I think the most impressive quality this Wolves team possess is consistency of performance.
Southampton were the first side since Everton on the opening day to really disrupt their rhythm but it says a lot that 4 points were still extracted from those games.
They set their stall out and play the same every week regardless of the opposition. But when they need to dig deeper, they have the knack of finding a bit extra to get over the line. Those tandem qualities are the mark of a top side.

You’re never far from your next defeat in the Premier League so to have only suffered once in seven (in a match we probably shouldn’t have lost I might add) is mightily impressive.
Only the undefeated top three have lost on fewer occasions.
Palace
I’m never confident about a trip to Selhurst Park, despite the fact we’ve enjoyed our share of success over the years. It probably has something to do with that scarring play-off defeat in 97.
Growing up Palace always felt like the pinnacle of pacy, direct football. The type of team that scared the snot out of you and routinely beat Wolves to promotion for nearly two decades.

I look at their team now and I see similar devilment. Ayew, Townsend and most obviously Zaha are all of that ilk; players who can turn the game on their own.
They’ve had an indifferent start to the season (although it’s dreamland compared to their first 7 last year) collecting a few useful away wins at Fulham and Huddersfield, but failing to record a maximum at home, despite favourable opportunities against Newcastle and Southampton.
Bournemouth beat them with a late penalty on Monday night so they’ll be keen to right some wrongs come the weekend.
Like Wolves they don’t score or concede big numbers, so the smart money is on a low scoring encounter (prepare for egg on face).

The home end
I lifted the following from a match prediction thread on a popular Crystal Palace forum:
High flying, baying Wolves will prove a stern challenge. Think we will be happy with a point in a 1-1 draw.
A game we CAN’T lose! My Mrs and her son are Wolves and if they beat us I won’t hear the end of it. 1-1 and I’d be happy with a point. We’ve been awful lately so can’t see us winning.
I can see this one playing out like the Southampton game so 2 nil wolves.
Until we sign a striker we will lose a lot more games than we win wolves are a very good side and their confidence is high theirs no way they won’t score.
If we lose, this will be 4 home games without a win and I suspect alarm bells will be ringing amongst our supporters. Only Arsenal,Chelsea, Tottenham and Man Utd to come after Everton away !. Early season optimism appears to be evaporating and a defeat by Wolves will cause a great deal of concern.
With four games to come against top six sides,if Wolves eat us alive, our early season optimism will lie in tatters, relying once again on the equally poorly performing teams below us to help us out of a hole we have dug for ourselves.
We need to not lose this one, but I suspect we will. In the circumstances, a draw would be a great result.
Wolves
I’m putting Traore in the team this weekend, just because I’m tired of seeing the same graphic.

I think I’m right in saying Wolves will break the record for picking the same team in consecutive Premier League matches if we’re unchanged for the 8th game running.
And Costa probably will play, which I’m certainly not upset about. We look more balanced and controlled with him in the side, with Traore bringing the chaos when required.
It’s great to have Cavaleiro in reserve too with plenty of choice across the front line if Nuno needs to change the dynamic of the game – as he did against Southampton.
Much will come down to how well we can contain their attack and Zaha in particular. Balls down that corridor between the back three and wingbacks could be problematic. We don’t want him in those pockets of space in and around the penalty area.
The poll
Predictions
Well done to vicsmith who has the outright lead in the Prediction League table at the end of Gameweek 7.
I would say this is the toughest season in the history of the competition to accrue points, with seemingly any result possible in any game so hats off to those of you in the upper echelons.
I’ve had a few people contact me since the start of the season asking me to review their scores as they feel the table doesn’t accurately display their tally. In every instance it’s been down to incorrect input, either not putting the scores in the stipulated boxes or maintaining a consistent email address for all predictions.
I’m happy to try and correct these issues manually, but please, please, please take care when entering the info as it saves me the admin.
As always, if you’d like to join in, you can do so by entering your prediction for the game in the comment section below, which is where you’ll read my forecast.
Up The Wolves!

I think we’re due that ‘back to earth’ performance at some point. Not for any reason in particular, just because you can’t always have it your own way in such a competitive environment. It looked like it was going to be last weekend, so credit to the lads for hanging in and conjuring up a result.
Palace are in a difficult moment though and I think Wolves are capable of causing them real frustration. If we keep Zaha quiet I feel like we could win this one through sheer organisation.
If we take the game to Palace and get an early goal , should be ok . Someone have a quiet word with Bennett, Coady & Bolly – when you get the chance kick Zaha – HARD !
