There were few surprises on Tuesday.

Inevitable would be the word I’d use to describe Ipswich’s high tempo pressing game that Wolves couldn’t live with.
And it wasn’t any great shock that Stephen Hunt would raise his game to torment his former employers.
What was disappointing though, is that for all their individual and collective bluster, we gave them the win with two individual errors.
There’s no doubting that a handful of injuries have suddenly made Wolves vulnerable and in this league, the opposition soon smell blood in the water.
Derby
Off to Pride Park we go then. (Incidentally I preferred it when they played at the Baseball Ground. I went there for a 0-0 snore draw back in 1995, two years after Bully scored that wonderful hat-trick in a televised 4-0 win).
I sat watching last season’s play-off final in total belief Derby would end the afternoon in the Premier League. Quite how they tossed that opportunity away after dominating the whole game is anyone’s guess.
To their credit though there hasn’t been much of a hangover and they’re right up at the top again, playing good football and looking well set to sustain a challenge. I think they’ll be close to the top two.
The Rams have a similar approach to Wolves so it will be fascinating to see which side is able to dominate the ball on Saturday. As the home side, one might expect them to take the initiative.
Chris Martin is the Championship’s top scorer and restricting his opportunities will be key if Wolves are to return to the West Midlands with anything.
Wolves
If we were lucky with injuries last season, we’ve been anything but this time. Three of our most influential performers right through the spine of the side are out and it’s exposing deficiencies in the squad.

Pace up front in the absence of Dicko is in desperately short supply. People keep telling me McAlinden is quick but I’ve yet to see any rapid bursts of acceleration (in fact I’m certain I saw Paul Robinson lend him a yard and still get a tackle in last week).
Clarke and Sagbo are the other options but to play either up top alone is to fundamentally alter the dynamic of the side. Not much choice though for Kenny Jackett.
Whoever plays the key to success will be getting our wide players, particularly Sako, into positions where they can threaten. I’d still like to see RvLP given another opportunity but have no complaints about James Henry, who looks as likely to score as anyone.
Predictions
Well done to everyone who foresaw defeat at Portman Road.
Hopefully Derby’s style will allow Wolves to play the type of game they’re more comfortable with this time.
I think they’ll open us up but we’re normally good for at least one goal so it will ultimately come down to how well our defence and goalkeeper play.
I’m sitting on the fence.
1-1
Up The Wolves

Telly, injuries, Lack of depth… Will all come to pass..
God Help us…
Bloody hell. You’re a sage! Sadly.
Hope you had money on that.
Wow a bit negative Nige but I do think we will struggle with our injuries and derby are a good footballing side
Cant see us getting anything from this game however dont like to go against us. So I will go for a draw
I’m still gonna go for a wolves win. For me it’s time to reinstate stearman at the back. We’ve got to try something different . We could also give sako a go through the middle. Allowing van la para to play from the left and henry from the right.
Don’t fancy us up front at all without Dicko. I’ve heard people talk of using Rajiv as a frontman, rather than winger. It would certainly seem harsh to drop Henry, while Sako has been our main man this season. That said, I’d like to see van la Parra given a run out so wouldn’t be adverse to seeing his name on the team sheet rather than Sagbo, Clarke or McAlinden.
I wonder whether we’ll be able to contain Derby. Especially at their place. The January market can’t come soon enough for us.
Tough opposition but just the kind that we’ll raise our game against. We need pace on the break so I’m inclined to agree with your team Thomas.
I like your team Thomas .. Sagbo seems a better bet IMO than Clarke.
I’m sure that McLaren has been thorough and done his homework on how we play .. they’ll be full in our face not allowing any time to play.
It’s a mauling on Sat I’m afraid further highlighting our shallow depth in the squad.
Hate to agree with you Twixfix (nothing personal!) and give a negative prediction, but I do – the threadbare squad is the problem for me.
Why not try Sako as the loan striker – he can’t be any less effective than Leon and Liam can he?
Hope that you and I are wrong.
C’mon me babbies!
I think this one will be tough.
I’m with Nige and think we might be in for a drubbing….
I really hope I am wrong….
I’m with Pottsey, why not try something different?
Sako up top and RVP in his spot on the left .
I’m sure Derby have done their homework, so why
not make a change to our advantage while
the striking options aren’t that great.
I Saw Sako in his own half for far too much of his half hour against blues last week, get him nearer the goal!
My first negative scoreline..I’m sure Clarke will play and I reckon he’s only capable of being able to score 1 out of 4 chances….or Sako with a belter..that’s our 1 goal..
After seeing K macs form on Tuesday
I can see them controlling the middle too…
I can’t believe I’m writing this but I think my prediction is about right…
However we could stop them at the back, Ikeme plays a blinder, and Henry Sako and Clarke put in one a piece and reverses my forcast..
Here’s hoping, but the one thing I know which is almost an unfair pressure and that is everyone will look at Sako for a bit of brilliance ..
He’s become something of worship
In the current circumstance..
