As good as the last two victories have been, results elsewhere have been dispiriting.

Six of the seven teams above us (Bournemouth being the exception) also won on Tuesday meaning the gap between Wolves and the play-off places remains five points.
That’s a considerable chunk particularly when you factor in our feeble goal difference, meaning we’ll likely have to stack another point on top to force our way into the promised land north of the dotted line.
The remaining fixtures also look tough on paper, so some big performances between now and May are needed if we’re to have any chance at all.
Cardiff
A visit to the Welsh capital doesn’t look as daunting now as it might have done back in August. The Bluebirds are down in midtable and practically guaranteed to be playing in the Championship again next season.
Russell Slade, who we’re all well familiar with from last term, is now in charge but his arrival from Leyton Orient hasn’t sparked the play-off push they’d probably hoped for.
In fact, victory at Wigan in midweek was their first in eight matches, which explains why their season looks to have petered out before the end of February.
Still, their home form has been more than respectable with eight wins, three draws and five defeats. It’s away from the Cardiff City Stadium where they’ve largely suffered, with just two victories all season.
With the likes of Kenywe Jones and Peter Whittingham knocking around, if they’re up for the game it promises to be a tough afternoon.
They also paid decent money for Chesterfield striker Eoin Doyle who has scored shedloads in the lower divisions. He’ll be one to watch out for this weekend.
Wolves
The last two matches have gone the way most of our home games went in League One with the other team pressing for long periods but Wolves holding firm (or riding their luck) and being ruthless at the other end.

Nothing wrong with that of course. I think an open game suits us because we have the attacking players to exploit the space.
Kenny Jackett has already said a couple of times that we need to go all out for victories and I think he’s absolutely right. I expect to see attacking team selections from now until May.
He tried something different in the week, playing Jack Price tucked in on the right. That was an interesting tactic and Price’s steady assurance on the ball helped feed possession to our dangerous forward line.
It will be interesting to see if he deploys that same eleven in Wales or changes it up again.
The gaffer
Predictions
The fixtures for the other promotion chasers look tougher this weekend so Wolves have to try and capitalise.
I don’t think the team is short of quality, but they need to show the desire to fight and scrap away from Molineux. To be fair, aside from the surrender at Carrow Road, they’ve generally done that well of late.
I think we’ll concede but I also fancy us to score a couple.
The trusty old prediction – 3-1
Up The Wolves!

finally got one right midweek and feel that we can keep on scoring for fun but also think they will score
Let’s keep the ball rolling. Much tighter though this time.
Look forward to being proven wrong.
As Danny Batth has said in the news, all though the teams above are winning wolves still have to play them and they have to play each other.
If wolves can find some consistency now and put a run together then they should reach the play offs at least and automatic all though unlikely is still not out of the question.
I think a wolves win coming up.
We’re on a roll. I’m on a roll. We’re gonna win.
A splendid afternoon this past weekend with Houston Lobo and family all the way from Sunny Sedgley, and a marvelous game of golf today with Ed, father of Houston Lobo, even though I let him beat me!
As stated before, we are playing in Europe this weekend, and we should not fear a trip abroad.
An easy victory against a team who have nothing to play for the rest of this season, and the fans from The Golden Palace will easily outsing their lot.
Talking of coal pits, what note do you get when you drop a grand piano down a coal shaft?
A flat miner.
Old ones are the best.
FOwb
We’re on a roll.. I reckon this should be a comfortable win
Roll on another win – got to keep pushing!
My researcher tells me after a decent start to the season they have been garbage.
Lets keep the pressure on the teams above (and ourselves).
It’s a marathon… Not a s( k)nickers. Keep with the pace before a final sprint.
Afobe and Dicko one apiece.
Typical Wolves to take a step back after two good results.
Hope Im terrible wrong.
We’re not going to make it to the play-offs but at least we’re starting to see some goals whilst they try. Us and Brentford to miss out although current Bournemouth wobble could be a tiny window of opportunity if we are in touch when we get down there.
Hope I’m wrong, but I think we won’t see three wins in a row this season until we’re mathematically in / out of the playoffs. Pressure is a funny thing.
The play off conundrum is an interesting one 13 games to go we are within 6 points of all the play off places. There is virtually no one behind us. If Brentford werent in the picture i would say we were a banker to catch at least one of them. COME ON ! (BASIL !).
Positivity is the key, and we seem to have it in spades at the moment.
Haven’t a clue really. Could go either way.
We don’t have a chance in this one, can’t see anything other than a good solid thrashing from the boys from the Valleys, but I will be there with my 10 yrear old Grandson Tom shouting our heads off for the boys, the one thing that never let’s me down week in week out is our incredible support.
So a visit to Welsh Wales it is then.
