Making it through, however unconvincingly, in the FA Cup and the arrival of a striker with real pedigree are both big positives.
But results in the Premier League must improve if the gloom is to be lifted.

We’re craving wins but actually, had we held firm for draws in more of the games, the table wouldn’t look quite so grim.
I’m thinking about the games against Villa, Everton, Utd, Albion where we were edged out by serious defensive lapses.
It’s for that reason I hope Nuno reverts to a back three, makes us harder to beat and we start grinding out those useful points in addition to the wins we’ll need to stay up.
Chelsea
The one league victory we have mustered in recent months arguably cost Frank Lampard his job.
Had they been 6th instead of 9th going into this one, he may well have been given a stay of execution.

But they’ve been pushed aside by Leicester, Man City and Arsenal since and the routine manner of those defeats as much as the scorelines no doubt gave Roman itchy trigger finger.
Is it to our benefit that they’re coming into this one in-between coaches? Hard to say.
Whatever their motivation, in Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud and even Mason Mount, they’ve got players who tend to perform and score against Wolves.
The problem for the incoming Chelsea manager will be the same as it was for Lampard, finding a best eleven from a squad that shouldn’t lack the quality to be top four contenders.

The home end
Some thoughts lifted from the pre-match thread on The Shed End forum:
Sounds bad but I’m actually looking forward to this game now as the team might have some fight. I’m hoping there’s a new manager bounce.
Must win game and I’m more confident as I was last week. Don’t know to expect from Tuchel but this squad is good, so I’m hoping to see what we were doing 8 weeks ago.
I would still like to know who’s in charge for this match that’s now just over 48 hours away. Petr? Flo? Mason Mount?
No problem now. Should win this 3 or 4 nil. This guy must be special. Can’t believe he can come in the country, as long as he tests negative, be allowed to take training and matches but isolate for only 5 days. You either isolate or you don’t! Those that aren’t key workers, we have tests and we can only go to the supermarket or jog walk or cycle for an hour!!!
Wolves
I don’t think Willian Jose will be involved tomorrow but he should be a very useful acquisition in the weeks and month to come.

For this one, I’d play with the extra defender, pack the midfield and ask Neto and Traore to produce. Kind of what we did at Old Trafford.
I was convinced that we needed to play with a striker a few months ago, but we can’t afford for Fabio or Cutrone to be anonymous as they were against Chorley.
As others have pointed out, the service into them was poor to non-existent, but you have to look at what they do in terms of holding the ball and laying it off and even in those fundamentals, they failed.
I think we’ve missed Daniel Podence in recent weeks as he can offer something different, so getting him back along with Willian will be a significant boost.
Last time out
Pedro Neto’s electric run and finish gave us all the points at Molineux last month. I thought we were cooked when we went behind but Podence and Neto both produced big performances to turn it around.

We, of course, lost 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on the final day of last season to end our hopes of European football. Once we fell behind it was all very routine for Chelsea.
Predictions
Nobody thought we’d contrive to concede three goals to Albion last time out. MILDENHALL WOLF still leads the way in the overall table at the halfway point.
As always if you’d like to join in, simply leave your prediction for this game in the comment section below, which is where you’ll find my best guess.
Up The Wolves!

There’s absolutely no reason at all to suggest we’ll get anything from this game based on what we’ve seen on the pitch in recent weeks.
But I think there’s too much quality in the group for us to keep serving up total dross. With more senior players returning, it’s time to use them and if we can be tougher in defence, I think we’ll see an upturn in our fortunes.
Who knows what Chelsea will produce? But if we can capitalise on any uncertainty we’ll only do it by being difficult to beat and asking them a question. That means no early goals conceded, using the ball intelligently and getting back to what this group used to do better than anyone.
As you say Thomas, difficult to know whether The Lamps going out at Chelsea will be a good omen for us.
But I’m sure someone once said:-
“Out of darkness cometh light”.
I just hope that we show some balls against a club that are in transition as we are.
If we turn up with attitude and fight, I would back us to get at least a draw.
But if we fiddle, faddle and tart about (that’s a football coaches phrase, you probably won’t understand the technical nuances involved), like we have been doing recently we’ll end up on the end of a hiding.
