As the managing director of a client succinctly told me a little while back, ‘I don’t really care what you’ve done until now, but more keen to know what you’re planning for the future.’

So with those words still ringing in my ears, I’ll save you the time of reading a dated match report from Ashton Gate, as you’d have read it all by now.
In an attempt to be constructive, I’ll look ahead to the next game and offer some sage words of advice to our increasingly beleaguered manager Kenny Jackett who, for the first time in his Molineux tenure, can feel a genuine sense of pressure after this abomination in Bristol.
Play Jordan Graham and Nathan Byrne out wide
Sure we’ve missed Sako’s mercurial devilment and Nouha Dicko’s goals, but putting both reasons to one side for a moment, I’ll simplify even further.
We lack pace.
A key feature of Kenny Jackett’s otherwise successful reign until now has been searing pace in a 4-2-3-1 system.
James Henry is looking more like a bargain League One buy from Millwall with every passing game, with a shocking deterioration in final ball quality.
Drop him and give these two a chance for six consecutive games and see where we are. Jet heeled outlets on both flanks, rather than stodgy, lop-sided, monotonous build-up play is now required.
Play 4-2-3-1
Formations don’t win games, granted, but when I am getting a tour of the fabled academy in my first Fans’ Parliament meeting and the coaches are eulogising over this very system, then surely it’s a philosophy of some repute?
It’s the only system we play well – and win well – with.
Losing Sako was clearly a blow, but throwing the whole Bakary out with the bath water has been self-inflicting folly.
Jack Price
Surprisingly, he might not be the messiah to some, but Opta Stats would probably tell you that we average 2pts a game when plays.
What’s more, he brings the best out of Kevin McDonald and forges a compelling partnership in the heart of our side. Didn’t last season prove that this team is only as good as such partnerships within it?
And I’m not saying this for effect, but he would be the first name on my teamsheet, not the 15th or 16th, owing to sheer weight in 8/10 performances.
Drop Conor Coady, admit your failing Kenny, and play Jack Price from the start for the next six games, as I would urge you do with Graham and Byrne.
David Edwards
While I still think he is far from the answer and should never play the bulk of 46 league games if we were serious about automatic promotion, I do concede he has been effective.
In an indictment to the rest of the team, he’s probably been our player of the season.
So he has to play in the 4-2-3-1 system in that position that suits him, behind Benik Afobe.
Let’s be realistic here, we are a million miles away from promotion so such debates about Edwards’ inclusion are irrelevant anyway.
We need to avoid relegation. Edwards’ goals would go a long way in preserving our league status, so play him.
I’m sorry to say, but when your owner has deserted you, you’ve sold your best player for reasons unknown and there are no outward signs of ambition visible, 12th place must be considered a real success this season.
As for a Bristol City report, let’s just move on and forget about it as quickly as possible!

Good stuff mate. I agree with each and every point.
I have a lot of admiration for Kenny Jackett and to be fair, given the resources he’s being asked to work with, I think we’re about par for the season. But he has been his own worst enemy at times with the constant chopping and changing.
As I always say with managers, it’s only worth contemplating a change if a) you can say with authority that they’re to blame for results and b) you can get someone better.
I wouldn’t be confident enough on either point just yet to consider giving Kenny the flick. Would anyone?
After two good seasons I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt this year, assuming we don’t get dragged into relegation strife.
Without wanting to dwell, Sako and Dicko were the players who made this team better than a lot of others. They were never going to be replaced with like for like quality (because we don’t spend enough) so I fear whatever KJ does, we’ll never consistently outperform Championship opposition.
– Jackett didn’t ring any changes from the Birmingham match.
– Last time Price played we lost. Then Price lost his place to Coady, which took his chance well and delivered a solid performance against Bham. I think the manager should be allowed to ring changes when he feels it’s necessary; based on performance or tactical dispositions. Nobody has a free ticket – which is good.
i was having the exact same discussion elsewhere … morgan has gone crying to mummy, kenny has lost his meds, and moxey is as usual in back in the pantry stuffing his face completely non-plussed. with no owner to sanction any big decisions we have to stick with kenny, this threadbare and inexperienced side need holding together until somebody can come along and breathe new life into the club.
got a sneaky feeling too that afobe knows he’s off in Jan, his agent and moxey have everything ready to go and are simply counting down the days til the window opens.
not quite the season we wuz all anticipating eh.
bah humbug.