But he can’t do it on his own can he…
I wish I was there..it’ll be a great atmosphere..
COYW
Hate to do it but cant see any positives here. Hope im wrong (as usual).
Like most on here i think we’ll lose this game but I’ll go for the draw.
Bollocks to all the negativity, if we don’t go out there to win, why bother showing up?
Lets stuff McLaren’s brolly up his arse, then open it!!
They will have done their homework, which will lull them into a false sense of security, and we will take full advantage.
I have it on good authority that ALL the Wolves players read and digest this wonderful blog of ours, and they will have been stung by the unpositive comments emanating from here!
“Enough with the negative waves, Moriarty, get this Tiger tank running!!!”
I remember being so broke I couldn’t afford a Wolves scarf, so Scooped and I, in his trusty A35 van, paraded around The Baseball Ground one year, with a pair of Wolves socks tied to the wing mirrors!
Oh happy Days.
And we won.
FOwb
I think he still wears them …
Have they been darned?
Good socks those mate. Remember when the windscreen wiper motor packed up so we tied the socks to the blades & worked ’em manually? Man & machine in perfect harmony?
My head says we haven’t got a chance with this one. My heart is hoping for fortune to smile on us – a pen and an o.g. will do!
Without Dicko only Sako shows any sign of scoring.
If/when we lose this we are back in mid-table mediocrity, which is an alarming thought after the promising start.
How we need a proven goal scorer asap.
Back in business – hopefully
Until we get Dicko back I must admit feeling rather nervy.
For me, why not play Sako as striker? Our midfield has enough support for him surely?
No chance against an in-form Derby. Hoping for a win but ….
I’m back to being negative, and pleasantly surprised, rather than optimistic and let down.
No Dicko, = no goals, No goals = no points.
Hope I am wrong but am not confident.
Ever hopeful for a crazy game and a jammy win.
Hope we can turn it around.
McDonald and Eavens to score.
🙂
Unfortunately we’re not going to field our strongest side by a long shot. Dicko davvvvvve Golborne stearman all missing so I fear defeat. Golborne works with sako really well and makes us strong down the left. Stearman distributes the ball well and we build from that. Daaaaave pulls men and finds space and scores goals. Dickos pace and work rate makes us a different team going forward. With a full strength side we could beat anyone but not to hopeful tomorrow. Still we’ll see stranger things have happened
Whilst I do see a lot of predicted losses here, I do not agree with Clive that it is negativity. Our team WILL go out and try to win the game, but there will always be the occasion that the strength of the team is not strong enough to achieve that. Tomorrow’s game is one of those.
Having said that, I also believe that “fortune favours the brave” and if we are brave then fortune may come our way. So …………….
UTW/FOWB
A game too far for our threadbare squad.
We need reinforcements and freebies won’t cut it.
Thomas, I’m certainly with you on the debate about McAlinden’s pace.
He doesn’t seem to have any.
He does all the right things you need to in order to run fast – arms and legs flailing about all over the shop – it’s just that everybody else gets to the ball quicker.
At least the absence of Golbourne has been explained. He didn’t knock over Kenny’s hot chocolate or steal Moxey’s meat pie, he’s got a long standing foot injury.
Which makes standing for long a bit of a problem.
I’m a bit worried about the weekend but I am going for a draw because…. well, I just can’t bring myself to predict a defeat.
Particularly as Clive has it on good authority that all the Wolves players read this blog. What would it do to their confidence?
I also think that Sagbo should get a start; and if he doesn’t do the business, give Van the man a go up front.
And for all you Wolves players reading this, here’s my team talk.
You are the best team in the league.
Individually you are better than the opposition and together you can beat any side put in front of you.
From the extreme tip of Sako’s nose to the very back of Ikeme’s buns you are the greatest!
Go out and prove my prediction wrong.
Beat those Derby deadbeats.
Cry God for Henry, Wolverhampton and St Ken!!!!
That should do it.
Hope you had a good evening my friend.
Certainly did mate.
Oh! Yes!
Really hope I am wrong and that the old Wolves trick of beating the top and loosing to the bottom comes to the fore but can’t see it happening some how.
I think RvLP should be tried up front with Henry & Jacobs both in the team. NO way should Sagbo be allowed in, I am sure he is Bruce’s revenge for not being given the job. Also agree that Stearman should come back.
Like theDOOGooder i can’t bring myself to predict a wolves defeat. Goals are looking in short supply for us at the moment so not going into this one with confidence.
International break can’t come soon enough. Quite the contrast to last time.
I think we are being found out with our lack of depth.
We knew we needed a striker last year.
Sagbo????????????
A surprising but comfortable victory.
I really hope l’m right. A tough fought slender win for us.
I just can’t see us scoring, and just can’t see us keeping them out. Simple as that.
I want some of what Clive is drinking, Doogooder is smoking and Bromptons boots, if and it’s looking a real possibility I do get a game, me and the lads who read this blog every week will turn it around. We are the best in the league( in my opinion).
