If Wolves do end up in the Premier League next season they’ll benefit from the experience of this chastening defeat.
In a forgettable first half, they moved the ball well at times and kept a dangerous Fulham attack subdued.
Ruben Neves was missed, as he would be by any team at this level, but the structure and organisation remained in place.
That is until a couple of sloppy giveaways afforded the hosts an opportunity and nobody tracked Ryan Sessegnon from the rebound.
The second goal was more about good old fashioned forward play. The strength, the body roll, the turn and shot from Mitrovic were all of top flight quality.
His match-winning contribution only served to underline the lack of cutting edge from the visitors.
Costa, so lithe and pacy in approach, was back in the habit of stumbling at the crucial moment.
Bonatini dropped deep and linked play, but rarely got in the box and never once threatened to score.
Even the usually imperious Diogo Jota fluffed with a miss of the season contender that could have asked a question in the final moments.
No, front to back it wasn’t their night and, as a consequence, painfully routine for the hosts.
Fulham are on a par with many of the teams eking out an existence in the lower echelons of the top flight, which is to say generally tidy and capable of exploiting weakness.
And there was far too much weakness in this performance with only Cavaleiro showing the required drive and intensity.
In the Premier League, this type of treatment will be routinely dished out.
To even get there though, better is required.

I’ve got several additions newly engraved in the old memory bank from yesterday’s game at Craven Cottage.
1) Their ground. Picture perfect and as old fashioned as my lovely old gran.
2) Their crowd. Politely sitting in their seats and clapping their cardboard clackers, or whatever they call them, in answer to our raucous racket.
3) Our crowd. Loud, louder and then not quite so loud as the game went on. Impolitely standing as the nice announcer chappy told us that Fulham operated a no standing policy and, if we didn’t sit down we would be liable to ejection from the ground. All 4,500 of us!
4) Their team. Almost matching us in the first half and then completely outfighting, out thinking and outplaying us for the last half an hour.
5) Diogo Jota being called a “Stupid, useless f***ing c**t!” by an inebriated Wolves ’supporter’ standing near us as he missed that sitter in the second half. Well deserved I thought – I mean, what has he ever done for us?
6) A young supporter, about seven or eight years old, being encouraged by his (I presume) father to give the well known ‘you’re a wan*er’ sign to the Fulham fans at the end of the game.
7) The two sets of fans mingling quite happily and swopping songs on the way out with only a couple of policemen on horseback to look on benignly.
8) Coming away disappointed but accepting of the fact that we were well beaten – so no complaints really.
It’s a funny old game, Football.
Summing up. Fulham look a VERY good team.
I thought that we looked OK in the first half and threatened several times without actually pulling the trigger in front of goal. If you don’t shoot, you don’t score.
After that we came up short in most areas of the pitch and need to get back to our Leeds/Bolton best. And SOON.
Saiss is NOT the answer in midfield, big Alf, for all his power, can be a liability at times – it was his misdirected header, when he should have controlled the ball, that started the catalogue of errors that lead to their first goal – and Bonatini and, to a lesser extent, Ruddy seem devoid of confidence.
Afobe looked useful when he came on, making intelligent runs and holding the ball up, and deserves some decent service and a full game in my opinion.
Nice to have a chat to StuWolf and nice to later sample the delights of SW6 after dark. A good Italian meal followed by a few Cognacs and some live music in The Captain Cook.
Fulham’s gone now. Forget it.
Reading next week – three points guaranteed.
Life’s not so bad, is it.
Nice one Doog. We to had a great day out.
Couldn’t have said it better, myself. So I won’t. Agree fully, especially about playing Afobe from the start.
It was a chastening performance which is best left in London. Reading ain’t got that kind of quality, but it’s interesting how the other teams have learnt from their prior experience of us this season and done something about it.
Don’t forget, we took Sheffield apart only a few weeks ago and Neves is only out for one more game.
As I say, we’ve just gotta chalk this one up to experience and move on. After all ‘Weem Wolves ay we’. When did we ever do anything the easy way?
UTW
As disappointing as it was it just happened to be Fulhams day. For a time in the first half we looked the better side. In my opinion. The key is to how we go from here. I look at it like this. 12 games are left. We have a six point lead over Cardiff. With our goal difference they are already two wins and a draw behind us. Over 12 games they need to get at least 7 more points than us. If we get 18 they need to get 25.The odds are already diminished. Similarly if we get 18 Villa need to get 29 which is highly unlikely as they will not need to win 10 of 12. I am moving out of the ‘wolves gonna fuck it up zone’ because the odds suggest otherwise. Let us all LEEP THE FAITH. OUT OF DARKNESS COMETH LIGHT.
