Such are the number of questions about our credentials this season that we’ve even got one slapped on our shirts.

‘What House.co.uk’ on our backs.
‘What chance of ever winning a game of football with last season’s hapless back four’ is probably a bit wordy, if more appropriate.
How in God’s name we can still be fielding a back four of Ward, Berra, Johnson and Zubar when they’ve kept three clean sheets in 2012 between them is beyond baffling.
That we conceded three goals against the first team of genuine repute we’ve played this season is hardly surprising, nor the nature of Cardiff’s equaliser.
Having taken the lead through a sumptuous Sako free kick, the circus came to town within 60 seconds when the laughably bad Zubar hauled down Craig Noone as if under instruction.
Peter Whittingham equalised and soon scored again with a brilliant strike which also begs another question.
If this defence isn’t pathetic enough, how are we really supposed to keep clean sheets when offered no protection from midfield?
Where was Margrietter today? Where was Boukari? What does £8million really buy the fourth worst squad in Premier League history when four of Solbakken’s signings were nowhere to be seen?
Is it a surprise to anyone that we barely had a single shot on target in the entire second half – in a game we were chasing – with the impotent Kevin Doyle spearheading our front line?
This team needed a major, major overhaul to rid us of the stench of last season’s embarrassment.
With seven of last season’s losers playing today, it patently didn’t get one and it was inevitable that we surrendered to Cardiff in much the same way we surrendered to virtually every team we played last season.
Peter Whittingham crowned a brilliant display with a majestic third goal which deserved a place in a worthier context.
At 1-2 we were pressing with all the force of Audley Harrison as it was, rendering the ex-Villa man’s hat-trick free kick as mildly irrelevant.
We were never going to score ourselves and were destined to add to the ‘two wins in 28’ statistic the moment we went behind.
Viva la revolution? What revolution.co.uk more like.

Well, gotta give SS a bit more time to get things in order.. And new players need a bit of time with the team before getting thrown into matches.. So my guess is that wolves will need 5-10 matches before starting to produce good results. It’ll take a bit of time to shake of the loosing streak from last season.. don’t forget that.
(Following of Wolves because I’m a Norwegian and believes in Ståle Solbakken)
I agree. I don’t expect Solbakken’s project to really get into gear until December at least.
WHAT COMPLETE DROSS.
you can give zubar stearman berra foley and elokobi til the end of time itself and they will still be rubbish. The new guys, conversely, have actually hit the ground running, and performing great.
Stale was given DVDS – if he bothered to watch them, he would have seen that 2 or 3 DECENT defenders were needed, what did we get 4 midfielders and 2 forwards.
YEAH REALLY GET INTO GEAR,,BACKWARDS!!
Optomistic before the game. Outplayed by a team who are meant to be on the same level or below us. Doyle and blake looked of the pace. Zubar had a mare. No fluent attacking from midfield. Cardiff closed us down and were far more effective. Play offs if we are lucky this season. No money spent on defense but that makes greasel happy. Utw.
Learn how to spell. Optimistic.
I’m not sure there’s much point learning how to spell “optimistic” based on today. “Pessimistic” might be more appropriate.
I think ” realistic ” might be a better choice.
or “hopeless”
absolutely!!! can you imagine what the score would have been had we played albion!! wouldnt just have been the manager getting the chop!!
Again its woeful defending thats cost us. iive suggested on my facebook page we change from “wolves ay we” to “wank at the back ay we” which seems more appropriate. I think we could be decent going forward but we are simply awful at the back. I would of taken the 1.8 mill offered for zubar an played Foley as my right back with stearman comming in as cover should foley be out. Everyone has been screaming we need a left back for years an yet nothing even mentioned in the transfer window. A left back an centre half must be a priority in the loan window. Im not gonna panic yet as i think we need a few more games to gel. As the the habit of losing is a hard one to shake off i feel we could be in for a very long season.
Watched live on tv in thailand. How lucky to watch our w*** defense and woeful performance.
Agree mate. Left back a problem for more years than I can remember.
Compare and contrast: Wolves: van Damme, George Friend, Matt Hill,
WBA: Nicky Shorey, Bernt Haas, Yacob
I will judge properly when I see Stale’s vision in all its glory.
At the moment this isn’t Stale’s vision, more his attempts at sticking a plaster over a wound that needs more attention.
The bigger question is why, after 4 games of the season and Solbakken being appointed in June, are we so far away from seeing this vision?
One for Steve Morgan to answer.
You said it yourself – we were the 4th worst Premier League team. This will take a LOT of time to completely fix!
moxey and morgan …. wheres the money jez? two guesses
We’ve just bought a centre back and he didn’t even make the bench. It was the same with other recent signings. If these guys, are supposed to improve us why are they not involved. SS brought them in so I am surprised they aren’t even subs.
Sorry, I don’t get this.
Very frustrating mate and just compounds the fact the defence we set out in the Premier League can’t even cope in the Championship.
Why we didn’t buy a whole new back four is beyond me. Maybe if Moxey wasn’t intent on limiting our buying to the bargain bin of the minor european leagues we might have done just that!
This needs to be sorted in Jan or we’ll struggle to break top 10 let alone challenge for promotion! It’s still early days and perhaps i’m over reacting slightly but surely we should be expecting better.
Quite simply not good enough.
were going down..inept board…nice pension oh and nice stand though
Well done in getting the report in so fast Ben and how come there were no expletives?
I’m probably a bit too cross to comment just yet but anyway,
WHY THE BLOODY HELL DID WE ROPE IN 20 ODD MILLION POUNDS AND FAIL TO DEAL WITH THE MIND-BOGGLING OBVIOUS FACT THAT OUR DEFENCE IS CRAP, NEVER MIND GUTLESSS. THE ODD OCCASION WE ACTUALLY TAKE THE LEAD, THEY HAND IT STRAIGHT BACK, WITH INTEREST. DID SOMEONE REALLY OFFER US £1.8M FOR ZUBAR? AND WE TURNED IT DOWN!!! OUR FULL BACKS ARE A JOKE, WE WILL NEVER BE ANY GOOD TILL WE GET RID. PLENTY OF MONEY IN THE BANK AND A TEAM THAT IS GOING ONLY ONE WAY, BACKWARDS.
i believe Besitkas offered us 1.8 mill That was the reported figure
well ut mate…i am SOpissed off with this once GREAT club allowing such a money grabbing scouser anywhere near it…… its mind numbingly obvious whats needed ..even my wife who hates footy has said time after time we need to sort out the defence …what does she know!!!!!!! must mean moxey and morgan are complete tossers and need to go !!!!!
Same old tripe, give it a rest mate !!
you reckon do you…then why are we getting worse and who makes the important decisions ..morgan and moxey
terry connors gone!!!!!!!
