mick did down here.
Moxey must be panicking right now, as it would appear that he was the one who insisted Morgan didn’t pull the trigger sooner. Now look what options we have.
West Brom show us how its done on and off the pitch.
Hi Ben, your correct concerning Bruce, but we are talking Moxey here.
He is very chummy with Bruce, and then we had Curbishley’s son on Twitter saying he thought the interview didn’t go well, and that he thinks he wouldn’t get the job. I suppose you draw your own conclusions from that, the tweets wasn’t on Twitter long before he deleted them, he soon realised he had made a big F@@k up as loads of Wolves fans starting following him and retweeting his tweets, he hasn’t tweeted since.
Let me just say if Moxey or Poxey as I like to call him, does infact hire Bruce, then we are certain for relegation, and that will convince me without doubt, Poxey doesn’t know what he is doing, and deep down he don’t give a toss what the Wolves fans want.
On the plus side Morgan is a Curbishley fan so ultimately it’s Morgans decision, this will be the biggest decision he will have to make for a long time so surely he will do the right thing, but for me it’s just Poxey who I really think will be the thorn in Morgan’s side.
Lets all hope for the best, the sooner we all know the bloody better this is killing me LOL.
Warnock has gone to Leeds thank god .
Would rather have a good manager from the championship than Bruce – Brian Mcdermott at Reading doing well at a selling club.Brendan Rogers and Paul Lambert had never managed in the Premier before.
This is becoming a shambles mirroring the shambles on the pitch. If Lunchtime O’Bruce is given the job
I dread to think how the players let alone the fans react.
Timing of all this woefully out of step with supporters-are we surprised?
I have great concern that Lunchtime and Eric The Black will be installed.
Steve Bruce 1-5 on to be new manager…..
We are going down in last place…..
Thanks poxey moxey…..
Looks like its Bruce!! Good old potato head. This football club is a disgrace. Fucking shambles!
I agree, how utterly disillusioning…
Wonder how poxey moxey will try to sell Bruce to us fans…
I think he’s treating us as Mcdickheads
After looking at ‘oddschecker.com’ which has Bruce as the bookies clear favourite, I’m really getting worried that he will be appointed. If so, how can it be based on football/managerial skill. It’s so clear he is useless.
Hopefully Morgan will grow a pair and override any recommendation by the ‘fat controller’
From a Sunderland fan from their ‘Ready to Go’ forum. Yikes!
“I’d love to see the ‘survival dossier’ he put together to get the Wolves job.
Who did he get to write that for him?
And if he wrote it all by himself, presumably it was in crayon because he is proud that he has never sent an email.
And what the hell was in it?
Tactical pearls of wisdom?
A transfer market policy where his scouting team spots players like James McClean, who he works with every day for months, and doesn’t think is capable of playing in the Premiership even when we don’t have a left winger in the squad?
A promise that when he takes them down he might bring them back up again?
A promise that they will play like a new team next season? Because they literally will be every year once he has done his usual revolving door policy, not being able to build a team.
Good man management skills, with the names of Kenwyne Jones, Lorik Cana, Darren Bent, Asamoah Gyan, Anton Ferdinand, airbrushed out?
The fact that he comes cheap because he is on the dole? (neglecting to mention the fact that no matter how bad things get, he’ll stick it out and won’t resign, which is how he is the 9th richest manager in the country despite never having made it above 10th).
The one and only area where he is really strong, a real natural, is that he manages to present a load of clueless, simpering, cliche-ridden bullshit as being a likeable, ‘proper’ manager, thjat has been hard done to at every club he has failed at, and that so many chairmen fall for it.
They should try asking fans of any club he has been at – none of whom miss him or would want him back – to get an understanding of how talented a manager he is.”
All very true. Sounds like we should hire this Sunderland fan …. 😐
Very scary Ben.
The only two things he seems to be very good at as far as i can see are getting fatter and fatter and making his head get redder and redder. Neither particularly useful assets in fighting a relegation battle. Looks like he spends a lot of time eating and drinking good wine and not much time working.
He also seems to love the sound of his own voice and giving interviews on any subject you like.
If it’s either him or nobody, i’d go for nobody and save the dosh.
Can you hear it-the spin is being concocted. This is doing my brain in. Gonna have to shut site down and find something normal to do.

Steve Bruce now leads the pack in Wolves chase
Less than three months after being told he wasn’t good enough to keep one side in the Premier League, Steve Bruce is set to be trusted with the task of doing exactly that at another.