Traore and Neto to start. Five at the back. No Cutrone. Keep going with The Hoover.
Let’s get at them!
Oh dear. I’m not this optimistic … however, I’ve been as clueless as an 18 year old striker in my predictions this season so this latest may be a good sign for 3 points for WWFC.
Our form has been derisory of late; time to get back to basics and build up some much needed confidence.
We seem to mostly do ok down in the smoke and l feel 3 points heading back up to the black country in my waters.
A clean sheet would be great but maybe, just maybe, too much to hope for.
Hey Thomas!
Can you please ask that Chelsea blogger that you have featured above to let me know what he’s on?
I’ll have several pints please!
“Must win game and I’m more confident as I was last week. Don’t know to expect from Tuchel but this squad is good, so I’m hoping to see what we were doing 8 weeks ago.”
Fully agree Thomas although I am inclined to give Fabio another runout as he has offered an out ball from defence, bringing others into play. Playing with only 2 upfront will hand possession to Chelsea and it could be a real game of attrition – and we know how that ends up with our porous WBs in defence. Not expecting anything from this game- the Chelsea slackers will be ‘doing it for Frank’ and until Marcel and Jonny are fit, we will continue to leak goals and lack competitiveness in wide midfield positions. However, I can’t not back the boys to pull off an unexpected win- ever the optimist. Neto to score 2.
This really depends on which Chelsea turns up, either way our lack of cutting edge suggests we have to start with a point and end with one. Previous displays suggests Fabio won’t get much change, if any, out of Thiago Siva and Zouma so until Willian Jose is ready, I say pack the midfield and leave Neto and Traore up front as a pair. At least it will give us 11 functioning players.
I was hoping that Podence might be back for this . Adama has been on and off again lately and puts the team out of balance . Maybe he’ll have a good game . Who knows . I’m not just leaning on him though. I thought our passing in general has been poor lately and we’ve been giving the ball away far too easily. I haven’t been able to watch a single game of football on the tv since that A@&@/n result . It made me hate the game .
.
Up the wolves
No idea on this one. If Teuchel can get the best out of Havertz and Werner it would make them very formidable in the future.
That Chelsea guy is a bit cock sure of himself isn’t he? For that reason alone I’m going for a win
I am really starting to dislike supports from any club (except ours ;)) with there uneducated and meaningless information and or OPINION ( I Know right? Ironic).
That last quote “should be 3 or 4 nil”
I cannot stand ego’s in football.
I can still see our progression and system setting itself up nicely for when it clicks, a few bad performances and a hole to get out of don’t take away from the last 2 seasons and all we have built, and the players brought in…. Could anyone of imagined this (sort of Discussion) when we had Mighty Mick? Back then we had strikers playing Left Back ;’) and our best winger was Matt Jarvis! Different Challenge today for a different club.
Also, Guys, being in 17th Position but 10 points clear of 18th Doesn’t put us in a relegation battle. Only way I see us being in a relegation battle is if we don’t gather points from our next 10 games, and there is 15 points there easily…
I have wrote this game off, Chelsea will either come out and have the game of there life, or crumble. I cannot wait to find out what way they going to go!
Expecting a defeat but will be ok with that in the current circumstances if we play the back 3 and put in a decent performance .At least that will give me hope that Nuno has come to his senses and realised we don’t have the right players to be defensively solid with a back 4 .Without that solidity we are not going to win many games and we need a few wins to avoid a drop in to proper relegation trouble .
We have to play 5 at the back but I would change Swiss for Coady along with Boly and Klinman. I would the have a midfield of Neves Coady and Dendoncker that should give us a bit more bit and more going forward and have Neto and Traore up front a 2-1 to the Wolves.
Hope we revert to 5 at back for more defensive solidity in the short term. Get the 5 or 6 wins we need then Nuno can trial the four at the back until his heart’s content for there’s too the season. Jose must feature at some point in this game. He is fit, has played and scored in the last week. Cutrone played having not done so regularly for weeks. Predicting a draw more in hope than expectation on current form.
Has he even secured his work permit yet Sutton? Not sure he’ll be even travelling until he does and then he’s got to negotiate the Covid protocol, meet his new team mates etc. All pointing to him not featuring tomorrow.
