I like Kenny Jackett.

As a coach and a person.
But it’s becoming harder to defend a series of bewildering team selections, the latest being the biggest head scratcher yet.
I suppose it is possible that because the squad have been hamstrung by the loss of key attacking personnel, he’s just decided to shut up shop for the winter.
Stink out the place and scrape enough points to finish with a modicum of respectability.
Or maybe he’s just experimenting given that we’re effectively contesting dead rubbers until May?
Most harrowing though is the idea that he actually believes Rowe, Coady or Saville are all better choices than McDonald.
Shudder.
If that’s the case (which I don’t think it is), he should reconsider his choice of career let alone his Molineux tenure.
Instinctively, I think McDonald and Price sat it out because Jackett believes they leave our midfield over exposed, particularly when we don’t possess the talent further forward to dominate the ball.
There’s some logic to that, but after losing another turgid contest and the team winless in six, leaving out your best players is always going to leave you wide open to criticism.
It’s not time to push the eject button though.
You’ve got examine all the evidence. The bigger picture.
We know this coach can get a team playing attractive, expansive football when afforded the resources to do so.
We also know you can’t lose Sako, Afobe, Stearman, Dicko, Graham, Edwards and Henry (not mentioning Jacobs and Golbourne) in the space of six months and expect the good times to keep rolling.
Equally, the players that have come in simply haven’t been on the same planet as those going out.
Ojo, Le Fondre, Wallace haven’t been anywhere close to good enough. I also doubt Mason or Byrne are promotion material either, albeit on limited evidence.
But is Jackett to blame for this? I don’t think he is.
Firstly, the club don’t pay decent salaries. Several reliable sources have told me there’s a stringent cap that makes us among the lowest payers in the Championship.
This immediately limits the pool of players we can realistically attract in an ever more competitive market.
Secondly, does Jackett even sanction who comes and goes? We’ve never had definitive clarification over who has final say.
Yes, you can probe and pick at team selection but the reality is, whoever the head coach puts out at present would only make a slightly under average Championship team slightly better.
Dropping the axe now in the misguided belief someone can salvage this write-off season would be a mistake.
And with no seriously compelling alternative suggested, nobody will convince me otherwise.

I like kj too Thomas , but nice guys win nowt these days , it doesn’t matter much anyway because our useless hiararchy dont even have the ability to sack and replace him ! History tells us that, so it’s kind of like being in a permanent state of nauseating limbo I’m afraid, the wind apparently caused us to have one shot on target!!! It’s the traveling fans I feel for , surely this is one the club could offer free travel for to our next game by way of a good will gesture!!!!
Jackett was brought in to progress the clubs style of player and have us producing an entertaining, successful attractive brand of football.
He alone is responsible for the football we produce. He picks the team. He leaves out our best players. He sends out talented youngsters on loan (Graham, Wallace) who should be in our team.
We signed Nathan Byrne six months ago for a decent fee, and yet he still has more starts for Swindon than Wolves this season.
It is abysmal. I have the utmost sympathy for those who shell out their hard earned money and have to sit through the dullfest that is Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Jackett is not solely to blame for our current plight, of course not, the club is a shambles but he is massively underperforming and is getting worse with each passing week. He has to go.
I would respond in the following ways Louie:
“Jackett was brought in to progress the clubs style of player and have us producing an entertaining, successful attractive brand of football.”
And he did that absolutely for two years when he was afforded the resources to do it.
“He alone is responsible for the football we produce.”
That’s not entirely right. Lose your best players and as a consequence the standard will deteriorate. These things aren’t his fault.
“He picks the team.”
Can’t argue with that, but he’s picking from is mainly shit.
“He leaves out our best players.”
Don’t argue with McDonald. Everyone else is a matter of opinion.
“He sends out talented youngsters on loan (Graham, Wallace) who should be in our team.”
Graham was a head scratcher. Obviously thought Ojo was better (incorrectly). Wallace is doing well at Millwall but nobody was shouting for him to be in the team before he left. That’s hindsight.
“We signed Nathan Byrne six months ago for a decent fee, and yet he still has more starts for Swindon than Wolves this season. ”
Byrne is that player everyone thinks is better than he is because he isn’t playing. I’ve seen him play a few times and although I agree he deserves a more sustained run, I’m not sure he’s done enough in the chances he has been given to warrant the amount of adulation he receives.