I believe life is about 2 things.
Turning corners
And in our case, the 12th Man.
Turning corners- the lads will find that one thing they do right and wil turn the corner from loss of confidence to regaining those defence splitting passes, (McDonald, Evans)
The 12th Man- I’m disappointed me little muckers Brompton, Doogooder, Steve Showcase and USWolf with his 2 lads can’t be there with us other 2648 Wolves fans because we are going to bring the friggin roof down and propel RVLP, Stearman and James Henry into a higher gear who will in turn take the pressure of the back four allowing Doherty to make his runs and score alongside Sako to give us a hard fought but deserved win.
Onwards and upwards.
Come on me Babbies.
🙂
I too am sad I can’t be there, but I will see you v Forest on the 22nd.
Come on me babbies, listen to Uncle Stu and turn this around.
Sad we cant make it either.
Both boys have football practice in the morning.
Sticking with your optimism and going for a Wolves win, just.
Hoping to make the forest game, and we should look for a festive fixture get together also.
Getting used to a new phone so sorry for any auto spell police insertions I may have missed.
Come on Me Bannies.
There You go. The phone Word cops got me right at the end.
Come on Me Babbies!!! Bannies now saved to phone dictionary.
it did or again!!! I William sign of at this point………F&?k off. Spell check
Ok Stu… Doogooder..I couldn’t sleep through the guilt of the forcast..we’ll win 3-1 I hate Derby and Mcclaren.
So KJ for Christ sake get the best out of the team available and tactics..and incidentally Clarke to score a cracker.
.
There that’s better..
COYW
I phoned the Derby ticket office the other day to book my car on their car park, (can’t go on the Coach, I’m watching my Grandson play at 9am) they said, “park in car park A, which is down 2 small steps from the Away fans end, but don’t wear your teams colours”)
Well, wev’e got them feckin scared haven’t we.
I’m tying the wife’s skiddies to my wing mirrors, that’ll scare the little feckers.
I’ll post them to scooped after the game Clive, P&P will cost me a fortune, she’s a big lass, even Jamie O’Hara wouldn’t chat her up.
🙂
Even though Mrs Stu (Jenny?) is a Wolves fan, I assume she does not come on this blog. If she does, I can see you being grounded for that comment.
And for those bloggers who have not met her, she is not a big lass and is very charming.
(That must be worth a pint?)
Okay,
That’s enough, you can have her skiddies.
🙂
Said it before, will say it again ……………………. Best Blog Ever!!!
Agree with Brompton. Mrs Stu Wolf is lovely.
Yes, I agree.
I have pix of her from May…..the bloke with her has his face blotted out!!
A very well earned and excellent point from this one.
It’s tough for sure I see us struggling against and in form team. Not much needs saying really that hasn’t been said. Lack of strength in depth is killing us. I’d keep sako out wide and give la parra a go up top.
First 8 games of the season Wolves scored 8 goals and conceded 3.
Next 8 games of the season Wolves scored 14 goals but conceded 14.
Lack of firepower or defensive frailties ?
Still remain positive. An away win for The Wolves tomorrow.
Sorry, omitted 17 points gained in the first 8 games ; 10 points gained in the next 8 games.
Sorry, omitted Wolves gained 17 points from the first 8 games and 10 points from the next 8 games.
You also left out the bit about us scoring two goals for Ipshite on Tuesday.
Sorry, had to do it.
It can Only get better
🙂
Understood you the first time mate. You able to get to the Forest game on the 22nd? If so, see you at the watering hole.
I little surprised by some of the negativity on here considering that we remain well placed in the league despite the injuries that have increasingly plagued our season to date.
When I’ve seen Derby play they have certainly look the part of serious promotion contenders, that said 2 defeats from their last 3 league games and just 2 points separating us in the table shows Derby are far from unbeatable. In fact you have to wonder what kind of position we’d be sitting in right now with a goal scorer like Martin added to the current squad.
Having said all that would prehaps be optimistic to see us grabbing more then a goal or two in most games with the piss-poor forward options currently available.
I don’t believe anyone is being negative, just viewing their concerns. A large number have predicted losses, but they have not come across as negative to me. I personally believe that:
a. Derby will be too strong for us tomorrow due to the unavailability of our key players
but
b. I am happy where we sit
c. I am unhappy that we have not bought.
d. I predicted a win.
So, am I coming over negative, positive, negative and positive?
You carry on like that, you will be Charged with a salt and Battery!
Have I been told? Again?
Call me deluded well I do follow the Wolves! COYW!!!!!!!!
Terrible terrible run of form continues, new pacy striker please
Well here’s hoping for a better response at Derby than we endured from the minority of Birmingham scum last Saturday. Hang your heads in shame you morons.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
We will remember them.
It was also our fans too. They were shouting for them to shut up, which made them worse. They (our fans) should have remained quiet and let them (Brum fans) become quiet. It would have certainly shortened the time it took for silence (imo).
I was digusted by the way!
