How much brighter is everyone’s outlook after back-to-back victories?

Old gold confidence is higher than it’s been for a while as we approach 2016 closer to the play-offs than the relegation zone.
In what may hopefully be a metaphor for the season, a largely forgettable first 45 minutes was followed by a much improved second half with Wolves running out comfortable victors.
On a sunny winter’s afternoon in South London there were more than just the unseasonable conditions for a sizable travelling support to enjoy.
At the back, Wolves built on a clean-sheet at Reading with another solid performance.
Carl Ikeme will certainly have busier afternoons this season, and if Batth and Ebanks-Landell continue to cut out the defensive errors, any January recruits might find it more difficult to break into the starting XI than would have been predicted only a few weeks back.

Charlton, admittedly missing several influential players including one time Wolves target Gudmundsson, created very little in the way of goal-scoring opportunities.
Much of the credit for this must go to the industrious Connor Coady who completed a second full 90 minutes in three days yet never stopped running.
What was most impressive was as well as providing the expected defensive cover, his lung-busting runs often saw him supporting Afobe as the most advanced of the central midfield trio.
After an impressive start to his Wolves’ career, his form seemed to desert after that sending off against Brighton. Continuing to perform at this level for the remainder of the season would do nicely.
It seems impossible to review any game at present without praising Jordan Graham, and today was no exception.
As well as providing yet another assist, the winger remained composed to score his first Wolves goal after good work from Afobe on the right. Hopefully the first of many to come.
Looking out over the numerous tower cranes and construction works as the overground service transported us back north of the river, you couldn’t help hope (dangerous thing for a Wolves fan) we too can build on some encouraging foundations.

OK, I only listened to the match commentary on Wolves Player, but we seemed to give a much more positive display than recently. Good pressure high up the pitch. Better cover for the defence from the midfielders. Graham again terrorizing the opposition. However, I must temper my optimism with the realisation that we were playing Charlton, who are having a somewhat disappointing season, to say the least. It’ll be a much sterner test on Friday.
Still, three points is three points and we’re back in the top half.
I’ve read the speculation about Mr Ding and I have a theory.
People within the club would obviously know more about what’s going on behind the scenes than is forthcoming to the general public. It’s often said that instability at the top is bound to manifest itself on the pitch as players and coaches worry more about their own futures and less about turning in the performances we would all like to see.
I feel the last two games have shown us a new, previously unseen, resilience in our team. Is it possible that they know something that we don’t. That the future of the club is settled. Money for strengthening will be forthcoming and those that don’t perform at 110% could find themselves pushed into the shadows.
The acid test for me will be whether we keep Afobe and Graham through the upcoming window. I don’t feel either one will be looking to move on if they feel the club will have the resources to become truly upwardly mobile. And a new, ambitious owner will certainly not want to lose either.
We can only wait and see….and hope.
Looks like Norwich will sign Naismith from Everton so less likely they will be in for Afobe. We need to tie Graham down to a new contract, extension, whatever.
Hope you are right about new owner – Ding Lei – Dingley – not convinced but it certainly has a ring about it.
Our attacking play has improved greatly since J. Grahams arrival. The defence on the other hand still remains fragile. The opposition always creates a lot of chances against us.
We’ll probably lose Afobe. Graham stays. Zyro joins when the window opens. We’re linked with Shef wed’s french defender Dielna: http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/808845922?-300:786:1
and a left back from Bolton: Moxey
We’re also linked with several sentral central forwards.
I strongly believe we’re leaving january rather strengthened than weakened. The new players will however need time to gel :=(
A nice platform for January where we have to strengthen.
Ideally Williamson, a left back (unlikely) and a pacy striker (or two of Afobe goes).
I’d also like to see KMac in the No.10 with Price and Coady behind.
Edwards and EBL need to be dropped in my opinion as they aren’t good enough to take us to the next level.
And as for Graham, give him a new contract he will only get better. All credit to him for taking his chance. This years break out star.
Ikeme
Iorfa Batth Williamson ?
Coady KMac Price
Byrne Afobe Graham
?
I think if we can get the right players in there is a slim chance of the play offs still but it all depends on who we sign. Despite two victories, the current team without improvements isn’t a top six side.
No place for Zyro ? My guess is that he will be played in Edwards role behind Afobe, assuming the latter is not sold.
