To anyone outside Molineux with a shorthand pad and pen, all this was part of the script.

To every single fan of gold and black persuasion who knew what a toxic bombsite this club had become, securing promotion with four games remaining is nothing short of a miracle.
Kenny Jackett and your wonderful young squad of history makers, we salute you.
Most pundits – and a fair few Wolves fans too – had us down to walk League One on the assumption that we were too good to be in League One in the first place.
Quite how we were going to do it was never explained however, with the names Ricketts, McDonald, Jacobs, Golbourne, Henry and Dicko on the tip of nobody’s tongue.
Until our unassuming manager parked up in Waterloo Road with an almighty new broom in the boot, none of this would have been possible, however much it was part of the script in the eyes of every journalist.
Well done Kenny for a miraculous on-field achievement, featuring gargantuan rift bridging skills between fans and club and a swelling sense of pride that I once feared we’d never feel again.
Yes, a club like ours should be getting out of this league but with such apathy, failure and downright poison on our books, our pre-Jackett team would have continued to shame in division three.
Where last season’s double dip losers created history for all the wrong reasons, this vibrant young side have flipped it on its head for all the right ones.
Our promotion clinching win at Gresty Road was ultimately processional and featured the most appropriate name on the scoresheet – Kevin McDonald.
The figurehead, talisman and driving force behind this all-conquering side broke the deadlock with a deflected shot on the stroke of half time and if it didn’t kill off the game, then Chuks Aneke’s off-the-ball red card moments later almost certainly did.
Like Stevenage and Shrewsbury before this, another relegation threatened side made life difficult for us, but with typical care in possession and a numerical advantage to boot, the result was never in doubt.
Not least when David Edwards scored a near customary goal from the edge of the box to make it 2-0 – his fourth in six.
And so, 49 weeks after going down at Brighton in a second successive relegation, we can enjoy a well-earned party as the feel-good factor grows.
That we can bask in it for a further four fixtures is the most fitting thing of all. Kenny Jackett should savour every minute.

Change at Crewe for the Championship, Hallelujah!
Well done the lads! Well done Kenny! Fantastic! Very proud here. Up we go with 4 games to spare. We’ve played attractive football pretty much all season, scoring freely and hardly conceding. Incredible turnaround considering the years beforehand.
Let’s get to 100 points now …
Fantastic achievement Kenny and the boys. We were very unlucky to sold too out of the Championship with the points we had last season, and clearly were “too big” for League 1 but, as stated here, making promotion a reality is a whole other story. Onwards and upwards the Mighty Gold and Black!
Fantastic result and a fantastic season. So many wins, so many clean sheets, so many players committed to the shirt and playing for the fans. I’ve almost forgotten the last 2 miserable seasons and am looking forward to tearing the Championship apart next season. 100 points would be nice too but don’t want to be too greedy, this is already an historically successful season. We’ll done Wolves.
Thank God we are out of this league..
..Fantastic.
After reeling from the double drop the future does now look very different indeed..
KJ has created a team that should move fast forward in the championship too…are we good enough to do this again ?
I think so ..with eusabio in the sidelines and an apparant big name being tracked even if England get knocked out of the World Cup,football and the new season looks bright..
I hope these next four games will be played with less pressure and I bet that we win the title ..
I’m just relieved…
Up the Wolves
Marvelous, marvelous, marvelous!
I would like to congratulate Kenny Jackett, the current set of players who achieved this, and the fans who supported them every step of the way. Congratulations and well deserved celebrations are in order. Kenny Jackett was handed a dog’s dinner for a team at the start of the season and he has managed to transform it to a promotion winning team, and hopefully, soon, the championship; an achievement I wasn’t sure we could achieve at the start of the season. Well done Kenny and team!
Note I choose my words carefully in who I congratulate: Kenny, the current players and the fans. I still hold Morgan, Moxey and some of the previous set of players accountable for landing us in this division – a place we should never have been in the first place. Morgan and Moxey have a lot of work still to do to earn redemption in my books: they need to support Kenny to strengthen for the year ahead. Our forward line is still not right for the Championship and there is much work remaining for next year. I hope we can all count on their support for Kenny to guide us to another promotion next year!
But meantime, for today, we celebrate! We celebrate the success of the hard work of an honest, shrewd manager, a hungry young set of players, and a loyal set of fans who come hell or high water, will be Wolves forever.
Go(ne up) Wolves!!
Agree with all your points but after a catalogue of fuck up’s Morgan and Moxey have chose KJ to dig us out of this mess and I believe they do deserve some credit for that at least.
You make a fair point. Although personally I think he just bought cheap again and got lucky. 🙂 Let’s face it, none of us knew much about Jackett at first. He could have turned out to be another Saunders. I think Morgan’s real intent will be shown over the next summer with how he supports KJ to strengthen … let’s see what happens. Fingers crossed.
after two years of misery ,proud to be a wolves fan again .well done lads ,well done king kenny party time in wolvo .wolves ay we loud and proud
up ay we !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic. I for one feared two or three seasons in Div1, but KJ has worked miracles and is easily the Football League manager of the season. Taking a bankrupt team, clearing out, adding hungry youngsters and breaking records all along the way, what more could you ask? Looking forward to next season’s challenges, though there will be tougher games.