There are things more important that football.
I can’t see Sagbo starting after KJ’s comments about him this week. Also, those calling for Sako to play down the middle are forgetting that he started there v Gillingham (a) last season and he lost so much confidence that he finished the game like a novice. For me RvLP to be given Dicko’s role. I’m not expecting much from this one, but given that Derby’s strength appears to be their away form I’m hoping we can nick a point.
KJ has publicly stated that Sagbo has been a disappointment. With that in mind, and implanted in Sagbo’s mind, KJ has reverted to psychology in an attempt to get Sagbo to prove himself. Smart move KJ. However, I still believe Clarke will be the lone striker. Who to play in the hole behind him then? I would put Evans in that role and bring Saville into the midfield. I also hope that MacDonald finds his form as he has had a few poor games recently. In fact It would not surprise me if KJ dropped him to the bench, stick Saville in his place and put Liam McAlinden in the hole behind Clarke. Sako/VLP to play as the main striker ? I would be very surprised to see this happen. The position of striker is a specialised position, both Sako/VLP whilst talented do not appear to me to be able to pull that job off.
The result away to Ipswich really seemed to hurt KJ, his body language after the match showed that. I have no doubt he has put across his displeasure in no uncertain terms. It remains to be seen how the team react.
We are all under no doubt about how tough this league is and the journey is long, hard and it can be painful at times. However I expect the team to react positively and bounce back with a good performance AND a win.
Onwards & Upwards
🙂
Just a quick note to say that I had completely forgot about Jacobs – seems his favourite position is vacant at the moment – time to step up methinks.
🙂
I’m feeling pretty fragile today after going to see The War On Drugs last night. Great show, and the 6% beers we were drinking afterwards have definitely left their mark on my cranium!
Even in my miserable state I’m still struggling to feel as negative as some of you. Yes we have injuries, yes we’re short of a striker, yes we’ve let in some daft goals recently, but so what? We’ve still got Kenny Jackett, and I’d take him over McClaren any day of the week.
Hopefully the approach we’ll take will involve starting with Sako and RVLP somewhere in the front 4, sitting deep and keeping our shape and trying to pick them off on the break.
And if it is true that all the Wolves players read this blog then I think the next thing to say is pretty obvious.
Can any of you lend me a fiver?
UTW
Trouble with you is that you’ve got no ambition.
I’d ask for a monkey at least!
Going off air for a couple of days. Hope those of you who are going have a great time at Derby.
Just read that Morgan has told Kenny that he has his financial backing to buy in January – yahoo!!

What happened there?
Not to worry, it’s Doubleday for me too !
Broad shoulders needed to carry that impressive lot.
How many rewarded for married life ?
Fair play to you Brompton, fair play.
Very impressive indeed.
Always said you were a good lad, didn’t take any notice of that bloke from Houston.
🙂
I can see a problem here.
There’s been talk of you slapping some dubbin on your boots and offering your services.
With all that lot on your chest, if you do get a game and we’re promoted – where are you going to put the Championship medal!
Your’e going to have to change to a milder type of Whacky, he’s got 7 on the left and only 5 on the right.
So room for Championship medal and FA Cup runners up on the left.
I knew a lass from Wiltshire who loved a bit of Dubbin rubbed into her crack, sorted her boots out a treat.
Mmmmmmmm
Could get a red card here.
🙁
Four on the left not five. They are my late Father’s. FA Cup Runner’s up? hmmmmm
Where can I get a t shirt like that??!!
Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Tipton, all the places you Yanks go and leave us true Brits to clean up your mess.
I think derby will win the title and go up automatically with boro. I did think Wigan at start of the season to go up behind derby but they can’t seem to get a run going. If we get anything out of this game it will be a tremendous effort as I think derby are probably the only team who can outplay us football wise. With Dicko we might have had the pace to exploit the gaps their expansive approach will create but unless he puts van la parra in a central role I certainly don’t think mcalinden, Clarke or sagbo will scare them. Hopefully Jacobs will show a bit more form against his old club.
Ill back us to bounce back after midweek. My head says a 2 nil defeat but my heart says differently
I have made the journey all the way from Denmark for this one and I refuse to be disappointed!
UTW!
Clemens.
I can’t promise much in life, but I don’t think you will be disappointed. We have over 2600 fans at Derby and we will bring the house down with our noise.
We are sitting at

more than 26600 fans? It is amazing!
and that should read 2600…
You scared the shit out of me then, It would be like a home game.
See you tomorrow
we might get tonked….but hoping we can grind out a point
Let’s do some Birmingham on them, eh?

Hey Stu,
Always a pleasure getting notifications of your comments, nazdrave!
I’m fine, thanks for asking. On the one hand, I’m worried about the game tonight (what else is new?) but on the other I’m quite excited about tomorrow’s eve – it’s the release launch for a band I’m releasing a record for on my label.
Busy days… I need a drink;)
Cheers!
You interest me strangely Vladimir.
What band, what label?
