There was never a single moment when it felt like this game wasn’t slipping through our grasp.
Wolves simply lacked poise and control in all the key moments – two things that are usually in such good supply.

Erratic in midfield and open at the back, Everton didn’t have to do a fat lot for any of their three goals, which is the facet of this performance that will most disappoint the boss.
The Coady / Patricio brain fart for the gimme opener was systematic of what was to come as the a creaking back three declared itself open for business.
Boly was continually dragged out of position, culminating in both the second goal and his silly late dismissal.
In-between Richarlison also got the run on him for the winning goal making it an afternoon to forget for the big defender.
Vinagre did little to help down the left and for all his promise moving forward we’re weaker defensively for his inclusion.
On the opposite side, Traore single-handedly conjured the first equaliser and was always the most likely to route to goal from open play, but again you wonder how much we lose in terms of shape and solidity when his starting position is 10 yards further up the pitch than Doherty’s usual hangout?
Couple these things with Moutinho’s omission and perhaps we shouldn’t be all that surprised that nobody could get a foot on the ball?
I just feel that in a quest for attacking thrust we mustn’t abandon the basic principles of shape and organisation that have brought us almost continual success.
In amongst the chaos, Patrick Cutrone was busy and unfortunate to see two powerfully struck goal-bound efforts blocked in a frantic first half.
He fizzled out in the second period and if we’re entirely honest, so did Wolves.
The increasing reliance on Bennett’s long throw was evident with a serious lack of invention elsewhere.
Still, when that route one tactic allowed Jimenez to put his head in where it hurts for the equaliser, I hoped we’d finally lock things down.
Not to be though as Wolves again allowed the ball to ping pong around midfield before being hoisted in for the final dagger.
Everton deserved the win and we have Rui Patricio to thank for keeping us out of the bottom three late on with two fantastic saves to preserve the goal difference.
With two weeks to reflect on the balance of the side, I just hope win, draw or lose to Chelsea, it’s the type of Wolves performance we’ve come to expect.
Because this certainly was not.

Are there any positives we can take from this game. Was Cutrone good, very good or average?
He seemed to get a few chances and could have easily gotten a couple of goals.
His interplay with Jimenez seemed almost non-existant, from what I saw. Is that what anyone concluded?
In general, though, they seemed to score at will. We tie the game and they score a few minutes later.
I guess we can just put it down to Nuno being out-strategized.
A BAD day at the office!
Coady, Boly, Vinagre, Dendoncker, were all way below their normal standard and Traore, who was our only attacking threat in the first half, was starved of the ball going forward and decided not to chase back when they scored their second goal.
The much maligned Ryan Bennett was the pick of our back three, which says a lot for the performances of the others.
The silly thing is that we could well have got away with a point if Willy Boly hadn’t gone to sleep fot Everton’s third goal.
I think we’ll just have to forget this one and start again after the International break.
As the ‘legendary’ Chris Sutton would say “We’re better than this”.
Totally agree. If there ever was a bad day at the office, this was it. And after the hectic weeks the team has had, it probably shouldn’t have been unexpected. They’ll get their 2 weeks rest and we go again. Early days. Not losing sleep over it. Sucks to lose, but we can’t win them all.
I agree with your conclusions. But it is surely the case that the central three defenders were put under huge unnecessary pressure as a result of having zero protection on the flanks. Neither Traore or Vinagre are competent full backs — they may be exciting going forward, but neither of them has a clue how to defend Their positional seems non existent, and neither of them knows how to tackle
Given this situation is it any wonder that Bennett, Boly and Coady were all over the place ?
Our success during Nuno`s tenure has always centered on a solid, uncompromising back five unit. We urgently need to return to this format
Very poor .I never thought we were likely to get anything after the terrible Coady blunder .We did not deserve anything against Burnley but got away with it but not this time .
Let us hope the break allows us a reset .We rely heavily on Moutinho in midfield so when he is not there we lack cohesion .I am afraid I am unconvinced for all his occasional great shots and passes Neves is the superstar some make him out to be. Is that why Nuno sometimes drops him I wonder .
I share your concerns regarding Nevez. Yes, every dozen or so games, he scores a wonder goal, but in a lot of games he has been anonymous. The raking passes so easy in the Championship are a lot more difficult at this level, and it would seem that Neves has not progressed at the pace many of us thought he would.