Fuckin predictive text produced some silly errors above
Just saw it on TV in the Local, surrounded by gutted England Rugby fans watching that other defeat on the other 5 or 6 screens.
We looked poor & second best for most of the game. Their 4:3:3 formation stumped ours.
The blip is becoming a longer blop but yes we’re 6 & 10 points clear of our nearest rivals.
I’m sure we’ll do the business in the remaining 12 games. If we’re good enough then we’ll go up as Champs.
Lot of work to do though, Nuno may have to shake it up a little as teams are more acquainted with blunting out our threat.
I’ve been disappointed with the wing backs lately, they’re not posing as much of a threat as they were.
With Neves out there’s a quality gap in centre midfield, hope we can get a win v Reading & then sit back relaxed with him back at the helm.
Afobe looked more of a threat than Bonatini, the Nevesless midfield is a tough one for Nuno to sort out. Because Saiss & N’Diaye did not look the part on Saturday evening.
But anyone who thought this would be plain sailing all the way would have been deluded. A step up is needed though as the teams below us are looking very tasty & determined at present.
Fulham indeed look the part for a Prem place, a different side to the one we quite comfortably beat at Molineux earlier in the season.
We can do it though & we’re in an enviable position. But Saturday’s loss & performance on top of the late loss of 2 points v Norwich needs to be put to bed, & the real Wolves come to the party again.
As Harry Enfield’s Terry would say ‘Calm down, calm down’.
It doesn’t matter that Colin’s cloggers are 6 points behind us. What matters is that we are 10 points clear of third place with only 12 games left. Looking at our fixtures to come, I don’t in all honestly believe that the likes of Burton, Brum, Sunderland, Bolton possess the same qualities as a Fulham side that, for me, we were quite comfortable against until they scored.
To give credit to Jokanovic and Fulham they had done their homework and worked out that if they could isolate Mitrovic against Coady there would only be one winner. Thats not to knock Coady, but at the end of the day he is a midfielder playing (almost) as a sweeper and doesn’t get particularly ‘tight’ when marking.
Ironic that Ruddy’s best save of the match indirectly gave them the 1st goal. Had he saved Oliveira’s effort on Wednesday a lot of people would be a lot less nervous.
This is not Dave Jones 20021/02 MK II – this side is streets ahead of that one in quality and the ability to control matches. Be patient – the points will come – all the other challengers are also dropping points, albeit Cardiff got lucky in their last 2 matches.
Another well wrote summation Thomas.
After all said and done we got beat and its time we moved on.
What’s more important now is how we get back to winning ways starting with Reading come saturday.
The wheels haven’t come off its all about how we come out of this blip that counts, forget what’s happened its all in the past, but as wolves fans we should be used to disappointments.
I’m sure Nuno will sort it out…Hope so anyway.
Fulham were good but it still took our charity to give them the opening goal. I enjoyed our passing game in the first half as normal but we obviously missed our main men Neves and Jota who I guess was not 100%. Cav was superman but even superheros struggle to make up for missing those two for most of the match.
Afobe is our plan B but new plans take playing time to become effective. We saw a few more balls in front of him that shows we are working on this. Credit for his assist to Jota late on who suprprisingly skyed it which just shows it was never our day.
Bollocks to worrying about the other teams, we have the best footballers and that will win us the league in the end. As fans we have to have faith in that and back them through the inevitable bumps on the road.
With our point against Norwich and the results this weekend we now can’t get relegated so upwards and onwards because this IS the year. Can’t quite believe some of the comments on Instagram but at the end of the day we’re Wolverhampton, we’re top of the league ?
Instagram?
Schminstagram!
Social media for those with the attention span of a goldfish.
…… What was I saying?…..
Invariably top flight teams that maintain their league position from the off will start to flounder they get lucky or hang on to a result.
Then an odd blip for the best teams to respond and get back to their previous status.
Wolves have hung on in the past had the odd bit of luck and now blipped big time prob in this recent case influenced by Neves absence ..
We need to get back to previous ways
and kill the gap that is getting smaller currently to Cardiff..we need a run which means beating Reading then Leeds and then the big Villa game..
Afobe even now looks stronger than Bonatini and needs 90 mins..but that elusive striker who can constantly score is a returning subject..
Ruddy is becoming def a weak point imo
and Saiss is inconsistent..
Neves is missed big time but the overall
Team now is a bit edgy literally and in stratagy..
I’m starting to worry and as a Wolves fan I’m obviously used to that..
The good old bad old days are creeping back..
We are still at the top but these nxt three games are paramount ..
COYW
Truth is that yesterday’s game won’t be remembered when we get to the Prem.