Same tactics adopted by Watford and it worked
I predict a Wolves win with Jota to score his first goal – COYW
I do fancy us to win but can’t see them not scoring in 4 consecutive home games so I’ll take four points from the next two thank you very much
Costa has to start for me
Jota to score the equaliser
Utw
I think this is the toughest of our next 3 games tbh, but I still feel we’ve got enough to unlock most if not all defences, #wegoagain
I cannot see anything but another 2 -0 win. Palace were pedestrian against Bournemouth and I do not see Patricio getting his hands too dirty.
A very tricky game ….as has already been stated ….but such is the momentum we have combined with the frailty they possess at home we can win this 2-0
We need to give Hennessey a bad back from bending over, picking the ball out of his net umpteen times.
Will never forgive or forget his attitude, what seems light years ago, not wanting to play.
Fuck him.
Saha is a one trick pony, more interested in his hairstyle.
Bentecke is a has been, and poor old Woy is up there at top table with the other dinosaur managers.
Palace should have been relegated last season, and are going to be in that mix again this year.
Cannot see anything but a Wanderers win this weekend.
Cabbage for Brucie??
Fowb
Totally agree, Clive. What Hennessy did then still sticks in the craw (wherever that is).
It’s a Chinese claw
No it’s not ….. you plick.
I see this game being our hardest tbh. And because I despise Woy it will be inevitable that we lose. So:
One Wolves game burnt into my psyche took place in November 1982 – and I wasn’t even there! I was living in London but couldn’t go to Crystal Palace. It was with a mixture of joy and guilt that I saw the Wolves team coach come round the corner and on to Oxford Street en route to Selhurst Park. Wolves won 4-3.
I’m not expecting such a goal-fest this time around but I’d like to think we can take at least a point. I certainly hope that Jota is more tuned in than last Saturday, when he seemed to be off the boil.
A difficult one, bit hey, they all are in this league.
No reason for our great start to the season not to continue. We will slip up somewhere along the line but l don’t think it will be tomorrow. Was hoping to get to the match but tickets all sold out by the time l could enter the frey.
I agree.
Don’t think it will be tomorrow!!!
Maybe not Saturday either.
It’s just that l can’t wait for the matches to come along these days Clive.
The older you get the quicker the days go by.
It seems like it was only yesterday it was Wednesday!
Palace certainly won’t be pushovers, they need to start winning at home to really kick off their season. I see a tough afternoon that may be a scrappy affair. We’ve seen in games this season and last we’re not afraid to play this game and we can match teams physically. A point away Saturday, followed up by 4-6 points against Watford/Brighton makes for a great October!
I can see a good result coming at Selhurst Park, they shouldn’t have anywhere near enough firepower to beat us. I think our back to earth game will come at the Amex, not an easy ground to get a result at all.
Time to give Jota a rest????? – Just asking.
I think this will be a difficult game with patches where Palace will be on top and putting us under the cosh. But I think we will see that through and come put the other side.
2-1 Wolves. Jiminez and Boly to score.
I used to respect Palace, as stated above they played direct, fast and fluid football, it used to be nailed on defeat there.
But, that was then, this is now.
New Wolves to sneak it, but I fancy a high score on Saturday, (by the way, what a stupid day to play football on) and the coach leaves at 9 am to get there, middle of the bleedin night.
Palace 0
Wolves 3
Congrats to Doherty and Jonny for their call up to the internationals.
A draw wouldn’t be a bad result, but hopefully we can keep the ball rolling. Would have loved to be at the game, which is one of the more local fixtures to me, but tickets are selling out before I’m getting a chance. I can’t complain though…even if I can say “I saw us lose away at Crawley on a Tuesday night in League One.” ?
Same here Bagsy, I remember that night only too well.
Jen de Wolf and myself were there that night, got well and truly spanked even though it was 1-0, they shat all over us.
That’s what happened without Nuno.
International call ups aplenty today. Doc in the ROI squad, Jonny in the Spain squad and Costa in the Portugal squad (along with Neves and Patricio but looks like they might have moved on from Moutinho which is fine for us). Just waiting for Coady to be named in the England squad now…the man deserves it.
Tough games coming up but we’re looking a better team than any of Palace, Watford or Brighton and I even fancy us against Spurs. Bring them all on and let’s see how we measure up!
Think this will be our hardest game of the campaign so far not many goals but we will edge it.
Expecting a physical game but we have enough muscle and grit in our back-line to handle them. The usual flair flowing up through Neves & Moutinho will keep their crowd quiet . Excited to have Cav back in the team, now we are almost at full strength and once his match fitness is restored we will batter someone soon…Wolves win…
Time to redecorate the palace in old gold and black gloss finish.