But, he is still young. Time is on his side, and with Nuno`s guidance he could still get there. But in the meantime, Moutinho is certainly key to our side, being by far the superior all round mid field player
I could only listen to the commentary on WolvesTV but from that, and what I’ve read subsequently, I can only agree with your thoughts Thomas. We have a system which suits the players available to us and as long as those players are available, all is well. However, with the Doc injured and a measure of rotation necessary to reduce fatigue, our well worked system is beginning to creak.
Adama is a fantastic weapon but can we afford to start him away to an outfit like Everton? Vinagre, despite his promise, is still wet behind the ears and can allow his youthful exuberance to take over. This, of course, puts extra pressure on the core of the defence and uncharacteristic errors are beginning to creep in.
All this and, despite Nunos pronouncements to the contrary, we are knackered. Not surprising at all and no reflection on the backroom staff. The last two months have been hectic, while their opponents have been enjoying a planned pre-season. No wonder we’ve lost the edge. It’s all about fine margins at this level and we are currently on the wrong side of the line. The 10 day break will work wonders.
COYW
Very poor from wolves.
For all the brilliance traore showed for the first goal he’s let himself down not tracking back for the Iwobi header.
Midfield just didn’t click and the defence was very leaky. Boly’s red card just about summed up our game today. Take nothing from Everton who looked the better side, moved the ball better and didn’t give up after being pegged back twice.
Disappointing to go into the international break on the back of such a weak performance because we all know were better than this, but hopefully this break will give the team a chance to reflect, re group and give a performance we all know they’re capable of against Chelsea.
Whoever decided that the way to beat Everton was to rely on Bennet’s Long throw to Boly at every opportunity and not play passing football was sadly mistaken.
Dendonker was missing throughout and handed Delph the freedom of the pitch.
Boly I thought looked tired which considering the effort he put in due to the aforementioned Bennet’s throws and Vinagre’s lack of cover but why with seconds to go he thought the block was acceptable only he knows.
Still onwards and upwards to rectify against Chelsea.
I think we’ll all agree it was a disappointing performance…. even more so in that Everton didn’t really create any of their goals as they were down to our mistakes.
There’s no question imo that we’re leggy and tired and still experimenting with Traore at RWB.
For the plusses of his attacking momentum come the negatives of poor positional play and a lack of tackling bite when and where it matters.
I thought Cutrone was lively and extremely unlucky with two first half efforts that were deflected wide.
I feel a little disappointed to hear Nuno say that fatigue or the busy cycle didn’t play a part but overall we got what we deserved today… nil points…..
Not the end of the world though … villa lost… loff
Fuckin Wolves ay we . Yeah not good really. But so were Everton who after the goal were shit. So were we the last knockings. Nothing to worry about Everton Leicester or West Ham.
Surely it`s time for a reality check. Priorities need to be addressed.
There is little point in all the European euphoria, if we continue to be so poor in the Premiership. This should be a season of consolidation amongst the big boys, but it appears that we are being side tracked with the European competition. Many a club will testify that a continuing poor start in this league will not be easily recovered.
Our recent form has, at best been very modest. The point gained against Man. Utd was just about earned earned, but we deserved nothing against Burnley, who on the day were far the better team. Today, we were just plain poor, and deserved to lose. We appeared tired and undisciplined — a far cry for our victory at Goodison just a few moths ago when we were widely lauded for an outstanding team performance.
Our success last season was based primarily on consistent team selection. We developed as a solid unit. Now, necessarily we are reliant on squad rotation, and frankly this has weakened all areas of our play. Some of the squad players are simply not good enough, but their inclusion is resulting in the loss of the free flowing, penetrative football of last season for which we were justly acclaimed. We are now struggling as we chase games. There is little cohesion.
Of particular concern must be our reliance on the magnificent Jiminez up front. Where would we be without him ? Goals against Burnley and Everton came not from team football, but from Bennett`s optimistic [ desperate ? ] long throws into the box.
On each occasion Jiminez somehow managed to convert half chances solely through his personal skill, perseverance and bravery. But surely, it is too much to expect that even he can carry the goal scoring threat on his own for much longer
I trust that Nuno will re-evaluate his priorities, such that his team selection for ALL Premiership games comprises our best players. We must surely become a TEAM again, and not just a bunch of individuals. The European competition in my view should be the games where fringe players get their opportunities. How dreadful it would be if come next May we find ourselves struggling in the bottom half of the table — or heaven forbid , even facing a relegation battle, simply because we get our priorities wrong now.
