With two weeks to dwell on the result of this match, I hope Wolves can sign-off with a positive outcome.
Would another draw be considered positive? I think so.

Carrying an undefeated record into the next cycle of games would be a morale booster and 4 points from some tough opening fixtures shouldn’t be sniffed at.
We deservedly won at Goodison Park last season with a bit to spare but I don’t think we’ll be quite so comfortable this time.
It should be a good contest and one both teams will feel they can win.
Everton
The Toffees gave this Wolves team their first taste of what to expect in the Premier League in last season’s opener.
Although we got the draw, the pace of the game seemed to take a lot of our players by surprise and even with a man advantage for most of the contest I was happy to get a point.

Given the players they recruited that summer, I don’t think things really panned out how the majority of Evertonians had hoped – even with a late charge for 7th that fell just short.
There’ll be similar expectations to cope with this time after more eye-catching recruitment. Cash was splashed on Alex Iwobi, Fabian Delph and Juventus striker Moise Kean.
That said Kurt Zouma went back to Chelsea after his loan ended and the livewire Idrissa Gueye eventually got his move to PSG. I think Gueye’s departure, in particular, is a big loss to Marco Silva.
A solid 4 point return from games against Palace and Watford was slightly derailed by going down 2-0 at Villa Park last time out in the league.
They eventually eased past Lincoln in midweek but needed two late goals to progress with a 4-2 victory.
Much like Wolves they’ve built results on defensive solidity so there’s every chance this one could become a chess match.

The home end
I coudn’t find a pre-match thread on any of the Everton forums, but I did pick up a few comments of interest from The Grand Old Team forum.
So far in the league we have played three won one, drawn one lost one – All should have been victories with the players we have and money spent, could have lost them all. Carabao Cup struggled to win against a first division club. Look lethargic, off the pace and quite frankly clueless at times. Silva still insisting on playing Schneiderlin who constantly makes defensive errors, fails to tackle, gives free kicks away and insists on playing forty yard balls to heavily marked players or passes back. In essence I believe we have a decent squad with the potential for a good cup run and or relative league success, I just think the man at the helm does not know who his best squad is and where to play them. Wolves (supposedly one of our main rivals for that coveted 7th spot) on Sunday and really not relishing that one. Am I worried? Damn right I am…
1 win even had it come against an under 18 league two side and everyone thinks the good times are back. Its how Martinez kept his job for 2 years too long and players like DCL are rated as “having a part to play” at the club because they score 1 in 10 games. 4 games gone and whilst not panic stations we look average again despite another kings ransom spent on players. Silva has spent £200 million on players in 2 seasons yet we look no better.
If its possible to read anything into our early games, its perhaps that seventh is definitely our ceiling again. We are over-reliant on points at home and that has come through again in the games at Palace and Villa so far. It is early days, and I expect us to gain momentum and improve, but these are the type of games that we have to win to have any loftier expectations. The points differential from last year is the key indicator overall for me this season, I’d like to see us put an extra 12-15 points on last seasons total, and close the gap to sixth, but I’m not sure if that’s attainable.
Wolves
I was surprised Matt Doherty wasn’t included in the squad to face Torino. I thought he might be given minutes to help build up match sharpness at some point.

Traore will surely start on Sunday though? If he does that could be the key battle against Everton’s influential left-back Lucas Digne.
I thought Valejo was poor against Torino and generally doesn’t look comfortable on the right side of a back three.
It probably doesn’t help that Traore is playing more advanced than Doherty probably would be Bennett definitely has the shirt for now in my view.

Well done to Adrian who scored a maximum by predicting a 1-1 draw against Burnley and leads the overall Prediction League table at the end of Gameweek 3.
AgentCyan also got his prediction bang on, while Wokywolf picked up a point by getting the outcome but not the score.

Yippee. First one on. 🙂
A team who promise much but so far this season, have delivered little. Considering who they’ve played, it’s a pitiful points return.
Hopefully, their form continues and we can glean our first three points of the new season. Our team looked re-invigorated against Torino compared to last Sunday so I feel tiredness won’t come into play too much. If Nuno sees evidence of players feeling the pace, I’m confident we have ample back-ups to step up to the breach.