Agree with some of the other posters, Diogo to get a goal .
COYW!!!
A difficult one to predict. But aren’t they all.
As proved by my rather pathetic 42nd position in the prediction table.
I admire what Woy has done for the Palace and I certainly rate Zaha and to a lesser extent, Townsend.
But do I admire and rate them as much as Nuno and the rest of the Wolf Pack?
NO is the short answer.
I expect a win.
PS. And I agree with the slightly less than complimentary remarks that have been made about Hennessey.
A right old Tonka!
Excellent blog as ever Thomas.
Fully expect an unchanged XI but if Cav or Traore were to come in, then Jota would be the man to drop out.
Whilst still not at his best, Costa has certainly stepped it up at the start of this season. His Portugal call-up will hopefully see him full of confidence on Saturday.
I just hope Jota gets back to his old self. When he’s running/dribbling at defenders, they’re terrified, just like the first 20 mins v Southampton.
If we can get on the front foot early on at Palace and deal with Zaha’s pace, we’ll be fine.
**IMPORTANT REQUEST**
I posted this previously, but no joy yet. My two sons (early 20s) are desperate for tickets to Crystal Palace this week. Can anyone assist or advise how they can get them?
Context – Australian family, lifelong Wolves supporters, long time Blog member (including past Prediction League winner!). Have inculcated the way of the Wolves into my kids, who follow avidly. They are currently travelling in Europe and will be in London next week – desperately want to get to their first live Wolves game.
(Of course, the boys are happy to pay for their tickets and I will shout a beer or two for whoever can provide them!)
Ash, you should contact the club direct, I’m sure if they were to know of their plight they would find tickets from somewhere. It’s gotta be worth a try. Good look anyway.
Thanks, will get them to try that.
The boys are also keen to meet up with Wolves supporters at a pub on their way to the ground – which pubs are recommended?
No joy from the club – couldn’t help
Congratulations to Doc, Jonny and our Portuguese trio for international call ups. Anyone still miss Barry Douglas?
Onto Palace. Woy saved them from welegation last season. They’re still not the good Palace team most of us remember. They’re underachieving, given the quality they have. Let’s hope it stays that way. I think we will be unchanged again, with Traore and Cav being the impact super-subs. Jota badly needs a goal to get him going again after his exploits last season. Jiminiz has a hat trick in him one of these days soon. I can’t see a clean sheet but we will outscore them. 2-1.
Forgot the score in the right box.
I find it hard to predict the result of this game, especially as our boys seem to have the habit of not losing firmly established in their team makeup. Keeping Zaha quiet is, of course, the key and if we do, we are in with a good chance. But, what a player he is, despite the infamous whinge about protection. We have our fair share of players being used for kicking practice! Hard game but I’ll go with the lads, despite being due a set back; a 2-1 win?
Never an easy game. But what the heck. Wolves winning of course as the international call ups for some of the players will give them a lift
Bouyed by all of the international call ups, I predict a 1-3 victory for us.
Tough game. I am going for a stalemate.
First things first well done to jonny and Costa for international recognition, secondly this will be the first palace/ Wimbledon/ Charlton game at selhurst I have missed and there have been a few because of a wedding so bit gutted
Been lots of good and bad memories over the years
Play off defeat palace
Thomas later winner palace
Midweek 2 0 victory to go top palace
10 thousand wolves fans v dons fa cup only 2 thousand home fans only dons
Mixed results v Charlton over the years
Palace at home are half decent so going for a score draw in this one keep same team again
Cmon boys
Another potential bananaskin in that Roy will try to emulate Southampton’s second half and choke our midfield. However our all round organisation at the back closing down danger if after an odd lapse has improved by the game. Draw for me, Costa and Jota to start and with the strong bench we might snatch it. Any update on ‘Cabbage-gate’ at Villa – no sympathy from us!
Crystal Palace v Wolves – in an Austin Allegro
In February 1979 Wolves visited Selhurst Park for a FA Cup 5th round tie played on a Monday evening (I think) due to snowy weather disrupting the 4th round matches across the country and creating a backlog of fixtures.
Following a victory over Arsenal the previous Saturday a mate volunteered to drive 4 of us to South London – problem is he drove an Austin Allegro….Please allow me to explain..