John – EEL was one of our stand-out players at Charlton, better than Batth too.
On the basis that Afobe is going (and am convinced he is and gave his farewells to the fans at the end yesterday) I would like to see:
Ikeme
Iorfa, Batth or EEL, ???, Golbourne
Coady, McDonald
Zyro, ???, Graham
???
Subs; McCarey, Hause or Doherty, Batth or EEL, Byrne, Price, ??? (Striker), ??? (Striker)
So 4 new players needed in addition to Zyro in my opinion. I’d settle for Williamson at the back. The ‘no.10’ role is harder to fill – someone clever, skilful, creative and able to score (the opposite of Edwards in other words). Two new strikers of which I like the look of Conor Washington from Peterborough and I’d settle for Crouch on loan as the other.
Great result, been there and know it’s not an easy trip so fair play to so many fans showing up , a draw at Brighton???
I predicted a 2-0 and we got it. Another clean sheet,OK against a side who’s confidence is low too,but who cares a win is a win and that’s all that counts.
Brighton up next and I think this one could be a bit more tricky.
A draw will do for me,that will a good return from from 3 matches.
Keep up the good work, and as hard as it may be ,we need some new blood.
I just want people on here to take note, when Nathan Byrne came on he stepped the play up another gear and that really kicked Addicks into touch. He was the best he’s been to date. A positve for the future.
Iv’e re-posted Bedford Wolf’s previous post below, it’s worth further discussion.
Bedford Wolf says:
December 29, 2015 at 11:21 AM (Quote)
Good morning all, William Ding Lei here (or am I a Reuben brother?). Anyway no matter as I have just bought the club with a 100% shareholding and would like to get your views on my initial decisions which are as follows;
Jez Moxey sacked immediately and replaced by someone who understands finance AND football and who also has vision and ambition.
Kenny Jackett to remain as manager at least till the end of the season .
Loan deals for Martinez, Ojo and Le Fondre to be terminated forthwith.
The following players to be sold or, if they can’t be sold yet, loaned out in January:
Henry, Edwards, Saville, Rowe, Wallace, McAlinden, Sigurdasson
The manager to be given £25m plus any money generated by the above sales to buy a centre back, an attacking central midfielder (the no.10 role) and two strikers. All signings must be Premier League standard.
Afobe will NOT be sold.
Next season our kit will revert to proper old gold and we will wear the Wolverhampton city crest on our shirts.
This season the aim will be to finish as high as we can, hopefully the play-offs and promotion and if not promoted then next season the aim is to win the Championship.

A very fair appraisal. My only change would be to install a new head coach immediately, so that any new signings are not contaminated by tactical and team selection shortcomings, which could seriously damage their confidence. Presumably the new owner must already have his own plans already firmly fixed — would anyone seriously contemplate spending millions to acquire the club, then leaving Mr. Jacket in charge of the team. ? Surely not.
Mike.
As Ding Lei would say.
Ot rather, Confucius
,
“Man with no Balls, seldom get erected to orifice”
Lets not get carried away. We were outplayed by Reading yet got a very undeserved victory, and Charlton were very poor. The points give us some breathing space, but the basic problems have certainly not gone away.
Our defense is woeful, particularly the center backs. Decent teams will continue to exploit this weakness to our major detriment, so that the signing of an experienced central defender is surely vital if we are to survive at this level. A similarly experienced left back would be an added bonus
Talk of climbing the table and challenging for a play off place is surely very premature, particularly when we have a coach who is so tactically inept.
Agree that Charlton were poor and that we’re short of the quality needed for promotion this season. Equally I can’t see us being dragged into a relegation fight however.
The defence is an interesting one as up until this season under Jackett this had been a major strength. I think EBL has the raw ingredients (pace, power, not bad on the ball) to be a good centre-back. His mistakes in the main are down to positioning from what I’ve seen, which hopefully will improve with experience (similarly to Iorfa who although better still gets caught-out of position). If the finances aren’t being made available to Jackett to sign better players, he has to develop players from the academy.
I’m a big fan of Jackett so must disagree that he is tactically inept. However, I do think he tends to make changes too late, and often too reactive (for example, Forest at home, when you could see their equaliser on the cards for at least 15 minutes).
I can`t agree with your assessment of EEL. He may have some attributes, but is far to error prone. We do not have the luxury to accommodate this at the heart of what is a very young defensive back line.