Boukari was injured – Margrietter I’ve no idea but Stale must have his reasons for leaving him out since he was the one who bought him anyway (match fitness? Illness?) Siggy was also injured.
We need Boukari and Siggy, we also need Henry and Foley to come back from injury ASAP – we have little depth in the squad really. We sorely miss Henry in midfield and Zubar is just bloody useless! Johnson is better and Ward is okay but not ideal.
The two week break we’re gonna have needs to be spent regrouping for sure, and perhaps bringing in a loan signing. More than four games will be needed for Stale…
we need siggy ? on what grounds do you base this ? I have seen NOTHING to suggest he is even able to compete at this level.
He’ll get better, and he was great at his last club. In the Northampton game he had a well-worked goal disallowed for a foul tha shouldn’t have been and I remember a brilliant cross from hiim to Peszko who had his shot blocked. He’s also very fast. There is a player there and I’d happily have him replace Doyle/SEB right now!
I think you are over exaggerating. two of the goals came from set pieces, but of course the penalty shoud be avoided.
With two small attackers the chances of winning high crosses are relatively small. The pairing of Doyle and Ebanks blake isn’t potent at all – as you did remark- they are like twins in playing style. It’s a mystery why Boukari don’t played. If he’s fit I’m sure he’d found his way to the bench at least. Berra played so well in the last match that it would be foolish to just replace him. Maybe he needs some time to climatize also.
Other wise it was an even game in possesion, according to bbc, with 51-49 percent in possesion and 12-7 in attempts.
Well said Ben, good summary.
Prefer to see Baath and Margreitter in central defence.
We need two full backs and we miss Henry.
The last month pontificating on the Jarvis/Fletcher moves left little time to address some glaring issues, with the players left behind by MM.
On the other hand we must show patience.
Our play was neat but showed no penetration.
Hopefully in the next fortnight Ståle can turn the ‘individuals’ into a team.
Still optimistic despite the defeat…
So am I mate !!
Did you see Fletch on TV. That’s why we couldn’t keep him, that’s why he wanted out and that’s why it was right to get what we could for him, unfortunately.
The most worrying part of our very indifferent start is the lack of impact our new manager has had. Of course managers need time to build success but 6 games in and I can see no evidence of him having improved the defence at all – no clean sheets tells you everything. His signings, primarily because they are foreign, will undoubtedly take time to adapt to the Championship but surely his brief was to get us back to the PL at the first attempt, not to have us in some form of extended transition period? Success breeds success and failure likewise. Unless we put some decent wins together through September, I expect Solbakken to be under extreme pressure come October – the (lack of) ambition of Moxey/Morgan, the quality of signings and the lack of urgency to get us back to the PL simply isn’t good enough. Mr Morgan whatever happened to the “we’re not going into the PL just to make up the numbers” mindset – at the moment we’re not even competing in the Championship!
Well said Suttonwolf very well put,i feel the same way very worried he has’nt addressed he defence with the money he had at his disposal, but what can we expect when moxey’s incharge of the funds and morgan’s to interested in building his Redrow portfolio again.i wonder where the 20 + mils gone..should have spent half of that on defence…
It was the manner of the defeat that was the worst thing.
We were out played in every department. Men against boys I’m afraid.
It is actually very scary to watch how bad we are.
I have seen no evidence yet that the manager or coach has had any positive impact on these players. Its Ok to say give him time, but time is something you don’t have in this league.
Everyone can take points off each other and I fear at the moment everyone is gonna take
He needs to get this sorted quick. He has brought in his players, 7 of em… he has talked the talk now he needs to walk the walk. I fear his lack of knowledge of English football may actually turn out to be a massive problem.
Even the commentator was taking the piss out of us, saying solbakken looks like a wax work dummy at the side of the pitch, he didn’t even start getting animated until 75 minutes when wewere 3-1 down.
Massive improvement needed, because playing like that after watching Leicester against Blackpool yesterday, we are nowhere near that level.
You exaggerate,” men against boys.” What are you talking about ?
Look at the match stats, a needless penalty and a peach of a free kick otherwise fairly even.
It hasn’t taken long to adopt the doom and gloom attitude, has it ?
Hasn’t taken long for doom and gloom? 2 or 3 wins in the last 30 or so. That’s the facts about how this club is being run.Meanwhile, West Brom lie third in the premiership. Still never mind eh?
West Brom…7 points from three games…. 🙂 #justsaying
Seriously though, never mind about those lot ’til we’re back in the Prem! 😛
Remove all todays back four and we wouldn’t be worse off. I too wanted Baath and Margreitter to start with foley in. I know it would take money to cancel contracts, but some of the players are just that bad we need to pay them to leave. They are costing us points, respect and ultimately the club money with falling attendances. Why, if we are financial very well off, no-debt, can we not reinvest all the money from players sales into purchases and wages? THERE IS NO REASONABLE EXCUSE.
I know it’s early, but as with MM I’m starting to become a little disillusioned with the whole club. There is some kind of abject apathy surrounding the place. If Albion can do it, who i’m sure are not as financially well off as we are, then why the fuck (excuse my language), can we? Again, THERE IS NO EXCUSE.
Oh to watch the wolves and not constantly shit myself whenever the ball ends up in our third. Just scrap the 4 defenders. End of.
Well said,I agree entirely..
We continue to be a laughing stock.
Problem is Morgan has took the gamble with this guy, and appears to have total faith in him. Well let me tell Mr Morgan in no uncertain terms.. We ani’t going back to the premier league anytime soon.. But we may end up in League 1.
Where is our Director of Football ???
What’s this laughing stock nonsense ??
We are just on a massive learning curve, which is going to be painful at times.
a learning curve implies improvement. improvement requires for us to learn from our mistakes. thus far, the big mistake is the defence and stale doesnt look like sorting that any time soon.
When all the emotion has died down with regards how shit we played, the fans will realise wolves are a club in decline, and fast. From the great escape on the last day of the season until the present day, wolves need to think what has happened. The players we have bought in and players we have sold. It all smacks of a club in serious decline and hopefully all you happy clappers and mr/mrs positives will finally see what is happening. There are so many playing issues, but not buying a proper left back is nothing short of disgraceful by stale and the board. We have real problems throughout the club and we are more likely to do a leeds than a southampton
I agree with much of this. Why are we supposed to accept this may be a season of struggle? £30m has come in, add to that parachute payments and an already healthy bank balance. We haven’t just lost, we have been well beaten twice and were lucky to get a point against Derby. I like Stale and am willing to give him time, but maybe an experienced head was the answer. Morgan and Moxey keep saying we should be in the Premier League. They ballsed it up, blew our chance in the Prem and we see no signs of a quick return. It was acceptable in 06 post Hoddle, but not now. We are not Derby, Coventry or someone else with no cash, we’re fortunate to be in a position of financial health, but what does it matter? We’re going nowhere fast.