With that being the case, hope Nuno opts to make their centre halves redundant and just have Traore and Neto up front with Dendoncker breaking forward from a 4 man midfield.
Either way it’s going to be tough but those from Kings Road are short on confidence too so we can get a draw at least. Exactly as it was on my last visit to Stamford Bridge 3-3, in 76/77. Won’t be going this time either!
Yes fair point on work permit and COVID isolation etc
* for the rest of the season
Hard to know how their new manager will affect this, but in reality will depend primarily on which Wolves turn up.
Back three for me, until we get an experienced centre forward into the team. Some say it’s too defensive, but it hasn’t been too defensive these past three seasons and, with Semedo and Ait Nouri filling the wing back roles, there’s no reason it should be.
Really looking forward to seeing Senor Jose in the Old Gold. He seems, on paper, to be the perfect stand in for Raul and quite a prospect in the future, under certain circumstances, to see them on the pitch together.
Either way, a pragmatic back three and a 1-0 win.
I would love nothing more than a good convincing win, I would also like a lotto win, but I think on this occasion the lotto win is the most likely.
I love my team, but I think we have had too many changes through injuries, weak players, loss of confidence and sadly Chelsea played absolutely great Sunday.
Please go back to a back 3. Nuno, play Hoever in the RWB position with Semedo in front of him, not the other way round.
Sadly I’m predicting a loss here.
But, I will suck it up and wait for Jose to show us what he can do. Nuno did say Poddy would be available for this game, let’s hope so.
Chelsea 3
Wolves 0
In the hope they prove me wrong and embarrass me for my lack of faith at this time.
COMBambinos
I saw that Podence is out for a few more weeks, Stu.
That’s a shame, thanks for the heads up.
I was dreading this game before they sacked Lampard but now I fear it even more with the new manager bounce Werner will probably also have a blinder, for me anything we get out this game will be a bonus but the Palace game is must win. I understand people saying 5 at the back but when Podence and the new striker are available I would like to see Adama, Podence and Neto behind Willian. I firmly believe playing with an actual experienced striker will make such as difference.
Damage limitation onto the next one.
Win would be brilliant but a draw would be a god result
We need to stay in the game and may be nick it near the end
Five at the back even put Sais in midfield add some steel Matihnio legs have gone so bring him on for last half hour if Sais is on a yellow
The most important thing is we stop the rot if that means sacreficing performance for a result so be it
I don’t think Moutinho’s legs have gone. Example his performances for Portugal of late. I think he’s gone a bit stale but is far from being the only one. Don’t think that we can afford to be without him, to be honest, if we want some semblance of possession.
Lampard did nothing at derby and very little at Chelsea considering the money he spent.
What annoys me is the “ it’s not good enough for Chelsea or “ it’s not good enough for United?
I’m old enough to remember Chelsea playing in division 2 in front of 12000 with a moat around the ground to keep what few racist knuckle draggers they had left off the pitch .
The self titled top six are really struggling lately to hold on to their status without throwing their toys out the pram ( see arsenal)
We may not finish above them this year but this is an important game for both them and us .
I fancy it
Come on you wolves
Yes Marney,an archetypal yo-yo team until moneybags arrived.
Starting to get a little bit nervous to say the least . I just cant see where the next 3 points are going to come from . Chelsea, having just lost their manager and with a new one in charge are going to put us to the sword .
I hate to say this but until Jose arrives we haven’t got a hope in hell . We cant defend , keep letting in goals and have a toothless attack . I am praying that Podence is back for this game . We really need his flair.
Its my birthday tomorrow and how much I would like to celebrate it with a Wolves win……fingers crossed
COYW
Happy Dodgsday for tomorrow Birthster!
It’s the PMDG’ers birthday today. We’d all like to celebrate with a win but we’ll make do with a few glasses of bubbly for now.
Cheers Doog ! another year older and another wrinkle in my arse cheek as they say in Bilston !
It’s not like we are being run off the pitch each game lately so there is no reason why we can’t win if everyone concentrates and we cut out the mistakes and penalties. And early goals. Nothing worse than watching the game when we are down a goal after 5 or 10 minutes.