Absolutely chuffed to bits, after Brighton I seriously didn’t want to entertain this league and the mugs who ran our club, and upon appointing KJ I again thought things would go from bad to worse, BUT, the 2 M’s at least got something right, in KJ we have a proud man and a clever manager who always seems to have a plan B and plan C should things not be going right ( Arsene Wenger take note), we also now have a young and hungry team and a support base back onside….the Championship will be tough but we all now know what can happen with everyone pulling in the same direction…a few beers tonight me thinks!!
Also, a thank you to Thomas and Ben for another great seasons read!
UTW!
Two very happy people in our household tonight. I have a confession to make. Every time we win I cook dinner for the wife. Well chaps we have to keep them happy somehow, don’t we?
Congratulations to Mr. Jackett and all his staff for a wonderful Wolves year, and it’s not over yet!
I look forward to the next three weeks, the League trophy, the “Meet” and the season ahead.
Thank you Thomas and Ben and fellow bloggers for providing us all with our fix of football, it sure preserves my sanity.
Tears of happiness flowing in Houston!
KJ has done what was asked of him, the team have done what was asked of them, and the fans have done even more than was asked, or expected.
greasel, morgan and board, Wolverhampton (and all around the world) expects.
We expect you to get right behind this wonderful manager and his backroom team, and pull out the checkbook and all the stops to get whatever he says he needs for a successful challenge on the Chumpionship next year.
Don’t wait until May 3rd, or after world cup, START RIGHT NOW!!!
Big, big ,big congratulations to everyone associated with this fine result, and wonderful season.
Extremely proud once again to be a Wufflers fan!
And a lovely result from sandwell crematorium, turning a 3 nil lead into a draw!!
And thank you to Swindon Town as well.
In such a good mood I aint gonna sign off as usual!1
Agreed with all of that!
Yes, securing promotion already now gives Jacket and the scouts time to prepare for the next season. I don’t believe we need that many signings, but those we sign must strengthen our first team. One central midfielder, one central defender and one right fullback is a must, and possibly a striker. Up the wolves, to premier – for we are in the championship, for we are in the championship. Cheers! This is surely a great day to live.
Defo dont need a right full back. Doherty, Rickets, Stearman (if needs be). We need cover for Goldburne on the left. Dont think we need a centre mid either, Price, Evans, Edwards and Macca are all capable of playing in the championship. Agree we probably need another striker. Probably some cover for the wingers too. I guess we’ll have to see if we can hold onto all of our players first as that will shape our transfer window.
Doesn’t it just feel amazing?
Brilliant & congrats to our outstanding manager & young hungry players, they’ve shown what it means to wear the shirt with pride! Mr Jacket you have worked wonders.
I’ve got a grin a mile wide & its not fading. Now let’s finish this & lift that trophy.
A big thank you to Thomas & Ben for all your hard work in making this blog what it is.
Up the Wolves!!!
Kenny Jackett.A proper football man.Quiet and unassuming. The magnitude of what he has achieved in such a short time is staggering.I hope it continues into the Championship, but even if it doesn’t, as a Wolves supporter of 55 years I will always be grateful for the pride you have restored to us after the last few seasons. We ARE Wolves! WOLFTONE
Just brilliant. Well done to all at Wolves and all the fans who have stuck by our club. UTW.
Just back from the game, speechless, not the best game we’ve seen from the boys but wow what a coming together at the end, on the pitch Stears, Bhatt, Dicko, Jacobs James McAllinden all got mobbed beyond belief we nearly patted them to death. Each and every one of them loving every single, minute and savouring the well deserved accolades from the delirious fans. Two more wins and we are quite rightly going to be champs. Take note, 1 more goal takes us level with Rotherham and Leicester as the top goal scorers in all the divisions, I would love Wolves to own that one as well.
Well done Wolves, you’ve made us so happy and proud, thank you Kenny Jackett you alone masterminded tnis fantastic season.
Thanks Thomas and Ben you make our week, good work lads.
Damn, just seen Orients goals after the 5-1. So we need a couple more.
Onwards & Upwards
I was so wrong (not for the first time). Underwelmed by the appointment Overwelmed by the turn around. Well done Kenny !
Brilliant, congratulations to the manager and the whole squad. Can I put in a word of praise for Scott Golborne, who has been so reliable and contributed a lot without seeming to get the recognition he deserves.Let’s hope we’ll go on to be promoted as champions.
One of the best things this season has been to see the rebuilding of our team and club…..out with those that had lost the commitment, in with the Wolves born and bred, along with one or two who still had the balls for L1 and responded to great coaching and man-management and then some great top value signings. This combination is the proof of what an excellent appointment KJ has been. When he was managing Millwall, I was impressed with his approach and delighted that he came to Wolves. He has justified that faith and a whole lot more.
The calls for money for new players will now assail the two Ms’ ears, but this team surely has what it takes to provide a very solid base for the Championship, just like Southampton not so long ago.