Looking at the table it is worse from the recent games but we have the same number of games left as the chasing pack.
6 points over Cardiff & we have to play them.
10 points over Veela & we have to play them.
Couple that to games against Bolton, Blues, Burton, Hull, Sheffield Wed & Sunderland
We’re still THE only team to achieve 2 + ppg so let’s reduce that to 1.5 points ppg = 91 points
Let’s now give Cardiff Veela Derby & Fulum all 2 ppg = Cardiff 91, Veela 87, Derby 84 & Fulum 83
Still think we can’t do it?
We (the 12th man) can still help the team by supporting them at home & away.
Nuno will make changes over the next 12 games but his first 34 games ain’t been too bad have they?
We will get Neves back soon, Jota/Cav/Costa will again start firing on all cylinders & we’ll go back to controlling games.
Once again any other team in the Chump would swap with us if they could, so get behind the team & Nuno
COMB UTW FOwb
Really hope so, a good win on Saturday would go some way to putting us more ahead of the pack.
Yes, we have a six point lead over Cardiff and still have to play them. However, that match is at their place and our form recently doesn’t inspire confidence. I think that they might well be looking forward to that fixture as an opportunity for them, rather than us.
I genuinely don’t believe anyone is “looking forward” to play us.
Will they see it as a challenge? Yes but with the exception of Flum I ain’t seen anyone in this league that has matched us.
Once again this is the best we’ve played in 40 yrs I’ve been going to the Mol
We’ve lost games but no one has the same level/potential that we have.
I think it certainly was the case that nobody was looking forward to playing us earlier in the season when we were clearly in the ascendency, but things have changed now and I reckon a number of them might be fancying their chances while our former stars like Leo and Djota are simply not the same any more.
With respect to Nuno’s first 34 games being not so bad – yes, that’s true, but you need to look at recent form rather than season-long form. As far as I can see, we’ve only won 5 of our last dozen or so games in the Championship and that’s a lot different to the sort of points return we were enjoying earlier on.
It’s the recent form that’s worrying and the halcyon days of earlier season form has dried up it seems.
Pete,
Simple question:
Would you prefer to be Cardiff or Wolves in the now?
Right now I’d say that although we have a 6-point advantage our form is in a depression, whereas Cardiff are on a winning run. Therefore I’d say that Cardiff have the wind in their sails right now and we’re struggling.
If you take the last 5/6 games then your analogy is correct.
But we are the only club averaging over the 2 ppg
Very few teams go 46 games without have a few blips.
We probably only need 18 points to secure promotion & really really cannot see us not achieving a minimum of 1.5 ppg
This is the time we have to back Nuno, the team & support thru THIN & thick.
To make us all smile – things could always be worse – we could support the stripy lot be 7 points off safety & employ the worse manager in the division that gets less points per game than the really nice Mr PooLess
Yep, well it’s certainly true that you’d think we’ve already done the lion’s share of the work Rick and therefore should be capable of hauling ourselves over the line. I certianlyhope you’re right of course mate., but I do think that the next few games are going to be crucial. If we continue to drop points then the trend will get into the player’s heads and then nervous energy can become a real liability.
What a crap sporting weekend, we got our arse kicked by flum, England rugby get their arses kicked by the Scots , England cricketers get their arses kicked by the kiwis then jammy Cardiff score in the last 10 against bcfc
Don’t ya just love the championship eh , I do but I can’t wait to get the feck out of there
So we have reached our first ‘ must win game ‘ of the season in my opinion by the time we kick off Cardiff maybe just 3 points behind, who would have thought that a month ago , and with away games at Leeds and villa to follow , it’s getting tasty, I think we need to win two from the four of Leeds, villa, derby , and Cardiff because we can’t just expect to beat the likes of brum , Bolton , Sunderland as they maybe fighting for their lives by then , so let’s get the points ASAP starting on Saturday
Utw
Hopefully our fateless draw to Norwich earlier in the week will not be compared to the loss to Grimsby away in that colossal collapse from automatic promotion years back, a memory we have all wiped cleanly from our minds (clearly!). Point is, we should have beaten Norwich last week, period. And there are no excuses that can justify the draw. This loss to Fulham, then, would not have been so hard to take – it was expected. And then normal service would have been resumed next week.
We still have a good lead to help us secure the championship, but the psychological state of mind of the players will require some addressing by Nuno and his staff, and quickly. They must bounce back next game and level out that slippery slope.
Fulham are a good team, but so are we. We wouldn’t be top of the league with a significant lead if we weren’t. But we are incomplete. The failure to buy a clinical forward last summer, and again in January is now coming to haunt. I have no doubt that someone is already lined up for us by Mr Mendez should we go up, who we couldn’t bring in while in the Championship. But let’s hope the ones we have find their scoring boots quickly. It’s time for the men in the team to stand up and be counted. Every one else around us will be. Time to dig deep and sprint for the finish.