You make some good points Mike but I would much rather have a good run in the Europa league and finish say 14th in the league than simply give up the cups and any chance of silverware, and finish 8th or 9th. I don’t think 7th is on again because of Leicester and Everton’s recruitment and unless or until we are ready to challenge for the top four we should certainly give the Europa and FA cups a proper go. Because of our small squad, the fringe players you refer to should be given an opportunity against Reading.
Fully agree Mike, I just hope Nuno and his staff spend the next two weeks analysing what is going wrong, I wouldn’t say the wheels fell off but the hubcaps have gone and a few of the nuts are loose.
What’s the point in pushing to qualify for European football and then not giving it a go when we get there? Would rather finish 12th in the premier league and get a European quarter/semi final than finish seventh again at the expense of giving it a go.
Poor.
Vinagre was awful all game when not busy allowing them a cheap cross for the first goal or allowing richalarson to get the run on boly to easily for their second, he was weak in the tackle, had a first touch that spent more time out of play than in, and was easily the worst for giving away possession cheaply.
With Doherty and Jonny out of the team we look much shakier defensively.
Saiss is unfortunate but there is no doubting how much more assured we look when moutinho is in that midfield. If anything dendonker should have been hooked for the Portuguese maestro.
Cutrone was a handful right up to his substitution but he hasn’t got the telepathy with Jimenez that Jota has when they start together. There was a lot of work individually from our front two but rarely did they get it right as a unit. Jiminez was guilty of holding on to the ball for too long a couple of times when there were easier passes on.
I felt for traore the two times he got the ball in the last third in the first half he caused massive problems for Everton, only for his team mates to spend the rest of the time last lumping it long to the forwards or worse putting it out to vinagres side which was effievtively giving it back to Everton.
Not a good day at the office. Is now a bad time to say I miss Barry Douglas! He’d be a better reserve for Jonny.
The difference in one word . MOUTINHO
The difference in one word . MOUTINHO
Fortunately there aren’t least 10 teams worse than us in the prem.
Some folk on here are suggesting that our boys will benefit from a two week break. Trouble is that the bulk of the better ones will be jetting off to far flung places and playing a couple more games so they may well return even more knackered.
If you analyse today’s game, we were clearly poor but gave them every goal. Without such generosity we might even have won so hopefully it was just a collective bad day at the office.
It’s a shame that we are in the last year of the FFP cycle ,because when you see the transition happening amongst the “bigger clubs”,this season is the chance to get closer.Imagine Reuben Dias in defence and Bruno Fernandez in midfield today, against an Everton side who have spent 400 mill in recent times. The reality is what we really miss to improve the team is a box to box goal scoring midfielder. Can we hold on till January, for improvements?
In the preview to the game I spoke of my admiration for Richarlison but took the view he was not the player he once was. Goes to show what I know as he dominated all parts of the game. In defence, in midfield and of course up front. Carragher for some reason made Delph MOTM but for me Richarlison stood out.
Of course we created our own downfall. Patricio is a great shot stopper but his reluctance to come off his line and shakiness with the ball at his feet led to the first goal. For the third Boly was for once caught daydreaming by the alert Richarlison.
We were lucky to be on even terms at that point: a rare excellent run by Traore allowed the first equaliser but otherwise he was anonymous and unable to find space. And of course lost touch with Iwobi for Everton’s second.
Jiminez ‘s courage gave us a second equaliser but the knock he took seemed to take him out of the game.
Boly’s sending off spoke volumes about Vinagre’s lack of defensive cover.
Long throws are to me reminiscent of Stoke under Pulis and not something I expected to see from Nuno’s Wolves.
So all in all a very bad day at the office and we must hope a break will restore business as usual otherwise doubts will begin to creep in.
The team selection proved our undoing. Traore is never a defender and never will be. Vinagre still has time to become one but he is not one yet. The result was that our five-man defense became just three – which they are not used to. In the first half, time after time, the ball rained in from the flanks putting Coady especially, under immense repeated pressure. Boly could only do so much by himself against Richarlison and Coleman, who are top, top players, which was where most of the pressure was coming from. Everton spotted the weakness with Vinagre and exploited it. Credit to them.