So, all being well….1-0 to the Wolves.
Hi all, first thing first: congrats to everyone getting to the uefa groups, I’m over the moon with this achievement! Fingers crossed for a good draw… which for me would mean Dinamo Kiyv, Ludogoretz and Fc Cluj, so I could possibly attend all the way games, me being based in Bulgaria. ?
Draw at Everton suits me fine, thank you very much.
Wolves are on a roll
Interesting read that mate. Safe to say Everton fans are unhappy; I think we could be taking them on at the right time. Full of confidence after last night and I think the Goodison faithful are ready to turn if they fall behind.
Can’t disagree with the team. Adama is making himself undroppable, while Nuno has said Vallejo isn’t ready for the Thursday-Sunday schedule yet. I fear that Bennett has hit a ceiling and this is one season too far for him, but Vallejo proved last night that he’s not yet the answer.
I’m intrigued to see how Cutrone would get on alongside Raul, but Jota all of a sudden snapped out of his mini slump during the second half v Torino. Fancy him for a big game on Sunday.
Feel that 3 points could be there for the taking, but agree that a point wouldn’t be a bad return at all.
I’m hoping we can cash in on some of the unrest in the home end about their up and down start to the season, but I think it will be a tight game and given our results to date a score draw feels logical.
Two wins in China, six wins in Europe, three draws in the Prem.
Yesterday’s game was exactly what we needed after Sean Dick’s anti football, a hard match against really good opposition.
If Torino had attacked in the first half as well as they did in the second, it might have been a totally different outcome.
However, they didn’t, it wasn’t and on we go.
Confidence must be sky high going to Goodison, and their fickle fans will be all over them like a cheap suit if we get the upper hand early.
I think this is the game where Diogo breaks loose and scares the crap out of an opponent.
He has been kicked and fouled a lot recently, but he showed last night that he is almost back to his unplayable best, and his sense of injustice might just be the spur he needs to give defenses a roasting.
And what more can be said about Raul?
From the camera angle last night, it seemed an own goal, and only when the replays from different cameras were played, did we realize how brilliant a poachers goal it was!
Superb display from him throughout, his work rate is phenomenal.
8.00am meeting at Nick’s Place if any Houston Wolves are reading this, breakfast and mimosas the order of the day!
Easily our first Prem win of many this season, 5-1 to me babbeez!
FOwb
Helps if I predict a score.
I have the memory of an elephant.
I went to Dudley Zoo and saw an elephant……….
I’m going for a win can’t see Everton troubling us tbh
Tough game. Everton were desperate against Villa last week but have got plenty of quality in their ranks. Expecting Kean to start up front, whose reputation is about as big as his price tag. Hoping he doesn’t have a debut to remember.
We need to be better than we were last weekend to get anything out of this one. I think playing at home on Thursday should negate any potential after-effects. We should be ready and raring to go here.
Agree with you Thom in saying that you’d be happy with a point. It’d be nice to sign off the month with a win but 4 points and undefeated wouldn’t represent a bad start at all.
COYW
Tough game I think. Would like to see Vinagre back in was surprised he didn’t play last night. 1-0 to Wolves, Boly header.
To date, both teams have had very few shots on goal against them, but both have had very few shots on target after 3 games. Low score win for Wolves. Adama due for a start to screw Everton’s left back!!!
Obviously a tricky one, as we know they all are in the prem. But I don’t think Everton quite match their spending. I was impressed by Richarlison at the Molineux last season but what I ‘ve seen of him this season he has regressed and often looks sulky. But for me he is their main threat, Bennett found him difficult to deal with .
However I am hoping for a win but would take a draw.
Morning John
You sobered up yet??!!
Hi Clive
Like the man said: feel sorry for people who don’t drink – when they wake up in the morning that’s as good as they feel all day.
The Wolves blog is like a bus.
None for ages and then two come along at once.
I am much more confident of a positive outcome at Everton after last night’s performance, even though we really need to start better. Very good sides could take advantage of our slow first fifteen minutes and we could be out of the game before we’ve got into it.
But as Oddball, in the classic film Kelly’s Heroes, said:-
“Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?”