Hi DOOG,
I’ve noticed already you’re a big music fan, and so am I.
The label I’m doing is one of those indie, DIY-type thingies, nothing big…or financially sane, for that matter, ha-ha.
The band in question is called Trysth, very odd sounding bunch, mixing heavy doom metal with post rock and plain tripped-out bits – give them out a listen: http://trysth.bandcamp.com/
Cheers!
Wow!
Weird Shit!
They are an odd sounding bunch, but strangely hypnotic.
I shall have to give them a proper listen next time I light up.
Outstanding, you based in Sofia or in the Country.
I have lots of mates in Sofia, well all round Bulgaria actually.
Love the place,
🙂
Stu,
I’m in Pernik, less than 20 miles to Sofia, so I’m spending times in both places for nearly two decades now.
Thanks for the nice words about BG, we all know there’s plenty of problems to be solved, both economical and political, but as you’ve probably witnessed the people and the scenery are pure quality 🙂
I have been coming to Bulgaria since 1997 working with Disabled folk and hodspitals, so Iv’e met the heart and Soul of Bulgaria. Feckin love the place. My main focus is now Vidin, my best freind is an Abdominal Surgeon there, so when you pickle your liver on tne Rakkia, so I can get you sorted out.
Good luck for both Wolves and you tomorrow.

Too many injuries, derby too good
Although we have many injuries, we have a better tactician in Kenny than brolly man.
I expect an unusual formation up front (e.g. VLP or Sako).
This will confuse Derby and WWFC will be in front before they know what hit them.
Keep the faith, Wolves can’t win every game and we haven’t been embarrassed in any game yet.
Onwards and Upwards and FOWB.
On Tuesday I said that we might be heading for a bad week, with 3 points at best. It feels potentially a whole lot worse, but it’s at my local for the last 14yrs, which has been a happy hunting ground. So on the basis that I hope my predictions for the week’s total turn out to be wrong and if I predict a win correctly then it will be a coup against all the loss and draw predictions herein, I’ll hold my breath and hope!
I’m afraid I can’t see us scoring but perhaps we can eliminate the defensive errors and manage to keep them out.
Our performances against the better footballing teams have been encouraging but a point at Derby would be a welcome bonus.
Heart ruling head, we need to win this
UTW
Do not have a good feeling about this game, Derby is a real strong team.
I don’t think we’ll win this one, too many good players out & Derby are playing well. I would try Sako up front & put RLP in the squad. Clarke as a last resort & please, please, please don’t play Sagbo – waste of space.
However if our defence hold their own (which we know they can if they try) then we can take a draw off this match.
UTW
Sorry I hate to back against us but with their fire power, and our lack of it just cant see us winning.
I would play the Van man up front for at least the first half,i think he would scare the shite out of them with his trickery and pace, who knows he could be the catalyst we need.
We will be there to cheer the lads on ,so come on me babbies. UTW.
Got the feeling the wheels are coming off a bit, especially with the injuries.
I’d put Stearman and Golbourne back in at the back.
I’ll be happy to get a point and I’ll be there to cheer them on
More doom and gloom I’m afraid. We need reinforcements quickly.
For all that make the Derby game…
This has been posted on Twitter…..
I’m going for one of those memorable victories against the form book, like when we won the next game after losing 6-0 to Soton.
I hope Jackett will try some new tactics, fool the Brolly man,and certainly NOT play Clarke.
… and before anyone says that this is Facebook….
I gave up with Facebook due to all the moaning me, me, me crap. This is a screenshot from a post on Twitter of a Facebook request.
I hate predicting this score line but I think they will have to much for us !!!
I’ve actually got no idea which way this is going to go. After the performance against Ipswich I’m sure we’ll play better. No mistakes and a clean sheet but unless Sako is playing the full game, I can’t see where a goal is going to come from.
I think this is where we have a (not unexpected) blip with key players injured and the squad not being strong enough. I like Chris Martin as a forward and think we’ll need Stearman’s experience in this game. Hope we can find a couple of loan signings before the window closes. No idea who to play up front but would probably play Sagbo
Yet another fence-sitter.
Bollocks to it, I’m feeling very positive this weekend. I feel it in my loins of course if the wifey well, we wont go there!
I’m feeling that KJ has studied hard and long this week and can ill afford another loss or a draw.
Sagbo and the flying dutch chap to score both goals. Now back to having my loins…….. Good luck boys!
Cant see us getting anything with the main man out
Yep, feeling good this weekend so why not nail it with a wanderers victory. Feed the Leon and he will score!
I just love driving to Derby from my home in Nottingham, in fact the last time I was at their stadium, I recall Keogh heading the winner in a superb 3-2 win that as good as got us promoted all those years ago. McLaren has had what 3 or 4 years to get Derby promoted and should have done so last season, but their home form isn`t that hot. They are favourites of course, but we are wolves so bollucks to the form book and lets pack the midfield and sneak a scabby 1-0 win. After that England to beat the All Blacks to round off a great sporting Saturday.