I’m so looking forward to the last two home games. Thanks to KJ and all your staff who have restored the pride to 2009 Mick Mc levels.
Winning promotion to the Prem in 2009 was a higher level achievement but somehow this is far better, the journey has been so enjoyable and KJ appears to have been the panacea that has resolved all that was wrong about Wolves. I must admit to a little disappointment that more of us could not be there to savour the moment but perhaps we’ll all be there to celebrate being League 1 champions. This is an incredible achievement, this is not a team of established players who had the misfortune to drop out of the Championship, this is a new young team who have had to test both their footballing skills and deal with their lack of first team experience and confidence before taking to the pitch each week. I’ve not been to every game but I’ve been to most and its has been my most enjoyable season (1971/2 being my first). Lets just sit back and enjoy whats left and fill the Mol to show our appreciation. Well done Kenny and the lads.
Thanks kenny , thanks young wolves team . Thanks for all your hard work and pride restoration . Thanks to you all on wolves blog for being solid throughout . You lot are amazing , real fans and great company , funny too . Looking forward to passing straight thro the championship next year and chewing the fat with you lot while we do it . Thanks Thomas and Ben . Give yourselves a big pat on the back for all the time you give to people like me . Oh and F O W B
Yet another great piece Thomas, I echo all the names and would add Danny Batth too. The previous 4 managers chose to ignore him. Ken knows better.
Sorry great piece Ben
No probs Blacklace…the ultimate compliment to be mentioned in the same breath as the great TB!
It`s only Crewe, but a bigger result than beating Blackburn in the cup final, beating City in the league cu p final. It`s MASSIVE for our club.Congratulations and thanks to everyone at Wolves, well played fans and thanks to Thomas and Ben,your efforts are really appreciated by all who follow this amazing site.
What a day, what a season. Now that’s it.
I want to change tack here and level all the praise and plaudits at you guys here on the Wolves Blog, week in week out the lads Thomas & Ben have written a great piece that stimulated the topic of the day. You guys have come on wearing your heart on your sleeve sharing Dreams and memories alike with us all. I retired 18 Months ago having supported Wolves for 54 years going home and away when shifts allowed. Now it’s full on 100% attendance my wife and I, this site is the cream on the cake, sharing it with you guys and Girls in intelligent sporting and Black Country Banter. Every piece from the heart, good or bad we share the common goal here on the “Wolves Blog”. I enjoy what we have here, can’t believe how many Different nations come on, all supporting Wolves from afar. Truly inspirational folks, long may you continue in the same vein, thank you all for getting us all through from one match to the eagerly awaited next one. Roll on Friday next.:-)
When KJ’s name was first mentioned in connection with this job, the first thing I did was to visit the Millwall fan-sites. I couldn’t believe how positive the comments were given the fact that the guy had just left their club. No-one had a bad word to say for him – they were so grateful for the rescue job that he had done on their club. From that moment on I felt confident and I haven’t been disappointed. I just hope that all those heaping praise on him now will stick by him when the going gets tough, as it surely will!
Onwards and upwards, well done KJ and all the players, and to all the fans for the great support, just the title now please, the players deserve more than a medal for what they have achieved.
Over to you Morgan for next season.
Up the Wolves……
Incidentally, I’m no ‘Johnny-come-lately’ to the Wolves. My first team match was a 7-0 thrashing of Portsmouth on Dec 27th 1958, the day after we’d beaten them 5-3 in a Boxing Day fixture at Fratton Park. That’s what supporting the Wolves was like in the late 1950s. Happy days are here again!
Joy! A massive sigh of relief and pure, old gold JOY!
Well done Kenny Jackett and HIS team. Note the emphasis on his, he has gone about the business of turning this club around without fuss and in a professional manner and carried the supporters with him.
Really looking fwd to 3 May. Think it will be a sunny day of healing. A day for a party. We are a football club that draws its strength through its roots not the national media. The depth and commitment of the fans generally goes unrecognised. I have already praised Kenny but when you look at the players this season there is so much to hope for the future. Just to take one example Danny Batth has reminded me of a renowned centre half who until recently played for England. When you consider his background it is groundbreaking. Ignore us at your peril. UTW.
We’re going up, we’re going up, Wolves are going up! This is one very happy N London home. The old gold n black top has been worn with pride today and tonight! We’re going up! Kenny Jackett – what can you say. This very unassuming Englishman has taken rescued this very great English football club from disaster and oblivion. Galvanised proud but disillusioned Wolves fans (up and down the country for Wolves fans are many) into a mass of born again believers that football is a beautiful game and maybe Wolves can be great once again. Kenny is a different animal from MM. Whereas I go the impression that the Yorkshireman thought he was bigger than Wolves (which he aint no is bigger than Wolves) Kenny appreciates the club and the prestige of being manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers. I think he has managed to transfer that feeling to the players and the results show that. Now we have to build on this success and trust Kenny and give hime time to take us back to the Prem (not gonna say promised land because the Prem aint what Div 1 was back in the day). A big handshake from me to you Kenny. Top man, top season. Happy beyond words! We’re going up! What a fitting tribute to Waggy, Peter B and Bert! Those were the days my friends! These are the days my friends!