Following Neil Warnock’s appointment as Leeds boss today, Bruce is now the 1/4 favourite to become Mick McCarthy’s successor at Molineux.
THis is all a bad dream isn’t it?!!
Just been reading some of Moxeys usual bollocks aka spin on the E&S website. Can someone explain to me ‘Wolves DNA’, what the fuck is he on about.
JUST SEEN ON SKY SPORTS THAT CURBS HAS TURNED THE JOB DOWN
Yea just heard that too, although difficult to work out whether it was offered or he’s ruled himself out
If that’s the case or if he has ruled himself out, it just says everything about how the club is being run.
Lunchtime O’Bruce or TC-You decide. Fucking hell were doomed.
Steve F@@@@@g Bruce = relegation and the same F@@@@@g boring football that Mad Mick served up, if that useless twat gets the job I’m giving up. I’m totally pissed off with the 2 idiots running our club, he spent MILLIONS at Sunderland and still messed it all up.
And it proves just how shit he really is when another manager ie O’Neil comes in don’t spend a single penny, has the same players as Bruce, and turns the season around. They could still get into the Europa Cup.
Make no mistake Sunderland were in freefall and would have been joining us in the Championship.
Curb’s turning down Wolves can only mean one thing, Poxey & Morgan won’t pay the money, and won’t give him a longer deal than the remaining 13 games.
If that proves to be the case then Morgan should sell up, and take Poxey with him.
My main gripe I have with the 2 M’s is their clear lack of footballing knowledge which, up until now, I haven’t seen as a big issue.
I.E: Will Moxey and Morgan be asking the pertinent questions to Bruce to ensure the same mistakes don’t happen to our club (again) as were made at the Stadium of Light.
Does Morgan even know who James McClean is? Or Matthew Kilgallon? He should be demanding answers as to why such players were shunned and marginalised at Sunderland, and who are now flourishing under Martin O’Neill.
We have had such pig headedness under Mick for too long, so I’d like to think this whole I/V process will make Bruce lose a stone in sweat as he justifies why he ignored McClean (for example) while asking for millions of pounds for a new left winger at the same time!
Morgan and Moxey should know this, along with a host of other indiscrepencies from Bruce’s reign at Sunderland.
Nobody knows I guess.
I’m imagining that Bruce will have said that he made Sunderland a net profit on transfer spend, being as he lost Bent, Gyan, Henderson for far more money than he spent on Gardner, Vaughan, Wickham and co.
This is true, and I’m sure Morgan and Jez will love this fact and cut Bruce slack for it, compared to Mick’s net £45 million in three years.
Jez has said that he hasn’t offered anyone the job on twitter apparently, so until I see it on a site like the BBC Curbishley is still a possibility!
Just checked out Radio WM on Twitter, Poxey was interviewed and says that rumours that Curbs has turned down the job aint true, FFS give him the job…..
https://twitter.com/#!/search/bbc%20wm
Agreed – just stop us all from worrying FFS! Just goes to show how desperate we all are to get Curbs… or perhaps how desperate we are NOT to get Bruce!
My concerns are based on the amount of fuck ups our club has made over the years!
Just spoken to a Blues fan of long standing who thought that Bruce would do a good job for Wolves. He said that he would instill discipline, ensure 100% effort all through the club. Would keep us up. He kept WIgan up & took Sunderland to 10th. Ex Man Utd the honours he has won. He can’t be all that bad. He also said that due to Bruce the Blues had one of the best youth sides now.
I was anti Bruce but how much is based on real knowledge & what based on hearsay & the knee jerk reaction of fickle impatient fans? Our defence needs sorting badly if we are to stay up, Bruce seems well equipped to do that for us. He is after all the highest calibre applicant & it seems, unlike Curbishley, he wants to come. Bruce’s problem was that he could not make the step up from solid teams to teams that play with flair. Lets not hang about give him a go, to me he seems the best equipped of the applicants now I have reflected & looked at the options.
Are you an A@@@@n fan ?
I laugh of course not! I have never known such an anti one man campaign. True Bruce has failed at places but he has more recent prem experience than the other candidates. Just maybe he has a big proint to prove his knockers wrong!
Thank heavens that Warnock has gone to leeds. The bolkjes an obnoxious twa*.
I’m afraid if bruce gets the nod then i’m NOT renewing my season ticket so morgan n poxey
can stick their 40 quid discount up their tight little arses.I’ve been a season ticket holder for over 20 years and never felt so pissed off than i am now.mm was bad but bruce is far worse .