And the shit to lose, of course.
Feck knows with this one, too complex to call but have to back us for all 3. keep the faith
Again no worthwhile striker, this is going to cost us
A gutsy, determined battle against a good team. A little bit of “rub of the green” our way to sneak the points.
No logic, just hope.
we’ll do well to pick up a point
Hi Martin,
Went to watch U21s on Monday night at Telford, they played a good Blackburn side. The Kenny effect is really shining through now and despite going 1-0 down in the 3rd minute through a bad piece of Wolves defending they dug in and started to turn it on. Weeks started really poorly and seemed off sorts splaying the ball all over place to Blackburn players. Butt then again, fast forward 24 hours and the first team were doing exactly the same.
But, they came back (U21s again) and started to dominate the match and had the 189 crowd even singing, weird for the venue bur encouraging, needed something to warm us up, it was feckin freezing. Something you will probably not get now youv’e jumped ship and gone Cypriot, (Jammy git)
Anyway back to the plot, Weeks really shook himself up and then stamped himself on tne game, his biggest problem I can see is he is verically challenged, but does remind me of Andy Thompson a little terrier and solid work horse.
The stars of the show were Connor Hunt and Ibriham Keita, on the ball Hunt is a pleasure to watch, but like the first team, he holds it that step too long and they take it off his feet before he can make that pass that turns games. Keita got 2 great goals and worked hard all night, if we wanted a replacement for Dickos tired legs, we could do a lot worse to be honest. He’s not the same as Dicko but could fill the No 9 shitr better than Leon Lazy town, Shaggedbo or MacAllinden.
Blackburn totally against the run of play suddenly found a gaping net and slotted home in the 86th minute’, a grave injustice for the effort and hard work of the Wolves lads. Just like the first team, so Kenny is achieving his goal of having seemless football from the U9 lads right through to the first team, (None of them can defend for toffee at the moment)
Enjoy your Keo beer, check the label, it’s brewed in Burton on Trent where I’ll be at 9 am watching my Grandson play before heading across the A50 to the game.
Come on me Babbies, tighten up this defence and we can take this league.

More a case of wish fulfillment than forensic analysis or random guessing
Our season has got every chance of derailing before Christmas; all due to lack of investment in a ‘young’ team that got promoted from L1. You can’t put executive houses on a football team!!!
We have got a good record at Pride Park/iPro but can’t see it today.
I will be going there still hopeful of a win. You never know, especially in this league.
Where ‘s the goals Kenny?
Feeling gloomy about prospects at the moment
Overjoyed if we pinch a point.
I thought the lack of depth might have been shown around xmas/new year, not this early.
Interesting bit in the E & S about the Academy, last night.
So whaat if it clst £7m, so what if the new players coming through will be brill etc etc etc….what about now??
And yet another promise to splash the cash in January…..but only if they are better than we already have……and they are available at the right price…cos apparently, the money is there, as it always has been!!!
And rumblings about settling the contracts of Doyle and Johnson…….
HAPPY BIRTHDAY THOMAS!!!
It’s been a rough few weeks for the boys in gold. It’s amazing the difference having Dicko up front makes. Even more amazing when we consider how useless his first loan spell with the club was. Glad he’s come good, but could do with him feeling better please…
Lets put the last game behind us and get something from this game.
Hoping for 3 pts but predicting 1.
COYW
Thanks for reminding me Thomas – I still have a VHS of the Derby 0 Wolves 4 somewhere – TV wasn’t always a jinx for us. I’m with Clive although I can’t see us repeating the margin. Surely we have to start scoring again sometime – let’s hope this is the time.
Wolves: Ikeme; Doherty, Batth, Ebanks-Landell, Ricketts (c); McDonald, Evans, Henry, Saville, Sako; Clarke.
Subs: Kuszczak, Stearman, Rowe, van La Parra, McAlinden, Jacobs, Dicko.
With the top 6 all playing each other today, the table “could” look very interesting by close of play.
The preverbal 6 pointer is upon us all up at the top, with a few others, such as Norwich v Forest another one to watch.
What a good/bad or average weekend this will turn out to be for us and all around us.
Here’s hoping for a defining positive result for the gold n black.
It doesn’t seem as if my prediction from yesterday lunchtime has registered. To repeat, I’m going for a sneaky single goal win.
I hate to say it but without Dicko or Edwards I think we might lose this one. Never predicted a loss before though!
Why RVLP is unable to make first 11 especially with the injury list and poor form of some of the players is beyond me. Hopefully KJ puts that right at Derby. Incidentally, reading Derby fans think we are a physical hoof ball type of side. Don’t see that myself. Wolves to secure hard fought victory. Come on the old gold n black!
Hope I’m wrong but going with the head this week.
OK I’m doing this at half time, I know we have injuries but is KJ out of his comfort zone? The back 4 today might as well as stayed at home. Need to see a big shake up or we will be shipping more goals than a cricket score.