Check out @wwwebs on twitter to see a poster inspired by this Wolvesblog post. Just wanted to say thanks. I’d love to hear the present tense version of this Mary Hopkins classic reverberating around the Molineux as part of the end of season celebrations. We’ve got a team to be proud of! THESE ARE THE DAYS.
Aaaaaaaahhhhhnnnnndddddd breathe.
We’ve done it.
How many times can anyone say we could sit back and know our job is done?
Even at 3 up at The Millennium stadium I was not this relaxed as a Wolves fan.
What is now ours is ours. This team, this Manager, and us the fans deserve this.
Well done to all of you who were able to follow this great side all over the country, showing just what passion lies behind this football club.
I had to watch and listen from afar, but was there every minute of this campaign. As close to the action as I could be.
Well done everyone. We should all be proud. Not that we ever were not of our love.
Out of Darkness Commeth Light.
Come on Me Babbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wolves Ay We.
Fantastic!
Well done the Manager and the Players.
Love to see us get 100 points and do a double promotion…..
And like everyone else, thanks Ben and Thomas.
I’ve been a lot less active on the message board of late. When things are going wrong you always feel like you want to contribute to finding a solution. Not much call for me to contribute this season then? This record-breaking season has been miraculous. It’s even surpassed what MM achieved in the aftermath of Hoddle’s departure. The quality that Wolves have managed to bring in on a relative shoe-string has just underlined why so many of us were so disgruntled for so long. I know it’s the 3rd division but how many Wolves fans would take Karl Henry back in place of MacDonald? Stephen Ward in place of Golbourne? If you stick with poor quality players you get what you deserve: a double relegation. The board has kept a low profile this season and we’ve all been happier for it. I’d love to know who scouted Jacobs and Henry because, for me, they have been sensational. In any event, I take my hat off to Kenny Jackett. There’s only so many times you can witness your club self-destruct and I think most of us of a certain age have had enough of it to last a lifetime. This could have all gone horribly wrong for a lot of Wolves fans (myself included), who may never have found a way back. Fans know that promotion was not a foregone conclusion. Kenny set his stall out straight away by exiling the poisonous element of overpaid big-heads. Once he settled on his best eleven we never looked back. I’m confident those players will be good enough for the Championship. If we can add strength in depth the future looks very bright indeed.
At least the present team is much, much stronger than the team which was relegated. Whether wolves have enough quality to direct promotion next year with the players we have now is an interesting question. I say we need to add strength and depth to our central strike force, central defence, right fullback and central midfield. Our wingers, Sako and Henry are more than good enough. And Jacobs can play in that position also, and I really believe Eusebio can be a hit also. But we must be able to hold on to our best players now. Sako and Dicko for instance have been a huge hit this year.
It will be interesting to see what kind of approach Jackett choose. Will he strengthen all these areas I’ve mentioned before the season starts, or will he gradually strengthen throughout the season, which he has done this season? A lot depends on the board and Morgan. There’s no doubt that it is ideal to get in new players as early as possible.
Thomas and Ben, thanks for all you do.
You would not believe how much your effort and enthusiasm is appreciated. Especially by us remote followers of the old gold army.
It really makes up for all the miles away some us are.
Wolves player commentary when Tommo is on and when they switch to you Bem, and I assume it is you Ben, it makes me feel almost back at home.
I shout to the Mrs. Hear this bloke calling in the tweets on WM, that’s one of the guys that run the Wolvesblog.
I’ve opened my bubbly.
Cheers everyone.
When I am next back in Wolverhampton the drinks are on me Thomas and Ben and any other blogger who happens to be around.
Up and at em.
Come on you Wolves!!!!!
Did king Kenny stop the sale of Sako to Forest.
Did King Kenny bring in Dicko knowing he would instantly bond with the aforementioned, and the two become a gold and black goal machine?
Discuss…………
Forest didn’t meet the club’s valuation of Sako was the official story, whether Jackett interfered is difficult to say. It is not impossible though, I’m glad Sako didn’t leave wolves. These two players really played well together and played a major part of our promotion campaign.
I hope Nottingham, now positioned 11th, stays in championship. I’m pretty sure Sako is on their radar still.
Sako might be on Forest’s radar, but if they didn’t meet his evaluation then, I am sure they will find it a lot worse now! His valuation must surely go up as well as he will be playing in the Championship anyway now.
Congrats to everyone today. To KJ, to the players and all at the club. Thanks for giving us fans our faith and pride back. Job not finished be nice to go up as champions. To all our fans near and far, sanook (enjoy).
I Had to mention Danny Batth one of my three for player of the season Colin..at a young age he has the makings of a future England player and has the attitude that goes with it..
What a header recently too..
The other two players? MacDonald and Golbourne.. Then there’s Sako Dicko Jacobs Henry Rickets……lol
Absolutely. Batth and the other players gradually improved as a defensive unit, and at some point, in the second half of the campaign, wolves stopped conceding goals. I really hope we can hold on to our best players now.
Great result, great scenes after the game, great manager, great team
Were on our way back how good is that
UTW
Fantastic. We would all have settled for this at the start of the season. Now for the title.