I don’t think premier league clubs are willing to meet the 15m valuation, if he don’t start to banging them in again. And it’s not certain Aston Villa still is interested (new manager). Then there’s “only” Norwich ,Newcastle and wesbrom interested.
I honestly thought we would turn city over last night I predicted 3 0 or 4 if we got the first goal so silly me!! I agree with most things everyone has said, I would take mid table now they way we are playing, Kenny seems to say the same thing when we lose! We never turned up, or the other team wanted it more! Fuck me tell our boys to turn up and want it more, c’mon!!!
We are such a Jekyll and Hyde team at the moment,I just want to see some passion and pride in wearing the wolves Jersey and make us proud!
I heard a phrase a while ago ‘trying to play at football managers are you’ -‘with your experience..’lol
Well..we all are and it just could well be that it’s come down to us choosing the team because re Coaching tactics and team (changes !) KJ shows he’s totally bewildered in this league..
If we can beat blues how on earth can we be loosing (lost ) to a relegation side the next game.?
It can only be KJ not the players I would LOVE to hear his team talk and tactics in the dressing room…
‘Flip a coin do what you want’ perhaps …
A phrase here ‘in kenny we trust’
trust in what? You must be f….g joking..
I’m going to Ipshit soon to see the that bloody Irish smile again ..Jacket currently makes McCarthy look like the professor of football..
Beware the 5 minutes before half-time.
Against Bolton I said to the bloke next to me “if we can hold on to 1-0 for the next three minutes then we stand a good chance of turning this round in the second half”. Bang! E-BL goes AWOL and gives away the penalty. Against Derby I thought if “we can hold on until half-time, we can still be in this game”. Penalty followed by defence all asleep at a corner. Last night coming up to half time, we give away a goal. Scoring before half-time gives the scorers momentum into the second half and puts us on the back foot.
The stats don’t lie. Out of our 15 games so far in 3 of them we’ve conceded within 2 or 3 minutes of half-time. That’s 20% of our games we’ve got sloppy before half-time. Most sides with reasonably proficient players know how to neutralise a game – watch any side playing to hold on to a slender lead. The Wanderers know how to do it as they neutralised the game against Brighton when down to 10 men. The problem is they’re not getting the call from the bench to smother the game until the half-time whistle goes. It’s not rocket science but it’s cost us points dearly this season.
I always remember Dave Brailsford, the brains behind GB Track cycling, and now Sky’s Road Racing Team, saying it’s the attention to the very small details that added together start to make a big difference. WWFC could well start by killing the game in the run-up to half-time. At the current rate of half-time leakage we’ll have given away more than ten by the end of season. Management, please pay attention and stop thinking of your half-time Bovril.
Perhaps I was ‘slightly on edge’ there about KJ…’you sit there with your blinkered philistine’…John Cleese Monty Python..1971
Almost feel guilty..
Am I the only one not surprised. The Birmingham game was a complete red herring. The Blues were absolutely useless and that is the only reason we won. Once Iorfa nullified Gray they were finished. Even Blues fans said that is what was coming as they had been very poor to watch for a while. Dave Edwards was anonymous in that game other than scoring. Coady, one great run and I thought he is the box to box player we have been waiting for, sadly not! This division is shocking. Not one quality team who will dominate it which makes our lack of investment and ambition all the more galling. KJ is a yes man, a mid table Championship manager, no better. We are where we deserve to be. Grant Holt? Is that our future? I’m afraid we all need to realise this is the future for our wonderful club. The people at the top will keep on saying how wonderful the fans are without once being honest with us. I hope I am wrong but I fear a visit back to League 1 is not far away!
The bride’s nightie was right down and firmly clamped between her thighs last night.
I give up on Wolves, i really do.
Predicting their performance that is.
I’ve been up to my knees in mud, clay, water and frogs today and I’m cold, wet, dirty and fed up communing with pond life.
Can’t really think of anything constructive to say so I’m off to get warm, dry, clean and pissed.
Much more of this and I will be calling for Jackett to go, the main reason is his, stobuness to keep tinkering with players tactics and formations he said after a dozen games we would have a good idea of we’re the seasons going and his best team, will Kenny it’s go down the pan and YOU are the main reason.
Regardless of personnel you got what you’ve got you brought the loan players in you brought Coady, Byrne there all your players. But your still pissing about either playing them out of postion, playing them one game and not the next.
Your blind faith in some players reminds me of a previous manager, he didn’t listen didn’t see the warning signs ploughed on regardless and the sack and 2 relegations followed.