Way back in the 1970’s British industry in general and the automotive sector in particular were known as the “sick man of Europe”. The car industry was bedeviled with strikes with British Leyland among the worst affected as Communist Party member Derek “Red Robbo” Robinson virtually brought the company to its knees with a series of unofficial strikes (show of hands in the car park or the local park across the road) for very spurious reasons. Eventually late in 1979 Robinson was sacked and here is the rub – only 600 voted for strike action to prevent his sacking whilst 14,000 wanted him gone. Live by the sword and so on. Mind you the weak management at Leyland also had to accept some responsibility for the mess the company found itself in.
By that time however time UK car production was a joke – Leyland produced one car for every three turned out by Japanese and German car producers and in general the competition manufactured vehicles of much better quality and reliability. Worst of all were three models in particular – Austin Allegro, Austin Maxi and Morris Marina – with the Allegro and Marina designated as in the top 10 of worst cars worldwide assembled in the 1970’s. We all knew of neighbours or friends or friends of friends who worked at Longbridge. The nickname of the night shift was “workers playtime” which says it all. Even hard left agitators of my acquaintance admitted that some of the walkouts were “ridiculous” as Robinson oversaw 523 strikes in about 7 years and the Allegro was nominated “the worst car ever built”. Even me as a total non-petrol head knew of its reputation.
Mrs Thatcher was elected in 1979 on a ticket to “sort out the bloody unions” which she eventually managed after some right scuffles and brawls. So with great trepidation and the distinct possibility that this British Leyland wreck would break down before we reached the outskirts of Wolverhampton we set off for Crystal Palace – a dreadful place to get to today, never mind 40 years ago with no M25 etc, and we had to drive right through Central London and out the other side with an ancient A to Z. “Chug, chug, chug, splutter, splutter, chug, chug, and splutter” went the 1300CC engine with a pitiful whine when we exceeded 45 MPH. The windscreen wipers had three speeds – slow and slower then stop for a rest (good job it did not snow) and the exhaust sounded like my arse after 8 pints and a vindaloo. We could watch the rust creep as we drove along with the driver hanging on grimly to the oblong shaped steering wheel as the car had a mind of its own.
A few hours/days/weeks later we parked up at Selhurst Park and went to find an eatery (Wimpy or similar) and then headed off to the pub.
Wolves won a scrappy game 1-0 with a goal by Martin Patching and went through to face Shrewsbury Town in the 6th Round (with Graham Turner playing for the Shrews). I also seem to recall Norman Bell breaking his leg at Palace but our main concern was not the Palace fans coming round for a ruck after the final whistle but getting home in the reviled Allegro. This we did – eventually, many hours later – in one piece and without having to call out the AA or RAC.
On the journey home our Sunday morning goalkeeper (who shall remain nameless) had a party trick – setting fire to his nether winds. Fuelled by egg burger and chips from Wimpy and a good few pints of London Pride he lifted his arse and one of us struck and match and BINGO the nether wind burned with a blue lambert flame. This proceeded to singe his pubes and his jeans but the laughter was so hysterical the driver came within a whisker of losing it altogether as he was crying at these antics.
That was my first visit to Selhurst Park since that fateful day in May 1967 when we lost 4-1 and handed the old second division title to Coventry City. A truly awkward place to get to irrespective of which way you approach it – after 1979 any future trips I went by train from either London Bridge or Victoria Stations.
Wolves beat Shrewsbury but lost to Arsenal in the semi-final at Villa Park where our old mate Alan Sunderland scored one of the goals.
A confession – at that time I also had a Leyland car for 2 years or so and drove around 75,000 business miles. It was a Morris Marina 1.8CC and do you know something? It never let me down. So you see I was the lucky one – mine was not built on a Monday or Friday or in the middle of a strike.
Enjoy the game at Selhurst Park bloggers and you may well be in the company of fellow West Midlanders if you are travelling to Palace from London Bridge by over ground. Villa play at Millwall which is one the same line.
Sorry if this week’s piece has little to do with football but that’s how I recall early trips to the Palace. Must do better for Watford…..
BOG
Forecast 2-0 to Wolves.
I can match that, BOG.
About the same time, I was working for Joseph Ash and Co in Brum, and they gave me a shit brown Allegro as a company car.
One Saturday, four of us were off to watch Wolves play at Everton. I dont remember two of my fellow travellers, but one was my ex girlfriend’s brother, known as Toad.
Anyway, halfway up the M6 we heard this horrible noise from the back end and next thing the whole stub axle, wheel and everything, came flying past us, bounced a few times and then cleared the fence and disappeared into some field, never to be seen again.
Of course we never got to the match.
To rub salt in the Allegro wound, they gave me a blue Marina as a replacement.
Yes, those cars were crap!
Bloody hell Clive – was that Ash the galvanisers by any chance.?