Good Morning all you Championship Wolves Bloggers and as a Brucie bonus the sun is shining here in Pendefordville.
Let’s take this to a new level-
Thomas, Ben, I see a few fellow bloggers are trying to organise a get together on May 3rd somewhere in Wolvo, the Stan Cullis was also mentioned but I haven’t really spotted too much more. Can you guys drive this a bit and try to attend yourselves before the Carlisle Disco at Molineux. It would be great to meet all these people (smiley happy people) and share a few Selfies it would spur us on over the gap before we tackle the Championship.
Over to you guys or whoever has it in hand, let’s make this happen.
🙂
Terrific season and many congratulations to Kenny and all the players. You have put the pride back into Wolverhampton. Let’s get our hands on the title to put the icing on the cake.
Just a very small note of caution. This is the first step along the road back to where we belong. As supporters of this great club we must not make the same mistake as previously by raising expectations above the realistic. As we know, the Championship is a tough place and will not be easy for this young side. They will need our full support in good times and bad and we should stick with them if results don’t go all our way.
That is for next season though. For now let’s enjoy the moment – we have had precious few opportunities in the last 2 years.
Well done boys
The great Fergie once said “you need a great team and a little luck to with the league title”
Well we now have a great team 🙂
A little luck?
We need 2 more wins for the title (easy for this team)
or (see below)
Brentford to lose one more-
Their Kevin McDonald elect, Adam Forshaw was sent off yesterday so is banned for a couple of games.
They now play Preston (6-1 yesterday)
I don’t fancy their chances, they were a mediocre team in let’s face it a mediocre league.
Come on you Wolves another accolade awaits you.
What a great day.
I share all the joy at what has been achieved by a team that has clearly won over the hearts & minds of the Wolves faithful.
Brilliant blog & great summing up by Ben. Its league 1 yes, but only Wolves fans know how good it is after the debacle of the last two seasons & manager appointments that defied belief.
Kevin McDonald was my player of the season, but all of this wonderful team deserve all the plaudits.
I have been so impressed by the two leftovers from the era of sick, Edwards & Stearman. It says a hell of a lot about their professionalism & good guy personalities for them to have come through & contributed so much to the magnificent achievement of this season.
If Edwards can stay fit for any length of time I am convinced he would be effective in any league. Its a shame that just as he gets going & in form he’s usually injury struck.
But onwards & upwards I cannot wait for the Good Friday fixture. Up the Wolves.
If you are thinking ‘I could not feel any happier about Wolves than I am today’. Well I’ve got two words for you…. Dean Saunders! Holy crap just imagine they’d given him a crack at getting us back up. Ha-ha
When you think about how hard it is for certain big teams to get out of divisions like this when everyone expects them to that we did it so emphatically is fantastic! Couldn’t be happier atm 😀
For all the shame and embarrassment, this season needed to happen – providing it only took one season. If Dean Saunders had kept us up how many of the old guard would still be in place? A fair few I imagine. Relegation has allowed us to rebuild and put together a squad capable of mounting a challenge again next season. Wonderful Kenny, brilliant McDonald and the rest.
Well, we have have made it! To say I am a proud Wolves fan is an understatement. Well done to players, KJ and, not forgetting the asst coach Joe Gallen, Tony Daley and the rest of the back room staff. Fantastic achievement. Let us all hope this is the start of a new era in our glorious history.
A wonderful season has given us all new optimism and faith that within another 2 seasons we could be back in the prem league.
Big thanks to Thomas and Ben for the great blogs and to all you other Wolves posters on here. You have made this site what it is – brilliant !
Love and peace to all
🙂
Hey all,
Check out Wolves news now, the Nick Burzon piece on Brentford, check the replies to his blog. ALL WOLVES FANS.
Come on Preston, give us the title on Friday:-)
Sorry about the delay in contributing to the general celebrations but I’ve only just got back from a break in the depths of the Wiltshire countryside.
Took Monty, the trusty VW camper, to the Barge Inn. If you’ve never been, then you’ve missed a treat.
Drove into the camping field and there was only one other van there.
It was a bit boggy and I got stuck up to my axles in it.
(There is a point to this story, you’ll see in a minute.)
I asked for some assistance in getting out. There were three people in the other van. Two blokes and a girl.
The girl tried to help but she said I wouldn’t get anything out of the men because they were too interested in the football.
“What football is that?” I asked.
“Brentford” She replied.
“Bastards!” I thought to myself.
In the end, I managed to get out of the mud with the aid of a few buckets of grit that I found and the present Mrs DG’er bouncing up and down on the back bumper.
She got covered in mud so we had a good laugh in the end.
Well, I did anyway.
That evening in the pub I went over to commiserate (NOT!) with the Brentford supporters and they turned out to be OK chaps.
I said that I hope they go up and we would be happy to play them again next season because it was a guaranteed six points.
Now to the main subject in hand.
“YABBADABBADOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
I’d love to get stuck in up to my axles but the wife says I’m far too old for THAT !
I think it depends on who’s mud you’re stuck in!