But, by far the most serious consequence of playing EEL, is the massive detrimental effect this has on the performance of Bath. For the past two years when playing alongside an experienced vocal partner in Stearman, Bath played consistently well, and seemed to be realizing his undoubted potential. Similarly, when recently paired with the equally vocal Williamson, Baath`s performance level escalated markedly. In both cases he was the junior partner. But when paired with the inexperienced EEL Baath seems to fall to pieces. He is not ready to be the senior partner in the center of the defense. He needs to be yelled at and guided, and not be the one expected to do the yelling and giving instruction.
My take is that the continuing selection of EEL, is seriously damaging Baath`s general confidence, resulting in his considerable loss of form. Baath surely has the greater potential of the two, and it must be a big mistake to put at risk his longer term contribution to the club by continuing to force him into a role for which he is patently unsuited.
I don’t know why KJ doesn’t give the captaincy to KMac to ease the pressure on Batth.
I think this EEL v Batth discussion is a bit more chicken and egg than your comments would indicate Mike. I don’t recall seeing EEL playing alongside Williamson, but that could easily have raised EEL’s game just like it seemed to raise Danny’s. I feel that what doesn’t work is two such inexperienced defenders alongside each other.(Which brings us back to Stears, of course). Either of them playing alongside a Williamson lookalike could well serve our purposes just fine.
And then there’s Kortney Hause who I feel is better than either of them.
WS, you’ve just summed Baath up for me.He needs to be carried and when that doesn’t happen he panics. He’s slow ,cumbersome and imo,League 1 standard at best.
Very interesting that in this second game our fitness appeared to be significantly above that of Charlton.
Not sure we have ever seen that as a “calling card” of ours, and not sure if we have ever discussed our training as better than other teams.
As I am in the US I can only follow most of the games online or via Wolves Player….would love to get feedback on this from some of you that can actually SEE the games…
Motown,
Your’e on the right track here, (see what I did there, Motown, right track) Iv’e been questioning that one myself for most of this season and the end part of last.
When Kenny Jackett took over at Molineux he made a point of saying how the new Academy was the dogs Gonads and having Tony Daley there as fitness Guru gave us that edge over teams in the last few minutes of games. “The Manchester United factor”, play for 94 / 96 minutes and win the day through superior fitness. In the main it was evident, we seemed to run around like whirling dervishers all game and still had something in the tank at the end of games.
So what has gone wrong now?
Edwards who could turn in an unbelievable shift and still give interviews at the end.
Afobe last season ran his buns off all game and was screaming to receive the ball, head dropped and knackered at the end of yesterday’s game.
Dicko, goes for a very simple ball at the South bank and pulls up damaging his knee enough to put him out of the reckoning for the whole season.
Kortney Hause, 18 year old, built like a race horse running down the wing and buggers his leg up.
Mike Williamson, turns in a good shift whilst with us, first training session back at Newcastle buggers his leg up.
Is it the “training”, ( and I use that word loosely) because I don’t see much evidence on the pitch of any form of training, which should be built around a planned regime or strategy, how come all these super fit guys are going down with the injuries they are and don’t appear to be as fit as they were. Teams are learning all they have to do is run at us and we’re snookered, we just can match their turn of speed now.
Nathan Byrne came on fresh legged yesterday and he was embarrassing his team mates for speed and winning the ball off the opposition on many occassions.
So I am really concerned with what has happened to Kenny’s “Super fit players”. Anyone else noticed these points.
🙂 ????
Very well put Mike – however against Reading a steward came up to us and said new Chinese owners were in present and watching the game and he seemed very genuine and not a p…-take. We shall wait and see…………
To back up paulsawolf.
My son who lives in Inverness was on a website and the web in China is carrying this story.
“Ding Lei China’s 10 richest man has said he is interested in buying Wolverhampton Wanderers”
I predicted 2 0 win, I was there in the east stand with the Charlton fans, reacted when graham scored got told to hush down by supporters and stewards, when we got the 2nd most of the people around me had gone and the stewards didn’t seem to care so good win clean sheet 3 points!
I’m at Brighton next and another away seat so should be interesting!
It’s a lot more fun being in with opposition fans when we win!
What was the support from the Wolves end like from where you were sat? It was only my second away game of the season – was impressed by the turn-out.
