Huddersfield have inflicted some misery on Wolves over the years.

In fact, we haven’t beaten the Terriers home or away since Bully scored in a 2-0 win at what was then called the McAlpine Stadium.
I went to that game back in 1997 and left thinking we were on our way to the Premier League. Foolish boy.
Two galling 3-1 home defeats in more recent times have rubber stamped Chris Powell’s side as our bogey team.
The midweek loss earlier this season was a pill but nothing compared to the nail they hammered in our coffin towards the end of the Dean Saunders relegation campaign.
It’s about time we leveled things up a bit.
Huddersfield
A splendid win over Millwall at the weekend eased any lingering relegation fears for Town. They came out on top despite playing most of the second half with 10 men after Nahki Wells was sent off.
That dismissal does however mean their 11 goal top scorer is suspended for tonight’s game, which is a boost for Kenny Jackett.
The John Smith’s Stadium is a tough place to go and the home side boast a decent record having won six, drawn four and lost four so far.
With 48 goals conceded, it looks like the defence is where Chris Powell needs to address problems.
At the other end of the pitch former Albion man Ishmael Miller is likely to make his full debut. It’s hard to believe the journeyman striker is still just 27.
Wolves
Kenny defended his five changes to the team against Reading, but I personally thought his substitutions were a bigger issue.

Even when Nouha Dicko came on it never felt like Wolves had two strikers on the pitch. One was always dropping deep and the Reading centre backs were rarely occupied.
Man Utd reverted to a more direct game against West Ham when the Irons began to retreat to their 18 yard box on Sunday. With teams defending so deep at Molineux I think Wolves should occasionally mix it up similarly.
In the first half the pass and move game was much more effective, but the well of ideas ran dry in the second 45 and the approach play seemed slow and over complicated.
Away from Molineux, it should suit Wolves better with teams forced to come forward. The above would be my team selection for tonight.
The gaffer
Predictions
We don’t want to embark on another losing run, so a draw would probably represent a decent result.
That said, I’m hoping the suspension of Wells will just tip this one in Wolves favour. If they can keep Huddersfield at bay as an attacking force, the statistics suggest we’ll score.
It’ll be tight but I’ll back Wolves to respond and score a third victory of the season in Yorkshire.
2-1
Up The Wolves.

Hoping we get back on track today. Sako to win
A clean sheet and 3 points…I hope!
I haven’t been able to predict the right result let alone the score for weeks so I’m hoping that my prediction doesn’t affect our chances. We need a win to get back on track and to stay in contact.
Will agree with your prediction Thomas and also that Huddersfield are yet another bogy side for us, but question the team selection.
Just what has Jacobs got to do to gt a game for gods sake. If KJ has become the tinkerman its time for him to give Jacobs a shot surely.
Agree re: Jacobs he has goals in him RVP is lazy and half hearted when it comes to defending a tackling Jacobs is not scared to get stuck in.
All the reports I read are about Wolves not beating Huddersfield since … etc etc, bogey team etc etc. Well it’s about time we bloody well did then. So ………….
Wholeheartedly agree with you Thomas on your team selection.
Dicko HAS to start with Sako back again.
There’s a rumour going round that Golbourne’s foot playing up again, but if he’s OK he also has to be in to link up on the left with Sako.
I was amused to read that Jez Moxey has said that turning down an offer of £2m+ from the filth was a statement of intent from the men in charge.
Intent of what?
Certainly not of doing whatever it takes to get back into the Premier League!
I’m very happy that he’s still with us but would have been far happier if he had a few more players of his class joining him.
Let’s have a win tonight lads, then we can all get back to predicting automatic promotion.
Fickle? Moi?
Yes DOOG I read his comment was a statement of intent … Crikey who’s he trying to kid … that bloke’s got more spin than Alistair Campbell …..
he makes it sound as tho he’s done us all a favour … as you say he would have been better backing it up with some QUALITY signings (Plural !!) …
Perilous times for us and this week is no exception.. 3 points against Reading would of got us on our way particularly with Norwich coming up too…
I think we have more confidence away currently so I’m going for a win..
Afobe has got the taste and Sako is due one too ..
I would love to see Dicko and Afobe spearhead the break as they could be a really good future partnership…our attack looks so good on paper…
.
Please K Mac have a good game..
Let’s hold the back line and hang on to the pack..
COYW
Level pegging for me. Not a great result or a terrible one, but sums up where we are this season. Steady, but short of enough to go up.
Missed the Reading game – need a win now to keep up with the play-offs.