From time to time Joseph Ash used to galvanise metal for us – must be the same company.
Great to hear of another Allegro experience – yes those cars were shit.
I started working at LandRover in 1978 when it was still under the British Leyland umbrella.
At the same time Michael Edwards was brought in and downsized the group from 80,000 staff to 40,000 staff.
My first week at work I had to walk past a picket line to get in at Solihull.
The resultant Land Rover group went from strength to strength and hopefully will continue in the future.
However my favourite car was the Allegro and I loved the square steering wheel!!
The square steering wheel was a first for cars … come to think of it ..a last also.
Who on this planet came up with that nugget…
Some square headed designer!!!
The problem was some of them drove as if they had 5 square wheels
A man with experience of Leyland – you must have a few tales.
I clean forgot about the involvement of Michael Edwards during that period. Glad you made it past the pickets – they had absolutely no right in a democracy to prevent anyone going to work and from earning a wage.
Yes Land Rover have gone from strength to strength which is good to see particularly with the competition on 4×4 etc.
Watched the palace v cheatmouth game and I thought they were both shit
We will win at palace on Saturday and I shall be there to see it
Thomas can you correct the prediction league for BARDWolf?
My mistake I used a different email account for the Southampton prediction, so there are two entries for BARDWolf in the prediction table.
It is important as it would be me joint fourth.
I think this one will be a well earned draw from the counter attacking Hodgson.
Went for 4-0 to us last week and could so easily have been right. Watched extended highlights and if we can win 2-0 playing like that I’m going for the one in between as we will improve. COYW.
De ja poo,
Sorry Mildenhall, but I’m going to have to steal this. Funny as Feck.
My little canary fell off the perch & broke it’s leg the other day.
So I splinted his legs with two matches.
When he realised he could walk again.
You should have seen his little face light up….
Stu Wolf, stealing yours right back at you. Did you notice my post got 2 dislikes! Don’t know if they were for the post or the joke!
ROY’S NOT FEELING CONFIDENT…
We do get some PC and cucumber sarnie types visiting from time to time. 🙁 🙁 🙁
I loved it, right up my alley.
A place I have always hated going to by coach so booked an early train for this one. Just discovered Villa at Millwall and Coventry at Charlton so should make for an interesting journey home. Hope we will be celebrating a victory 2-0 wolves
Stopping Zaha will be the key. Without him they are a fairly ordinary side. Assuming Costa is fit I expect the same side again with Traore and Cav causing chaos late on.
My heart says away win but my head says a draw – going with the head.
Roy’s no mug and will have studied the Southampton blue print. But like them they have no answer to Traore, Cav and our wing backs. Got to fancy Helder to be on song too.
We will go in level at 1-1 but once again win it in the final quarter.
A tough one, and stats would point towards us missing a step on this one, but a win sure would be sweet before the break. Let’s keep winning! It sure lifts my weekend!
Go Wolves!
This will be a tough game but we have enough to edge it! Will be absolutely over the moon if we win this going into the International break. More LIQUID football please!
A return to the 1970s with a trip to old scruffy Selhurst Park.
Happy with a draw away from home but with Nunos’ boys it would not surprise anyone if we won the game.
Oh and smash Zaha early on.
Sooner or later our run of clean sheets will come to an end ….and we will concede a penalty. My prediction is at Selhurst Park. So that’s one for Palace.
Can we go 90 minutes without scoring? No. But more than one? maybe not..so there’s the forecast. Lots of bloggers thinking the same way it seems
That Eagle on the Palace badge looks a bit scary to me. The bloody thing looks likely to swoop down on your tray of burger and chips on the way to the ground. Well I have got a message for that Eagle. Jolly well go away or I will tell my mom. And you wouldn’t like that at all let me tell you. So be warned. I seem to remember a seagull attacking a post man in Cornwall once so it can happen. But the Eagle should beware. The Wolf is back in town for the first time in a long while. Stronger and bigger this time. Not to be trifled with. The last time the Wolf met Roy Hodgson it was the beginning of the end. A hard to take 5-1 disaster against the old enemy. One thing led to another and the Wolf lay beaten. Licking his wounds. Weary. Worn. In the third tier. But he has recovered and returned. Snarling. Eager to stamp authority and supremacy. He remembered that day against the old enemy. Against Roy Hodgson and he returns to put that right. And he will. And then he will wait for the old enemy to return. And wait. But for now The Wolf 2 The Eagle 1.