Well I have… and I do…and I will.
We’re going to get at least a point against Everton. In fact, sod it! We’ll get three.
We are going far in Europe.
We are WOLVES! Wolves ay we!!!!!!!!!
Cutrone will not start until he understands how to hold up play. That is why Bonatini was favoured over Afobe last year, even though Benik was scoring and Leo was not. I hope Patrick takes this seriously and tries to learn instead of thinking Nuno will allow him to play a lot with his different approach because it just won’t happen, barring injuries.
Other than that, I’m hoping for a 1-2 win for Wolves. Why not?
Holding up play is easy, Tim. Kick either the ball or the ref into row z!
Ay Yi Yi (head in hands)
With a break in sight, I’m hoping we dig deep and earn the time off.
Changed my mind at the last minute last week from 1-1 to 1-0…damn! So I will revert back to 1-1 for this one. My twin sons are both Everton fans(don’t ask) so a draw should suit every one in this house. PS…TURIN game is on in it’s entirety from 5pm-7pm on FreeSport (ch422 sky) today.
I would be happy with a point from this game, but I’m predicting a win this time.
Our confidence is up and their’s is down. So far we don’t seem to be showing too much tiredness from this very busy run of games. In any case, Everton also had a midweek fixture – albeit not against a team of the calibre of Torino.
And I think they will be pushing forward for a win at home which should suit our ability to hit teams on the break.
Time for our first League win of the season.
COYW
Win or draw and I will be happy. Don’t think we will see a repeat of last season. Everton have a lot of talent that are capable of given any team a decent game. Hopefully we will start off as we mean to go on, rather than wake up in the second half.
Be nice to enter the break with a win.
🙂
Great start to my season – 0 points in the prediction league – time to kick on get something on the board.
A 4th draw would not be a tragedy leading into the break; however, 3 points would be the icing on the cake.
Everton are a little vulnerable at the moment, so when better to really hurt them.
Can see it being an enjoyable game, drinking a couple of pints at £2.60p a time, before some of the boys have a well deserved rest.
I’d definitely be happy with a draw and no injuries going into International break. Would be mission accomplished for this phase of the season.
But I think we’ll do one better. Team is hungry. Let’s do this!
Go Wolves!
if the vile can beat this lot then we definitely can !
home or away.
no sweat.
Not too worried about our first win atm , this is a tough game away from home and they are annoyed at losing to villa so will be right up for it
Personally I’m still too excited about our upcoming Europe adventure.
I was browsing through the bbc football today and was amazed at the good vibes we are receiving from all corners of the football world, seriously, I usually just hit the ‘ highest rated ‘ comments and move on because the whole thread moves rapidly into a insult fest
Not today though, there is a real interest in wolves with lots of good wishes across the football world
I have no doubt who to blame for this admiration either,,,
Nuno
Hard working

These are the days my friend

Surely there can’t be another draw.
Much better match last night than the drab Burnley game. Question is, was it fatigue or Burnley’s tactics that spoiled last Sunday ? I’m going for their tactics which suggests an Everton team looking for a win might just be vulnerable to some sharp counter-attacking by a well-recovered Wolves.
This is one of the original league fixtures. We did the double over the toffees in the inaugural 1888/9 season with the wulfrunians coming away
2-1 victors from Liverpool. So:
Everton always run out on to the pitch to the theme of ‘Z Cars’ . It goes Der Der Der Der Der Der Der. And sirens and all that shit. Z cars was a police based TV series. Well good luck Everton because come 4 pm Sunday your team and manager will be leaving Goodison in a police van for your own safety . Such will be the savaging you get from WWFC. For Z cars read row Z which is where Richarlisons efforts will end up. Meanwhile Zebedee (do you get the recurring Z theme?) off the magic roundabout . Spaced out on LSD will invade the pitch in much the same place as next door neighbours cat did last season. Next door neighbours cat, who enjoyed himself so much at Goodison last year decided to attend again and gets really pissed off with Zebedee and chases him round the pitch. The zonked out Zebedee is escorted from the pitch on. stretcher and next door neighbours cat is arrested. All of this drama can’t distract from the WWFC thrashing. Everton 0 Wolves 4. After the match Marco Silva said ” it is not often a 1970’s children’s TV program character who is off his head on drugs invades the pitch. The authorities need to look at that. We don’t want Ermintrude invading next week”. Nuno said ‘ I quite enjoyed Zebedee. He should be involved more often. I suggest Zebedee should officiate VAR next week against Chelsea”. Z Cars 0 WWFC 4.
