I was at Craven Cottage back in April to see Wolves grind out a hard-earned point against Fulham; crawling ever closer to safety in the process.
In truth, it was a dour affair with very few openings created by either side. But the away end couldn’t have cared less as they basked in the sunshine and cheered their heroes off the field at full-time, recognising the importance of the result in the context of our season.

Fast-forward five months and I wonder whether such an outcome would be greeted with the same gusto?
I suspect not.
A second consecutive nil nil at Craven Cottage would be no mean feat considering their outstanding home form over the last year, but expectations are that much higher right now and with more attacking menace at our disposal, many will feel Wolves have enough in their locker to once more taste victory in our nation’s capital.
Fulham have drawn their three fixtures so far, picking up respectable points against Bolton, Blackpool and Manchester United. Make your own conclusions from those results.
But given that their only other home fixture was that impressive display in the 2-2 against United, it’s clear Mark Hughes’ team continue to be a formidable outfit on their own stomping ground.
So this one, for me at least, is a tough one to call.
I expect Wolves to name the same side that locked horns (literally) with Newcastle two weeks back. So that’s a starting XI of:
Hahnemann
Foley
Berra
Craddock
Ward
van Damme
Henry
Jones
Jarvis
Doyle
SEB
We’ve been boosted by the news that record-signing Steven Fletcher should be available for selection. And with the likes of Mancienne, Zubar, Guedioura and the fit-again Mouyokolo likely to provide further competition for places, Mick McCarthy has decent options all over the pitch. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him make one or two changes.
Prediction League
Well done to er, nobody for getting the result right against Newcastle. Unbelievably, not a single person said we’d draw 1-1.
However, congratulations to New kid on the blog, who picked up the point he needed to take top spot in the overall table. These are the days and Chris P also bagged a point each by correctly guessing the outcome, if not the exact score.
Don’t forget, if you want to join in with the Prediction League, simply leave your prediction for each game in the comment section of the official preview (such as this one).
This week, I’m going for a 1-1 draw.
If you’re making the trip down to Craven Cottage, have a great time and get right behind the lads.
Up The Wolves.

My negativity returns after predicting a win against Newcastle.
Fulham 1-0 Wolves.
If he doesnt play Guedioura, Mancienne and Zoobs from the start, instead of Ward, Berra and Foley, he needs stuffing.
He must have seen the internationals, both under 21 and full.
Anyway, we will win 2 – 0, no worries. Ward to score both!!!!!
FOWB
Clever plan of yours Thomas, copying my prediction even before i’ve posted it. Fulham are excellent at home and we are hard to beat. Equates to a draw for me 1-1. And yeah, your’e right too Clive, Ward to score both.
2-0 fulham
I really fancy them this season.
that’s 2-0 in favour of fulham, just making sure 😉
With all this positive thinking, and backing, it’s a wonder we’ve got any fans at all!!!
Let’s get behind the lads, time enuff for doom and gloom when we play the supposedly top 4.
Bring ’em all on, we ain’t skeered!!
FOWB
Fulham 0-1 Wolves (doyle)
I’m copying Exeter here. 1-0 to Wolves.
Oh, I forgot, my prediction is Spurms to score 9, ……..in the first half
Ha! Ha! Ha!
FOWB
0-0. A point is a good result, but I think we could sneak a win. They are under a new manager and should still be getting used to his style.
Hopefully SEB can keep his good form going and Doyle will be back to his best. Who is the Fulham left back now, is it Salcido? If so, he’s very attacking and Jarvis will have plenty of space on the right.
I’ll go for Fulham 3 Wolves 0 , just don’t like the look of this at all. Not even on Foxtel tomorrow night either, so, looks like foraging for poor internet streams
Going for a 0-0 draw, which would be a pretty good result in my eyes
3-1 Doyle, sylvan and van damme. The result will guarantee a 2nd last appearance on match of the day for the 1st time this season. The panel will lament a thuggish, one dimensional performance which will win few friends. Albion meanwhile, will be praised for their enterprising approach in a 3-1 defeat to spurs. Their fans will also win a special award despite howls of boos that the extended highlights failed to pick up.
Too right Ben. I have given up on match of the day – cant be arsed staying up until 11.55pm to see 30 seconds of Wolves.
Football first is worth the forty quid a month I pay Sky on its own!
PS I’m glad that Bully had Lineker by the scruff of his neck too – slime ball!
I’m going for 2-2.
1-1. Lawro’s gone for a Fulham win so Kwolf, Hallam and Daz are stuffed.
2-2 with doyle and craddock to score
screams of a 0-0 to me!
It’s a toughie….. I’m going for a Desmond 2 – 2. Jarvis and SEB. Any news on Fletch?
Fulham 1 Wolves 2 (Doyler getting both)
With Jon – 1-2. But reckon that Craddock and SEB will take centre stage.
I’m off to the game tomorrow so we will probably lose sorry guys, but I did see our first away win of the season last season at wigan so hopefully we’ll get the same outcome again tomorrow.
Having said that i’m still sticking with my 0-0 predictions.
Thomas – can I also post my sisters prediction of 1-1 for the game. Her name is Ezz. She’s on holiday at the moment and text me the other night cus she didn’t want to miss out on a week in the prediction league. Thats dedication for you mate
I’m off to the game as well, might see you there.
1-1 for me, still hoping Mick starts Guediora.
No problem Chris, you’re a good brother. 🙂
I’ll go for 1.1 with Doyle getting the goal.
Totally agree with earlier comments that Guediora and Zubar should be in the starting lineup. (Foley and SEB out for 4-5-1 in this tough away game for me!)
Come on Jarvis and Craddock – get your shooting boots on as I need some dream team points from you two!
Well done Wolves for getting Jarvis to sign a new contract – long may his impressive form continue.
I’ve got my ticket so need to stay confident, 2-1 Wolves with SEB and Jarvis bagging the goals!
Thought I heard Zubes had a hammy injury? 2-1 defeat sorry.
4-5-1 sounds like the best op to me!
hate playing for draws but ill be happy to come out of this one with a point.
1-1 draw here, craddock header from a set piece.
I really want to see jones taken off (as much as i rate him) and 2 of doyle / SEB / fletcher put in as a lone striker with an attacking midfield role, more out of curiosity than anything else haha.
UTW
2-2. Not sure who will score. Don’t care.
To whomever is going, have a great day, and give them a shout for me. I’ll be busy trying to get a reliable download!
Is it not on Fox?
No t’OM …not on viewers choice 🙁
same situation here dazza (im in sydney). ill unfortunately be at my girlfriends place which has near dialup speed internet which rules me out for a lot of web browsing let alone watching wolves live… but give iraqgoals.net a go, its been hot and cold but at least it let me watch wolves vs west ham last season!
Mate…try firstrow.net
I can see that there is a stream on there ready to come online
Also, if you have MIRC downloaded? There sometimes a few guys in a chat room called #Themol…. ( through any undernet server) ..and they will help you find something
Last season I managed to get commentary from Radio WM !
Have a good time in Sydney..beautiful day here is BrizVegas today
That can’t be right. You’re in a 35 degree paradise and you get wm?! Seems a bit unfair considering the amount of times I’ve been stuck on the m6 in pissing rain without a signal!
I’ll have to agree with you Tom. 1-1. Also, i was working last weekend so couldn’t get my prediction in, but I was going to predict 1-1. Honest…
I agree Ben. I can’t get radio WM in newcastle, yet its readily availible down under…
in the words of Bollo from the mighty boosh “I gotta bad feeling about this” so I’m predicting 2:1 to fulham….
0-0 but more entertaining than our trip there last year
