It’s difficult to know if the reverse of this fixture will also be a top of the table clash but today’s contest certainly lived up to its billing.
With the home side irrepressible in the first 45 and anything but in the second, it was the cliched game of two halves.
The main takeaway for Walter Zenga though was another slow start, with the opening and ultimately decisive goal nothing short of shambolic. Despite our clean sheets against Reading and Ipswich, our defensive deficiencies are all too apparent.
Much has been made of Danny Batth’s improvement under Zenga’s tutelage but the skipper was caught out badly in the build up to the goal, with pantomime villain Rajiv Van La Parra also afforded far too much space to tuck home on the rebound.
Huddersfield fans clearly haven’t gotten to know their new number 17 all that well, given the adulation they bestowed upon him throughout proceedings, but nobody can deny the quality of his performance today. What a shame that he only bothers to muster up this level of effort so infrequently.
Coady was arguably our best player again, though his knack for breaking up opposition attacks was largely wasted at right back. On the opposite side, Doherty turned in another typically swashbuckling performance. I can’t recall a more drastically improved player from time supporting the club.
Less impressive were Edwards and Saville, both of whom were deservedly hooked. Their limitations were pretty glaring and the fact all of the substitutes improved us drastically is unlikely to do them many favours.
Both centre backs were also poor and I’d suggest recruitment in that area needs to be considered a priority in the remaining days of the window.
As I type up this report on the coach back to Molineux, a fellow traveler has already hit the nail on the head with a succinct summary that we can’t afford to be a ’45 minute team’ if we want to achieve success this year.
Sluggish starts have been an alarming trend of Zenga’s tenure to date and although almost every other aspect of the Italian’s management has been peachy it’s a habit that needs addressing.
Still, it’s important that we remain level headed given the turbulent nature of the club’s summer activities.
I doubt there’s a Wolves fan among us that expect today’s lineup to be anything like the one that finishes the season and one suspects that patience will be required for a good while yet.
With a host of new signings to bed in and some sorely missed first team players due back from injury, it’ll take time for Zenga to identify his key players and the correct system for them to play in.
Our second half display at least suggests in time we’ll have a very good side on our hands.
Today was a frustrating blemish on an otherwise solid start and it’ll be interesting to see how we pick up again in a fortnight.

Interesting that Walt’s team selection has so far surprisingly been highly dependent on the original squad. This might just be that he is easing the new boys in at a sensible pace. It might also mean that players are being bought without much input from him. Given that each time the new boys have played from the start or as substitutes they seem to have improved the team, I hope it’s the former and that the transition to a new team is being taken at a slightly slower pace than the whirlwind of transfers.
It didn’t work out so well this time though. I didn’t watch the match so I can’t for sure know what went wrong. Wagner has learned his lesson from Klopp (as former assistant), and the way Huddersfield play have some common features with Liverpool (pressure, pressure). In hindsight perhaps we could have done better with highly technical skilled players in the team?
Impressively quick stuff Rasmin.
I don’t expect anyone has ghostwritten it for you either.
Sounds like we can’t do first halves.
Also sounds like our defence has not improved on its leaky performances of last season and,
Doherty apart, we need to do much, much better.
Over to you Mr Zenga.
Earn your bread mate.
Focaccia or ciabatta?
Nice one Bedford.
I toast you!
Thanks DOOGooder, I can confirm there was no ghost writer involvement in this post! Expecting an interesting four days ahead, hoping to see an experienced CB join and Saiss. Don’t know a lot about the latter other than what the E&S have reported but sounds like he has the right attributes for the present team. UTW!
Only heard the radio commentary but first half sounded one way traffic. Feared the worst when l saw a midfield 3 with both Saville and Edwards.
Huddersfield little more than well organised with some on trend game management towards the end. RVLP one of the many players Jackett didnt get the best out of last season and it came back to bite us. Also still question marks over the defence shame because any sort of solid performance would have earned a point. I would put Jackson in left back move Doherty back to the right and put Coady back in midfield ( last comment dedicated to Bedders).
Appreciated. Yet again Coady had another good game by all accounts.
Speaking of slow starts, I’d not put that down to Zenga. It seems to have been a problem for Wolves for a while now…
Eeverything is going to be ok
Up the mighty wolves !
A first half representative of KJ with the commentary ‘Oh no it’s VLP on to a mistake by Danny Batth’..who else
Would it of been…
WZ I firmly believe has seen enough and Mendes is on the case..
Saiss seems to be a midfield defender but after our ‘pitch and miss’ regards the Brazilian no 5 then I would claim that we need one even more..
I’m like a record.
I just can’t see us being the real deal until we strengthen the back the weakness is there there there..
Add a marquee signing – a god like bloke to add to our current guy Iceman then we should be there give or take injuries..
Then there is my secret weapon Sako of course lol
So..predictable in some ways. second half all Zenga and of course we could of scored and got a penalty and be top of the league..
Close and yet so far as our current defence IMO will keep us in this league..
COYW and Sako please.
Thanks for an impressively quick write-up. I’m wondering why WZ continues to play so many of the ‘old guard’ when its clear that the new signings are (largely) an improvement. Maybe its a psychological thing – he wants them to know that there are still places for them in his squad and they are not simply going to be left out in the cold and hence demotivated ? Saiss must surely start at the back after today…
No problem wolfman. I can only presume he’s trying to bed the new boys in gently. Would imagine the team will look very different when we line up against Burton.
Zenga is allowing last year’s players to play themselves off of the team. They will not be able to complain that thy were not given a chance.
Smart move.
I’m not sure I entirely agree mate.
Throwing away what could amount to a six pointer at the end of the season just to prove a point seems a bit of a strange way of going about securing promotion.
I don’t think in any way we “threw away the game” nor, at the end of the season, it will be considered a crucial “six pointer.”
I’m not saying we did mate.
I’m disagreeing with the point made by Tim.
As far as a six pointer is concerned, we won’t know until the end of the season.
I am not talking about this game but the beginning of the season. They have shown time and again that they need to be rescued by the new players in the second half.
He may want to use those in best shape and those are last years alumni but he is also allowing them to show they are not good enough.
Didn’t go but went last week, almost drew/won. RVLP the villain, a player I thought was a waste of space for us.
Zenga is clearly not rushing things by putting in a new side from the outset.
From what I’ve seen so far we look a good side. Just a bit more quality needed.
Maybe a settled defence will help, not sure about switching Hause for Iorfa. I’d go with Hause.
Long season and we’ll need to step it up after the break. But still think it’s very promising, we do have depth in some areas, but would like to see a quality central defender to come in.