I was going to comment but this says it all.
In Feb last year on this forum I told you that Terry Conner would not win a match.
I now tell you that wolves will never win a game if any pair (or more) from Zubar , Johnson, Berra and stearman play in the back 4.
If Wolves miss Henry at the moment then that implies we have no backup for him. The bad news is that he is not good enough for this league. So not only do we need a right back, we also need a strong tackling midfield player…. but we have spent the money on forwards.
I thought Stale knew what he was doing; the new players looked OK … but if they don’t play a la McCarthy signings then what is the point of buying them. Todays selection makes me think this manager hasn’t got it.
My prediction…. there might just be 3 teams worse than us in this division….. but there might not. 21st at best possible relegation. We’ve been here before and it smells the same again.
Is stale the new Tommy Docherty -Good at relgating teams ?
Oh, come on, are you being serious? Relegation candidates? This is the equivalent of using a nuclear bomb to blow up an ant for crying out loud – calm down!
You would have hated supporting Reading this time last season…
4 games 4 points. 46 games 46 points. It’ll be close
Crickey – pack it in you harbinger of doom! I’m no ‘happy clapper’ but we are far from a club in terminal decline. Our problems are born from MIck M’s total inability to manage at Prem level – he was given good money by Steve Morgan and he wasted it – we made no progress at all in three years – and now it will take STS a bit of time to turn this around. If Steve Morgan is to be blamed for anything it was his patience with MM – Mick should have gone at the end of the second season after we survived by the skin of our teath.
I said in an earlier post that without Henry Wolves have to go 5 in midfield. Listened to BBCWM and their commentators said it all; absolute crap, too nice, no steel, Wolves gave up the game & hardly troubled their keeper in the 2nd half. Wolves last season were a dream to play against because they yield space so easily & just do not show enough determination when they have not got the ball. All the same weaknesses are there this season, Solbakken has not made a dent on this side of our game yet.
Zubar should be issued with a red nose because he let Noone run him ragged. It was said that Margreitter did not make the bench as he found Thursday night too much of a culture shock? It is just like last season except a league lower. Need a rethink, hope we get Whelan on loan. It looks like a big sea change is needed to challenge for anything above mid-table. The lack of confidence, spirit, and fight runs very deeply through this side & Solbakken has got a massive job on his hands to right the sinking ship.
The question is how long will the fans give him?
Negativity is a bad habit
So is losing and failing to keep a clean sheet…
We are only 3 point behind the team number 4 on the table, 5 points behind team number 2. And there are 43 more games to play.
correction: 42 games
Admire your optimism & it is true there is time to put it right but there seems very little progress thus far, and confidence & leadership are not very evident from what we have seen so far.
Perhaps the team is guilty of being too blase about facing inferior opposition after the great heights of the Premiership. If so that should stop now as thus far we are one of the weaker teams in this league after being the weakest team in the Prem last season.
Solbakken has to tighten the defence with what we have available, & that will mean Stearman & Elokobi as full backs, then 5 in midfield. The CH partnership is right up in the air because no-one can tell if Margreitter, with a watching brief today, will be up to playing there. Maybe Baath is worth a shout, I don’t know! Things, can hopefully, only get better!
Yeah and with 45 games to go, we were only 3 points of the top.
Oh Good. I feel at whole lot better now.
We are miles behind them in Passing, creativity, One touch football, Pace, defence…..
Still 42 games to get it right.
We know our team is capable of much better displays, I’m referring to the Barnsley match, which gives me hope for the future. Cardiff away is a very difficult venue and they are for sure one of the best teams in the league.
GET RID OF THE BACK FOUR ! if possible FREE RELEASE
I’m sure the gaffer will ring changes. In with Stearman at least, and maybe Margreitter.
I am sure that he will. He needs more time and patience to sort out the mess that he has inherited.
The full enormity of last season and seasons before lack of investment is now apparent.
The DROSS is still there. Clipboard is still there. Moxey and Morgan are still there.
Nice big Bank balance-wolves fans smell the coffee.
SS not allowed to bring in the quality he knows we need.
Look no further than the Boardroom. What a complete fuck up.
Decisions at board level have cost our club dear losing our hard earned and treasured Premier League status. Now we are scrapping around in a league where we are again likely to be found wanting. I fear that with an inexperienced manager ( in this league) we will be around this position all season with more prospect of relegation than the play-offs. Similar to the Graham Taylor/ McGhee season when we finished 4th bottom. I very much hope I’m proved wrong and would like to see SS be successful.
Look at clubs of similar / smaller size based in Sandwell and North Staffs where excellent decisions by their boards have appointed managers who they have supported to keep them in the league and to make shrewd value for money signings. They have also developed effective playing styles.
e.g. The appointment of Woy Hodgson at a similar stage of the season to the TC fiasco to keep them up.
Signing Ridgewell a LB we should have had him in when we signed Roger J.
Investing in the fees and wages for Crouch, Huth, KWJ etc, proven top quality PL players
They have still not grasped the nettle. TC should have departed before the end of last season taking a team with a reasonable chance of staying up to no-hopers in 3 games.
Remember the draws at Spurs and Arsenal and being very unlucky to drops points to Stoke, Norwich and Villa at a crucial stage. Apart from his last game, at least MM’s teams were competitive. The board supported him through the window and then a knee jerk reaction after one game that we could have got a result in but for a major error by our keeper.
They should have either sacked him before the transfer window or kept faith and in any event lined up a replacement of proven quality first.
In my view they need to get someone on the board as a Non – Executive Director who knows the game.
In terms of this league I agree that the defence is a major problem but I think the bigger problem is the overall shape of the team. Unless we are miles better than our opponents, which we are not, then at least in away games we need to be much tighter and play Sako behind a lone striker. There are very few teams playing 4-4-2 away from home now.
According to the WM commentary we are not working hard enough off the ball to close down the opposition and this needs to be a basic requirement even to survive.
At least the possible return of Henry and Foley gives potential for improved performances but a good centre mid-fielder must be secured on loan to give more options for a 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 system. I was disappointed this did not happen before the transfer window closed.
Just seen the goals on sky sports. As a fullback you are taught to make the tackle before you get in the box. And once in the box, you stay on your feet. Why the fuck do our fullbacks keep backing into the box before makin a tackle. This is a simple footballing tactic. Maybe the positive people can explain this to me. Zubar should be personally embarrassed. Second goal, where was our defensive midfield, covering the back four and stopping shots from edge of box. Third goal was a great free kick.