Got the Southampton result totally wrong (no problem there) That zaha is a great player and as already stated on here, we must stop him playing to stand any chance of a result. Keep waiting for the wheels to come off but not in this game besides we owe Mr Don’t want to play today.
Saha is up against Bennet, so for the worriers out there…stop being silly: Nothing, that’s NOTHING gets through Bennet.
As to the score, I’m sticking to 2-1, who knows, it might even happen one day, but while we keep winning I’m happy to slip down the prediction league (that’s if I ever went up the damn thing!)
Again I’m wishing my life away. Can’t get enough o these Wunderbar Wolves
UTW
We can’t keep winning all the time. Can we?
Probably not.
Hard earned draw for me and trying to find a wifi connection to listen in down here in Eilat Israel. Little lobo Jota to get back on the goal trail.
COMBs!
I’ve no doubt our strong and stable defence will shut Zaha out. We’ll win 2-0
The team is performing so well that I am happy to predict another victory. Challenge is trying to get the score right! I like to keep the excitement alive as long as possible so will allow Palace to score one – but then will we get two or three? Since Wolves are still settling in – I think I will stay on the conservative side.
So
I see Lawro has predicted that Crystal Palace will beat us 2-0.
That’s a relief!
He’s one of the few people worse at predictions than me.
Mmm…very tricky game this week and we’re still struggling to score I think. Zaha is a real danger for any team too so I’m expecting Palace to score and their home advantage may prove decisive.
We might get a draw, but I’ve a sneaky feeling that Zaha might nick a late winner. I’d like to see Costa and Cavaleiro start as I think that Jota is still not at his best. Traore should still be brought on as an impact sub I reckon.
2-1 for Palace for me, the old pessimist as per usual!
Palace have had the best run for fixtures so far this year, with Liverpool being the only team of note they have played, and they touched them up easily. Can’t see them troubling the Wolves machine at this point.
A tough one but I think we’ll win it.
(Another London match where it’s a sell-out before it’s “my turn” – and I used to be able to get to them all. Never mind, it’s a reunion of most of the family for the Watford game – can’t wait!)
Who will emerge triumphatic as Roy Hodgepodge’s Eaglemen welcome Nono Santa’s Wolfmen to Sellars Park?
I’m backing the newly promotioned Wolfs, because they’re on a Megnificent runs right now and boast arguabubbly the tightest backside in the tabletop.
Palace deep end too much on the influenzal Wilf Saha, so if Santa’s Wolfs can shutter him out then another win really is up for grubs. Cum on u Wolves, Bloody wolves aye we ain’t we???
Jimmy nez with 2 and ruben nevilles with the other
Gibraltar, not being funny but do you usually post when you get back from the pub ?
Bloody predictive text!!
Well! Woy won’t win. We Wolves will win. Wonderful.
Time to avenge the last time we met Woy – I still feel the pain.
I rate Zaha but I used to rate Sanchez & we all saw Boly take him out his pocket at the end at OT
Palace to get a consolation in the last minute but all over by then.
They’ve just doubled my wages, even though we went out of the World cup in the early stages. Take the Piss out of my ears now, you trolls ????
I’m thinking a 1-1 tie is most likely, but seeing as I predicted a win almost every game last season, I don’t see a reason to change it this season. I really hope Costa or Jota are on the scoresheet this game, both could use a little confidence in front of goal.
I forsee a tonking. This is the game where it all comes together. Definitely.
We’re going to be awesome, and they are going to fall apart.
Or maybe not, but I’m getting so confident that I can’t predict anything but a cricket score ;0)
This will be a tough one, but we should have enough to continue our good run. We will just edge it with Bonatini to come on and get the winning goal he so desparately needs to boost his confidence.
COYW
As everyone has suggested – Saha will be the danger man. I can still see us sneaking a result and making people sit up even more and take notice.
This is usually a banana skin game for us, but I’m predicting a 3-1 win.
Palace are no mugs but Wolves are just getting better and better.
Scrappy win last week and will probably have to play the same at Palace, a draw seems most likely here. 1-1
A good side on paper Palace with some dangerous players but don’t always get the results for whatever reason. Still a tough game though and i’d happily take a draw at kick off.
If the team could just finish of those ongoing dominating build ups with the ball in the back of the net, it should be a no contest
I think this is the week Wolves might struggle slightly on the back of two excellent home wins. I predict a tight game, as do many, but another point going in to the international break would do just fine.
Palace have failed to score at home in the Prem this season, not good at all. Wolves are in a confident mood and are more than capable of getting a result there. I am hoping that Wolves come out on top but I believe a draw is the more likely outcome.