As Ben as said what you did in the past was amazing in such short space of time, but it’s the here and now that matters and it not looking good far from it.
No one can live on past glories, in any job profession that’s a fact of life.
The real problem we have is surely the coach. Mr Jacket is clearly way out of his depth. Endless changes of strategy and playing style must leave all players utterly confused.
Last night, having seen his team play very effectively and achieve a result just 3 days earlier, our coach mysteriously abandoned the successful playing style at half time and reverted to a method no one seemed to understand. A 14 million pound striker, who for much of this season has received almost zero support, was withdrawn and replaced by a plodder in his 35th year, who has not started a game in 2015, and who could not get a game with Wigan in Division 1. In support we introduced ALF who similarly is not considered good enough for Cardiff City, who themselves can barely muster any goals. Worse, we then introduced a mediocre division 1 standard full back as a winger, leaving the winger who scored a great goal Saturday sitting on the bench. Where is there any logic in all of this ? The lunatics seem to be running the asylum.
Mr. Jacket is simply floundering. He tinkers endlessly, seeming to not have a clue as to what he is trying to achieve. No team can prosper with such indecisiveness and lack of continuity at the coaching level. Burnley at the weekend will almost certainly be yet another disaster, following which we will be fed a further dose of excuses and promises for a rosier future.
We are rapidly becoming a bigger joke than was the case even in the Dean Saunders era – and that surely takes some doing
I think the only person who got his tactics spot on yesterday was Doogooder.
He DIDNT go to the match, even though it was in his back yard, and I bet he sweated more than the whole Wolves team put together, digging his Olympic size swimming pool.
(Don’t be fooled by his “fish pond”, I’ve seen the Google Earth pics, it’s a frigging big pool, and he has allegedly invited all fellow bloggers to a pool warming party, free ale and everything!!))
With regard to Jackett, I fear he has been fucking around with selections and tactics on purpose, since the summer, when he saw the writing well and truly on the wall.
He knew there would be sod all money for decent players, and has done the only thing possible, messing around with the team so much results were bound to be in the toilet, so hoping to get sacked, and have his contract paid up.
His problem, if this is true, is that there will be no payout coz blob the builder, no doubt assisted by greasel, will have squirrelled away any spare change, including Stearman’s sale money, and they will plead poverty, the Fifth, senile dementia and any other excuse to not pay up.
Also, if true, KJ needs a kick up the arse on his way out of the door for being a yes man too long, and not having the balls to tell his customers, us, the truth.
There is a lot more to all of this than meets the immediate eye, and I wait with baited breff for more installments.
And Afobe, if you happen to read this, there are tens of thousands of ex footballers out there who thought they were worth an inflated price, and didn’t bother to try.
The operative word is Ex.
FOwb
The only bright spot in an otherwise horrible night at Bristol for me was when the old boy behind me fetched his mobile phone out. I kid you not it must have been 20+ years old and then he turned to me and said he’d removed all the German sounding names from his contacts list. Puzzled, i asked why and he said that now he can use it “Hans Free” 🙂
Ex tenebris lux dear friends, keep smiling!
Line up for Saturday: 1.Gary Gonzalez 2. Gary Gonzalez 3. Gary Gonzalez 4. Gary Gonzalez 5.Gary Gonzalez 6. Gary Gonzalez 7. Gary Gonzalez 8. Gary Gonzalez 9. Gary Gonzalez 10. Gary Gonzalez 11. Gary Gonzalez. In a christmas tree formation with Gonzalez tucking in behind Gonzalez. Burnley won’t know what’s hit them.
Firstly we need a new Owner.
It has to be the priority.
He/She will change the CEO and the manager.
Until then, in reality, we are stuck with Morgan, Moxey and Jackett.
The lack of ambition at Molineux must be infectious.
Certainly appears to have filtered down to the players.
Why should they care, unless trying to impress in order to be transferred?
My hope is someone comes in and buys the club because they love Wolves like we do.
The over paid ‘Brickie’ (Morgan) putting ‘Redrow’ before the Wolves has ruined Sir Jack’s dream…
Hopefully we will stay up but it will be a battle…..
Nice post Robin.
Basic facts are
That we are head coached by a yes man who realises that tinkering around is the only option following ponderous performances on the pitch.
We had an owner who ran when the tough times started in contradiction to his own Spin (sorry Marketing Dept)
We have a CEO who loves nothing better than spouting bullshit, making false promises and blaming every decent fan rather than look at his own massive failings.
