News of Steve Morgan’s departure appears to have been greeted with more gushing platitudes and watery eyes than a Pride of Britain highlight reel.

Bad enough we’re told ‘supporters should be forever grateful’1, even worse that history is now being rewritten to portray our ex-owner as ‘doing Wolves proud.’2
Steve Morgan was an imposter. A flaky, fly-by-night chairman whose number one, unshakable priority should have been the fortunes of the club he was privileged to have been given for a tenner.
It never was. In his ‘to-do-list’, making Wolves’ football team the very best that it could possibly be was probably scribbled in pencil at the bottom of a Post-It note somewhere, with ‘Compton Park’, ‘land acquisition’ and ‘pointless new stand’ etched in permanent marker pen above.
He sure talked a good game, uttering the following words on a film in the Wolves Museum: “The things that you decide steer the destiny of the club.”
But his decisions regarding the improvement of us as a footballing outfit were absolutely appalling. Indeed, his name was still above the door when Jez Moxey commissioned the ex-CEO of Stockport County to tell us that success was an unreasonable concept.

The lifelong Liverpool fan decided to down tools at the very moment a handful of fans allegedly gave him some stick in a Preston North End car park and left us high and dry, the legacy of which still reeks as we contemplate a new season with the most pathetic, threadbare squad in living memory.
Before that, our wage bill as a percentage of turnover was so restrictive that we couldn’t compete (literally in most fixtures) in the Premier League, despite a three minute warning against Blackburn Rovers in 2011 that his business model was flawed.
(I won’t even mention the timing of the McCarthy sacking in 2012, the Connor appointment thereafter or the abomination that followed in Dean Saunders – nor a sackful of old coals that I daren’t rake over again for the sake of my sanity.)
That he left us on a sound financial footing was precisely because he imposed a strict wage cap on the club in the first place, oversaw the sales of Afobe, Stearman and co and used parachute payments (secured by Mick McCarthy who he declined to thank in his open letter) to finance the running of the club.
He never once speculated (save for the £30 million that was ringfenced for infrastructure), he acculmulated massively through a cash cow of a development at Compton which no journalist has ever investigated the net value of and he dumbed down expectations to unprecedented proportions.
Scott Dann, Steve Sidwell, Nathanial Clyne, Craig Gardner, Andy Carroll, Shane Long, Yohan Cabaye, Callum Wilson and countless others were all linked during Morgan’s tenure, which will be synonymous with the likes of Eggert Jonsson, Geoffrey Mujangi-Bia, Tommy Rowe and all manner of low maintenance dross that cost peanuts.
Transfer deadline days under Morgan weren’t so much miserable exercises in caution, but blue touch papers to ignite yet more division between a fan base now split as ‘happy clappers’ or ‘pant wetters’, depending on your persuasion.
So many social networking feuds could be traced to our ex-owner, who replaced aspiration with pragmatism and has exited the club a far, far wealthier man than when he arrived.
Forgive me if I’m not forever grateful.

He made so many bad decisions he could write a book on how not to run a football club
I agree all knee jerk reactions.
The one thing I could never abide about Morgan is that the bloke never said anything. ‘Silent Steve’ the journalists call him and for good bloody reason.
Jez Moxey was always left to face the music, but for all his status he was just an employee who worked within the confides of his boss.
Morgan leaves a richer man than when he arrived and that was always his primary intention. Anything else was a pleasant bonus.
Had he not given us the ‘heart transplant’ spiel and been more open with supporters throughout his tenure about his true intentions, I would have had significantly more respect for him.
As it is, I’m with Ben – good riddance.
Let’s remember that Morgan could have sold the club earlier, but he insisted on handing the club over to owners which could carry the club onwards. And that’s exactly what he’s done; landed a great deal for everybody. A decent business man for Wolves, he’s been.
Well said KJK and for having the decency to recognise Steve Morgans effort, whilst the majority on this Wolves Blog, are nasty nasty old men without any decency, just self promotional gossip, hearsay and agreement with each other.
I agree 100% with everything you say Ben.
Now let’s all get behind the new owners and make Wolves great again.
Wolves forever.
Brilliant Post
Well said BEN
Onwards and Upwards
Morgan I believe made huge amounts of money out of Wolves.
He capped the footballing side but employed his own builders to develop.
Am sure he walked away at least several million pounds richer…..
Hope I never think of him again!
Steve Morgan owned Wolves you did,nt Tipton exile. When Poundland was took over too recently and as a customer you did,nt own that. So in summing up TE none of your business what he spent or made.
He lied to Sir Jack.
He used us to make money.
Money Shop????
Moxey is the pantomime villain but he only does what he is told by Morgan. That’s his job.
Morgan has treated the cub and the fans with utter contempt and I wish him nothing good for the future and his legacy is one of humiliation, suffering and resentment for me.
Great article. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
no more pies at the match flied rice from now on
PS, I think there are better ways to welcome our new owners than to mock the way they speak.
A revealing article relative to the ‘Takeover’
http://www.skysports.com/football/news/12024/10510103/guillem-balague-talks-to-new-spain-boss-julen-lopetegui
Fascinating stuff Robin Thanks for the link.
On a separate note I have been following developments on Twitter, mollimix, Wolves rumours and the hapless E & S over the last few weeks as we all have.
I have to say that Wolvesblog has provided the best coverage by far. By the fans for the fans.
Excellent stuff, thank you and more of the same please!
The express and star is a perfectly good newspaper
I’m not usually one to speak ill of the departed but yes, apart from the Academy, they’ve been a succession of wasted years under Morgan. Even the promotion to the Prem was constructed more in the previous years than due to his policies. Perhaps Sir Jack did us a disservice when he gave us away for a tenner. If you pay big bucks to buy a club, it must focus the mind a little on making a success of things.
Either way, a whole new regime has taken over and I’d prefer that the Morgan era was now laid to rest in the darkest recesses of our collective memories and only bought out when we threaten to take any future success for granted.
Totally agree Ben.