Traore needs to lose some of the muscle mass. He is a footballer not a body-builder. Such a physique is not made for stamina and as such, he cannot last a full match. After each run, he looks dead. He can only manage five or six dribbles a game and for the rest of the time, he doesnt do anything of note – certainly not defending. For now, he is only useful as an impact sub.
The midfield yesterday was slow and cumbersome and with Donk and Neves off-key, could not hold on to the ball to relieve pressure or build up play. Sais provided physicality with his size but was also slow, rash and wasteful. He was a red-card waiting to happen.
The slow midfield didnt support the forwards so there was a lack of cohesion. Jiminez and Cutrone were not on the same wavelength and were playing by themselves.
The side seemed to be too porous and Everton sliced through us almost at will.
We definately could have done with a busy, speedy, mobile, ankle snapping type of attacking midfielder there today. Moutino made a difference when he came on but he only helped our attack and lacked the physicality to nullify the Everton attack.
Credit to the team for coming back to 2-2 but our style of play doesnt allow us to retain the ball very well or for any lengths of time. Predictably, we let Everton attack us and with our lack of defensive cover from the full backs, it was again predictable that their winning goal would come from a cross.
But all said and done, we amazingly only lost by the odd goal. If Cutrone had put his chance away, we may have gone onto better things. And although Patricio made some great saves, all 3 Everton goals were savable.
I hope this experiment with Traore and Vinagre is not seen again this season. They are great players but not in defense.
Our European exploits may have given us a false sense of our standing but the real test is in the PL. Perhaps this loss was coming after the performances against Man U and Burnley. In the long run, it may turn out to be a good thing if it spurs Nuno to realise that you cant put square pegs into round holes and that the PL needs to be taken more seriously.
As fans, we do get shouted down by others when we question the management. Nuno has become a god-like figure that is beyond criticism. But I would argue that they could be too close to action and need to see things from a different perspective. As a fan and a longstanding purveyor of football, I only call out what I see.
I guess you’re a glass half full sort of chap John, only seeing the good side of our performance.
Don’t sugar coat the pill mate, tell it like it is.
All joking aside, you make some salient points and I’m sure that Nuno will have seen the same as we did and rectify the situation.
It’s early days yet and there will be many ups and downs before the season’s end.
Let’s just hope we’ve got enough quality in reserve to see us to the Europa Cup Final and a comfortable mid table position.
I think that would satisfy me for now, then we can push on again.
If aint broke don’t try and fix it seems to scream out from this performance. Seeing the starting 11 at 1pm didn’t inspire me. Moutinho for me is our engine in midfield he wins more tackles and makes more successful passes and has more touches than all our other midfielders and the fact that Nuno previously has always picked him makes todays omission doubly surprising. Secondly I thought that playing 2 wingers, they aren’t wing backs, in Vinagre and Traore was also puzzling away from home with an attack minded Everton needing 3 points. Also playing Cultrone instead of Jota just didn’t feel right. For me if you want to make a change and bring Patrick in, it has to be for Raul. The Mexican and the Italian for me are too alike and I don’t think they had any combination throughout the whole match. What a calamity to start with, I know everyone is trying to hang this on Cody but for me Patricio was also culpable. He’s never that sharp in these situations, simply put I think he should have been out collecting the ball with Cody shielding. For all his threat going forward and it is a great threat Adama just doesn’t do enough defensively to protect our back 3 and together with our other forward thinking winger Vinagre made it a particularly bad day at the office for our back 3. So after all said and done we only lost by a single goal thanks to some fine saves from Patricio. Which brings me back to my original thought, why change things that are working? I would certainly have started with Jonny, Jota and Moutinho and my only change from the norm would have been Traore with Doherty unfit. Surely that team would have coped with the Everton attacking threat more comfortably. I’m not moaning and understand that we need to explore our options and we have played 12 competitive games already this season. The Premier League is unrelenting with no easy game and lets not forget the next fortnight isn’t a break for most of our players who will be representing their countries in some form. Let’s hope we can put an under performing Chelski to the sword in two weeks time.
When I got to the pub and saw our starting line up I was a tad surprised.. what I saw over the next 90 minutes confirmed my concerns.
Yes, we were awful at the back and could not hold the ball in midfield, but, if we play so poorly but still score two goals away from home I do not fear a disastrous future. After all, who says it is our god given right to pick up 3 points away from home?