We are a european team now with prospects. All this talk of drawing, nonsense, let’s brush the toffees aside and move on
Wolves to sneak it ahead of the international break.
OODCL
4 draws out of 4 matches – got to be unlikely but Sundays game is just one match so the odds are for just one game. They recruited some names but will they fit in??? Will playing twice a week catch up with us?
Don’t like putting this prediction in.
Despite heroic efforts last night I think the toll will have been taken on key players…. Jota, Jimenez, Moutinho….. so with a heavy heart we could lose this one … bedsides I need some prediction league points…
You dastardly sausage stealer you!
Yeah, and I was nice to him on his birthday.
Sent a card and everything.
Next year I might put a stamp on it.
Bastid traitorous personage he is.
Another drew I reckon after our exertions on Thursday night.
I too would like to see Traore start; Villejo probably needs time as so many of our players did, they mostly come good in time.
Jimenez to keep scoring.
First win. Good as in the bag!
Last season, I was so confident we would win. With so many games in a short time, I,m not so sure but with raul on fire, 2-1 to the good guys.
It’s time to break out of the PL doldrums and show its not just Europe the Wolves want.
I want to see the cat back, well to be honest, I want to see the game. Last year was horrible bloody stand was rubbish and gantries and lights hanging down obstructing our view.
I’m going for a,
Everton 0
Wolves 2
That’s my Istanbul and Braga trips booked up, looking forwards to some more Europa football with Wolves growing and going from strength to strength.
COYW’s
A mixed bag of a start to the season for me. Swept all before us in the Europa, but we’ve stuttered in the PL up to now.
Away to Everton ain’t easy, Add to that our failure to win so far in the PL, but also add the equally indecisive start to the the PL season from Everton. Given those additions and further considering the prodigious workload that our players have had to cope with, I’m going to go for the compelling solution of a draw.
Yes, it does seem like a bit too obvious a prediction and that does worry me. Nevertheless, 1-1 I reckon.
Europa Hang over
It wasn’t until
The 91 st minute that I started to relax on Thursday because Torino were a classy team ( I know their tackles were very Italian) and a couple of the chances they created late on could have brought back horrible memories of Wembley.
However not only did we find the way to win, I’m
Sure that the coaches and the team will have picked up on some of Torino’s moves and tricks and that all adds to the educational experience of taking on non PL teams across Europe ( for example their goal … great delivery and unstoppable header)
I woke this morning thinking another draw.. but my new theory is that whilst Europa games bring tiredness… they also sharpen the play making style and skills
And I’m counting on mr Traore to cause havoc again
Hope one of the bloggers can smuggle in a black cat too
UTW
Just to point out that so far we’ve had,
6 games in Europe,
with 6 wins and 19 goals.
This time last year we had,
2 points after 3 games,
this year has yielded 3 points.
We are progressing very nicely thank you.
Have some faith boys and girls. Have some faith.
11 games undefeated this season is an incredible effort, combining great talent, ability, enthusiasm and organisation. But we will lose some time – and Everton are no mugs and desperate for a win of their own to bounce back.
They just haven’t looked like they can score goals yet. Wonder if they’ll switch to Kean starting over Calvert-Lewin soon.
Oh dear this is not going well. My prediction league is the antithesis of the real McCoy. Hard to call this, Torino pushed them very hard and they must be a bit worn from all the games. An honourable draw to take into the break will satisfy me ( a win would be great)
Sorry to be a dry bread but I fear an ‘After the Lord Mayors Show’ performance and we will lose at some point. Everton are desperate for a result at home. Not a mauling I hope.
This will certainly be our toughest league game so far. I have predicted nothing but wins this season and got them all wrong. So keeping up with this form, I am going to take one for the team as they say and predict a loss. Would be happy with a point and overjoyed with a win of course. I would not be surprised with any result to be honest.