We have a Head of Recriutment (Thelwell) who on the basis of who we’ve signed over the past two years, is well, utterly useless.
We’ve just signed two players on loan and for the life of me even I can’t see how Grant Holt will improve us.
Gents we are where we are because we deserve to be … We’re just an average … And getting worse team in an unimpressive Championship league.
Doesn’t bode well does it ….. Still the senior management look as tho they’ve got a good handle on the situation ….. JOKE !!
When any manager admits his team is flat , didn’t want it badly enough , and is concerned about their ability to break defences down and defend with concentration ; he is admitting his inability to motivate, and his realisation that his buys , tactics and team selections are inadequate and inferior to opposing teams in this division . Any manager admitting this needs to admit he is out of his depth .Kenny jackets record is ” success with Millwall ” lower half of championship and “promotion with wolves” from league one . With the players at his disposal last season we should have been promoted , not a failed attempt at play offs . This season with a squad bigger and supposedly better than perhaps four or five clubs , we languish in 15th place and dropping by the week . It won’t happen but what’s needed is a motivational manager who knows what his players can do , where they perform best , and pick a team and formation to start winning . On current form , bottom six a probability , let’s hope its not three places lower
Well said Graham.
Last night’s performance really showed up Kenny and Joe Gallen’s inadequacies as a coaching team.
It has been said elsewhere, but these are KJ’s players, who he signed, including some that he has packed off on loan (Saville & Rowe). Their failure to perform consistently as a team is down to him, JG and Thelwell.
I have been patient with KJ, but Ashton Gate took the biscuit.
By his own admission:-
“In both halves, we didn’t work Bristol City’s goalkeeper nearly enough. We couldn’t break them down. When they got the first goal we put two up front to affect them but, going forward, we didn’t link the play, looked flat and didn’t trouble their goalkeeper.”
So please Kenny explain your decision to introduce a bloody right back into a misfiring midfield instead of turning to Price or Ojo or Graham. I and everyone around me were spitting feathers and completely mystified. To make matters worse the players looked like they didn’t have any idea what the master plan was and had never played together before last night.
Bristol City did nothing apart from score, but they were up for it and wanted it more than we did.
Don’t be fooled, this wasn’t a one off (Brentford at home anyone?).
So will someone at Wolves from the management, coaching staff and players, please justify the ridiculous salaries that you all earn and turn this around quickly?
If this continues we are nailed on for relegation.
UTW!
As things stand, you could debate things for hours and still be no nearer to knowing whether we’ll come out and batter Burnley on Saturday, roll over and take a spanking or play out a tedious bore draw.
It might be harsh on Coady, but I think Price is such a consistent performer and because he works so well with KMac that I’d have the Salop Pirlo straight in.
Just like when we used to throw Leon Clarke on if everything else failed, I’m not exactly convinced Holt and Le Fondre offer a good enough Plan B. Better than Leon maybe, but not the quality you need if you’re serious about pushing for promotion.
Eureka. Iv’e got it, by George Iv’e got it.
There are two Kenny’s.!
Think about it.
Kenny A, Manages “the basic’s” game at Brooom, understands what’s needed, motivates the team, brings in Williamson and Brings back Jordan Graham, (as far as Grant Holt goes, see Kenny B)
Kenny,B. Can’t be arsed, can’t motivate the team, can’t spot a basic problem, can’t change his bad habit of tinkering. Only Kenny B, would drag off our most skillful player on the night, our only trier on the night and to top it off drag off a proven goalscorer who just needs some bugger to feed him the ball to his feet, the front of his feet, not behind him Christ’s sake.
Only Kenny B, would take off a midfielder and replace him with a complete plank when we’re losing 1-0. Then he states Grant Holt is there to support Afobe, REALLY, REALLY if that is true then My arse is a kipper.
He’s like a Gardener with Dementia, the plot is well and truly lost.
He has lost this fan, I am resigned to More of the same, seeing out this season and the next probably, being embarrassed by a team devoid of all enthusiasm and drive until someone comes in and shakes the tree until all the rotten apples drop out. Then we can start again.
I was never a Millwall fan and we are not a Millwall team mark 2.
Come on Cheeseburger of Deaf, let’s get this stimulated again with some of your chemically assisted humour.
:-(((.
Perhaps he’s alcoholic Stu? –
Those tiny burst veins in his cheek bones are a giveaway…..