That Blackburn game still rankles in that Woves were given a clear warning that the club needed upgrading. We know what happened the following season.
I noticed that you did not mention Solbakken. I still wonder what might have been if he had been given funds following the Luton game.
Looking forward to Monday and a new dawn.
Great article Ben.
Though my description of Morgan as a weak, pathetic, timid, small minded, petulant, money grabbing little man is perhaps more colourful.
He’s gone! Rejoice, rejoice!
Spoke little, did less. Bye bye Morgan good luck Norwich. Time to enjoy the new chapter.
The most successful period in terms of top flight status in over thirty years was down to Morgan’s funding of Mccarthy in the Championship. He said all along that after that Wolves would have to be a self sufficient business which is why we couldn’t compete in wages or transfer fees. However, we aren’t in debt which for those of us who are old enough to remember the club almost going under in the 80s is important. That’s down to the leadership of Morgan and Moxey. He also put emphasis on the Academy and is why we have a category 1 academy now. The museum is excellent although the rebuilding of the North bank was unnecessary. He thought Solbakken was an exciting young talented coach and backed him with a lot of money. That it failed so spectacularly is not solely his fault.
He said all along that if the fans wanted him out he would go and now he has having sold us on to a very wealthy new owner with ambitious plans for thirty million which allows him to recoup his investment in us. Maybe he deserves some credit for that. He might have valued the club at a lot more given Albion are apparently worth 100 million.
Clearly he wasn’t perfect but his reign saw a lot of good days and saw some good progress in developing the club. He also put some effort into charity work in the community and saw the link between club and community as important.
I thank him for his efforts in his time in charge. It’s now time to move on with our new ownership and hope they have ambitions that match ours as fans. I daresay many will disagree but I think he did alright.
He did alright with the building projects around Wolverhampton and made a lot of money.
Amanda, How about if I told you that I can honestly say that I have all those qualities that you mention just not in a football, so I have some experience. Now one of my personal favorites, man management is a different ball game, you either have it or you don’t.
I smell a Sandwell Shadow Dweller! Ah bless, wandered into a football forum for grown ups by mistake did you? Stick to your rugby under Tiny Clueless you Muppet!
Well said Satans Power you should consider writing the blog with that balanced assessment.
In no way do I wish to defend Mr Morgan but in an ironic way his tenure may well prove to be the making of the club. I think it is without doubt that Sir Jack would never have sold the club to foreign owners (a mistake in my opinion), so had this offer been put in front of Sir Jack it is highly unlikely that he would have taken it. So in effect we needed a middle man owner like Morgan to enable such a deal to be realised. This in no way exempts Morgan from his feast and famine approach to football club ownership, but it took this sideways step (Morgan’s ownership of the club) to give us the opportunity of what should be a golden future. From that point of view it makes Morgan’s spell in charge much more acceptable.
Respect your opinion WLP but if he had sold it for a £10 then who could argue that financial gain was his motive ….. Nah he unearthed an absolute nugget when he got a tenner for this club.
Money first …… Morgan’s legacy….
I agree re: Sir Jack and got a lot of stick on this blog for saying so. If you look at it another way what Sir Jack did in some people’s eyes could be called racist…………I know that’s not true but in this overly polical age some people could of levelled that at him.
I’m more with Satans Power on this one. It didn’t work out in the end but I believe we have a lot to thank Steve Morgan for and I think he’s left a decent legacy in the new training facilities, youth development and the new north bank. We could have had a lot worse when you look at some other clubs!
No, better to wish him well than slag him off.
Onwards and upwards!
Well said Kford Wolf a truly decent comment..
Morgan has one tick besides his name on the plus side, which will probably never be beaten.
He fannied around for three weeks after sacking McCarthy, and then proceeded to appoint clipbored, who went on to become the worst manager in our entire history, with zero wins in his thankfully short lived time at the helm.
How anyone can defend that scouse git is beyond me.
His only reason for buying the club was to make money by raping it.
If Sir Jack had been asking a fair market price when he sold, we would never have heard of Morgan.
His knowledge of football was and is woeful.
If he had treated his customers in the construction industry as badly as he treated his customers in the football industry, us the fans, his Redrow would be in the shit.
I bet we never see his name linked to ownership of a football club again.
He appointed a bunch of yesmen to hide behind and never came out and said anything.
He made a shed load off his Compton project, which should have been spent on decent players, yet it all disappeared mysteriously, due to some magical moxey accounting.
The man is a crook, a liar and a thief and I echo Ben’s sentiments 100%
Fuck you Morgan, fuck you Moxey.
In the future, you will be spoken off in the same breath as the bhatti brothers, with disdain, utter contempt and derision.
And I bet neither of you will dare set foot near the Molineux ever again.
A glorious day in the history of Wolverhampton Wanderers, when those two slimeballs exited, hopefully never to be heard of again…….. except in the bankruptcy notices!!
I echo every word Clive says about Morgan and Moxey.
I personally hope that HMRC fuck the pair of them on Capital Gains Tax, Laundered money, avoidance of Tax and any other Tax those two bastards have got away with. Offshore accounts ….my arse.
As for the Express and Star …who writes that crap ….still pandering to shit…. Unbelievable …trying to give them a heroes exit …. I’d run them out of town….
Totally agree with Clive and Twixfix, good riddance to both Morgan and Moxey.
Best let’s bygones be bygones and move on – hopefully new exciting era in store.
What a typical dumb spiteful evil comment from one of lifes losers. Twixfix what village do you hail from as I bet you are missed on fun nights ?
Twixfix my dear …has an 2:1 Honours degree and was a director of a £30 million company…what credence in life do you have prickess…….
How dare you judge me ….put some based arguments then…..
Ben and Thomas – clearly Amanda Cape is a typically thick, brainless Sandwell Shadow Dweller who hasn’t got the mental capacity of a 2 year old and should be banned (or put to death, whichever is easier). My guess is that she is a he, massively fat and pug ugly, lives at home with his Mummy despite being in his 50’s, never had a girlfriend let alone sex (apart from with himself) , unemployed and thick as shite. A thoroughly sad and pathetic apology for a human being – like I said, a typical Sandwell Shadow Dweller.