Mind you, our style of play did result in us failing to secure a point, and that is what annoys me the most. Having come back from defeat twice, we should have changed our style and shut up shop. After all, a point away from home, would have been welcomed.
This defeat may well be a good thing and be a warning to our players, and to Nuno, to show we are not invincible, and that, sometimes, a point is better than trying to get all 3.
Didn’t know you were a drinking man, Brompters??
Everton’s last six home games:
Liverpool 0-0
Chelsea 2-0
Arsenal 1-0
Man Utd 4-0
Burnley 2-0
Watford 1-0
Give our boys a break!!!
Fair point but all but one game was last season, Watford are currently bottom and Everton were absolutely shite at Witton so a point should really have been the least of our expectations.
Good point but does n’t alter the fact we played badly especially at the back which is way out of character. Three goals conceded is more than I can remember going back quite a way.
I must have deleted our 10 man game against Manchester City.
Obviously disappointed given our largely good form to date but not surprised at the result for the reasons so eloquently outlined before me. We should be too carried away when we win or adopt a blame culture when we inevitably do lose a game. Our success has built on a rock solid defence with organisation in midfield coupled with intelligent, fast breaking forward play. With hindsight, a gift we would all like to have, Nuno would have balanced the side to better absorb pressure down the flanks. Too adventurous against a side of Everton’s quality. Can’t moan about the exertions of competing inEurope when we bust a gut last season getting there. The assault on a top 6 place must wait until we have new additions who add value to this side. Our bench is very thin. Back to basics against Chelsea.
Good report mate. We were awful yesterday, one of the worst away showings I can remember for some time. But I think a bit of perspective is required, based on some of the Twitter meltdown I’ve witnessed.
There’s no denying how bad we were but this was our 10th game in a month. We looked leggy and Everton naturally had that extra 10-20% needed to win the midfield battle, which so often determines the outcomes of matches contested by two even teams. I thought Delph was particularly excellent for them. What a signing for the fee they’ve paid.
I know we’ve got players going away on international duty but I think a break will do us the world of good. We should be recharged and raring to go against a Chelsea team that look out-of-sorts in the early days of the Lampard tenure. There’s no reason why we can’t aim to win all of our games in September.
Still very confident we’ll have a good season. Also worth remembering that we were only 2 points better off at this stage last season. So no need for panic stations yet.
UTW
Thought we had 7 points at the 4 game point last season. Traore scoring the winner at West Hame late on. It’s only from my diary entries so I could be wrong, not consulted the stats!
All fellow bloggers’ comments so far pretty well cover my impressions from the game: bizarre line up, defensive errors that we are not used to, no chemistry upfront, tired legs and minds etc. On any other day this would have been at least a draw, possibly even a win as Everton looked nearly as inept as Wolves did.
Glass more than half full for me, the season is young and I am sure Nuno would use those two weeks wisely… can’t even think about him letting us down.
How many tickets would Wolves get for the Besiktas game in Istanbul? Any chance some kind soul can secure one for me, PayPal will do the rest, hah. Istanbul is like 250 miles from my city in Bulgaria, will be great if that is the first Wolves game I attend in person. Please reply below my post, thanks!
Vladamir.
Sadly, not a hope in Hell.
Loads of Wolves fans don’t want to go, but far more have said they want to go at Everton yesterday.
BUT, and as you see, it’s a big BUT.
Due to fans who can’t get tickets moaning to the Wolves, anyone who holds a season ticket other than the one they use, (having two just for the big occasions) are screwed, you now have to pick your away ticket for the Europa league in person, with your passport to prove it’s you, also pick it up in the away grounds own city on the day of the game.
Your best bet is getting one in the home fans end, speaking Bulgarian you would be able to obtain one.
Definitely a Golden ticket nowadays.
Spot on Stu. My two lads who live in the French Alps had my ticket and a mates for the Torino game, but the guy at the hotel collection point wouldn’t hand ‘em over. I understand why as apparently some fans are selling on their tickets at a huge markup. The lads got tickets in the Torino end right next to the Wolves fans, as the Italian ticket guy knew they were Wolves supporters and was happy to help out. They still needed their passports as id and their full names were printed on their tickets, so Vladimir make sure you take yours. Btw you don’t get a refund on the original tickets. UTW!