Looks like being a very competitive league, so can’t afford to switch off for too many first halves.
Well, that brought us back down to earth with a bump, we are being worked out already, slow starters so smash them early on.
Walter will sort it out, pedestrian, ball watching defending is simply not good enough .
Sorry old school but some of you just aren’t good enough or switched on enough and it seems Walters intention is to have a complete rotational squad who are all switched on and good enough to step straight in seamlessly.
This I feel may take a little longer than just this season . But no worry it will be done which is why we won’t moan if we don’t do it this time around.
Crazy thing is we could well have won it in the end and I would bet we finish higher than udders field come next may but wether Walters dream squad will be be in situ by then is another matter.
My 5-2 prediction will be stored for the return leg . Fowb
Disappointed with the result like everyone,i thought we would win it by the odd goal.
A bit surprised with with the side W Z started with I thought he would’ve mixed it up with the new signings.
With the break now, perhaps he will start looking at different combinations of play because we need to start right from the whistle and not leave it until the second half before we get going.
I know D Bhaat played well but he must cut out silly mistakes that seem to cost us every time.
Having said that reports are saying we had a good goal rubbed out and another peno denighed by dodgy officials.
Wolves are a decent side and Walter states tonight that he is learning.
In the season so far Wolves possession has been nothing like last year yet we are very dangerous.
Today early on it was Burnleyesque 19% increasing to a lofty 27% after 30 mins but we weathered the storm and had as many good chances.
In the second half we restricted Huddersfield to nothing but we just could,nt score.
Wolves Blogger there is no need to worry too much, that even with the power in reserve that we have, we will not win all games.
Willamsom and Saiss when both available will impact at the back greatly.
Walter in interview has set his goal at winning 26 games, that is only 24 more to win from the remaining 41.
The future is bright like Wolves home shirts orange.
Not to wear our traditional strip on away days like today is so disappointing yet fans must prefer pastel colours just as the commercial department wants them too.
A break now with the U23s dipping their toes on Tuesday, into the mans world.
I think WZ is giving the old guard a reasonable chance and that is only fair. However he will become familiar with who is of a decent standard as we go. Clearly WZ is really trying to build a supremely commited team by involving all players. The new ones will be introduced and the team sheet in April is sure to be radically different to now? Don’t forget WZ is still in ‘pre season’ even though we are 5 games in.Patience is the key at the moment.
Ironically this may have actually been the best result for Wolves, to galvanize Zenga’s resolve to continue to strengthen before the deadline shuts, and not be lulled into a false “top-of-the-table” sense of security (not that I think he would anyway). There really is no room for players like Saville on this team if we’re really mounting a serious effort at promotion. My guess is that Zenga is waiting for the new recruits to get fit, and over time, most of last year’s players will be gone. It’s all good. Can’t win them all, and if you’re going to lose some, this was probably a good one so now Zenga can spend the next 2 weeks working on his improvements from what he saw today.
Go Wolves!
Agreed. If we had won 3 nil would Fosun have put away the cheque book?
Welcome to our world Melbourne, much better than Wolves rumours eh!
Stick with us buddy, enjoy the ride.
Thanks StuWolf It is great to find a blog of fans giving a range of opinions. It is difficult to keep up to date from Melbourne. I was saddened when TeamTalk went to shit but i have found this blog to give me all the Wolves insight. Thanks to all for having opinions!
Welcome to the blog mate. Start saving your pennies so you can get down for the end of season gathering in Wolverhampton. You will be glad you did.
The more we buy, the more the old guard get to play.
The back line need the proverbial kick up the arse, by being dropped, and others take their place.
So far, the new guys have not had a real sniff and WZ only has to watch one of the videos from last season, any one, and he should see how crap they were.
Also, if he watched Edwards in Wales guise, he would see how he flutters around without really touching the ball.
We screamed for new managerial blood, we got it, and he’s doing ok.
We screamed for new players, we got them.
Now play the buggers, or what’s the point?
Jeff wont be happy spending all this money, and seeing them all getting bench splinters.
They have now got a fortnight to get them all match fit.
After that there are no excuses.
Tony Daly needs to earn his salt now.
At least the Villa got stuffed today.
FOwb
See your point Clive but I don’t think Jeff will give a damn who plays as long as we’re pushing for promotion. And I want Walt to pick the team according to his own criteria, not Jeff because he’s authorised spending company money on ’em.
Don’t panic. Not a good result but better things will come when we start replacing those who are failing with the new guys when they are match fit.
Can’t wait for a prolific striker who scores for fun comes in as that is what stopped us getting any points today. We kept them out for the majority of the game, they were no threat to us at all in the 2nd half and yet we failed to score.
‘Can’t wait for a prolific striker who scores for fun’
That may well be Dicko if he gets the chance to play off either JDB or Gladon.
As I said in my incorrect (from the heart not the head prediction) All good things come to an end. Slow starting is not a WZ issue, it has haunted us for some time. I am encouraged by the second half efforts which could so easily have made the result very different.
In my book WZ is killing two birds one stone, by giving existing players every opportunity to prove themselves while new players are groomed into the Championship and team. I see todays result as nought but a minor bump in the road to the Premiership. UTW
What’s with the”giving the old team players a chance to prove themselves? For heaven’s sake why not play the best players from the start – and in their strongest position! Why is Coady (midfielder) playing at right back and Docherty -who is a right back, playing at left back? I thought it would be quite simple, Docherty at right back, Coady in midfield with Price. We now have a young and promising LB. FFS, use him. Costa and Tex played admirably together. Use them! These new players are all fit and ready to go, otherwise we shouldn’t have bought them. Using the wrong players has messed up my prediction, so I am annoyed !
Let’s hope that the two week international break sees our new players get up to speed, Romain Saisse signed and Dicko ready for action.
Then we could line up against Burton on 10 September like this;
Ikeme
Silvio Iorfa Batth Borthwick-Jackson
Oniangue Saisse Teixiera
Costa Bodvarsson John
Subs: Lonergan, Doherty, Hause, Coady, Mason, Gladon, Dicko
Time to get rid off the likes of Henry, Saville, Evans, Byrne etc and make certain others squad players rather than starters or even subs.
Nooooooooooo, I would not include Iorfa, have you been watching him, he only has a right foot and slows play down, is indecisive and is a liability. I cringed every time he went near the ball yesterday. It seems most on this site are wearing rose tinted glasses, the team was crap yesterday and WZ did not have a clue. If you play a KJ team, you get a KJ result, it’s not rocket science.