That’s Apoplexy Robin, caused by years of frustration and stress from watching our yoyo boys.
I love doogooders expression, “fed up cummiuning with Pond Life”
I hope he’s not referring to us fellow bloggers.
I was watching Pond Life last night, quite a few single cell individuals on the pitch. Comes to something when the ref has the best game.
There’s only two Kenny Jackets, only two Kenny Jackets, there’s onky two Kenny Jackets …….
The problem with Wolves right now goes beyond team selection and game results. The problem is fundamental: they are entirely rudderless. They are void of leadership at the top; nobody instilling a vision for the club, rallying the club to a common goal, or motivating the coaches and players. Nobody at the top cares.
The club is soul-less. Abandoned.
This is the legacy of Steve Morgan, who evidently was only interested in the club for quick and easy financial gain, and quit as soon as he saw it was not quite so simple. Nobody abandons a passion or something they love. Ever. By abandoning our club, Morgan confirmed he was never passionate or even cared about Wolverhampton Wanderers.
So here we are. Leaderless, unclear about the future, no funds or direction, players demotivated (some of which not even good enough to be in the team), coach losing interest … I presume nobody is still seriously discussing or expecting promotion, right?
Wolves right now need a serious investor to buy the club and lead it to the vision that the investment would deserve. Until that happens, nothing else will matter. Doesn’t matter if we change KJ, plug in a few more cheap loanees, tinker with the formation … leadership and desire has to come from the the top, and it isn’t there.
Wolves board of directors have to step up and make something happen to ensure the club’s future. Before it is too late.
Come on Wolves. We’re better than this!
Go Wolves
I cannot believe people are saying that Wolves have no ambition. Didn’t Jed Wallace, when he signed, say:
” The club’s ambition is staggering. They are really gunning for promotion.”
I wonder who told him that. My guess is that Morgan dazzled him with the money spent on the training ground and academy and Jed thought that other signings would follow.
Mr Morgan – as soon as the parachute payments started running out – so did he.
Steve Morgan said “Sir Jack said that I had had a heart transplant to Wolves. He was wrong. I had a full body transplant.”
Words as empty as all those war chests he used to talk abut.
On the immediate issues playing side i see pretty much eye to eye with Ben.
On Kenny some fans see a very good manager hampered by a squad that is inadequate and players that arent good enough. The way things have gone this season i think it is actually the other way around. With the squad and players we have got we should be doing better and i am afraid the buck stops with the manager.
Some fans are in for a big reality check. Now the club is up for sale i expect all incoming transfers will have to be self funded. Over the next 12 months the priority will be to off load players and make the squad appreciably smaller.
But i expect Kenny to stay in the job for some time yet and as long as he has got the support of a majority i havent got a problem with that. His career as Wolves manager probably peaked last season. Long term in the Championship his battle is to survive – that his is level.
Evening Stu wolf. I fully understand everybody is fed up and despondent right now. Me too. I want to see our beloved Wolves in top six prem like we all do. It’s just that right now it is a million miles away and has been for 35 years. But hey ! We are Wolves ay we. It is all part of being a Wolves fan. The eternal failures. The ‘potential’. The stadium. The ‘big club’ perceptions. It’s all been said above by better bloggers than me. Stu mate. I will now go away for a day or two and come back and cheer you up with a pre-Burnley prediction. Alcohol assissted. Probably. Cheer up everyone. It could be worse. You could be Adrian Chiles…
Good man,
There are some really funny guys on this site.
After the M&M’s have sucked the lifeblood from our club, our team and us, all that’s left is our Wolverhampton Banter.
Enjoy your days away and come back ready to fight on.
COYW’s
For W insert Wonkers
Mr Doogooder the heavy weight of opinion here is resting on your mate KJs shoulders…all his own doing..
The white coats have spoken…
who’s going to eventually take him away….?
Mr Showcase
Do you mean my mate KJ or me?
Prob both of you…(if you still think KJs got his head in gear)
Just to add, still remember dicko being subbed at 1/2 time v QPR until then we were playing well, think this was the start of the slippery slope, then we have the GK situation. What did Ikeme do wrong ? (Nothing). Send the Arsenal man back and play our Wolves man who did f–k all wrong. Agree that KJ seems to be losing the plot.
I think KJ is now a dead man walking.
I’ve no confidence in him anymore, just a matter of time before Moxey sacks him, which in turn will deflect any criticism that would be coming his way from the fans, which incidentally won’t be long.