“It is abysmal. I have the utmost sympathy for those who shell out their hard earned money and have to sit through the dullfest that is Wolverhampton Wanderers.”
Thank you.
“Jackett is not solely to blame for our current plight, of course not, the club is a shambles but he is massively underperforming and is getting worse with each passing week. He has to go.”
The pool of players he has to select from is getting worse every week. That’s the crux of my argument.
For what it’s worth: Sigurdarson and Mason improve their link-up: http://www.huddersfield.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=436036
We deserved a draw. Unlucky not to score.
I do understand where you are coming from Thomas. And Jackett is fighting against limitations but I thinkequally his limitations are being shown for it.
Gary Rowett is doing a mightily impressive job with what is a much worse squad than ours and on less of budget. He has them over achieving – Jackett’s job is to improve what he has and squeeze the very best they can produce.
On the style of football – just because you have less resources doesn’t mean all of a sudden you abandon all of your principles. A lot of these players he had playing very good football in league 1, and at some times in the Championship.
Thing is, if we were trying to play football and the players were letting us down I could understand. But we aren’t. It is pulis-lite and a less effective version of it too. It’s disgusting.
We talk about money but he would have agreed for us to spend £2m on Conor Coady – one of the least technically gifted footballers I have seen play for Wolves. He has a first touch that goes further than I can kick it. £1m on Byrne who he quite clearly doesn’t rate. Wallace, (who by the way I have called for since we signed him as I have always been a massive fan from his Pompey days) getting 45 minutes here and there. None of what he is doing makes any sense.
We aren’t going up, and we aren’t going down. So there’s no need for this bull of playing for draws against Reading, Preston and Huddersfield. All of which were below us beforehand?
A lot of people are screaming about Rowett and rightly so, because he’s done a very good job at Blues.
But the difference is he’s been able to come in and steadily shape a team because they were at pretty much rock bottom. Jackett already built a very good team and had them playing excellent football, but that team has been blown apart by injury and player sales. He’s now having to start almost from scratch in the middle of the season.
Style I don’t disagree with. It is rot and he should stick to his principles. I just think he does what he thinks is best to win a football match, even if that’s keeping it tight, playing ugly and scrapping it out. When the results don’t come though, it makes life tougher for him though.
I do agree with this:
‘Thing is, if we were trying to play football and the players were letting us down I could understand.’
I would however disagree with
‘A lot of these players he had playing very good football in league 1, and at some times in the Championship.’
It’s almost a completely different team now to the one that got us up and played well in the Champ last season.
‘We talk about money but he would have agreed for us to spend £2m on Conor Coady – one of the least technically gifted footballers I have seen play for Wolves. He has a first touch that goes further than I can kick it. £1m on Byrne who he quite clearly doesn’t rate. Wallace, (who by the way I have called for since we signed him as I have always been a massive fan from his Pompey days) getting 45 minutes here and there. ‘
The fact is we don’t know what he did and didn’t agree on mate, because nobody asks the questions. For all we know, Thelwell makes the decisions on who signs and KJ simply coaches what he’s given. If he did want all these players then yes, he’s culpable for more than I think, but my best guess (which is the same as everyone else) is that he gets a third of the say at best.
‘We aren’t going up, and we aren’t going down. So there’s no need for this bull of playing for draws against Reading, Preston and Huddersfield. All of which were below us beforehand?’
Who said we were playing for draws? But we were above these teams because we were better over the first half of the season, when we had the likes of Afobe and Graham knocking about.
The message that I get from Wolves that no player is signed without the approval of Jackett. Otherwise he should walk if so.
We are quite clearly playing for draws the way we set up? Reading away was horrendous, everyone 40 yards away from Sigurdarson. That was by design. We have played Rowe wide in recent games when we could give an actual winger a game but again chose not to. He didn’t want to play Mason (a player he has chased for some time but is unsure how to use him) to play a 433. Just to pack the midfield out rather than because of any ideas of trying to play football between those three.
We played this rubbish football over the christmas period and squeezed out three ugly wins and one semi-decent one (Fulham are complete cack defensively however). At the time everyone could see – this style isn’t sustainable. Low and behold we lose the only players we were using to attack and that goes to pieces. He was asking for trouble and he’s got it.
I agree with almost all that you have said Thomas but it doesn’t make it any easier to be a Wolves supporter just now.