A beautiful Wales,
90 miles of beautiful coastline.
Most of it facing the sea. (Max Boyce) circa 19 Oatcake.

🙂
StuWolf,
I hope your written prediction of us not standing a snowball in hell’s chance of winning this has the same effect as it did for the Fulham game.
Your numerical prediction reflects what I, and now doubt you, hope to be closer to the actual score.
Enjoy your day in the valleys with your grandson.
COMB, UTW!
Check out Connor Ronan, the young Midfielder from Wolves U 18 squad theyr’e all getting excited about at Mol. Wolves play Derby on the Friday now, ( we’re on Sky), so if he’s selected, get along to Burton on the Saturday and check him out, he’s supposed to be tasty.

🙂
I’m glad we’ve reached the point where we have to go for it and attack, it plays to our strengths. Afobe has been all we hoped for, and has settled into the team perfectly, much like Dicko last season. Strikers are done, creative midfielder with lightening pace, skill, eagle eyes and strong tackle now required.
Hopefully we will be the team this season that reaches the play offs from outside top 6 and hits form at the right time. To do that we must beat the teams above us we need 7 points minimum from next 3 games, and to continue to extract revenge on those teams that turned us over back in November.
Agreed Amber.
2-1 for me too with everything crossed!
COYW!
Talk about a difficult run in..pressure..
Anyway we are almost at our peak and even the maestro in the middle is starting to play …
This stinks of a draw but we need the points ..smash and grab for me and a prelude to a result at Bournemouth and I’ll be there !..
Hope the coaches have a good ride home..indian country..
COYW
WWFC are set up to win away and score goals on the road. The Welsh will be more interested in the rugby on Saturday, thankfully England play on Sunday, so no distractions and a solid 3-1 win.
Come on you Wolves.
Im going for the away win. Close hard fought game with wolves eventual winners and gaining ground on some of the teams above us. COTW
Another win I reckon. Hopefully our firepower can keep up the good work.
My heart is yearning for a win but my head says that 3 wins on the spin is a big ask .. so I’m settling for a good away point with a battling draw..
COYW
Come on me babbies
Another away day winner!
I’m sticking with predicting a draw and hoping we win which has been my system for the last 2 games although this ones got draw written all over it ( said that about the last 2 games as well ).
Cardiff really is one of those places the old football saying rings true in that its never an easy place to win.
Here’s hoping my system of predicting a draw and us winning Carrys on………………fingers crossed
In my head I’m with you, Twixfix and 6 minutes…
I even typed in 2-2…
My heart tells me we need to win the next three games, to get to the play offs.
The team need to believe we can get there.
It needs confidence.
Afobe, Sako, Dicko are showing premier league class at the moment.
In the twinkling of a comment, I’ve given us an extra goal…
We need a win.
I don’t think a draw will do.
As Sir Matt Busby says in the film ….. BELIEVE … I really hope yr prediction is correct Robin…
Haven’t tried to predict a score the last two games and due to the fact we have scored 8 and conceded none that’s what I’m going to do this time. Come on boys make it an exciting end to the season
Just as we start to hope…
They seem to be going through a spell of not scoring or conceding too many. So I see a return to our usual away form.
Torn whether we’ll score 2 or 3….following on from the last 4 games where we’ve averaged 3 a game (even without scoring at Norwich) I can’t help but think we’ll get amongst the goals, particularly against a side performing very averagely.
However their win away at Wigan topped off an unbeaten February with 3 points and with it they may prove difficult to break down. But their not scoring many, which hopefully will continue tomorrow!
I can’t help but always see Peter Whittingham as one of those bogey players, although I doubt the stats will back that up – probably ever since Dave Jones failed to get him to Wolves from Villa all those years ago.
Counter attacking and clinical finishing will just see us through.
lets sneak one early and then hang on … Worked early in season
A counter-attacking master-class.
No doubt Cardiff will have seen our recent 8-0 turnover, you better believe it boyo’s
I think we’ll make it 3 in a row. We mustn’t get too dispirited by the 7 teams above us winning. Bournemouth are on a bad run, 1 point from a possible 12. Most importantly we and the top 7 teams will be playing each other in 17 matches still to come. Points HAVE TO BE DROPPED in those matches. Obviously! All 7 teams and us simply can’t win every one of those 17 matches. Also, the top 7 teams can drop points against teams below us, as Bournemouth did against Forest. Playoff finish is in our own hands actually. Statistically, automatic promotion is still possible but not if two teams at the top keep winning.
We’re on a roll here so onwards & upwards.