1,881 Wolves fans at Charlton, fabulous atmosphere. Sold out 3,000 allocation for West Ham. There no more loyal, passionate or vocal fans anywhere than Wolves fans.
This is a guy we sent scouts to watch yesterday against Rangers, he scored again on cue. We were told about him by the guys that travel on the Wolves team bus.
http://the72.co.uk/42976/wolves-interested-in-scottish-hot-shot-forward/
Abysmal first half against a third from bottom side but the signs were that we would score as we all predicted..
Jordan Graham was playing a blinder and K Mac was starting to thread some great balls..
I must say the support was out of sight and when we scored the first we were thankfully on our way..
It was not so much as us playing really well but they were really crap.. so when DB forced the own goal that was the writing on the wall …
Graham my man of the match KMac a close second..It was nice to see them win to say the least..
The buzz in the pub ..who’s the club buyer ..IMO if we are talking about it and picking up on info the players must be doing the same so I agree
there are a few individual performances coming..If our buyer puts enough money up with a PL strategy ..then who is going to be safe I wonder?
COYW
Let’s hope it’s not a false dawn
As others have mentioned, perhaps, although we do not know it, new owners are virtually in place…
It would certainly add some desire to their endeavours….
At least, relegation, seems less likely….
A long trip but well rewarded with the away win. Not exactly the late screamer we saw in the away Match last Christmas at Watford but great to see Wolves finally getting that elusive second goal that they seem to have been chasing for a number of matches. Still a lot of work to do mind as Charlton are certainly struggling currently.
Good turnout by our away support but there’s not that sense of anticipation amongst them that we have got used to over the last couple of seasons.
Concerning to see Afobe turn to the Wolves fans on the final whistle and applaud them on his own – his farewell perhaps, he also left the pitch first, again on his own. Seems to be a lot of uncertainty everywhere you look.
Just seen the highlights and the first thought that crossed my mind was how sick the Villa must be feeling now.
Fanny Craddock looks like he could become the complete winger to me.
The second thought was what a striking resemblance there is between New owner elect Ding Lei and one of the great Wolves stalwarts of the 60s and 70s, Sammy Chung.
Is this an omen?
Almost certainly not, but a man can dream can’t he?
Don’t go away, Ding Lei
We’d like you to stay Ding Lei
Go ahead, make my day Ding Lei!
Charlton are a very poor team. I expect Brighton to create and take 2 chances next match.
We need Stearman back, what a cretinous decision to sell. And another CB ; Batth not having a proper pre-season shows.
Oh and a like-for-like Dicko replacement: front man with pace to pull the oppo wide.
Agree with selling: Saville, Rowe, McAlinden, Sigurdarson (but I’d like to see him in the Dicko role just once). I like Henry and Edwards.
Foreign buyer? Anyone as long as they aren’t a war crinimal or a mafia connected oligarch.
Off topic but read that there is some billionaire Jordanian guy who is looking to buy a Premier League or Championship side.
He currently owns a large portion of a German team but is frustrated that he cannot dump more money into it.
Maybe Wolves will be to his liking.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/12067546/Jordanian-billionaire-Hasan-Abdullah-Ismaik-considering-buying-Premier-League-or-Championship-club.html
Tim
He’s the one we posted about a couple of blogs ago, he’s been to the Molineux already, so let’s hope he’s one of Moxey’s (credible) potential buyers. At least Jordanian’s tend to be a little more trustworthy and lean towards the Western world. Better option than the Kevin Muscat and Kerry Packers Grandson group.
So..being (totally) mercenary with a PL strategy..I virtually agree with Bedford to a carve up..
(All) goalies no..Golbourne no..EBL no..Hause review Doherty no Batth review Iorfa yes K Mac yes Price review Coady yes Henry review Graham yes Edwards review Afobe yes Dicko yes Byrne review..
ALF mc linden Ojo Wallace Saville Rowe bye bye
Sorry folks KJ no…..New Manager.(not coach)
We need £50M to rebuild a great goalie (we’ve always had really great ones) a back 2 to support Iorfa and DB a midfielder to support K Mac a right winger another striker (2 if Afobe goes) that’s 5 /6 new players…
Plus a new wage / bonus structure
Sorry again folks ..if Moxey has brokered / negotiated an owner with money that should put us back into the top half of the PL then he deserves to stay without team influence.Period.