This is the worst Wolves side that I’ve seen since Saunders was in control. Sorry did I say control? I mean of course in charge.
It would just be so refreshing if Kenny would come out and tell it like it is.
If we have one of the lowest wage limits in the division then we are never going to attract decent players and he should say so.
If he really has had little say in who we recruit, or sell, he should say so.
If he’s writing the rest of the season off to experiment with different line ups, he should say so.
If he hates the way Moxey and Morgan run the club, he should say so.
I think that there are still a lot of fans who desperately want to support the man and he would garner a whole load of sympathy by just telling us the truth.
What’re Moxey or Morgan going to do…. Sack him?
They sure as hell will if things go on the way they are because they will see it as a way of placating the fans and pushing the blame away from themselves.
I am just about as fed up as BARDWolf and feel like just forgetting about it all until August when hopefully everything will look a little rosier.
But, bugger it all, I can’t.
I will keep on writing rubbish on the blog and watching rubbish on the pitch until I pop my clogs or someone with an ounce of love for the club puts their money where their mouth is.
I’m a Wolves fan – that’s what we do!
Totally agree DOOGooder
We all have to understand that the squad we have is very limited and KJ can only select from what he has. (You can’t polish a turd)
He did us proud when he was backed and there is little to suggest that should/would not continue if the correct backing had continued. I honestly think that KJ feels as let down as the rest of us.
Until M&M depart (and I mean both!) and a backer who is a true football supporter is found for our great club we are what we are which is at best a league one side. Sir Alex Ferguson in charge of our current squad would have little impact.
The only mystery related to KJ I have at the moment is McDonald but would suggest the truth will come out over him at some point in the near future.
None the less I’ll be at Griffin Park tomorrow with my lad, we can’t help ourselves!
Our Income for the next Financial Year will reduce by at least £8M.
As a result,we will need to either;
A)Sell another Benik Afobe
B)Reduce costs by that amount
C)Ask Mr Morgan for cash
Ain’t looking to good is it?
Ain’t looking too good (sorry)
It depends entirely on how the ownership status develops
I know Rachael is a girl’s name but 6 likes for correcting a spelling?
Come on boys, calm down now!
8 likes now (sorry)
Ask yourself this Thomas. Has KJ ever achieved any of the things mentioned at any of his other clubs.. NO. He has found his level.. He has always been a good manager at league one level and mid Championship.. He simply isn’t getting the best out of the players we have got fit… If our leaders have no ambitions to take us to the greed league which they clearly haven’t then perhaps he is the ideal man for the job.. We need a clean sweep Morgan. Moxey. Thelwell and Jackett all need to go and the sooner the better..In what order it doesn’t matter.. Otherwise let’s not expect anything better on the pitch..
I disagree with where you sayr it doesn’t matter in what order they go. If Jackett goes first, the momentum to get rid of the owner and CEO will completely disappear. Do we really want a Randy Lerner type situation where the club is ‘for sale’ with a toxic managment in place for years?
The time for sympathizing with Mr Jacket`s problems is over. We can have no idea as to how the decisions regarding new signings are made, but it is surely relevant to suggest that if our coach has any spine at all, he would not sanction the arrival of those players he believes will not add to the quality of his squad. We must therefore assume that he has approved the signings made. If this is not the case, and he is afraid to speak up, he should be in another profession.
Then there is the matter of his ridiculous team selections, and change of tactics, which can only be described as bizzare. How can any team member play to his potential if week on week he has little idea as to who will be playing alongside him, and just how the team is going to play ? The only common factor seems to be that whoever plays and whatever the tactics employed ,in the last resort you just hoof the ball upfield and hope for the best. This is Sunday football.
The bottom line is that Mr Jacket seems incapable of getting the best out of the material available to him. Performance quality is declining week on week. He is increasingly inept, and clutching at straws. Our team will never improve whilst he remains in charge.
Always had my doubts from his days at Millwall where he turned over a huge number of players. Not really a fan of Kenny the person either somewhat humourless and dictatorial. I think that shows in his relationship with the players.
What is the definition of a fool someone who keeps making the same mistake time and time again. Jackett should go under normal circumstances he would but these aren’t normal circumstances, but how long can we egnore and a what cost, its ok saying we shouldn’t get rid of Jackett I seem to remember the same was said of McCarthy and that decision was put off until the damage was done and double relegation followed.