KJ the scapegoat hung out to dry by not being backed, and then panicking with desperation trying different formations which none seem to work.
Once he has gone, only an idiot would come and work under the present regime.
Until as new owner arrives with ambition we are truly stuffed.
The players will bail him out ..or not..I just wish he was a leader..,
Steve,
I agree mate. Your know my background, and leadership and management are two separate areas that I have been involved in for a long time now. There are a number of definitions of both, but the one that I consider to be most appropriate and in my view the correct one is:
Leadership involves:
1. Establishing a clear vision,
2. Sharing that vision with others so that they will follow willingly,
3.Providing the information, knowledge and methods to realise that vision, and
4. Coordinating and balancing the conflicting interests of all members and stakeholders.
A leader steps up in times of crisis, and is able to think and act creatively in difficult situations. Unlike management, leadership cannot be taught, although it may be learned and enhanced through coaching or mentoring.
In essence it is the act of inspiring subordinants to perform and engage in achieving a goal (no pun intended but quite apt in this instance).
I am very interested in our next few games and I believe that our true position will be confirmed after Christmas. If Kenny were to leave, that should only happen at the end of the season in my opinion.
Spot on Ben. the only thing we need to add is get rid of the Arsenal 4th choice and put Ikeme back in. A proper Wolves keeper.
I am begining to come to the conclusion of a lot of other bloggers is that the problem is KJ not the team. At the time he was appointed I wondered WHY? over 2 seasons I began to think I was wrong. WAS I? now I doubt it. He looks completely lost and bewildered, maybe we should ring up Terry Wogan and ask him if there is any room left in his home for the said bewildered.
I doubt if things will change much any time soon, in my experience people who have been over promoted tend to keep digging themselves into more trouble when they have been rumbled and unfortunately for us poor supporters KJ has been rumbled and there appears to be nobody prepared to take his spade away and stop him digging (tinkering).
Wher do we go from here? God knows anything can happen.
We will just have to keep the faith and look on the bright side of things if any turn up to be looked at.
End of ramble & rant
FOWB
I wish he’d brought his spade over to my gaff, he could have dug away to his heart’s content.
Doug… that’s what you call a man with a spade on his head..
A man with no spade in his head…………..
On his head in Kent
That must be a bloke called Douglas.
Two more interesting headlines, Wolves and Burton looking at taking Ivan Toney on loan now Newcastle have resolved themselves to Championship footy next year and said he can go.
If he chooses Burton over us that should confirm our status as a club no one wants to play at.
http://www.shoot.co.uk/wolves-and-burton-eye-loan-swoop-for-premier-league-starlet/?
The other headline was Conor Coady who said,”let’s attack the Clarets”
It appears a few af the players may have already done so on Tuesdays performance..
I know the fans were certainly up for getting bladdered on the way home.
Is that the same Toney we decided not to buy a year or two back?
Maybe there will be some deal with Afobe.
Anything could happen with our management and recruitment team.
Oh woe is us….marvellous
Look on the bright side only one more win till Christmas.
Everybody on this blog, if they bother to read my words of wisdom, know that I am a supporter of Kenny Jackett.
I think he’s done a hell of a lot for Wolverhampton Wanderers with his honesty, communication with the fans, obvious respect for the club and its history and, yes, his ability in getting us promoted in that memorable season when we played some lovely football and scored shed loads of goals.
Whatever has happened this season does not detract from the fact that it was largely down to him and his influence on the ethos of the club and playing style of the team that the fans, who had been completely alienated by the crap that had gone on for the previous couple of years, were won back.
I wrote in a blog towards the end of our promotion season that we should enjoy the success and the euphoria because, knowing the short arms and long pockets of the money men, it could be the best it gets.
But my love for Kuddly Ken is not blind (unlike some people’s hating of a certain Mr Edwards) and I fully agree that he has been making some strange decisions and has not been able to wring consistent performances out of our struggling side.
Whether this is because he has ‘lost the dressing room’ (it’s down the corridor and turn left, by the way) or he has become ‘tactically naive’ (every coach is called that by tactically totally aware fans at some point in their career) or he just doesn’t have the ability at this level – time will tell.
I would still like to see what he is capable of given some decent backing from the mythical War Chest… but I guess I never will now.
Realistically, if he jumps ship or is chucked from the crow’s nest, we ain’t going to get any one better at the moment for reasons that are too obvious for me to have to explain to my fellow bloggers.