To have a (real £50-£100M) punt at the PL we would all experience a true life changing Wolves experience and I for one would be grateful for that ..
‘…a great goalie (we’ve always had really great ones)…’
Steve, you must be too young to have seen Alan Boswell play !
Is true indeed .. I thought Gary Pierce was good ..Phil Parkes .. Murray ..our current lot knowhere near them ..
Let’s not forget Hennessy whose playing really well at Crystal Palace.
In fact, relative to the debate on training, managing etc at Wolves, the development of Hennessy and the regression of Ikeme speaks volumes….
For me Bradshaw and Murray were streets ahead of the rest.
It’s looking like it might be a good time to play Brighton for a change – no win in 5 and lost at home to Ipswich last night who we know are no world beaters. Dare we dream of 3 consecutive wins? Maybe even 3 consecutive clean sheets? Come on, let’s all be Freddie………..you were made for me!
KJ has done much better after Christmas in his first two seasons at Wolves so maybe, with a little help from a Lei or a couple of Reubens or an Abdullah, he might keep that record going?
Bedford your a softie ..
Steve Showcase, Bedford.
Only a couple of disputes with you guys.
I would keep Byrne, he has potential by the bucket load and at such an early
age he is cover for Zyro and Graham.
Kenny Jackett, now Colin, and rightly so will pull my leash here, I now think
maybe should be given the job until end of the season. If we get a big investor
he will have money for sure and that’s something he has not had any club he’s
been to I believe.
He has an eye for talent that’s for sure,
He gave us
Afobe,
Graham,
Byrne,
Donovan Wilson,
Korney Hause
Iorfa,
We are looking at people that some bloggers and ardent Wolves fan are also
looking at,such as,
Jason Cummings Hibs 15 goals this year.
Adam Aderson Coventry Top goal scorer in Div I ( Leon is 3rd with 10)
The Fench guy from Sheff Wednesday supposed to be a hot potato
The young Goalie from Manchester U, loads of clubs looking at him too
So if he had cash to spend maybe he could find us lots of Vardys out there.
Don’t all jump on me about the Savilles, Rowes, holts, Clarkes, RVLP as me old
mum said, “you have to kiss quite a few frogs before you find your prince”.
But in Kenny’s defence when they don’t perform, they are gone, then they end
up being as good as he originally thought they were at the lower levels.
So that’s some food for thought and something to debate.
I succumbed, me and Jen de Wolf will be at Brighton, must be Crackers,
But Wolves am we.
Anyone going to QPR, bear in mind they have the fromt 6 to 10 rows with
good viewing, then the rest are really crap, so get your tickets now and ask
them to hold them for you until your issue date, they will do this, on general
sale it will be the limited view tickets on offer.
🙂
Sam Johnstone the United goalie
Stu, I think you know that I agree with you about Kenny Jackett.
He’s done a good job with very limited funds.
At the very least he’s made £10m for the club on the Afobe deal.
If we get some money, give the man a chance and see what he can do.
In the words of the great Smokey Robinson:-
“I second that emotion.”
RIP Lemmy methinks, give my regards to John Lennon.
🙁
Yes, another legend gone.
I exchanged emails with my son about it.
I thought he summed it up pretty well when he said:-
“The World just got a lot quieter”.
Good to see the feel good factor coming back. Stu I am not going to rain on anybody’s parade in this weather.
You lot must be nut s if you want to get rid of kenny jackett .
He s a good footballing man
You do not become a bad manager over night
We ve had two great seasons under him after two consecutive relegations, now he’s having to steer a rudderless ship thanks to that no good scouse soppy love wet , five minuet wolves fan and on top of that we lost our most influential playmaker on a free and then our most prolific striker gets out for the season . Then someone above him sells our player of the season and most experienced centre half
Ok we ve had a bad run but kenny sticks by his players , stands by his convictions and the way he respects the fans and handles the pressure , in my eyes he is a credit to Wolverhampton wanderers
He s a good manager
KJ has his good points and I agree DG..that Afobe was a majestic buy..even Zyro could be ace..Jordan Graham and Iorfa (I sound like Reg in the holy grail – what did the Romans do)
But he makes tactical fopaux’s and didn’t see the big one.and I mean (the) big one..namely the defence problem that probably kept us in this league by conceding..