1-1 it is then
Onward’s & Upwards
🙂
Palace are a one man team and the fact that our ryan will keep zaha out by the corner flag for 90 minutes will put paid to them scoring.
Got a feeling jota may be benched for this with cav starting.
I hope the ref is on form in case they start the rough stuff on our midfield superstars.
You never know when we will score or who will score it but this could be the one where they all go in.
We are due a big dose of good fortune to match all the hard work.
just found steve bruce s picture on the net
Cabbage patch doll?
Boly and Jonny will have to watch out for Wan Bissaka as he has pace to burn, got him and Zaha in my fantasy football team along with 6 Wolves players of course.
I appreciate that Zaha is a real danger but looking at Palace’s defence and midfield I don’t see anything particularly worrying. In fact I’d say that defensively they look quite weak, so as long as we can contain Woy’s counter-attacks we should be ok.
Late to check in this week – can’t remember all these bloggers in previous years! Anyway same result as last week 2-0 Wolves.
It’s not Palace I’m worried about – it’s Zaha. If we can sneak a goal amongst our many shots blocked or not on target, we can win this one and then really get the top boys looking out for us. Here hoping Raul will set up any of our players to hammer the ball in the net after receiving a pass from Doc (again). Maybe even Nev.
Last week I got the margin right but the score wrong, so I’m trying again this week. I know CP have danger men, but so do we. Ours are backed up by a sound system and a squad that know what they need to do at all times, so I can see us going into the break with a flourish. [I typed that as ‘fourish’ so am wondering whether to increase my forecast – perhaps not 🙂 ]
Not confident about a trip to Selhurst ..
The lads are settled and confidence is high. Will be a tight affair until we pop the first goal. Then the game will open up. #FWAW
Zaha can be contained but it still might be a tricky one and I don’t want to tempt fate or jinx anything.
I am abroad for this one 🙁 will be hunched over a laptop somewhere near Barcelona cheering on the boys.
Will have to do Palace away next season.
I do remember sitting on a hot sunny day on the grass slope at Selhurst Park in 1967 seeing Wolves go down 4-1, Hope this not repeated ! Still hoping for a Traore start
Lots of goals 2-2
Anything to do with Edgar Broughton??
yes, saw them at the Wake Arms , Epping in late 60s, from the Wasa Wasa album
an amazing track
see they are still going !
Currently enjoying the mountains and sunshine of Andalusia but still thinking of Wolves. Hoping to find a bar showing the game tomorrow. Expecting a narrow win.
Looking forward to the match, not looking forward to the journey.
Should be a better journey on the way back though with another 3 points.
Just waiting for the run to come to an end, I am a Wolves fan after all!! I will be quite happy with a draw, so that’s what I’m plumping for.
A stonking good win last weekend,so why can’t we continue with another win tomorrow
at palace,
We all know palace have good players but so do we,and we fear no one in this league, but we are playing well, but there’s still room for improvement , we all hope to win every game but games are difficult in this league but we are improving and we’ll score more goals I’m sure.If we can take our chances I’m sure the 3 points are coming home.
UTW FOWM.Wolves Ay we.
I’ve seen 2 or 3 Palace games on tv this season and they have impressed me, even though not getting the results their play has deserved.
Zaha is the main danger, but if you can keep him quiet the game is there for the taking. I expect our defence to keep him quiet.
Nuno to pick the same starting 11, though Cavaleiro must be close to a call up.
Tough game to call, this one. But I have my experience of supporting Wolves to draw on.
We are on a run of three wins outta four. Palace ain’t won at home all season.
We have one of the best defensive records in the league. Palace ain’t scored at home all season.
We are well clear of them in the league and many pundits fancy us to get the three points on offer.
Nuno and Big Willy are nominated for Manager and Player of the Month awards.
All is looking rosy but we should, of course, realise that our heroes, historically, always contrive to screw it up when you least expect it. When all the stars are aligned for a handsome victory, Wolves always somehow draw a cloud across the sky and plunge their fans into darkness.
But that was then….and this is now.
I’ll stick with my usual prediction as it’s getting results – well not for me but for team & that’s more important!
Hoping for another 3 points.
COYW
Difficult to call challenge.
I often think that Woy has the Indian sign over us, and there can be no doubt that he’s a wily old dog, and a good tactician… which imo means that he will have done his homework on how best to stifle our gameplan.
Tomorrow’s referee is Michael Oliver..so one of the better ones …but let’s make judgement on that at 5pm post match.
I’m pretty sure it will be a tight affair so I’m going for a creditable draw.
What we see is what we get, thats the way its been for donkeys years. When we were crap we were crap. What are we seeing now, another great win.