It looks like history could repeat its self sticking our head in the sand and not even looking at may be changing the manager is a sign of dilution that everything will be ok……..I’m not saying its the answer but to rule it out completely…….is living in cooko land.
As I said on the blog last night, I really like Kenny Jacket but there is no doubt that he has options , not great ones I accept, when picking the team. It is blindingly obvious that you don’t win matches with Messrs Rowe, Saville and Coady in the side.
As for who has the final say on buying players I have my doubts that it is the manager.
He’s not a manager, is he?
Manager, coach he picks the team.
Yes I agree. But in his latest interview Jacket singled out Coady and Saville as being our star performers. Surely he can`t have been watching the same game as the rest of us. The guy is not only incompetent, he is delusional.
It just can’t be said that KJs hands are tied this much..
He is responsible for calamitous changes and decisions re the team I’m struggling to name them all.. they are almost too many..main ones for me..
Not recognising our defensive capabilities two thirds through the
season ..Switching the goalie..Benching Afobe..not playing K Mac our best player ..loaning out Graham until he recognised his capabilities..Mason on the bench..
Rowe ffs as in ‘Rowe Rowe Rowe
the boat gently down the league..’
It goes on and on..
Has he been told to do all this then? Bloody sure he’s not ..Is he being told on post match interview’s to say we can still get to the play offs ?
Bollocks..
Moxey and Morgan are not remotely managing this team period.
We could of won yesterday if he could coach our players to ‘make sure’ ..his biggest failing in his training ..
When Williamson is back thank god..
Not only will he have to Captain the team but coach it too…
Just watch what happens..
COYW
That’s a great idea!
Moxey will love that.
Williamson for Player/coach. He could probably clean the kit and sell the pies as well.
That would save even more money.
Ok then Nigel Clough…
Remind me to buy you a pint at the Bloggers’ Ball mate.
I really enjoy our little jousts.
It’s one of the few things I do enjoy at the moment.
I hope I can make it Mark..KJ won’t be in the seat by then I definitely reckon ..
Even you can’t keep him there …lol
The problem I have with sacking Jackett now is this:
– The new guy hasn’t got a transfer window to work with, only the loan market
– It’ll give Morgan & Moxey a bit of breathing room as we give the new manager a chance (breathing room I don’t feel they deserve)
– No-one worth their salt is going to touch the job with a barge pole
Sure, a new manager will have to be enticed with at least some promise of funding. That has to be a good thing. But why not save that money, and Jackett’s payoff cash, and just up the wage cap a bit – I agree with Thomas: that’s what’s really holding us back.
Excellent piece Thomas. The issue of low salaries – has this been raised and addressed at FP? What do the club say? ‘blah blah, this is our policy, previous inequality led to the bomb squad etc’
Jackett is a competent manager but I don’t feel he’ll ever make any real waves. A change now would be silly. Unlikely to happen but Morgan has a track record of stupidity.
Not looking good at the moment. The injuries don’t help but we’re clearly in a holding pattern at the moment until there’s some movement at the top :/
I think as supporters we have go for the beer at the pub and the day out rather than the football. UTW
Sorry but I cant` agree that we in a holding pattern. Mid season, we somehow managed to get four very fortuous wins, despite being outplayed each time, and if you exclude these results, we would be right there in the relegation mix. We havn`t won in six games. We don`t look as if we can win. The team seems to set up to just to avoid losing, with zero attacking ambitions. The way we play is a disgrace.
Predictably. after each terrible performance, Jacket gets going on his weekly bleating session of ” njuries, bad luck, and any other excuse that comes into his head ” — this week it was the wind that kept us from winning. ! ! Then he seeks to soften the blow by claiming that the Play-Offs are still within reach. What absolute rubbish. How gullible does he think us genuine fans really are ?
We need to be fully aware that given the acceleration of our decline, even with our present points cushion we could yet be dragged into a relegation battle. Our club is in turmoil, with no-one seemingly in control
This season is a nothing season now, we just want to avoid relegation which we will do – even though I can’t really see where the next win is coming from right now there’s only a miniscule chance that it becomes that catastrophic.