He’s incipid and risky at a higher level..can’t motivate and degrades players by error (DB looks half what he was) perhaps it’s Joe Gallen…
Perhaps it was him that liked EBL..
So IMO the owner and the investment is the important one ..If KJ stays I hope he is up to it..
On a Seperate issue there is banter going around that there could be a new stadium built ala Derby Brighton etc not sure if Molineux isn’t a holy site though even if the Council does own the land…
As highlighted by Bedford Wolf, it could be just the right time to play Brighton.
After their long unbeaten start to the season (21 in all competitions was it?) they have struggled of late so hopefully their confidence has taken a knock.
Anyway I have just put 3 bets on at the local Corals – not that I am a regular “punter” by any means but it does add a little spice to proceedings when Wolves play.
1. Wolves to win 2-1 Afobe to score anytime
2. Wolves to win 2-0 Henry to score anytime
3. Wolves to win 3-1 Graham to score anytime
I know – I know – its heart over head time as usual but – among other scores – I did bet 2-0 at Charlton and collected the winnings today. The woman behind the counter in Corals said “how to you spell Afobe” when it was written in my best handwriting on the slip!
A-F-O-B-E, I countenanced. “Remember that name when he is England’s number 9 at the 2022 World Cup”. “He has played for England at Under 21’s” and other junior levels”. The other punters looked at me as if I was a bit nuts or even simple – maybe I am.
(Bedford is predominately a rugby town – so the fortunes of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club are perhaps not on everyone’s lips in these parts. Apart from the 22 or so hardy souls who follow the mighty gold and black, football fans around here generally follow London clubs with the town now rapidly becoming an overspill of the Smoke or, of course, we have the ubiquitous Man Yoo or Liverpool supporters).
Anyway I digress….
Happy New Year to all Wolves supporters wherever you may reside.
BOG
Remarkable change in tone and optimism with the two wins and the murmurs around ownership! I’m just praying that the new owner comes from the Man City/Leicester City/Southampton mould with an understanding of the club’s history and English football, and not the Birmingham City/Leeds/Blackburn mould, with an eye to a quick buck and zippo football knowledge or instinct. Is this where Moxey’s due diligence (a phrase I hesitate to use in connection with him!) will be a pay-off for us at last?
And as for Steve S’ musing on a new Legoland stadium, I’ve always thought that the city centre location of Molineux along with its massive history, of course, gives the club an extra special dimension – approaching the ground from the centre at roof level rises the hairs on my neck (well it would if I still had any!!). So absolute NOooooo to any move.
Me neither .. Move from molineux and that would be my last wolves game
Correct me if I am wrong, but I can only think of three one word football grounds, and one of them, Highbury, is now defunct.
Anfield, and of course Molineux.
Everyone remotely associated, affiliated, connected with or supporting football in any way knows without thinking where those three stadia are.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City and any other current great team have at least two words in their stadium name.
Some teams have built anew, and renamed, such as Pride Park, The Stadium of Light, The Walker stadium, and others I cannot remember. Some impression, huh?
They tried to rename the North Bank.
Not gonna happen, it will always be The North Bank.
It is like Trigger in Fools and Horses and his granddad’s broom.
He replaced the head ten times and his dad replaced the handle 4 times, but it is still his granddad’s broom.
You can fuck about with the kit design each year, to bring in extra dosh, you can fuck about with the players, and especially with the directors, but you cannot and will not, EVER, change the name of Molineux.
A lot of us were “born” there, and a lot of us want to be buried there.
Anyone messing with the history, memories and mystique of our hallowed shrine is messing with us, and will never be welcome, no matter how much money he has.
I agree, I will never set foot there again if it is renamed.
FOwb
What about it we moved from Molineux to The New Molineux, then pissed the Championship, the following season we finish 3rd in the Premier League so qualify for the Champions League and also win the FA Cup for the first time since 1960, then go on to win the Premier League the following year – first time since 1959 – and establish ourselves as the number one club in the country once more?
I know, I know, dreamland but we’ve just had a power cut here and all these candles are making me hark back to happier times in the 1970’s and Dougan, Wagstaffe, Bailey, Hibbitt, Parkin, Richards etc etc
Phil Parkes
Bobby Thompson Dave Woodfield
John McAlle Cpt Mike Bailey Dave Woodruff
Dave Wagstaffe Kenny Hibbit Derek Dougan John Richards Terry Wharton
Pick the bones out of those babies.