Stu,
Wokingham Welsh Wolf,
Many thanks for taking the time explaining me the twists and roundabouts on this. Looks like I won’t be able to make it in the Wolves end and being alone in the home end gives me the shivers. Make sure I will do my best getting a ticket for the game, as I don’t want to miss the opportunity, although it will be a mighty feat trying to keep my poker face during the game. I had already been to Turkey to see a game of footy and I can attest first hand those stories about the locals being hot heads (to put it mildly) 100 % confirmed.
Also, speaking Bulgarian in Turkey won’t get me anywhere, but let’s not bring those Balkan issues here.
Once more – cheers for your input!
Back in the late sixties and early seventies, when I was a raw young skinhead, all mouth and trousers, Ben Shermans and Doc Martens, scarf tied around my wrist, I lived and breathed for match days.
When we lost, I would come out of the North Bank, steaming, looking for a fight ( to watch, always was a coward) going home on the number 11 Penn bus, getting in my room, throwing all my toys out the pram, telling anyone who would listen that I’m never going there again, shit team, no friggin’ clue, etc, etc, etc.
That mood lasted two or three days, and by Wednesday I was over it, and looking forward more and more as the week went on to the next game.
Thus it is today.
I no longer have a pram, nor toys to throw out, but I have become a skinhead again, through age, not choice.
I am already looking forward to the Chelsea match.
The result from Goodison is already gathering dust in my mind, there is nothing we can do except hopefully learn from it.
An employer once told me he didn’t mind if I made a mistake at work, as long as I didn’t make that same mistake again.
I doubt Connor and Rui will fuck up like that again.
Other errors, yes, but not that howler.
My overall impression was that our first touch, to bring the ball under control, was unusually lax, and for me, that was the big difference.
All the bollocks about being tired from lots of games is just that.
Lest we forget, boys and girls, if we want to go on to European glory, we have to play all these extra games.
If we win the Europa Cup, we are in the Champions League next season,
and we won’t have quite so many early games.
It’s one defeat, we knew we would lose sometime, no big deal.
I’m over it, I am sure our managerial team has given the troops the well deserved rollocking, and have made plans accordingly.
Onwards and upwards.
FOwb
This was an experiment by nuno and it didnt work.
the cody patricio balls up made it even worse.
vinagre played like a prize twat and boly copped the aftermath.
traore is really making an effort but should still be an impact sub its too early for his new role just yet but he is getting there.
midfield without moutinho doesnt work . answer… we need another top midfield player in jan. and it needs to be a big signing .
saving grace…. at least nuno chose to experiment now when its still very very early days
conclusion…. lots of work still to be done with the fringe players and its obvious we need to go back to THE first team we all know can do the business.
just the odd change in personel from now on nuno please.
I had a ticket for this game a present from my brother for my birthday but due to work commitments I could not get the day off.
What I gleamed from having watched the highlights over and over again was how Everton seemed to have moved on from last year how they had done there home work on us and how our summer recruitment imo was not thorough enough in midfield and at the back.
It showed our lack of depth in the squad because basically all those players on the field apart from Pathronie where here last season.
Vinagra is no replacement for Dotherty niether is Triora who is great going forward but lacked the mind set to track back for the secound Everton goal giving there man a free header Boly was doing his best all game to cover for vinagra and Trriora which culmulated in 2 booking and a red card.
Apart from Patronie all the other summer signing seen to have been brought in for the under 23’s which basically leaves us with the same squad from last season yet we will be playing more games due to our Europa League qualification.
I will probably get slagged off for saying this but as my wife has said to me many a time the truth hurts and imo we have not recruited no where near enough numbers or quality to cope with the Premier /Europa Leagues.
Hope I an wrong but I cannot see us reaching the same heights as last season the rest of the Premier League have up graded there squads Everton proved that on Sunday you cannot stand still you need to improve your squad year on year if you want any chance of staying in the Premier League……….I just don’t think Wolves have look what was on the bench on Sunday…!
Give Everton their due..my bet is that’s the best they’ve played all season…plus we gift wrapped the first goal.
Our starting eleven was a mystery to
themselves.
Lessons hopefully learned by Nuno
And his inner circle. Playing extra European games will stretch squad resources but that’s what we’ve signed up for.
I’d happily take a deep run towards Gda?sk and mid table this season.