Depressed of Dudley
Well, at least that result should stop some of the delusionists coming on here and talking about promotion. Interesting that derby narrowly missed out on promotion in the summer but retained their best talent and have invested in the summer. We get promoted from league one and are arrogant enough to make hardly any investment in our playing squad and will likely cash in on sako in January. Today was men v boys and Morgan, moxey and jacket should watch the video of that game every time they think about what they might do in the January window.
Where’s all the money gone 3 years in Premier 3 years parachute money millions from sale of players ie Flecther and others.
By my calculations £140 million plus not to mention gate receipts other commercial income like ex: boxes corporate income the club seems to put so much effort into (not like the real fans) sale of shirts I’ve brought the last 6 or more.
We will never know because M and M for all there spin wont give us a proper breakdown of income and outgoing yes they’ll give us the accountants version but who doses he work for a………a
The lack of real investment is starting to show category 1 Premiere Acadamy or not, I blogged the other day and in the summer Morgan and Moxey are expecting Jackett to fine gems at pound land. This result prove it’s a false economy. Jackett has been told I believe to shop in the barging basement because of the investment in the Acadamy. 4 strikers we missed out on and for one reason only would not pay the money to the club or player the striker who went to Wigan told the truth will Moxey and Morgan, they don’t know how to.
I’m not one for knee jerk reactions as many will know from my post… But WTF?
Striker needed before the next game, dare I say possibly even 2?
1 could suffice if we have an eye an a striker in Jan…
We need a striker now to steady the ship… We are rocking severely the last few games with a little choppiness prior to that!
Now good waiting for the Jan Sales as everyone knows Xmas is ruined if you do not get your pressies early!
I expect KJ to find the right player soon!
Well on a positive note, Wolves fans did the little lad that died of cancer proud we initiated and maintained the clapping for him. Good on you Wolves fans.
🙁
You could have 3 strikers up there but unless they get a decent service they would not be able to do anything.
Any one who knows football knows this result was coming. We were due a thumping.
The Momentum from winning League One has now gone.. It lasted us 15 games.
Now we are seeing how so many of these players are league one level. Hopelessly exposed at the back and nothing at all going forward.
We will have enough to stay in this league but will struggle over 46 matches to make the play offs. Goal diff is now zero top teams are almost +20.
Totally Outplayed in the last 2 games against totally different styles of play..
Even I cant now name our best 11… Too many players making mistakes and players coming in who are not doing the business.. Rowe, Saville, Clarke, Jacobs… just not good enough at this level.. VLP cant get a game, Sagbo gone home..
To move forward to the next level, Jackett now needs to prove himself at this level and M&M need to back him with money.
I don’t care what anyone says. Morgan’s not Wolves through and through you have to be born into it every supportet in the land knows that once you chose that’s it for life what ever got team his is Liverpool you don’t jump ship I know I’ve tried to in the dark days but I just couldn’t cheer any other team my mate tried to get me into you won’t believe this Liverpool and although I like them Dalglish and co they were my era I just could not follow them like Wolves I was 8 when I went to my first match and I’m 47 now so boo no one will ever convince me you can change coulits and for that reason I’ll never believe Morgan’s 100 per Wolves. Would he run Liverpool like he running Wwolves ask yourself ….I don’t think so..do you
That is the third time you have been on this thread whinging about the same thing “where’s all the money gone ….”, “the lack of real investment …”, “… Morgan’s not Wolves …” I can’t recall a post that you have placed that was a positive one. I am stopping reading your posts as they bore me!
Fair enough, that’s what life all about options you have yours Iand I have mine. The money issue is relevant whether you think so or not and I will keep on coming up have we spent enough have we spent to much, football is all about money in case you haven’t noticed.
For instance if we sell Sako which looks increasingly likely then I along with a few other thousand fan will ask the question where it going.
If you chose ignore it that up to you………!
Paul, generally I’d completely agree… With the odd exception…
Our very own S.Bull, he once had a heart of blue and white stripes.
Morgan has stated the money is ready for players… Let’s see how it’s spent by KJ.
If nothing comes to fruition by close of play of the Jan sales… Then I’m with you regards not having the ambition.
With that in mind… With the way we are giving up at the moment, Jan could be too late to turn it around and mid table or a shot at the play offs our best bet.
I know the floodgates are going to open…………….
So with that in mind.
Brilliant mate. I just posted something above, which I now wish I hadn’t, but the guy pissed me off !!!
I met up with Clemens from Denmark today, really great funny guy, so knowledgeable on the team, we had quite a bit of time together during the match and he is a great example of a TRUE fan. Spent a shed load of money to get here and on his own but seemed genuinely Old Gold through and through. I told him about the Millwall idea.
It wpuld be a brave guy that tried to find a poitive from todays play but I’m going to.
The Support today from the Wolves fans was amongst the best Iv’e ever witnessed in my 54 years in the Olg Gold. I expected bother when we dropped our heads on the pitch, butno, they started singing and it was like nothing Iv’e ever seen, they were funny, cutting and shut the 30000 fans up,int the last third of the game Derby fans were just gob smacked with our passion, and determination to get behind the team when at our lowest point.