Come on Wolves. You can do it!
Go Wolves!!!
There’s no doubt that our pre-Christmas standards are only seen in flashes now. It’s still in there (ref Sheff Utd), but opposition sides have learned their lessons well. Our wing backs, so imperious in the early months, are now tightly marked throughout the game, preventing those glorious long diagonal passes which thrilled us in the autumn. They still do good work in combination with Costa and Cav but we’ve lost that outlet for our defenders.
Nuno prides himself on playing his way and letting the opposition work out how to stop us. Well, some of them have, so maybe we need a plan B after all. Otherwise, this stuttering, unconvincing blip could possibly derail the Molineux train. Or am I being unnecessarily gloomy. It is Monday morning after all, and -2 on the thermometer.
I’ve never counted my chickens, despite much advice that I should, but when I looked yesterday, I’m sure just a few of them had flown the coop.Still plenty there though. 🙂
We all knew we wouldn’t get anything from this game. The venue tight ground,in London, more importantly the effect of the Norwich result. It seems to me now that our season could be determined by one player.Benik Afobe. He showed enough to warrant a start,Reading would be a great platform. We desperately need him to show the quality we know he has. With the predicted further 3 loses to come, this is going down to the wire.NES attitude has always been about his team, the system, style with little regard to the opposition,so it’s too late for change,we have to carry on and hope that it will be enough.I saw a great tactic used in Spain, that would suit Costa or Cavellerio, who get frequently caught offside. That is for one of them to stay offside,as long as they are not involved in the first phase of play, then they are brought into the 2nd phase, with defenders tracking back, they have the advantage.Mind you it was Barcelona and Messi!!
Just to lighten the mood, just pinched this from the comments section of the E&S.
How do you castrate an albion fan?
Kick his sister in the mouth!
Sorry for being so rude, mentioning albion!
Good old Sky Sports have now changed yet another Wolves game. Don’t you just love it when you have got hotels sorted. Cardiff on a Friday night, great………………………………
https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/first-team/20180226-cardiff-fixture-brought-forward/
Ha! Still no good for me. I’m away in London 5th-8th April. If only they had moved it to the Monday….
You are having far too much fun now you are retired.
Stop it.
I hate it when you lose on a Saturday and have to wait 7 more days till the next one, looking a the reading game now it’s obviously a game we could do with a win, what’s worrying at mo is the goals we are conceding
Nuno has to do some work on them this week
I’m not panicking just yet, Cardiff are on a good run which won’t last they will have a wobble soon, let’s just keep the gap to third the same.
I would though do a few changes to Saturday I would play afobe from the start with cav and jota and dropped saiss and bring mgw in.
Wife came back in and said “I can see by your face they have lost so will not ask”
In the words of the programme “do not panic Mr Mannering”
Fulham deserved the win, but bonnatini never turned up, ndiye gets the hook instead off saiss but he had done a lot of work, costa gets pushed off the ball too easily, ruddy the flapper.
We need to shoot when we get in good positions as we now seem to want to pass, Afobe may start the next game.
Think we are mentally fatigued at the moment but in Nuno we trust and Neves will be back soon.
P.S.
Can we have the prediction league updated please as witley is pushing for the top and ashK finally got a prediction right on Saturday.
That’s no way to treat the defending titleholder!
So, the Winter Olympics Marathon Ice Speed Skating thingy has come to The Molineux.
One bloke zooms off into the seemingly uncatchable distance early doors, only for the rest to gradually overhaul him.
However, this bloke has a cunning plan, hopefully!
He lets the chasing losers slowly catch up, conserving his strength whilst the others knacker themselves catching him, then off he zooms again, leaving them in his dust, or whatever they have on ice.
This, my dear friends, is Nuno’s cunning plan and strategy!
Catching our breath for the final push.
We are still in prime place for automatic promotion, which has been our ONLY goal all season.
Five defeats.
We’ed a took that at the start of the season.
Let’s stop with the negativity, second guessing and armchair quarterbacking 100% hindsight.
So we lost a game.
So a few players had an off day together.
So Neves is out for one more game, and Dangerous Dave could run riot on Saturday!
Neves is back for the crucial run in, he is under contract, not a loanee, so will be desperate to get us over the finish line, so he can ( and will ) grace other famous stadiums.
This is the most exciting season for forty years, let’s get 100% behind OUR team and stop fuckin’ whining!!
Full house for every remaining home game. sold out away games.
Or you could go to sandwell and pick your seat, take your boots and get a game!