Bill – I have been watching Iorfa, often being played out of position or being moved from right back to centre back which must be unsettling. I don’t agree we were crap yesterday at all. Goal disallowed, hit the post, penalty denied, their keeper made some good saves etc. Equally I certainly don’t agree that WZ didn’t have a clue. He is a clever, intelligent coach who at the moment is limited by the players he has who are actually match fit. My only real disappointment yesterday was why the hell we had to play in that awful lime green kit. I mean blue and white stripes and old gold hardly clash do they.
My thoughts exactly ! When they ran out on to the pitch in lime green I nearly brought up my expensive John Smiths and to make matters worse there goal keeper was in lime green too !! Great day out, better days to come.
I bet there’s a clause somewhere setting out a minimum number of times the away strip has to be worn.
Agree with you Bedford that the original strip colours will NEVER being construed as clashing.
Bedford.
That’s the best team we could put out and certainly the best one youv’e put down since you started. Nice one buddy 100% with that team.
Nice combination though I would prefer Doc at right back and Silvio at CB with DB/Iorfa/Hause (any of the three) and BJ at LB.
Disappointed with the result but the old guard can’t say they weren’t given a chance. Also, the defeat should give added impetus to further strengthen over the last few days of this transfer window.
Hopefully, the break will enable the new guys to bed in and the team to kick on again.
Disappointed with the defeat but a game is 90mins not 45.
Surprised more of our new signings didn’t make the starting line-up but we’ve been undefeated so far this season and there is the question ‘should you change a winning team’. Whether your answer to that is yes or no is irrelevant as now we have lost one, changes, I’m sure, will follow.
I really don’t know, from personal experience, if our new players waiting in the wings are actually any good as I’ve never seen them kick a ball. But there are certainly shortcomings aplenty in our starting line-up yesterday and maybe Walt doesn’t play the newbies from the start so he can get the reputation of a manager whose sub’s always do the business.
Dunno what the hold up is with Saiss. Let’s hope he’s not doing ‘a Talisca’.
Still, I remain confident we’ll be there or thereabouts come seasons end.
We could easily have won this game with our shooting boots on. Positive hell yes, let’s see who else is brought in. The players now have another 2 weeks to gel and Walter has more time to implement his tactics. I have looked on a few other sites and unbelievably already slating zenga the team and the owners, embarrassing to be honest.
I would have taken 8 points from the first 5 games.
We are playing our pre season.
It is not possible for new owners to implement a complete overhaul in a month.
Zenga has done well with players who stood out as crap last year.
Integrating their replacements is no easy task, but the international break and end of the transfer window should give him the opportunity, to get everyone up to standard.
There will, I’m sure, be more transfers this week, both in and out.
I hear Burnley have offered £3.25m for Jack Price will he go? – His opportunities, if Saiss signs, will be limited to the bench.
It is too early to be freaking out about one defeat, even though I hope it is the last one of the season.
If Jack Price is actually worth £3.25mill then we certainly shouldn’t be selling him. Whoever else we get in will get injured/lose form etc and a £3.25mill replacement on the bench is an ideal situation for a promotion team.
Disappointed with the result but not the performance. I bet their keeper is in the championship team of the week after his performance yesterday.
However we can`t keep giving the opposition soft goals with schoolboy like mistakes, and I`m sorry but Danny Batth was culpable again I`m afraid. I`m sure a pacey experienced quality central defender isn`t too far away.
Walter is getting far more out of last years players that KJ ever managed, maybe no choice to play these while the new lads get up to speed, both in fitness and how the manager wants them to play. My spies tell me the manure left back was exceptional in his 14 or so games in the prem last season, be crazy not to play him when he`s ready and switch Docherty to right back. Uddersfield worked out Docherty`s threat at set pieces and put their biggest midfielder to mark him.
I`m sure the starting eleven against Burton will be very different.
Lets hope its a minor blip.
I hope your wrong about Price Robin. He in my opinion has the potential to be a top draw midfielder. If he could add a couple of goals and consistency to his game we would have a fantastic player. Very underrated and it shows when he is not playing.
Me too, Honey badger, hope he stays, but he won’t be first choice DFM….
Honeybadger.
It showed it yesterday, because he wasn’t playing.
He dropped his usually high standard and it showed, too many misplaced passes when we were taking control cost us continued pressure on a rapidly tiring Huddersfield side.
Steve Showcase, stand up mate, take a bow and collect your well deserved spotter of the season award.
We need a No 5., We need a No 5, We need a No 5
I can even see Steve saying it in my sleep, but I have been with him from day one on that one, because it is fact. The E&S have the player ratings from yesterday and I can’t argue with them, strangely, the newbies get the best ratings even Onion gets an A plus even though he was on the pitch for the shortest time
We have this great glaring hole in the middle of the park that teams keep exploiting, A Schweinsteiger or someone of that stature that could command the teams respect and scare the crap out of the opposition, marshall our team with praise when we’re good and encouragement when we’re bad. I knocked Danny Batth last year because he was just not doing it, yesterday he slipped bachk into it a bit. He needs help, Iv’e always said he’s not a Captain, an enthusiastic grafter yes but not a Captain. This is not a Danny Batth knocking session here, my point is we need Stevie’s No 5. But the jigsaw puzzle that Walter is building needs that cornerstone to be good, strong and talented, it will be the linch pin and what a pretty picture it will be.
We didn’t play from the start yesterday, we didn’t play 45 minutes and we certainly allowed a really mediocre team to run at us once again. Your big tall skillful commanding No 5 would have sorted that out on the pitch, not having to wait for a roasting from Walter at half time. I was at the game, a World class save and the woodwork stopped us yesterday, not the poor average Huddersfield side that could only muster 45 minutes themselves.
We remain a Work in Progress, the finished article must include Stevie Showcases’s No 5 Walter, preferably my Bastian Schweinsteiger please Jeff.
To the guy that stood next to me all game, (he reads this blog every game but doesn’t contribute) firstly let me apologise, I didn’t get your name or your lovely wifes name, forgive my rudeness. Secondly, come and join us. You were shouting the same expletives as I was so your opinion and views would be welcome on our great site, so please come and join the merry band.
2 weeks off, 4 days to get Bastain Schweinsteiger, it’s doable methinks, we’re Definitely going to see more after yesterdays bad luck
Walter Zenga we need a No 5
.
Did Steve Showcase ever mention us needing a No 5?
Well, that must have passed me by.
As Basil Fawlty might have said:-
“Don’t mention the fact that we need a No 5.