No reason for our unbeaten run not to continue, hoping for another win, COMB!
Look at the Palace team and, apart from Zaha, try and pick a player good enough to get in our team. I can’t see one.
Selhurst Park has been a tough ground to visit since they got promoted, but I think I’m right in saying they’ve not scored at home yet this season. Assuming they don’t get an early goal that intense fervour from the stands may well turn into tuts and groans, at which point we’ve already won.
Forget kicking Zaha, we’ll just keep our shape till he realises he’s got no chance of scoring, and we’ll pick ’em off on the break.
2-0 the lads, again.
Loving every minute of our great play this season… but due that hiccup, bump in the road, off day, bad luck, terrible decision or something of that ilk.
My phone isn’t to be trusted at present to connect to the job’s wi-fi, so just a quick prediction before I leave for my shift.
Ok first away game of the season for me and I’m confident the lads are going to cheers us up on a wet shitty day in south London. One nil to us
I think this will be a difficult one but I believe we’ll scrape through.
Wolves official have launched an app for all mobile devices, on first look it’s quite tidy and they will add to it every month.
Follow the link below to load it up.

I agree Stu, looks like a useful app. Love the fact that all info, twitter etc in 1 place now. Brilliant from Wolves.
Thanks for the Heads-up Stu 🙂
Looks like they have done a decent job with the app.
My wife, daughter, and grandson are flying to Majorca today.
Me? Staying here. Living in Telford, working in Wolverhampton.
But at least no one’s at home, moaning at me when I shout out as the goals flow in.
Be safe all you people travelling by train as wolves villa and coventry are all in london today and all 3pm kick offs so euston could be a bit tasty for the journey home.
Got to be close to a change surely but because of Costa and Jota tactical discipline I expect the same 11. Cav & Adama are great to bring on when the game is a bit more open
If we can keep Zaha quiet should be no problem as fas as I can see.
Same team plase.
A difficult game to predict and possible scores that come to mind are 1-1 and a 2-1 victory.
Not sure if I’m relying on my head or my heart but I’m going for the win (again).
Away from home I’d always take a point and I think that’s what we’ll get. Costa to get his first goal of the season today
It’s about time for that 2-1 win to come up. I’ve been predicting for weeks now
I’m ere
I’m in south london
I’m gooin again!
Zaha?
Ha-ha, you and palace don’t know whats coming your way.
You re facing the immovable object -our back four, the unbeatable Patricio and the unstoppable Traore.
Time to show them BBC pundits how good we are (Lawrenson, Lineker and that fat Garth Crooks!)
we am wolves aye we!
Carl, my son, always thinking about you
Hope for a win but accept a draw so
Just about made it in the morning me, for me a tough game if take a draw but I’m gonna plump for a win
We’re Wolverhampton!
We’re on our way back!!!!!!
This team continues to delight and amaze. Who cares that I got my forecast wrong.
Wolves aye we!
Lawro, call yourself a pundit?
Better call yourself a taxi mate.
Doog,
All ex-scousers dooh like us cus we beat um with Stearman and they cor forgiv us!
Lawro
McMenemummy
etc….
But they’ll be sheetin it come the last game of the season if they a point for the title!
LMFRO
What was that line?
Palace never lose when Zaha plays.
Yeah right.
They STILL haven’t scored at home.
And we had yet another different scorer for us today.
Jimenez with his third assist in three games.
7th in the table for at least two weeks.
Watford’s bubble well and truly bost, and they must be dreading their next Prem fixture.
Cor wait.
Shit eatin’ grin time in Texas…………………………again!!
Well, I certainly got that wrong, but who cares. This team can beat anyone, anywhere, they are awesome. Watched the game on hesgoal.com and was once again happy, clear picture, no buffering.
7th? Bloody hell, who would have thunk it!
If I type that into the Google bar on my TV will it be that simple to watch??
Highlight of the day after Doherty’s goal, then Cav’s shot off the bar was, the 12th man singing,
“Mind the gap, mind the gap, Man Utd,
Mind the gap, mind the gap we say.
Mind the gap, mind the gap, Man utd.
It’s getting wider every feckin day”
Epic fans on the terraces today, the noise was incesent, unending and feckin LOUD.
Watched the game, buffering, in Andalusian bar but still enjoyed efficient win. Really posting to say 2 correct predictions on the bounce. That’s the way to do it Lawro. Get in Wolves.
I will say this. I have been critical of Diogo but he had a couple of nice passes that should have resulted in assists.
A great English saying springs to mind
EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY
