It was pleasing to hear Kenny Jackett say he’d be fielding the strongest team possible against Fulham tomorrow.

After all, if we’re not going to at least try and win the FA Cup, what else is there to look forward to?
Bobbing up and down the divisions is a swell ride don’t get me wrong, but it’s not the same as major silverware.
In recent times we’ve seen the likes of Sheffield United, Wigan, Millwall and Bradford all progress into the latter stages of cup competitions, while Wolves have consistently bombed out in the early rounds.
I’ve never been to Wembley because I vowed not to go to a match at the national stadium until Wolves were involved. As time goes on, this is becoming a more irksome promise to keep.
Fulham
This was a miserable tie to get, but I’d rather be playing Fulham with a chance of progressing than the likes of a Chelsea or Arsenal, where defeat is almost inevitable.
We’ve won at Craven Cottage already this season, but the Cottagers were struggling to get the engine started back then. Now they’ve got a new manager and are up towards midtable.
Kit Symons quickly built up some good momentum after taking over but his side have lost their last two in the league against Bournemouth and Brighton. Their home record reads won 5, lost 5, drawn 2.
They’re not short of individual quality and the likes of Scott Parker, Hugo Rodallega and Ross McCormack have all hurt Wolves in the past.
Wolves
Kortney Hause is cup-tied and Kevin McDonald suspended, so it will be interesting to see which players come into the side to fill the gaps. I suspect the team will look something like this:

With Sako off to AFCON and Tommy Rowe ruled out for several months by injury, doors could open up for the likes of George Saville and Michael Jacobs. Both have more to offer than they’ve shown so far this season.
The gaffer
Predictions
With our best side out, we’ve got a good chance of progressing but I don’t think there’s a lot to choose between the two sides.
It’s practically impossible to say with any degree of certainty how any game against fellow Championship opposition might go, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this went to a replay.
2-2
Up The Wolves!

I think Fulham might also be going for a strong side and with a week before the next game who can blame them really?
I don’t have much confidence in Wolves cup games though sadly – 2-1 win to Fulham
not sure I believe that we will play our strongest team wouldn’t surprise me if we had 5 or 6 changes so I am going for our usual cup defeat 2 0 to Fulham.
No prediction from me but I certainly won’t be picking them to lose unlike some “so” called fans.
I look for us to win every match, I know that’s improbable, but never pick them to lose.
Win to the mighty WWFC and then draw The S**T in round 4 and beat them 27-0 at the Mol…..yep I believe i have gone bonkers but I doe care. Summat to do with a lager overdose over xmas. Cheer up it’s only 357 days till Christmas… wolves aye we !!!!
As much as I would value a nice little cup run, I still feel that K Mac’s suspension couldn’t come at a better time. The league still has priority I’m afraid, especially as we’re within striking distance of the play-offs. Sako to play before he takes his leave and our heroes to go through after a replay. 2-2.
If Evans and/or Saville feature then that might not be a disaster as they’ve both had their moments this season, even if only fleetingly. Evans especially was impressive at Craven Cottage back at the start of the season. It would be great to have a cup run, so I’ll be positive. 1-0 to Wolves.
Good team Thomas .. with Doherty given some match time and putting a bit of pressure on Iorfa and Hause.
I would really welcome a good cup run and have had the honour of seeing Wolves At Wembley 3 times. ( Notts Forest, Man City and Burnley, … not having lost either!!! )
I truly think we’ll get past Fulham but only after a replay .. Fulham 1 v 1 Wolves.
Next round will be Villa at home.
Quite right Twixfix, I was mat those Webley finals too, it is possible.
Cheers Jerry ,, I’m looking forward to my 4th visit this year with WWFC !!
2-1 For me, Always thought a good cup run does no harm ,it only breeds confidence, bar injuries.
Lets see what happens.UTW.
Can’t see beyond a 1-1 draw and a victory at the Molineux.
Thomas,
2000 of us going down tomorrow, expecting the guys tobe in good voice and well up for it. If we get behind the team we can get an extra 100 metres out of them. Hoping he plays a strong team on the back of the support we’re giving them, Doherty in for Hause and RVLP instead of Henry for me please.
Fulham 0
Wolves 2
Come on me Babbies
🙂
Stu,
Please sing along for me. I read somewhere that Van the Man may be injured, so Thomas’ team would be my choice uf that”s true.
Wins breed confidence. Kenny would love some silverware to his name too. 1-0 to wolves.
Back from freezing Fredericksburg, sober now, and still loffin’ at Chelsea’s result from White Fart Lane.
Its been too friggin’ long since we went to Wembley, so this year is it.
Fulham 0
Wufflers 4
Actually, the score is an elephant, just so long as we get more than them, progress to the next round, and loff at the shit as they lose to mighty Gateshead.
FOwb and Pulis
4-0?
What happened to your normal prediction, or is that saved for league games only?
Hope you had a good Xmas mate.
Are you queuezing me of being predictable in my predictions??!!
Perish the thort!!
FOwb
Me? Questioning you? No Sir, not me Sir!!!
2000 fans and a full strength team should be enough to see Fulham off at the first time of asking.
I predict a convincing win to ring in the new year.
My new year’s resolution is to be a better predictor.
Let’s hope I haven’t already broken it.
3-1 to our brave boys.
It’s about time we actually entered the FA Cup and played to win.
Some great memories, like Sheff Wed away – penalty shoot out. Don Goodman winner at Leeds.
I’m not holding my breath for tomorrow. Hope we win – I’ve got one bottle of Holdens Old Ale to sip and enjoy to celebrate 🙂
Fulham 0 Wolves 1
Would love a cup run but can’t see us winning twice at the Cottage in one season
Fulham 2-0 Wolves
I would love to see a good cup run for a change, it could only breed confidence for the league. Would like to Jacobs get a game but can’t really argue with Thomas’s choice either.
Wolves to win through after a replay.
Fulham 2 Wolves 2 at the cottage.
Come on let’s give it a good go this year! I’d rather get to the cup final than promotion, the PL is full of s***. Wwfc to edge it 2-1.
A good cup run would be a great plot to run alongside the path to the play-offs. Why not start here, Fulham 0 Wolves 3 (Sako, Price & Edwards)
Fulham 1 – 2 Wolves
A good chance for the reserves to shine
I can’t believe I’m missing this being down my way …quite pissed off..
Anyway I smell a win here or at least we are capable of it particularly if the back plays well..
So more carnage from Sako before he gets injured in the last 5 mins and can’t go to the African Nations (!)..
Seriously,he can run rings round this lot and Dicko will be waiting..
With K Mac out it will be interesting to see how much we miss him…
2-1 to Wolves 2-0 at half time ..
Pleased re Danny Graham ..was an ‘almost’ and not in Dicko’s league..
Chris Woods ..? We shall see..
COYW
We don’t really do cup runs, do we ? – at least not in the last decade.
1-1 down there and we’ll go out in the replay.
My dream was always to see a FA cup final , four semi final defeats and I guess now it will never happen. Still I’m off to london tomorrow more in hope but the best I see is a 1-1 draw.
2-1 Wolves. Sako going to part with his best game of the year *season* with a brace
Looking forward to making the trip across London with my lad for the match. Eight Bells at Putney Bridge for a quick beer then off to Craven Cottage to see the Wolves win 2-1 and start the journey that ends with a famous FA Cup win at Wembley on May 30th (yes it’s that late this season!!) against Tottenham, just so I can get rid of that monkey from 81! Come on the old gold & black!
It’s about time we had some sort of a cup run.
Wolves to win 1-0
In my opinion winning the FA cup would be even better than promotion but would love both to happen of course.
Wolves 2 – 0
Like a lot of people I think we will be happy to get Fulham back to the MOl. So a draw for me on this one – possibly 1-1. But not unduly worried if we don’t make the next round. Unless we get to the final we might as well go out early and save the players from possible injuries.
About time we won a cup thriller
Fulham 2 Wolves 3
I don’t know how you could watch that video of Kenny Jackett and possibly think anything other than happy thoughts about The Wolves and our future. We’ve got a great young squad, and with a few quality additions in Jan I reckon we are well placed to kick on next year and go for promotion.
Speaking of which, I really hope we get Woods. I bought him on Football Manger and he scored loads of goals and we got into Europe, so he must be good!
I happen to have made the same promise as our esteemed friend Thomas regarding Wembley, and would absolutely love it if this year’s Cup got that particular monkey off my back, but I think next year’s Play Offs are a more likely route to redemption.