Stunning goals. Great performances by Whittingham. With Henry, Boukari, and possibly Margreitter we’ll be a lot stronger.
Boukari playing in place of whom ?
Take your pick, but squeeze him in somewhere.
that’ll be right back then
At least he was honest after the game and admitted we were shit defensively.
It is early days yet and I’m confident he can still turn it around. I get the impression he’ll make changes quicker than Mick would have done. Reckon he will get Batth and Foley in for the next game. Back four definitely need a shake up.
Positive? Sako seems like a player.
You won’t get Batth or Foley.
It’ll be Margreitter (who looks good to me) and Johnson. Stearman in for Zubar. And we’ll lose again
Batth to go out on loan before the next game… probably to Sheff Wed.
I had to follow the local radio commentary.Sounded like Zubar had a complete mare. Was Edwards the holding midfielder ? Where was the new system ? Without a string of saves from Ikeme It could have been worse it was Cardiff who attacked and defended as a team.
When you shop in the bargain basement, as wolves have been doing for the last couple of year you might occassionally find something worthwhile ie jarvis and kightley. But in the main, you are going to get not very good players. In 3 years we have signed doyle, fletcher and johnson and o hara that have cost a decent transfer fee. All from relegated teams. We have not signed anyone from a premiership 1st team. O hara was the nearest but redknapp couldnt wait to get rid of him.
The fans are being ripped off by the club and hopefully you will all realise this very soon as it will continue.
no chance. the wolves fan is a hardy beast and can withstand even the harshest bullshit (TC as Micks replacement for example) but refuses to work together.
Greedy ceo and owner will get richer, and we will lose our hair.
that is all.
We needed 2 or 3 defenders… what we got was 6 attacking players. it shouldnt be any surprise that this is the result.
stale, for some reason you have failed to diagnose and address the problem, you can put van persie and rooney up front, and we would still use 3-5 …
THE DEFENCE YOU NUMBNUTS !!! ITS THE FARKING DEFENCE !!!!!
Are they coming on loan??!!!
Don’t want Rooney, he’s injured.
My wife is clever, works with computers and data and stuff like that. One of her pet peeves is people entering wrong data.
Her actual expression is “Shit in, shit out”.
This very much applies to our defence. We still have the same shit players as last season, how the fuck can we expect anything more than the shit they served up last year?
We have the same shit TC, again, same question.
It just beggars belief that our owner, ceo, manager and trainers can think they can improve the bumbling imbeciles of our defence.
We paid off Nenad, let’s do the same to the rest of the useless twats.
How much are they affecting dressing room morale with their ineptness?
Get rid now, and while you’re at it Morgan, pay off TC, greasel and the other kowtowing parasites in the club.
Perhaps then our new manager can get some good loanees in, Ping Pong springs to mind, who will play with some passion, committment and ability.
And I’ve been telling y’all for years how fuckin’ useless Ward is, now is there anyone who doesnt agree???
Stephen Ward is the greatest footballer ever to wear a Wolves shirt.
I look forward to the Jack Harris stand being renamed the Stephen Ward stand and a platinum plated statue being erected in his honour 😉
At first glance this seems really harsh… but then you realise it’s totally true, a very good summary of our problems. Just as Mick before him, Solbakken has failed to shore up the defense. One note is that Magreitter is apparently injured, but other than that where were these new boys? Sigurdarson didn’t even make the bench!
Embarresed to be a Wolves fan at the moment. Look, I know its early but for pete’s sake, play a different scheme.. TC has to go and, a few players do as well.. Pissed off with the upper management, want their bonus’s I guess.
It pains me to say it, but Morgan only has to look about 6 miles up the road, and ask what are they doing so right, that we are doing so wrong.
Not felt this depressed since the mid eighties.. We seem to be going from bad to worse.
I could live with the Premier league kicking our arse, but not the championship as well.
Can anybody give me anything positive out of today….
Were we unlucky ???
Did we Compete ???
I know the answers cos I watched the game…..
More doom and gloom, cheer up Nige ” things can only get better ” I hope it’s sooner rather than later mind !!!
And just when I thought things were getting better………………………. they got worse.
“cheer up things can only get better hopefully soon” fook me, im glad you arent one of the blokes looking after our economy … do you honestly think that’s a sound rationale ? hope for the best ?? Why dont all the teams just do a lottery draw – highest number wins… then i would be happy to sit back and “hope for the best”
The last time someone said ‘things can only get better’ we got Tony Blair.
Boy, are we in trouble!
Does that mean I should start looking for a “Don’t you think he looks tired?” comment aimed at STS?!!!
i have NEVER known a wolves defence SO BAD ,,completely destroys anything we achieve in front of goal,,,,nothing has changed except the gaffer and i for one can only see a slide down the table until we sort the defence out,,, something that has been needed for a long time ,,there is something really wrong at the wolves and i think morgan IS the problem..come back sir jack!!
and to add to that albion are everything we are NOT! a well run club . great manager and a great squad.,,,basically we are NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!!!!!!!!PILE OF SHITE
couldnt agree more, if we needed a beacon non how it should be done, the **** down the road are just that.
Straight out of the bottom drawer. What a steaming pile of minge! Didn’t expect that. Why so many changes to the starting line up? I just don’t get the logic!
Wow! 4 games into a season an just look at the negativity! Ever heard the saying misery likes company? And what use to the squad are we if get on their backs and tell them how useless they are? If you want a team that plays within itself because the players are so scared to make a mistake because of the vitriol from the stands, then carry on.
The new manager needs time to turn the MM grafters into footballers, he needs time to shape his team properly. What he doesn’t need is for the fans to turn on him after 3 weeks! I see good things coming from the Manager – his signings look impressive and head and shoulders above anything left from the MM era. His team is struggling to gel, but it takes time, so lets get off his back and give him that time.
Personally if it takes 2 or 3 years to get out of this league, and at that time we are able to compete in the PL then thats better than returning after one year and struggling to cope in the PL.
Let Stales revolution take the time it needs to turn us into a proper footballing team, rather than the grafting clogging long ball team we’ve been watching for so long.
No
Can’t say I have ever heard that saying.
Anybody know Redknapps number !!!!
Carry on like this and this guy won’t be here beyond Christmas, let alone 2 to 3 years.
Yeah Rednapp would be great, just ask Portsmouth and the tax man!
Think Most Spurs fans would disagree with that right now…
One big difference, Spurs had 100+ million to give to ‘array. Just have some patience, your negativity is soul destroying and very very boring!
Sorry I have an opinion Jed
And that it appears to mirror our style of play…
One which so many people seem happy with..
I have no problem with your opinion, I just think it can do more harm than good especially to a team with a really fragile confidence.