Back to basics for Chelski and Palace ie our core team to start …with Cutrone Traore and Vinagre on bench
Biggest bummer yesterday was Boly’s stupid red card
OODCL
Not great at all. Still 1 defeat in the last 10 games ain’t bad.
A few weeks ago social media ‘fans’ were screaming for Vin and Adama to be given a chance, now they are berating them.
Football’s a funny old game…
It really does annoy me . One fuckin defeat and the world is gonna end. Fuck sake look at where we am. Group stage in Europa. Reknown Prem club for our tanacity and well deserved accolades as a team to upstage the elite . All that will not disappear overnight. For God sake get a grip. We are a good side. We will prevail. Stop pissing your pants cos we lose a game. I doe know. Expect to be slagged off’. Wolves ay we.
Cheese the world will end when it ends. and yes your right 1 defeat in 10 but its 1 defeat in 4 Premier League games which we have drawn 3 but were luck to get a point in a couple of them.
Beating the likes of Crusaders and Punkit home and away is not a bench mark for our performances or even Torino.
Europa League is all well and good but the Premier League takes priority every time FOSUN would rather stay in the Premier League than be in Europe that should be the aim from the first game .
I making my comments on our Premier League performances. You say some fans are panicking it could be said on the other hand some fans have got carried away with the euphoria of the Europa League.
A lot of fans have commented on the lack of quality signings , a ball winning midfielder a replacement for Dotherty instead of try to shoe horn in a winger. Nuno may be a God but even God makes mistakes.
Good comments mate. I don’t mind a debate. I don’t get in a corner and don’t get out of it. I fully appreciate everyone on this blog. Everyone who makes a comment does so in good faith. I know that. We are Wolves ay we. That is the bottom line. Nothing will take that away.
Don’t tell me you are worried about staying in the Premier League?
There is more of a chance of Ruddy starting a Premier League game while Patricio sits on the bench than Wolves getting relegated.
Really Tim you are that sure have you got the winning lottery numbers for tonight..?
My point is you have to improve your sqaud every year Premier League football is not a given just because we finished 7th in only our 4th season in the top flight in forty years, imo we have not improved the sqaud no way near enough in qauility and numbers the under 23’s yeah they could field 3 teams the first team has only had 1 major addition a striker….. Time will tell anyone who thinks we are certain of Premier League football is dreaming.
Arrived in Tenerife a couple of hours ago after a 4hr flight which was delayed by over an hour and had 2 screaming kids for most of the flight and a bloke in front who insisted on reclining his seat on to my lap. We are supposed to be on a relaxing international break holiday, think I’ll have to double up on my bood pressure tablets!!
Still, I’ve had time to think about the result on Sunday.
Everton are a good team ( I grudgingly admit)
We don’t become a bad team overnight.
I believe in Nuno to sort out any problems we might have.
I think Coady, Patricio, and Boly will be stronger for their cockups
We will start to climb the league soon starting with 3 points from Chelsea.
I think we should all pick our chins of the ground and be a little bit more optimistic, one loss in how many games?
San Miguel is numbing the pain!
Had an idiot in front of me all the way to Hongkong. Refused to lift his seat even when the meals were served. Probably entitled to indulge in “air rage “. Obviously not a Wolves supporter who are always polite and caring to others. Except of course to fans of WBA.
I had an idiot behind me on the flight back from Torino, kept leaning over and pulling the seat, (pay back’s a bitch Lowves) 🙂
1 defeat in 10, I’ll take those odds all year long thank you very much.
I enjoyed the game, not the first cock up by Patricio, I refuse to blame Coady in anyway, it happened 20 metres from my spot on the terraces and he gesticulated to Patricio to come and collect the ball but Rui stood there.
Silva had set his team up better than Nuno, which disjointed us, simple as that, we came back at them with two good goals but it wasn’t to be that day.
End of.
There is a glimmer of hope that the Bratislava game is going to be made available to Wolves fans after all, I hope so, because we’ve booked the other two, so the full set would be nice.
Come on me bambinos,
Twern’t me guv…you must be imagining it, you get like that when you get older!!
First thing I saw this morning at breakfast was a boggie shirt, I ‘m sure they follow me wherever I go. Good job I had a t-shirt with a wolves badge on, keeping the faith!!
No doubt he’ll have his on all week, they don’t know the meaning of the word hygiene those neanderthal inbreds.
What a Great blog of everton 3 wolves!