That said, I always love beating Fulham due to my Fulham supporting Ex’s dad’s sneering response to our promotion in 2009, and they should never have got rid of that statue of Micheal Jackson, so I’m going for a Wolves win.
I fancy Sako to sign off with yet another memorable one for the collection, and us to finish 3-1 to the good. Presume this doesn’t count for the prediction league, but if Dicko and Batth get the other 2 I hope I’m considered for some bonus points.
Clive saying the score is an elephant reminds me of the time my mate bought me an elephant for my room. I tried to thank him, but he said not to mention it.
Lengthy late night ramble over.
UTW
Fulham 0 wolves 1
2-1 to the Wolves it would good to keep the momentum going of our recent form, it will be interesting to see how we get on without Big Mac. Evans is capable so this could be a big chance for him to stake a claim.
UTW
I have always wanted us to pick our best team for cup matches, especially FA Cup matches. I love cup runs so let’s at least try to have one.
I’m interested to see how we do without McDonald. Last season it would have been a big loss definitely, it may be today, but it’s an oppurtunity to see how the young guns do without him.
A very hectic Christmas for me meant I only got to the predictor for the Brentford game 5 minutes before ko. . And was too late to record my 2-1! I’ll take that every time if we win! But when is the cut off time for predictions? Think we’re due a nice little cup run but a tricky tie today I’m going for 1-1 before a resounding replay win at the Mol
Just a thought for Kenny’s mini dilemma of losing MacDonald for todays game, why not give Conor Hunte a run alongside Jack Price, let’s see if he can make his mark like Hause & Iorfa.
🙂
It seems a long time ago that I went to Wembley for the Blackburn game ….. come to think of it it was a long time ago – 1960 in fact. It’s about time we had a cup run, why not this year?
Fulham 1 Wolves 3
Don’t rate our recent cup record so based solely on that Fulham 3 Wolves 1
Happy New Year to all fellow Bloggers.
Hoping for a decent cup run here & see no reason why we can’t hold our own. I’ll go with the old faithful prediction of Fulham 1 – 2 Wolves
UTW
I was at our game at Craven Cottage a few months ago. I’m going for another 0-2 win. I was also there when we lost 5-0 under Terry Connor. Miserable day, especially after Terry’s reign had started with such false promise by a 2-2 draw at Newcastle. That all seems ancient history now thankfully. It’s about time we had a bit of a cup run, isn’t it?
My first time at the Cottage, so why not a win. Enjoying a day out in London, and this may be the closest we`ll get to Wembley for a while. Thomas – you should lighten up about not going to Wembley unless the wolves got there. I saw Chesterfield beat Swindon a couple of years ago in a Johnstons Paints final, and I was impressed with the new stadium and facilities. Start saving a few bob for when you do go though, the food and drink are very expensive, but great seats and atmosphere – maybe the playoff final this year?????? Oh and 2-0 today for me!
“The strongest team possible” leaves a lot of room for changes, but KJ has form in the cup with Millwall and has seen what an effect that can have. Wouldn’t be a surprise if Kuczak was given a game. Hopefully we’re about to change our woeful cup record, so with strong support I think we might just edge it. 2-1 to the Wanderers.
Fulham away has generally been a daunting trip and I wasn’t overly pleased when this draw came through. I’ll take a draw – and hopefully finishing them off at home. I’m going for 1-1.
Wolves to win it and then off to meet Clive for drinks at his local … will be a great day!
Fulham 0 – Wolves 1
GoWolves
Give him a clip round the ear from BromptonWolves, he owes him one from Leeds away. He will understand.
🙂
Thanks Stu. Hope you travel home smiling mate.
It`s Brompton Wolf though!!!
It’s Wolves through & through.
Happy days, strange game but we fight another day.
🙂
Take some money with … Clives got 15 inch deep pockets and only 9 inch arm length .. in fact tye last time he got his wallet out there was a Threepenny bit in it !!
Since I stopped predicting on this web site Wolves have either won or drawn — so no prediction from me!!!!!
Why has the results tab been dropped from the input form?
presumably because it’s a cup tie and the Prediction League boxes only come into play when it’s a League Game … hope that clears that up a little ..