Thank you Kenny for restoring genuine pride to our wonderful club.
That is all.
Just a little addition.
The future`s bright,the future`s OLD GOLD.
If Carlsberg made Jacketts, they’de probably be called Kenny 🙂
… been hiding under a rock, did I miss something a tad important?
Way too many posts to wade through but I’m sure I’ll get the general idea if I read one of them! 🙂
Up the beards
(Shame this season ends in a just a few games but what a summer it will be this year – regardless of what the weather brings).
Winning 2-0 against 10 men, and the ref gives a dodgy free kick on the edge of our box with a few minutes left. Stearman sprints at the ball, puts his body on the line to block the free kick. Desire, hunger, grit, dtermination from this very underated player, and from the rest of the team on Saturday. The spirit, the togetherness of this group, plus the unbelievable support, made the train journey back from Crewe most enjoyable. I`m so proud to say I was there when we got promoyed. Thanks KJ and his team, I`m proud to be a Wolves fan again.
Realy good feeling at the moment. Would it not be even better if we were to lift the Title too.
I just read somwewhere this seasons achievement in respect of records broken, and offer the breakdown that I am aware of – I found it interesting (apart from the very first record):
Consecutive relegations twice (New Record)
9 Consecutive Victories (New Record)
93 points (New Record)
24 Clean Sheets (New Record)
Now, that is awesome really, but could we break some more? I am unsure if the first one on the list is a record but it is a dream:
Consecutive Promotions
Overall League Wins Record is 28 (we currently have 28 – so another win = New Record)
Overall Away Wins Record is 13 (we currently have 13 – so another away win = New Record)
Fewest Goals Conceded Record is 27 (we currently have 25 – clean sheets = New Record)
My ticket for Friday’s game against Rotherham is locked in my safe at work, along with two tickets for the Carlisle Party!!! I am getting excited!
On the subject of our NEW team:-
Just come back from the Molineux with my Grandson, the young Wolves we’re invited to see the team training. Every single player signed shirts tops, faces, books and all posed for photos. Our future Wolves fans will remember this for a long time.
A contrast from the past Prima Donna’s who would scoff and stand around messing about with each other in groups ignoring the kids. Kenny Jackett was last man standing, then he went back down the line signing more shirts and posing for photos. As we were leaving out came Dicko for a second go.
This is “the New Wolves” I Love it.
I read that Harry Rednapp wants to keep Doyle. My thoughts are “Yes please”. We have scored more without him and played well too. He is a worker, tireless and energetic, but I have always considered him to be an attacking midfielder not a striker, and I certainly don’t consider him a goalscorer. I rate the guy, but I don’t believe he fits in with Kenny’s structure and I say we should bite Harry’s hand off – even if it means taking a hit!
Thoughts?
UTW/FOWB
Yes I agree with you. I was Doyle’s biggest fan & defender, but the new Wolves should not go backwards. Let Redknapp keep him.
I agree with you Brompton Wolf. Poor old Kevin Doyle was absolutely knackered after 2 seasons playing lone front man for MM. Nice bloke, but nothing in the tank, and to be fair sometimes you have to go to a new club to refind your energy and enthusiasm. He always gave 100% and he`s a good player, although now at his age, he ain`t young and hungry. Nice one Harry may pay a fee, and I`d say thank you and good luck Doyley – for you no hard feelings.
The real problem what to do with of course is MM` s lovechild Ward, his best ever signing !!, Roger Johnson maybe MM`s second best signing, and then O’Hara, I`d give them all a free transfer, and look with lack of interest which outer Mongolian third division team would sign any of them.
It’s a long time between games now and I am like a spare part these days so, with sincere and profound apologies to the Bard of the Black Country…………………………
A shorter version.
Ooh it makes me wonder !
There’s a man who’s sure all that glitters is gold
And he’s building a stairway to heaven.
When he gets there he knows, if the season is close
With his word his team can get what they strive for.
Ooh, ooh, and he ‘s building a stairway to heaven.
There’s a sign on the wall but he wants to be sure
‘Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
On the stand by the pitch there’s a banner that says ,
All our love knows no division.
Ooh , it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.
There’s a feeling I get when I come to the Wolves
And my team is playing for glory.
In my dreams I have seen waves of joy in the stands,
And the songs of those who come supporting.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.
And it’s whispered that soon, if we all call the tune,
Then Kenny will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long,
And the terraces will echo with laughter.
If there’s a builder from the Redrow, don’t be alarmed now,
It’s just a spring clean for May the third.
Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on.
And it makes me wonder.
Kenny’s building a stairway to heaven.
Lynx, hoping Robbie Plant might read your new version?
Lynx 🙂
Now there are 3 steps to Heaven, Dah Da Dah Da Dah Da………
Step 1
You appoint a brand new Gaffer
Step 2
You win and win and win and win
Step 3
You drive on and gain promotion! And then go on to win the league
Rock on Eddie Cochran ! Good times then. Good times now !

Congrats kj. You’ve made us proud again, no mean feat considering the past few years. Now let’s win the title!!
It goes without saying that KJ has done a truly great job in not only stopping the rot that had plagued the club for the past 3 seasons, but in creating a team and galvanising a club and its supporters that was on it’s knees – in just one season!