UTW
Need to win this one to keep in contention
UTW
13 games left – max points 39
6 at home
7 games away
It’s time to step up the pressure and continue on our recent impressive goal avalanche 😉
I am certain I have mentioned it once or 10 times before but Russell Slade is not on my Christmas card list, he’s No. 3 on my shit list which also contains at No.1 Gerry Adams and No.2 Martin McGuinness.
Therefore it is of the utmost importance that we demolish Cardiff in such a way that at the final whistle Slade will be seen crouching in a corner sucking on his thumb and calling ‘Mummy! Mummy!’
We are in good form and have had our bad spell, now it’s time for a couple of the teams above us to flag, flounder and fail. We will then gladly waltz past them into the play-offs – sod finishing 7th or 8th!
I am Welsh but have no room in my heart for Cardiff so there will be no love lost in beating them.
Team selection – KJ is tinkering and so far his tinkering has worked, well over the last few games. We have, in Afobe and Dicko, a potent strike force. Add the unpredictable Sako and we really have the potential to run riot.
So that’s what I want tomorrow, a riotous performance, nothing less will do.
Onwards & Upwards
🙂
Sevlow. That’s some shit list. I was at the Orient v Wolves match last season at Brisbane Road (or whatever their stadium is called now) and Russell Slade didn’t endear himself to me. We had a cracking result though and I think it secured us the title. Likewise, the Brentford manager wasn’t a barrel of laughs to us either. We have 5 games in which to do damage against the top 7 and I think we’ll deny them a point or three. They have 12 games against each other to drop even more points.
Yeh it is. At least Mark Warburton was gracious in defeat.
think we will catch them on the break, fingers crossed.
Somehow I think we’ll bag this one too … hoping, anyway!
Tight win would just suit. Keep up the momentum
Hoping for the victory, and the rest above us losing,if that’s possible. not looked at the fixtures for this weekend.
Just gotta keep it going if we can, fingers crossed and all that.UTW,fickle fan.
I hope I’m wrong but never the easiest place to go and get a result.
And the Wolves go marching on !!!
On the plus side we should be in a confident and positive mood, the only downside is that we don’t control midfield as we should which could be dangerous against a side with proven goalscorers.
Staying positive though and hope we nick a win.
It would be great if we can win as it would mean Bournemouth becomes an even more tasty fixture . Plus I remember me and my dad being refused service in a welsh fish and chip in the 70s because we were English. Sons of Owen Glendowr my arse, they’re just a nation of sheep worriers who will once again kneel before their English masters . No offence, kenny, Dave or lee 🙂
I think we’ll win 3-0 again, why not ? And sooner or later Afobe will get a hat trick……………….
Don’t think anyone has gone for this score. A good a chance as any. We really do have to keep the pressure on those teams above and if we do that gap will get eaten away with time to spare.
I hope Henry plays ahead of price. Really need to just go for it now.
My first visit to cardiff since that day in 2003. Looks like an open attacking line up so plenty goals could go either way
Cardiff – great for shopping. Good pubs. Nice cathedral.
Not a nice place for football!!! Unless it’s a play off final.
We’ve had mixed fortunes there. Been there a few times, inc a friendly in 2003/4
I’m backing this team against anyone now. Keep the tempo up as were deadly in front of goal.
Hope KJ doesn’t mix things up too much. Stick to the 11 and use subs as needed.
Come on.
Over the last few games we’ve had a good number of inspired passes putting someone in on goal. Given that we now seem to have forwards who know where the goal is that should mean that we continue to make good chances and get a reasonable conversion rate. Things don’t always work out as expected, but I believe we’ll continue the good work – scoring is a habit.
I wasn’t sure whether to put us down to concede, but overall decided we had a good chance of another clean sheet
We have the belief spreading through the team, on we go.
Mid table mediocrity assured in the predictions league but I’m backing three more points for Wolves
In Wales getting ready for my mother’s 90th birthday party tomorrow.
Tried to get her to hold it in Cardiff but had to make do with Kilgetty.
Consequently won’t be there to see us hit three goals in a comfortable win.
Wish her a happy birthday you bloggers!
Happy Birthday, DoogsMum.
You deserve a medal for putting up with his crap for all these years!!!
Happy Birthday DOOGS MUM… let him know … he’s not too big to as get a clip round his ear if he spills his jelly on his WOLVES shirt …. have a great day young lady … !!
Kilgetty, a wild place ! Happy Birthday Doogs mam !
🙂
There’s a bit of welsh it me but who cares… Get into em
Substitute Edwards for Price and we’re on a winner. Getting better all the time and the only way is up.
Hoping that we return to our good away form. I would like to see us to play an attacking side and go for it.
Kenny’s tinkering seems to be working lately and we are getting some good results. Well, as far as I can work out, keeping the same team as last weeks starting 11 and then when we’re 4-0 up bringing people off to rest legs for the Bournemouth match, still counts as tinkering.