The negativity generated last year didn’t have a great affect on the team, so how about trying something new, like becoming the 12th man for Wolves rather than their opposition?
Jed, are you seriously saying that any ills that come of this season are primarily down to fans’ negativity?
We are all begind SS. I know I am, but feel like he is bound by the constraints of a board (with history on this matter) that at best has questionable ambition and at worst, is incompetent.
Let’s not forget that Stale couldn’t purchase the 3 centre backs he asked for, (Savic, Sociadad bloke and Another chap whose name fails me)
Stale wants better centre backs. Stale asked for them. We didn’t get them for him.
Thus, it stands to reason that we ship goals like bears ship shits in the woods.
Hardly the fans’ fault. Or Solbakken’s.
No Ben, you miss my point, the fans have every right to be negative, I for one was probably one of the most negative people on here during MM’s last couple of years. My point is that the negativity won’t help us and can only hinder us, so why not try some positivity towards our new manager.
We can speculate on why we have the same defence as last year, but I’d bet that has more to do with Moxey than Stale.
To be calling for Stales head after 4 games is laughable, and creates an aura of disharmony that will affect the players even more. Time to change the record and see if we can help, cuz the moaning ain’t helping anyone!
Jed no one is calling for the managers head Yet.
Read all the posts.
We are all behind him and behind change.
The question is How long do we give him. ?
The clock is already ticking and he needs to put right some of the wrongs.

“We have signed 10 new players and it takes time,” said Mackay. “Some of them only met each other a couple of days ago, so I was delighted with the way they settled in. We now have strength in depth”
We do try and do that when we are at home.
My 11 year old daughter loses her voice each game shouting encouragement and cheering these guys on..
Only to go home disappointed.
But I didn’t cheer when the towers came down, nor when the Titanic sunk….
Both things could have been avoided, with the right actions.
LMAO, how can you compare a football club to catastrophes that cost thousands of lives? That’s the most dluded comment I have ever heard, and to be blatantly honest incredibly offensive and disrespectful.
Its Whats called being sarcastic Jed.
But you wouldn’t get that either, would you..
How long do we give him????? Are you serious? We give him 2 years minimum. This is a team in transition, with a new manager, can you not remember the hire and fire days? We were really successful back then weren’t we, NOT.
Tell you what why not fire him today and hire Steve Bruce….geez
Sarcasm isn’t an excuse for offensive and grossly disproportionate comments my friend. Nor is the personal attack.
I apologise If I offended you In anyway Jed.
That was not my intention.
We are clearly both very passionate fans who love our club, but have differing views on how things are going right now.
Lets hope that results improve, and we all find a reason to smile with each other on here.
I would love nothing more..
Jed does he get 2 years if we are relegated again ?
Do you seriously think we’ll be relegated? I think (hope) we have too much quality for that. Personally I think that in a few weeks we will start to fly. The team will click and we will soar to the summit.
in a few weeks we will start to fly ? i put it to you honourable member, that we will be unable to “fly” with the 4 lead weights at the back tied to our ankles. You may have a go at others for expressing their concern, but sadly, you cannot argue the facts and results. Look fwd to referring to your “thoughts” in a few weeks time. Joker.
that defence shud not play together again, zubar forget his passion and his fists up to the crowd shirt of and us thick fans chanting his name he is garbage ,cannot defend, marseille fans hated him, wardy weve always known your not gud enuf ,wen is the penny gonna drop ,ss i plead with ypu to drop them and berra, how can yu noy see it ,the chamionship is to gud 4 em,they cant be coached to be any gud they are damaged goods, its so painful watchin them play ,and cant beleive they are at the club
How did We not Sean O’Driscoll.
From Wolverhampton and looking like a class act in this league.
Full of positive encouragement and support for anything to do with WW management as ever.
Yes I know everyone is entitled to your opinion !!
It all becomes clear. When morgan and moxey were interviewing for managers imagine what they said to prospective managers. “It is likely we will get relegated with one of the worst teams/squads in premier history. We will be selling our best 3 players and you will be given £8-£10m to spebd while cutting the playing squad and wage bill. The players left all have had a 50% pay cut and we dont have a club captain. And if you still not sure about taking the job, we will give you terry connor. No wonder we had a queue of top class managers. I am not havin a pop at stale. YOU COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP
I agree with the general mood here and i have got to admit at laughing at some of the blogs but there are things i like about Stale and i wouldnt write him off just yet.
MY GOD! Our defence is awful… And I used to rate Zubar?! An how much are we missing Henry? Always said Foley was the best fullback at the club – hopefully not too long before we can use him, cause what we’re stuck with is UTTER SHITE. Hope Stale has loans lined up – seriously deflated after this, didn’t think it would be this poor…
So let’s look at the positives.
We have new pacey exciting players, they have only been together a matter of days, and we now have a merciful 2 week break.
Hopefully time for a real hard look at our “defenders”.
Time for Margerita to get fit, though how the fuck he’s injured beats me, he’s only been with us a week, and time to possibly get in a couple of loanee defence stiffeners.
Time to look at, and realize, that fatty Blake is a has been.
Time for us lot on this blog to calm down, and think about the best way to politely tell greasel at the next home match to fuck off.
And take Connor with him.
I agree we should not get on SS’s back, nor the players.
If we get rid of the dross, maybe the cream will rise to the surface.
Ben, get those sausages of yours crossed, but in a polite way!!
If we get rid of the dross there won’t be any squad left !!
Connor’s gone hope moxey’s next.
For god sake Boukari i, Sigurdarson are injured and Margreitter was on watching brief……GFive Stale time HE WILL GET IT RIGHT!
How do you know ? He didn’t get it right in Germany.
I had faith till he picked that defence against Cardiff.
How does Margreitter watching help ?
He didnt get it right in Germany cos Like Hodgson at Liverpool he was on a hiding to nothing from the start and he removed Podolski as Captain which didn’t go well.
Margreitter is a young defender who has noit played in the Championship and watching would give him an idea wghta to expect when he makes his inevitable debut next game. Berra and Johnsonb did ok in there last game so why wouldn’t Stale have faith against Cardiff. Zubar is a nightmare so hopefully Foley will play when 100% fit and Ward is ok.
Have faith pferdepferde it wioll come right 🙂
I bet you’d like the job really wouldn’t you ?? It can’t be that difficult can it ???
I have to say we have some wonderfully passionate fans, frankly I hope Moxey and morgan read this blog, We all make good points but some from different perspectives.
Of course we are all behind SS and the team. I watched the game through some stream and as far as I could make out our fans gave the team great support. No one is on SSs back. For me today was proof positive their are some real rotten apples in the barrel and we all no it only takes one.