We’ve had a woeful record in the cups over the past decade and I’m not convinced it’s going to improve this year. Replay for me, no doubt followed by a defeat on penalties in front of 5,000 fans. 1-1
It certainly would be nice to have a good cup run. Fulham 0 Wolves 2
I think we will lose – partly cos, when I pick them to win we don’t, and partly cos its the FA Cup and it’s a long, long time since we did any good in the cup. Very much looking forward to them proving me wrong.
2-1 to the Wolves. It would be great to have a cup run for a change, and bearing in mind that this season would probably be too soon to get back into the premier league, it would be a good time to have some cup excitement. Come on me babbies!
Of course we will win, 2-0. The 2 Malian marvels with one goal each.
Just seen the line up – what does Jacobs have to do to get a start?
Wolves to win 1-2.
Oh no -5 minutes to kickoff but missed the prediction deadline! 2-1 to the Wolves.
Wiziwig is no longer available, and P2P.eu is not streaming either. Guess I am now resorted to watching Gateshead beat the Sh1t on http://www.vipleague.i. Hopefully we will be able to use that link for future games we can not get to. I do not believe wiziwig will return anytime soon.
Just got back from the game. We played solidly and probably deserved to shade it but both teams lacked that bit of quality in the final third. Is it me or is KJ starting to gently apply a little bit of pressure on moxey and Morgan with his consistent comments in recent interviews about window being open, looking to strengthen, squad much smaller than when he took over etc.? If so, good for him! Remember ” we”re all in this together” Jez and Steve . MY ARSE !
Trying to get dj to play liquidator in boozer. Instead got rick fuckin astley. What a fuckin let down. FWAW.
I really think time is up for Leon Clarke. Shocking miss. All he had to do was get it on target. I’ve heard he was taken by surprise when Sako’s shot came back off the post but shouldn’t a pro centre forward be alert to those scenarios? Of course the answer is YES.
Censorship a little too restrictive on Wolves Wall?
(See screenshot).
…when you can’t even post your own players name on your own fan site, without him being made into an anonymous figure, that’s when you realise how screwed up of a country this is regards to our so called free speech.
At least on this site you can say what the f@#k you f@#king like without it being #%^*+~@”?# hidden. 🙂
I have come back from Fulham with mixed emotions, I was’nt going to come on the blog due to the type of game it was leaving me elated and empty at the same time, makes sense to me but must read like Sx@?%’
But reading the comments has stirred me up again, so onwards and upwards .
Sutton Coldfield Wolf…..
He has summed it up pretty much as I saw it, we outplayed them and it seemed like throughout the match we were the home team, apart from the big lanky forward who made two amazing overhead sissor kicks, but unfortunately nearly took the London Eye out with them, there was bunger all for Fulham fans to sing about. On the way home the official Fulham site said there were 11875 at the game and it stated that there were 3000 Wolves fans in the ground, so well done the loyal fanbase yet again.
Incognito……
Leon Lazytown, yes he was taken by surprise by Sakos rebound off the post, he never thought he could get into their area so easily.
Doo do do too doo doo Feckin useless.
Doo do do too doo doo Feckin useless.
Even Clive of feezing cold Fredricksberg could had scored, well, he did say he was pretty useful in his day.
Shrews Wolf……
Every match 1 hour before kick off we get the team selection. £@#%o’s name is edited out every time he is selected. PC gone mad it would never Feckin happen on here, (well, not as long as Clive draws breath anyway) God Bless Him! The last bation of common sense.
Come on Kenny we need someone who can put as many goals away as £&@#o, comes to something when you have to play him with a bad back. Yes and IMO only I think Conor Hunte is better than Evans ( he gave the ball away too many times again yesterday) he needs to go out on loan to build his confidence up again.
But the signs are there again, we played solid at the back and held possession in the middle, just that final third again. Sort it out Kenny and we will be off on a run again.
Final word….
All through the second half, the Wolves fans were dancing and singing Dominic Iofras name, the lad is a breath of fresh air of Danny Bhatt proportions.
COMB
🙂
Only issue with C.Hunte on the team sheet could be be an even more overzealous censorship forum!
At that rate we could have a team of anonymous players… (Just like the Sh1t!)
His name is Conor, not Issac.
Ooops straight red
:-((((
yeah …. defo a red, but I’d take that for the team. Brilliant response and dead funny too. Bet he’s chuffed to be called Connor not Isaac or Mike.