But whatever you think of the man, and he may be nearer the exit than the entrance now, he breathed a great blast of fresh air through the club and oversaw what was, for me, the most enjoyable season for yonks.
And for that, I will be eternally grateful.
It’s a matter of opinion Doog, that your words are ‘wise’ …
A slight assumption on your behalf.
If you are so certain as to what is wrong and how it can be fixed, maybe you could buy the club and put your money where your mouth is!
I think, Robin, that you have missed the (rather obvious I thought) irony in that first sentence.
Perhaps you have had a humour bypass – or maybe you are American, apparently they don’t understand irony.
Better ask Clive.
I’ve reread my piece and I can’t see where I wrote that I was certain what was wrong, or I knew how it could be fixed. Perhaps you can quote the passage to me.
Finally, you can be assured, if I had the money I would love to do what you suggested.
Your first sentence…
I don’t get the irony.
Maybe I am American, maybe British.
Maybe, even had a humour bypass.
You imply a certainty.
Certainly stirred your pot.
Doog.
I think you will find that down the corridor and turn left takes you into the cleaners cupboard. WTF were you doing in there, she’s 92 if she’s a day, you sick teddy.
I love Kenny with a passion as a person he has politeness, dignity, honesty, and a quality about him. So he’s screwed, because with those qualities he will never make a manager/Coach.
I honestly believe in my heart of hearts there is something intrinsically wrong at our beloved club that is the over riding facor in all actions, decisions and attitudes. We can’t get that bad overnight, something has to be wrong.
I for one am rolling up my sleeves and taking this one squarely on the chin, Kenny’s future is in question as the papers are now turning on him, even the express & lie are coming down on him.
Speaking of pond life!
‘Jekyll & Hyde’, ‘One step forward, one step back’, I don’t know what best describes this club currently. Perhaps its ‘labyrinth’; every time we think we’ve turned the corner and found the right way forward, we discover another brick wall..
Like many others I have a lot of time for KJ and what he has done for this club in a relatively short time. However, when I read that we switched to 3-5-2 against Bristol City I was astonished. Not in all of this seasons matches, or indeed pre-season, has there been any suggestion that we had even tried out a 3-5-2 formation. Why would you do it in a match situation ? Yes, we have to have an option other than 4-2-3-1, but it should have been tried and tested by now, preferably in pre-season.
Ben’s blog is spot-on. Stick to what you do best, that which has served you well so far. Here that means 4-2-3-1. And yes, pace is essential to the way we play, so Byrne on the right where he has most of his experience and any two from Henry, Graham or Ojo on the left – assuming a substitution. Bringing back Price and Ikeme would also restore some familiarity.
DG you are getting some stick lol..blind faith is
Endearing indeed even spreading ..so much I am feeling guilty at my criticism..even Stu is backtracking ..
If he had made sure of our defence I could of forgiven him for all the crazy and stupid decisions
which he must be accountable for..
Believe it or not I really really do believe play offs are still possible and therefor he would be saved…
Last play off place by a thread or do I need taking away?
There are a couple of spare beds available in ‘Dunbloggin’ – a home for the confused and old pond diggers that I am checking in to.
You, me and Kenny.
See you there!
Me back tracking, I don’t think so, read my posts after the Bristol farce,
Looks like the problem may be solved.
QPR players are saying they want Kenny Jackett appointed in place of Neil Warnock the interim manager.
The power of players eh, they can make or break you, ask Mourinio.
Knowing our luck, it’ll happen and we’ll get Warnock in part exchange.
Two American tycoons were over during the week and Moxey was showing them round the club then he took them out for a meal afterwards, no update yet. But if that happens it may well be all change again.
Brides nightie does’nt even come close.
The only positive out of it was. The restaurant owner said, “he was delighted at the challenge of trying to feed two Americans and Moxey”, sadly they failed miserably and ran out of grub before their appetites were satisfied.
Titter ye not.
They ran out of grub because Moxey was there, nothing to do with the yanks.
Surely even the basket case that is QPR wouldn’t swap one struggling manager for another.
And yes it is possible to achieve the playoffs in a division where no team can offer consistent good form. More likely though is a relegation struggle as Wolves can offer only flashes of half decent form. Please nobody quote my post following B’ham result. I’m already hanging my head at my ridiculous burst of optimism.
Normally I don’t tend to get involved with the post-match comments. I’ve been a fan of the blog for a number of years now and haven’t really spoken up; but when reading some of the things that have been said, I feel compelled to offer my two cents on the subject.