OK we all know about Moxey, can read him like a book. But whats is so obvious to me is the awful execution of basics many of these players were not this bad when they joined. Our coaching stinks. The common thread i see is TC. If he is MMs mate he needs gone, of course he is going to try to make his mate look good and SS bad its business rule number 1.
Like Clive my wife is not dumb and followed Wolves since early 70s. She said two simple things today.
1: If you know our defence sucks and i know it why havent they fixed it, we are just fans they are profesionals. Answers on a post card please.
2: Then very simply, the management does not make it much fun being a lifel long Wolves fan do they?
The only positive from todays game and it took 5 glasses of wine to get there is that SS is playing jez and Morgan at their own game. Give me crap and peanuts see what you get. I am really convincing myself this is his plan. Simply dare them to fire him or give him some players.
The downside is they will do what they did with Mick and do nothing.
SS may up and leave by Dec.
Or we could buy the club, I will start with 75 quid
You will want some change from that, wont you?
Stale playing Jez and Morgan at their own game?
You could well have had the insight of the season.
We live and die each week with wins and losses, people who do this as a job take a longer view
NYWolf, what streams are there to watch the games? Can you post a URL please?
Business as usual, the saying “pay peanuts you get monkeys” springs to mind. The only thing that has changed is the bank balance, no surprise there. Who will be fired first? Solbakken or Brendan Rogers, maybe both! However Morgan & Moxey are the real criminals here.
Same old claptrap, change the record, at least until Nov/ Dec !!
Sure I will give SS time and room to sort it out. Sure I agree Jez has somehow pulled of his usual stunt of bringing in & “good” players, and putting a huge chunk of money into the disappearing pot. We know the weaknesses have known em for years. They have not been fixed, no argument or debate they have not been fixed.
SS has to work with what he has got but what really really disappoints me is that I saw little in the way of a gameplan, tactics, no organisation at the back as usual and lack of execution of the absolute basics, during the 2nd hallf I saw the worst defensive debacle I have seen in 3 years. I wowuld really have expected to see some signs of the new managers impact showing thru by know, not the finished article by any means but at least some attention to detail and basics. Our coaches and SS have to take some responsibility for what we saw. With a plan and good coaching even that team should have been capable of doing a little better.
I wonder how stears, batth, marga and elokobi would have faired today. None of them really did much wrong on Thursday night, why change the entire back four?
I’m behind stale and his signings will come good i am confident of that but there just is no reason to start a whole new defence today.
So glad I did not renew my season ticket! We are a club in reverse gear for sure. Good luck you happy clappy blind people who think all this will be ok. It really won’t. Well, not whilst this current set-up continues. I’m very pessimistic about what is happening at the Molineaux these days. Great new stand, great fans deserving of a much better team and management, and a clueless owner who should stick to construction work, who I really think doesn’t truly have his heart in Wolves any more. Most of the money made in player sales won’t be re-invested in players- that will be syphoned off for a rainy day – well let me tell you its absolutely pissing down over the old gold stadium at the moment!
Chris, I am beginning to share the same views.
Part of me wants to beleive this is a reality check for SS and he now knows what he has to work with. I would like to think Morgan has been on the phone to Moxey and he is crapping his pants, but I fear it will be business as usual.
Dreadful, wasn’t it? Not sure what DVDs SS has watched, but my expectations of a Martin O’Neill-esque revival of poor players has gone up in smoke. The MM- era players played every inch like MM- era players. They looked slow, had a poor first touch, and were out of position all too often when Cardiff had the ball. Zubar had a nightmare of epic proportions.
Sako apart, the new signings did nothing of note either. I’d clean forgotten that Peszko was on the field until his name was mentioned during his 85th minute substitution. Doumbia gave the ball away so often that he might as well have worn a red shirt.
The only exception was Ikeme, who pulled off a number of excellent saves.
Hats off to Cardiff; they played all the football. We, on the other hand, currently look like a good dark-horse bet for a second successive relegation.
Disappointing. I think things will be a little clearer come the Leicester game. By my reckoning Solbakken will only lose a handful of first-teamers for the international break so he has the best part of two weeks to work with this lot – if we can’t see some encouraging signs after that then I’ll be slightly concerned.
Would quite like to see us go 4-2-3-1 just to get some control of games. Fans will probably perceive it as negative but if it gives our attacking midfielders some real freedom to attack then I think it could be a positive.
Why not go something like this:
Ikeme; Foley, Johnson, Margreitter, Ward; Henry, Doumbia; Boukari, Sako, Peszko; Doyle.
Not sure on the forward – changing my mind on Doyle, SEB and Sigurdarson by the game.
Like last season and the season before, we need to go 4-2-3-1 because our back four is not good enough. Sadly, we’ve already established that the Doyle and SEB partnership doesn’t really produce enough goals, SEB on his own doesn’t work, Doyle on his own doesn’t work. Let’s hope Sigurdarson is the answer otherwise we’re in big trouble.
A week ago Thomas blogged that Zubar had just had another one of those games. My response was that sadly, I can’t remember the last time Zubar didn’t have ‘one of those games’. I’m still waiting. Wigan on Boxing Day 2010 was a particularly vintage performance where MM fielded a back six of Elokobi, Ward, Berra, Stearman, Foley, Zubar and we still managed to concede 2 and lose to our relegation rivals. I can still picture the scene as Jarvis and Fletcher, replacing Elokobi and Edwards (the mind boggles), combined on 87 mins to set up a grand stand finish. With Wolves needing to press in injury time Zubes picks up the ball at right back and, under no pressure, hammers the ball at ninety degrees out for a throw-in at left-back. I was coaching u9’s at the time and would have considered it unacceptable from an 8 year old. It’s the only time I’ve been moved to stand and boo an individual player. I’m not proud. It really was that bad.
After one game SS had seen enough of Stearman to drop him in favour of Christophe “too good for you lot in my own not very humble opionion but apparently no-one else’s” Berra. Three games later, SS is already concluding that Stearman looks a better right-back than Zubar. Very shortly he’ll be resorting to Foley before turning his attentions to left-back where failed striker but relegated ever-present Stephen Ward will eventually be replaced by heavy-weight George Elokobi, shortly after which he’ll realise that being the best defender in the current Wolves side (Roger Johnson) is as much of a compliment as being the best combative midfielder in the the current Wolves side (Karl Henry). In short, it will be at least January before we even get near to addressing a problem that every Wolves fan has been aware of for the last 4 or 5 years.
Hands up if you thought TC was a good appointment? Hands up if you thought it’s OK if we get relegated because getting out of the Championship is easy? Hands up if you thought these defenders are plenty good enough? Hmm… Just Morgan and Moxey then. We need a Director of Football and we need one now!