I know my line-up suggestions won’t happen but that does not mean they are wrong, just that Nuno disagrees.
Ruddy in net. Boly on the left side and Coady on the right. Saisse in the middle.
Neto and Traore up front. Dendoncker, Neves and Vitinha as the mid-fielders.
I’m predicting Nuno will find a way to shoe-horn Fabio and Morgan into the game at some point in time because he has his loyalists.
1-2. An own goal and one from Neto.
Won’t Ruddy struggle to make a save if he’s in the net?
I like that line up – would myself, adjust the following.
Rui (because I am sorry, Ruddy is awful and that’s why he has never ‘made’ it.)
Boly, Coady, Kilman
Houver – Ait Nouri
Donk, Moutinho, saiss
adama, Neto
Ruddy is an England international.
I’m saying this as a fan of Ruddy’s, he was excellent at Norwich and has overall done a solid job for us, but to call him an England international is the sort of spin a politician would be proud of. He played 45 minutes in a friendly back in 2012.
Patricio isn’t having the best run of form but to be fair he is a better keeper than Big John.
I am saying this because there is a difference in style between Rui and John. We are having problems with long throw-ins and corners and just dealing with tall opposition players in the box with headers. Why not put someone in who could handle these things better?
Think outside the box when it comes to dealing with issues inside the box.
so is pickford…
I am looking for 3 results out of the 3 against our upcoming fixtures with London opponents
still predicting a draw for this but positive thoughts on Jose coming in and Podence returning soon to get us back to winning ways
COYW
It’s got to be defence first then see if we can nick one. Even then I’m not sure our form indicates we can keep a clean sheet.
I find it hard to argue with Thomas’s selection but I’m sure Nuno will.
Hopefully our good Dr. N has seen the light, or lack of it, emanating from Cutrone, Traore and Silva, and gives them a not so well earned rest.
If we put out eleven men who can, and want to play, then we have a better than 50/50 chance of stuffing the pensioners.
With those aforementioned three in the team, we are doomed.
Silva I feel sorry for, he has been thrown in the deep end without a paddle, because of Raul’s injury, and has floundered.
Not his fault entirely, but as my headmaster regularly put on my end of term reports, can and must do better.
As someone put on Facebook, Abramovich now has his managers on a rolling 45 minute contract. If they are losing at half time, out you go!
They have a lot of talent in their squad, but hide it well sometimes, and hopefully will do so tomorrow.
Easy London win for me Babbeez
5-1
Let’s all hope Traore makes you eat your words, Evil C. I have a feeling that the other two won’t.
Give Traore a break FFS Clive.
Which leg?
Helps if I put the score in the correct place.
Duh!
CHELSEA = LAMPS OUT.
WOLVES = OUT OF DARKNESS COMETH LIGHT.
Lol. Well spotted MW.
Doog already spotted that.
Hey there Brompto’ ole buddy. How ya doing?
Fine mate, Especially now that I have seen the line-up.
Hope all is well your end buddy.
Yeah, not bad all things considered. Healthy at least, even if I’m not wealthy or wise.
In the past I’ve always predicted a Wolves win, usually by a 2-1 score. That hasn’t been working too well lately so I thought I’d change it up and predict against the team, hoping to get it wrong (they need to go up the table more than I do.) But I just can’t so let’s try a different score.
WGH!
There’s light ahead with a new striker arriving and some key players looking like they will return soon.
None in time for this match, however.
Whereas their squad will all be out to try to impress the new manager regardless of whether he has officially taken the reins or not. It’s been a topsy turvy season and my predictions so far have been way off, so we might just go and complete the double over them, but I just can’t be confident in us getting a result at the moment.
Yep, I agree with this Woky. The fact is our form has been just awful for a good while now. A lot depends on how Chelsea react to their managerial change of course, but our own poor form in both in attack and defence leads me to fear the worst alas.
Three at the back… a draw maybe even nick it .
Four at the back… hammered …..and if he plays prince charming I will consider topping myself.
As for a score prediction ?????
Here’s hoping for common sense and three at the back ..don’t care who he plays as wing backs
Will Chelsea have a new manager bounce? Will Wolves be more focused with Jose’s arrival imminent? Nobody knows – we can hope for a season changing win – it’s just possible.