Clive FFS stop beating about the bush an say what yo think.
It will be an even greater day for us Wolves fans when you have gone Clive of India.
I feel a right Smug bathplug after reading this report from Robin above. I was a poster that stated Wolves were being bought and the announcement was to have been made on the Thursday. As it transpired it wasn’t the Thursday but the Thursday after, due to “Red tape according to the Spaniar” this was the reason I came came on and ate humble pie.
This piece by the Spanish guy nails down everything I said was true, Robin Li is involved. A board clearout was to take place, Moron & Poxey were being replaced, a war chest would be made available, The Spanish guy was involved and the only thing I need to see are the players being announced on Monday.
But, I am truly not on here to gloat..
I come on only to say, my contact who had been bang on in the past was not a liar, he has since told me the reason it did not take place last Thursday was, that Morgan was not releasing the Compton training facility and was haggling as he wanted to lease it out instead, thus still having an income from it. I assume that’s why we are hearing £45 & not £40 that was bandied about.
The Spanish coach states above Red tape fecked up his appointment, well now we have a better insight into what could have really happened.
Steve Morgan your legacy is shit mate. Shut the feckin door when you leave you douchebag.
Wolves are Well rid.
End of rant, Onwards & Upwards
Welcome back Stu. What took you so long? So much going on and so much excitement in the air and you take off. Like I said, welcome back.
So Morgan still wanted his pound of flesh from his ten pounds investment.
Morgan must have some scottish ancestry.
Welcome back Stu.
‘My conract indeed ‘. Who do you think you are gossipy old Stu Wolf ? Get to the clinic and ask for some Ph Ph pills for your delusion Herbert and take them other Herberts who agree with you.
With you lot of nasty vindictive old men gone, Wolves will be a much better club to support.
Dear sad pathetic little Sandwell Shadow Dweller – piss off and get ready to do your paper round tomorrow. This site is for grown ups.
Good to chat today mate and glad you have now come back on here. We all missed you buddy.
No idea what you said as it’s well past midnight and am pissed as a fart having just got in from my eldest son’s stag do in that London but Stuey welcome home me old mucker, we’ve missed you.
P.S. in your absence we all decided that you owe every member of the Wolves Blog at least one large drink in the next 6 months. Apparently there are 749 of us all gagging for a bevvy – oh and of course there’s London Wolves Loyal too so that’s well over a thousand pints you owe us.
P.P.S. Amanda Cape wants a Horlicks – in his dreams anyway
And looks like you were wrong. Sorry. But don’t worry, you were almost right. Robin Li was bidding for the team and his bid lost at the last minute due to some details that we are not aware of at this time, at least that is what I think.
Tim
You may well be correct but as the headline above stated “Good Riddance”
I think that Morgan has behaved badly in this, but that’s business I suppose, we shall never ever find out the truth behind it all because Morgan and somewhere in there Moxey was involved.
For me October cannot come quick enough, it’s my Birthday in more ways than one, I finally pick up my pension, I get half price season tickets (got it already) and the two single most problems at Molineux will finally be solved.
As a bonus, Daft Deliah may go for Moxey and he may jump ship quicker if the lure of the greenbacks are large enough.
There’s a great photo of Moxey at the game yesterday leaning over talking to one of our Non Execs, Jeff Sky’s body language says it all, it’s on the Wolves Official page and well worth a look. My missus and I were at Vale and we could see him clear as a bell, he’s clearly not impressed with the Pieman.
COYW’s
I’m 100% with Ben on this one, couldnt stand Morgan he only settled for us when his ‘beloved’ Liverpool said no to him. He was never really interested in the club other than as a money making exercise for his building company. I’ve always thanked God that the council owned he ground otherwise I’m sure he would have wanted to demolish Molineux and build on it.
Well thankfully he has finally slung his hook and the future is looking a lot brighter for Wolves – good riddance Morgan.
Molineux is the same Golden Palace, along with all the other Wolves infrastructure, that all we Wolves fans are extremely proud of,that blossomed under SMs ownership. It was Mr Morgans right as the business owner to make money and is no business of yours. W hat value did you add other than spiteful comments ?
Recent post in express and star,
Moxeys loss will be keenly felt at Molineux. Who writes this s..t,
does the pieman write his own editorials?
Regarding Morgan he built a new stand just to keep his firm busy.
He sold that firm for 350 million and then bought it back for 250 million a year later.
He built exec homes on wolves academy land and advertised them via the club! Why has no journalist shown any interest? What happened to transfer money, parachute payments, premier league money?
they can both f…off and die. Shame we couldn’t hang onto mcdonald. Not very excited by links to bruce and martinez. What dovothers think?
Think I’d be happy with Steve Bruce given his experience and track record in the Championship. Not an exciting managerial appointment but a solid one. And then appoint Allardyce when gets the chop from England! 😀
My issue with Mr Morgan. He has a personal wealth reported to be close to £850 million and yet never used any of it in an ambitious attempt to make the Wolves football team ‘great’ again. Missed opportunity given the wealth in the EPL. Interesting that Mr Li may well be involved in the takeover. Can’t wait for Monday!
So now Lopetegui says that Robin Li IS part of the new ownership and that he took the Spain job even though Li’s consortium won the bid. The timing of his announcement is suspect, though.
Somehow, I can’t help but think the translation is causing a problem but, if it is true, maybe there will be some money splashed about.
How about this Curbishley guy for manager?
I think he always intended to take the Spanish job.
He was told to wait by his agent, till after the takeover was complete.
In fact, his acceptance of the Spanish job, preceded by moments, the announcement of our deal.
I think they have it worked out already.
We will find out Monday who the new manager is.
The real problem with Mr Morgan was that he never had any real genuine feeling for our football club. From start to finish he was in it for what he could get out of it. Moxy fronted for him, and simply did his bidding. For either of them to now have the nerve to claim they acted always in the best interest of club is shameful. Whatever they may say, we know them for what they are. We are well rid.