I did once but I think I got away with it”.
Dont mention the Sako (you wont get away with it).
Considering the upheaval over the summer 8 points from the first 5 games plus still in the cup is good work for August. I was expecting a blip yesterday as our away form so far has been awful first half followed by much improved second half and yesterday was more of the same.
Listened to the match on the radio and it seemed Ikeme played okay, Coady and Doherty were the best players, the rest of the starting XI had a bit of a collective poor game and the three subs improved things considerably. Does that sound about right?
I think the international break has come at a good time for us. Get the new players fitter, hopefully sign a decent centre half along with Saiss (will he play centre half or holding midfielder?) and get things gelling together a bit more in training to work out the best XI. We’ve shown against Reading and Blues that we’re capable of really good performances but until things settle down consistency might be a problem.
I have a feeling our season will be decided on how well our new foreign legion adapt to the English Championship. If they do well we can realistically challenge for a play off spot at least. If not then a similar finish to last season will be the outcome. Perhaps a couple of grizzled British players with promotion experience might have helped tie everything together but it seems Fosun are looking almost exclusively at the foreign market.
Whatever happens I’m looking forward to seeing the line up and performances between now and Xmas.
Luisa. Luisa.
If you look at his profile, his CV and his record, he’s definitely the missing piece of this 1000 piece jigsaw.
Go get him Wolves, it’s only money, I can’t think of anyone else better, (apart from Bastian) and he’s not going anywhere.
Nothing to get too concerned about. We sounded well on top second half and on another day would have got a draw or win. Frustrating to give the early goal away, particularly to VLP, who can expect a feisty reception when he returns to Molineux.
But all in all, more positives for me with new singings still to come in.
Another away match – another tale………..
Disconsolate in defeat whilst trudging back up the hill to Huddersfield station after the match to begin the long trek home, I was approached by a Huddersfield supporter with a hair cut similar to the Mohican style and dyed blue and white. He looked quite a fearsome fella – as did his oppo. In his Yorkshire brogue he fronted me “aint it great” he said excitedly. With my still damp Wolves scarf hanging limply over my hunched shoulders (it chucked it down walking to the ground from the pub, once again the BBC weather service cocked it up completely), I was far from amused. “Not really” I said grumpily. “No mate I aint taking the piss honest mate – Leeds lost 3 1 at Notts Forest and everybody hates Leeds. No mate I hope Wolves have a great season and we are both there at the end”. With that he scurried off to the pub – no doubt to get three sheets – and I burst out laughing despite the result. He is right EVERYBODY hates Leeds.
With that, my fellow Bedford Wolf – Tim – and I clambered onto the train to Manchester Piccadilly. Arriving at a heaving Piccadilly and with over 90 minutes wait for the Euston train that stops at Milton Keynes we settled into a bar to sup Boddingtons and watch Manure’s jammy last minute victory over Hull.
We were joined by a fellow supporter in an away top. He was as Scottish as they come with an accent as deep as Kenny Dalglish after a couple of single malt’s.
After exchanging views about the game I asked where he lived – expecting to hear Glasgow or Kilmarnock or some other town north of the Cheviots.
“London” he replied “not far from Charlton’s ground. I am a season ticket holder at Molineux and also try to get to as many away games as possible. Next stop Newcastle”. Blimey this guy is keen or barmy – or a bit of both (as we all are I suppose) – but fair play to him..
“Do you have a preference for a team in Scotland?” I asked.
“Yes Rangers, like most football fans in Scotland we also support an English team and mine is Wolves. In fact I far prefer supporting Wolves to Rangers”.
“Eh” I thought – did I hear that right?
“Why Wolves” I enquired.
“My granddad was born in Wolverhampton” he said.
Ahh – that explained a lot. Family influences run deep in all matters football as we all know.
We chatted for a while before he went to catch the 18.55 to Euston.
What a smashing guy I thought, a real dedicated supporter.
I did not ask his name, which was very remiss of me, but if you are reading this – the Scotsman from South East London – you are a credit to the club and its supporters and I hope we can meet up again.
Ah the game – well not much to add to the header report by Jasmin.
I would like to echo the fact that for the third away game in a row we started as if the team were on a collective dose of tranquilisers for the first 30 minutes or so. You know similar to the drugs they give a tiger before extracting a tooth.
Huddersfield were in our faces from the off whilst we dithered and dallied and disintegrated after 6 minutes when VLP – who ran the defence ragged in the first half – eventually drove the ball home after an almighty mess in the penalty area.
A nightmare start and once again we were chasing a game.
For me both Edwards and Saville were very poor, Price, Mason and Wallace not much better frankly. Bodvarsson had no service to speak of before the break.
However we did get the ball in the net just before half time but I have no idea why it was disallowed as the incident occurred the length of the pitch away.
WZ – credit to him – made changes at half time. Just as Huddersfield had bossed most of the first half, Wolves did the second. With Teixeira coming on followed by Costa and then Prince Wolves went 4-3-3 and were so unfortunate not to come away with a point.
After clouting the woodwork and then seeing shots whistle past either post for me the defining moment came when a Bodvarsson header was arrowing into the corner until a stupendous save by their keeper somehow kept it out. Right out of the Gordon Banks book of goalkeeping techniques. This was right in front if us and arms were already half way up in anticipation.
After that somehow you sensed it was not going to be our day and for the last 10 or 15 minutes Huddersfield came back into it. However Ikeme did not really have a serious save to make all game!
Wolves deserved a point but it was not to be. Maybe we will learn the lesson not to enter the field of play half in deep slumber because as proved today we ain’t always going to claw back the deficit.
I thought Coady had a half decent game – and the substitutions did really well.
Finally a word about the home support – magnificent. All stands joined in and they made a cacophony of noise and the celebrations at the final whistle were amazing. This is what I call “creating a fortress”.
BOG
Oh ..we need a no 5…
Come on everyone lets not let anymore in and look forward to either Wembly or auto promotion ..!
Oh and Sako is injured so we can’t buy him….
yet….
A great write up BOG.
Football supporters Eh?
What a disparate (and desperate in a lot of cases) bunch we are.
And we nearly all have other teams we support or hate.
Oxford Utd is my other English side and Berwick Rangers are the team up north that I always look out for.
One ‘cos I was born there and the other because they’re really English and I like it when they beat the Jocks.
Sorry Stu. Only joshing.
And, of course, Leeds.
But ‘We all hate Leeds and Leeds and Leeds and….’