I vote for a back five and no short corners (please).
I would dearly love a win, but the law of sod dictates that Chelsea sack their underperforming manager and install a new one just as we are about to play them. Therefore the Chelsea’s players will be giving an extra 10%. As if our job wasn’t tough enough.
If we had been sitting in The Steve Bull, I’d have put a message up on the big screen.
This will do nicely for now though.
A touch of class from The Wolves.
The tide is turning. Keep the faith. Stay with the team.
We were awful against Crawley. I honestly don’t know where our next point is coming from.
Stamford Bridge.
Termorra.
Evil C has spoked
Ha!!
Hope you’re right.
We weren’t that bad v Crawley. Even Coady scored in a 2-1 EFL cup win in Aug 2016. Good memory though.
Haha. Losing it!!!
Typo!!
It was Chorley, Crawley beat We all F——g Hate Leeds 3-0 !!!!!
It is difficult to imagine anything other than a defeat after that awful display on Friday.
We definitely need 3 (5)at the back and pack the midfield. We might catch them on the break and sneak a goal but that is probably wishful thinking.
Hope I’m wrong but I can only see a defeat.
We are closer on points to Chelsea than Fulham, so we can start to go upwards with the right attitude. and maybe a bit of luck. Normally the smoke has been a happy hunting ground, but guess given our current form, maybe not this time. After the CFC game it will herald our new dawn. New striker, Poddy close to a return, Jonny back in training…. lots to look forward to.
Go with 5 at the back, tighten up on the sloppy passes and grind out a point. CFC are still full of the egos and playing style from Frank so still have the same flaws. Personally I don’t care if its not pretty and defensive, but let’s grind out a result and then onto our new dawn.
Agree Marny this bad run has to end some time why not at Chelsea if we can keep it to 0.0 at half time I think we have a chance of nicking it not bothered how we play if we get a result.
Just watched the first half of Crystal Palace v West Ham. Palace could/should be 4 down at half-time.
As long as Woy doesn’t get the sack before the weekend I can see our next 3 points arriving and the start of our climb back up the table.
OODCL
Yep, trouble is Sandwell were absolute shite for most of the season and still put 3 past us. In our current form we are finding new and inventive ways to implode in games. Hopefully the clean sheet we kept at Chorley represents a small turning of the tide.
My late father first took me to Molineux in 1971 – exactly 50 years ago.
I have been a Wolves supporter all of my life, and a season ticket holder, through the worst of times to Nuno’s excellence.
I am a pragmatist – I neither eulogise a win, nor doom and gloom a defeat.
I expect constructive criticism on this blog, and not verbal abuse if you disagree with my views.
I repeat my last post, anyone that believes the performance against Chorley was acceptable is either in denial or delusional. It was simply abject, 1 shot on target all match against non-league, part-timers. We had to be saved John Ruddy on at least 4 occasions.
The reasons behind this are self-evident. 1) Injuries to key players in a small squad. 2) Sale of proven goal-scorers. 3) Deputies that at least for the time being are not up to it.
We are equally desperate for the return of Marcal + Johnny as we are for Raul. Our current wing-backs are at best inconsistent. Cutrone has huge question marks hanging over him, and Fabio’s first touch is awful I’m afraid. I only hope that Moutinho’s form is just a blip and he is not coming to the end of his career. I fear we will need an in-form Willian Jose immediately if we are to avoid a relegation battle.
As to the match versus Chelsea we have to hope that without Frank they are in total disarray, and not bursting a gut to prove themselves to the new manager. Hopefully Nuno will return to the tried and tested back 3.
I hate to say this but I believe the best we can achieve is a 0-0 or 1-1 draw, though of course we all dream of much better.
This could be the new Chelsea managers last game in charge. Chelsea 0 Wolves 8.
Love it cheese your glass ant half full its overflowing .
More in hope than anything I’m going for a draw. The team selection – and formation – will be crucial I feel. Hopefully Silva will be on the bench as much for his own sake as anything else.
OODCL
I am concerned that Chelsea will get that new manager bounce…
I must say I’m enjoying Man City’s performance tonight more than I usually might.