However, with promotion to the Championship now guaranteed and thoughts able to turn to how we can push on further, I can’t shake a niggle that I fear, unless addressed, will prevent us ever being more than, at best, a Premier League yo-yo club:
That niggle is the club’s hierarchy still clinging to the naive belief that we can become an established PL club with ‘young and hungry’ players. If our 3 years in the PL (painfully) demonstrated anything, it’s that you need much more than just effort and desire to compete in the league.
As when we were promoted under MM last time around with a group of promising young players, it was obvious that they needed help in the form of players with genuine PL quality, nous and experience; the kind of balance every succesful team needs.
However, led by MM, there was a naive and, in the end, foolish and stubborn refusal to accept this; believing instead that the team and squad was better than it really was – with disastrous consequences.
So, whilst it’s warming to hear our Chairman make declarations that he’s determined to get us back to the PL…stating that when (if) we do, we’ll stay there because of the academy players we’ll have in the team, does worry me – a lot.
Anyway, we’re a fair way from having to think about the next, next step, as I think a relatively young team like ours, coupled with Kenny’s tactical nous and experience and a few choice additions to the team may be enough to get us challenging for a top 6 position next season.
Up the Wolves!
Hopefully we’ll be worrying about this in 12 months time – as I don’t think I’m being daft in thinking we can follow the double relegation with a double promotion . I don’t see why we can’t do what Norwich and Southampton have done in the recent past. Kenny and Kevin Thetwell are men with a plan, as Kenny said the other day, part one of that plan has already been achieved – and I’m sure that parts two and three of that plan have been worked on during the season, and that further wider developments at the club have been costed, and the wheels already put in motion. Steve Morgan will have learned from the mistakes made in recent years, he has quietly let Kenny and Kevin get on with it this year, and has provided the funds to enable us keep one or two of our better players from last season, as well as adding several excellent new ones, well done Steve. However it’s all going to get allot more serious next season, and Kenny and Kevin will need more Stirling support from the board, if we are to make the most of the opportunity that next season will bring…
Just a quick comment to say thanks so much for the lovely messages. It really means a heck of a lot and makes the blog worthwhile. A labour of love! I’ll have a think about that Carlisle game idea as well…Still on a high!
Count me in!!
I will be there, and we can sit all night in the same hotel bar we did last summer, when MrsClivefromHouston graced you with her presents!!!
See you in 2 weeks, Benno.
Clive.
I apologise if I appear to have butted in as I do believe it was you that initially got this idea in motion, I may be wrong. But it went a tad quiet and I enjoy this site so much I am as keen as others that want to meet and put a face to the names and share the great buzz running through the club right now. So if I have over stepped the mark I do apologise. If you have any more info We would be grateful if not then , perhaps Ben has some ideas. In any case I look forward to meeting “Clive from Houston”. as we pick up the champions title.

I’m in too. I am waiting on the DOOGooder to confirm the meet at his hotel, but have not heard anything about a gathering at the Mol. You are a million miles away, so can not be expected to arrange it, I am miles away, and although I am (probably) the first one to suggest getting together a few months back, I will go with the flow. As said previously it would be real good to meet all fellow bloggers. Quite simple to put together really, just let everyone on here know the time and location ie 1.30 outside Museum and see who turns up.
UTW/FOWB
Brompton
We have a couple of weeks left and as you say not difficult to arrange, so I shall keep my ear to the ground, I did’nt realise you started the initiative, good on you. Looking forward to it (and upwards.)
StuWolf,
I say I started it, but it may well have been spoken about before that by someone else, but I had not seen anything. I started off by mentioning it to Clive (I think it was Clive – “was it you I mentioned it to Clive”?) I said that I thought it would be good if all us Wolves Bloggers could get together and meet up before a match. I initially suggested T Shirts such as:
Wolves Blogger
StuWolf
Wolves Blogger
theDOOGooder
Wolves Blogger
Clive from Houston
etc, but not sure what the uptake would be. Anyway, regardless of what people want to do it would be great to meet all you bloggers. Been a damn good season.
theDOOGooder is arranging a meet at his hotel if the people do not exceed a certain limit I believe. I will travel from North Yorkshire so intend to go to the hotel if/when confirmed, meet a few chaps and then take in the Party at the Mol. Be good to meet you mate.
Hi StuWolf
If you would like to come to the prematch meet at the hotel I’m staying, email me at
my.studio@btconnect.com
Due to its size numbers are a bit limited so it’s really on a first come first served basis.
If you’re interested I will email you back with the details.
theDOOGooder. Hope you got my email, if not can you consider letting me know the details at stevelbiles@hotmail.com
Looking forward to it mate.
Lynx,
I have to firstly advise that I hate anyone messing with a classic… but I quite like that version!
Quick change From ooh makes me wonder to… Ooh we are the Wanderers belting out from the Northbank and then from the Southbank would sound spectacular.
Put the words in the program for the rest to sing to the DJ playing an instrumental version and this could actually be a new Wolves song of which I’m sure our very own RP would love… and you never know, he could sing it at half time on occasion.