Hello Doog –
Without a doubt we are disparate and in my
case bloody desperate supporters. After a lifetime watching us go up and down like a barmaids draws I suppose we get this mentality.
If I had to choose a club in Scotland I suppose it would be St Johnstone – purely because I like Perth and the Saints are the only league club in England and Scotland with “J” in the name.
Rather tenuous but never mind.
I used to have a secret admiration for Burnley for some reason – this rapidly disappeared when their morons bricked the coaches after we won 3 0 at Turf Moor in 1988.
Now – well in the highly unlikely event (I hope) of Wolves going under I would now transfer to Bedford Town FC. I have watched them a few times and they are utter crap – two successive relegations and facing bankruptcy.
Reminded me of all things Molineux circa 1982 and so on.
Finally and most important of all – after Maine Road 1973 and the bribery scandal of 1972 and the Revie sting and the dirty filthy bastards such as Bremner and Giles and Hunter etc and their obnoxious supporters – I wholeheartedly agree
“We all fucking hate Leeds”
All the best
BOG.
Having watched the match highlights on several different sources, nobody seems to want to show Joe Mason’s disallowed goal. On the radio commentary, they hinted he may not have actually been offside or it was at least a marginal decision. I’d like to see for myself but no-one is including it.
WHY???
Zenga out !……………………
😉
BOG. Great post about Wolves fans in and from strange places. I remember when a few of us went out to Oz for the Ashes in 2002/2003 i think. To break the flight up we stopped a couple nights in Bangkok (very intetesting couple of nights it was). Any way in to a bar we went. A couple of our gang obviously in Wolves shirts. A burly chap clutching a beer approaches us lifts up his t shirt and “Cannock Wolves” is a large tatoo on his belly. Good lad he was and a few beers were shared. Turns out he lived and worked over there. On to Oz and it is 11.30 at night in a British bar in Melbourne. On telly is Wolves v Blues live (12.30 afternoon kick off). Aussie bloke in front of screen in Wolves top. Turns out he was born and bred in Oz but his great grandad from Penn! Finally on to Sydney at the SCG test match. I have the Wolves shirt on. Aussie bloke in Wolves shirt comes over. Again family ties to Wolvo. After i asked why Wolves he said “well mate I was gonna support Liverpool but me old man slapped me round a bit and said ‘you’re fakin Wolves”. Priceless !
Hello Cheeseburger
Ha ha ha – wonderful.
A smashing read which really made me chuckle long and loud. I can just picture the Cannock Wolves guy in my minds eye. Ha ha ha brilliant.
It’s simply amazing that wherever we find ourselves around the globe a Wolves supporter appears.
Marvellous!!
Best club on the world – bar none.
BOG
Score more goals, win more games – simple!!!
Can anyone tell me where Edwards was going after the game? I saw him cross the road in front of my car with his suitcase when leaving Huddersfield.*
Have to admit this defeat has got me down. I get all the stuff about over reaction and i am not going all negative but this is the enviroment that makes football what it is today. It is over reaction that has made it the high reward industry it is. Super talented players dont always have to turn up to survive but those on the cusp probably do espeically at a team in a state of flux like Wolves.
What i would say about Danny is he always gives his all, never hides and has not been blessed by having experienced players or inspirational coaches around to lead him. Some of the others i am afraid it might be time up son you have had your chance. And that is not the fault of the fans in modern day football not turning up is a dangerous game to play.
So me and the boss are touring in Alaska a few years ago, and we come to this remote, beautiful lake, not a soul in sight, except a bloke and his wife, wearing what appears from a distance to be Leicester City shirts.
Being the friendly people we are, we approached, and got chatting.
I quickly made it clear as to where my allegiancies lie, and when I told him of my fabulous birthday celebration of a few years earlier, when the boss and I were breakfasting in San Francisco, October 25th, 2003, listening to that weird match from The Mol, Wolves 4 Leicester 3, they both put their heads in their hands.
Turns out they were both at that match, and still couldnt believe how they lost it.
What was most annoying for them was that even in deserted Alaska they had to meet someone who took great delight in taking the piss!
Wherever you go, there we are!!!
Fowb
I suspect like many apparent extroverts WZ is a cautious guy . I really think he is taking his time with new players, we have not made a bad start, and while we were picking up points decided to take his time. From his reactions he does not appreciate losing and I am expecting serious shake up after the break.
The transfer window slams shut Wednesday night at 11pm when that annoying Scottish geezer on Sky will no doubt be slavering away like a mad dog on heat – wearing a yellow tie of course. This got me thinking. Probably for the first time in several years I am wondering if we are going to sign anyone. In recent times of course we have become used to signing no-one and the window was more about would Sako leave or Dicko or Afobe or anyone else half decent. This year it’s different. Nine players already signed – don’t we all miss Morgan and Moxey? – and possibly more to come.
So – who or what do we need?
Someone mentioned a number 5 apparently. Agreed. A quality, experienced centre back , ideally with leadership qualities – and pace – would be good. Victor Lindelof the Swedish international at Benfica would be good but would cost around £8m. Not sure who else. Must be an Italian defender that WZ knows of surely?
Romain Saisse, hopefully, will be the dominant defensive central midfielder (or CDM as my son’s say – I still hark back to when I used to be an inside right and then a right half so I have no chance!) that we have needed for some years.
Another striker? I think you need 4 strikers and with no disrespect to either Ennis or Enobakhare, both of whom I rate highly, I think we need 4 experienced strikers so with Bodvarsson, Gladon and Dicko we need one more. Someone quick – pace is vital in this division – and with an eye for goal. Someone in the mould of an Andre Gray or Callum Wilson. Another Dicko if you like. Don’t think Chris Martin is the answer. Not the right type. Chuba Akpom from Arsenal might be good.
That’s it for me. Three key signings down the spine of the team.
Sales? Personally I think Evans, Edwards, Saville, Henry and Byrne are surplus. Also can’t see much scope for Williamson ever getting a game assuming he ever gets fit. He was signed on an 18 month contract and after 8 months he still hasn’t played a game.
Any other thoughts?
I had some really strange dreams last night.
One involved The PMDG’er, a can of Sainsburys baked beans which had fallen into a swimming pool and a loo which had no walls, just a curtain round it which wouldn’t close properly and I was dying for a crap.
But the really strange one was about a young footballer who was playing for a ‘massive’ club and wasn’t getting the game time that he felt he needed to help his international career.
His manager preferred over paid, over age and over weight players and wouldn’t give him a chance.
But this young chap had unlimited potential.
Pace, skill, an eye for goal and played with no fear.