We can pull this out of the bag. I have a good feeling about this game.
Statistics show that ‘new manager bounce’ is, in fact, a myth so no worries there. As Thomas says we need a performance like the Old Trafford one and if we can do that I see no reason why we can’t come away with a point.
We’re the ‘odd goal losers’.
Another shock here I think. 0-2 to wolves… why not?
For this game I am actually hoping for the same performance that I was severely criticizing a couple of months ago,– a boring, solid, nil-nil at half-time! !I What ever happens in the second half, happens!
A back three for me, including Killman, and 5 in the midfield including Saiss for Moutino. No Cutrone or Fabio for this game.
I was dreaming the other day, and I thought that if Fosun could have squeezed a measly extra 10 million pounds, we could have bought Bruno instead of Fabio!!
Hoping to a compact performance, no early goals, no mistakes, no poor VAR decisions and some good luck for a change! Not asking for much, right!!
Talking of VAR …. Lee Mason is on it tonight. That’s him. The one who Nuno said was not fit to referee..
Oh dear! That’s why it sometimes pays to zip the lip.
I spotted that too Cheesey….
That’s VAR decisions up the creek…….
Yes. Be prepared for dive by a Chelsea player which isn’t a penalty given as a penalty and a trip on Pedro Neto which is a penalty resulting in no penalty and a yellow card for diving.
A draw is the best I can see us getting here but predicting Chelskee 2 – 0 Wolves
Have low expectations… but then I saw a friend today who is a Geordie
He knew their result whilst I had game recorded …but I knew he was depressed( and he didn’t tell me the score)
By that standard we are top 6
I just want to see us play well
Solid effective inventive
Won’t be enough but let’s get back to passing to right shirt and repelling invaders
Delighted to read.of new signing … but guess it will be 2/3 games before he is available
I keep
Saying it
OODCL
Fully agree with you on your choice for a team. We need to steady the ship defensively first. I still do not expect us to win (and whenever I say that, the Wolves go all out to prove me wrong).
The last few games have not inspired me to predict anything else other than a loss.
I am feeling about as confident about the result as our players seem to be in their performance
I would support those who pointed out that the two strikers we used against Chorley had very little support. As for Silva, it seems that many still recognise his potential; receiving the ball with his back to the goal, coming quickly at knee height and with two or three opposition players crowding him……
But playing two strikers and no wingers was pointless. I think that game was a one off, but at least we’re in the next round, and Southampton are beatable. But only Neto really has that wow factor among our players at the moment, the rest all have their weaknesses. I can’t predict a defeat, although it looks likely. Whether due to new manager bounce, or managerless, proving a point, top players often perform much better having got the previous manager sacked.
So, as our players also need to show some pride after woeful performances against WBA and Chorley, I can only hope that we get one of those vintage wins against the odds (which should be very tempting). Fabio to score !
For all his inconsistencies you seem to be suggesting that Adama doesn’t have the wow factor. Clearly, different things wow different people.
That’s right. He was great last season, and when he came on the excitement was tremendous, and we could expect fireworks. Although I don’t agree with those who say he doesn’t care, I do think he’s fed up with being messed about, starts and subs, different positions, crosses not seized, having his arm wrenched, or getting scythed down. Maybe his wow factor is in abeyance until he is fitted into the right conditions.
We are Wolves
Always produce when not expected to
Hope that whatever has been affecting team spirit is resolved but will be glad when transfer window is shut
totally depends which team in blue decends on the black country tonight although I don’t think they’ve played badly this season.
Wolves 1 chelski 2
Not expecting anything tonight. The best we con hope for is a draw.
It would be great to see a return to a back three of Bolly, Coady & Killman with the tried and trusted, if fit in front of them.
Sadly it seems that Mutinho’s age as finally caught up with and it looks as though he needs a rest. Otasowie any one?
I’d like to see more of Otasowie, maybe as a substitute in future matches. But Moutinho, lost it at 30 whatever ? surely not, he’d been ‘bossing games’ a couple of weeks ago. Against Chorley it was more like ‘What on earth am I doing here, on this potty little football pitch?’ He’ll be fine again back at Molineux.
and at Stamford Bridge !
I don’t like myself for finding joy in others’ misfortune but . . . . . .