But hoping for better…
We seem to be going thru’ one of those phases again – inconsistent performances in the last 5 matches, conceding 2 in each of the last 2 etc. Can’t say I’m optimistic, so I’ll hope for the draw but expect a loss.
Still cannot believe we gave up our unbeaten run so tamely. I’ll never understand why managers make so many changes to a team all at once. Very difficult to get cohesion, fluidity and understanding if half the players are different to the ones that turned out the week before. Totally failed to see what Price had done wrong in previous games to warrant being dropped down to the bench especially in light of Evans’ regular inability to do the one thing that Price does pretty well… i.e. pass to a Wolves player. Why make so many challenges for ourselves? It’s almost as though we want to get as close to the play-offs as possible but just miss out.
I really want us to win comfortably tonight but I suspect it will be a disappointing trip overall.
As Thomas as said, we have not beaten Huddersfield since 1997. Our record is won 30 drawn 15 lost 33.
Time to break the jinx and get 3 points. Although to do that we will have to improve over recent displays to get 3 points tonight.
Who knows what formation or players will start tonight, KJ has surprised us on more than one occasion. Will he go 4-5-1, 4-4-2, 4-3-2-1?
Onwards & Upwards
🙂
I hope Kenny follows your team selection logic tonight Thomas, and plays what many would consider to be our strongest starting eleven.
The only change I would make if it were an option would be Karl between the sticks.
Please no more tinkering tonight Mr. Jackett.
I feel the lads are under a lot less pressure on the road than at the Molineux, and seem to play a little more freely, so hoping for some more of this tonight.
If Sako and Dicko are given a decent amount of game tonight, I think we could edge it.
Come on Me Babbies!!!
Sorry to be so negative, but the facts are that we don’t play with enough pace or intent going forward and 2 in centre midfield can’t cope (hope I’m wrong yet again!).
Hope Golbourne is fit to support Sako, but it’s worrying that he was struggling to start last Saturday.
COYW!!
Time to turn the tables.
Not playing well and conceding again too, not sure Jackett knows what his best 11 is and what formation to play. To me it’s obvious with Sako and RVP must go 4-4-2 , they have been getting crosses in but only 1 guy at most in middle to aim for, go for it like Bournemouth are, attack attack !
Time to beat the ‘uddersfield hoodoo.
draw will be acceptable, but i think the team selection above, if he goes with something like that, will give us a good chance of the win. sage words, let’s hope they are a portent!
Just about….Sako in 91st minute.
Don’t know what team will play …
I’ve been predicting 2-1 for a while now, and it’s not done us any favours. Law of averages states we will win 2-1 again eventually, and tonight could well be the night, so just to tip the balance of probability slightly further in our favour I’m going for a 3-2 win! You can all thank me for your prediction points later.
I was a little late to the prediction party for the Reading game, so for any of you who missed it, here is a photo from my a****n supporting mate’s recent stag do in Amsterdam. Enjoy!
Time for a change of fortune?
Wokingham Welsh Wolf you are absolutely spot on……’the facts are that we don’t play with enough pace or intent going forward.’
And it’s not just in attack, the whole team needs to up the pace, get out of first gear and start looking like they really mean it.
The team (and more to the point, the manager), need a kick up the arse.
Last season,( apart from signing Clarke), KJ was superb. He hardly put a foot wrong. This season, after the initial momentum rom last year, he’s hardly put a foot right.
And I haven’t once heard him say anything was his fault.
Prove me wrong, Kenny, starting with a win tonight.
Well that seemed to do the trick!.
Well done lads and Kenny. Thanks for proving me wrong, at least for one game.
Now let’s keep it up, starting with Norwich. Hugely important for making the play-offs.
I’ll echo the sentiments above that more pace and conviction is needed going forward. Too often forward momentum fizzles out and promising breaks stutter into more passing without purpose. Maybe that’s modern football? But it bloody frustrating
Seeing Huddersfield’s name against us always sends a shiver down my spine. More tinkering and backache for Kuszczak.
Another classic counter attacking performance.
Another point on the board but no goals in this one for me. Hope im wrong come on wolves
Narrow win would do me.
Huddersfield are unbeaten in the last 11 meetings between us.
I have never really liked this ‘new’ ground. Much preferred Leeds Road, although I’ve never seen us win there. Best was a 0-0 in 80’s
I did see Wolves’ last win 2-0 away in Division One in February 1997. Goals from Bully and Froggy.
No reason to think we’ll win tonight, other than We Are Wolves!