Our Chinese owners could see his potential and made a really cheeky offer to have him on loan for a season.
Unfortunately, I woke up before I found out whether they secured his services or not.
And the stupid thing is, I can’t remember who the guy was.
All I remember are his initials.
M.R.
Dreams are funny things aren’t they?
Mickey Rourke?
Micah Richards?
Meg Ryan?
Messi and Ronaldo?
It’s not connected to that My Lovely Pond is it ?…
Come on mate it’s all doing my head in this is….!
Got it …..a…Mand…R….

I only pressed it once honest Guv, Gremlins in the system.
I think he is just giving the original team a chance to prove themselves which a few have, improvedo
Let’s just wait for the new players to settle in, it’s early days yet, could,do with a new centre back, and,a centre mid, we will see what happens before deadline day, I said,we would, get a draw so I was a bit pissed we lost.
And that tosser got the winner! Up.the wolves
The E&Slur are saying Wolves to sign 4 more by 11 pm Wednesday.
If this is true then it’s crunch time for Wolves, as these players need to be the quality, fit and match ready signings that finish Walters 14 piece jigsaw.
In reality, if Huddersfield are the benchmark, then we should in theory not lose another game in this league and romp home. Yes, pie in the sky but I think Walter got badly burnt on Saturday and was let down by a lot of players. There is a rumour Barnsley or someone else (Dementia) are after Jack Price, Brompton almost ran Edwards over dragging his suitcase away from Huddersfield. So it has to happen that some of these old guard will inevitably move on, law of averages. So the team as we know it is continually evolving.
I as a fan, I’m more than delighted with things so far, if us mere mortals can see we need a strong central defender in the mold of Alex Rae, Dennis Irwin, Mike Bailey, Frank Munro, Paul Ince type, then they can see it. Not too easy to procure one but I bet we do have a surprise yet to be sprung.
Two more sleeps…..
Bring it on.
Sorry to put a dampener on some peoples’ expectations but doesn’t Edwards plus suitcase mean a trip to join up with the Wales world cup qualifier squad?
That is what I asked earlier when he walked in front of my car. I wondered where he was going.
Yep that put a damper on it alright, let’s hope he takes the train Via Shrewsbury. I seem to recall he did mention he would love to end his football career at the mighty Shrews. Nice bloke and eternally grateful for the good games he had but he’s not one for the future anymore.
Good luck in the World cup Dave, your lot did better than that poor lot from England.
And even better than Scotland who did’nae qualify. Again.
Looks like we are all roughly of one mind..with that super douper centre half a blinding marquee signing and one more then we should hit the top six or do it in style.
Wind ups aside I truely believe if we can sure up the back then our (very comprehensive) midfield and our Trojan strikers should be worth one or two goals EVERY game..
With Walters passion and climbing support I truely think that we are en route to the PL.
And I’ll say it now I don’t expect to have the mentality of we are still building ready for nxt season.
F**k it we should be good enough to do this in one go…
COYW and Sako after he recovers from his injury plse.
They should be good for goals regardless of shoring up the back. We kept them out for the majority of the game but not one single goal was scored – which cost us points.
Always liked dave Edwards tbh but his days in old gold maybe coming to an end , then when he stops playing for Wales he ( like many of the welsh team ) can go back to being English ,
It’s as plain as your nose, we can’t keep playing midfielders as defenders and not every defender we have can cut it at this level (or the level we all now appear to expect).
Doesn’t let the strikers off though, I thought we’d manage at least one goal.
In conclusion; I blame the strip, who the hell thought it was a good idea to send our guys out dressed like something from the Wizard of Oz needs to be made to wear the same colours every day until this garish ‘strip’is withdrawn.
UTW
I think as others have said that we are contracted to wear that monstrosity of a kit a certain number of times a season. Why else when you play a team in blue and white stripes, white shorts and white socks as if there is a clash with old gold, black and old gold it’s lost on me. Mind you I see Arsenal wore their third kit of navy blue and yellow with yellow socks against Watford who of course play in……yellow when surely red and white is much less of a clash? World’s gone barmy.
Even more crazy, check the highlights of the game and take a look at the colour of Huddersfield Goalies kit. It a scandal, it would never have happened in my day. Little wonder we didn’t get the ball in the net we kept passing to the goalie for a simple tap in? Dulux would have struggled to match that colour.
Maybe we’re sponsored by the Jockey Club? Pink with yellow spots next, anybody?
Talk about slow starters, Joe Mason was still in bed when Huddersfield scored. When the first shot hit the post the nearest Wolves player facing the ball was Mason, standing just inside the penalty area. He was closer to the ball than VLP, but when VLP changed direction and whacked it in Mason was still stuck in the same spot just watching.
Hopefully the two week break will mean that some of our new signings will have got up to the required fitness levels which they’ve been lacking due to their home pre-seasons starting much later than ours. Will then be interesting watching Teixeira and Costa do the full 90 minutes, Still feel it’s going to be topsy turvy until the end of October as it will take a while for the newcomers to blend in – Newcastle found it very difficult initially bringing in so many new faces, but have now picked up. Having said that early indications are that our new signings are a step up both in class and footballing skills. The thought of watching skilful players at Molineux once again is mouth-watering.
I think the new owners’ comments that money was never going to be problem may have raised expectations.
I liked Kenny Jackett but boy are his limitations being laid bare by the performance of a lot of players he hardly put on the park. Coady, Wallace , Mason and now RVLP.
No preseason for Zenga has meant he needed to see past players in action, he will now know our weaknesses and strengths. But for me a good mature Captain is needed quickly.
That’s a good point, while he’s got the stature, has Dan got the presence on the pitch?
Mauricio Pinilla 32 year old Chilean from Atalanta bc in Italy anyone?????
Walters No 10?
Can someone get our Walter to give his half time pep talk at 2.45 pm when we play button……..we could just come outta the blocks early enough to knock a few in!
Burton albion not button ,!, predictive gone haywire again
Nicolas Bendtner now being rumoured to be joining us! Hmmmm not sure about him.
In other news Arsenal are prepared to loan out Jack Wilshire till January to get game time. Now THAT would be a fantastic signing. Imagine him in midfield alongside Saiss, Oniangue or Teixiera? Dreams are made of this stuff. Hey Doogie, you sure it was M.R. and not J.W.?
Heya Bedford.
Why on earth would I want Jennifer Warnes in the side?
OK she can hold a tune and has a few decent songs to her name, but I can’t see her hitting 25 goals a season or being the answer to Steve Showcase’s central defender wish.