The problem is that fans have stopped caring right now – what’s there to look forward to with performances like this? It’ll be exciting when there’s a new owner sure but that’s going to take a long long while…
I’ve never been a fan of Kenny and I’ve said that many times before. I think he probably is constrained by the wages structure and that will apply to any manager daft enough to come here. I suspect that any decent candidates to take over from KJ would be put off by this. Neither do I think we are prepared to invest in terms of actual transfer fees. We constantly miss out. I predicted mid table mediocrity when the September transfer window closed. Since then we have lost Dicko, Afobe and Stears. I don’t think we were ever going to challenge for promotion this season given our squad.
I wonder how much control KJ has over transfers and sales. He has said he has the final word but is that only after Thelwell has identified them and Moxey has “ok”ed them.
Against that Kenny is Head Coach and the performances I have witnessed this season have been woeful. While the players may not be great they are better than they are showing at the moment. Leaving McD out is puzzling. So is leaving Evans at Bradford. Without McD there are no bullets for the strikers to fire. (Lack of) substitutions have been strange. When games were in the balance with 20 minutes to go KJ sometimes seemed like a rabbit in the headlights.
Sacking him now would give a new incumbent time to look at the present squad and to decide who goes and who stays.
The bottom line is – who will come here given the wage structure and transfer budget? I don’t think Pearson would touch us with a barge pole and that will apply to any others worth their salt. Sad to say I don’t think we will get much better than what we have now. I wish that wasn’t the case. I’ve never believed in change for the sake of it and I feel that is what this would be. It would also take the pressure off Morgan and Moxey. Sacking Jacket would appease many fans and it would look as if they were trying to do something to improve the situation. Against that, given we are up for sale any new manager might not be the choice of the new owners. There would be little in the way of a contract I would imagine. Moxey will know this so may stick with KJ.
Sack Jackett now – and preferably shoot Steve ‘the moron’ Morgan and Jez ‘toxic’ Moxey – and install Rob Edwards as coach till the end of the season. Failing that resurrect the late Brian Rix and put him in charge – he was always good in a farce!!
How we have sunk – just five years ago this month we were beating the previously unbeaten Premier League leaders Man Utd complete with Van De Saar, Vidic, Giggs, Rooney, Berbatov etc at Molineux and even gave them a third minute 1-0 head start.
Never mind Brexit I’m voting for Morganexit, Moxeyexit and Jackettexit!!
P.S. if I win the Euro millions on Tuesday I’m paying for Clive to fly over with some of his Trumpie pals and take both Morgan and Moxey out – and I don’t mean for a curry.
I don’t necessarily agree that another manger wouldn’t change things. We are fast becoming Blues under Lee Clark, blaming off the field issues for what is happening on it. Lo and behold, Clark gets the boot and in comes up and coming Rowett and turns it around on a shoestring budget. They are now. competing for the play offs. The midfield selected yesterday was a joke. He may say he has been forced into it but he is playing Siggy, Rowe, Saville and VLP who he has previously judged not good enough. So how can he expect to get results?
An observation from yesterday.
We could and should have won that game easily yesterday. We started the first 10 -20 minutes like the Wolves of old, we were chasing the ball and the player, cutting them down really quickly and surprise surprise the ball was on the deck.
Then all of a sudden, hoof……..
The ball was back and forward in the air like a shuttlecock, players suddenly dropped back into their old ways and squandered the only speck of hope there was.
So Kenny decided to take drastic action, he shifted from his left leg to his right, that was the sum total of his genius as a stratigic wizard. When there was an interuption in play he called RVLP over and started pointing to the opposite side of the pitch.
What he should have done was took RVLP firmly by the throat and throttled him, he’s dropped right back into his old style of hit the deck at every opportunity and the result was he became ineffective.
On a positive note.
My son has promised to donate £10 which will take the Prostate cancer appeal to a staggering £1000 in just 4 weeks, amazing and 75% as a result of your generosity.
I thank you, thank you, thank you, you wonderful people. I will get off your backs now and sit back with a very smug look on my face.
StuWolf
When you are walking with Jeff Stelling and reach the Shadow Dwellers hovel tell him this – an Albion fan’s sister was heavily pregnant and he was extremely excited. “Why so excited?” He was asked. “I can’t wait to find out if I’m going to be an Aunt or an Uncle” he replied.
Three years ago we got relegated with 52/53 points, carn,t see us getting this many points this season. Squad and team selection woeful. Best players from last season sold, injured, or just not selected says it all. Rvl saville Rowe just fit parks players imo.
Thomas imo ,it seems to me that when ever fellow wolves bloggers speak about Hackett you defend him,Why.