Love sit when teams pick then selves with hardy guys week I week out.
Long May Dave Wagstaffe enthral the masses, say hello to Lemmy and John Lennon for us Dave.
How I miss you guys.
Bobby Woodruff FFS
That’s what happens when you get all pumped up on Nostalia (and Zopiclone) once paid out £500 on a bill I’d paid the night before due to planet Zopiclone. Thought my bank account had been hacked. Sorry Bobby.
Great minds think alike, I was just sitting here working out my all time Wolves line up for the past 50 years and here it is in a 442 formation:
Bradshaw
Parkin, De Wolf, Flowers, Thomson
Hibbitt, Bailey, Knowles, Wagstaffe
Dougan, Bull
Subs; Murray, McAlle, Woodfield, Wharton, Hunt, Richards, Keane
And while I’m at it here is my horror XI playing 343;
Boswell
Wilson(Joe), Hindmarch, Luzny
Paskin, Wintersgill, Halford, Kellock
Claridge, Frankowski, Bell
Sub: Galagher
Bedford ..’new Molineux ‘..brave words here but yep we could move on big time and start playing Man U again..I too have an affinity with Molineux but …who can say..
Big money big Ideas big changes ..London..you’d go to ‘new Molineux’ ..you’d have to ..like we all would..

He deserves this – breath of fresh air..

It’s all happening..
Molineux for me , not even the molineux as some commentators say , which gets up my nose, great team stuwolf, close to the one I saw at my first ever game I think , just add Parkin , Pete Daniel and maybe Steve Daley , looking forward to football again tomorrow, what a difference a couple of wins make ! Utw
Desmond decker just passed too , only 64. He must have been making records at 12 then I think!
Actually Clive … Thinking about it , your suggestion has got quite a nice feel about it … Yes Clive !! molineaux FOWB , is a change I could get used to , in fact .. I like it a lot
Two issues here – renaming on the present site; and moving. If it’s the former, coupled with all that success Bedford dreams about, I’d still object but many will accept it and fan power will keep the name Molineux alive. Other renamings have led to outcry followed by grumpy acceptance. If it’s a move, it’s totally unnecessary – the plans to expand the stadium on the present site seemed largely acceptable to those that make decisions and would keep considerable footfall in the city centre – something the economists and retailers are constantly exercised about. The DCFC move from the Baseball Ground has been a great success, after great mourning for the loss of mud and atmosphere of the Baseball Ground, but there’s a huge difference between the BBG and Molineux and the circumstances of the DC move. If a new owner is buying into something s/he likes and can identify with, rather than just an investment or vanity project, then s/he should quickly recognise that Molineux is part of that.
Are we in danger of getting ahead of ourselves at the moment, or have I missed something over the last few days. Nobody has actually bought the club off the scouse git yet, so why are we dreaming of moving etc. We could be in danger of a large collective egg in the face if Moxey is part of any buyer(s). Sorry to appear to be on a downer but we have been crapped on too many times in the past.
Like Stu Wolf’s team posted above but what about this one from the 50’s which was when I became fixted with all things OLD Gold & Black.

Happy New Year to all fellow bloggers.
I agree Tipton.
So far it is speculation regarding new owners.
There is huge economic uncertainty at the moment.
Until we have a motivated and ambitious board, mid table security should be our aim.
Just to add, in this ‘politically correct world’, that some of the comments, regarding the Reubens Brothers, have been pretty ‘anti-semen’, as my ex Jewish wife called it…
Certainly, if I was a Reuben Brother and read some of the ‘jokes’ posted regarding ‘Jewish Ownership’, my bid would be withdrawn!
Robin.
I hope we never ever get PC on this blog.
1, We would never hear from Clive again .
2, I would be well stuffed because I had a go at Ding Dong laughably on high already.
We had it on very reliable info that Ding was in the Goal post talking to the real fans.
Need I say any more……….
I don’t really think the stuff about the ground is getting ahead of ourselves – it just all arises from Steve S’ passing comment above re banter going round that their could be a new stadium etc…(30/12, 4.10pm). Should the idea really emerge it will be the subject of a separate, very active blog, I suspect!! As will the new ownership, once the Scouser has passed into history. Here’s to New Year dreams, with very best wishes to all Wolves Bloggers!