Mike. youm either black country or yow aint
Press conference is at 12noon on Monday.
I wonder what he’s done with that nice Wolves scarf he had. Probably included it in the sale for an extra fiver.
From the first moment I saw him I just did not like “the cut of his jib”
We could have been in the prem now if he had stuck his hand in his very, very deep pockets.
Instead we had to suffer misery upon misery.
Good ridance
…or even good riddance………….
McCarthy delivered the riches of the PL to Morgan on a shoestring. Morgan did not have the balls to own a PL club. He was easily rich enough to keep us there and climbing the table season by season. Morgan bottled it big time. That was most evident with the botched sacking and replacement of McCarthy.
Finally a decent decision was made in hiring Jackett, but even then there was little or no support for the new head coach. It was scandalous that we didn’t kick on in the second season in the championship. It was practically perverse that we didn’t go all out for promotion last season. As I said, Morgan just doesn’t have the balls for the job. He finally bottled it for the last time in a car park at Preston.
Chairman Morgan Rum, brewed in Liverpool, rumbled in Wolveshampton, bottled in Preston.
Hey you stop spewing out your rubbish in this Wolves Blog.My husaband cannot stop laughing at your stupid comments.Mick McCarthy had everything he wanted at Molineux.yet you come out with comments that you must have heard in theb toilet. The fans wanted Mick out despite not being in the relegation zone and the fansb did,nt want Steve Bruce. You the Wolves mob got what you wanted so yes Stevie made some mistakes, in taking notice of idiots. Our noisy neighbours down the roads chairman, would,nt have listened to idioys in his stands. So misinformed DwithWolves get your facts right and stop spouting garbage.COYW http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2013/05/20/ex-director-blames-mick-mccarthy-for-wolves-woe/
Oh dear Amanda, your attached article just proves my point, that Morgan didn’t have the balls to run a PL club. Your attachment says that the whole board was “frightened” of McCarthy. Imagine, big Steve Morgan, the chairman, being frightened of thick Mick McCarthy? In fact I can see that I replied to that article saying that directors are actually paid to direct. That means not being frightened by employees. Yes, the WBA chairman Jeremy Peace, who I rate highly, would have done a much better job at Wolves than Steve Morgan. That’s why WBA have survived in the PL when we couldn’t. Steve Morgan may be a first class businessman but he shouldn’t be running a football club. He’s too irrational, too emotive and he rushes recklessly to judgement.
Well, I too am glad that Morgan and Moxey are (or will be in 3 months in Moxey’s case) gone. Best say no more, but things could have been.worse financially. The Clipboard and Saunders era were the worst for me.
I would like to. say that there is some justice as StuWolf has been proven right. As for Lopetigui, I can’t blame him for taking the Spain job, he is Spanish after all and he even has one international cap. I am not sure that we know the whole truth, but does that really matter now?
As for the likely new manager, If we get one, I hope it isn’t Steve Bruce myself. Nor does Curbishley float my boat. I imagine as my good mate StuWolf thinks, that someone is in the frame. It could be someone else who wants to work in England.
Hopefully we can now get beyond all the anger and hatred (both all too characteristic of modern football) and look forward to the cleansing of the club and some positive forward momentum. The feelings are understandable but blogging about positive options for the club is always much better and more insightful.
Welcome back Stu the Intel man…that was a close call..redemption then via no other than Mr Li..
If we have Li and Fosun together then God help anyone in our way and look out for the slip stream..
I posted a feature here this morning and had to run out of the door prob missed that news completely..
Monday is a day in history….
Port Vale match looked really exciting!
Perhaps we need a new owner!!
KJ ‘good news for me’ Fosun wants to settle things down..
Gulp ..gulp again..beads of sweat proper my end..
Doogooder get yr smile ready..
Bedford what are we going to do…..?
#wtf
Kenny as Clive says “is feeling confident about keeping his job”, E&S 30 minutes ago.
“Kenny to meet with the owners in person tomorrow,( Sunday) ” E&S 20 minutes ago.
Any guesses????
Dave Bedford last seen rushing up the M6 heading in the vicinity of said Hotel.
Sounds to me that Kenny has got an interview for the job!
Glad i didnt get carried away and go back to my season ticket. How does it go ? Judge us after 10 matches ?
Great summary Ben 100 per cent spot on.
What made everything worse was Morgan got lucky with promotion early in his tenure, and with the premiership riches at the time, its indefensible that funds weren’t invested sensibly so the club became a premiership fixture.
Moxey is also culpable as clearly mad Mick was past his sell by date and stayed one season to many, yet Moxey endorsed him staying on, and we all know what happened after then. When the going got tough Morgan went into hiding with his wallet, and the asset stripping of selling our best players began, with inexpensive and poor quality replacements arriving.
Good riddance and heaven help Norwich in three months time.
Seems like the old guard are desperately clinging on. New broom please.
Apparently messer’s Moron and Poxey are disappointed with some of the comments aimed at them since the takeover was leaked by the Beeb.
Disappointed? I haven’t even started yet!

HAVE YOU NOTHING BETTER TO DO OLD NASTY VILE MAN BED sorryWORTHLESS Wolf? Another season ahead using a Wolves Blog to help destroy the club . Where you can moan and whine and whinge and gripe and grumble and beef and attack and carp and snivel and nag and groan and accuse and bellyache and fret and denounce and find fault and protest and sound off. Stop your whimpering and you call yourself a Wolves fan. No wonder the club is is the mire with fans like you Herbert.. Any more ? yEAH PLENTY.
Good to see you back Stu and how is Lord Lucan
Found him cowering in the Albion trophy room, probably hiding in the one place no one would ever think of looking with the wretched nasty Amanda Cape above. Almost extinct.
If KJ remains in situ AND is given funds for players he basically has until November because the new high expectation will not tolerate any of the boring dross of last season. If he stays we get behind him and he has a 4 month window. But we will see what happens Sun/Mon.
What will you remember most about Steve Morgan’s reign?