Wwwebs, Agree 100% we need a Director of Football and a good one who has full authorty.Moxey is a control freak ,so that wont happen, other than perhaps a token appointment, someone given the job title, but no authority . Clearly there is a defence problem, but if you coach kids ,surely you will understand it is more than that .We have a problem in midfield, not enough skill or bite, and we lack a cutting edge up front. It isn’t just the results it is the performances that are the worry. We also need to defend as a unit from the front and that is not happening. When the rot sets in,it is sometimes difficult to stop and everything seems to go against you,for example even Keogh has scored 12 league goals since he left us.Forest had decent players last season and nearly got relegated,if the club don’t start making the right decisions we could well be in a similar position by the end of the season. People criticise Mick McCarthy but our last 3 away games under him were a win at QPR, and draws at Arsenal and Spurs;that seems a long way off now.
A long way off indeed. We needed to invest in a better class of player whilst we were in the Prem. We got Eggert Jonsson and Lee Griffiths. We needed new ideas, we kept Terry Connor. We won’t be back in the top flight any time soon and it’s probably for the best as the board have proven themselves to be clueless about what to do when we get there. “This won’t happen again”. “No job for a novice”. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
I’m fickle…. And drunk , but Henry is the most important player we have.why ?? Cos we’re in the fuckin championship that’s why… We are delusional thinking we are gonna piss it back to the prem. that dream ended Friday. All the new flair won’t mean shit in this league if we don’t get stuck in!! Time to focus on our streetwise players bringing us on. the window is closed . Get over it. Foley in zubar out when fitness allows. Strears right now. Marg and rj plus ward at left back cos that’s all we have!! Boukari one side the pole the other with Henry and doumbia in the middle. Tongo pushin forward towards a saki in the hole behind a bustling nouble. Worrying defenders and a target for our wingers while knocking ball down to sako et al. Dunno might regret this in mornin but just how I feel. Pissed from all today’s beer. And pissed off from all today’s bullshit
some are, some arent delusional – when the transfer closed without us addressing the defence I told all and sundry we could forget promotion – in fact, not even i thought we would be as shit as we are. Yes, we have to play who we have on our books, but no, we dont have to like it.
Look forward to the lies and bullshit the wolves media machine shovels out in the coming weeks.
Still believe in ss tho! Just scourge the rest of the old set up!
Theres a lot to read here so sorry if this has already been said but my 2cents.
The new players we saw in the cup, hopefully with the international break they can get up to match fitness and make first team starts. Our defence is laughable but the new guys did look good. We need to see what they can do and try and out score teams before they realise we are inept in defence and do what cardiff did and ratchet up a score!
It’s all been said here already and not sure I have more to add other than how I continue to be baffled why this has been such a hard problem to solve. For years we have been saying the defence sucks and it needs fixing, all the way back to before we got promoted when Mick had to recall Craddock from his loan to Stoke. Fast forward and we still have most of the same clowns at the back. We havent had a decent right back since Dennis Irwin and havent had a natural left back since Lee Naylor. Why has this been such a hard problem to fix? We had made it to the top league, even survived a couple of seasons; all we had to do was spend some money on a decent defence and we would have been ok. Instead we started a series of shambolic events leading to the downward spiral we now find ourselves in! Can anybody tell me why?
Finally, on this whole “give Solbakken time” business, I ask “time for what”? He has had all the time he needed already to figure out that the team needs to fix the defence. And he hasnt. With all due respect to him, I am sure he knows his football and I am sure he has some grand ideas on how he would like Wolves to play, but then again, so did Glenn Hoddle. And we’re about to repeat the same episode. This is not La Liga and Wolves are not Barca. How long do we need to give him until we accept that he has wasted the summer, claiming to be studying the DVDs, keeping the same defence and starting a season with probably the least prepared team we have had in years? Because in truth, that is all he has done. Could he really have not shown a little more urgency with his preparations?
What if we are still 19th by Xmas … will that be enough time then? Will he still need more time then to show us what he can do? What do you all think he can REALLY do, with THIS defence?!!
I think you’re being a bit unfair to Stale. He’s acknowledged the defence needs improving. He’s tried to sign a couple centre halfs and got this Marg guy. He came out himself and said he has to wait until the Fletch and Jarvis deals go through before they can look to buy players, meaning he potentially missed out on players he wanted. He had about a week to sign players he wanted.
Now he can start to stamp his style on the team. I’m not saying that this will bring us win after win but it’s going to be a long season if you’re getting on his back after 4 games. Lets just see what happens over the next couple of months and then make judgement.
Absolutely! You’re the lady :=*
I’m not trying to be unfair. I’m just expressing what I see. And personally I think he could have done more than what he has so far, and he hasnt fixed the defensive problems. I dont need him acknowledging the obvious. I need him fixing it. And he hasnt. I dont buy this having to wait until the sale of Fletch and Jarvis BS. They all knew they were going. Only question was about whether they could squeeze a couple more millions which they did. So I see no reason why Morgan couldnt have fronted the money to get more defenders earlier than the sale of the players. It’s just an excuse.
I too would like to see him stamp his style on the team, like you say. But please tell me what style do you really expect him to stamp on Richard Stearman? Or Berra? Or Ward? Zubar? They’re still the same donkeys at the back. He cant turn them into race horses. That is my point. I’m not pissed off because of a couple of bad results. I’m pissed off because he too has failed to fix our defence. And we are stuck with that now, and giving him a couple of months is not going to change it.
Like someone else in this debate put it: if we as fans keep seeing that our defence sucks, year in, year out, why can’t these pros see it? I dont get it.
But I’ll try to take your advice and be patient. We’ll see 🙂
I agree that the defence is not good and I would have liked to see some more reinforcements bought in the transfer window but I am willing to give SS time. Plenty of teams have been promoted after a shitty first half of the season so I don’t see any reason to panic after 4 games. I’m hoping to see progress between now and christmas but then if it’s still all tits up I think we have a right to complain.
Our defence is one of the best in championship – when the team functions as a unit. Ward is more than good enough, Johnson one of the best central defenders, Stearman and Zubar is more than good enough. Maybe Edwards became to offensive away against Cardiff which are playing with 3 central midfielders. Maybe Wolves should play 4-5-1 away from home?
Let’s agree to disagree on this one. That’s ok!
UTW!
BWAHA HA HA HA AHA AHA HA AH AHA HA HA AH AH AHAH AHA AAAA !!!!!!!!!!\
Steady on our kid, reach into your pocket and take your meds….
What planet did you say you are on?
Crikey!
A fair amount of comment – not much of it complimentary. A bit late to stick my oar in but here goes. SS has bought quite a few players; mostly attacking when it could be argued that defenders were the priority. He obviously bought them because he felt they were an improvement on what we had.