Do you think Hackett will ever get us into the premiership,? I don’t think so.
With the way its going under Hackett we could be heading the other way again and dropping into the abyss.
If that happens (God forbid) what would you be saying then.
Its a petty but we all have different opinions on what we perceive to be right for our club.
I know we have lost key players to injury and sales but he’s also brought players in and loaned them out. ,what’s the point in buying player’s we need to strengthen the squad right now then loan them out, can’t see the point that.I think he’s responsible for that or what’s he doing as a coach?.
On the playing side I don’t think the player’s know what to do it seems to me they’ve lost all confidence in what Hackett’s trying to do or is it he’s lost it too.
If we lose Tuesday night I think that if he’s got any dignity he will walk away.
Thomas this isn’t any reflection on what you write but I think your being to kind to KJ.
Can anyone tell me how Bolton can find a potential buyer in the position they are but we can’t?
Easy – Steve ‘moron’ Morgan and Jez ‘toxic’ Moxey weren’t involved!
Yep you can buy them for £1
Two letters and two numbers will solve all our problems
AK 47
Slightly drastic, but effective and permanent!
Getting rid of Jackett is a no brainer, no brainer in the sense that we must keep him.
McDickwadhead was fucked off after we unluckily lost to the shit, and who replaced him?
Yeah, clipbored, who proceeded to become the worst manager, ever, in Wolves history.
We all know this season is shot, and we are most deffo in a relegation fight, so lets get the seige mentality going, us against those two fuckin’ wankers who run the club, and prove that whatever happens, we are 100% in our support of the club, but 100% united in our disdain of them two.
Turn up in our droves to cheer on the players, whom so ever is picked, and hurl insults and unending abuse at rudolph and greasel.
Fuck them both and the horse they rode in on, we will be here long after they are gone.
Now if only they would vacation in Texas………
Lovely result from Reading yesterday

Captain Kirk off Star Trek was fond of saying ‘Beam me up Scottie”. Yesterday at about 4.50 pm I was wishing I could have been transported back um from cold wet and windy Huddersfield. I kicked off at 10.30 in the Cherry Tree. I asked the (rather attractive) lady behind the bar of the availabilty of other drinking establishments in the vicinity. She explained there were ‘loads down the side of McDonalds’. After a sausage roll/stake bake at Greggs I made my way accordingly. I found a boozer and it was frequented by Huddersfield ‘fans’ in Stone Island attire. I quickly drank up and moved on. Next pub was full of Wolves ‘fans’ similarly clad in hooligan gear. But never mind. Good juke box (with a punk section) and a good couple of jars. So yes, we are shit and need ambitious new owners but the loyalty of our fans is brilliant. Luckily we will avoid relegation and let’s hope for a sea change in fortunes. Anyone notice the ‘family orientated’ fans at Sandwell assaulting their own players with missiles. Med me loff . Self righteous wankers ! Out of darkness cometh light.
Am I alone in thinking that another loss is not such a bad thing in the long term; surely a scrappy win would deflect attention from the bigger picture. Eventually this situation will get Morgan’s attention as his ownership becomes increasingly embarrassing to him; you can bet that when things were going well for Wolves, he was keen to take the credit. Can you imaging that his social circle, family and professional colleagues no longer mention his ownership – no, sooner or later, the attention Wolves continually attracts has to impact upon the PR coming out of Redrow.
I guess what I’m hoping for is the ‘straw that finally breaks Morgan’s back’ and he is forced to act to save face – a longer run without a win may just do it.
Lupus you have touched upon a very delicate subject there and pretty much my own feeling. As blasphemous and treacherous as it sounds….is relegation what we should be hoping for ?
Quite obviously the answer is “no” but it may be a blessing in disguise.
The asking price for the club would presumably come down to within the reach of more potential suitors and we might even be the best salary payer in League 1 which will enable us to buy the very cream of League 2 and the Conference.
Graham Turner used to do that to good effect.
I can’t believe both of you saying that it’s bad enough to experience the double drop but to go down again doesn’t bare thinking about…Crazy
Being Positive = PL one way or the other..