How can I vote for one of the alternatives when they are all of equal merit demerit?
All I know was that he was never the right fit for the club and we’re well shot of him.
Ben has summed up perfectly Morgan’s reign and it stinks.
Oh, by the way, welcome back Stu. Don’t be a tart again.
There’s only room for a limited amount on this blog and the quota is full right now.
…And yes, I know, I am one of the biggest.
Great post Ben as usual, I think you said it all so eloquently and so precise.
I hope his houses fall down and gets sued to high heaven that horrible beetroot headed moron.
Onwards and upwards.UTW.
Well I succumbed and renewed the ST 2 weeks or so ago despite promising ‘er indoors to the contrary. 85 grounds over 5 or 6 decades and countless relegations/promotions/promises/bitter disappointments is enough to test the patience and goodwill of a saint – which I most certainly ain’t….and I was sucked in yet again.
Frankly I backed KJ even during the dross that was evident on the Savannah (our joke of a pitch) throughout most of last season but I was wrong. I have to admit that despite the constraints inflicted by tweedle tum and tweedle Dee (the best of good riddance to them both – God do I detest those wankers), almost everything he touched turned to dust – baffling team selections, even more baffling tic tacs, even even more baffling substitutions – or lack of – and even even even more baffling after match interviews. Traveling along the M6/M1 back home we listened in the car to WM until reception gave out and at times we looked at each other in disbelief. I generally sided with him as Bedford Wolves lads debated/ argued in the car but even I had to admit he was clueless in the end.
Yes Jackett has to go – the likes of Thelwell and Daley need to go well under the broom as well.
However reading the Express and Dingle web site it appears Jackett has half a chance of keeping his post.
If that turns out to be the case then I really will rue the day I parted company with £510 – and will rue the day even more so if ‘er indoors gets wind of it.
Yippee!!!!!
Well done mate!
Bedford Wolves am we!
Your nephew Dave (Notts County) said you would renew .
See you soon.
Still think Robin Li is not involved and Lopetegui is confusing the two bidders. He thinks Li’s bid won and not Fosun’s.
Just my hunch.
Agree Tim I think that’s obvious..
We have been well stitched up by M&M
Lopetegui was offered the Spain Job 3 weeks ago…
He was holding out for Wolves but less than an hour after the takeover announcement went to Spain.. The Timing was the Giveaway…
Still its done now and we have to look Forward…
Talk tonight by E&S of Jackett keeping his Job??
Good old M&M still F*****g thing up right to the end…
I must Admit I didn’t want Bruce last time but I didn’t want Jacket either…
Got to say at this moment in time got to give Bruce a go… He would be Alex Ferguson compared to Jackett…
Squad is knakered, shattered, disorientated, depleted, clueless – no worries there is a guy called Kenneth Jackett coming in to sort it out.
I think the difference between Bruce and KJ is that Bruce walks if he isn’t given funding and KJ lives with it and works with what he’s got.
I know he walked out on Millwall but he could see there was no end to it there. At Wolves there was hope for future investment.
Any way. I stumbled upon Tracey the psychic hedgehog this afternoon and discussed the Wolves managers job… ..
What’s the difference between Tracy and a car full of shit supporters?
Tracy has the pricks on the outside!!
I hope it Doesn’t and hope there is a plan but can see this Press conference on Monday turning into a comedy show.. Morgan and Moxey just keep giving in that department…
Wish there were some real fans there to ask the questions instead of official Wolves and Tim nice but Dim from the local rag…
Where is Mendes.. ? (was supposed to be helping to negotiate the deal)
Where are these players we were rumoured to be getting from Benfica and Monaco ??
Who the hell is Robin Li ??
Is there a big Pie party in the WV1 bar when Moxey goes to Norwich ??
Now that school is out for the summer, it would appear we have a new blogger, who has some interesting comments.
Welcome Amanda Cape.
We on this blog are above petty insults, back stabbing, schoolboy, or girl, name calling, and certainly bad spelling!!
I doubt if anyone will descend to the level of swamp dwelling bottom feeding shit supporters, and reply to your comments in kind.
Just be warned, we have a lot of very experienced, highly intelligent and skillful writers on this blog, who will verbally rip you a new one if antagonized sufficiently. By the way, I do not include myself in the above referenced bloggers, I am a dummy compared to some of them.
And to answer your question earlier, the last match I attended was in fact the last game any of us could attend, Sheffield Wednesday at home, when we won 2-1, I believe.
I do not fly over for pre season friendlies, so the next competitive match will be Rotherham away, the first game of the coming season.
If I have missed a game of any significance in between, please enlighten me.
The heading on this particular post is Good Riddance, so if you have nothing to say on the topic, please read it and disappear.
Y’all have a nice day now.

Clive …see my comments above ….
Exelent piece Ben.
Morgan and Moxey two of the biggest con artists to ever walk the earth. Lairs cheats and most of all THIEVES, and in not just talking money because the also stole years off us, hope and even threatened to turn us away from following our club.
I can remeber the Bhatti brothers time and Morgan and Moxey rannk along side them if not worse. Morgan and Moxey sucked the life soul out of club and the fans.
Them them crawl back under the rocks from where there came from………..SCUM the pair of them.
It has been hrs seeing Wolves slide into total mediocrity.
Say what you like about the Chinese, but they crave success and global recognition, so I am hopeful that we will see a marked change in strategy.
I’d be on the phone to Steve Bruce right now.
Hi Amanda,
Please fuck off.
Best regards,
Everyone.
Well hope the new owners realise they paid 35/45 mill and that the team they have taken on now needs 20/30 million within the next 2/3 weeks not 2/3 years they have mentioned to morgan. KJ mumbles on about team is short of defenders, wingers and forwards. These players to be any good need to be 5 mill apiece, but at least we have a shiny academy. Morgan raped the club of all quality over the last 2 years (Sako, Afobe even KMac etc) perhaps jez’s accounting tricks will come to light, but wait he is staying for 3 month’s to remove/destroy the evidence. Wonder how the Chinese stand on all team members being in a rigid wage structure ?