Up the beards!
(Planty’s being the beard of choice for today).
I have been very very quiet the season, but have not missed much at all the blog has been better than ever because of all the positive statements and we are up, as champions will be the icing on the cake, 100 + points would really make a statement of intent.
Well my thoughts are already with next season, and I have my own thoughts, they are 2 or 3 seasons in the Championship to really get re-established then really make a push for the prem, Mr Jackett at the helm would do for me. What we don’t want is to go up and come straight back down.
Last night on BBC Midlands today they mentioned greasel’s name, first time this season if he won’t go at least keep him out of all things football.
Kenny Jacket and all the rest of the staff, I doff my cap to all of you, thanks for a great record breaking season, long may it continue.
Just a thought, if we’d still been in the premiership… the posts moaning of just scraping by to retain our position again would have been eating away at the Team/Fan relationship.
At the time, the double dip was a complete unthinkable disaster… but was it?
The reason to support your team is to watch the players showing pride, commitment and all the other qualities that go with wearing the club shirt, not watching overpaid pricks ripping supporters off.
This season “will” be remembered as one of the best seasons ever and eclipsing the seasons we spent in the premiership due to the players “wanting” to play and not just work horses that put a shift in or flair players that just want to promote themselves as the centre of the universe.
Support for your team will follow how the players are reacting to a club ethos. How many clubs could get stuffed into the 3rd division and take 9000 away to MK and attempt a 30k home record against Rotherham in pretty much a nothing match as promotion is already a given. Okay I say a nothing match, as this is how the outside world will see it, to the players this is next step to the title, of which they will all be proud to be part of.
“When” we finally reach the dizzy heights again, I suspect the level pay structure that Jacket is implementing will bring in players that “want” to play and not just watch the bank balance increase by ridiculous proportions. Remind me… What is Rooney on again? Gifted and a damn hard worker… But is he really worth that amount of money when another player in the team is on a tenth of his wage… If a work colleague was doing a similar job to me, then I would probably feel like shit and not give my all, makes you wonder why Manu are floundering.
So in Kennys eyes, if you want to play for us and be part of a team then you take what’s on offer and be part of Wolves history.
Back to my question earlier… Was it really a disaster? We now have the right manager… We are back in the division next season that we could not buy ourselves out of in the 90’s and we have the hungriest team that I can remember. I don’t think the decks would have been cleared if we’d not have been relegated again and Kenny would not be at our club.
If we kick off next season with the same way we are finishing this one, then I would not be surprised to see our attendances outnumbering our average compared to when we were in the premiership. (We may just need to build that new stand after all).
Now we just need John De Wolf back to complete our new legendary display of facial prowess.
Up the beards
Just been on the sanitized site, first time for ages, and seen that greasel has slithered from under his rock.
He is spouting on about “we’ve done this” and “we’ve done that” and all sorts of total bollocks aimed at promoting himself…..yet again.
The only thing that fat twat has done this season is keep his stupid gob shut, but he can only do that for so long.
The irony is that while the team is successful on the pitch, we are stuck with him, and he will just get more and more money that he has not earned and does not deserve.
All very well for him to say it was his appointment of KJ etc. etc., but he glosses over the fact that it was also his appointments of Connor, Solbakken and Saunders.
And where were all the academy players he now lauds, under McDickwadhead?
Don’t see him eating humble pie, or dropping on his own sword in admission of those abject failures, do we?
Fat turd, leopard and spots come to mind, we’ll see what transpires over the summer, but I fear the same old bullshit will be spun at us.
Why cant this slug be got rid of???
On another rant, let me pose a conundrum to y’all.
Several years ago, MrsClivefromHouston was almost ejected from her first ever visit to The Mol, for taking photos with a camera.
Total bullshit, I know, but there were some little hitler type stewards on duty.
Fast forward to May 3rd this year, and the pending royal visit of ClivefromHouston.
I e mailed the marketing and communications dept at The Mol, asking their policy on cameras at the ground.
They replied that they cannot allow cameras into the ground as they “have to be fair and consistent with all supporters.”
What kind of non answer was that?
I replied that letting me bring a camera to the ground would be fair and consistent with all supporters, since most people carry a smart phone, take numerous pictures, and videos are on you tube etc. all over place.
(Yes, I got a iphone, but quality and clarity are much better with a real camera)
And no, I have not had a reply to my response, nor do I expect one.
Suffice it to be said, me and camera WILL be at the Carlisle match, and bollocks to anyone who tries to eject me, they will have Big Mark and Scooped’s bald head to deal with!!
FO w b
Count Twixfix in if there’s any camera aggro. They’ll need to eject 90% of the fans if the basis is fair and consistent with us having built in cameras on our phones.
Could also mean the players have their phones confiscated too … all in all yet more bollocks from the Molineux jobsworth brigade …
That will be two cameras then, cos I am defo taking mine mate
That’s the century! (sorry, I didn’t like seeing 99 comments)
Sorry Ben last word and all that.
I love Dalmations.
This one is for clive,…….
Google “Kim Jong Un”
Tell me it’s not him……