Message to Kenny: always play your best team(starting 11)
I don’t recall getting a single prediction right so far so here’s hoping I can continue my run of fortune. However, I haven’t seen or heard much over the last few games to instil within me a sense of unshakeable confidence. Clutching at straws though : Sako’s back, Afobe seems to be finding his feet, Golbourne is back (or is he), and Kenny says we will improve. Reasons to be cheerful.
My memories of the old Huddersfield ground involve Jeff Astle, offside goals at Elland Road, Leeds denied First Division title, and playing Wolves at Huddersfield early the next season.
Then Scooped from Ludlow trying to take on 20,000 Leeds fans after we got in the wrong end after imbibing too much before the game!
That was when a good friendship nearly ended, but I saved him!!
We will win tonight, or this afternoon in Houston, and by a wonderful margin of 4 goals.
Keep the faith, boys and girls, I’ve got to be right some day!!
FO wb
Me and Stu were chanting Five for Clive, Five for Clive, Five for Clive after Dicko put our fourth in. But I am afraid to say, the remaining 907 fans never followed.
Sorry, can’t see this lot getting points against Blackpool let alone Huddersfield. They are just not performing at the moment.
Afobe for Edwards for me as Dangerous looked really tired on Saturday, perhaps he is carrying a problem like Golbourne.
My predictions are naff so there’s hope in my score.
:-((
Let’s bounce back in style!! /\_/\
Wolves confound us all and wallop our bogey side.
Only a short drive up the M1 from Chesterfield, so I`m leaving in a minute. I`ve said a 2-1 win like so many others but we were 3-0 down at home to this lot and it could have been worse than that. Not hopeful of the 3 points as KJ says we are only average. But hope stays eternal for us wolves fans.
I had left 12 minutes before you posted this Mark. Nice journey home after a good performance.
The result depends on what team Jackett picks the tinkering is doing us no favours the time that when I a run might not of been his preferred but they weren’t losing.
I carnt understand either why Jacobs has had a game nearly all season he’s very attack minded has goals in him and I’ much prefer hin to RVP he doesnt do it for 90 minutes he won’t or carnt defend he doesn’t score like Jocobs can, and yes he created the goal on Saturday but he was at fault a Bolton for one of the goals I’ve not been impressed with him at all I think Jacobs has a better all round game he defends scores and creates goals for the life of me I carnt understand his absence this season.
I’m afraid I carnt see the run ending.
Head rather than heart, hope we can play like we did at Watford away
UTW
We need to show bounce-back-ability tonight.
Didn’t realise the time …. our bogey team gremlins continue I’m thinking but at least we get a point … really can’t see much change from our last 4 efforts … ( excluding Blackburn away) …
please KJ start with Dicko, Afobe, AND Sako ….
Agree with your selection. Two up front can never work for us with such an ineffective midfield although I can’t see him leaving Afobe on the bench. Would like to see Jacobs involved, Doyle as well but its a long way back from Colorado. Hope Evans is not included but McDonald is currently looking very ponderous and a shadow of his early season self. My memory of Huddersfield. 1-0 Terry Wharton Easter Monday 1967. Our coach broke down and we missed the goal !
If we go with Thomas’s team it’ll be a victory, if we tinker again who knows.
Let’s get back on track for the promotion push
I’m hoping for a response to the Reading defeat…….but it could be a close run thing.
Forgot my prediction but it wont happen
They provided the first big shock of our season and sent us on a woeful run, just when we were eyeing a bumper crop of points from a glut of games. This time, the stuttering has already a started at the end of a decent run. I too want to say we have to turn the tide now, but, with apologies for pessimism, I can’t see that we will. One big factor is team selection, as everyone is noting. But without that particular crystal ball, the best I can go for is a draw. I’ll be delighted to lose Prediction League points!
I’m optimistically predicting that we”ll be determined to avenge the defeat at home to them and also Saturday’s reverse.
No idea on this one so going with my standard 3-0
Hoping for a performance and result straight out of the 1st couple of months of the season.
Can’t see anyone scoring in this.
Bogy team, Tuesday night and away, i think its a defeat for wolves, but ill stick my neck out and predict a win.
Away win.
I’ve been ill in hospital this week, including a little operation on my waterworks.
We will win tonight. I can feel it in my water 🙂
Dicko & Sako to get a goal a piece.
Looks like am attacking line up so hopefully more of a threat than Saturday
Always hopeful but not confident
I have a distant memory of going to see Wolves play at Huddersfield’s old Leeds Road ground in the 1960’s.That finished 1-1 and, after our recent record against them,I’d settle for that tonight………hope we can do better though.
I hope after that display at the weekend kenny kicked their arses up and down dale and they buckle down a get a win COYW
Don’t have a great feeling about tonight but I’ll go with a Wolves win.