Great post Clive totally agree with you.
Wolves Aye We
Hear hear Clive. I’ve got a similar analogy in my mind’s eye where the classy athlete (Wolves collectively) slows down to let the chasing pack catch a glimpse of his rear and then pulls away again.
FOWB indeed.
Yes that’s right, we lost a game and a few players had an off day. But the wider point is that that has become all to common over the last 12 or so games and there really is nothing to be gained by simply brushing it off.
It’s absolutely down to Nuno to walk the cool, measured talk now and come up with a plan B to address the shortcomings of recent times and get back to the consistency that we had earlier in the season.
And there is also nothing to be gained by being negative, and bitching and moaning at something we can do nothing about.
You might as well piss and moan at the weather.
This is NOT the Wolves of old, this is the new era, the old times are dead and buried, we WILL get our mojo back, and we WILL strut our stuff in the Prem, Fosun will see to that.
There are some on this blog, naming no names, who I am sure are some of the boo boys from the Norwich game.
They remind me of the reverse optimist, who bitched all his life that he would never own a Rolls Royce, never saved and consequently never owned one, and on his death bed, his dying words were “See, I was right, I never owned one”
People like that, and the boo boys from the Norwich game should be in a museum, alongside McCarthy, Wernick, Allardyce and all the other outdated dinosaurs.
The twelfth man is needed more than ever for the rest of this campaign, and the team do NOT want to feel negative waves from the stands.
They have given us so much pleasure and excitement this season, with the promise of more to come next year.
For fuck’s sake, get on board and help push them over the finish line!!!
For pc and blog police reasons I have not named anyone, but you know who you are.
Two good posts there Clive; kitchen’s finished, I take it?
I just had a quick skim through the bloggers and there’s no sign of Sandra, so you can rest easy in your bed, mate….
All except connecting the gas cooktop.
So if you hear a loud bang from the West in the next day or so, you will know I got it wrong!!
Who is Sandra?
Amanda’s sister?
Sandra was the catalyst for the demise of Mildenhall’s girls, and was a main protagonist of misery that has not appeared since…hence my being on watch for her next (Cas)sandra like appearance.
The last 12 or so games?

A meagerly 27 points on the golf course in a freezing wind Saturday morning
The chariot wheels falling off at Murray field
The Wolves beaten fairly and squarely in London
Not the best Saturday of late
My golf will improve
The Aussie will get the boys firing again
THE WOLVES WILL WIN THIS LEAGUE
I have to agree with the analysis forwarded by Rick rack
Even though there are a number of potentially difficult games ahead, using the prediction gadget on the Birmingham Mail web site, my calculations have Wolves winning the league with 103 points with draws at Leeds,Cardiff and Villa ….
2nd Cardiff with the run in they have and play off places for Villa Fulham Bristol and Derby (on goal difference)
If we only manage the same number of points as I did on the golf course on Saturday I cant see Cardiff not losing a game between now and the end of the season which would be required to take the title
COYW
I have us finishing on 105 points using that calculater thingy. With Bristol City taking 2nd spot lol.
I wasn’t going to be able to get to this match but a last minute change of social plans, plus the generosity of Fulham mates, resulted in me ensconced in the Riverside stand at Fortress Fulham. The wind was blowing fiercely up-Thames from Putney. The luckier Wolves fans had their backs protected in the Putney End stand. I was sitting behind that great Fulham legend, George Cohen. He kindly took off his gloves to sign my programme. Gentleman.
I pretty much agree with eye-witness reports above. We looked dangerous in the first half but after the first goal went in, the heat was on. We were outplayed, out-passed, out-muscled and sadly, they wanted it more. OK, we missed a sitter at 2-0 but on the other hand they looked more like making it 3-0.
It’s easy to put this down to a bad evening but Fulham are a very, very good side. With Cardiff and Villa they are the form sides by a country mile. We’ve hit a disappointing patch but I believe we have the quality to hold off the chasing pack. This is now Nuno’s biggest test to date.
Fulham is local to me and was invited by rich, retired ex lawyer to attend.
It was freezing but a friendly atmosphere.
My first look at Nuno’s team even if it was Neve-less.
I saw glimpses of our magic but was slightly disappointed.
I thought both Doherty & Douglas looked very tired.
Bonatini as well and he seemed to lack confidence, as did Costa when going in for the tackle.
I’ve not been an Afobe fan but he had an enthusiasm that, other than Cav, seemed missing.
His play in the build up to Jota’s chance was really good so I’d start with Afobe against Reading.
Also N’Diaye & Saiss showed little creativity so I’d play Gibbs White as a direct replacement for Neves, give him the responsibility.