Ledbury , no your not alone , I recen posted similarly, my thoughts were to lose a buch of games to keep the pressure on but do enough on the last day to just stay up ! This makes life very uncomfortable for the peanuts running the club and gives us all a modicum of excitement as the season comes to an end, I did however feel a bit embarrassed posting this though as its easier for me to do so as I’m not living in blighty! So I understand if I get told to shut the feck up by any of the paying fans . I just think short term pain. Long term gain maybe. Utw
The problem at Wolves is very simple really.
The priority of neither the owner nor the CEO nor the coach is a winning football team.
Yes, they’d all like that as well ideally but…
Morgan’s priority is to make the biggest profit he can on his very generous investment of £10.
Moxey’s priority is to keep the best job he’s ever had and his thousands of pounds a week wages which he achieves by ensuring Morgan achieves HIS priority.
Jacket’s priority is to keep the best job he’s ever had or ever likely to have. So he keeps his head down and tows the line.
It’s only the supporters whose priority is to watch a winning team and as long as the fans keep going they don’t give a shit about that.
Hi Thomas, totally agree – “Firstly, the club don’t pay decent salaries. Several reliable sources have told me there’s a stringent cap that makes us among the lowest payers in the Championship.” all as I have said in my recent posts.
If you pay peanuts you get monkeys.
Remember we had Sako, Dicko and Afobe front line.
Sako gave us a chance to get to Prem with him – no investment so we failed
Dicko – what did happen v QPR at home ? best football of season first half, then Dicko (not injured) subbed at half time and we lose and have never really recovered since then.
Afobe gave us a chance to get to Prem with him – no investment (said the mighty Bournemouth paid him 4 times the wages !!!!) Cannot blame the man who would turn down that wage increase ?
So we are back to who should carry the can No 1) is Morgan he’s the real reason at all stages above he did not invest when we had the chance. For a man who has such a business head (Redrow) I am surprised by his inability to spot oppurtunities when they arise to get us to the Prem and the cash rewards that come with it, although it does take bottle and faith in other people to spend your money wisely, although I would suggest that at the time of Sako,Dicko and Afobe this was a no brainer. The time to spend is when your on the up not stagnating.
No 2) Moxey – you could say he does a good job for Morgan in that if you want a tight fisted b—–d in charge then he is your man. At Stoke they had the same policy but to be fair to him Stoke only really improved when the bookmaker owner took over, weather Moxey could change if he was released from his money shackles set by Morgan I doubt it.
I think Kenny is taking the p–s with his team selections as he is as frustrated as everyone else is at the inability of the man at the top to see that he is destroying what he had (need a target man – who do we get Grant Holt you could not make it up).
Morgan either put in more money alter the rigid low wage structure(not really what I want/expect) or F–K O-F Now – Do the decent thing and sell for a £10 to someone with the money vision and love of the Wolves.
Just read that back take out the want from the last paragraph and leave in the expect.
I’m away on hol’s at the moment in a place where enlightenment is the way to personal fulfillment.
I’ve only just been able to enlighten myself with the result of Saturdays game but found little fulfillment there. 🙁
I’ve just been to visit a magnificently massive golden Buddah and read much about self-improvement and karma. I can only hope that Kenny and the players have also been learning of Buddah’s teachings, ’cause Morgan and Moxey ain’t gonna dig us out of this hole.
Improvement can only come from within.
Glad to hear you’re having a great time in sandwell.
Just beware of flying coins!
Enlightenment? In Sandwell? You’re ‘avin’ a laugh.
Here’s a cryptic history clue for all Wolves fans.
It will test how Mutch you know about our club.
“It was thirty years ago today”.
Was it the day we signed Andy Mutch
You’ve got it.
If only he was thirty years younger.
Didnt we have some other bloke to play up front with Mutchy, who came from the dark side?
Forget his name now, couldnt have been any good, didnt score many nor set any records, as I recall.
Load of Bull if you ask me!
If Tipton is the dark side you are spot on Clive.
The sainted BULLY was born not far from me in Tipton
If our wage structure is so tight/limited maybe we are looking in the wrong place for players. I watch a fair bit of the Bundesliga on TV, (not the worst league in the World), and their clubs have a tendency to seek out cheap talent in Central/Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
Given that many of these countries have currencies that from time to time go into melt-down (look at Ukraine recently, Bulgaria in the recent past) its obvious that (a) talented players would want to leave if they are paid in the local (valueless) currency and (b) clubs would be looking to offload their talented players if they are paying them in hard currrency which they can no longer afford because of the exchange rate. Food for thought.