. . . . . has anyone else noticed that the Baggies could concede 100 goals this season?
48 in 20 games so far.
Come on you Baggies, you can do it!!!!
:0)
‘… finding joy in others’ misfortune’
The Germans have a word for that – well, they would wouldn’t they ?
If todays write up from Nuno is anything to go by, Jose is destined to sit on the bench much like Cutrone.
Nuno as given an interview saying, “Silva is Amazing”
I have to agree, I think he’s amazing too, never seen a £35 m player fluff so many lines in my life.
Nuno knows best???
He proved me wrong on Doherty, so why not Silva.(not holding my breath)
Management is a results business (ask Frank Lampard) and with the see-saw position that we are in I can’t see Nuno making Jose a bench sitter for any length of time if at all. Fosun can be ruthless and the next few games will be a big pointer for the remainder of the season.
MIT.
My apologies for neglecting to put the “wind up alert on my post”
Tongue in cheek buddy.
Tongue in cheek.
It is the Express and Slur, and they did give Tim Spiers a job, so take it with a pinch of salt.
https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2021/01/27/just-fab-silva-is-amazing-boss-nuno/
Hoping for a draw as we tend to lift against the more fancied sides.
Surely five at the back and score at least one on the counter.
Looks like he is going to play 4 at the back and the prince up front stu.
Spotted that myself Spikey, recipe for disaster methinks. But, this is Wolves and this is the craziest season ever, so as Lowves says, “Who Knows, Nuno Knows”
Wolves till we die.
Not our day I’m afraid…
Never mind about Wolves and their current run of form, pity poor Liverpool. Where will their next points come from? Now sitting at a lowly 5th in The Premier . This is a National Disaster, nay, an International Disaster . All of those injuries ! Oh dear!
As for tonight, I do not want to see Traore, sitting on his backside, arms outstretched, appealing to the referee. I want to see him moving about, looking for the ball and getting in faces, but not trying to dribble his way out of our half. After Nuno’s outburst, there is no chance of any marginal decisions going our way, so no falling over in the penalty area please.
Of our outfield players, Saiis is the only one who can meet a cross with any heading accuracy, with the possible exception of Boly.
Sending Dendonker up is not the answer.
Will Frank Lampards Chelsea be distracted by having to apply for a name change, or will the players all find that little bit extra that a new manager often sees?
I would have been confident going into this game but with the new boss in the dugout it has become all the more difficult.
Where will our goals come from?
Will the defence be more solid?
Will the midfield wake up?
Anything is possible, of course. Will we steal victory – why not.
I`m just relieved we are not playing Man City tonight, thought they were exceptional at the Hawthornes. I`m hoping that the new manager hasn`t had the time to effect how Chelsea play, or change the poor results they have been getting.
Brown underpants last 30 minutes – can wolves hang on for the 3 points with Neto`s early goal to be the winner. Not putting any money on it though……
I guess the Chelsea players will be out to impress their new boss. That said, a point or three would be a nice late birthday present for Nuno. Our boys need to dig deep.
Let’s shake off these January blues!
Bound to keep a clean sheet sometime.
Forecasting tonight’s game feels a bit like picking numbers for the lottery, there are just too many variables to arrive at anything like a logical conclusion. History doesn’t help either, down the years we’ve seen heavy defeats both ways and goalless draws in the middle.
I’m hoping for three at the back and for slightly better fortune than recently up front – Dendonker has to hit the target eventually doesn’t he? Perhaps Fabio will show us that Nuno is right about him. We can also hope that in this case new manager bounce turns out to be very similar to dead cat bounce.
Without any justification whatsoever I’m plumping for a win, a close but much needed one.

I hope it’s about our performance not which Chelski turns up, although a divided home dressing room could be fun.
I doubt we will get anything out of this but I’m going to hope (that which kills) for a draw.
Above all, I want to see a team that performs as a team and excites us again.
It’s so difficult is this..
Chelsea playing well… we’re not…
They’ve got no injury issues … we do..
Chelski fav to win … we’re fav to lose.
Lawro predicts we’ll lose…..
Lee Mason is the VAR maestro tonite.