Ruddy gives a lot of verbal directions to the defence.
We will need his experience in the final matches….
Onwards and upwards…..
Great day out…..
Couldn’t agree more Robin about our performance. We started well and then folded.
We may not have been a million miles apart on Saturday. My mates were in the Chairman’s Club hospitality lounge and then we had great seats on the halfway line. I particularly like Craven Cottage Pie pre-match.
Time for Afobe to start.
I was advised against the Pie!
We were at the end where the first goal was scored.
Unfortunately had a really good view of it.
The sunset, though, was quite stunning.
As you say, time to see if Afobe can put his money, where his mouth is.
We can write this off as a bad day at the office but its been three bad days in the office in a row.
i openly admit to being part of the Afobe fan club, in fact if i was 20 years younger i’d probably have a poster of him in my room but that isnt without good reason.
He has proven himself lethal at this level.
He needs more than 15 -20 minutes at the end of each game to get himself up to speed.
Bonatini has run out of steam.ideas.whatever, so there is no excuse not to play him from the start
Jota has been a shadow of his earlier self and Santo knows this which is why he rested him
I didnt think Coady or Boly were that bad on the night so I’m not too worried and with Neves returning I hope that Santo sees sense and gives us our best chance of scoring.
Costa / Afobe / Cav up front until Jota returns to form
UTW !
As disappointed as most of us but the reality is we have been outstanding this season. First half we were ok (apart from the goal), second half not the best. Credit to Fulham as they are a very decent team, probably the best we have faced so far this season.
I have faith in Nuno and his coaching staff but most of all I have faith in our players.
Reading next up, weather permitting.
Long hard road we travel with a lot of bumps in it.
Keep the faith.
Why are people banging on about 2002. These players and manager aren’t carrying that millstone around with tHem.
You guys need to stop with all the bad vibes. We lost a game against a committed, in-form team, on their own muck heap. So let’s just get over it, shall we?
I get a bit fed up with all the doom and gloom. I know which position I’d prefer Wolves to be in at this point in the season, and it’s six points clear at the top of the league.
So come on, letsbeavinyou! As Nigella once screamed…we’re going up, nothing’s stopping us now!

Excellent piece of underpants related research Rick rack. Think I might put a pair on the man on the oss in Wolvo city centre when we go up.
Don’t think the situation is that difficult to explain. When our best eleven are fit the side contains four match winners all worth at least 10 million in the market place. If each of Cav Jota Nerves and Costa have the right mental freshness they sprinkle star dust on the rest of the team and the team functions as Nuno intends and we are unbeatable.
On Saturday two of our fab four were missing and Costa is still not mentally at the standard he was last year. Ultimate inevitable result is that the team achieves a pretty good standard not a pretty great one and we are just edged out of the game by a good opposition performance. My interpretation of how events played out y
Is that neither N’Diaye or Saiss were able to move the ball forward as quickly and accurately as Neves. I think Nuno anticipated this and rather than leave our wing backs becalmed up front issued them with instructions to restrict their forays up front. Unfortunately neither wing back looks quite as effective in a more coventional full back role.
I would never criticise Nuno but I think he has learned something this year about the physical intensity of this league and maybe he could have been a little more expansive in his approach to bringing in loan players or letting them go out. I am thinking particularly about Ronan. Given that he has proven he can cope at this level is he really improving his game knowledge and experience sitting on the bench at Portsmouth. Similarly Marshall may have performed a role in midfield as a foil to either Saiss or Alf.
However, need to balance this off by saying this was one game against a good side who have been able to so far perform under the cover of minimal expectation. Whilst we have been under the microscope for months and been carrying everyone’s expectations that we are already promoted. Saturday was their night, at home with all their key players on the pitch and hungry to deliver the biggest scalp in the division.
There is a long way to go yet and we already have a substantial portion of the points on the board.
STAY AWAY FROM NEGATIVE PEOPLE, THEY HAVE A PROBLEM FOR EVERY SOLUTION…
I was slagged off in a previous post for suggesting Cody should be moved into midfield bath or house into the back line Gibbs white ,afobe, jota and cav to start. ndiay , saiss and costa dropped FOR THE READING GAME.
Now every one is suggesting it is needed .
So for those who said i was mad . What would you do ?
I apologise for the slagging mate, but Coady should stay where he is. He has excelled in that position.
I would not change a thing other than start Afobe and let him show us what he can do from the start, and if he falls short he can be subbed by Bonatini.
But, that is only my opinion mate. I went off on one and once again apologise for subjecting you to abuse when you also have an opinion too.
We am Wolves Ay we.
A horrible pass by Bennet granted them their first goal. In with Batth or Hause.