Tres bien monsieur. Formidable!
Always thought the Warnes woman was a bit lightweight to be honest.
How’s about Jockey Wilson then? As an attacker he can get 60 all day long and in defence would be great at knocking them back.
Jack Wilshire, Bedford? Are our treatment couches any better than those at the Emirates then? If he does come he could at least have a good old chinwag with Tony Daley about all the great games they didn’t play in. If there’s room they could perhaps invite along Geoff Thomas, Darren Anderton and Dave Thomas and have a right rave up but I wouldn’t want to clear up the floor afterwards- it would be strewn with sicknotes!!
A tad harsh I feel Sea Pigeon.
Sure he has had his injury problems but doesn’t mean he isn’t a quality player who in this league could be a match-winner week in and week out.
p.s. you forgot to add our current sicknote Mike Williamson who is currently 8 months into an 18 month contract and still hasn’t kicked a ball yet!
Just coz he plays, or not as the case may be, for Arsenal, doesn’t mean he is a good player.
Vastly over rated in my opinion.
We don’t need prima donnas at The Golden Palace, looking for easy, fat paychecks, we need players who MAKE their reputations with The Wolves, like Waggy, John Richards, Bully etc. etc. etc……….
And NOT Sako, Steve S.
Like I always say one of the great things about football is that we can all watch exactly the same thing but see something completely different.
For me Wilshire is a fantastic talent. Not because he plays for the Arse but because he is. Excellent movement, great distribution, can score, not afraid to get stuck in and above all he has a brilliant football brain. Sure he has been beset with injuries which has blighted his progress but that don’t stop him being a a great player. In my opinion anyway.
If given a choice between a half fit Jack Wilshire and a fully fit Dave Edwards or George Saville then I’m going with Jennifer Warnes every time.
Still all probably academic I guess as the Arse would probably want him playing in the PL on loan and we already look like we have bought or are buying an entire team of midfielders anyway.
p.s. bring back Sako!
Only a tad,Bedford. He’s completed a full 90 minutes in the league just once in the last 2 seasons and only made 121 starts for Arsenal since 2008.
I forgot about Mike, probably because we’ve not seen him at all since he signed.
Anyone have other suggestions for invitations to TD’s sicknote party?
Neil Masters – 4 seasons, 12 appearances.
Vig Power Capsule goodd article
DON’T OPEN the above, Jelly Gaat (goodd article above) It’s not a link to another player.
Some arsehole trading porn and other shite. May even contain a virus.
If you really need Viagra, speak to Clive.
Ivan Carvihalio anyone. 22 year old winger from Portugal can play striker.
Walters No 11 perhaps…
Helder Costa, Ola John, Jordan Graham, Jed Wallace, James Henry, Nathan Byrne
Add another winger to make 7 and that suggests it is adios time for Henry and Byrne at the very least.
That is unless WZ is going for a new formation to bamboozle opponents whereby he plays with 4 wingers at a time. Mind you KJ often used to have 3 wingers on the bench which used to make me wonder how he was planning to use them! Of course we never found out as KJ rarely made more than one substitution.
Can you imagine the likes of Anthony Kay having wet dreams at the thought of having a go at Jack Wilshere?
I wouldn’t give much for his chances.
I wouldn’t give much for anyone’s chances if they had to come up against that Neanderthal thug Antony Kay.
Actually I think London Wolves Loyal might give as he good as he gets.
Welcome to Molineux Romain Saiss. He comes with a good reputation and probably a pretty heavy price tag. These Fosun boys look like they mean business.
Bedders,
London is as soft as all you lot from dahn sahf!!
You only got to look at Wilshire to see that anyone south of Rugby is a wuss.
Or is it south of the Mason- Dixon Line?
Never knew where thats supposed to be.
Cliveo – its like us Londoners always say – we may be soft hearted (love our Mums etc just like Ronnie & Reggie) but them northerners (anyone born north of the M25) are all soft in the head. Plus we talk proper. And we dress better. And we’re all better looking. And are more talented and all are much better endowed. If you don’t agree …………take it up with London Wolves Loyal!
Mason-Dixon line? I heard of the Ziegfried line (as in “we’re gonna hang out the washing on the…..”) and I’ve heard of the Piccadilly line (as in “mind the doors”) but I ain’t never heard of the Mason-Dixon line. Is it a Yankee thing?
I thought it was “south of Bilston.”
Or “Bilston and the south.”
No it’s Hatfield & The North.
This cavaleiro player looks almost as good as Sako..Clive H…very talented indeed..
£13M verses £10M (?) ..you could have your wish that he’s (Saks)not in fact returning..
Unless we have both of course…?
This has been undoubtedly our greatest transfer dealing in the history of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, If this is life in the fast lane up amongst the big boys then “I’m Lovin it”
Christmas is always a good time for everyone, unwrapping presents and celebrating a good year and looking forwards to the next.
Well the 31st August 2016 is our second Christmas, we have had a good year since August and now we’re looking out for those special presents.
Dear Santa Zenga,
I have been a really good Wolves fan, have been to all your games and did my bit as the twelfth man. Please may I have:-
Luisa to shore up that great F’n hole in our midfield as a No 5 for my mate Stevie Showcase
Mauricio Pinilla to stablize midfield.
Ivan Carvalho a decent winger to tear the Burton defence a new arsehole.
As he’s being offered out on loan, could you spare that talented young midfielder Harrison Reed from Southhampton as well.
Oh yes,
Can you please find nice clubs for our old guard to go to, they did try their best but are not up to it.
Loyal Wolves fan.
StuWolf.
Stuey …..You forgot to add ….
Please Mr Zenga …when do the night classes start so that I will know the names of all these newcomers to the Golden Palace and will the courses be at Wulfrun College?
Are they going to offer Part Time day release and 1 Evening or will it be a Full Time course.
Coz I haven’t got a scooby do about who is coming next……
Return of the Stears!!!! Welcome home Richard – for purely footballing reasons of course!!
I agree . I think he will be a lion in the back 4.
What a homecoming that will be and he s going to prove a point .
always liked stears
Wolves U 23’s 0 – 1 Chesterfield
Guess who scored.
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake
God bless the man.
I’ve been racking my brain Linden but can’t think of any footballing reason for Stearman’s return. Please enlighten me. He is fully committed I agree but has poor positional sense and is a mistake waiting to happen in my view.
Doe mind Stears. Dae wanna leave. Wolves fan. Do a job at this level. On loan so no massive outlay. Apart from stears it is all getting quite exciting. We certainly ay standing still that is for sure.