Great article Ben, spot on as usual. I could add some more stories re Morgan’s business practices given to me by guys in the construction industry but I wouldn’t want to be threatened with a concrete overcoat.
Also great to see Stuwolf back on, we knew you hadn’t been feeding us shit all along buddy.
Which hole in Sandwell did Amanda Cape crawl out of, unlike Clive I refuse to welcome such an obvious dweller of the darker side of that shit hole to the blog. If she thinks we are nasty old men to be mean to that nice Mr. Morgan she ain’t seen nothing yet. Do us a favour and F**K off back before we really get to attack you.
Morgan made millions out of this club and lined his own pockets at every opportunity, OK he built the academy at Compton, but the cost was a fraction of the profits he made from building the “executive houses” on the rest of the site.
I refuse to make any more comments on that fat bastard Moxey, Norwich are welcome to him.
As for KJ I hope to god that the new owners get rid of him today, he has the tactical nouse of a snail, he would ruin any half decent players the new owners manage to buy. My choice would be Steve Bruce, nice guy, and a very astute championship manager with a proven record. Despite our wants I am convinced that this season will be one o consolidation with a determined push next.
As always COYW
and a hearty FoWB and take Amanda with you.
Steve Morgan owned Wolves you did,nt Tipton exile. When Poundland was took over too recently and as a customer you did,nt own that. So in summing up TE none of your business what he spent or made.
It’s the business of every SUPPORTER of this club how much money Morgan removed from the club, but I suppose someone as obviously as illiterate as yourself would not understand that. The question of Poundland does not come into it and never would. I could not care what happens to a company like that but I and all the other genuine supporters on here care what happens to our beloved Wolves.
We have a saying in our family FIFO. Fit in or Fuck off.
I suggest you do the same and return to the dark side in Sandwell
Are you Morgan’s New Missus or Mrs Moxey? My money is on Mrs Moxey, Americans have always struggled with the English Language!
The thing is …firstly welcome back stu
Secondly … And this is only a guess mind . And it goes back to my days as a shop Steward .. In the case of a change of ownership or selling a company and change of ownership , we , as in Europeans are governed by the the transfer of undertakings protection of employment act ( tupe ) this gives ( with agreement from negotiations ) 90 days ( 3 months ) notice to any changes to our contracts that we previously had .
Me thinks both kenny and moxey are using that umbrella – kenny may get dumped and the economics being pay him the extra –
Hi LW
I thought TUPE regs was only for certain restricted occupations, such as cleaners, security staff etc
London..
The reason why KJ has got that gawky smile is that his bread is buttered on both sides (in my case def only 1 side ..)
He will get paid off because he’s been a model standing manager /coach and from my point of view he prob deserves to be paid off too..
Everybody should win here accept Morgan but with Compton and the development he wins also ..
Even Moxey I reckon has had a goodbye taste..
Anyway..Roll on 12.0 Monday.. history could well be made..
Apologies if being dum but why are E&S keep stating we were sold for 30 million?
KJ had probably the best squad in league one but he got 103 points and walked it.
I think he deserves to be given an opportunity with a top squad in the champ now. If it doesn’t work out changes can be made but right now we should back him.
Nobody could have done any more last season.
Wonder what’s going to happen to Thelwel?
I know we’ve got Jeff Sky as our link to the Golden Palace, but it would be nice tomorrow with it being so important to get
“The Thoughts of Chairman Guo”
1 more sleep and we will have an idea as to where this club is going.
Just an observation on yesterdays game.
Correct me if I’m wrong, Jen de Wolf and I have never ever in memory seen Tony Daley out on the touchline warming up and stretching the subs ( during the game).
Fighting for his job?
Jeff Shi even, they all look the same to me.
I was just thinking ..
if we were mercenary or if we were Steve Bruce or who ever ..how many players do we really need to take on promotion to the promised land..?
I’m up to 6 and then there is Qs regarding current existing injuries – do we cover the same player in this instance ..Zyro Dicko(?)Graham
and of course Williamson who I’m perplexed about..
I make that say 8-9…
Completely horrendous particularly as KMac has buggered off…
Bets to get promoted?4-1 ….6th favourite..
Afternoon Amanda. Here is a song for you. By Barry Manilow. WELL YOU CAME AND YOU GAVE WITHOUT TAKING. BUT I SENT YOU AWAY,OH MANDY. AND YOU KISSED ME AND STOPPED ME FROM SHAKING.AND I NEED YOU TODAY,OH MANDY……… Yours Sincerely,Wolves Bloggers.
None of your damn business is it Showcase, sorry what part of Wolves do you own, in your fantasy head.Would trust Steve Morgan and Jezz Moxey anyday over an old man, that spends his unemployed time always on a forum keyboard.Wolves Blog should ban you Mr Negative.
I think we should never mention Morgan again and when Moxey goes him neither.
Because there names don’t deserve to be mentioned for what they’ve put us through and done to this club it only gives them a voice, lets strangle that voice and never mention there names again let’s erase there time from our memory.
Someone has blogged it’s better to be positive and there right, a word that will never be attributed to those pair anothers would be, truth, ambition and honesty…….the more we talk about them espeailly now the takerover is complete is to give them credibility…….fuck em.
On the mangers job Kennys blown it, I don’t see the point in giving him any more time or funds because when it doesn’t work out we will end up with players his replacement probably wouldn’t want and less funds for him to work with.
I hope the new owners think big I go for De Boer, the Dutch are technical masters look at Southampton were they are now and I now that there manger left for Everton but you watch what he does for them.
Keeping Jackett in my option would send out totally the wrong message to me it would say, we haven’t the balls to think big so will see what Kenny can do then well get someone in at Christmas if its not working out. That just delaying the inevitable.
WABK sounds good to me lets ‘give’ Kenny a replacement squad of 16 top players and see what happens. If that doesnt work we can get rid of them too. (If you are going anywhere near planet earth can you give me a lift back).
Excellent post Ben. Good riddance sums it up perfectly.
The only constant att a football club are the fans.