Bennet was off balance and on his heels. It’s the first poor clearance I’ve seen him do since ….one last year. Which ain’t a bad return. But nothing gets past him, give the lad a break.
Batth is a liability mate. Simple as that. I am surprised he is still with us.
Bennett should be in the running for defender of the year, if not player of the year.
He only seems to be noticed if he fucks up, which is very rarely.
And who will ever forget Bristol City away?!
Glad you said that, I was beginning to think it was only me that rated him.
Thought you were flying off to China, or somewhere?
Off to Goa on Sat morning mate – if Manchester Airport is still operating!!!
Clive & Brompt,
Looks like the Bennett fan club is growing.
I’d also say he is up for providing the most excitement for the whole of the wanderers and Nuno in particular at Brizzle
Anyone that is unsure if we can Win this league should re-run the match FROM 90 minutes until 3 minutes after the whistle.
The maths say we can’t screw this up – Can we????
We’re going up.
I’m having to pinch myself to believe this is a Wolves page – so much positivity.
Loving it.

Just like the Crowd at Molineux, whenever the game goes a little stale or we let our standards drop, Wolves fans start having a go at each other. Why the Feck do we do this. We’re all one team, one club. FFS boys and girls it’s only a blog, everyone is entitled to their opinion, because after all that’s all it is, an opinion.
We are stronger in the Pack.
We were the same old Wolves for 70 minutes for the last 20 minutes after the goal went in our heads dropped and Fulham went for the throat. We are not in free fall, we are not the most fantastic team in the league. We are learning, we are developing but most of all we are great to watch when we pass it about. Come on peeps, let’s get together for the last push out of this Dog forsaken league.
COMBambinos.
How very dare you! Corrected below.

Av it……………………………..
I thought the Steve Bull outsang the North Bank by an amount last time I was in there.
The “We’ll Sing on our own” being replied by “Where were you when we were shit” by the South Bank cracked me up!
Be careful Larry,
Them ode cow shed dwellers might start an uprising!
Cuz they do like it up em.
As I said the other day when I got back from the pub, when I read about some managers saying Wolves were the best team they have played it was heartwarming.
Well, as a Wolves fan, I personally believe that Fulham are the best team we have played. They made us look average, and to be honest I have seen us play worse than we did, but they were just better. Simple as that in my opinion. Not going to comment on Jota missing the sitter that Afobe set up for him (oh i just did) as it was too late even had he scored.
Anyway, that is now behind us. Let’s get our heads together for the next match against Reading.
Still …… 10 points ahead of 3rd
I don’t think we should of let mason go he easily would of banged in 10+ goals from now till the end of season
Nuno out
I’d agree with you, but then we would BOTH be wrong…
Hey, come on, two wongs don’t make a wight – said a very tipsy Johnathon Woss
and Fosun, Mendes, all Portuhampton players and Ruddy
any chance we can recall Dangerous, Saville et all?????????????????????????
And Bully still goes to matches…….
Missed the game on Sky – priority given to little ones. Once the wooden hills had been negotiated saw the last few minutes.
Therefore had to rely on E and S and other blogs to read what occurred.
Reports ranged from “very poor” and “totally outplayed” to “played well at times” and “created chances to force a draw” etc etc etc.
Dear me what to believe? How can the game be viewed with polar opposites?
Well actually I trust my mate Bedford Wolf who says it as it is. In essence it was nowhere near as bad as some would hand us believe.
Chin up and chest out Bloggers – we are still the team to catch and we will not be caught before May. Beat Reading – unfortunately I will not be travelling from Bedford due to other arrangements – and the good ship Molineux will be back on course.
Incidentally if – god forbid – those dreadful arseholes Cardiff led by that even more dreadful arsehole Wanker Warnock – win promotion I firmly believe it’s time to kneel and pray for the future of our beloved game.
Lord help me but I hope we crucify the bastards in a few weeks time. I really do.
Enjoy the snow bloggers – hardly any in Bedford so we are wondering what the fuss is all about.
BOG
It wasn’t as bad as people were saying mate. Ok, we did not play at our best, but in my opinion, Fulham pressed hard and stopped us playing as effectively as we have. They played well and I consider them to be the best we have faced.
Anyway, we move on. Reading at the Mol next. Bring it on.
As for snow……… loads here. I am just praying that it does not reach Manchester in any large amount as I am flying out on Saturday!
I hope the snow, ice and general mayhem clears in time for your Manchester flight Steve.
Incidentally they interviewed a lady in deepest Siberia on the One Show tonight.
She was ticked pink at our predicament with a few inches of snow.
Over there they consider closing schools at…………minus 45!
Have a good time.
See you soon – really enjoyed our lunch at Preston.