The omens are therefore…
A sneaky backs to the wall, grind out a win ugly ……
This new manager bounce will mean buggar all tonight….. other than confuse them…
Breaking news on Sky….
Jose has travelled to Chelsea and He CAN play.
3 at the back is a must
Team news in….
Jose on the bench.. Podence playing….
I think same as when Chelsea were at the Mol….
Nothing for us to fear…
Strong bench too…
Thomas.
Can I change my prediction. 🙂
3 at the back stu
Five in attack.
New Wolverhampton Are we on the way back.?
Me too please Thomas lol
Much more confident having seen the team. Been going between head (draw) & heart (win) all day.
We have to pick our game up & improve. No reason that can’t start tonight.
Jose to get the winner off the bench.

Bloody hell Podence is playing! Smokescreens or what? Come on me babbies!
Great plus Jose on the bench.
COMBs!
Expecting Chelsea to dominate possession and we will need to score twice to get anything which is unlikely. Hope I am wrong.
Nearly a point at Old Trafford think we might just tease out a draw tonight.
Anyone else on this blog, pissed off with the totally bias’d BT commentary.
Who are Chelsea playing tonight, sorry Thomas Tuchel.
The scene is set for Willian (Jose) to come on and shock the buggers.
Yes Stu me…. Unbelievably bias
Yes me. Hoddle worst ever pundit?
Uninspiring
Poor..
I think we need a midfield before any striker we buy will get a chance to score
Careful Floyd , you’ll upset the snowflakes!
I will take that, not pretty but a clean sheet and a point. Stats will say CFC all over us, but we hit the bar and Donk should have scored.
Happy in Marnhull tbh
I am happy with that point tbh. Worked hard I thought. Commentary was a joke, just expecting Chelsea to win, nothing else.
We move on.
Yes, that Ian Darke and of course boring old Hoddle, just would not stop yapping, I was shouting shut up throughout. Great to get the point anyway, I was less nervous we’d concede than against Chorley.
Delighted if only to shut up those boring commentators.
Probably not the best game to commentate on. We’ve enjoyed our team showing grit, determination and discipline which has been missing, we’ve enjoyed shutting Chelsea out with their fancy dans and trendy manager but we’re Wolves fans . Any neutrals might have switched off but we don’t care, a point gained and our big number 9 got in the way of a goalbound 93rd minute winning goal. Good job Big Bill!
What annoyed me? BT cameras focussing on faces when the action was going on.
I think anyone on the Blog would have taken a point away at Chelsea tonight. True it wasn’t thrilling but was certainly ‘back to basics’. Just what we needed to stop the rot and grind our way to 38/40 points. In fact many on the blog said just that after the Albion game. Back 3. Defensive discipline and the odd chance or 2 ourselves. Well chuffed. Well done the lads.
Tough to watch but absolutely delighted with a clean sheet and a valuable point.
Jose looked pretty good when he came on and he should be a real handful against Palace at the weekend. Onwards and upwards !
What an excellent point that was. Well done Wolves.
I am celebrating like a doubly incontinent sandwell resident.
A CLEAN SHEET!
Bet there will be no clean sheets after celebrating a birthday tonight though!!!
Oops Red Card!
No comments about how Villa gave away 3 points?
yes when you live where sutton and i live the vile losing and losing to lowly burnley is like a sunny day.
who gives a shit about flash in the pan vile WOLVES ARE BACK !!!! YES
Excellent defensive performance and certainly not pretty but needs must. A clean sheet and an invaluable point will build confidence. Back 3 really good and Semedo had his best defensive game yet for us. Jose header right at the death illustrated what we have also being missing defensively from our strikers. Well done Nuno and the team, a baby step of progress.
Netto is fabulous
I need a drink
Delighted with a clean sheet and a hard earned point tonight. Not pretty to watch but a solid team performance and Jose made a promising debut – he will be a handful for the Palace defence at the weekend. He also saved us the point with a great blocking header off that 94th minute corner!
Onwards and upwards!
OODCL
That brings an end to a bad run. Things are looking up players returning and a new striker who can score goals and defend.
We did what we had to do to stop the rot that was the first step tonight well done to the boys they stuck in there who knows come the end of the season we might look back on this game as a turning point.