SO WHY THE SAM HILL DOESN’T HE PLAY THEM!!!
OK THERE MIGHT BE A COUPLE OF INJURIES BUT WHY DOESN’T HE PLAY THE ONES WHO ARE FIT????
HE MIGHT THINK THAT THEY ARE NOT MATCH FIT BUT IF HE THINKS THEY ARE BETTER THAN THE PRESENT TEAM WHY DOESN’T HE START WITH THEM AND THEN IF THEY RUN OUT OF PUFF TOWARDS THE END OF THE GAME WE CAN BRING ON REPLACEMENTS. THERE IS JUST A CHANCE THAT BY THEN WE MIGHT BE IN A WINNING POSITION!!!
THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL PROVE THAT THEY CAN CUT IT AT THIS LEVEL IS TO GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO PLAY!!!
Caps lock off. Oh! sod it! Back on again.
PLAY THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good news at last !! Connor sacked but eight months too late
Egads – first bit of good footie news for a while !!
Tell me we’re in the market for 2 quality loan defenders and I might even crack a smile !!
Hopefully with Connor gone we can start coaching these players properly and develop a system that actually works.
UTW
Agree! Our defence is hardly a glowing tribute to his coaching is it?
There is a God-now perhaps SS can get things sorted and the DROSS haven’t got anywhere to
hide. Wonder what happened behind closed doors. Is MM about to get a job?
No more Clipboard-I am starting to feel better.
like like like like like….
….everyone has a right to their opinion. I get that. But these days nothing ruins my day more than reading though the comments page of this blog after a bad result. Of course people deserve to be unhappy – I was unhappy with the result and the manner of it as well – but when I read people claiming we’re relegation favourite and all this ‘laughing stock’ stuff when really we’re pretty much under the radar now we’ve been relegated… all you need to do is look at Nige’s regular comments which are all pretty much the same thing and the number of likes his hate-filled posts get – again, his opinion, can’t change it, just making a point.
Ben and Thomas, your blogs are top-notch but honestly I’m on the verge of staying away from the comments…the overwhelming negativity around here is stifling. So much anger is not good for the soul…
ok let me see if I understand this… folk are entitled to their opinion as long as they do so within the confines of what you find acceptable ? Interesting.
I dislike some of what I read too, and when It gets a bit much I simply close down the window. I would hate however for this and any other blogs not to exist for fear some people might not like what was being written.
Not what I’m saying at all – I don’t want to come off as saying al these opinions should be dismissed and ridiculed just ‘cos they’re negative, but when there’s so much of it it’s hard to take. You read this comments you’d think Wolves are in a rapid downward spiral with little to no hope in the immediate future. I disagree with that, but I’m not gonna preach my views as fact. I can understand the negativity but there is a hell of a lot of that ’round here!
His point is that its all negative stuff which is tedious. Its not debate when its all one sided and those who dare to differ are derided or bullied by the masses.
Its easy to be negative, which is why so many people jump on the bandwagon.
Here here Hamlet, this site is fast descending into what i hate about all the other forums, intense negativity of the comments and doom and gloom.
you want more positivity? Connor is kicked! Another remnant from the mick era disappears. No reason for the sacking. If he’s sacked there must be a reason for it. I would wage a bet on lack of support for the new regime. Anyone with inside information who can shed some light on the matter?
Oh my, Hamsterlet, how it must be great to be young.
When you are as long in the tooth as a lot of us on this blog you will have come to realize that it is the lot of a Wolves fan to bemoan and grumble and be negative.
Don’t you know that one of the first rules about being from ‘Hampton is that you are only happy when truly miserable!!
Deep down we are secretly gloating about having a crap defense, its the old inverted snobbery syndrome.
Like the miserable git who went his whole life complaining that he would never own a Roller, and on his death bed was happy that he had been right all along!!!
Get over it, the sun will come out tomorrow!
As ever, FOWB
that’s the second time today you’ve written ize instead of ise. tut tut
Hamlet you must take it all with a pinch of salt!
A mate of mine was saying that he was disappointed that Stale isn’t doing a better job, but I blame the ownership for not investing in the squad and making more effort to keep our best players, a la Newcastle, or West Ham.
Is it any wonder that they handed in transfer requests when being given a 50% pay cut? – and look at the impact that they’ve already had in the Prem. Had M&M not been so focussed on the bottom line then maybe they could have relaxed things somewhat.
We must have got, what? 29 Million for them + parachute money. You can’t tell me that that didn’t give us enough financial leeway to offer decent transfer fees and wages for GOOD defenders.
We’ve needed good defenders for years, we’ve all said it over and over again, but still they aren’t there.
I’m not surprised we’re crap – we were terrible in defence last year. Really terrible, and the level of the Championship isn’t so far below any more!
I hope things improve now TC has been sacked and the last vestiges of Big Mick’s ‘hoof and hope’ tactics are swept away.
Interesting timing with the TC dismissal – scapegoat for the poor start to the season I wonder??
I remember the match against Leeds, in the last part of the second half, if I remember right. Connor spoke to Solbakken, Solbakken just ignored him and Connor just shaked his head almost as if in disbelief, despaired. Did he take it for granted that Solbakken reacted positively to what he said? I personally think that gesture was disrespectful to Solbakken – it did send wrong signals regarding Solbakken as an authority as a manager.
I think basic coaching has been a huge weakness for us for several years. I have seen good players come in and lose sharpness. I dodnt know but fear TC or his staff were not getting it done.
SS has already mentioned that he thought we were over doing fitness and conditioning training which suggests he was unhappy with the lack of “Football” training and ball practice. The right decision was made for several reasons today. New man needs new start and own people. TC is MMs mate so clealry wanting to show MM up in a good light. I think he has interfered, if not it is clearly thought he has.
Really enjoying the back and forth views and find myself agreeing with most. SS needs time and support. But negative comment especially with sensible suggestions and input is healthy.
Hell we have just seen our wonderful club humbled in South Wales for the same old reasons we been seeing for years. It hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are wounded we react! Its healthy and human. I for one would be worrying if we did not react that way, that would be plain sick and scary. Having said that why didnt JM and SM react?
I wonder if greasel has to sleep on the couch, now his wife’s sister’s husband is on the dole?
Doubt it, coz any one who married that fat greasy turd is not really in their right mind anyway, so its probably bizzo as usual in the greasepit on Perton Ridge.
Have the positive people thought they maybe in the minority for a reason. I totally disagree with personal abuse, but i really enjoy reading other fans point of view even if i disagree with it. If the club turn it around, then please say i told you so. If we carry on being shit, i will say i told you so
42 games left ! Onwards and upwards. As I said time to get stuck in. Hopefully Sunday was a turning point. Best of luck tc