Just been on one of F/B groups pages and someone had posed the question; “What’s your favourite song about God ?” I posted, #Stevie Bull’s A Tatter#…..It didn’t go down too well.
Steve Bull at Redditch FC on Friday 9th March for an evening with.
£40 to sit and eat at the same table as the one and only, very tempted as close to me.
Reminds me when I went on my first cruise, they invited me to sit at the captains table and I refused.
I said I aint paying all this money for a cruise and have to eat with the crew!!
Mildenhall.
You didn’t put one if those lovely pictures of Steve Bull mother on with the comment did you?
No sense of humour some of these Dog botherers.

The strength is in the pack
The Beast from the East is easing it’s grip by Saturday as the temperature climbs to a sub tropical 1 degree Celsius. So hopefully the game goes ahead. I always thought the Beast from the East was something in Walsall.
So you met Clare from down the Sutton Road as well, eh Cheesey?
Just looked at the Question Tankard and what impressed me was how well our guys speak English!
Compare this to some previous employees, such as Zenga and McCarthy!
I don’t know whether Eddie Jones is a follower of this blog (if he isn’t he should be because it’s a very good read) but I’d just like to offer my support to the way he handled himself when abused by a bunch of drunken Scottish morons after the Calcutta Cup match.
I hope he got the addresses of the pathetic rabble and is going to send Maro Itoje and James Haskell round to see if Scottish heads will fit up their own bottoms.
Rest assured that if we meet Scotland in the competition that really matters, The World Cup, they will end up soundly thrashed and Gavin Hastings will be back to doing what he does best – whingeing!
Sorry Stu, and any other bloggers of a North of the border persuasion but that sort of thing really gets me mad!!
Typical Jocks on tour. Staggering around with cans of Tennents Super, lol.
He showed a lot of control, Eddie; it must have taken a lot not to stick one on the prats.
I’ve always thought the Romans had the right idea!
Sky Sports strike again with another 2 of our games changed for live coverage making 7 in total now in the coming weeks. It annoys me as I have said before on here because we like to stay over at games home and away instead of having a long drive home afterwards and if you book hotels on non-cancellable deals you can get them bloody cheap. BUT, I also appreciate that some of our supporters can’t get to “live” games so this is brilliant for them. I know Sky isn’t cheap either. Why are we on Sky so much ? Because without a shadow of a doubt, we are going up and they don’t want to miss the BIG one when we finally reach Planet Premiership. Where am I going with this ? Well, having met a great many bloggers and I would love to meet many more I went to the trouble of getting in touch with The Novotel , where we stay for home games, and speaking to their marketing department regarding a bloggers ball. They were absolutely brilliant supplying me with different function room sizes, 3 different menus, special Wolves fan room rates (which are brilliant) which they would offer to anyone attending and discounted prices depending on numbers attending. Unfortunately they need deposits, numbers etc asap. BUT and it is a massive BUT, what would happen if we arranged it and then they changed the Sheffield Wednesday match for Sky. It would f**k everything up – even if they changed it to a 5:30pm kick off. This is why the power Sky have over clubs really does piss me off. Would really appreciate any of your comments with regard to the above.

Newark, lets give it a whirl, be good to fill the place up over night.
Hiya mate, hope you are well. We were there for the Norwich game and the place was full for a night match. I would love to sort it but I am sure you can see my predicament regarding Sky changing the date. Does anyone know the last date that Sky can change it by as we are staying there for the Burton game and I could have words then.
I think it has to be tied in Six weeks before Ian.
Hi Ian. Sky have committed to giving five weeks notice https://www.efl.com/clubs-and-competitions/tv-games.
How are you coping up there weatherwise? Just come back from our local (Barbara’s birthday) and it is wild here in Merthyr as we are in the red alert area for Storm Emma.
I see that Man U are sniffing around Ruben Neves.
I suppose it was inevitable but rather depressing.
Manchester who??
If Neymar is “worth” 150 million, then Neves is worth ten times that.
I am positive Fosun and Nuno are in complete agreement that the guys we have signed, and committed to signing, are the nucleus of our Prem storming team, and are going nowhere.
Nice to see Pep and his lads copying our playing style in London tonight.
On a much more important note, y’all will be pleased that the CFH kitchen now has running hot water and a gas cooktop for the first time in six months.
It’s been backbreaking for Mrs. CFH doing the dishes in the bath.
Don’t forget the penguin, Brompto.

The Man Citeh bandwagon rolls on and still the only two sides to cause them a problem this season are Wolves and Wigan.
Congratulations Paul Cook on being the first English coach ever to beat a side coached by Pep Guardiola.
Oh and Liverpool