To those who have said that KJ has been deliberately tinkering with the side to leave us in this position so he can get sacked and paid off, get real. The man has a sense of pride and even speculating such a thing is ridiculous. However, I’m not a blind supporter of his actions of late. Like you, I’ve observed the tactical nativity that the team has suffered from in recent performances. But that doesn’t mean he should be shown the door at this stage, I still feel he has more to offer and has the personal professionalism to be able to improve the squad.
To do this however, it all must stem from the men at the top. The fact of the matter is that after what I would consider to be a successful season, expectation has rocketed and now we see Kenny in an impossible position. He has had no money to prepare for what has been expected to be a promotion campaign, and has essentially been left to pick up the pieces.
Now, I am relatively young compared to the vast majority of guys on here, but this definitely reminds me of the solbakken saga. Whilst there are good foundations at our fantastic club, the fact is that we think we are better than we are. I just hope the board have learned from past mistakes and don’t pull the trigger without having a replacement who they can be fairly certain that can improve the status of the club quickly. In the meantime, Kenny is the man we have committed to and is a man I ultimately support.
I apologise for the length of the comment; but I just want to leave you with a comment that a good friend of mine told me when I was young. When I asked him why we were wolves fans after losing several games on the trot, he turned to me and said with a smile that it “builds character”. We have all experienced highs and lows, and in the end, it is those memories that make us love our club. I urge you to stick with the manager and have faith that we can improve.
Sounds like it was a shocking performance at Bristol. Like the majority of people here I am a little bewildered as to the way our team are performing this season. Hot and cold and occasionally lukewarm.
In this modern world of football it is not surprising that with one win in five people are moaning and calling for a replacement to lead the once mighty Wolves onwards and upwards once again to the dizzy heights of being this country’s leading football club.
We only have to look at the managers given the golden boot this week in the Championship to see that you either perform or you are out on your arse. The comments I see on Facebook from so-called Wolves fans makes me shake my head in disbelief.
It’s all about getting that pot of gold that is the Premiership and it has to happen now, I mean now, not then but now. Instant results are expected and demanded, failure to do so is not acceptable and no, you can’t have more than two seasons to sort out a club that was a complete and utter pile of shite.
I am not amongst those who seek to replace KJ. I still have faith in him, as for our team that is a different story. I have always thought that we had a fairly decent squad of players who may be capable of reaching the play-off’s this season, but I think our present mid-table position is about as much as we can expect.
When KJ was appointed manager I said to my son – “He will need four seasons to sort this lot out”
I still believe that, though I doubt the people who make these decisions are that generous.
I was NOT one of those two tycoons
I have not had a sense of humor transplant, I’m still a Wolves fan, ay I?
In his interview for the Burnley game Kenny said there was enough in each half ( Bristol City ) for the fans to cheer, the word deluded springs to mind try telling that to the 1800 or so fans that traveled to Bristol Kenny, I dout many would agree with you…!
“If we play to our potential, we can get a result against anyone”
Thus quoted KJ
Well, at the moment our potential is not very good, and I hate to state the bleedin’ obvious, but a defeat is still a result.
Not the desired one, but a result nevertheless.
A much more positive attitude and ruthless streak is needed, a good kick up the bollocks in other words.
This applies to everyone at the club, from the top downwards.
If everyone did what they are being paid obscene sums of money for, the problem would not exist.
Value for money springs to mind, and if ANYBODY aint fit for purpose, get rid.
Back in the old days, when men were men and sheep were scared, we didnt have computers and interwebs and blogs and stuff.
We played on Saturday afternoons.
If we won, joy all week.
If we lost, misery and suicidal tendencies, until Wednesday, when we started to look forward to the upcoming fixture.
Usually one or two reports of a game to read and that was it, no autopsies ad infinitum.
Sometimes methinks progress is not always good!
Having said that, I would never have met you lot, so there is a silver lining to any cloud!
I’ll just slip back under the covers and say me prayers for tomorrow!!

We should rename ourselves Jekyll & Hyde Wanderers.
In this his third season, Kenny is still trying to find his best team and format. That’s worrying.
If American tycoons and others are sniffing around the sale prospectus I don’t think they will be particularly surprised about our form. We wouldn’t be for sale if we were top of the league, would we? With Morgan gone, taking his cheque book with him, we are up some creek without a paddle. T
The worst outcome, apart from relegation, would be if nobody wants to buy us. We can cross that bridge when we come to it, or more likely jump off it…