Wolfman
We could do worse than look over here for talent.
My grandson is pretty darn good, is seven years old, so one for the future!!!

There is everything to play for this season. By “everything” I mean, just survival…
It’s not all about money and support from above. Birmingham have shown what can be done with little money. Quite honestly, if they had our money, they would throw their’s away.
Kenny is showing every sign of running out of ideas. We played badly in that jammy 4-match winning run. We are playing badly now and losing. Losses against Brentford and Derby this week could see Morgan pressing the panic button. There are managers we could bring in to turn things around, especially with the loan window still open. Don’t wait till it closes.
I see RVP is now taking the p@ss out of us wolves fans on Twitter. He could suffer at the next home game.
Why wait until Saturday.
We can let him have it at Griffin Park tomorrow night, if Kenny keeps persevering with the numpty!
What a complete and utter waste of space masquerading as a so-called professional footballer!
UTW!
Thanks Thomas you have provided some balance to the arguments. I was getting pretty down reading the ‘other site’ having been firmly behind Jackett since his appointment. Frankly I don’t have the knowledge to assess the merits of playing all 3 in combination but I think having signed Rowe, Saville and Coady he his giving them a chance to prove their worth, with Byrne waiting in the wings for another chance.
I’ve only seen the highlights but as out scandinavian blogger observes its nice to see Mason and Sigurdason linking well; surely a goal or two are not far away.
One other point; we all creamed over the great VLP performance the other week; he really needs to repay Jackett for the privilege of wearing the Wolves shirt and pull out a few more performances like that.
I’ve just seen the deleted VLP tweet ‘One week they love you. Next week they hate you. Both weeks I got paid’. I just keep backing the losers don’t I.
Having seen so many examples of these overpaid Prima Donuts in the press the last few weeks, the immature words from RVLP does not really bother me.
But his performances, or lack of, is the thing that is really “taking the Piss”
Sorry Clive.
Like the yanks during the war, with RVLP it’s a case of over paid, over rated and over here.
Moxey has just tweeted, ” one week they hate you, next week they hate you. Both weeks I ate pies” 🙂
RVLP is shit. EPL no chance. Probly do a job in the eindoven 2nd division.
God help us. That c**t Farage on front page of the Tory E and S. If the tax payer bails out the public school bankers why not the steel industry?
If we lose tomorrow and Saturday, what will the feelings of the happy clappers be?
and I for one hope we win both, like all wolves supporters I want success and want us to get to the point where we are safe in the championshite.
But what happens in the next week will be a major turning point in our season with not winning
in six that could turn into eight.
This season has been a total disappointment and not all of jackets doing to be fair, theirs been a culmination of things gone wrong mostly with MORON deciding to throw in the towel when we were on the brink of a push for the premiership or at least the play offs from where we were last season. With the right investment early doors we could have been in a better position to where we are in now, struggling to pick up a single win, some of which is down to jackett’s tinkering.
Talking is good but its actions what’s needed to win games.UTW.
I don’t think there are ANY ‘happy clappers’ on the Wolves Blog.
We all realise that there is something drastically wrong with our club, it’s just that we have different views as to how things can be made better.
That’s what makes the Blog such a riveting read.
War and Peace eat your heart out.
To be fair there are some that have had the clap…..anyway isnt there a match tonight put that pic of KJ down.
Talking of the Clap. (Colin, you promised not to say)
I had to go to the doctors yesterday, he’s not sure whether my recent umpleasant symptoms are a result of Dementia or Syphylis.
Quite understandably my wife is concerned and asked him “how she could be sure”.
He told her to, “pop me in a taxi and drop me off in the centre of Brum, if I find my way home, done sleep with me”.
The old one’s are the best.
You all know the saying “Shite rolls downhill” Well WWFC are living breathing proof of that saying. The wage cap is always going to be a problem until someone with vision buys the club. When that might be no one knows. You can’t bring a team capable of winning the championship through the academy, never going to happen. So you have to buy some established players or ageing players from the premiership clubs, but how can you do that with a wage cap. Afobe 4 times his wages to a club who might be relegated, no one will ever be able to turn that sort of money down.
If Bully were playing now, how much would he be worth?
So can you imagine the job description for a new manager, and that’s what we want WE DO NOT WANT A HEAD COACH.
This rudderless ship needs a new crew. Very soon, the result of failing again does not bear thinking about.