I lived thru the Misery of the Bhatti Bros and we almost became a car park like Walsalls Fellows Park. Where you can now literally park a bus in front of the goal and buy frozen veg in the opposite penalty area.
We are not near that at the moment.
Good riddance to Jiz and Stiffie. History will put them in a foot note “the treading water years”. It is Mick McCarthy holding the championship trophy not them. They won’t even get a name check in the museum.
Treat them with the contempt they gave us. Ignore them; never mention their names again; they are irrelevant!
jim. like you I remember the mid 80’s. I went to southend, scarboro, torquay. all the infamous wolves tours. in my opinion it was some of the best days ever. being a football fan is about identity with your town. your club. Wolverhampton. so as we move on we should never forget. FWAW . Welcome Fosun.
Cheeseburger of Death indeed.is your real name Ronald MacDonald you old clown.
Good morning,
There is an interesting report in the Sports Mole this morning, my time, that Marco Silva is the favourit to replace Kenny Jacket. Seems that Mendes is promoting the guy.
Costa Rica
This was on Twitter over the last 8 hours or so I believe.
I think it came from the Olympiacos site.
Former #OlympiacosFC coach, Marco Silva was indeed approached by #Wolves , but rejected instantly the prospect of taking over the squad.
Telford .. It’s employment law for all
Amanda .. Fancy a date .? . Always had a thing about foul mouthed Albion slags
Careful London you might catch something really unpleasant
London Wolves and Wpolves Blog gang member/When do you ever go to Wolves buffoon ? Let me know my husband would like to meet you old man ? We have great seats in the Billy Wright so not a problem, as there is pensioner access for you to meet on matchday, thanks to Stevie.
Thats it pat yourselves on the back and celebrate, like the no different clone supporters did with billionaires arriving at Cardiff, Forest,Fulham and QPR .Premier League indeed.
Amanda sweetheart.
Obviously a very troubled child, limited vocabulary, atrocious spelling and non existent intelligence.
But, like all good sites we welcome everyone to comment on the blog.
So to make you feel at home and in recognition of your posts, I am sending you a University of North Texas as a keepsake. When we look at it, we shall think fondly of you.
X
StuWolf a leg end on his own page commandeered from Wolves Blog. A deluded wordsmith who has failed everywhere else in getting his back slapped by other like minded gang members.
Getting away from AC for a tad,can we have a serious debate about who will be managing our club come the start of ,I hope a very exciting season.
Surely Hackett can’t be in the frame .?????????????.
It must be time to remove this shit from the blog Thomas ..we have real stuff to write about tomorrow ….
If they were going to announce a new manager tomorrow something would have probably leaked out somewhere. If they were going to sack KJ they would have probably done it today. Could well be carry on Kenny.
Hi Amanda.I’m purchasing my Season Ticket this week.Did you say You sit in the Billy Wright?
Just ignore Amanda There’s enough Wolves-led vitriol about our own situation without wasting time on her rants. (PS…….the ref to Stu makes me wonder if this is another Brompton wind-up….!!??)
Anyway……reference to Marco Silva being linked to Mendes highlights all I’m worried about in the links to Mendes. Quite apart form the obvious attractions of WV1 over Athens, what would he or we gain by his appointment? Surely he knows diddly about the Championship.
I can’t help feeling that the walkout by Bruce is rather more than a coincidence.
Bruce to get us up then thanks Steve and get top manager in someone with charisma someone who is known to players around the world not just Millwall, Peterbough, Chesterfield, Swindon.
Nice one Rachael Wolf….
Rachael.. Rachael….
Karaoke in pub. Just done No More Heroes. Stranglers. Happy days. 1978.cor believe it.any old punks about tonite ?
As much as I would condemn the ravings of the ‘so-called’ Amanda Cape, I feel the response in kind of several of our more regular bloggers simply exacerbates the problem. You really should know better than to rise to the bait. I can find this crap all over the interweb. I don’t expect to find it here.
Oh, and roll on tomoz, when, hopefully, some of our questions will be answered.
Hear hear!
Or Here here!
I never know which it is.
But you’re right. We should be above that sort of response.
Spot on, Wolfstroker, let that be an end to him/her.
Childish and petty insults = boring.
Roll on tomorrow, 12noon!
Does anyone know if the press confetence will be broadcast or reported live?
Will the blog have anyone there to give us a fan’s rezponse?
Is there anyyone I should be following on Twitter?
Dann! Thus time every year I tell myself not get excited and once again it’s taking up all my emotional energy. Will I ever grow up?
Bloody hope not!!!!
Not reported live but follow Spiers on Twitter.Have saved a pile of ironing so will follow whilst doing it. https://twitter.com/hashtag/wwfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
Thanks – got it!
Harry, the express and star are tweeting live from the press conference
ALRIGHT, YOU’VE GOT JUST UNDER TWO HOURS TO VOTE.
JACKETT – MARTINEZ – BRUCE – A. N. OTHER
Who’s it going to be?
Bruce for me KJ is useless as we know Martinez is another Jackett in my opinion
I’d get rid of Jackett and go all out to get Steve Bruce. His record in the Championship is superb.
Marco Silva please, reports say he’s already refused us but go back in with an improved offer.
Was a Bruce fan because of the co-incidental timing of his resignation but seeing these headlines again this morning and the continued Portuguese link,it looks like Silva. He has a 56.9% game win ratio from a 216 games as a manager. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/wolves-linked-ex-olympiakos-boss-11658721
A.N. Other for me
Hodgson is a good bet, he’s looking for work.
And theres that young Spanish bloke, Del Bosques or however you spell his name.
It dont matter who is appointed or whether we keep Jackett,
WE GOT TO GET RIGHT BEHIND HIM, COZ THE SEASON IS UPON US!!!
KJ announces his squad for tomorrow? Doesn’t look like he’s going.
I wonder if today’s press conference will just be a “Hello” and a statement of intent?
De-Beor, if not Bruce…………good game………..good game……lets hope if it is Bruce we go higher not lower.