I hope they read the blogs and think again what a big f..k up they will be doing.why don’t they
do a poll with the fans to see who thay want or would like given the chance,i’m sure we could choose someone better than them they are clueless.FOJM.
Maybe there’s going to be a twist in the tale maybe Poxey and Moron will surprise us…..
maybe just maybe.
Or we get Lunchtime O’Bruce-what can we do about it,realistically?
I hope so and have become addicted to
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/wolves-specials/next-permanent-manager
Bruce has eased slightly in the market and there is some money for Benitez
Well thats one nail in the coffin dodged with Warnock. I hear Curbishley has turned down the job, If this is true then I’m massively disapointed but we need a manager who really want’s the job. As for Bruce I think that would be a big mistake I would prefere Dave Jones and Incey but only if they are given full backing by the board. I alway’s enjoyed the football that was played under Dave and thought it was a bad decision by the board not to back him in the prem and to give him the sack. But that is a last resort I’m still rooting for Curb’s, Only if he really want’s the job. Up the WOLVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So Warnock’s gone, apparently Curbs has said NO!!! ( How did Sky Sports know this ??? ) so that leaves TC,SB and…………Well that says it all, so much for being “a biiiigggg club, and a sleeping giant ” Who are we trying to kid ??? and to cap it all there’s bully boy SM who went out of his way to humiliate MM in front of his underperforming team before giving him the boot from his holiday chalet and then there’s weasly JM who said ” he’s the owner he can do what he wants ” My my they’ll be headhunting some-one next but who..??? This scenario does not look promising. Too much indecision too late and now we’re all going to feel worse. The only bright spot is that there’s 5 teams separated by 4 points and apart from the managerial issues there isn’t much between them and I’m convinced this season 37 or 38 points will be sufficient to survive so…. 9 points from BR,BW and WA plus 7 or 8 from the other 10 matches and don’t forget WA is the final match of the season so coup de grace final day and maybe Noddy and Big Ears will have appointed SK from BR in the meantime. Mmmmm I think not but what an outcome to finish our 3rd PL season. Up the Wolves !!!
Daily mail says Bruce turned wolves down too. Said 13 games was too short a time to get players to respond to a manager for 2.5months. What a fucking farce. We won’t get experience now just like we were promised experienced prem players! Disgraceful. Still want curbs – the rumours have quietened over his wolves snub.
Where is the survival plan that made him the only viable candidate !? What a load of bollocks getting really pissed off now……
Took O’neill about 5 minutes to get the players to respond after the fat fuck had gone.
I can get 25/1 for McCarthy to get the job…
What a shambles.
OH Dear…
I believe we are now officially The laughing stock of the premier league..
No Manager seems to want the job after being interviewed by our great leaders..
Hope TC has kept Mick’s mobile number for the Newcastle game so they can still discuss what’s on the clipboard and “how they are going to change things at half time” when we are 2 down.
To say Morgan is supposed to run a highly successful business, his and Moxley’s PR is a disaster.
Humpty and Dumpty’s plans are in tatters. Now we move into 2nd and 3rd choices. We’ll be lucky if we get
Anyone in by the weekend. Still no worries Clipboard will “prepare” the team-Total shambles and mis-management by the “spin merchants”. Morgan hiding in the background again.
Who is left? My money’s on Sven.
13 games to save the season, wow not even Flash Gordon can do that deadline !!!
We must be the laughing stock of the PL and NO-ONE worth their salt wants the job.
What a mess, well done JM and SM, it looks like we’re about to hit the buffers big time especially if they appoint someone who does not warrent immediate respect. TC at the moment looks the safest option but it’s also down to the players. Up the Wolves.
I genuinely believe that Morgan and Moxey are looking at a European style appointment in the summer – with an experienced Director of Football having oversight of all matters and a relatively young individual appointed as Coach.
Typically, a Director of Football has influence over transfer matters; this would allow Morgan and Moxey to exercise further control over spending. We all know we are a well-run business and this would allow an element of long-term player recruitment.
Clearly, old fashioned managers wont accept this. Can this be one of the reasons that Curbs, Warnock and Bruce have been reluctant to consider the job. Bruce especially will want to spend money himself.
I still suspect Bruce might be up for the 13-game challenge because he has nothing to lose. Hell, he will even have the excuses ready.
What we need is someone to steady the ship now
