Visits to Stamford Bridge seldom end happily for Wolves, hence why I’m weighing up whether the timing of this fixture will benefit Ståle Solbakken.

In our three previous visits, all in the Premier League, we’ve been on the end of 4-0, 2-0 and 3-0 losses.
Our manager has already shown his hand by naming a squad that excludes many of the players that started on Saturday.
We’ll go there, play a second-string (as our opponents will) and not fret too much about the result. That’s a sensible approach.
While in many respects it would have been interesting to see what questions our best eleven could ask of Chelsea reserves, getting a pasting could drastically effect the confidence of a team beginning to find it’s feet.
As it is, whatever the result tonight we can restore the first team against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and pick up where we left off at Peterborough.
I don’t need to tell you anything about Chelsea. European Champions, top of the Premier League, lots of talented players. Their ‘reserves’ will include the likes of Victor Moses, Ryan Bertrand and maybe even one or both of Frank Lampard and John Terry, who were left out against Stoke at the weekend.
Wolves
So we know the Wolves team will consist of: De Vries, Ikeme, Stearman, Zubar, Foley, Margreitter, Batth, Davis, Edwards, Jonsson, Price, Forde, Peszko, Ismail, Hunt, Boukari, Nouble, Sigurdarson.
This would be the team I’d pick from that lot:

I think like most supporters I’d love to see a glimpse of Ismail, but I doubt he’ll actually start at Stamford Bridge. More likely to come off the bench.
Somebody told me Saturday that Hunt is prepared to play at left-back so will be interesting to see if he’s selected there tonight.
Predictions
When we played Northampton in the cup a few weeks back I was inundated with emails from people asking why their Prediction League points hadn’t been added.
To be clear: There are no Prediction League points on the line for cup games.
So, just for fun, I’ll go for a narrow loss – 2-0.
It’s a shame that our chances of progressing in this competition seem to be constantly hampered by difficult fixtures at early stages. To get Man Utd twice, Man City and now Chelsea in the last four years is desperately unlucky.
But if we can stay organised and get a bit of luck, who knows?
Up The Wolves.