Ok enough Play Your Cards Right jokes ………..if it is Bruce …Nice to see ya…..to see you Nice…!
Couldn’t resist that last one………sorry.
27 minutes to go…………
Very good look to the knew wolves manager.
Amy age 7 looking forward to Swansea game with my Daddy.
Oh my God I’m back to arguing with DG about KJ..he staying ffs..
So we keep the Hamster
At least there will be some interest after Christmas, as we begin the relegation fight.
Jeff Shi says “we need 5 to 8 new players”…I like this man already………
🙂
Underwhelmed so far.
5-8 players sounds promising.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkYbAc7ZZMY&feature=youtu.be
5-8 players with 2 weeks to the start of the season, methinks prices will start to rise.
There is a good midfielder that has just joined Fulham!!
Like much of what he’s said so far – squad is most important, 5-8 players, logo, name, colours unique. Seems to want to build sensibly. Like the Doog, I’ve said KJ should be given a chance – not as exciting as a change might have been, but now we’ll have that hand called! Need to give all support to the club, unless/until the pace is too slow or wrong.
Not too happy with kj but in defence of the new guys , they missed out on their first choice so with time against its understandable, let’s just hope he doesn’t spit his dummy out if any new guys question his tictacs , I think we will have a new coach in well before Xmas though. Utw
Moxey: “After 16 years it’s time to go out on a high” . . . . . . ????
Just looking up ‘high’ in the dictionary. As I thought, it doesn’t equate to mid-table Championship.
Thank God that, in Jeff Shi, we have someone at the top at Wolves who understands English.
Don’t kill me for my opinion but I’m happy to keep Jackett and give him a go with a decent budget. He has been managing us for a couple of years one handed, with his best players being sold beneath him. He’s never had a proper chance to challenge in the championship. We were a few players short in the 2014/15 season to make the play offs, even though we had a potent attack. Then last season injuries and sold players forced Jackett to defend our position in the league and keep us up, that was the best we could achieve with that squad. Our current squad has relegation written all over it.
In league one he pulled a master stoke when we were looking good top of the table in December, he sold off Leigh Griffiths our top scorer and replaced him with Dicko, got Sako firing and brought some young talent through and romped the league. Most previous Wolves managers would been happy with the squad if we were top at xmas and not changed anything then we probably have petered out and blown it at the end.
Jackett is also not bad at identifying good players. I know someone who is a family friend of the Thelwells and I’ve been told Jackett convinced Thelwell and Moxey to buy Harry Kane from spurs in the summer of 2014 (we had a deal agreed with spurs, as he wasn’t in the first team then and he wanted to leave before Pochetino became manager), but pochentino told Kane he was part of his plans and decided to stay. Lets face it, I know it was an easier league but the football we played in League 1 was decent, if Jackett can tell Shi what types of players he needs to get out of this league, then give him a shot. Jackett is gonna know what’s missing more than Bruce or Martinez. May as well give him until xmas? A new manager coming in right now isnt gonna be able to assess the current squad and determine what transfers are needed in the next 6 weeks. Jackett will already know what he needs.
Its only my opinion though.
Agree 100% Oliver
Agree 100% Oliver. And Sevlow.
Not only your opinion mate.
If he fails to produce the goods with decent backing from the new owners then I will personally eat humble pie (not Mrs Moxey’s), apologise to Steve Showcase and accept that he’s useless (Kenny, not Steve).
But he deserves the chance to manage with both hands free (Kenny, not Steve).
Have to say I’m fine with KJ staying and happy that he’s finally getting a shot at the Championship with real financial backing. Seems to be real money behind our promotion push although time is a little short.
My old Dad used to say: If something seems too good to be true, it generally is.
You know, I feel his rule is about to be severely tested.
Well hat surprised me a bit I must say, as I really thought that Kenny would be leaving. This will now be interesting. He did okay for us when he had good players, but when they were sold he started to become frustrating. If we get in 5 to 8 new players that will test him to see how he plays them. I believe that if he does not hit the ground running we could be in for a testing time. I still hang on to my view though that this first season of takeover will see us re-establishing ourselves and the proper fight for premiership status will occur next season once all holes are filled.
I believe.
Ok ..
could be worse, could be better..2 best bits 1.we are buying 5-8 players and we have more than £30M..
2.mendes is buying and he don’t buy shit.
Worse bit JKT stays
so I just hope and prey we have a new Captain to manage the team for him ie carry him like KMac did in the first division..
Moxey there till Nov ..
Are we going to have a good Xmas?
Dear loyal fans, the revolution did succeed after all. probably not down to us but more to do do with Morgan being finished with manipulating Wolverhampton council and realising it’s time to find some other mugs to fill his pockets. As for moxey …… well, my contempt for that individual could only be counted in light years.
Let’s face facts, all this praise for those two parasites is simply sickening. They raped and pillaged our club and city, but vikings they were not, just two faced money grabbing liars.
Morgans sole intention was to make money from this deal no matter how long it took or how much shit he had to swallow .
Morgan will never be seen in the city again and moxey will dissappear to Norwich to weave his Web and put them up for sale in a few years time …. beware canary fans you are about to be stuffed.
I doubt Delia will let his missus have the catering though.
Their legacy ? Simple… a book on how not to run a football club OR how to buy a football club make a fortune and fuck off sharpish.
We have won in a way.I wish it was down to us but let’s not be naive this is a far bigger game than a few thousand protesting blogs.
Fosun are about to send the wolves into outer space,it may be a stutter at first as their immediate plans have taken a slight backward step but do not have any doubt these people intend to re-create history by taking the one time greatest club on the planet back to the top.
We will not recognise our club in a few years time ,we will be doing a man City , have no doubt.
Kids make your scrap books and keep everything you can get because we are ready for take off and you will want to remember the whole thing in years to come …
At last we can rest a while …
who’s gonna pick the feckin’ team then? The bollockly-challenged Kenny? Arch-drongo Kevin “ten wingers’ Thelwell, or this mendes bloke? Lets hope their role-descriptions are sorted soon.