Tinker your heart out Kenny as long as you bring home the Bacon, who gives a damn.
Borra Da Doog’s mum, Happy Birthday young lady, well your’e probably younger than some of us on this site anyway. Enjoy your day, and as the late Great Spock would say…….
May you Live Long and Prosper.
🙂
Happy birthday Doogs mum.. your son writes better and is more articulate than me… you must of read him story books with big words in…
Double celebration then.!.
PS. Wolves eat sheep
COYW
There should be a few goals in this. Cardiff are decent at home but Wolves are good on the break away from home. I’ll be happy with a draw.
Edwards will be celebrating going home with a double
Minute 30 Minute 33 Minute 43 Minute 69
Adobe x2. Has been a real spark top our attack
Got to keep going. Goals, goals, goals.
I take back my initial appraisal of the new lad between the sticks, don’t want to risk spelling Cue Sack.
He has made some decent saves since his debut.
Hope the front line maintain their potency in front of goal, which if they do, i feel a lot of teams are going to struggle against us.
I can’t imagine many defences relishing facing them when firing on all cylinders.
Onwards and upwards.
Come on Me Babbies.
Hoping our pacy attack can do some real damage on the break. If Sako can find a bit of consistency to match his obvious ability we can put some real pressure on the sides currently sitting above us.
Like Thomas says, if we’re to stand a chance of being in the play-off reckoning then we have to keep the hammer down, so I can’t predict anything other than a win in Wales!
Much optimism around the blog about todays’ game, optimism I share. However, this will be a tuffy and I’d be happy with one point never mind three. But there seems to be an effervescent joie de vivre about our attacking play at the mo’ and if the front line are on fire I can’t see Cardiff dousing them.
Fingers crossed as ever.
Not quite a stroll in the park, but an easy win
We have to win simples
A draw for me. Cardiff bring a difficult place to go but if we can come away with a least a point here and smash Bournemouth I will be happy.
COYW
Yeah, in many ways beating Bournemouth is more important.
Well we just have to keep the run going. Tighter, but 3pts and a moaning Russell Welsh Slate.
Just arrived in Cardiff so I can only predict a win.
This should be another win for us. Afobe to keep his run going. He’s beginning to look like an inspired buy.
I’m going for a Clive special.
Hopefully the run will continue
A very good day for the lads.
Onwards & Upwards.
Lets give the souuth coast wingers a kicking next week
A big thank you Brummies, Blackpool, Blackburn, Fulham and Wednesday… Shame on you Leeds as you very nearly did us a favour, just can’t trust you can we eh?
What a difference a week makes!
Oh yeah and get your act together Wolves… 1-0? WTF? Did you not learn from the last game where I was more than a little miffed with sheer lack of effort and only a 3niller. something tells me we’re not going to score 25 against Bournemouth to appease me, so I’ll let it slide with a boring 1 or 2 goal win. 🙂
Fantastic result it’s a pity Watford won, but Brenford lost so all we can do is continue winning we are coming good at the right time if only Jacckett could of added a bit more steel in midfield a right nasty bastard a Sourness or Keith Downing what ever happens Morgan and Moxey should be pleased with everyone of theses players as value for money goes they’ve been priceless and my only real disappointment was the bad patch in November if we had won 2 or three of those loses we’d be we’ll placed for automatic promotion.
Is to much to expect this run to continue at Bournmouth, I don’t see why not there having there bad patch and we are in top form one thing I know we having nothing to fear going to the east coast.
I can’t believe how quiet this blog is today, I expected a flurry of activity due to a well fought, hard worked game yesterday.
If anyone gets the chance take a look at Whittingham’s tackle on Doherty. I don’t for one minute think it was malicious or anything other than a winger making an absolute gaffe of an attempt to tackle someone. But, from where I was standing, how Doherty didn’t break his neck is a mystery, he went spinning around in the air like a Catherine wheel. It has to be the worst tackle Iv’e ever witnessed in my 53 years of watching football. As I say, I don’t think it was other than a really poor timed tackle with Doherty in full flight ( and he was). Spectacular or what!
🙂
As we start a new month, I’m thinking will KJ be nominated for The MOTM awards? Decent run with just 2 losses, however the amount of goals scored has been impressive with a good amount of clean sheets to boot.
I don’t give a toss about the curse, I do however think KJ should be recognised this month for making it all click in place.
On a side note… Sako really is finding form, I think his statement of intent is to stay with this bunch of players next year – in the prem. (till a few games time when he gets slated for being lazy again).
Missed opportunity …. At the game I heard the supporters were at their most vocal yet again. Could have sang to Slade… C’mon feel the noize in that easily Recognisable Wolvo accent. and then sang “It’s Xmas” as the goal went in!