We can win this, and push up the table and then get a well deserved rest.
Theres a lot of 2-1 predictions this week, Paulus, so I’m going to go with the flow.
Hopefully the lads won’t be too knackered.
COMBs!
I think it will take a better organised team than the Toffees to turn us over, we are defo’ the business. Maybe even make it to Xmas without a loss, come on my heroes, you can do it !!
Think we will just lose out on this one…but what do I know and hope I am wrong again.
Toffees 2 – 1
I keep predicting 2-1 to Wolves & we keep drawing. So if I do it again & its 3 points then great, if not it’ll be another draw but another point so happy either way.
Never thought I would say this but Adama over Doc to start!
COYW
Last game before the break so hope the lads will give it a real go
Everton smarting from vile defeat
Jota and Boly to score
I can see us getting something here but these days I pretty much back us against anyone. I thought we did well in mid week but we’re not the same without Neves. Even though saiss did well I think our Portuguese star brings more to the party. He hasn’t quite hit the form we’d all like but he starts as many games as possible for me. I’ll be watching from sunny Cyprus this week so start my holiday off with a bang boys…
Thursday was a fabulous result for our heroes but now it is back to the bread and butter of the PL.
Wolves will need to dig deep for this – and I think they will.
Watched the Villa play this lot, and I thought most of the Everton players were off their game, particularly their portugese lad who score against us last year. Not sure they can be so bad 2 games running, while we are very consistent despite our slow starts. No reason we cant win this one, if our ex manager Dean Saunders is still out on bail, maybe he will see the game. Should have got 3 months extra for impersonating a football manager, worse even than clipboard, Morgans toyboy!! In the pub sunday to cheer the lads on, same score as last season please.
Unbeaten so far is quite a nice thing to say but the 3 draws taints it slightly. We need a win against the Toffees and I think they are still feeling their feet with their new signings. I think we can do a smash n grab here……..
After predicting 3 draws, and being top of the prediction league for the first time ever, I’m well chuffed. Now if we can go into the international break with a win and climbing into the top 10, I will be a happy bunny indeed. So come Wolves, make me a happy bunny.
On my jollies again ! Will be watching this one in La Cala Spain ??.. see this being a tight game but we should prevail!
Just watched the vile highlights and greasy Grealish getting booked for diving ha ha ha ha
COYW
Lovely to watch Sean Dick screaming and bitching at everyone except his own player’s inadequacies as they are losing 0-2 just before half time.
Nice to see the villa back to their losing ways as well!
I know we seem to be stuck in a draw sequence, but I can’t find it in me to forecast anything but a win. Stu (above) pointed out the improvement over last year and, with the possible exception of Man C and Liverpool, for me we can give anyone a game, you can see the maturity growing week by week.
COYW, let’s go into the break in style.
We’ve not hit our stride in the prem this season. At some point it’s going to click. I think this weekend is as likely as any other against a team from which much is expected but have in fact shown bugger all.
I’m going bold for this one.
Anyone intending going to Istanbul on 3rd Oct for the Wolves game, bear in mind, you require a visa – 20 dollars
And assuming we’re out of the EU. you’ll need one for any other games in Europe too.
I thought Everton were garbage against Villa – at least after going a goal down. Yet they have individuals that could hurt us if we let them.
If we don’t win, or get a convincing draw, the narrative of Europa fatigue will certainly set in.
Like a few commenters suggest, getting an early goal might be key. Especially big performances needed from Jota, Jiminez and our two wing backs me thinks.
Villa Scum at the Palace today.
Bet they don’t get a ban…

I thought Jurassic Park was a fantasy, but it shows there really are dinosaurs walking the earth.
Wankers. Always have bin
Would like to see us start the game better than we have against Man U and Burnley. Would be happy with a draw but we can definitely win this, COMB’s!
Go Wolves!
Marc Silva is potentially under pressure to gel his new recruits into what on paper looks like a good team
So at the back we need to be tight and following the game on Thursday,Sunday will not be a game for the Real loanee……he was poor
In midfield and upfront I believe we can capitalise on some of their highlighted frailties
Silva I believe will be under more pressure going into the break as this is their 5th game only beating lower division outfit through superior fitness at the end of the game and lacking cohesion brought through introducing new players to the best league in the world …..this s a 3 point game for the Gdansk bound boys …….3-0
More in hope than expectation given my record this season, will continue to forcast a win.