Stu. SEB must av bin enticed by a giant trifle behind the goal. This was pudding after a KFC bucket at half time. But respect to SEB served us well. Never forget his equaliser at man ure with about 20 min left. Went fuckin mental and ended up 4 rows down. Pity they got winner in fergie time was well gutted at the end.
Feckin great game. Played with 10 men for 2/3rds of the game EBL sent off fo clumsy tackle, drew level in the second half, hit the post, Penalty saved. Crowd was 930 with 120 travelling Wolves. Feel good factor cascading down like the good old days.
Oh his name is Richard Stearman
And from Fulham he did come
To play for Walter Zenga’steam
Back in Division One ( Prem)
And if you come to Molineux
You’ll always hear us sing
Pulis is a bastard
And Stearman is the king
Or something like that, you old uns will remember the original words reference Dougan and Astle
I always rated Stearman, glad he’s back
FOwb
Oh my giddy aunt. If this comes off and Stears comes back I will be a very rich man in a very short time as I will be placing some rather large bets on us conceding goals regularly.
I respect his work rate and his enthusiasm and energy, but he will ALWAYS feck up in such a manner that will lead to a goal against.
I shall prepare some stats to prove my point shortly.
Hurry up with your stats please Brompton, as my impression was that Fulham leaked a shedload of goals last season.
Liked Stears as a local lad etc, but don’t want him back – always committed one huge mistake in every game that really cost us.
We need a class experienced CB to anchor the defence and Stears is not the answer.
UTW!
With my self induced paranoia regarding our defenders I just can’t believe that Stears could be coming back..
His previous failure to defend with no positional sense, mistimed tackles, balls bouncing off the top of his head and a lack of speed against forwards and the worst Fulham stats regarding conceding I can only assume Thelwell is in on this and not Mendes.
For me it’s only a slightly better horror story than putting EEL back in the team again..
WZ take notice..’.sold for football reasons’ then meant in the current context that he was crap..was given player of the year deservedly for effort..
My reaction besides disappointment
Of the lack of a quality CH coming in is quite plainly WTF!……
Re Stears:
Clive you are blind and couldn’t count conceded goals – unless you are obviously winding us all up..
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2205102318/permalink/10154393634952319/
Fairly accurate …
Steers: cont..
I’m with you Brompton.. your personal tactics of scoring more than we concede would mean we would need 3 every match and a f**k off goalie.
I’m still reeling..
Moi?
Wind y’all up?
Perish the thought!!
I love Stears
Makes for exciting games!!
I’m already missing my footie and its only Tuesday!
At least we got a Grand Prix from Italia to watch this weekend, wonder if some tribute to the earthquake victims will be forthcoming?
How quickly we forget.
We have morons like Clinton and Trump hogging all the media over here, when there are real tragedies happening in the real world.
Wankers
Rant over, back to the crafty beer
Ok Mr Stearman, please tell us all. What does it really mean “footballing reasons”?
Looks like our wage bill will have trebled over the last couple of months. Good luck to Zenga trying to keep everyone happy! I still think it will take until Christmas to sort out his best team, with 2 players for each position, some of which have not even made their debut yet.
I was one of the majority who thought Stears should never have been sold. Yes he is not perfect but as well as being a decent centre half at least he is good on the ball, more than our current bunch Batth, Iorfa, Hause ,Ebanks-Landell. The distribution from the back and the basic errors made (e.g. Batth on Saturday) is nowhere near good enough.
The full back area now looks strong with Borthwick-Jackson, Silvio, Doherty and even now Coady, but we are still short of a commanding centre half. That’s where big money should have gone, not on yet another winger. Again the squad looks top heavy in the midfield area. Hopefully we can ship a few out Bryne, Henry maybe Saville too.
I didn’t want to see Stears go in the first place so it would be hypocrisy indeed not to welcome his return, should it happen. For sure, our defence suffered in his absence, although I accept that under the new regime I would, perhaps, expect us to aim a little higher.
Be good to know however, that there’s a man out there in a gold shirt who you know is giving it his heart and soul.
The beauty of knowing inside info is that some bloggers who think they know it all don’t half talk a load of bollocks. Why do certain bloggers keep running certain players down. If they are picked to play in a Wolves shirt, then the manager can see something in the player you can’t. Support the team and keep the slagging off to yourself.
Stearman was training with the wolves squad on a friday when he was told you are not wanted go and talk to Fulham as we have accepted an offer for you. As I have said before Wolves had a strict age policy at the time, they wanted Henry out because he was 26 ffs.
That was “football reasons”. They then panic and buy a crocked thirty something, genius. I am glad to see a player back who never wanted to f-ing leave in the first place. Fulham were in freefall when he got there, he is not a miracle worker.
Just a thought.
Last night when rumours started about Stears, I recalled hearing an offer for Iorfa and 2+2 made 5.
Stearman has been taken on loan today, Iorfa is being linked with West Ham in an American newspaper.
Food for thought for the next 12 hours
On the Stearman debate I must admit I’m with Wolf fondler and Honleywolf.
He deservedly got player of the season – players’ player and fans’ player if I’m not mistaken.
Not too many ‘accidents waiting to happen’ that year.
You can give a dog a bad name and it can stick, no matter that the dog has changed.
How many ‘accidents’ have happened in our defence since then?
Rather more than Stears was ever responsible for.
I would say, without too much risk of contradiction, that our defence was much the poorer for the loss of the man.
I neglected to mention that Bullisgod is also in the pro Stears camp.
Sorry mate.
I am at work, so am not yet in a position to put my stats together, but I will be extremely surprised if when I do that I find I am wrong in the fact that we conceded less without him than we did with him.
Return of the Stears, he made some howlers, he made some amazing body on the line stops. I know what I preferred to watch. Of the current crop of our back 4, only two would throw themselves in front of a train for the Wolves.
Me, honestly.
Welcome back Stears, there are a lot of the old guard being given second chances, so why not you.
Nathan Byrne being touted for Wigan today.
Thanks DG, Stearman is always in the frame because he cares too much and tries too hard, trying to rescue every situation when cleverer players hide. He is far from perfect and has the unlucky trait of mistakes resulting in goals almost every time! We have him for a season so lets hope it’s a good one.
……..unlucky trait of mistakes resulting in goals almost every time!
Why would we want someone with that sort of luck. We want to stop conceding!!!
Stearman gives his all and throws his body into blocks and challenges where other ‘better’ players fear or don’t care to tread.
Good luck Stears! Welcome back!
tow house moment and flying high Jelly Gamat