A more adventurous line-up tonight? Come on me babbies!
Heart ruling head…
Just before kick off.
C’mon you Wolves….
a bit last minute, hope I’m not too late.
The word ‘udder’ appears in Huddersfield. A cow has 1 udder so in that regard Huddersfield are destined to score 1 goal. On any given day it would probably take two wolves to bring a cow down. Simple then. Huddersfield 1 Wolves 2.
Quite a lot off topic…
But 5billion for Premiership TV rights? WTF?
If there’s ever a carrot to get up their then it’s this season… Even if we went up, did not downs a penny and came straight back down the club would be able to sort out the other 3 stands and still be able to purchase quality players for another assault.
Staggering to think what the agents will be demanding for their assets with this news… who will be the 1st player on 1/2 million a week? Sako has got it right as he will be able to demand a damn site more in the next window than he could have dreamed of in this!
Fucking ridiculous agreement by Sky…. Grassroots needs supporting and Gate prices no doubt will also keep increasing.
1-4 with 5 mins injury time… Here’s hoping Clive finally gets his prediction!
Me and Stu were chanting Five for Clive Five for Clive Five for Clive. Good game,
Yippeeeeee…. 1-4 Wolves. Fantastic result and a much better performance. Kenny’s the man.
Hard luck Clive… Maybe the weekend?
I said a few weeks ago that KJ’s no mug and will be working on the goals for column…
It looks like Afobe is making a big impact for us with goals and assists… What a gem has been unearthed!
Sako let you down Clive, goalie to beat 3 yards out and nearly took me and Brompton out in the back of the stand.
Far better performance, only bad game was Sako believe it or not.
Huddersfield played really well so that makes the result all that more special.
Come on me Babbies.
:-))
About bloody time somebody got smacked.
Thought Clive was going to be correct for a moment.
Clive has been correct before mind you i have been on here nearly 5 years.
The best news is Afobe …Dicko mk2 …Norwich here we (I) come!!
Steve.
We’ve found someone who can win tne high ball up front, feeding everyone around him with his head, brilliant to see.
Ill be at norwich unfortunately in their end with my son who lives in norwich…I’ll catch up with you at Bournmouth and brighton Stu….!!
Huddersfield
Shots 31 on target 13
Well done our defence !
Wolves
Shots 10 on target 6
Well done our attackers !
A great result and, at least on the face of it, it looks like we tonked someone at last! Norwich looks like it could be a cracker of a game as they’ve hit some form, like us of late, I think. As a complete aside on the new pl deal, I heard scudamore boast that it makes “burnley a more valuable club than Ajax.” What has money done to our game?
I was gonna to predict that result too…..we’ll not really but was thinking a win.
Why do we have a game like against Reading then when not expecting anything we spank our bogey team.
To be a Wolves Fan hey.
COYW
Great win against a useful side, albeit with a poor defence.
The og after half time was a welcome gift. Poor one from sako, the substitution was not a surprise.
Neither was the replacement of v l p, who was excellent first half but faded in the second.
McDonald and Dicko were superb. Loved Dicko,s response when he a) fell in the box and b) got booked. Best celebration to a booking I have seen.
Also impressive to see how the team pulled together when under pressure.
UTW
I thought Sako did ok but has played better. I thought Hause was a bit hit and miss and lacked strength in the first half, came out more confident in the 2nd.
What I liked most was the way we were in their faces every time they were on the ball (or most of the time they were on the ball). More urgency, more pressure, better passing (most of the time), and the finishing much more clinical. A very good performance and a fantastic result.
We just need to keep this going for the Norwich game on saturday, it worked well. But ………… we am Wolves ay we!
Me and StuWolf were chanting Five for Clive Five for Clive Five for Clive, but nobody joined in!!
Never mind Clive, we are getting there.
The Stears tweeted that he heard a new chant from the ground…
He thought it was about him, however he must have misheard as it sounds like it was all about “Five 4 Clive”…
Get that printed on the back of your shirt Clive!
Shrews
It was we want five, we want five. Which we then tagged on by super Brompt and Moi yo Clive wants five, Clive wants five.
The other one was great,……
Richard Stearman Bolton reject, Richard Stearman Bolton reject. That must have P’d the locals off.
Away fabns were amazing, better than home matches for some strange reason, Wolves at home are muted at the moment, but thinking logically if it’s shite on the pitch then enthusiasm is not so high.
Can’t say much more that everyone played their part, now they know they are capable of it they so have to maintain that performance in the future. We want some of that Sky lolly.
Onwards & Upwards?????
:-(( :-((((
Smiley faces all round for me.