Think this will be a tough one before a much-needed break.
I’m terrible at predicting results. Definitely good odds for me to get the wooden spoon award.
Going for the same result as our opening game last season. Unbeaten before the international break, regrouping, and then pushing on against Chelsea and Braga… Good times.
Don’t worry Dom, no awards in the PL.
Just changing the subject for a bit. Can anyone explain why VAR did not rule out Newcastle’s goal yesterday. Remarkably similar to our goal at Leicester which was ruled no goal. And Leicester get away with it again when their bloke is a clear red card. ?
Wife’s Birthday today
She hasn’t questioned why I am taking her to the pub for a late lunch ,
Good man!
Wolves and Manchester City were punished as a ball brushed attackers arms and the brainless rule says that a foul must be given whatever, unless you are a defender and then the reverse counts. A couple of weeks later, Newcastle are allowed a goal despite the ball hitting an arm. `They don’t know what they are doing!`
Some of the laws and, especially, their implementation is truly and utterly Shambolic and inept. Apparently it is more difficult than `rocket science` to monitor a football game.
As for the game veering to becoming, at times, a none contact sport due to the fear of immediate collapse if, heaven forbid, a part of the body is touched, no matter how lightly, my heart weeps at the diving and play acting.
Steam is coming out of my ears as the ineptitude and lack of common sense of the football authorities continues and increases season after season. Have any of them played, because they show little knowledge or understanding of what goes on on a football pitch. I speak as one who played adult football for forty-six years and have seen and experienced it all. Phew; feel better now…
Forgot to guess the score for today!
First away league win of the season.
Adama to have a big game. Both teams with good defences
Si Senor is on a roll, so it could well be his day for two more. If our defence is more solid, giving away less corners and no silly mistakes, I fancy Wolves today.
Nearly forgot
Wolves too
Win two nil
Funny story. I was doing my 3.5 hr drive and took the time to realize that Cutrone could actually start instead of Jota because Diogo doesn’t have the same responsibility to hold up play like Raul does.
And then it happens.
Now Nuno is actually reading my mind. Time to get the Tim-foil out.
Cutrone to score off an Adama cross. You read it here, first.
What a week we’ve had in qualifying for the group stages in Europe. Nevertheless we have to get our PL campaign going, although we are unbeaten throughout pre-season and actual season. Pretty satisfying situation.
I think we will kickstart things today with a 2-1 win. Adama is on a roll, back to his brief unstoppable best under Pulis at Boro. In fact he now has end product, at least in great assists. He should scare the shite out of Everton today rampaging down that right channel.
I have got a feeling we have another draw on our hands. hoping for Traore start
Same as last year. Win for Wolves
FOwb vella & the toffees
FWAW
Achieved great things already this season already but we are clearly ready for a break. Would be overjoyed to see us keep the unbeaten run going, but feel this may just be a game too far at the moment.
Wolves 2
Everton 1
WELL WTF happened there???
Second to every ball – didn’t win a headed in our own box – couldn’t pass piss today.
Surprised we got away with only 3:2 good job it was only Everton
BUT 10 games played, 6 won, 3 draws & 1 loss – in Nuno I trust & we’ll see him get us back on track in the prem after the int’ break.
Before anyone gets into us too much , Traore and particularly Vinagre are still young and they have struggled defensively today but will benefit from these games.
Boly has been immense for wolves so is due the odd dodgy game
Everton we’re just on it a bit more today,,, it happens , I lost a cheeky $100 today but am I too bothered? No
I’ll bet anyone $100 now that we will finish above Everton
Utmw
Just didn’t seem to be at the races. Maybe just me but the liquid football just wasn’t there today. And wasn’t there against Burnley or the majority of Man Utd. Early days. Really should have just shut up shop and took the point. Still above Vile. We move on.
Cheesy,
I think we missed the Cat today! And I’m sure he wasn’t even on the bench.