I found this and thought of this Blog site.
Onwards & Upwards.
Stuff the whingers, Wolves Ay We
Great string in the blog, this one. Love the two ‘posters’ re defeat and giving a life to Wolves! On the subject of the fantastic support, amongst the messages of ‘goodwill’ from my Derby contacts, one came which just said “I thought your fans were excellent!!”. Then I had to spend the evening with a Rams fan!
Credit to Sako, Ricketts (delighted to see him back) and Henry in particular for coming right over to the fans at the end and showing their remorse at what had happened. Henry literally put his hands up; Ricketts just drooped as he walked away slowly and Sako led the way over – he just kept coming closer and closer and I think some fans wanted his shirt – his gesture suggested he didn’t think anyone would want his shirt from that game!
Regroup, review, recharge, stuff Forest (which will also delight the Rams, of course).
When i first discovered the Blog we were in the Premier League and i thought the comments then were harshly negative and without due caution to the realistic alternatives likely outcomes etc. Also thought opinion was being corralled around essentially one view point. I even started contributing under half a dozen aliases to try and balance it up a bit but the usually superbly tolerant Thomas knew they were all coming from the same IP address.
As time has passed the negativity doesnt bother me i just accept it and sometimes use it myself. Its only a fans blag i mean blog after all and the opinions and debate is welcome even if we are just a bunch of happy clappers, boo boys and transfer junkies.
Fairly upsetting obviously and this is when KJ is seriously due to steady the ship or not as the case may be…
January is a long way off if it happens
with some difficult fixtures coming up as it does look like we need rescuing
as a squad.
Confidence and wanting the ball is a real issue and so it’s down to KJ to motivate and explain how far we have come so far.And I mean so far.
Today underlines our squad weakness ..we have stated it here and some of us predicted doubts particularly about this fixture..I wonder if KJ secretly thought we could be overrun..
I refuse to admit we can’t go up..we really still can but it will be because of a criteria that have to be put in place
I’ll elaborate in my opinion later.
This could be turned into a positive.
KJ has not done himself any favours recently. His team selections are baffling especially wrt RVLP. The guy was on fire at the start of the season. Was dropped for no reason other than he put in a few tasty tackles against a strong Blackburn side! He then has been sub ever since and despite a great second half performance against Leeds culminating in a defence splitting pass in the move that got the winner, still he cannot make that starting 11! Why only KJ knows. Yet Rowe, Saville and others have been given chances and have not really delivered, not as RVLP did first few games and against Leeds. I dont know but losing the “in Kenny we trust” feeling and not just because of today’s stinking result against Derby. Gutted.
Good to hear about the little guys celebration… Thanks for the update StuWolf.
With regards to the Wolves fans still in fine voice, I read that on Twitter! Good to hear you had a voice in that!
Last season we were in a division that we deserved to be in as we were in freefall and just a complete mess the previous seasons.
The right men were appointed to take the club forward with a vision that we had not experienced before and this season (up until the last few games) we had done enough to be top – as some of the results did not match our play.
The frustration of being a Wolves fan right now, is that I – (among many other Wolves fans) are expecting better than our table position and our “current” play suggests. We had an identity of a style and play that teams wanted to try and suss out…. We seem to be losing that.
Hoping that it is just a blip and the confidence levels return soon…
Before the season began I’d have been well happy with our current position, however recent hype and KJ’s one track mind of a successful return to top flight football has everyone’s expectations at an all time high.
This result was a head leveller and showed that we are just as good/bad as all the other teams around us as they also have off days. No one is running away with an 18 point lead. 10 games and all will be looking the same as it is now – no clear leader.
Are Forest and Norwich fans as wound up as us? They appeared to be the teams that would be flying the flag for this division (along with us) 🙂 but I think we have taken the lack of a 2nd success harder as we had last seasons success propelling us.
So it’s confirmed I’m totally deluded and proud of it! In Kenny and the club I trust! I still believe we will at least make the the play offs end of the season. I’m sure we would have all been happy with that before the season kicked off but maybe I’m wrong some people are never happy. It’s no sprint It’s a marathon! These types of results are one of the reasons it makes being Wolves brilliant would I swap us for Chelski or the Arab’s in blue no thank you. COYW!!!!! Lets be F**KIN AVIN YA!!!!! Is a well known Honey badger saying, just check you tube!!!
Honet Badger.
Well that’s me booking into the Nursing home with the Mother-in-law, she’s about as Demented and deluded as a Roy Hodgson, he actually thinks he’s a football manager. I’m with you HB, we will get promoted and like PeakWolf says, we will review how we could play so badly, we will reorganise the leaky defence and we will remove the dead wood at the front of our attack and then regroup and move forward again under Steady Ken’s guidance.
We were hopeless. There is something in what 6 mins from cassidy says. We will see what kj can do.