Well, if we’re playing a second-string team then we have little to no chance really, but the league is more important to us right now! 4-1 loss
I’ll plump for a 3-1 loss, but certainly not all doom and gloom.
im going for a 2-1 win for wolves aet, i think we might just have a little edge. also has the prediction league been updated from saturdays result? if so i am a point short. thanks up the wolves!
Its a shame that you fans cant even see your team winning! its all good everybody cant be a winner. I will like to see my reserve team tear you team apart tonight.
Bus stop in London
You’re just a bus stop in London
It’s an even bigger shame that you have to come onto a quality blog site and try to wind us up.
What’s the matter? Havent you transposed shit fans got one of your own?
Hi shangs. It looks like you haven’t quite come to terms with a keyboard yet. It’s a bit of a learning curve but stick at it and you never know!
Can’t see us scoring more than one or stopping them scoring less than 2 so going for a 3 – 0 Chelski victory!! Only glimmer we have is to try and hit them on break with pace of Siggy and Nouble.
Maybe we ought to look at this more as an opportunity to improve match fitness of fringe players rather than opportunity to progress in the competition. It also gives some of the youngsters a chance to be involved and possibly to impress.
Next weekend much more important.
I see my darling club ChelseaFC win 5-0
Sit down fakk off
Have you got a crystal ball?
Or are you just pleased to see me.
I can’t work out whether you are another non-English Chelsea supporter, sorry follower, or just another keyboard neophyte numpty?
‘my darling club’?!?!?…. you spout complete drivel.
SMALL PIECE OF BUTTER !!!
This is the first time I’ve posted on this blog! I’ve been reading them since last season, definitely the best and most intelligent Wolves blog around. I’ve supported the Wolves since I was a sprog back in the 60’s and was a regular in the old North bank in the 70’s before I moved down south. Back near the Midlands now and getting to the occasional match.
I rate Solbakken and I reckon given time he and the team will do really well. Wise decision to go for a second string selection tonight and keep the winning mentality going in the league where it really counts.
We’ll probably lose tonight but I think we’ll score so I’m going for 3-1 to Chelsea, but we’ll be back on track on Saturday.
Welcome Steve 🙂
Why are we getting cockneys on here? Opposition fans don’t normally come trolling on this site.., maybe the plastic wankers don’t have enough blogs of their own as they only had 3 fans till roman polanski bought them in the pick n mix section at harrods.
Difficult to know what to predict here, I’d love nouble to give STS a selection headache with a brace, so I’ll go for 2-2 …
Last time I remember opposition fans trolling on here was just before Wolves vs Albion in our second PL season… and then we won 3-1!
3-2 to the Wolves, Zele comes on in the last 30 and scores an heroic hat-trick!
4-2 Chelsea (2-2 at half time with the ressies playing – but Chelsea will bring on Terry and Lampard and the game will be lost)
Does any one know which hotel the team are stopping in for the chelsea game
Once again, I will have to force myself to goof off work to listen to the commentary.
My boss is a real bastard so if I’m caught I may get fired. ( I’m self employed!)
Prediction? With Ward out anything can happen, so Chelsea 0 Wolves 2
I’ve also realized why there are so many trolls from other clubs poncing around our site. Jealousy. Thats all.
Well, welcome if you have something intelligent and constructive to say, ………….and bollocks to the rest of you!!
FOwb
Where do you listen to games. Was tryin bbc and such sat but no joy
I go to the official sanitized web site, and open Wolves Player.
You have to be a member, or steal your best mate’s ID and password…..not that I would dream of such a thing!
Chelsea win 2-0
Stale had a lot of experience at Copenhagen getting good results against top teams in the champions league. Remember Pep Guardiola once famously said they were the best organised side he had played in his time at Barca.
Could he pull off another shock tonight? He joked about repeating the 0-0 draw he had at Chelsea then and this time winning on pens. It’s possible, so i’m going for a win on penalties aet.
Let’s be realistic..
They may have an off day.
And we might win
1-2 to Wolves.
2-0 Chelsea. Good performance but Chelski to have a bit too much power for us (plus the usual biased referee!)
Good selection for the starting 11 Thomas. It would be a great time to see how Hunt plays at LB because if he is good enough it offers up another choice. As for the predictions – I haven’t got a clue but I just hope we play well enough to be holding our heads up at the end.
Another good reason to play Hunt is because Chelsea hate him or does everyone think Cech’s headware is a fashion accessory ?
you never know they may have an off day and we might win..
1-2 to Wolves
Wolves win on Penalties.
As there are no points at stake I’m not going to bother with a prediction.
But if I did it would be 3-1 to the team owned by one of the richest men in the world who has spent years of his life and squillions of his own ill-gotten dosh in a desperate attempt to buy success.
I’ll leave you all to guess who I mean.
3-2 to the Wolves fringe in a end to end crackerjack. Come on me little beauties.
Chelsea 5 – Wolves 0
I live in Chelsea and cannot go to the match because of ‘commitments’.
Shame as tickets are pretty cheap.
‘C’est la vie” as some of our cosmopolitan players might say.
My prediction is:
Chelski- 0 Wolves- 6
A hat-trick from Siggy, one from Nouble and two for Ismail..
Just for fun…3-2 to Wolves!
Scary we have to convert another attacking player to left back. Serious issues with depth I think. Surely we can pick up some kinda half decent cover for the long season! Also I would like to welcome our Chelsea friends to the blog…. Nice to see Internet access in play schools across the counrtry/ world these days!! I’m sure they’ll be back shouting on city or utd later this year or next , whatever jersey they happen to get in the market from mummy !
No prediction league points at stake and a rare opportunity to agree with CFH so 2 0 Wolves
1 -1 after 90 mins…….To be honest l’d be thrilled to still be in the game going into the 2nd half .
Still , nothing to lose and Nouble going back to the club that let him leave . When that happens to us ……!!
why are my posts not getting shown ????
you have done it again ! whats the problem !
2-1 wolves goals from siggy and big frank ! CLACK !
According to interweb the match will be streamed, a rare and welcome opportunity for me checking out Wolves’ fringe players as well as some of the new signings, I’ve only read of thus far.
Believe me, even if I’m far away (“follower” if you must), I know the drill – we can get everything between getting stuffed 5-0, a heroic defeat or a shocking win. The league is far more important, that’s no brainer, but I wouldn’t resist a 2-2 draw and a sneaky win after ET/penalties.
Let’s hope we all have fun watching this one, cheers!
I always knew Hunt is a lefty fullback :=)
1-1 and a rematch at Molineux
No replays here, I think, those are for the FA Cup – blame the English for having all these different rules 🙂
1-0 Chelski
Cahill after a Zubar foul
2-0 after 7 minutes
2-0 now, I’m glad this isn’t streamed after all.
Naaaah, I’ve had enough of that s.h.i.t.e the last season.
Can we go home already?
Saturday’s prediction: Wolves 3 Owls 0
By any standards this is shocking..
4 down after 50 mins.
Are we actually playing ? or just there to admire the champions of Europe.
Didn’t Liverpool want De vires…
Let him go on a free I say..
We are the biggest fools for keeping him..
We are murdering them, they have just had 6 lucky breakaways.
BOARD OUT, MOXEY OUT NOW!!
Well, we’re getting bummed by Chelsea 6-0: please mighty Chelsea, no more! Only 1 sub left to play, could it hurt to bring Ismail on for a bit?
